Realistic or Modern Legacy Pollentia

Erin popped up in the Cathedral with the others. But she showed up during the line "We aren't going to baby you." Thankfully she saw the big crowd heading towards the Cathedral. If not for that she would be screwed. "My lord me that was close. Consider this luck, and that it will run out if you keep doing this." She heard the artist she recognized suggest something. And she thought it was a good idea. "I'm with him. We should drop our stuff off so we don't risk losing it during the celebration." She held to that idea cause she was not going to lose her PSP and her copy of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite.

"Just because you didn't feel comfortable with whatever secret belongings you had with the other students to give them all your stuff to bring them to your dorms, doesn't mean everyone has things on them to bring back to their dorms themselves." Kaiko responds to the two, a bit insensitive. She usually doesn't trust people often, but she felt that the other students from before should be considered akin to an employee- just doing their jobs. She brushes her hand through her hair, before looking to Makan.

"What sort of stores are around? Corner stores, malls, super markets?" The dark haired dragoness asks, her long hair falling out of place somewhat and covering her ear's tips. "And why is this building the way it is? It'd seem like it's directed towards religions, but it's clearly not only that..."

After listening to the intriguing and awe-inspiring speech given by the seemingly young headmaster, Thomas notices the teachers returning and mentioning a celebration.

"Heh... It would be nice to get to know some more people, yet I'm not sure of my belongings accompanying me. Never know if someone will snatch them right out of my sight--"

Just then, Thomas hears one of the nearby teachers dismiss the request to go to the dorms first. "Well then, can't say I saw that coming..."

Koruma's neutral grin turns down at the corners slightly, affronted by the rudeness of the pointy-eared lass's comment and even more so by the way she so flippantly dismisses the issue.

He folds his arms and frowns slightly in thought.
"Huh. She must have had an unpleasant experience on the ferry ride; she seems rather irritable. Oh well. I should probably point out, though, that the reason I want to go to the dorms is not because I have any 'secret belongings'."

He raises a hand and announces his new thought.
"Actually, it's not that I have any 'secret belongings'. I trust the security around here, but I don't trust people I just met and don't even know with my handling my personal sentimental possessions. However you do raise a fair point - not all of us here necessarily need to drop off anything."
He turns more toward Ms. Makan and the rest of the group.
"How about we split up and reconvene somewhere later. I mean, we all received a map of the island in one way or another, right? Not to mention, we'll probably have escorts who know their way around anyway."

"Do you not give flight attendants your luggage when you board a plane, either?" Kaiko questions rhetorically, a sarcastic smile spreading across her face. A small puff of magenta smoke escapes her lips as the words ease out, her fangs showing slightly. She may think Koruma is a whackjob, given her own views on the people who helped them.

She lets out a quiet groan at the other's new idea. Ugh, he actually sounded smart for once. She thought the kid was a moron... Eh... Most smart people are insane, though. She seems to forget that sometimes, and thinks she's the only smart and crazy one. Oh well... She shrugs nonchalantly.

"At least you have some good ideas in that head of yours." She speaks, rather softly, before turning to Makan to hear her opinion on the matter. Kaiko still wanted an answer to her own questions, as well.

Makan however was slightly upset over her offer being half thrown back into her face. She however knew a way to salvage it.

6.png

"Give me a minute tops." She responded, walking into the crowd. Sure enough, in a minute she returned, though this time she was not alone. Accompanying her was a girl with short green hair and piercing, almost light-like red eyes. "This is Camilla V. Naturia. She's one of my best students and can guide you all to the dorms and then to The Milky Way after you're all done there. Kaiko, if you don't mind I'd like some help setting up at The Milky Way." Makan requested. "I can answer your questions on the way."

Meanwhile the newcomer turned to everyone else.

8.png

"Well, I've already been introduced anyway, but one again I'm Camilla V. Naturia, one of the top students of the Neutral Track." She explained to the group. "Ms. Tsugumori asked me to take care of you all until we can reconvene to celebrate, so if you would like me to guide you to the residential district that would be no problem at all."

Koruma watches Kaiko as she retorts, and an nervous bead of sweat forms as he tries to remain as polite and respectful as he can muster. He forces a smile.
"You are a delightful person..."

As the new student steps forward, he turns his attention toward her. Her eyes catch his attention immediately as she introduces herself.
"Woah, those eyes are stunning. Sun seems to catch them just right! I'd love to sketch them if I get the chance."
He focuses more on them, squinting slightly.
"Wait... are they...?"
He blinks a couple times to clear vision.
"Must have just been my imagination."

