    Dear reader,

The time has come upon us to place our bets for the upcoming social season. Of course, there are some families less suitable, such as that of the Baron Middleton. However, others are doubly likely to be the belle of the ball. For this author, the widower, Viscount Hereford’s family comes to mind, with the eldest being the one I bet all my money on. Though, her sister, [Role #2], is just as kind and darling. All the same, no one can predict whom the Queen might choose as the Jewel of the Season.

Beyond the gossip flittering amongst the ton, this season’s suitors also seem to be causing a ruckus. For instance, the son of the Duke of York has already caused chaos before the season’s official opening. Caught up in a scandal so early is surely an indicator of what fun drama is to come over the course of the next few months. Not to mention- the whispers about the Queen of Russia coming to visit with her eligible children has everyone a flutter, if this season didn’t already.

As always, I will be watching,

Yes! That's right- a Bridgerton roleplay. If you've never seen the show, don't fret! It's 100% not a requirement, neither is any knowledge of Pride and Prejudice. However, having a little bit of familiarity with the Regency era might be helpful, though once more, not a requirement! All you need to understand is this:
    - This is a period roleplay. The approx. time frame is the early 1800s. The roleplay will take place in 1813.
    - High society at this time centered around the spring and summer months, which is where the majority of balls and other parties occurred. This was also the time where women and men of age began to be courted/courting.
    - Therefore, this roleplay is centered on the season where several lovely ladies and men begin to pair up (though, there are some LGBTQ+ options! And even options to play the gentry!)
    - However, the drama that occurs this season is going to be highly subject to Lady Whistledown's all-knowing gaze

How To Audition
- Character sheets will be due February 5th.

- You can choose one of the premades, though the best application for said premade will be chosen.

- This changes for people who opt to PM me a character suggestion; their suggestion, once approved, will be added to the roster of characters and marked as already taken.

- However! Don't fret if you opt to write an audition for a premade and your audition does not end up being chosen for the premade. On the CS form, you have the opportunity to choose your Top Three pre-mades. If you end up not being selected for your first premade, you can write a CS for one of your other three (as long as they are not taken characters)

- Please maintain the diversity with faceclaims. I added the ethnicity and race of all the models so that this job will be easier for everyone!

- Please refer to the notes for any siblings/related characters. Keep the family members vague until names can be decided upon by those who get those roles. Refer to my CS for the Princess of Russia to see what I mean

- If you need help with maintaining diversity, try Peppermint's FC Directory.

- *IMPORTANT* Please message me a minimum of three (3) secrets about your character that are true. These are things that Lady Whistledown will reveal in her paper, which will be released every other event or as Lady Whistledown sees fit.

- If you want your character to be Lady Whistledown, fill out the section of the CS about that.

- If you want your character to be the Jewel of the Season, fill out the section of CS.

- If you make your own character and PM it to me, I will be more than happy to assist you with crafting a title for your character's family.

Rules

Rule 01. No god-modding, Mary-Sues, etc. Normal roleplay rules.

Rule 02. Please be active. Plotting is going to be integral to this roleplay, so if you do not want to interact with people then I don't recommend participating. Not to turn you off from it! It'll just be difficult if that's something you don't like that.

Rule 03. Literacy is required, but the expectation is at least one post every few days. There' a minimum of one paragraph, simply because I think it would be easier on everyone to have a smaller minimum. I'm hoping for people to be fairly active in terms of posting (hence why I ask for a new post every few days or so; If you post 2 times a week, you'll be sitting pretty).

Characters

Role 1, ELDEST DAUGHTER OF THE VISCOUNT HEREFORD The eldest, the most precious, and the one who was expected to do it all. Now, she's burned out. Terrified of failure, [Role #1] is simply hoping to make it through the season with her reputation intact.

Notes:
- The eldest Hereford girl is three years older than the second oldest
- Their last name is Hereford
- They have one younger sibling, a boy about the age of 12.

FC: Taylor LaShae | Ethnicity & Race: French + Columbian & White

Role 2, DAUGHTER OF THE VISCOUNT HEREFORD The youngest of Viscount Hereford's daughters afforded [Role #2] many liberties that her sister didn't get. Always running amuck, she brought life to the ghost-ridden household. Her father relied on her for much of his happiness after his wife passed. Because of this, [Role #2] got away with everything and anything, resulting in a girl whose last idea of fun is letting a bunch of boys flirt with her.

Notes:
- The eldest Hereford girl is three years older than the second oldest
- Their last name is Hereford
- They have one younger sibling, a boy about the age of 12.

FC: Solange Smith | Ethnicity & Race: French & White

Role 3, DAUGHTER OF THE BARON MIDDLETON A boisterous girl of a questionable reputation. Rumor has it she was pregnant by her former best friend, [Role #11], once upon a time, but many people have let the rumor blow over. She's known to get drunk at parties and to flirt shamelessly. Many believe her to be Mrs. Whistledown, however, because of her innumerable connections.

