King Damien paced to and fro around in his throne room, his eyes glistening with slight fear and his face frowning with worry. His hands were firmly clamped together behind his back, squeezing tighter the more he grew anxious. He received a note, not that long ago, etched in inky black handwriting and enveloped in the smell of must and death itself; a smell he knew too well. "The clock's ticking... And in honor of that, I will personally take off the first couple of fresh bait that spawn on Monday morning in the Promis Woods. They'll be out of your hands for good, since you have so much on your plate already. You'll thank me later." Damien felt as if he could hear a cackling laugh from the corner of his ear, menacingly plotting and mocking him.

It wasn't him cowering in fear in the name of that bastard, it was him cowering in fear for the lives of those innocent souls, about to be corrupted by that ugly son of a bi-. Damien's thoughts were interupted by a soldier walking into the throne room, his face just as worried as the King's.
"The Captain would like to know the plan, your highness.." King Damien looked at him with a frown, his pacing coming to a halt. He walked over to the large window that over looked all of Euphoria and the outcasting lands. He huffed, resting his hand on its window sill, looking down from everything.

He had to let them loose. He had to fight them for their own sake, for once someone met HIM, they become succumbed into this "bond" that he played on them. Its was all part of his tricks to regain the Magic Realm. Damien slowly turned his head to the soldier and nodded.
"Make sure they return here ALIVE. If one of their souls escapes their bodies, may the gods help you.." The soldier cowered in fear as he ran away, the orders sinking well into his brain. Damien looked back out towards the window, his hands never returning from behind him. "I can fix this... I promise.." He mumbled.

He caught the ball, and sped forward. The wind pressed against his face, as he ran. Someone was coming from his right. He could see them out of his peripheral. He planted his feet, and watched them run past him, and fall to the ground. Stopping let the other players catch up. Soe span out of the way as someone tried to truck him. The in zone was only a few yards away now. He couldn't out run them now though. Another player came from his left, and caught a stiff arm, as Soe switched directions twice to juke another player in front of him. Once the last one was down, He launched himself forward at full speed, front flipping into the in zone, and throwing down the football.

Soe flexed his biceps, and let out his mighty roar, that traveled across the whole grassy field. Some kids and parents who were playing, not too far away, stared at him. Once he was done, he chuckled and waved at some of the startled onlookers. He put his hands in the pockets of his shorts, and walked over to the rest of his friends who were dusting themselves off, and laughing. "Good game." He told them as he shook their hands, and patted them on the back.

"Aye, Soe what're you doing after this?" One of his friends asked, as Soe walked over to pick up his bag.

"I dunno, probably gonna visit the fam." He said as he unzipped the bag, and pulled out the ring. The gem was bright orange, and puffing out orange dust. He squeezed the ring in his hand, hiding it from the rest of his friends.

"Wanna get some drinks with us, tonight?"

"Uh yeah, sure why not." Soe looked over at them and smiled.

"Alright, cool, usual place. See ya, Soe." They waved, walked off, and Soe rushed to his car. He looked at his ring. It was still orange.

"What is your problem, lately?" He asked. As of late the ring had been changing colors, and puffing that dust all the time. It usually only did that every couple of months or so, but recently, it was doing it at least once every day. "Not feeling very talkative today?" Another issue was it's silence. The ring could talk, not physically, but only to Soe, in his head. It no longer spoke. It started just two weeks ago, when the color thing started too. It just stopped talking. The ring usually had one or two smart remarks about Soe's day to day activities, but it that was no longer happening. He sighed. "What the hell is going on with you?" He put the ring on and started the car.

"Soon." The ring spoke to Soe. He looked down at it, and tapped the gem.

"Soon what, jackass?" He asked. It didn't respond. "Hey, answer me." He stared at it for a few seconds longer, and the visions started, but it wasn't of stars an galaxies anymore. It was just of fog. Deep Light grey fog, and trees. Trees everywhere. He blinked and the vision stopped, his head aching. "What was that? Why was it different?" He asked holding his head. The ring was silent still. "Huh..."

Skyler Mitchell

scared to get close

hate being alone

long for that feeling

It was the best time of the day. That is, the time where she got to slack off work and take a break. The bar was pretty slow during the day, so it hadn't been too bad. It was only when night came that she really had to work hard. Still, Skyler loved when she could knock off and get some lunch. Her favorite sub place was only a block away, so she could head over and grab a sandwich. It had become sort of a thing, and everyone else knew about it too. If anyone wanted Skyler during her lunch break, they were shit outta luck.