As the girl finishes and leads away the smaller portion of the group headed for the dorms, he catches up to her and pipes up.
"Uh, Ms. Naturia, was it? I was wondering if you would let me sketch you sometime later."
Then, realizing how creepy he might sound, he hastily introduces himself.
"O-oh, I'm Koruma, by the way. I'm an artist," he says as he lifts up his art bag slightly in gesture.

"There's no need to force yourself to be polite to me and lie if you do not feel that way. I have a strong distaste for people who fake sincerity." The dragoness responds, a hint of venomous aggravation dripping from her soft spoken words.

"Yes, that is quite alright." The long eared female turns her attention to Makan again, preferring the teacher's company, apparently. "I may ask for directions for what you need help with, from time to time, though." The girl speaks quietly as she trots after the long brown haired female.

"In which case we will reconvene at The Milky Way. Camilla will help you all with any problems that you have. Now then, if you'll excuse us we'll be off." Makan told the group, taking Kaiko with her.

6.png

"Well then, just follow me and I'll have us there soon." Camilla assured the group, taking them outside and leading them through the city. Everything looked so high tech, state of the art, and fancy. Also expensive. Very much expensive. SCALES definitely went all out here.

It did not take long before they reached the dorms. Several buildings of different colors each flooded their field of vision. There was even one medium sized house on the outskirts that looked kind of like a modern witch's house. The purpose of that however, was unclear and Camilla just walked right on past it until she reached a light blue building.

"This is Stardust Hall. It's where all the new students stay. I also have your rooms here." She announced, looking at her phone. "Erin and Kaiko are in room 212, and Thomas and Koruma are across the hall from them in room 213." She told them, waving her hand over a security panel and opening the door, leading them all inside and up to the second floor. The dorm seemed to fit the rest of the Isle of Pollentia, that is to say it was stylized, big, and fancy. Light blue seemed to be the color of choice here, and the theme of stardust was everywhere to be seen. Yet it was never too much or overwhelming. It was always tasteful. One might think that interior decorators here made up the entirety of the one percent based on just how common this sort of care put into the architecture was, and they may not be too wrong...

Eventually they got to their rooms, and Camilla opened them for each student. They were a four room style with a common area, two bedrooms, and a bathroom. Each bedroom had one bed, a desk, a chair, and a window. They were surprisingly basic in contrast to literally everything fucking else. In the common room was a sofa, a table, a fully stocked kitchen complete with a counter and fridge, some chairs and a TV with a stand. A window was also present here as well, as well as all the luggage that they had given The Mythos Exchange earlier to transport here. The bathroom was equipped with both a tub and shower, as well as a sink and a toilet, for obvious reasons.

16Ranka01.png

"There should be an envelope on each of your beds with some basic information about the island, the student code of conduct, a map and a QR code to get an app for the island, and each of your student ID cards. You're going to need those for everything, so Erin if you could grab Kaiko's for her and give it to her when we meet up it would be nice. If any of you need help unpacking or have any questions I'll be here, but if not I'll just let you guys do your thing until we're ready to go meet the others." Camilla explained, setting them free to unpack. "Oh and by the way, whenever we both have time sure." She said to Koruma. "Sorry, I nearly forgot."

Meanwhile the other pair headed in a different direction. The scenery was similar however, all impressive. As they journeyed together, Makan began to answer her questions from before.

15.png

"Ok well I'm sure you can see that we do have all sorts of stores here. The commercial district imports items from all around the world, so it's really just a matter of finding a specialty shop. Food trucks and such are also on campus, as well as more general and convenience stores. Though they can be found just about anywhere."

"And as for the cathedral, it isn't meant to be dedicated to any particular God. You're right about that. It is meant to be dedicated to the concept of balance. Specifically between good and evil, but really in all things. It's known as the Cathedral of Duality because of it. Alkaid was very involved in pretty much every little detail. She can get pretty intense when she wants something done exactly like she dreams it up. It cost quite a lot too, but it's very peaceful. Students go there to pray, and it holds a variety of religious services for the people who live here. But it does more than religious events, seeing as we had our opening ceremonies there. If you want to know more though, you should talk to the Archbishop." Makan suggested. "If you have any other questions, then feel free to ask for clarification." She offered as they neared a building.

This building was pretty huge. It was clearly space themed, and stylized much like everything else here. On the wall in neon letters shown the words: The Milky Way. Sounds of games and life could be heard from the inside. Makan had mentioned before that this place was a restaurant, game store, and arcade all in one. What she had neglected to mention was just how impressive it actually did look, and how busy it was. This place was really popular.

Oh, and she also didn't mention the one long brown haired girl out front carrying an umbrella despite the sun and waving into the place but not going inside. It was like she was trying, yet failing, to get the attention of somebody on the inside.