FC: Zoe Barnard | Ethnicity & Race: Austrailian + Indian & White

Role 4, CROWN PRINCESS OF RUSSIA Many call her the broken heir, seeing her as a weak future ruler. Due to her ailing mental health and fairer gender, many amongst Russian society believe that the reinterpretation of the law making the eldest twin the Tsar should be overturned. Because of this, the once-perfect Romanov child has run amuck. London is her last hope, given she can only take the throne if she is married. If her brother marries before her, she fears the worst.

Notes:
- The Russian royal family's last name is Romanov
- The family has two younger children besides the twins. Their brother is 17 and their little sister is 10.
- The Queen died giving the birth to the 10 year old sister.

FC: Vita Mir | Ethnicity & Race: Russian + Afghanistanian & White

Role 5, PRINCESS OF RUSSIA'S MAID As a maid, [Role #5] tends to fade into the background. However, coming to London has been her dream, and she's finally here. Though only for a bit... unless she manages to score a sizable marriage that even her Princess could not deny her.

FC: Hunter Schafer | Ethnicity & Race: German & White {Trans model}[/border][/border]

Role 6, PRINCESS OF ENGLAND [Role #6] has always envied her brother. He gets to do whatever he wants, given he already has his place in society secured for him. How unfair is it that he has more of a claim to the throne than she does? The King married her mother first, birthing her first. It seems a little dumb that [Role #17] gets to rule just because he's a boy. Now, she's being forced strongly encouraged to marry the Prince of Russia in order to secure and strengthen the alliance between the two countries. Not only does she get zero power, she gets little choice in marrying for love. Therefore, it is no surprise that she opted to switch places with her lady in waiting, [Role #21].

Notes:
- The Princess of England is four years older than the Crown Prince
- The King of England divorced the Princess's mom only when she was three years old.
- The Prince's mother is the currently crowned Queen of England
- There are no other siblings in the Royal Family
- The King's full name is King George IV
- The Royal Family is not aware that the Princess and her Lady in Waiting have swapped places, given they look oddly similar

FC: Indya Moore | Ethnicity & Race: Haitian, Puerto Rican, + Dominican & Latin + Black {Trans model}

Role 7, DAUGHTER OF THE EARL OF MONTGOMERY Growing up with five brothers, the sole daughter of the Earl of Montgomery can be found frequenting the stables and refusing her title as Lady. It certainly helps that her brothers are overprotective to a fault, stepping in the way of their parents’ attempts to marry off their only baby sister. Escaping during the day to the center square, she can be found with her best friend [Role #10]. Everyday, she considers running away from home in order to pursue blacksmithing with her friend.

FC: Mileshka Cortes | Ethnicity & Race: Puerto Rican & Latino

Role 8, DAUGHTER OF BARON WILMINGTON All the daughter of Baron Wilmington wants is to be a proper lady with a brood of children. Growing up with her innumerable siblings and seeing her loving parents, one could say she has rose-color glasses for married life. Especially since rumors have begun circulating about her father’s current debt and her mother’s infidelity. To say that her world view is being questioned is an understatement. Not two fortnights ago, people were theorizing that [Role #8] would be the Jewel of the Season, given how enthusiastic she was to be a lady. Now, it seems her family’s rumors may destroy her chance of her dreams.

FC: Halima Aden | Ethnicity & Race: Somali & Kenyan & Black

Role 9, DAUGHTER OF SIR FEATHERFORD The ton’s darling. Everyone loves [Role #9], and they often comment on her incomparable beauty. She has always been the most perfect candidate for courting, and everyone has been waiting in anticipation for her coming out season (which her father has put off far longer than necessary). While her title is minimum (given it has been bestowed upon her as a curtesy from the Queen), it is obvious she is the strongest contender for Jewel of the Season.

FC: Sinait Gidey | Ethnicity & Race: Ethiopian & Black

Role 10, BLACKSMITH Being the only female blacksmith amongst the ton, [Role #10] is immune to the glares and comments of high society. She could care less for what people think of her, especially because she produces the best horseshoes, metalware, weapons, and armor. No one questions her quality work, though they question her choices. Especially since she lets the daughter of the Earl of Montgomery spend so much time with her. The comments concerning her corrupting the innocent daughter is the only thing that keeps her from acting on the endless love she holds for her best friend.

FC: Charlene Almarvez | Ethnicity & Race: Filipian & Asian

Role 11, SON OF THE DUKE OF YORK Entitled to the core, the son of the Duke of York cares not for taking his place in society. Why should he when he gets by with the ladies by merely being the son of one of the most powerful men and best friend of the King? The last thing he wants to do is marry, but his mother has encouraged him to in order to carry on the bloodline. It certainly doesn’t help that he’s been tasked with escorting his cousin [Role #22] for this season.

