Nature: Caregiver
Humanity: 8
Personality: Calm and gentle, her presence carries a sense of peace wherever she may go. Leona despises violence, particularly when that's the first route one may take. That said she does understand that there are times where striking down one's foe is the only option available. Even prior to her Embrace, Leona was quick to jump to the defense of those in need. Now with the abilities granted through her Kindred nature, she can better protect and tend to them.

If not caught in the midst of a battle or diffusing a tense situation, Leona generally has a laid-back and playful attitude. She can often be found playing games with kids or entertaining them with her music. That said she does take her duties as a healer and agent of the Divine seriously. Rarely has her temper been flared, but the few times it has proved the small woman could be fairly intimidating in her own right.

History: Born nearly eight hundred years ago, Leona spent most of her childhood as nothing more than a lonely waif just trying to survive to the next day. That all changed when she was found by healers from the Via Caeli and was taken into their care. Members of this holy order viewed their Vampiric nature as part of God's great plan and that those Embraced were tasked to carry out duties normally beyond the abilities of mortal man. This Salubri order is split into two paths: the Path of the Healer, and the Path of the Warrior. Leona chose to follow the Path of the Healer, hoping to save those not unlike how she once was.

While the warriors may purge evil, the healers tend to those affected by it. There are many times they have helped those thought to be beyond saving find redemption, something Leona always strives to do. Even if it may mean butting heads with her warrior husband Gabriel at times. While battles with demonic forces have thinned this bloodline's number considerably, there are still whispered tales of three eyed healers mending wounds and repairing shattered minds. With news of the current state of the City of Kings, Leona and Gabriel head there to do what they can to set things right.

Auspex: 6
Fortitude: 3
Obeah: 7
True Faith: 1

Disciplines:

Auspex

  • Heightened Senses: This power sharpens all of the vampire's senses, effectively doubling the clarity and range of sight, hearing and smell. While her senses of taste and touch extend no farther than normal, they likewise become far more acute.
  • An Ear for lies: This power allows the user to know when someone is lying to him. To the Cainite, lies stand out, harsh and discordant from all other speech.
  • Aura Perception: Using this power, the vampire can perceive the psychic "auras" that radiate from mortals and supernatural beings alike. These halos comprise a shifting series of colors that take practice to discern with clarity.
  • Cipher: The character can understand any written material, even in a language with which she is unfamiliar or scribed in code. Only words with some supernatural nature - such as a Malkavian's Scrawl or Thaumaturgical runes - cannot be read.
  • Discern the Aura: A more wide-reaching if less precise enhancement of Aura Sight, Discern the Aura allows the Kindred to glance over a group of individuals and pick out all those who show a specific color, emotion or state of being in their auras. The character could, for instance, glance around a room, an auditorium or even at passersby on the street and pick out everyone who is angry, or frightened or even Kindred.
  • Spirit Link: With Spirit Link, the character can engage in telepathic communication with a number of people. Everyone thus engaged can communicate at leisure with all the others in the Spirit Link. Each individual in the link can hear what anyone else says. This power may not be used to read minds.
Fortitude

  • Penitent Resilience: With this power, a Salubri may briefly walk in the brightest sunlight without fear of injury. His purity defends him, allowing the sun to burn the Curse within and leave the flesh unmarred. Using this power constantly draws on the Kindred's blood pool.
Obeah

  • Sense Vitality: The Salubri can feel the flow of a subject's life force after touching him. Sense Vitality may be used to determine how much damage a person can withstand before death, which can be useful in sizing up a potential opponent. It can also aid in medical diagnosis or feeding, as it can reveal infections and diseases.
  • Anesthetic Touch: This power may be used to block a voluntary subject's pain from wounds or disease or to put a mortal to sleep. As with Sense Vitality, physical contact is required to anesthetize someone. This power may not be used to block the Salubri's own pain.
  • Auguring the Sickness: Another diagnostic tool in the hands of the Salubri, this power allows a Healer to discover both the severity and nature of the sickness plaguing her patient, although it offers no information about the cure.
  • Corpore Sano: The Salubri may heal the injuries of others by laying his hands over the wound and channeling his own energies into the healing process. The subject feels a warm tingling in the affected area as it heals.
  • Shepard's Watch: The Salubri with this level of mastery of Obeah can create an invisible barrier between those under his care and those who would do them harm. The Salubri himself must stand among his charges as he generates this barrier; he cannot defend them from afar. Enemies armed with projectile weapons or even hurled rocks can still attack, but none may approach closer than about four paces.
  • Peacemaker: This gift is found among the healers, although a few of the warriors have procured it for themselves. This allows the Salubri to spread an aura of calm and peace around a small chamber. Under its influence, tempers that had flared out of control find restraint, and arguments over trifles are reduced to differences of opinion.
  • King David's Blessing: It is said that music has the power to sooth the savage beast. When you sing or play an instrument, your patients seem to heal better and relax more. This can help someone forget his physical pain, draw him out of depression, or even assist another healer in working her craft.
  • Mens Sana: This power allows the Salubri to remove a subject's derangements, or at least mitigate their effects for a time if used on a Malkavian.
  • Unburdening the Bestial Soul: The mainstay of the healing abilities of the Salubri, this power allows a character to stare into another individual's eyes and draw the subject's soul out of his body and into the Salubri's third eye, storing it within the Salubri's own soul while working powerful healing magics on it. The subject's body becomes a mindless husk while it lacks a soul, and may not be affected by any mind-altering Disciplines or other supernatural powers - there's no mind there to control. However, it does respond to simple verbal commands from the Salubri who has its soul. If not reminded to eat or perform other personal upkeep, the body will not do so and will eventually die. In the case of a willing subject, the use of this power feels pleasant; the subject's soul slips from its shell into the warm embrace of a loving healer. The sensation of being ripped from one's body against one's will, however, is as unpleasant as might be imagined.
  • Renewed Vigor: The Salubri who has developed this power has heightened his healing abilities to such a degree that he can heal virtually any ailment as long as the subject still lives. All that is required is a touch and a brief moment of concentration. The Salubri may use this power on herself.
  • Safe Passage: The Salubri may use this power to pass through a crowd without fear of harm. This is not a power that makes the vampire "invisible to the mind" as Obfuscate does, but rather a sort of "active neutrality" that makes all around the vampire inclined to treat her favorably and step out of her way. She seems inoffensive, pleasant and harmless, and people are respectful and helpful to her without stopping to consider why. This power also ensures that anyone who pursues the vampire or obviously wishes to do her harm is met with unfavorable reactions by those who have been affected by Safe Passage. The Salubri may choose to "turn off" this power, but it is always in effect otherwise.
Abilities

  • Capable of speaking Latin, Hebrew, and Enochian
