The St Louis office of LIBRIS is a rather nondescript, plain building, with a sign out front which reads MACDONALD PHARMACEUTICALS. (An excellent cover, as burglars are unlikely to risk encountering some nasty disease.)
LIBRIS has its own firing range and a gym for agents, as well as a forensics lab, morgue and holding cells--all as befitting a law enforcement agency. Most of the building, though, consists of Dispatch and the Archives.
THE ARCHIVES
The Archives contains original prints of many works of folklore and legend, and the archivists are constantly updating the Index, examining case files for new details and connections between stories. Computers are only used for external communication. All records are either handwritten or typed on a mechanical typewriter. The Narrative is sneaky, and digital information is too easily altered.
Water and fire elementals are asked to stay out of the Archives, as are dragons not classified as "bookwyrms".
THE VAULT
The Vault is for storing enchanted items, such as Sevenleague Boots, Monkey's Paws, and Sleeping Spindles. Many items are kept under lock and key, never to see the light of day, while others can checked out for specific purposes. It's always very cold in the Vault, and smells of thunderstorms.
Do NOT try on any shoes.
Do NOT put on any jewelry.
Do NOT talk to the mirrors unsupervised.
Do NOT eat anything.
Do NOT touch anything pointy.
Basically, whatever you're thinking, DON'T DO IT. It's probably a bad idea, and likely not even yours.
DISPATCH
Dispatch uses methods such as radio scanners, periodical research and divination to monitor the are for signs of potential literary incursion. If an active or potential incursion or Memetic Event is identified, Dispatch alerts the appropriate team to the site.
FIELD AGENT OFFICES
The decor is so out of date it's due to be fashionable soon, desks are typically piled high with paperwork, the aroma of leather and ink is everywhere, and one can always hear the clacking of typewriters. Field teams with Elves or Red Hens on the roster are easy to spot by the lack of clutter and chaos.