FC: Billy Vandendooren | Ethnicity & Race: Belgian & White

Role 12, PRINCE OF RUSSIA Perpetually living in his twin sister's shadow, [Role #12] has managed to live a life of mild debauchery without any remarks from their father. Now, he's being pushed to marry by all of those around him, besides his father. Even then, his father is starting to come around to the idea of [Role #12] ruling instead of his sister. If he marries before her, making him more eligible, Tsar Romanov might consider letting his eldest boy take the throne.

Notes:
- The Russian royal family's last name is Romanov
- The family has two younger children besides the twins. Their brother is 17 and their little sister is 10.
- The Queen died giving the birth to the 10 year old sister.

FC: Kristoff Pituk | Ethnicity & Race: Hungarian & White

Role 13, BARON BEAUCHAMP, GENERAL Baron Beauchamp is actually not a Baron at all. In fact, they are not even a man. Daughter of a scullery maid, [Role #13] was born the same night that the son of the Baron was born. They grew up side-by-side until the son was kidnapped by pirates, along with the Baron. The body of the Baron was found on the coast of France, fueling the war. However, no one knows of the son’s disappearance. The Baroness tasked her son’s best friend with being the Baron. To this day, [Role #13] does not understand why the Baroness refuses to reveal her son is gone, though she suspects it is because of the uncertainty of who would inherit the title of Baron. Though, it’s no matter to her. She has done more with her title than any man could, even if she misses her friend dearly.

FC: Julia Campbell Gillies | Ethnicity & Race: South African & White

Role 14, SON OF VISCOUNT FALKLAND, LIEUTENANT Former blacksmith and bastard of Viscount Falkland, [Role #14] found his way into the future title of Viscount by chance. It was after the true son of the Viscount Falkland passed of small pox that [Role #14] was discovered and urged by the Viscount to stand in for his son, in order to secure and maintain his title. Secretly, the Viscount has been dying for years of the cancer of the liver. To his credit, [Role #14] has become a rested member of the King's Army, protecting the Falkland name from any scrutiny. {Best friend's with [Role #13]}

FC: Donald Glover | Ethnicity & Race: Afro-American & Black

Role 15, KNIGHT The least respected person amongst the men. He's the most honorable, however, and he's known to duel (illegally) anyone who dares disrespect those he loves. As one might imagine, [Role #15] is a bit of a hot-head, but no one will ever doubt his passion. Even if his title of "Sir" is only cursory.

FC: Luka Sabbat | Ethnicity & Race: American, Irish, English, German, + Haitian & Black

Role 16, DUKE OF SUFFOLK With his father dying when he was only 7 years old, [Role #16] has been the pinnacle of responsibility. Even his hobbies, which include gardening, are responsible. When he isn't tending to his plants regularly, he's in charge of the lands he oversees. It is his greatest pride that his sectors have produced the most grain and produce for almost five years running. {Credit: @StrawberryDreamer}

FC: Ashton Sanders | Ethnicity & Race: Afro-American & Black

Role 17, CROWN PRINCE OF ENGLAND Until now, [Role #17] never questioned his duty to the crown. As he's grown older, he's found women less and less attractive. The knowledge that he would never marry for love (if he were to take the crown) makes the concept of ruling England... not exactly his favorite. Part of him wishes his half-sister could take the throne. It'd make things easier on him. {Credit: @StrawberryDreamer}

FC: Freddie Ashcroft | Ethnicity & Race: British & White

Role 18, QUEEN'S GUARD Some people wonder why [Role #18] is one of the Queen’s most prized guards. Though he stands with the utmost diligence and serves his Queen proudly, he often seems too soft to be able to protect her. He’s precious and is known to give people in town flowers that he picks from the Palace gardens. If there was an apt comparable character for the Guard, it would be Ferdinand the Bull. Though perhaps he has sharper horns than he seems...

FC: Jorge Lopez | Ethnicity & Race: Chilean & Latino

Role 19, SON OF THE VISCOUNT BERESFORD To be fair, [Role #19] has a secretly terrible home life. However, he tends to be, for lack of a better word, a major arse. He avoids talking to people on a regular basis, often saying something rude to any interested women. He fails to make it through a conversation, too prideful and socially anxious to be proper. Though, somehow, he tends to get away with it.

FC: Emile Woon | Ethnicity & Race: Canadian & White + Asian

Role 20, SON OF MARQUESS OF NORTHAMPTON The party monster of the ton. [Role #20] is the constantly finding himself in trouble, and he often faces the wrath of his father because of it. Though, he has no plans of stopping his antics anytime soon. He’s perfectly fine with being known as the town’s man-whore. In fact, he prefers it that way. Secretly terrified of intimacy, he tends to find plenty of poor women who believe he is fixable. Little do they know that no one can fix [Role #20], as he’s already too broken.

FC: Christiano Palmerini | Ethnicity & Race: Italian, Brazilian, Japanese + Italian & Mixed Race (White-passing)

Role 21, MAIDEN IN WAITING TO PRINCESS OF ENGLAND A maiden in waiting who has switched spots with the princess she attends.

