『 TAGGED 』 all students

Virginia is a historical state as are most of the towns and communities within it, including the small Eastern town of Larson. A town full of hopes and dreams and even crumbling ones, it’s not much different from your own hometown. On this last day of Summer, high school is officially back in session for the teenagers of Larson, VA and there are many mixed emotions depending on who you are.

Are you the head cheerleader who’s been practicing all break or are you the new kid filled with dread? Wherever you land on the food chain, the school’s principal, Ms. Hayworthe, would say all are welcomed and all are celebrated, even if it’s not one hundred percent true. All in all though, Larson High is reasonably welcoming and accommodating, so don’t be too stressed to enter these averagely hallowed halls. Then again, there have been rumors about some new social media account exposing secrets?? Maybe that's just in the next town over!

This school year is whatever you choose to make it students, so go off into that warm breeze and get your asses to the school before you’re late for your first class!

Bex Williams

Rebecca woke up to her alarm ringing and sighed as she rolled over to turn it off. She couldn't believe that summer was now officially over and it was time to get back to school. She lay in bed scrolling on her phone for a few moments as she willed herself to get up and moving. It wasn't that she disliked mornings, rather she was just indifferent to them, would she rather be asleep right now? Absolutely but she didn't mind that she was awake, it was more the school time summer blues this morning keeping her snug in bed resisting getting up.

What finally convinced her to get out of bed was the thought of seeing her friends again as she jumped out of bed and made her way immediately into the shower to freshen herself up, after all she needed to make a good first day back impression and if Elliott also happened to think she looked good, well that was a plus. Once out of the shower and having finished her rendition of Sk8er Boi by Avril Lavigne, Bex brushed her hair and quickly towel dried it before moving onto her skincare routine of various lotions and potions. Mhmmm apricot she studied the tub of apricot scented moisturiser in her hand with a pursed lip before shrugging to herself in the mirror and applying the cream generously on her face. She honestly had no idea what most of the creams she had were for or what they were actually doing for her young teenage skin but they had all been gifts and expensive ones at that, so she assumed they couldn't really be doing any damage to her, well she hoped they weren't anyway.

Back in her room, Bex threw off her towel and moved to her wardrobe as she scanned through her clothes trying to find the right outfit for the day, an outfit that screamed cute but also I didn't try that hard this morning. Ironically, the outfit that was meant to signal she didn't care, took almost 30 minutes to choose and she couldn't help but laugh at the irony of it all. She sat on her bed as she pulled on her white air max before standing up to look at herself in the mirror. She did a small twirl taking in her outfit and smiled before sitting at her dresser and quickly applying some makeup. Just a light covering of foundation along with winged eyeliner, some mascara to make her eyes pop and a bit of chapstick to bring the look together. Looking at herself in the mirror Bex smiled before grabbing her bag of the floor and throwing it over her shoulder as she made her way downstairs.

The house was eerily quiet now that college was back on and Bex found herself actually missing the hustle and bustle that summer tended to bring around the Williams household, now that her siblings were back to early starts and some of them gone back to live on the dorms she was once again left on her own, forgotten under her parents busy work lives. Not that it changed anything... Bex picked up her skateboard beside the door to bring with her as you never know when the need may arise before picking up her car keys from the key bowl and leaving the house, locking the door behind her.

Taking a pit stop at the coffee shop on the corner near her house, Bex finally pulled up to Blake's house about 15 minutes later. She beeped the horn loudly to signal to her friend that she was outside before slipping back into her seat as she tapped on the steering wheel to the beat of Fools Gold - Stone Roses which came on her spotify shuffle.

"Morning" Bex chirped cheerfully as Blake got into the car "Got you your usual" she added motioning towards the drinks in the cupholder between them. "So how are you this fine morning" Bex put her hands back on the steering wheel as she maneuvered back onto the road and towards their school.

Riley Johnson

 • .

Hand clamped over her mouth to stop her panicked breathing from being overheard, Riley stared out at the strange feet now standing in her room from underneath her bed. The front door being kicked in had given her seconds of notice to flee her bed and hide underneath as she lay flat on her stomach, willing herself to wake up ... for this all to be a dream. Was Oli ok? was he even home? The more she tried to calm her beating heart and swirling mind the more questions began to float to the surface and she began to feel overwhelmed in the situation of it all. Why did this have to happen to her? What had she herself ever done to deserve this but no ... she knew herself it was not her fault, her father was the reason this was happening and she was just collateral damage. Riley closed her eyes as she heard the footsteps beginning to retreat from her bedroom, they hadn't thought to look under the bed and now if she was quick enough she could get to the window. Oh how wrong and naive could she be. Just as she began to relax a creak at the top of her bed made her freeze and before she could react a vice like grip had grabbed her ankle and was pulling her screaming and kicking out from under the bed "Time to join your mum kid".......

