Background
Abandoned at birth, Leandra has struggled to survive outside of clan life. She was born with raven black hair, but what terrified her parents was her jet black eyes. They feared she was a demon incarnate and thus, she was left in the forest beyond her clan's territory. Luckily for her, other clan outcasts found her, as she had been abandoned in an area that the clan often used for this purpose. She was raised to survive on the land around her and was taught to be caring and understanding of all, regardless of what may be wrong with the person or animal. She grew up seeking out small wildlife and often rescuing young animals that had gotten hurt somehow. The clan outcasts enforced only hunting for what was needed and to never harm an animal unless it was in self-defense.

As a child, Leandra found a raven caught in a cruel glue trap that some other clan outcast kids had set up. Not all of the clan outcasts took in the learnings as well as Leandra did. She actively sought to do better in a world that had turned its back on her. And thus, she carefully helped get the raven out of the glue trap. She also nursed it back to health and in turn, the raven became her little companion. The two became troublemakers in time, as her raven loved to steal shiny trinkets and Leandra delighted in teaching him tricks. Over time, she came to name the raven Denali, enjoying the Elven name for it and the simple fact that she could now call the raven a proper name.

In time, Leandra grew to become one of the outcasts' best hunters and she relished in being able to help those who had welcomed her with open arms. She came to rely a lot on her own traps since she was not the most skilled with a bow. Still, as one of the most accomplished hunters, Leandra was tasked with teaching the youngsters how to properly hunt. While she let others teach the children how to handle a bow, Leandra would teach them how to create traps and how to take down a beast up close with daggers.

For centuries, Leandra was content to train and help others learn more. Over time, Denali naturally passed away, but Leandra understood that it was the way of life and was happy to have given the raven a wondrous life. She mourned as any would with the loss of life, but she also cherished what had been. She created a small memorial for Denali outside of her home and continued to care for any injured animals she may find.

When Leandra was finally of adult Elven age, tragedy struck. She led a small group of three children out to show them some hunting and trapping techniques. Unbeknownst to her, they had wandered into a newly established territory for an owlbear. Setting up a trap nearby, Leandra was showing the children a step-by-step until suddenly screeching sounded behind them. She whipped around in time to be backhanded by one of the owlbear's paws. She landed a few meters away and was slow to recover from the blow. By the time she was on her feet again, the owlbear had torn into one of the children and the other two were screaming and running blindly into the forest. Enraged, Leandra tried in vain to slay the owlbear, defending the child bleeding out nearby, but it was ultimately just that: in vain. By the time the fight was over, Leandra's own back had been torn asunder from the owlbear and she lay beside the child's now still body. Leandra had slain the owlbear, but it had not saved the child.

In time, the other two children had returned to the village and outcasts came to Leandra's aid. Her injuries were grievous and it took her a good year just for the deep lacerations in her back to fully heal. Pain continued to wrack her body for years to come and Leandra was never the same because of her failure. She stepped down as the master hunter and soon left the village once her injuries had mostly healed, seeking redemption elsewhere and hoping to one day be able to look herself in a mirror and not drown in guilt and regret.