"I'm off," she yelled, heading for the door. The manager, currently doing paperwork at one of the empty booths, grunted and nodded. So long as Sky was back in half an hour, the manager didn't really care where she went. It was one of the perks of working at this place. The waitress grinned and waved goodbye as Skyler slipped out the door. It was a pretty nice day, all things considered. Definitely nice enough for the jeans and t-shirt she always wore to work. Dress code for bartenders wasn't exactly strict, given the kind of place she worked. Still, she got good tips from the men drunk off their ass, and some of the women as well. Not to mention the occasional number. It wasn't bad, all in all, and she liked it there. Things were never boring, at least.

As she headed down the street, a hand wandered to the necklace hidden under her shirt. During work, she typically kept it there, since people tended to ask about it. Skyler wasn't all that into having to explain the same damn thing over and over again, even if she never went into any sort of detail. And after being told it was a keepsake from her parents, everyone would always want to know more. It sort of pissed her off, and she was never quiet about telling them, and it wasn't exactly a great idea for a bartender to yell at the patrons. So, necklace hidden, problem solved, and she could do her job. Still, when she was walking, and she felt it bump against her chest, she had the habit of reaching up to make sure it was still okay. Sky had some complicated feelings towards her parents, but she wasn't about to let the one thing they left her go to waste.

What the hell? Something about the necklace felt different. Her steps slowing, Skyler pulled it out from under her shirt, and frowned. The little cone-shaped thing had popped open. Grinding her teeth, Skyler tried to re-clasp it. Even back when she'd first discovered the damn thing, she had never opened it. Maybe it was a dumb superstition, but she felt like there was something of her parents left in there, and if she opened it, whatever it was would just disappear. The idea was making her hands shake, which only made closing it harder.

Suddenly aware that she was just standing in the middle of the sidewalk, Skyler glanced up. Instead of the typical city, however, all she could see was... fog. That was weird. Did it usually roll in this quick? And she hadn't noticed it before... Distracted, Skyler relaxed her hand, but it didn't fall from the necklace. Instead, it stayed, as if stuck there. Sky looked down at it, eyes widening. It was like the charm was absorbing her hand right in front of her own eyes. Before she even had a chance to yell or pull back, the cone seemed to open wider than physically possible, and Skyler was falling inside of it. Everything around her was grey and empty and she was falling into nothingness and it would never end and-

It ended with a hard thump as she slammed to the ground. Groaning, Skyler brought her hands down to push herself up. Instead of concrete, she felt dirt and underbrush. Jerking upwards suddenly, Skyler looked around. She was in a forest.

"What the hell?"

to not feel at all

the higher I get

the lower I'll sink

can't drown my demons, they know how to swim

....The gun. That's what i am waiting for. Mel rocked back and forth on her feet in a crouched position. Her breaths came out evenly paced, as she looked over her competitors. A small grin appeared across her face. ..pitiful.... she thought. She looked down at her black jogging shorts, and black tennis shoes. Her simple concealing yellow tanktop clung to her in the heat. She kept her grin, and focused on breathing. This day could get any more adventurous could it?

POP! the gun rang in her ears as she took off. Her feet barely touching the ground as she so quickly became a blur. She kept her pace within a certain range, to conserve extra burst of energy. Her smirk grew as she heard the loud thunderous steps of her competitors. Her footsteps light and airy, as they carried her across the track. 'One Hundred and fifty, A hundred..' she counted off in her head, the next thing she knows, she is rolling across the finish line. first place.....what a surprise. Her breathing was barely hitched, yet everyone else came running in breathing as if they where dying. She smiled, holding back a laugh. She took her water bottle and towel, as she headed back for the changing building.

She jogged to the woman's side of the building. She slipped in and grabbed her bag, quickly jumping into one of the available showers. She hummed as she stepped back out five mintues later. The rest of the girls still had not appeared. She quickly changed into a flowing grey top and black jeans. The weather was dreadfully hot outside. She threw all her clothes into the bag as well as the towel. She drank her whole bottle of water, and threw it in the sink. Quickly, she slipped out the bathroom...just as the others arrived.