Riley jumped awake, sweat pouring down her face and chest heaving as she shot into a sitting position. Her eyes wide as she looked around the room before confirming to herself that it was just a dream and for now she was safe. She leaned forward placing her hands on her face as she groaned internally, the anniversary of her mother always brought up feelings like this for Riley and the dreams, or well memories of events that had happened in her family home seemed to come nightly. She was 12 when the events of that dream happened and if Oli hadn't arrived home when he did well ... Riley didn't like to think about that. Once her heart beat had lessened and her breathing became more normal, Riley reached over and grabbed her phone to check the time, 6.30am she bit her lip as she threw back her head in annoyance. She would be getting up for school soon anyway and she knew herself that after a dream like that any attempt of going back to sleep was a futile error. Riley got out of bed and grabbed her box of smokes from her bedside table as she made her way over to the window, opening it quickly before slipping out onto the fire escape to have her smoke in the surprisingly warm morning air, eye closed as she leaned back against her bedroom window and listened to the sound of car horns and traffic lights feeling the mostly otherwise still air.

When she finished her smoke, Riley made her way back into her room closing the window behind her before going in for a shower. She had planned not to shower this morning and sleep until the last second but its funny how life works. Once showered she brushed her hair allowing it to dry naturally, it was times like this that Riley was glad she had straight hair and so minimal effort had to go into it. She tied up her hair in a loose ponytail before sitting down in front of a mirror to apply her makeup, a brief cover of foundation, eyeliner, mascara and lip balm to round it out. She looked at herself in the mirror as she bit her lip before getting up and moving to her wardrobe to pick out her clothes. She decided on her black shorts, black crop top and fishnets but as she looked in the mirror she couldn't help but feel something was missing, something to bring it all together. She bit her lip as she looked between the mirror and her wardrobe before finally settling on the grey plaid shirt hanging closest to her, placing it on she gave herself a small nod in approval before sitting down on her bed to put on her black docs. Once finished getting ready, Riley grabbed her bag and phone and made her way into the kitchen to make a coffee. The house was quiet and it was times like right now she was envious of her brother being finished school, Oli wouldn't be awake now for another 3 hours and all Riley wished to do was go back to the comfort of her bed What do i need school for anyway.. she had spent most of the summer arguing this point with Oli but to no avail and here she was first day of senior year heading to school.

**************************************

Its a wonder Riley made it to school if one is being honest, it was almost like she had been driving on autopilot and she zoned back in as she pulled into the school car park. Her eyes slightly wide as she looked around the carpark, almost as though she was expecting to see a trail of chaos behind her but thankfully herself and the car were in one piece. Riley parked the car and picked her bag up from the passenger side foot hold, placing a cigarette to her lips as she opened her door and got out of the car. Man i do not want to be here

Riley reached into her bag for a lighter and a small smirk played on her lips as her fingers hit off something else. Raising an eyebrow, Riley slowly and secretly lifted the item out of her bag and examined the joint in her fingers , now this ... this was exactly what she needed. Looking around Riley shoved the joint back into her bag before turning on her heels and walking towards the football pitches now instead of the school doors. Who cares if I'm late

"Vasiliy, I appreciate the thought you're putting into this, but do you think a cake is really necessary?"
Vasiliy looked up from the bowl he was so aggressively mixing at his host mother who gave him a disapproving look. It was almost one year since she and her husband took Vasiliy in as an exchange student from Russia. And every day, she thought about how peaceful her life would be without the hyperactive teenager around.
"Hear me out. If you accidentally threw up after kissing a girl, wouldn't you want to apologize somehow? I dunno how to say 'sorry I threw up on you' out of nowhere, so.... cake."
He half-mumbled in return. Less than a week ago, his classmates held a party which he had to sneak out of his window to get to. His cover was very quickly blown once he returned, as he got black out, no-brain-cells-left drunk. So drunk, that during a game of spin the bottle, he kissed Calli on the lips and felt so nauseous after he ran out of the room to throw up. It didn't help that this was his first kiss either.

