(Pictured is Anya Taylor-Joy)
Name: Delaynee Ray Peterson
Age: 17-21
Personality:
From the outside, Delaynee seems like a serious person. She's very focused on school and her future, which often leaves little time for much else. Though she's the first to admit that her future is the most important thing on her mind, she's also very interested in keeping up relationships and a social status. She's often found at parties, chatting with a few of her friends or dancing with someone. She's not really the type to smoke or drink, but she isn't against trying anything once. While she is a nice person, she can also come off as a bit cold or emotionless, mainly because of how she was raised. She hates to admit it, but she can be a little controlling when given the chance. This is something she'll abruptly stop if someone points her out on it, however.
Appearance:
Delaynee is 5'7", which is above average for women. She's got a slight frame but often covers it with oversized sweaters or t-shirts. She has brown, almost hazel eyes, that are wide and almond shaped. She has an oval shaped face which can often come off as childish when she's not wearing any makeup. Her hair goes down to her mid-back and is a deep brown -nearly black- color.
Background:
Delaynee's life isn't what one would call tragic. Instead, she was loved by both her parents and her nanny. Her family was rather well off, thanks to her father's job as an attorney and her mother's job as a doctor. Rules were a large part of her life, which probably led to her habit of bossing people around by default. She was only allowed to spend the night at her friend's house if her parents knew the friend's parents personally, and she was never allowed out of the house unsupervised until she turned sixteen. All her life she's been surrounded by people, whether they're her distant family members in for the holidays or her parents' friends visiting for dinner. She's learned to watch people, learn their habits and quirks, and hopes to one day put this talent to good use by studying to become a psychiatrist. She has big plans for her future, and often forgets to focus on the present.

Sylvia Montague

BASICAge: 36
Gender:Female
Sexuality: Homosexual/Homoromantic
Relationship Status: Married
Occupation: Homicide Detective

PERSONALITYIf Sylvia was to be described using one word, it would be determined. She's spent her whole life believing that if she really puts her mind to something she can do it, no matter how hard or impossible it might seem. She learned at a young age that not everybody was going to like you, but even when you felt like giving up, you had to keep moving. Sylvia's determined spirit is a big part of her love for foster kids; no matter how out of hand or how broken they were, with the help of her wife, Sylvia could help them.

If you were to ask Sylvia's wife, Taylor, how she would describe the woman, you'd get a long answer. She's a sweet, compassionate person who wants to make the world a better place, hence the reason she became a homicide detective. Sylvia is very family-orientated, despite not having any blood children. Her determination to help people has made her out to be a bit of a saint to some, especially the families of the victims of her cases. She's often referred to as the constant in the police department, because no matter which way the precinct swayed, Sylvia would be there, still as stubborn as she'd always been.

Stubbornness is something she learned from her family at a very young age. The Montague's had never had it easy, having to fight their way to the watering hole, so to speak. She learned from her experiences, and learned that if she put her mind to something, there was little to no chance of persuading her to do otherwise.

While she is kind to her foster children, she can also be a bit strict. Having learned from past experiences that it was harder at first to trust a foster kid, especially one who had been through hell, Sylvia has a set amount of rules for her household, and she expects them to be followed. She's never given up on a foster kid, but she's come close. She knows that she doesn't want to send kids back to the terrible group homes that they came from, so she tries her hardest to help them learn.

From a life of fighting crime, it's only fair that Sylvia is observant. She can usually tell if someone is going to give her problems the first time she sees them, and can often tell when people are lying. However, she's been outsmarted before, and it's sure to happen again.

BACKGROUNDSylvia was born to a disabled veteran and a full-time waitress on a chilly night in October. She didn't have it easy growing up, for besides the checks her father got every month, her mother was the sole provider of the household. Sylvia was the youngest of four children with two older sisters and one older brother. It was hard for the four kids to get the attention they deserved, seeing as their mother was always working and their father was incredibly weak and in and out of hospitals often. This left a large part of the responsibility on Sylvia's older brother, Nathaniel.

Nathaniel pretty much devoted his life to his little sisters, even dropping out of school in his tenth grade year when their father passed away from complications of his battle injury. Their mother appreciated Nathaniel's help, but always wished things could have been different. After he got his GED, Nathan became a police officer when Sylvia's oldest sister was old enough to care for them. All her life, Sylvia had wanted to be like her brother, so it was then, when she was eight years old, that she decided she wanted to be a cop.

It was when Sylvia was fourteen that she found out she was different. As her sisters went out with boys and tried to set her up, she learned that she wasn't all that attracted to boys. Sure, she thought they weren't bad looking, but when imagining her future, she never pictured a man in her life. Finally, Sylvia found out why when she went to a friend's slumber party and they played spin the bottle with all girl players. Kissing girls was kinda fun!

Despite their problems, the family persevered, the rest of the Montague kids went on to graduate high school, the middle girl even graduated with honors. As Sylvia's sisters went off to college, she worked her way through the police academy, becoming a rookie cop at the age of twenty years. She was top of her class in academy, and highly thought of by the chief. Many of her peers thought she was sucking up, but in reality, Sylvia wanted to be the best she could be.

When she was twenty-three, Sylvia met the love of her life, though Taylor didn't know that then. She was a journalist, sent to interview Sylvia after a break in a big case. Despite Sylvia's many attempts at flirting during the interview, Taylor didn't seem to catch on. Only when Sylvia tracked down her number and called her, asking her on a date, did Taylor realize the police officer had feelings for her. They went on a date, and then another date. They were together for three years before Sylvia finally worked the nerve to propose.

Sylvia's first encounter with a foster kid was when she was twenty-seven. She had just been promoted to Homicide Detective, and it was her first case under her new title. This child had witnessed her mother's death, and was incredibly scarred. Being the compassionate people they were, Sylvia and Taylor took the kid in until another family member could be tracked down. Despite the many nights the girl kept them up crying, despite the tantrums, the outbursts, the two women fell in love with helping young people. After the young girl was taken to her family, Sylvia and Taylor had a long talk about becoming foster parents.

They've housed many children of all ages throughout the years, and wouldn't trade their memories for the world. Their current charge, Sarah Mitchel, is a good kid whom they've been taking care of for nearly two years, and they are about to take in another.