FC: | Ethnicity & Race:

Role 22, TITLE TBD As the Duke of York's cousin, [Role #22] was sent to live with him and his mother for the length of the season. She was sent there because her older brother had to raise her after their parents died and he allowed her to get involved with a man of quite a low status that was with her to get her money. Thus, her brother reached out to their extended family to get her a proper match and secure whatever money and status she does still have. Now, [Role #10] is in charge of escorting her this season.

FAQs

FAQ 01. What is the year of this RP?

The year is 1813.

FAQ 02. What about the suitors?

I know that in the roleplay community, a lot of people love playing women over men, especially in FxM relationships. However, I hope that we will have people to play the suitors in addition to the women. If not enough people express interest but there are a few people really interested, we can always double up. Think of this like a group 1x1 roleplay (if that makes sense).

FAQ 03. How does the pairings go?

When filling out the auditions, you will mark who you think would be the best match for your character, second best, third best, etc. These will be used as a soft guide for potential pairings. We can sort out matches via plotting. You will also make a list of people you believe would be good romantic interests for your character. These will also be used for plotting.
FAQ 04. How will we handle homosexuality?

One thing that will wholly differ from the show and the time period, in general, is how society handles homosexuality/queer people. I think that the attitude people would have would be more so like what we saw in the early 2000s. People were accepting of queer people, but only to a certain extent. I'd like to believe that the majority of families in this AU would be accepting of their children, though perhaps would encourage them to not be as blatant about it. Essentially- "Be gay but don't be too public about it." This means that gay marriage would not be legal, though people would not necessarily be seen as being mentally ill or consumed by the devil for being gay. Therefore- F x M pairings are NOT a must, except for courting purposes. But- you don't have to end up with any person who's courting your character/who your character is courting.

FAQ 05. How will risque moments be handled?

For risque moments, depending on your character's personality, they would probably respond with distaste. If your character is more inclined to say "fuck you!" to society, then perhaps they wouldn't care very much. However, that would be going against the norm. So TLDR- the general rule of thumb would be to have your character react to risque moments as people of the early 19th century would.

Show FAQs
FAQ 01. Who is Lady Whistledown?

Within Bridgerton, Lady Whistledown is the writer of a gossip paper that everyone amongst the ton (AKA London high society) reads. She's simply being used in this RP to add some spice.

FAQ 02. What is the Jewel of the Season?

Every year, the Queen chooses the most eligible girl of the season. Thus, she becomes a star almost. She's constantly pestered by suitors, and other girls envy her.

FAQ 03. What do these titles mean?

There is a social hierarchy that exists with titles. Don't worry too much about it because it doesn't really change much. Here's the hierarchy and forms of address:
Duke
-Referred to as Duke and Duchess
Marquess
-Referred to as Marquess
Earl
-Referred to as Count and Countess
Viscount
-Referred to Viscount and Viscountess
Baron
-Referred to as Baron and Baronness
Knight
-Referred to as Lord or Lady
Gentry
-No proper title
However- keep in mind that many of the characters do not have a proper title yet. Therefore, most characters would be referred to as "Lady" or "Lord."

FAQ 04. What does "ton" mean?
"Ton" is a term to describe London society. Think of it as town without the w.

Full Name: Amelia Williams
Nicknames: that girl, maidservant
Age: 21
Birthdate: February 3rd
Zodiac: Pisces

Sexuality: Bisexual

Gender: Female

Faceclaim: Flora Carter

Title & Estate: Lady in waiting to Princess of England

Coming Out Year: this year

Reputation: Unimportant, just a forgettable servant girl

1AE8D813-36BD-4EF7-8CC0-99D375FB8BB1.png

Personality: Amelia really doesn’t want to cause trouble. She’s always behaved and never stepped out of line. Sometimes she does get lost in her thoughts, it’s never on purpose. She’s soft spoken and usually only speaks when spoken too. In the little time she has off though she’ll often do as she pleases, socializing with the rest of the help and what not. It’s her time and she deserves it. Unfortunately, this causes her to be seen as a bit of a flirt, making people question her lady hood. She’s oblivious to any talk, she isn’t much of a gossip after all.

Amelia always wishes there was more to her life. She feels like being a servant shouldn’t be her place, it never has felt quite right. Though she seems to fit in her role like the final puzzle piece, staying in that shape is always so boring. She thinks there are plenty of other puzzles she could fit as well. There has to be something else out there for her

Vices: Free thinker, distractible, impulsive
Virtues: obedient, hardworking, neat, careful
Likes: reading, blossoms, dancing, animals
Dislikes: chocolate, alcohol, getting lost, birthdays
Hobbies & Skills: socializing, cleaning, serving

Background: Amelia was born to a knight and a seamstress in London. Though not born of complete low class, she knew she’d never be able to even touch the idea of being a noble woman. She lived in town while her father defended the queen. When she was 8 there was an attack he hadn’t survived. Still, her mother made enough off the elegant dresses she made to keep them afloat. Her best customer being the queen. When her mother got tuberculosis, it was only nature that Amelia would get it as well. She barely made it through but the same couldn’t be said for her mother.

