RULES (Posting because Squid is lazy : P)

When starting, you have a cap of one student character max - this is just to ensure that if you have to leave, you're not too deeply entrenched in the RP. After a week of RPing, however, we're willing to raise that cap to three. (And after a lot of mod-team deliberation, we're raising it to four after the first big event!)

Writing: All posts in the IC thread should include the name of the character at least once, how you do it doesn't matter. Tag anyone you're RPing with. Keep this PG-13, always make sure to FTB if necessary.

Most people say otherwise, but length matters! We don't want to restrain fun, but please try to refrain from one-liners!

No godmodding

General courtesy: No trolling, racism, sexism, other inflammatory behavior

Feel free to ask the mods about anything else, like running an event, or making a teacher!

Code word (or phrase): "Cosmic Love Katana"

Lakoria Teachers:

Mr. Boris Plum - Home Economics Teacher
Appearance:

YARNBOI.gif
(Image provided by Magical Squid Senpai Magical Squid Senpai )
Personality: Despite bearing the name of a fruit, Mr. Plum is definitely the sweet pea of Lakoria’s teaching staff. He’s soft-spoken, kind, and gentle in his actions – quite fitting for the leader of house Haven, after all. While not quite outgoing, he has tons of empathy in him, allowing him to understand his students’ troubles, both in the classroom and in his House. From time to time, he shows a little bit of nervousness around others, but always toughens up in the end, especially to be an inspiration and role model for the students of House Haven. Ultimately, he just wants everyone around him to get along and be friends, something which his caring personality lends itself to often. Magical Squid Senpai Magical Squid Senpai

Mr. Freddo - English Teacher
Appearance:

frogger.png
(Image provided by metalcity metalcity )
Personality: "Strict and grumpy, likes to be in control of the situation and have everyone look up to him. Believes he is the best thing at this school. Tries to spread the message of his ideology. Despite teaching English, speaks exclusively French.” Written by metalcity metalcity

Dr. Frank N. Schmetterling - Science Teacher
Appearance:
In most cases, Dr. Schmetterling appears human, and even as a science teacher should – his posture is always straight, his attire is always professional, and his expression is always boring, dead-eyed and tight-lipped. This, of course, all changes when he goes crazy. In fits of rage, moth wings erupt from his back, often ruining any suit he wears that day. Well-coiffed hair becomes wild and frizzled, and his normal faces twists into something of a permanent snarl, complete with wild eyes and the occasional line of drool hanging from his mouth. Real professional, Schmetterling.
Personality: Dr. Schmetterling has two sides – a calm, gruff, and rational front, and another wild, insane, and possible feral personality hidden underneath. There really is no in-between for Schmetterling – he’s either a boring teacher or batshit insane. If the word “party” is mentioned too many times in one setting, if people assume his last name is “Stein”, if his students are being extra unruly, or even on the lightest whim – he unleashes his moth wings and goes feral towards those around him. Such a temperament is why he was put in charge of house Journey – nothing gets a party started quite like a screeching mothman wildly downing shots and throwing glasses while suspended from the ceiling.

His "normal" side, however, is a bit more complicated. Based in a messy divorce and years upon years of unruly students, a jaded, unhopeful, grumbly Schmetterling drowns each and every one of his sorrows in black coffee, vodka, and any other assorted alcohol or "memory-cleaning" drink he can find. He'll often grumble about his wife, comment on how the world is shit, or haze the new teachers by estimating how many days they have until they crack. Extra classy, Schmetterling. Lotusy Lotusy

Ms. Littell - History Teacher
Appearance:

Littell.jpg
(Image provided by Loony_Bin Loony_Bin )
Backstory: "Ms. Littell is-er...was the substitute teacher for House Logica, however upon finding out that the former teacher Mr. Lacy the Werewolf was hunted down and killed by a mob while on vacation in Transylvania, Ms. Littell was slotted in as the permanent head teacher as it was easier to do that rather than find someone new. Formerly a Lakoria flunk out due to her poor grades in anything regarding magic, Ms. Littell was forced to continue her studies in Princeton where she got her masters before almost immediately being contacted to replace Mr. Lacy for a time. Now in a position where she can no longer afford to simply put on My Big Fat Greek Wedding for the entire period and coast by, Ms. Littell is desperately attempting to re brand herself as the 'cool teacher' while not only not being cool at all, but also being in over her head completely and having a bit of a temper to boot; however despite that there's no way she's willing to let this job slip away, after all in today's job market having a solid gig is hard enough as it is." Written By Loony_Bin Loony_Bin

