The Born Again Novice
Welcome to the Lore page! I will be regularly updating this when I can. You'll find the background, lore and information (obviously), Maps and whats currently gone on so far here.
Nearly 1500 years have passed since "The Great Collapse" which ended advanced civilizations of the world. Now instead, nature has reclaimed its place as greenery and large scale forests once again cover the landscape. Huge strong parent trees tower over these forests, almost as a watchful guardian of its children. Most signs of civilization has disappeared, save for a few ruins that sit broken and decrepit from years of exposure from the elements. Its taken time, but evolution has done its work and several new breeds of creatures have been born in this new time, both found in legend and never seen before by human eyes. Many environments are highly toxic to the human body but androids and the demon beasts thrive in this land. (Demon beasts are basically what the people of our particular region call the new creatures.)
However, humanity, quite the stubborn and hardy race of people, has survived through this harsh period. Sanctuaries were built by both governments and private corporations alike, and several million humans still live, but underground. These underground settlements are the product of their advanced technology and are vast cities with the intent of copying the world they once had above. Skillfully they created a false sun in each sanctuary, allowing day/night cycles and the ability to produce crops to feed themselves. Weapons like firearms were confiscated in most sanctuaries as to prevent any further unnecessary deaths, but was largely unsuccessfully as, by this time, most humans had the Zanier Tech Implant that allowed the use of what many called 'Magic'. While the most of what people could do, since this was generally a new creation, was seemingly move large and small objects alike with nothing but their mind and a steady hand. Later on, many individuals found more aggressive ways to use this new power and skirmishes or full on rebellion have appeared in many a sanctuary.
Some sanctuaries have banned the use of Magic within theirs cities, but some continue to use and advance its uses in secret. While on the other side, some sanctuaries use it in everyday life and revere it as a gift from a god to preserve humanity. Not all sanctuaries agree and track their crimes and laws independently of each other. Most sanctuaries don't allow access to the outside, or over-world, as there is almost simply no need to venture from their safe-haven. But many youth seek the outside, listening to the stories of their parents about the world humans once dominated separate from this cold metallic city, they desire freedom. Some however do, simply to study the outside or see if its survivable. Some sanctuaries have been found empty recently however, entire populations, 300,000 people, missing in its entirety. An empty ghost city void of life and its Sun taken...