A hour later she was home and sitting on the couch, staring blankly at the golden coin in her hand, it seemed to glow as it had all week, but she played it of as lighting. Suddenly, it grew painfully hot in her palm and she dropped it to the floor, grabbing her wrist and screaming in pain where it burned her flesh a little. The coin pulsed with a yellow glow, but she ignored it. She stared at her hand, semi-clutching it in pain. Next thing she knew, her living room was covered in fog, and everything was cold. Her coin was no where on the ground, so she looked around for it. She realized she was in a forest and her eyes went wide. Her face curved into a smirk, as always. "really. Did someone slip something into my water again?"

(BTW her coin is in her pocket now. )

It was his day off, one of the few days off he actually got. Most of the time, it was spent working on various papers. The days he wasn't stuck under a pile of paperwork were getting fewer and fewer. He stretched as he put on some comfortable clothing. He needed to clean the house before he did any actual relaxing. It was stupid, but he wouldn't be able to relax unless he cleaned up first.

"Averi reporting for duty" he said grinning as he unraveled the ribbon from around his arm and tied up his hair. His hair wasn't super long so he could only tie it up into a small ponytail, but it kept it out of his face. His fingers lingered on the ribbon as he finished tying it, remembering his mother before he shook his head and began to clean.

First he started with downstairs in the kitchen, the counters, fridge, then the floor. Then he moved into the dining room and the living room. Considering the fact that he'd clean the house every time he had a day off, there really wasn't much to clean, just sweeping, vacuuming, and even some dusting.

It didn't even take half of a day to finish. Once he was done, all he had to do was relax. He took a deep breath once he was standing in front of his bed and dropped forward...

...right into a large pile of leaves. He immediately scrambled up and looked around. His room had suddenly turned into a forest. He frowned and dusted himself off of leaves and dirt 'This is...weird...' he thought, not really sure of what to make of the situation. He was sure he hadn't worked himself too hard. Sure, he'd gotten pretty tired a few days, but it never led to him hallucinating before.

Something skittered across his neck and he flinched, reaching back only to sigh in relief when he realized that his ribbon had become undone. That was unusual, but it was the most normal thing of this situation, it gave him a sense of being at ease. He made sure it was properly tied before he stretched "Well...no use in just standing around and waiting for something to happen" he looked up, trying to get a sense of what direction light was coming from, though it was hard to tell through all this fog. As long as he had a direction to go, he'd be fine.

He didn't know much about the wilderness, but he knew enough to watch out for snakes and the like.

Of course, he never stopped to wonder why he wasn't scared or surprised. It was as if those emotions had been dampened to allow him to think clearly. It was unusual but not pressing enough for his brain to worry about it.

Jia dusted her hands off and took a step back, admiring her work. Ever since she had moved out of her mother's house and into her own apartment closer to the office, she had been meaning to visit again to tend to the garden. Jia's mother, Daiyu, was growing old fast and would often forget to revisit her beloved garden--or, even when she did remember, her muscles were sore or it was too hot or cold outside. Jia would never admit it, but Daiyu wasn't as lively as she once was in Dunhuang when He was still with them.

"Jia?" Daiyu called from the back porch, overlooking the beautifully gardened scene. She spoke in their native Mandarin as she always did. "Jia, it looks gorgeous. You shouldn't have."

"No, it's fine, I hate to see all your years of work go to waste become of the weeds." Jia had tried speaking to her mother in English to get her more accustomed to the culture since they had moved there, but Daiyu still didn't understand, so Jia had gone back to speaking in their native tongue. "Besides, you know I love caring for the plants."

Daiyu smiled. She really was proud of Jia and everything she had become, and she'd never admit it, but she missed having the young girl around the house. If she told Jia that, she knew that her daughter would drop everything and move back to the house, and she would never interrupt Jia's studies or work.

"Do you need me to stay? Do you need anything?" Jia asked. She had moved out of the house when she was nineteen to pursue her own studies and carreer, but she often worried about her mother and wondered whether or not she made the right decision by leaving.

"No, no, you can leave if you want." Daiyu responded, beckoning for Jia to come back inside. "I know you have your own plants to tend to."

Jia slipped off her gardening apron and hung it on the hook right inside the entry, closing the door behind her. Daiyu's house was cleaner than it had been in years, ever since she had hired a maid to come and clean it once a week. With Daiyu rapidly aging and her bones growing frail, there was little she could do by herself anymore.
"Okay, well," She muttered, putting an arm around Daiyu's waist and helped her into the living room. "If you need anything, don't ever hesitate to call me."

Daiyu waved her off.
"I'm stronger than you give me credit for, Jia."

"I know, mama. But I worry about you."