Koruma's face lights up as the red-eyed senior accepts his request. He claps his hands together excitedly.
"Ah, excellent, thank you! Now, if you'll excuse me I have a couple things to take care of inside."
He nods his head in a loose imitation of a bow and excitedly hurries inside Room 213 before his new roommate.

Once inside, he walks into the center of the common area and inhales deeply, closing his eyes and focusing. The smell of fresh linens and faint hints of various cleaning supplies permeate his nose. He opens his eyes and smiles earnestly.
"Smells like new beginnings."

He goes over to the room that is presumably his and opens the door, taking in the scene of his new living quarters in full. He sees the letter sitting on the bed, just as Camilla said, and goes over to pick it up. His name is printed on the face of the envelope. He flips it over and the school's official seal bares its presence on the mouth, keeping the envelope shut. He carefully breaks the wax seal and pulls out the letter, letting his new student ID fall into his hand. He unfolds the letter and looks for the QR code immediately.
"Might as well have it downloading and installing while I read."
He finds it, pulls out his phone and gets that process going while he reads the letter carefully.
"Not very specific rules, are they."
He raises an eyebrow and lowers it again as he realizes that the full rules are probably explained more thoroughly on the app.
"Aaah..."

After he finishes reading the letter and the app finishes doing its thing, he looks at the picture on the ID.
"Eesh, I should probably get a haircut sometime," he says, comparing his photo and his current visage. He runs a few fingers through his bangs, the hair falling back down right back to eyebrow level, and shrugs.
"Oh well. Later, maybe."

He tucks his ID in between the leather of his bracers and his forearm and then goes out to bring his bags back into his room, setting the clothes cases on top of the bed so he would remember to hang them up after they retired for the night, and the sketchbag from the corner post of his bed.

In his room, he looks around, heaves a sigh, then fishes for his locket. The gems all flash for a fraction of a second and the locket opens. He looks at the picture of his mother and father in the open face of the locket.
Quietly, almost reverantly, he speaks to the locket with a wistful look in his eyes. "I've made it, old man. From here-on, everything credited to my name will be from the work of my own hands. I'll make you proud someday."
He clasps the locket back shut with a *snick* as it seals again, and tucks it back underneath his chainmail.

He comes back out into the common area, newly determined, and sees if Thomas needs help with any of his luggage.

"Does that mean people could, perhaps, go to the cathedral for simply getting away from the rest of the sounds on the island?" Kaiko questions, her long elf-like ears twitching. She was never fond of loud noises, after all... so it perhaps would benefit her to use that as her new sanctuary.

Kkwzrsg.png

Kaiko, upon seeing the beauty of technology, looks on in awe at the world around her. Since she lived most of her life in suburban, to even rural areas... This was extremely new to her. She rarely visited much more populated areas like this. Especially The Milky Way. ...That was nothing like she had imagined. She stares, awestruck.

3Tc4KEo.png

At the sight of the brown haired girl, her eyebrows rise up. ...Was she okay? The dragoness walks slowly up to her, intending to ask just that. She wasn't too off put by the umbrella, since one of her friends did something similar- they said they had sensitive skin, or something...

1Pq3dfY.png

"Excuse me... Are you alright?" The female questions. She may seem crude to some people, but only if they give her a reason to. And she doesn't think the other girl seems bad- just... lost, perhaps? Confused? She doesn't know.

The girl turned to the dragoness, looking her up and down. She put her finger to her temple, thinking, appraising her. It was a bit overdramatic honestly. She even made the hmmmmmmm noise. And then she spoke.

icon 10.jpg

"Well that depends on how you define alright!" She said enthusiastically. "I am currently not dying of dysentery so that's good! I also don't have ebola or malaria so that's a step in the right direction too! Financially I'm fine since the academy pays for all of my expenses in exchange for what I do for them, so that situation is also alright. My love life is also very much more than just alright. I am QUITE fortunate on that front indeed!"

icon 16.png

"Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut if you mean right this second then I am ABSOLUTELY NOT ALRIGHT!" The mysterious girl flipped immediately! "I'm trying to get their attention so I can go inside but nobody is taking the hint! I don't want to stay out here any longer so can you please help me?!"

QlDW49J.png

"Ehh..." Kaiko's ears flatten as the girl shouts, before letting out a sigh. "You're... Very excitable." She mutters, her nails extending slightly as she brushes a hand through her own locks, before letting her hand limp next to her again.

jlWTID9.png

"...What?" Kaiko stares in confusion, her eyes narrowing at her at the mention of not being able to enter. "...Is the door locked?" The dragoness turns to Makan as she asks the question, gesturing to the door with her shoulder, as though asking her as well.

bwn2grH.png

Kaiko blinks, wondering why she doesn't just go inside... Or at least do a better job of getting their attention. "Why don't you shout or bang on the window a bit? Or ...knock on the door? I am not sure waving itself is the best attempt at getting attention, if you truly need it to enter..."