Current Map:
Cerberus
6'4 Tall Average
Large Black Claws
Able to control its 'tentacles' perfectly and in unison
Sharp Teeth
Able to spew an boiling acid from its chest similar to Napalm
Found Primarily in Toxic/irradiated Areas
Description:
Cerberus. This is a big one. Cruel, powerful and extremely violent. Several men are needed to take this on by itself. At younger ages they travel in packs for safety and to hunt food. Once they reach adult-hood they split off as they no longer need the competition. They roam the wastelands and irradiated areas searching for food, and can go several months to a full year without a meal. However, once their sight is locked on prey they will never stop chasing it.
Nythian Boar
6'2 Tall Average
Several Large pointed tusks
Large Razored Tail
Skull thick as steel
Found Primarily in Forests
Description:
One of the many Demon-Beasts that travel the forests of the Over-world. They tend to keep to themselves and forage for plants during the day. However, during mating seasons they become very aggressive and will charge at anything that it deems a threat. Its skull can smash a tree with one charge.
Ghoul
5'3 Average
Sharp teeth and claws
Incredibly fast
Able to see in Dark
Found primarily in caves, ruins, or dark spaces.
Descpition:
They are a weaker demon-beast but equally feared as a rank B creature. Ghouls travel in large groups and like to swarm their prey ripping the flesh away however they can until the poor creature dies from wounds or bleeds to death.
Just a few of the Demon Beasts from A-C that you'll find. More to come later.
Radipillars
3'0 Average
Not dangerous at all
Slow
Glow in the dark
Found primarily in caves, ruins, or dark spaces.
Descpition:
These are the most passive beasts you can find in the wild. Radipillars are an abnormally large worm/caterpillar creature, that feeds on radiation, execrated matter, and anything they can digest( which is everything!). They ignore most other creatures and humans, preferring to just eat or stay in place as movement takes a lot of their energy. Their waste is a source of food for other animals, and even to humans. Their only defense is giving a rather large screech when they are killed, warning all of its kind nearby they are being hunted.
Ticks
3'5 Average
Sharp claws and armored shell(but no teeth, can only digest liquids or slush)
Fast and able to climb on walls and ceilings
Able to see in Dark, and coordinate with other of its kind
Found primarily in caves, swamps, and even
Descpition:
Ticks are considered a nuisance when alone, but in packs it is smart to leave them the hell alone. They are fairly shy creatures, and will not engage on sight. They stay close to their hives, and mainly protect their source of food, the Radipilliars. If someone/something killed a Radipillar the ticks would turn very aggressive and attack the killer until it leaves their territory.
Striders
70-90 Average
Docile
Slow
Stick close to forest or plains,
Very tough hide
Descpition:
Considered a very elegant beast, Striders are considered one of the most peaceful creatures and will not attack humans if they come too close. Their face is a mass of tentacles, and their bodies are huge. Scholars study the creatures for their ability to balance their huge bodies on their somewhat thin legs. The only reason is that they are class-B is that people have gotten too close and have been flattened by the beasts. Also if the beasts are scared they will take off in a stampede that can lead to major destruction in the local area and loss of life. Sanctuaries plead for people to view them, from a distance after what happened to the the surface outpost belonging to Sanctuary Paris.
Eldritch Wurm
Can Average from 25 to 60 ft long
3 rows of teeth
Hard pierce-resistant exoskeleton
Burrows underground and ambushes prey
Only found in Toxic areas and the Bone Yard
Description:
Named after Mad-man Eldritch himself, its a great beast that very few have managed to kill, very less even see. Its a reclusive creature, tending to stay beneath the earth's crust where many of them hide in the deep underground caverns they had burrowed underneath the fabled Bone Yard. An ancient ruin of the past, where a colony from a sanctuary tried to survive on the surface. Only to meet a terrible and abrupt fate.
Claustier
4'5 Average Height
Spews hazardous gases
Generally passive
Feeds on toxic wastes
Can be found anywhere from toxic wastelands to woodland forests
Description:
Claustier are strange new reptilian creatures which have only begun appearing in the last 300 years. Not much information has been gathered about them, as most tend to avoid them altogether. Even stepping close to them could mean your death as they will immediately pounce on you, digging their claws into your flesh and shooting poison down ones throat.
Entmu
5'8 Average Height
Strong sharp beak
Tough Feathers
Very fast
Docile and found in predominately plains and forests
Description:
Entmu have been used by Over-worlders for centuries as transportation and added defense against other more dangerous creatures. Many bigger Demon-Beasts hunt the Entmu as a food source, and so the over-worlders had to constantly defend them from attackers. Once properly domesticated they became incredibly valuable as more than just transportation. Their feathers were stronger than iron, they could find and dig up roots for herbs and catch fish with ease. Now, other than using technology the only proper way to travel on the surface world is with an Entmu. These creatures have the capacity to love, and if one is able to gain its trust they bond for life.
Humans
The most common race of people in the Under-World, they are the ancestors of the long lost civilization of the past. They live in large underground cities created to replicate what they had above. They are hardy and intuitive, and have the strongest survival sense out of all the races. Even though they are the greatest supplier of Gauntlets and Catalysts in the world they are not as well versed in magic like other races. They make the best soldiers and warriors, especially since they have the closest access to old work technology.
Over-Worlders or Alium
The Alium, meaning 'different' in Latin, are descended from human who were not so fortunate to escape into the underground. Instead, they were forced to survive the harsh nightmarish landscape and so had to adapt. It was not easy, and there are few of the Alium altogether now, but they eventually evolved physically and mentally and now can thrive in this new time. Most Alium have the Zanier tech implant and due to their poorer situation than that of the underground, rely heavily on it to survive. Many of them are able to use magic expertly and even without the need of a gauntlet or catalyst. They live in several cities and towns across the world but are still greatly outnumbered by the Humans due to most of them dying in the earlier years.
Synthetics
Beings made by humans from the past with sentient intelligence, thrust into the harsh world just as their masters destroyed it. When the last surviving governments of the world went underground they had no choice, like that of the Alium, to survive in the new perilous reality. They are strong, resilient, seemingly immortal and require little to survive. However if damaged they need to be repaired and in this dangerous environment teeming with demon beasts it makes travel difficult. With little technology of the old world they are forced to scavenge what they can and avoid confrontation. Most models that are made in the Under-World are fixed with the Zanier tech implant, and therefore are able to use magic. Old world models do not.
Beast-Men
Neo-Cross
A organization of followers from an ancient long dead religion, they are extremely zealous and try to force their beliefs onto others. Many of the followers are from underground churches which have been ousted by sanctuaries due 'aggressive conversion attempts' and underhanded acts like bribery. However in farther Eastern sanctuaries they are growing increasingly popular and hold a lot of political power there. The group is controlled by a council called the Holy Ghosts who give commands from behind the scenes. In the past they were the igniters of several Magician rebellions across many sanctuaries in Europe, only to be quelled and repelled by a cooperative force of Alium and the Gaurdiani.
Gaurdiani
K.O.B
Name:
Manara Danne
Age:
53
Appearance:
Captain Danne has a cold personality and an even colder stare, she is purely professional and conducts herself as such at all times. Even if she doesn't show it she cares deeply about those in the Berlin sanctuary and spends most if not all of her time keeping sure they are safe. She has a meticulous nature and prefers to have a plan for everything, but is not afraid to improvise if necessary.