Within the next hour, and with the help of a frustrated host mother, an ugly cake was finished. The cake was mustard yellow, with "sorry I threw up after kissing you(((" Written on the top in red frosting. Some spaceship sprinkles were added to try to counteract the garish ugliness of the rest of the cake. But that only added to the travesty.
"I think it's fine. Calli would love this. I heard girls love cakes!"
He said proudly. He didn't care that the second layer of the cake was starting to lean a little towards the right. It served its purpose well. his host mother shook her head silently, glad to be of help but worried about what the results of this apology gift would be. He, instead, guessed that this would probably get his apology accepted faster than just simply talking to her anyways. Plus who talks to girls... willingly? That's awful. And terrifying. So, so terrifying. School started the next morning, so Vasiliy put the cake in the fridge, and went back to his room to prepare for the next day. High school was really not something he enjoyed. He could get plenty educated by going hunting, or dirt biking, or exploring old buildings. Or at least he could, back in his hometown. He reminisced on his childhood in Tuva while brushing his teeth. As much as the thought of taking biology class sickened him, he determined it was far better than living with his father in Kyzyl.

Vasiliy sat with the ugly yellow cake in his lap the entire bus ride. He got some strange stares once passersby realized what was written on the top. But he ignored it. There were more things to think about. Like what the closest burger king within walking distance was. He sighed, tugging at his hood. He forgot how dreary the ride was. And hot. And crowded. He hates crowds. Oh hey, he was already there. That's convenient. He pulled his worn out backpack on, and carefully picked up the cake. The new freshmen for the year hesitantly walked off the bus, unsure of what horrors they'd experience on their first day back. He was a sophomore. He knew everything about high school and wasn't going to be scared. As he walked towards the entrance, he scanned the crowds of people for Calli. He spoke far too soon, as he found something to be very scared. He found Calli alright, but with another guy. Carter he thought his name was? It didn't matter, he wasn't going to talk to him anyway, and giving someone an apology cake was totally normal anyways.
"HEY! CALLI! I GOT YOU SOMETHING"
He waved at her and shouted, running up to her.
"I felt bad about the party last week. So I made you a cake to apologize. Do you like it?"

Veronica sighed softly to herself as she turned over and finally woke up from her slumber. A slight groan also followed as the sun's rays shone directly in her window, making her hand raise up to block it out as best as she could. After her legs swung over the bed and her feet landed on the floor, Veronica slipped on a pair of fuzzy slippers and started a trek toward her bathroom, where she did her morning routine.

It was nothing more than taking a bath in a jasmine scent that she loved, brushing her teeth, and straightening her hair. From there, she emerged from the bathroom to waltz over to her closet, a finger tapped her cheek as she pondered to herself what to wear. Her hands reached out to grab a few ideas and pressed them against her body while she examined her choices in the floor-length mirror before her. Nothing seemed to be working for her on the first day back to school because Veronica made a screwed-up face at everything.

She knew that she needed to wear something though.

After eventually making a decision, she got dressed, and placed on some jewelry but wasn't really satisfied with her decision. Nevertheless, she was dressed and ready to make an impact on the day. Veronica walked over to retrieve her phone and sent a text to her fellow golden girl, Artem.

GG Artem ✨💖
Hey, girlie! OMW to come and get you. Be ready! 💕

She tapped the side of her phone, lips scrunched upward to the side to see if she needed to text anyone else. Shrugging her shoulders, she grabbed her purse and exited her room, eyes peeked inside Tristan's room to see that he was already gone, which didn't really bother her honestly. Veronica didn't want to offer him a ride to school anyway. As she descended the stairs, her ears twitched as she heard her parents arguing, which made her eyes roll upward. Without even saying anything, she retrieved her keys from the key hanger beside the front door and quietly exited the house.

“Off to school.” She muttered softly to herself, exhaling a sigh over her parted lips as she unlocked her vehicle with a simple click of a button and slipped into the driver's seat. Soon enough, she backed out of their driveway and was on the way to Artem's house and hoped that she was ready so they could stop by Starbucks to get their morning pick-me-ups.

Eventually, she was in front of Artem's home and honked the horn that blared throughout the neighborhood. Veronica didn't care if it was loud or not but she did it anyway. She pulled out her phone and scrolled through it, constantly checking to see if Artem made an appearance or not.

Tristan had entered the Edwards residence after his morning jog and walked into the bathroom downstairs. It was beneficial that he didn't have to ascend the stairs to his other bathroom or wake anyone up. Although he did need to grab a few essential items from up there, which can wait because he had his cell phone along with another toothbrush that he stashed underneath the sink. There had been a few late nights lately, so he had to do what he needed to do in order to not get caught by his parents. Surprisingly, Veronica has never gotten caught even though she just had to bat her eyelashes to get out of trouble. It was different with him since he was older and had to set an example.

Something that always made him feel as if he was the parent. At least he knew what to expect whenever he had kids.