Amelia was young and so alone, until the queen tried to order another dress. She’d never asked for anything but in that moment she’d gotten everything. A job in the castle was the closest someone like her could get to being royalty. Every day she was so grateful for what she’d been given. She learned the rules quickly and soon was positioned to care for the princess herself.

0DC5AD96-729B-4065-867D-F926380AE253.jpeg

Relationships:

King George: The king doesn’t seem to feel one way or the other towards her. As long as she does as she’s told, she never has a problem with him.

Queen of England: The queen took her in after her parents died. Her father had been a knight, but she never lived within the castle. She always stayed with her mother in town. She doesn’t remember much about her parent’s death, only that the queen was kind enough to help.

Princess of England: They’ve been together for years now... As lady and servant of course, nothing more, though Amelia sometimes wishes for once they could have some sort of connection, but she had to learn her place. Though she may know a lot about the princess it is as an attendant, not a friend.

Crown prince of England: Honestly, she rarely sees him, far less alone. He entregues her in the way a schoolyard crush would a young girl. Again, it’s not her place to have or express those feelings. However when they do meet, the prince treats her different than the other servants. Maybe she’s imagining it, but she likes to think maybe he at least thinks fondly of her.

Suitors/Ladies: None

Romantic Interests:
(In preferred order)
Baron Beauchamp
Queen’s guard
Princess of England
Princess of Russia’s maid
Blacksmith

How Do They Feel About Lady Whistledown?:
Amelia is vaguely familiar with the woman. She hasn’t heard much, but when she does it’s quite the scandal. She’s just glad she isn’t on the receiving end.

How Do They Feel About London Society?:
It’s a bit trivial, but it seems exciting. She’d love to be included, even just for a little while. Though it’s silly, everything looks so fun.
Rumors:
-She’s a lesbian
-She’s dating the Princess of England
-She miscarried the Crown Prince’s child last autumn
-She’s seen with a new man every week

Ophelia Hereford
The Eldest Daughter
vanessa-moody-for-el(1)-gthumb-gwdata1200-ghdata1200-gfitdatamax.jpg

fc: vanessa moody

Full Name: Ophelia Margaret Hereford
Nicknames: Fi, Ella
Age: 21
Birthdate: 17th July 1791
Title & Estate: Lady Ophelia Hereford, daughter of Viscount Hereford
Coming Out Year: 1812, this will be her second London season
Reputation: Last season Lady Hereford was the talk of the ton, and had no shortage of suitors. However, after failing to make a match last year, she begins this season with considerably less interest around her, and considerably more pressure to find herself a husband before the season's done.

Background: As the eldest Hereford daughter, Ophelia has always been aware of her responsibility to make a good match and make her family proud. To her, it seems like everything she's ever done has been to prepare for the next chapter of her life, for her to be a good wife to some lucky suitor. Her mother especially, thought it imperative that Ophelia was given a thorough education, and always advocated for Ophelia's wellbeing with her father, the Viscount Hereford. Thanks to her mother's persuasion, Ophelia grew up with her very own private tutor, Mr Woodfield, who taught her Latin, Spanish and Prussian, as well as Physics and Arithmetic. After Ophelia's mother passed when she was eleven, her father no longer saw fit to keep Mr Woodfield under his employ, instead finding Ophelia a tutor more suitable for a woman. She was allowed to continue her Latin, but was otherwise restricted to etiquette lessons and pianoforte, which she is rather proficient in.

Lady Ophelia excelled in her studies, and by all accounts blossomed into a wonderful young lady. She never fails in being graceful and prudent, and at her debut last year she was almost crowned the Jewel of the Season by Her Majesty the Queen, although she narrowly lost the title to Amelia Winthrop, now happily married. The reason why Ophelia herself didn't end last season happily married - or at least happily engaged - remains a mystery to many in the ton. The truth is, Ophelia fell in love, fast and quick - with the wrong man. Her doomed courtship was the talk of the ton while it lasted, a true love match - a rare thing nowadays - and everyone was left shocked when instead of ending in a proposal, the pair ended with his Lordship running away to France to fight for the King. That's all that's known of the story, but there are whispers around the ton that there's something more to it, and with the emergence of Lady Whistledown on the scene there's no telling what might get found out.

Relationships:
The Viscount Hereford: Ophelia respects her father, as any daughter should, but can't help but feel that he hasn't prepared her enough for young adulthood. His rule is strict, and she daren't question it, even if she fails to understand his reasoning sometimes.
The Viscountess Hereford: Ophelia felt that her mother was the one person that she always felt she could confide in, who understood the lady Ophelia would one day have to become. Her death rocked Ophelia to her core, but she's not the first person to lose a mother, and she certainly won't be the last.
Lady Hereford, her younger sister: Ophelia and her younger sister don't get on brilliantly. Ever since her mother died, Ophelia has felt the need to be help shepherd her. Her sister regularly rebels against Ophelia's sisterly advice, and Ophelia has somewhat come to resent her sister for how much their father seems to love her.
Lord Hereford, her younger brother: Ophelia's younger brother is still at the age where he doesn't mind his elder sister's attention, and she prays that the day will never come where this changes. He is, in many ways, her joy and she is trying her best to shield him from her father's expectations for as long as she can.