"Now, get going. I want you home before it's dark. I worry about you, too, you know." She motioned to the door again. With a quick kiss on the cheek, a 'good bye', and an 'I love you', Jia was out the door.

Her apartment was about an hour and a half away if she walked, and most people were just on their way home from work or whatnot. She began her trek home.

The jewelry around her neck began to feel weird, she she reached a hand up to shift it. Sometimes it would get stuck to her skin. But when Jia looked down, her necklace wasn't stuck to her--it was glowing.
Glowing?

She stopped walking and took a sidestep into someone's front yard, examining the necklace closer. It definitely was glowing, and it was heating up, too.
"What the--" Jia looked up. The sidewalk and street had clouded over, and she could barely see anything except for things less than two feet away from her. She stooped down to look at the sidewalk, making sure she hadn't strayed into an unknown area without realizing when she got distracted by her glowing amulet. The sidewalk was still there, so she sprung up and began running in the direction of Daiyu's house.

Suddenly the ground beneath Jia's feet became soft and squishy rather than solid concrete. She stopped and looked around, her breathing heavy, as she wasn't used to running so much. She bent down again. The ground was soft, plush grass rather than a sidewalk.
How far did I run? She wondered.

Se was so caught up in admiring the grass that she hadn't even noticed her surroundings had completely changed, as well. The fog was thinning, and she could now see nothing but endless rows of trees. She knew that she would have remembered running into a forest. Her limbs grew weak with fear, and she fumbled around in her coat pocket for her cell phone. But there was nothing.

Nabi Ryang

Tick... Tock... Tick... Tock... Tick... Tock...

"...and so, the correct method..." One very dull college professor droned on to his class full of young adults, many of which were actually paying attention and taking diligent notes. There was one young lady seated at the back of the class, whom you would normally find doing that same thing, that seemed to have slipped into a daze. She was focused on the small clock above the door rather than the lesson, everything else a dull roar as she focused on the persistent ticking of the clock.

Tick... Tock... Tick... Tock...

On and on the professor seemed to ramble, about information that Nabi Ryang should have been taking notes on instead of watching the hands of the clock impatiently. Her mind was focused on other things, like the meeting she had planned with her aunt earlier that day. They planned to meet at a cafe a few hours after her class ended. Hopefully, the older woman wouldn't have to cancel again.

Tick... Tock...

"...That's it. Your assignment is on the board." Class was finally over. With a sigh, she copied down the assignment, and made her way outside. Once there she started down the busy sidewalk, headed back home. As she walked her hand pulled an old pocket-watch from her pocket. It's chain hung off the back of her hand as she held it. Something was off.

Nabi wandered off the sidewalk and into a public span of lawn, where she settled on the ground by a tree. The pocket-watch felt warm, and not the kind of warm that came from being in her pocket. Curious, she opened the front to look at the clock's face. Everything seemed normal there. Still she found her eyes drawn to the clock's face, and the hands as they moved. The more she stared at it, the faster the hands seemed to move. Faster and faster, until suddenly she snapped her head up, startled and confused. Expecting to see the normal city surroundings...

And finding herself met with an abundance of trees and fog. Lots of fog. It was dark, and most definitely not the city sights she was used to. Confusion set in tenfold, and she tucked the pocket-watch back into her pocket.

"What... The actual fuck just happened?"

The room bustled with activity. The swing of a pair of doors revealed doctors and nurses walking hurriedly through the halls. Figures sat lining the walls, shuffling uncomfortably on their hard plastic seats. Everywhere there was movement and sound. Everywhere but one seat.

Arthur was surprisingly alone for the number of people around him. His head was beat forward as he studied his hands, tracing every crack and line in his flesh. People talk about knowing the back of their hands but they will never grasp how little the phrase meant until they had stood in Arthur's shoes.

"Arthur Redbridge?", a man asked. The question seemed redundant and his next works were equally so. "I'm sorry but your father has suffered a heart attack. He has passed away". Arthur looked at the man and nodded. After an awkward pause the man continued."If you would like to see the..."

"No." Arthur interrupted.

"If you need to talk to.."

"I'm fine" Arthur interrupted again. He was fine. A little confused as well maybe, but fine. People were supposed to feel sad when family members died but Arthur did not. If anything, he felt relieved. He had no idea where to go, but he knew that he did not have anywhere to do. No meals to prepare. No house to clean. Maybe he would...

"These are your father's belongings" The man was still here. He handed Arthur a plastic tub, mostly filled with a smelly singlet and a pair of sweatpants.