FemaleHakuno11.png

"Well I'd be going in there if I could! But I physically can't!" She responded as another person just went in while they were talking, confirming that the door was indeed unlocked. "I need the owner to invite me in or I can't go! I swear this happens every time!" The girl complained.

"Oh and by the way, I'm Aesir, Natalie Aesir. Nice to meet you miss!" Natalie smiled, extending her hand but making sure to keep it under her umbrella.

Erin entered her dorm and placed her stuff down where no one would trip over it. Along with that she took her games and placed them in a dark area. Should anyone reach into this one area she'll know and pop in and give em a scare. "Let's hope I don't have one of those snooping roomates." She turned around about to leave dorm.

Yet, it felt as if Erin was being watched. Though, it was impossible to tell from where. It felt as if it was from nowhere, yet everywhere at the same time. It felt as if the world itself, and yet nothing around her were all gazing deep into her soul. If she was not careful, it would feel, and begin to look like the world was made of eyes, all looking at her.

"I'm watching you..." Came a voice with no origin. "And I don't think that you'll disappoint me." Then suddenly the eyes vanished, and Erin came back to reality.

Erin was surprised when it looked like everything went full Disney. There were eyes everywhere. And a voice that said something about watching her. "Aaand I have attracted Cthulu, And I have read too much HP Lovecraft to know what will happen to me in the end." Erin joked clearly giggling about the thought.

"I mean if you want to compare me to him then I can just kill you now." The voice returned. A splitting pain started affecting Erin's head. "Those guys are dicks and I prefer not to be associated with them. Do not do so again. If you agree, then the pain will stop. I'm not like them! I'm different!" The voice sounded very annoyed and pretty defensive, though slightly unsure. It was almost like they were trying to convince themself.

"Ow OK OK I'm sorry I didn't mean to offend you. I'm did not mean any insult I just thought with the out of nowhere stuff that I make a joke. Please don't make my head go in two!" Erin plead as she fell to her knees grasping her head in pain.

"Every time...?" Kaiko responds questioningly, her finger stopping mid-twirl in her hair, before releasing it. "...Why don't you just ask for like... a blanket permission, or something..."

44diKG3.png

Kaiko scowls at herself after a moment, annoyed with herself for even entertaining the idea. Why was she doing that, she had no idea. It seems like the girl is genuine, though...

"Ah..." Kaiko responds quietly, grasping the other girl's hand slightly. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Natalie."

"Hey Erin, are you ok?" Camilla asked, now in the room with her. She had apparently slipped in while Erin was unable to notice. "There's nobody else here, are you maybe just stressed out?" There was clear concern in her voice. It was obvious that Camilla cared. And not that she thought about it, the pain in Erin's head was all gone. Was it maybe all just a dream?

No definitely not. That would be cliched and stupid. There was clearly more to this. She still felt like she was being watched after all, but it was nowhere near as overwhelming.

natalie nyarko ref icon 10.png

"I'm trying to! I have letters for other places that give me blanket permission, but Pivot is always so busy she always forgets!" Natalie exclaimed, then sighed. "It's always a struggle. But at least I have a new friend now." She continued, smiling at Kaiko.

icon 7.png

"So what's your name? Tell me about yourself. I want to know EVERYTHING!"

Erin was about to mention the pain in her head and the vision but she decided against it. No chance she was going to seem like a mad women "It's fine just me being tired from the boat ride. Mother warned me traveling on boat would make you tired and a little off. Sorry to worry you Ms.Camilla." Erin got back up and tried her best to pay whatever this presence was no mind. Whatever just happened is in the past. And she had to test the waters and hopefully it doesn't get pissed due to her trying to ignore it.

"O-Oh! Uhm..?!" Kaiko stutters at the sudden smile and suggestion at her being Natalie's friend, confused. She's not used to having friends- so now she is very clearly confused.

"Uh..." Kaiko lets out a puff of magenta smoke escape from her lips, before looking a bit shyly at Natalie. Her moods switch so fast it's... hard to keep track, even for Kaiko herself.

"My name is Kaiko. Kaiko Hikea. It's a pleasure to meet you, Natalie." She nods to the other. "Uhm... I don't know what you mean, though? Can you give me some topics to discuss?" The female tilts her head at the other umbrella holding girl.