After thinking those thoughts, which he immediately shrugged off, his hand wrapped around the nozzle to start the shower. Letting the water warm up before slipping inside and lathering his body with his axe body wash. Once he was satisfied, Tristan emerged from the steam-filled shower and went over to the mirror, wiping it clean from the foggy moisture that had built up there to reveal his reflection. His hand reaches to retrieve his phone from the bathroom and started to stream music. The first song that played was Industry Baby by Lil Nas X ft. Jack Harlow, which he rapped while also brushing his teeth and doing hand gestures in the mirror to the rhythm of the current song.

Tristan's morning routine wasn't anything extensive but once he was done downstairs, he walked up the stairs to his room and rummaged through his dresser drawers to pick out his outfit for the day. It was a casual wear day for him but he was more than pleased with his clothing choice. His ears twitched as he heard some stirring happening right outside of his door. From the pattern of the footprints, it was his mother and his father wasn't too far behind her.

His hand tied the final shoelace then jumped up from his bed, clapping his hands together and letting out an exhale. Tristan exited his room and descended the stairs, into the kitchen where his parents were and it seemed as if they were about to start their annual morning argument. So, in order to avoid them, his head quickly peeked into the kitchen to offer them a good morning along with a wave before informing them that he was about to go ahead to school. Tristan didn't bother to wake up Veronica as she was her own person, so he got inside his vehicle and jetted off to school.

Quickly, he found a parking spot and was immediately met with glares from some of his recent conquests. A bright smile slowly formed between his lips as one of his eyes winked. It wasn't until he reached the front of the school that a familiar voice rang out in his ears, eyes caught sight of Vasiliy with a cake and running up to Calli. His hand reached up to rub down his face as he kind of had no choice but to go over there and see what trouble Vasiliy was causing because it had to be him.

“Whoa, what's going on here?” His arm wrapped around Vasiliy's shoulders, eyes went to Calli before he spoke again. “Is this little knucklehead bothering you?” His arm reached up to ruffle Vasiliy's brunette locks of hair and rested upon his shoulder afterward. “Ooh, cake.” With his free hand, he took his index finger to swipe some of the yellow icing and placed the finger in his mouth, making a delighted expression from the taste. “What are you doing, Vasiliy?” Tristan basically groaned out because he knew that he was apologizing for something.

That poor boy. Too kind for his own good.

In Clarke’s mind, her first day of senior year was to be the perfect start of her last year of high school. Sure, she knew she’d easily be getting a soccer scholarship to college, but even that would be different than high school. She wanted to take it all in, wanted to savor all of her last firsts even if they were silly. Today, for example, was her last first day.

The brunette had laid out her outfit the night before and was now working on straightening her long hair until it reached the middle of her back. She braided a few pieces in the front to frame her face before deciding all she really needed for makeup was some mascara and some concealer. Clarke always tried to look her best, after all, you never know who is watching you. That’s what her dad always said anyway.

As per usual, her dad wasn’t around to send her off or wish her well, however there was a note on the fridge which was out of the ordinary.

Good luck on your last first day, kid. Knock ‘em dead and kick ass at soccer tryouts!

Though it was short, it was still a sweet notion, one that she hadn’t gotten from him since she was a kid. With a small smile, the girl took the note from the fridge and folded it up, going back to her room to place it on her dresser.

Heading back to the kitchen, the girl pulled out some strawberries and began to slice them before dropping them in a baggie, cutting up some more and placing them in another. She always seemed to be getting food for Flynn too, but she had to make sure he was getting some sort of healthiness throughout the day. Maybe she was giving herself away as having a crush on him, but she hoped it was still a secret. First and foremost they were best friends, and even if that was how it stayed, Clarke was just happy to have him in her life at all.

As if on cue, a honking horn was heard from outside and the girl hurried to grab her things, shoving her phone in her back pocket before running out the door, only to turn around and lock it quickly. With a smile, she waved to the boy who, without fail, would always pick her up and drop her off since she didn’t have a car. Clarke tossed her things in the backseat before getting into the passenger side and shutting the door, turning to Flynn and holding up his bag of strawberries, “For you.” She grinned playfully, setting them in the center cup holder. “Are you excited for our last first day?”

― "flaws, stitched together with good intentions"

It was going to be a good day.

Summer had been long - fun, some days, but it always seemed to stay far past its welcome. The heat, the lack of routine, the long days at home with nothing to do. It was chill for, like, a month or so, but after that it bordered on dreary.

Today, though. Today would be good. Summer was over and school was back in session. Admittedly, most classes also bordered on dreary, but at least there was constantly stuff going and on her friends were around.

Plus, it gave her an excuse to see Carter every day.

Including today.