"Fine" Arthur accepted the clothes. But it was not just clothes. There was something at the bottom. Under the clothes, amongst some loose coins Arthur's fingers found a heavy ring. He rolled it between his fingers. He had seen it before, his father rarely took it off, but he had never paid it any attention until now. Maybe he could throw it in a river as a final insulting sendoff for his father.

Arthur left the hospital with the ring clutched in his fist. Later he would try to remember how he arrived. Where the transition had been. Had there been one at all? Somehow Arthur had arrived in a forest. He looked around, squinting through the fog.

"I was actually beginning to doubt he even could die." A voice spoke behind Arthur. He spun on his heel to see the speaker but all he saw was a pair of headlights accompanied by the sound of squealing tires.

Edmund Eberhardt

Luck: 100%

(Sorry for the delay. Work kept me busy)

It was a beautiful day, one unlike many others. The sun above was looking far more vivid than usual, the weather was rather pleasant, and the people looked especially chipper as they passed by Edmund's apartment window. Wistfully, he gazed at those who'd taken to the streets, wishing for just a moment that he could be out there with them. But then his thoughts brought him back to his worrying to-do list: chores, bills, an absurdly long paper due three days from now. A disturbing amount of work, even for Ed's standards, but if he just put his mind to it, he might finish up before the sun sets. Maybe then he'd still have time to hit the town. With that in mind, Ed began bending over his laptop, churning out the first few paragraphs of his essay. That was the last thing Ed could remember happening before he woke up, though he oddly couldn't seem to recall ever falling asleep in the first place.

Or ending up in the middle of the woods for that matter.

Edmund scuttled to his feet, staring at the giant rows of trees that had replaced the four walls of his apartment. A mixture of feelings swam through in his mind: first shock, then wonder, then complete, utter bewilderment. What in God's name had happened to him while he was out? Was this a kidnapping? A prank? Divine intervention? Whatever the case, Ed decided that he'd be better off asking these questions later and instead focusing on getting back home as soon as he could. There was still plenty of daytime left. If he just kept moving forward, he'll be bound to run into someone eventually. And who knows? Maybe they could help him make sense of what's happened.

Emani slowed her breathing, her stance forever strong and her head held high. Squinting her eyes, she pulled back her arm slowly, as if time stood still and took one deep breath as she did. Then she released it. Her kept in breath was slowly let out.
Zip went her arrow as it flew towards the target, only to pierce the second to last inner ring. So close, yet so far. She huffed and rolled her eyes towards her companion, who probably was mocking her at this point. They had made a bet to see who had the better aim in their training, and so far they both were at a loss. They were so good, that they couldn't even break a tie.

Emani pouted, resting down her bow to get a quick sip of her water, since it was extremely hot outside for some odd reason. She looked over her shoulder and smirked at Phoebe, talking to her in french. " You stance is off, dear." She chuckled slightly, sitting down to look at Phoebe's shot. She went over to her bow and arrows once more, pulling out an extremely detailed one from the casing. She examined it again and again, the thoughts of her parents that fateful night flooding her thoughts. She remembered her promise towards them and smiled sadly. She was doing fine on her own, learning different languages and newer things, but she felt like something was..missing.

Her hand felt warm as she grabbed it, holding her bow in the other and walked back over to Phoebe. She felt dizzy , the world starting to spin around her while she made her way over to her friend, though she shook it off slightly, and her hand slightly burning up even more. It was an odd feeling; more felt like her parents hugging her for too long in the summer heat times a thousand. She kinda like the feeling, but it was starting to get irritable. Nonetheless, she beared with it and waited for Phoebe's shot.

Crow sat atop on his throne, his sharp nail clacking against the metal. A cat sat next to him, wearing a small witch hat and its tail curled into a small loop. One of his minion looked upon him, bowing down before him and nodded.
"Your highness.... They have arrived.. he hissed. Crow hated that about him because it was the most fucking annoying thing in the entire world. He wasn't even reptilian descent! He growled at him, and laughed evilly, picking up the cat in his arms and walking over to a mirror that was shattered. He couldn't go like this at all, everyone would be scared away by his "good looks".