Virtues:
1. After many years of etiquette lessons, and filling her mother's shoes at her father's dinners, Ophelia is a great host and conversationalist.
2. Ophelia is incredibly smart, and although she daren't ever question the male authority figures in her life, should anyone need a quick thinker, Ophelia can help.
3. Taking after her mother, Ophelia is kind to a fault. You'll never catch her bad-mouthing anyone, and she would never stand in the way of someone else's dream.

Vices:
1. Ophelia has been raised with a strict moral code, and when others fall below the high standard she expects she can be unforgiving.
2. Well aware of her responsibilities, Ophelia doesn't take many things lightly, and has been branded as a bore by some of her peers.
3. People have always had high expectations of Ophelia, and in trying to live up to these standards, she has developed severe anxiety at being anything less than perfect.
Sexuality: Straight
Gender: Female
Faceclaim: Vanessa Moody

Suitors/Ladies: (in rough order of preference)
1. The Prince of Russia (12)
2. The Duke of Suffolk (16)
3. The Son of the Duke of York (11)
4. Son of the Marquess of Northampton (20)

Romantic Interests:
1. Son of the Marquess of Northampton (20)
2. The Knight (15)

How Do They Feel About Lady Whistledown?: Lady Whistledown, and the harm she might do to Ophelia's prospects this season terrifies Ophelia. It's fair to say that Ophelia has some skeletons in her closet, all she can do is pray that Lady Whistledown doesn't publish them before she has a ring on her finger.
How Do They Feel About London Society?: Normally Ophelia adores London Society. Sure, they can be gossiping, backstabbing animals, but she knows how not to drown among them. This season though, she can't help but be suspicious of anyone who might prevent her from finding a good match. She knows that a dreaded third season out will destroy her, so the pressure's on like never before.
Why Should They Be The Jewel of the Season?:Ophelia is, in many ways, the perfect lady. Demure, graceful, educated and beautiful, she comes from a good family (with a good dowry!) The only thing that reasonably might prevent her from earning the title as the Jewel of the Season are the slight hints of desperation that surround her.

Rumours:
1. The ton is alive with whispers about what might have happened between Ophelia and her beau last season. Although there is no evidence, there is talk that the pair may have even shared a kiss before he left.
2. Speaking of her beau, there's a rumour going around that he's sired a child in France, but would she take him back if he made her a proposal?
3. Some have rumoured that the Viscount has been less than careful with his spending since his wife's death, hopefully Ophelia's dowry is still intact!

Top Three:
1. Ophelia Hereford (Role 1)
2. Son of the Marquess of Northampton (Role 20)
3. There are multiple roles I'd be happy to double up in alongside Ophelia, especially some of the guys if you need more suitors!

demonology demonology would it be alright if I sent you the three secrets when/if my character is accepted?

My apologies, as I was hoping to add a bit more detail to this one. I tried my best, though I couldn’t help but have a clear idea of her personality and history in my head, but trouble writing it down. She’s sort of like a mix of Jo from Little Women and Lottie from the Princess and the Frog. Anyways, I hope you like her!

“Balls are so dreadfully boring, dear sister. Wouldn’t you agree?”

Full Name: Catherine Margaret Hereford
Nicknames: Cat, Cathy, Katie, Kitty, Peggy
Age: 20
Birthdate: May 13th

Sexuality: Asexual Biromantic (currently believes herself to be straight)
Gender: Cisgender Female
Faceclaim: Solange Smith

Title & Estate: Secondborn daughter of Viscount Hereford. She resides in Hereford Estate, a small mansion known for its beautifully tended garden surrounding the property, which Catherine often frequents.
Coming Out Year: Five years prior
Reputation: Beautiful yet unruly, often a jewel to some and a nuisance to others. Has potential.