Today, he was taking her to school. She'd gotten out of bed early, nervous excitement having rendered her night largely sleepless to begin with, in order to get ready. She knew he still liked her without all the frills, but it didn't hurt to be add them anyways. Braids, eyeliner, a choker, fishnets. It'd be a lie to say she was dressing up to impress anyone other than him - people didn't really tend to notice her. Other than him, for some reason.

Whatever had sparked and maintained Carter's interest in her, she was thankful for it.

The drive to school had been sweet, full of laughter and light touch and conversation. The arrival was shaping up the same way, Carter's arm draped around her shoulder as they made their way to the entrance of school. The pair came to a stop to the side of the main doors, having maneuvered their way through the early morning crowd of terrified freshmen and tryhard seniors. Calliope was thankful for the height boost provided to her by her boots, lessening the difference between her and Carter as she leaned her head on his shoulder - well, upper bicep, really - as they waited for the warning bell.

She watched, any chatter coming from Carter fading into the background as she observed the setting and its inhabitants. The ones awkwardly closing the door of their parent's car behind them, the cliques that formed so naturally, the buses rolling in and the students pouring out of them.

Contentment filled her, feeling at home among the hustle and bustle of scho-

"HEY! CALLI! I GOT YOU SOMETHING"

The sound of her name accompanied by the promise of a gift caught her attention, the frantic nature of the caller's voice grounding her. Straightening up, she wrapped a hand around Carter's forearm as a smile formed on her face as she realized who had called out for her.
"Hey Vas! What's up?"
Her voice, though airy, matched his apparent enthusiasm.

The party. Crap, she'd forgotten to tell Carter about that night's events. He probably would've found it hilarious. Had he heard about it from someone? Twitter, maybe?

Before she could respond, or even read the cake, Tristan appeared out of thin air. She shook her head before answering his question.
"'Course not! He's just apologizing for nothing."
Her smile remained, her expression vibrant before softening slightly as she redirected her attention to Vasiliy.

"Really, Vasiliy, it's, like, totally cool."

"HEY! THAT'S FOR CALLI! DON'T TOUCH THAT."
Vasiliy screamed at Tristan. All he was doing was making sure that Calli got her apology cake! This was important.
"AND I'M NOT LITTLE!"

He retorted, shoving Tristan away from him, getting yellow icing on the other boy's jacket. It was hard to avoid letting his temper get a hold of him. Vasiliy's insecurity about his height was not at all hidden. He was only 5'8, after all. Perhaps that just meant his anger was more compressed in a small body. The cake was still intact, besides the few patches of missing icing. And it was as hideous as ever.
"It's not cool Calli! This dickhead tried to eat your cake. I was TRYING to say I'm sorry I kissed you in spin the bottle at the party last week and got so scared I threw up after."
Vasiliy pleaded, glaring at Tristan. He held out the sad cake for Calli to accept. He had put hours of effort into making this after all.

While scanning his surroundings, mostly making sure that Tristan wouldn't so brutally assault his cake and mess with his unkempt hair, he noticed the boy standing next to Calli, understandibly looking unhappy. Vasiliy's screeching voice softened to say a softer greeting.
"Hey Carter. Uh, you can have some cake too if you want. It's for Calli. Sorry about that."

CALL IT BLACKSTAR,
CALL IT PAINSTAR.

Carter knew they looked like the gross, affectionate couple in the hallways but he couldn't stop staring at his girlfriend. Calliope and him were doing great, so great she even wanted to spend the night with him and he could not wait. That meant something was about to happen and then he could finally tell everybody what he had been doing for real this time.

'So, me and Lauren started this new campaign and it's turning out great,' Carter rambled on a bit while he held Calli close to him, holding her waist and sometimes even a little lower than her waist. All her accessories and make-up weren't even noticed by the young man, all he cared about was her pulse and that pretty face.
Just as he was about to explain the second chapter to her they got interrupted by Vasiliy and Tristan.

A cake? Seriously? His facial expressions could tell his response for him, Carter couldn't give the two men one smile. They didn't even look at him until Vas offered him a piece of cake. 'A piece of cake?' He repeated Vas mocking, 'I don't know if you noticed but we were kind of busy,' Carter added, taking a look at the cake. Sorry, I vomited after we kissed? Carter gave Calli a side eye, he trusted his girlfriend but also not really. Even though he came across as pretty confident, deep down he was still a little insecure he caught this catch at all.
'Besides, I doubt she would kiss you.' Carter snarked, his mask of cool had slipped. 'Also, you got some icing,' Carter noticed, pointing at Tristan before he turned around to rumble in his pockets and finding his weed. Maybe he just wanted an excuse to see this whole thing play out and that Calli would after tell him he was the best and funniest boyfriend around.