Crow snapped his fingers and a puff of fog enveloped him and the cat, turning them into more presentable humans. "My dear, it's time we take back what is rightfully ours..." He waved his hand over the mirror, it surfacing a portal to the Promis Woods. He saw many eligible and new... Friends for him to have all to himself, of course with his trusty companion and pet, Medusa next to him. "Come on now, love, for time waits for no one!" With that being said, he pulled her into the portal with him, transporting them to the Promis Woods. He snapped his fingers to send out clones of himself towards the members of his new party, controlling them as he looked for the victims as well.

"Now.. Who's our first victim..?"

(This is where you guys start to see your guardians and use Crow as an NPC.)

Soe drove on. The sun was beginning to go down. He sighed. The ring was still glowing orange. "Stop the car."

"What?" Soe asked.

"Pull over right now."

"What? You can't just ignore me for two weeks, an-" A massive headache struck Soe.

"
Pull over, Semorane." The ring commanded. Soe pulled over and rested his head against the steering wheel.

"What... the hell." the ring began changing colors rapidly.

"
Here we go." The ring spoke and Soe felt everything around him change. His car was gone, and he was on the ground. There was fog all around him, just like the vision from earlier. He sat up.

"Where..."

"
I'll let her explain that to you."

"Her?"

Semorane." He heard a voice call from behind him. The voice was warm, goosebumps formed on his body, and his eyes began to water up.

He turned and looked at the source of the voice. It was a light violet orb of light. "You grew into such a handsome young man..." The voice cracked, as if it wanted to cry as well. It was so familiar.

"Mom..."

"
Yes, dear." The orb moved closer, and changed shape into that of his mother. Soe stood, and hugged her. Tears running down his face. Memories of her flashed through his head rapidly.

"Am I dead, too?"

"
Far from it, dear, you're very alive." She stepped away from him, and grabbed his face. He was taller than her at this point of course.

"Then how are you here?"

"
I stayed behind in order to see you one last time."

"Dad didn't want to see me?"

"
Only one of us could be allowed to see you, he wanted to, but he let me be have it."

"I see... where is this place, what's with the ring, what happened to you guys?"

"
You have a lot of questions, we should move though, staying in one place isn't safe for you, come now." She stepped away from him, and returned into the form of the glowing orb. She began moving and Soe followed. He looked up, and saw the trees seemed to grow endlessly...

Medusa sat next to Crow with smile on her face daydreaming in her own little world. She didn't even noticed that one of Crows minions was talking to him. She suddenly felt herself get picked up and it broke her out of her day dream. She looked up at him and tilted her head. "Meow?" She followed his eyes to the shattered mirror and looked at it as well and soon found herself in human form. She smiled happily. "Yay! Finally time to go?! I'm already!" She found herself getting pulled into the mirror by him and found herself in a new location.

She blinked and looked around curiously. "Oh this is where we are finding them huh?" She said as she was looking all over the place popping from one spot to the next. "Haha" She then walked over back to Crow and jumped up and wrapped her arms around his neck from behind hugging him. She smiled brightly but then her smile in a blink of an eye turned devious. "Looking for victims now huh? I'm ready when you are Master." She giggled and her eyes glowed while still keeping that devious smile on her face. "Let's play"

@Adira

Averi sighed as he walked. He'd been walking for what felt like ages in this forest and he wasn't getting anywhere. What was worse was that the light didn't seem to change direction no matter how far he went. It was beginning to get on his nerves. Speaking of which...

He looked over his shoulder to look at the floating ball of light as it followed him "I told you not to follow me, I don't want to hear whatever you have to say" this ball of light had appeared around ten minutes ago. At first, he'd been intrigued, then it had spoken.

"Come on son, you can't just keep ignoring me, I'm supposed to be here teaching you" the ball of light's voice was deep and manly, certainly not what you'd expect.

Averi shook his head "I don't care" he said "You've always been like this Father, always wrapped up in your own things, off on whatever adventure you were on..whatever you did. If you had something to say to me, you should have come visited like Mom" he frowned deeply "Damn, you didn't even come home with Mom when she got sick. I didn't even know until she got home!"

He always hated talking with his dad. The man never seemed to have any time for him and his mother. To a young Averi, it was like his mom lived on his father's word, always going off to help him when he called. That always aggravated him. Why did she keep going to him no matter what he did.

Suddenly, a hand landed on his shoulder, making him turn. Instead of the ball of light, he was staring at his father. For a second, he thought he'd found a mirror. He really hadn't realized that he and his father looked so much alike.

Averi couldn't help but also notice that his father had long white hair just like him. It was even tied up with a red string, similar to the ribbon Averi himself wore. He wondered if it was a thing his parents shared.

