HUMANS

Humanity hasn't changed all that much over the years. It hasn't needed to. Humans lack the power of bears, the teeth of sharks, the claws of raptors, and the flight of birds, but they have proven themselves to be the apex predator time and time again with their ability to think and strategize. Their thoughts created weapons: swords, spears, clubs, explosives and guns. Armor: leather, scales and steel, and cities, whete humans congrue in the safety of numbers. Not one creature dares attack a human settlement, knowing they will be blasted to kingdom come before they can sink their teeth into anything.

Another benefit that humans have that other, lesser creatures lack is endurance. Humans on the hunt could track and chase prey for miles on end, and when the creature was too exhausted to run or fight, it was easy pickings. An injured human, fueled by adrenaline, still has the capacity to flee or fight back so long as it has functioning arms, legs and teeth.

Their strength is paltry to others, they lack natural weapons with their flat fingernails and square teeth, but humans more than make up for it with intelligence and durability. They have only one known predator...

Vampires

A Vampire is a Human, once deceased or near death, afflicted with the Curse of Undeath. They retain all of their memories and experiences from their life, but with added benefits.

Among these are...

Superior strength, easily capable of smashing apart stone with their bare hands.

Enhanced agility, easily capable of running up to 20 miles per hour. Humans must rigorously train themselves to run this fast without killing themselves.

Nightvision, Vampires are able to see in the dark, unlike Humans.

Hypnosis/Charming, a vampiric ability often used to seduce unsuspecting victims into letting their guard down. Varying rates of success.

Immortality, to aging and to an extent, being killed. A vampire does not age, and cannot be truly killed without a specific process. If a vampire receives a wound that would supposedly kill it, the vampire will fall unconscious, and stay that way until it receives blood.

Prehensile veins, how vampires drink blood. They have perfect control over their own blood veins, and by piercing a human, they can suck out blood by sending their veins inside the wound. They prefer to use their hands or teeth for this task, but can send veins out of any limb. Usually, a vampire will aim for the neck or stomach to receive the most blood.

However, all of these gains in power have also left an imprint of weaknesses on the vampire...

When exposed to sunlight, a vampire will suffer severe nausea, and become incapable of using its extra abilities.

A vampire cannot consume any other food for sustenence except for the blood of living creatures. Human blood is the most delicious, and as such, highly sought after. Human tears, while not able to nourish a vampire, are still considered tasty.

Being exposed to running water will sear a vampire's flesh like acid, if exposed to a higher volume than mild rainfall.

A vampire's identity is difficult to conceal. They are paler than ordinary humans, and more often than not, their hair loses pigment as well. Their pronounced fangs and eyes are also dead giveaways. If exposed to any extreme emotion, or the urge to feed, the sclera of a vampire's eyes will blacken, and their iris turns red.

Lastly, a Vampire still requires sleep. In order to benefit from sleep, it must return to its place of burial (or place of death, if it was never buried.)

ADDITIONAL VAMPIRE INFO

When a Vampire kills a human by sucking out all of their blood, the human will rise, infected with the Curse of Undeath. They will return as a Zombie, bound with servitude to the Vampire that killed them. The Zombie begins its life at the same level of physical and mental strength as their living form, but with time, they will begin to deteriorate, rotting and losing their intelligence. In around a week, the Zombie suffers from intense rigor mortis, and cannot communicate except through moans. Zombies begin to crave exclusively living things, but, like Vampires to Human Blood, Zombies find Human Flesh to be the most appetizing. A Human killed by a Zombie will return as an Unbound Zombie. It is like the Zombie, but serves no Vampire. Bound or not, a Zombie does not require sleep.

If a Human ingests Vampire blood before being killed by a Vampire, either deliberately or accidentally, they will rise as a new Vampire. The place of their death will serve as where they must rest in order to get proper slumber.

To properly execute a Vampire, one must track it down to their place of rest, and follow these steps precisely.

1. Speak the Vampire's name.

2. Drive a wooden stake through the Vampire's heart.

3. Decapitate the Vampire.

4. Sprinkle both the severed head and body with blessed water.

5. Close the coffin, or otherwise burn the body.

If a step is done wrong, the Vampire will not be truly dead, but due to the level of mutilation, will be incapacitated until it receives blood.