“I’m a perfectly normal young woman, thank you very much!”
Personality: Where to begin with Ms Catherine Margaret Hereford. Giving numerous amounts of leniences can do a lot to a regency era girl. Due to her upbringing, she has no regards towards any traditional behavior expected of her whether it be of gender or nobility. Catherine represents all the leisure and grandeur of this time period; gossip and feasts and parties and music and art and poetry. She tends to view everyone around her as a friend, choosing a target to hover around them and chat away about the latest gossip or any particular interest she had recently became fixated on. Unfortunately, Catherine sometimes doesn’t understand traditional social cues, and will often be unaware if her presence is unwanted. This can play in her favor on a few occasions, as her energetic and imaginative nature often amusing both her adoring father as well as a few of the old staff members who feel lightened after working for a dusty old house for such a time. However, this most certainly doesn’t go over well with her neighbors and other immediate individuals in the nearby parts of town, who often tend to see her as unruly and unfit for a lady, especially one of such a high social caliber. Catherine grew up in a surrounding that didn’t really enforce many of the strict social rules that her sister had to deal with. She finds the idea of waiting around her whole life until she can be married off rather boring, and would much rather go exploring, going on quests to find pirates and monsters, like the ones in her novels. She hates standing around doing nothing at parties, and would rather dance along with the orchestra or maybe hijack it entirely and sing her own poetry. Why would she bother to waste her time standing around trying on tight corsets and hours of suffocating makeup, no matter how nice she looks in it, when she could be riding down the railways of the staircase or thinking about sixteen impossible things before breakfast? While sometimes not understanding it, she often dramatically denounces the sexist society they live in, often going on long winded rants or in the form of satires she had written, much to the delight of her father and the annoyance of her peers. She may be a bit oblivious, but she is certainly not ignorant, with some pointing to her as the reason why women in this time period should not be educated. She is an avid book reader and writer, with her dreams of becoming an author and traveling off to some far out place for inspiration. She spends a fair amount of time in the parlor room with her father, making her usual snappy teasing remarks, telling jokes and gossip of all sorts, and getting into intellectual debates, all while her older sister was forced to do everything herself. There are some things she does to the anger of her father, such as when she skips out on her father’s quality parlor time to read or search for secrets in the garden, write stories in her bedroom, or even sneak out at night to have a couple of drinks at the pub. Still, while a bit selfish, she never wants to hurt people at heart, but sometimes she gets a bit carried away in herself and just wants to make friends.
Vices:
-Hypocritical
-Arrogant
-A bit childish
-Oblivious
-A bit of a drunkard
-Insecure
Virtues:

Hobbies & Skills:

-Plays a decent harp
-Highly imaginative (often going on pseudo adventures in the garden and woods outside her house)
-Painting

Background: Due to her sister’s job to maintain the family reputation, Catherine was afforded many luxuries. Her father spent most of her childhood lavishing her in gifts of her choosing. This in turn left her with a significant lack of social cues. She spent most of her time, running amok in her family’s home, choosing to do what she pleased. This didn’t really tend to bother her father who found her antics rather amusing, laughing to himself about the time where she lied about an imaginary aunt or when she would hide the servant’s personal items underneath the floorboards. She would rarely go into town due to her being homeschool, except on the occasional trip to the market, where passerby’s watched the little demon jump into puddles, peer into windows, and scare off younger children by pretending she was a witch. (The latter of which she still tends to do). So when it was the girl’s coming out day, and seeing the 15 year old excitedly peer over the railing, swinging her feet back and forth, the nearby neighbors let out a collective nervous sigh and a few concerned eye glances. While the now adult viscount’s daughter has become adjusted to the trends, becoming a bit of a charismatic and party loving socialite with a penchant for alcohol, she still is the odd one out in a lot of social situations. Still, while dreading the thought of standing around while hordes of suitors try to win her hand, her optimistic and wily self has plans on how to make the most out of this ball.
Relationships:
-The Viscount Hereford: Ever since she had been young, Catherine had always been a father’s daughter. He seems to be one of the only people to understand her and lets her do as she pleases. He appears to see her as an equal for the most part, and definitely enjoys her company, always citing her as the one who could make her laugh. Still, something about her father upsets her to a degree. Sometimes she can’t help but feel as though she is nothing but a plaything to her father, a jester to keep him entertained while her mother is...gone. She feels as though everything she says makes him laugh, even when she’s being serious, and for the most part goes along with it. However, sometimes she channels this frustration and insecurity into a sense of rebellion, the reason why she occasionally goes against her father’s pretty lax limitations to do her own thing.
-The Viscountess Hereford: Catherine doesn’t like to talk about her mother that much after she passed away, often lashing out at those who choose to mention her, particularly in regards to her death. However, she remembers her mother rather fondly and seemed to have had a close, personal relationship with her.
-Eldest Daughter of the Viscount Hereford: Catherine adores her sister and sees her as her best friend, often confiding with her and sharing about the town’s latest drama. She often sees her as someone too serious and stuck up, often telling her to lighten up and live a little, without fully understanding her side of the situation. Catherine is secretly quite envious of her older sister, hurt that her sister was the one to get all the power, praise, responsibility, and reputation, while she is stuck entertaining her father, even if she doesn’t quite acknowledge her own privileges.
-Son of the Viscount Hereford: Catherine finds her little brother quite adorable, much to his chagrin. She encourages his mischievous and playful behavior and often has his accompany him as his pseudo mentor as she causes havoc throughout the estate.