Sanada.Nobuyuki.full.1697967.jpg

The man sighed "Listen Averi, I was busy dealing with things far more complicated than you'll ever know...and after your mother got sick I became even more focused on what I was doing"

He ran a hand through his hair "Your mom and I...had a job to do, one that had to deal with the fate of two worlds"

Averi raised an eyebrow. While this sounded like fantasy, he really couldn't argue with his father. He was currently talking to what appeared to be a dead man which, by the way, he hadn't known to be dead until just now. He was also in a seemingly endless forest. If he was dreaming, it was a pretty vivid dream, and if he was dead, he'd much rather be talking to his mother.

"There is much to talk about...and not a lot of time to do it" his father looked around, his hand moving to the hilt of his sword. Averi was a little surprised he hadn't noticed the weapon before.

His father continued to look around "This forest isn't as simple as it seems, nor as peaceful, there are...things out there that I'd rather not mention. Sometimes mentioning unwanted things brings the unwanted"

"And sometimes they show up unannounced anyway" Averi commented "Fine old man, lead the way and explain"

The man chuckled as he began to walk "First of all, your mother and I were a team, I was the Warrior and she was the Assassin" he saw Averi's look "Don't look at me like that, she mostly did recon, more like a Ninja than an Assassin" he chuckled "But her skills were unmatched in her field...seeing your mother fight...well, you'd understand why I fell in love with her"

"This does sound absolutely insane, you know that right?" Averi said frowning. He really began to wonder if he was just dreaming.

"I know how it sounds, I was the same way when my father told me" he sighed "But here we are...though originally your mother was supposed to come and show you the ropes, seeing as you have her ribbon and everything....but she was really upset with me for not being there more when you were a kid"

Averi laughed slightly "Sounds like mom, she got pretty mad at me too when I would prefer to stay and take care of her..." he frowned "You don't know how many times I watched her get sick and wish I could find you and drag you home to take care of her with me...she really missed you"

The man looked embarrassed "I know...but I had to keep working, though I never stopped looking for a cure to her sickness" he frowned "I knew the doctors could help a bit, but the cause of it was magical..." he paused and frowned "This way" he turned and headed in a different direction.

Averi wondered at what had spooked his father but followed. His father hadn't been a good father, but Averi had never known him to lie. He decided to listen to his father on this. However, he still didn't care for him.

Melissa

a laugh? is someone else here? Mel looked around with slanted eyes, reaching for the nearest branch. Immdiently, she swung her weight up and hooked to the next. The laughter still rang out in her ears. I have heard that laugh before...wait. Her eyes snapped open with recognition. "Father?" The laughter stopped and for a minute she thought she was insane. Then, a orb like shape that kept glowing, flew in front of her. "Hello Dear." It said, and within seconds her father appeared. Tears sprang to her eyes and she held them back. "Did the coin kill me and now i am here?" She whispered. Her thoughts all mumbled and bled together.

Her father gave that warm heart retching signature smile of his. "No. You are far from dead...." He looked at her hand that kept twitching. " i assume it burt you to?" he said holding his left wrist up. She gave a smiled, remembering he never showed his wrist and always wore a glove. "It did." she said. Mel perked up. "Footsteps. They sound close. What's going on Father?" She asked quietly. He motioned for her to be quiet and follow. She followed up the tree and jumped to the next. Quietly, mind you.

"Your mother wanted to see you, but she figured you be more happy to see me. I tried to convince her to stay instead if me." He said looking her up and down. "Is my strong one crying?" He asked and looked at her. "No dad. Just not sure weather this is a dream or if it really is reality. " She said taking a shaky breath. "This is....confusing. What does this have to do at all with me?" She asked, her father stilled, not answering. "We have to get moving. We can't stay in one place for long. " and with that he disappeared and she kept jumping limb by limb to keep up.

location: target range -> forest

mentions: @Adira

Phoebe snapped out of her small reverie as she heard the zing of the arrow sail through the air, landing...
right beside the bullseye. She giggled and twirled her gun. "Rusty, aren't you, Miss Archer?" Her green eyes trailed her friend as she made her way over to her water bottle, her mind wandering before she remembered she was supposed to make a shot.