Professor Muriel Clover - Magic (Spells/Potions) Teacher
Appearance:
As a half-troll, half human, Professor Clover's most striking feature is her pair of tusks, two brightly polished teeth that stand out against her otherwise normal face. Tusks aside, Professor Clover's body is essentially that of a human in her late thirties, still standing proud, though with a slight hunch forward in her neck due to said tusks. Her troll lineage also grants her an overall gray complexion, mostly in her hair and skin, and slight bristles on her cheeks and arms. She has a kind, if somewhat goofy face given her tusks, which is creased from years of smiling and often adorned with her signature glasses – large, brown-rimmed lenses which often sit awkwardly atop her tusks.
Personality: Professor Clover is the nerd to end all nerds. She's endlessly passionate about magic and even more devout to the cause of spreading its wonders to a young mind. She can be found geeking out in the middle of class, ranting about some type of potion, spell, or magical creature - really, anything strange and mystical in nature excites her to no end. Her teaching philosophy is simple: from teacher's pets to school dropouts, eager minds or shy listeners, she approaches each student with the same fervor and desire to teach. In her spare time, she can still be found geeking out, testing out new spells, experimenting with new potion ingredients, or even giving out random lessons to anyone who will listen. Lotusy Lotusy

Ms. Ursula Rosenthal - Coach
Appearance:

Rosenthal.jpg
(Image provided by Magical Squid Senpai Magical Squid Senpai )
Personality: Coach Rosenthal prefers to do things at her own speed, especially once it comes to her gym class. While she can be nonchalant and uncaring with the students at times, she’s considered the harder of the two coaches for a reason. If the situation calls for it, she can be hard on students in her gym class, demanding and rude as she pushes them to work harder and hit their athletic goals. She runs a tight ship for her gym classes, a one-woman team with a “my way or the highway” attitude and the ability to back it up. While she can give fun workouts and activities, pray for the students that try and disobey or skirt gym. She won’t tolerate disobedience, laziness, or edgy teenage refusal - not in her house. Magical Squid Senpai Magical Squid Senpai

Mr. Arktos Coroebus - Coach
Appearance:
Coach Coro is a large, bearish man, in more ways than one. Vaguely humanoid, he hulks above just about everyone at a staggering 7'6", and sports and equally wide frame. Most of his mass is muscle - huge, rippling muscle, tinted a dark brown thanks to his Greek skin. On a second inspection, however, something seems a bit... off about Coach Coro, besides the mountains of muscle. If students squint, they can catch a hint of something distinctly furry about him, although nobody can tell exactly what it is.
Personality: As intimidating as he is, Coach Coro is much more than just a mean-spirited muscle mass. Buried under his grumbling voice and heaps of muscle is a soft head, housing just about as much kindness as there is strength in his body. Of the two coaches, he's definitely the pushover, allowing most students to avoid work or even leave if they so choose. As a helper for house Haven, he loves group hugs and other acts of kindness, though his size certainly limits his ability to give or receive them. Beware especially if he offers his infamous "bear hugs" - students never leave quite the same after it. Lotusy Lotusy

The Headmaster
Appearance:
Headmaster.jpg

Personality: "The headmaster is very mysterious and mostly keeps to herself. She will however do anything to help her students and make sure they have everything they need." Written by Magical Squid Senpai Magical Squid Senpai

Jay Delon - Nurse
Appearance:

Jay.jpg

Personality: As one of Lakoria's recent alumni, Nurse Jay has become infinitely more jaded and worn-out since he graduated and took on the position of the school's nurse two months ago. It's a tough job to take, really. Given the violent nature of the students, magical sports gone wrong, or even the "accidents" around school, there's often more than he's wiling to handle at once - but hey, he's gotta earn his paycheck somehow. He's seen enough bloody fights, fixed enough broken brooms and bones, and heard enough awful excuses to write a book about, so he just approaches each new life-threatening injury or campus emergency with the same lack of enthusiasm as a cubicle-trapped office worker. His one weakness is candy - he has an awful sweet-tooth, and likes to accrue as much candy as humanly possible.
Power: Jay's power turns the human body's energy into healing power to quickly close wounds or power past certain illnesses. Being the slacker he is, however, Jay draws the energy from the patient instead of himself - otherwise, he'd most likely be dead by now. It doesn't matter where the energy comes from, though, so Jay usually makes his patients eat sweets for that short sugar rush before he gets to work. A normal trip to the nurse's office involves bringing a lot of candy - half for yourself, and half as an offering for Jay. Lotusy Lotusy

Lotusy and Loony's Little Lore Bits! (Updated regularly, check back for updates!)

