The terminology unique to RWBY will be posted here to aid players in understanding the ins and outs of the world of Remnant.

Huntsman/Huntress: Licensed warriors whose duty is defined as 'upholding the peace'. Whether this is through the extermination of the Grimm or bringing down a criminal organization, these defenders of peace are humanity's best hope for survival. Prospective Hunters begin their training at a young age and enroll in Primary Combat Schools where they are prepared for the rigors of their occupation. Following their graduation from one of these numerous institutes, particularly skilled students advance to their next stage of education: Huntsmen Academies. In total, there are 4 officially recognized academies - each of these correspond to one of Remnant's four Kingdoms. Arcadia Academy stands out as a Huntsman Academy unaffiliated with these Kingdoms, yet still just as prestigious as its counterparts.

Grimm: The creatures of darkness that have assaulted humanity since the dawn of time. These monsters are seemingly endless in number and can be found in most environments. The Grimm are mysterious creatures whose origins have been lost to the ages - research upon them is hampered by the fact that they die out quickly in captivity. Furthermore, their bodies mysteriously dissipate into a strange miasma upon death. These enemies of humanity are attracted to negative emotions and it's been observed that their attacks only grow more frenzied as their prey panic and lose face. Grimm also seem to develop more intelligence as they age and survive - underestimating these creatures is a surefire way to die.

Faunus: The other intelligent race that inhabits Remnant. The Faunus are indistinguishable from humans aside from one regard - they all have one animalistic trait. Sometimes, this may manifest as feline ears atop ones head or a simian tail. Non-physical traits may also appear in these people such as food preference. Historically, the Faunus have long been discriminated against for their oftentimes frightening characteristics such as their fangs or claws. After the conclusion of the Great War, however, the Faunus were granted equal rights and a land of their own - Menagerie. When humans attempted to countermand this progress, a conflict known as the Faunus Rights Revolution broke out. This conflict would later spawn certain interest groups...

Cross Continental Transmit System (CCTS): Through the use of five towers, the CCTS allows Kingdoms to engage in the long-range transmission of visual, audio, and text data. This wondrous technology pioneered by Atlas led to a communication revolution and a greater spread of knowledge across Remnant. Connection to the CCTS grows weaker as one strays further away from a tower - though support smaller support towers do exist. Though there were initially only four tower that corresponded to each Kingdom, a fifth was erected in Arcadia as result of a certain Atlesian family's influence...