Suitors/Ladies:
-Son of the Viscount Beresford: While the most likely to happen due to their matched social status, she feel enraged and frustrated due to his perpetual rudeness and cruelty, especially around women. She isn’t the best at social situations, even for a more extroverted person, but Catherine likes to think she would never be that mean.
-Knight: While she normally likes the Warrior types, the Knight’s hot headed nature and eagerness to fight tends to unnerve her.
-Son of the Marquess of Northampton: While initially she thought the Son of the Marquess of Northampton would be almost perfect due to his similar party-loving and carefree side, she quickly discovered that maybe they wouldn’t do well for each other because of that, especially due to Northampton’s arrange of secrets and his tendency to get drunk even more than herself.
-Crown Prince of England: While not likely to happen, one suitor considered for her was the Crown Prince of England, although after learning of his homosexuality, obviously she knew it wasn’t going to work out. Even besides the obvious, his eagerness to leave situations often clashed against her more optimistic attitude.

Romantic Interests:
(note: these are hypotheticals she could have with these individuals that I would be happy to expand upon with whomever is playing them. ordered top four with the first being my personal favorite.)
-General Baron Beauchamp: To confess, Catherine had always had a penchant for strong fighter types, often found in, but not limited to, the military. So when she first sees the General Baron, she’s immediately captivated. She approaches the Baron, who is confused and kind of annoyed with this bouncy and immature young woman who’s suddenly five inches in front of her, grinning. Catherine chats the baron’s ear off before offering to show them how she prefers to spend her time, getting them to warm up to her. Later on, after learning of the baron’s true identity as a woman, begins to question her sexuality. While she had thought herself to be straight up until this point (insisting that she isn‘t supposed to like girls), the heart wants what it wants and she still finds herself to be attracted to the Baron, no matter what gender they are.
-The Queen‘s Guard: She found herself drawn to another member of the army. (Albeit when he finally spent some time away from the Queen.) However, she was surprised to find him so soft and kind. Charmed by such a gentle and considerate being, she decided the guard deserved some time away from his Queen, and decides to show him around and have a night on the town, with many a flower picking ensuing.
-Duke of Suffolk: Seeing the Duke to be a stressed man forced with the burden of maintaining his late father’s livelihood, the burden less Catherine tries to comfort him and get him to loosen up and have fun for once.
-Son of the Duke of York: With the son of the Duke of York being annoyed with having to be at this party and Catherine being annoyed at having to mingle with a bunch of strangers in order to be married off, Catherine decides to vent her complaints to the duke’s son about this stupid party.
-Daughter of Sir Featherford: Bickering ensues with the ton’s darling who dreams of pursuing the title of jewel of the season and looking the best out of all the girls and Catherine who couldn’t care less, leading to a slight rivalry that could lead to something more.

How Do They Feel About Lady Whistledown?: She finds Lady Whistledown’s columns quite amusing compared to others, eating up every single bit of gossip she throws her way. She tends to laugh hysterically and poke fun at those who had been affected by this week’s paper. She often raises up the question to those around her, mostly her unfortunate older sister, about the identity of Lady Whistledown. Although she is not obsessed with solving the mystery, she tends to alert her friends and family whenever a new article has dropped. Apart from stories about herself that is. A single sentence about Catherine’s vices is enough to get her riled up, often ranting about the indignity of snooping around one’s personal matters and spreading such heinous rumors in an enraged hypocritical fashion.
How Do They Feel About London Society?: She has pretty mixed opinions of the whole ordeal. On one hand, she despises the sexism and stuffiness of the upper class she has been forced into. On the other, she finds the normal lives of London quite fascinating and appreciates the little things in life, moreso adoring the culture; food and drink and parties and music and dancing and nights at the pub.
Why Should They Be The Jewel of the Season?: (she really shouldn’t be.) Perhaps she could be considered the jewel of the season due to her tenacity, spunk, and willingness to say what she believes is right.
Why Should They Be Lady Whistledown?: I believe Catherine could be Lady Whistledown due to her partialness towards writing and creating drama. While not the best in social situations, she observes other from afar and studies their actions, often getting amusement from watching their squabbles and secrets like from a show. She has a sense of wit and satire in her writing, and due to her eccentric nature and her years of reading romantic literature no doubt chews the scenery and exaggerates herself as an all knowing and mysterious figure in her pages, just like the dramatic and grandiose antiheroes in the tales she grew up with.
Rumors:
-A spoiled little brat
-Was adopted when she was found in the woods by the Viscount on a hunting trip where she had been previously raised by wild animals (usually a joke/insult towards her unruly nature)
-Practices witchcraft
-Her father’s favorite child

Top Three:
-Daughter of the Baron Middleton
-Daughter of Baron Wilmington
-Blacksmith

I would also be perfectly alright with playing an original character if my audition is not accepted!

All sorts of things are whispered about this future-Duke in the time he pauses his 'travels' (abroad, or to less savory parts of London) to grace the ton with his presence. He's known to be one for the pursuit of pleasure especially where the arts are concerned. He's often sighted in the theatre, art exhibits, etc, and supposedly with lower-class women who frequent these establishments on his arm. Very little whispered about him is actually confirmed though, perhaps due to his father's perchance for clean-up.