-Lakoria's schedule is blocked, meaning half of its classes are held one day, and the others are held the next day, alternating. The schedule goes as follows:
"A" day: History - English - Magic - Gym w/ Rosenthal
"B" day: Home EC - Science - Clubs - Gym w/ Coro

-Clubs are totally student led, so feel free to have one of your characters create one in-RP, as long as it doesn't conflict with others!
Current club list:
(Open)

*A club fair will be held on the third day of Lakoria for recruitment and setting up clubs in-character.

-All dorm halls are arranged with one common area and two wings, sorted by gender. Entry into a house's dorm is strictly prohibited unless a student bears that house's pass - thus, Logicas can only enter the Logica house, Havens to Haven, etc, unless they are given a pass by a student from that house.

-Dorm rooms can be customizable! All students are initially assigned to the "default suite", which they share with their roommate, but if plain-jane housing isn't up to their speed, custom rooms are available! Either by simply redecorating or through magic, your student can make a room that really fits them. Perhaps you want a room with the illusion of open field that reminds you of home, a room full of water, or even a constantly-dark alcove to sit and brood in, and that's all good! Make sure your student makes a visit to their House's head (Little, Plum, or Schmetterling), who will then make accommodations for them and their new room.

-Lakoria has a small satellite town named Lakota (bonus points if you catch the reference) which is just like the school - isolated from the human world. It's a place for current students to visit, get part-time jobs, or start their own homes and businesses when they graduate if they so choose. It's also a nice place to just kick back and relax when schoolwork gets to be too much.

-For all non-human students wishing to leave the Lakoria campus, visit the Lakoria makeup crew! With the use of makeup (and a little bit of magic), the makeup crew can create a convincing human disguise for even the most bizarre creatures. After just one visit, the student's human appearance will be stored in a stone, to be used at their own discretion.

-School-sanctioned fight classes or even on-the-spot fights are a thing! For some, it's a way to release aggression, or even to help satiate the need for an adrenaline rush in more active species, or species that rely on violence to survive. Official fight classes are also like self-defense classes for the real world, preparing Lakoria's students for the harsh world outside.

-Lakoria's film club is producing a TV show called "Lakory in the House".

school 2 new before numbers.png
Basic classrooms/ auditorium/ lunchroom:
Big auditorium on the first floor. This is also where the drama club meets up in. Basic classrooms are on the second floor. Lunchroom on the first floor behind the auditorium.
1. Chemistry and magics/potions/home ec building: Chemistry in the basement. It reminds most people of a medieval dungeon. Home EC on the first floor, Sadly sandwiched between the two most dangerous classes, the home economics room is bright and cheerful unlike the other rooms in the building. Potions on the second floor. Also dark and dank looking.
2. Club building : Through the use of a magic door, this small building is able to house every single club at once. Is decorated however the students want it to look.
3. The Arts building: A beautiful building filled with new, clean and shiny instruments. No longer will students have to use instruments that the seniors have passed down from many years ago.
Courtyard: A place for students to hang out and chat. It has concrete tables and benches to sit at while you eat lunch and chat with your friends. It also includes our beautiful fountain on display in the middle of the courtyard that you should definitely not swim in.
Library: What is there to really explain about a library? Well, it very huge. Filled with all the books you could ever imagine.
Gym: A place where children can FIGHT TO THE DEATH. I mean...it is just the place where gym class is held. The field shifts to fit whatever event we need.
5. School store: Did your friend eat your pencil? Do you need a candle that smells like home? Need a school blanket? Yeah, you do! Come down to the school store and buy more cool things to use in your dorm room.
Teachers building: A building where the teachers sleep and complain about their worst student.
Safehouse: Feeling homesick? Miss your usual environment? Well, then this is the place for you! Using those wonderful magical doors again, you can wish to go back to that swamp you lived in and roll around in the mud once again for as long as you like! Actually, scratch that, you can stay in there after your classes and after you have finished any assignments.
House homes/bathhouse: Three large buildings where the students will sleep, bathe, and just hang out. The first floors belong to the activity room. It has a flat screen tv, pool table, and ping pong table. It's just a place to chill. It has a large fireplace in it for you to cuddle up with your friends during the winter. The second floor is where the students will sleep. Each student can decorate to their heart's content. All of the rooms have their own small bathrooms with a toilet, sink, and mirror. The third floor is a place where everyone will take baths and shower. Obviously, there will be a girls bath and boys bath. We also heavily urge that you use this room at least three times a week.