Description:
Budapest Sanctuary lives by this statement "You can never have too much ammo, or too much practice". One of the top Sanctuaries, Budapest is controlled entirely by it's military in which the state and the military are traditionally or constitutionally the same entity, and government positions are always occupied by commissioned officers and military leaders. The Sanctuary has faced many rebellions over the state of government, and its stance on magic(while not outlawed, is seen unfavorably). That is why it recruits its soldiers at a very young age (5-7) and starts to train them, and teach them about Budapest. They rely heavily on their guns, technological defenses, and ammo. They often do trade with their weapons and ammo in caravans with other Sanctuaries for essentials such as food, materials, or scientific knowledge that can increase their military might. Crimes are often punishable by enlistment into the military and in the worst detachments. Though all of this, its people are relatively safe from the outside world. All they need to do to get this safety, is swear themselves completely to Budapest Sanctuary. Relations with Other Sanctuaries are alright, but not good with the Over-Worlds, and Beast-men. Strangely, Synthetics are sometimes accepted into the society, and often allowed positions in the military based on their model and chance of possible upgrades or improvements.

Description:
Centuries ago the wealthy elite of a dying civilization all pooled their resources together to construct a great metropolis underground. They abandoned their governments in order to flee from the destruction brought by 'The Great Collapse'. Nearly thirty great noble families formed a alliance with each other, bringing resources and survivors alike. They formed the first Berlin Council, who holds all power and is the center of government over the masses of the underground. However, as centuries past the leaders of the Berlin Sanctuary begun to see their rule as more of a responsibility to protect law and order. Now the Government positions are held by elected officials from Noble families whom govern and council the people. Local autonomy is allowed throughout the sanctuary, but security and trade with other sanctuaries and businesses from the outside are handled by the Nobles.

Description:
Rome has become a large industrial city that is tasked with the exporting and importing of resources across all sanctuaries. They are the largest exporter of minerals in all of Europe, for which many sanctuaries and cities buy from. Many of the new generation of Synthetics are made here and call this city their birthplace. It is considered a great asset of humanity and mutually benefits from the protection from the Paris, Berlin, Budapest and Athens sanctuaries. They are controlled directly by a council of elected individuals from any and all background. One of the more advanced sanctuaries in technology, many new weapons and armor are made here which are to be tested and used against Demon-Beasts.

Description:
London Sanctuary has fared worst than the other sanctuaries. Its population is less than the other sanctuaries, and unfortunately its government was overthrown by Magic users 300 years ago. The government is controlled completely by Magic users, and only those that use Magic have a voice on the government. The more proficient in Magic you are, the more power you have. The Sanctuary has some of the best Magic Users around, and has dedicated its role to study Magic and provide safety to Magic users that need it. It also has learned how to act around some Beasts from the Over-Worlders, and study them. It It's relations with other Sanctuaries are iffy at best, because the government is still seen as "New" and made by "anarchists". The Neo-Cross has a strong presence here.