As she readied herself, Phoebs paused as Emani called her out on her stance. Replying in her odd French accent, "That's the difference between guns and arrows, Emani. You don't need a stance, you just
shoot!" Closing an eye as she peered through the scope, aiming carefully. Subtly, she felt the ring on her middle finger grow slightly warm, but she couldn't miss this shot, couldn't afford to lose to Emani. As the ring seemed to grow warmer and warmer, her thoughts were suddenly filled with her family. She struggled to push away the visions that overwhelmed her immensely, and used all of her willpower in concentrating on the shot.

Chewing on her lip, she squeezed her eyes shut unnaturally before pulling the trigger, the crack of the shot leaving the gun also signalling the escape of the last of her self-control, and her mind opened to allow the flood of warmth that greeted her. Phoebe fell over, her grip on her gun tighter than ever as she slumped to the ground. Her brain vaguely registered a thud somewhere behind her, but the thought faded along with her consciousness.

She felt sunlight hit her face as she opened her eyes, rolling over and almost slamming into a tree. "Wha-?" Her awareness slowly returning, Phoebe struggled to her feet, steadying herself with a hand on the thick trunk of the tree. "Did they renovate the target range?" she asked to no one in particular, the confusion evident in her voice.

"This is no target range, love. Don't shoot the animals. They bite." she swivelled around at the familiar voice, and her bright green eyes welled with tears as she caught sight of her mother, her legs breaking into a sprint as she lunged into her mother's arms.

She was colder, wispier, dead-er. But she was still mum.

Phoebe felt a hand caress her hair before she was suddenly embracing nothing, and she noticed that in her mother's place was a small glowing orb. "Have you become a ball? You were a great person, why would you have been reincarnated into a glowing ball?" The orb laughed, which was weird, because orbs don't usually laugh, but Phoebe didn't care, because that was her mother's laugh.

"You're still the same, aren't you? I'm here to guide, you, love, and I haven't been reincarnated. I'm your guardian, for now, at least."

Phoebe nodded, her brain slowly processing all the info, before she was hit by another question.

"Where's dad?"

The orb let out what seemed like a sigh, but Phoebe wasn't totally sure.
"Dad... Only one of us could be your guardian, and he let me be it. He wants me to tell you he loves you and he wishes that he could've been there all the way. We both do." At this, Phoebe burst into tears again, covering her face with her hands as she cried.

"I've missed you both so much." she said in between sobs, and wiped at her eyes.

The orb moved closer and hovered by her shoulder.
"Now, love, I've missed you to, but we must be going. These woods have never been safe, and I doubt that fact has changed. Come along, dear. I'll explain everything as we move." With that, the orb ambled away, and Phoebe stumbled to follow.

Emani snickered at her response, before she was on the ground, kneeling next to Phoebe.
"Phoebe? Phoebe?! Don't pull this shit on me...." She herself started feeling different, or warmer to be precise. Her head started to spin again and she allowed it to take over, causing her to hit to ground once more. The arrow was still in her hand as she woke up, everything not looking like her backyard, but more like an actual forest. She stood up using her hands, the damp earth wiggling in between her fingers and looked up to the towering trees above, seeming as if they had no end to their growth. She was in the middle of a dark forest, without her friend or her weapon. Great. "Happy thoughts, think happy thoughts.... It'll be ok", she told herself, biting her lip and playing with the arrow subconciously.

"Why so scared, flower?" A voice echoed out of the darkness, acting as if it was some sort of lost soul. That voice... It couldn't be.. She was nudged by something and turned around to face a red glowing ball, almost jumping back from it. "P-papi? Wha...Is it actually you?"? Emani was dumbfounded at the thought; this all seemed nearly impossible. She touched the ball, and that same warmth came back. It felt like.. Home.

"My dear, it is me...I missed you so much, but we don't have a lot of time..." The ball started to drift away, and Emani found herself following nonetheless, even with the hesitation. "Where's mama, papi?" The soul of her father responded, "Well... Only one of us could see you, and everyone agreed I should be the one to see my little girl..." He paused, as if he himself felt emotion. "She says she loves you so much... And misses you even more..." Emani was on the verge of tears at this point, but tried to keep her composure. "Where are we, papi? What's going on..?"

The ball came to a halt under a ray of sunlight peeking through the towering trees, glimmering onto the nature below it. It formed into the shape of her father, more human like than before, and he reached over to hold his hand on hers, the arrow feeling more warm than before.
"My dear, you are a guardian, as hard as that is to explain and you have to continue that legacy. You are a born archer, and I want you to continue that here... Its what we left to finish..." Emani didn't understand at all what he meant, but looked down at their hands both holding the arrow. She smiled, the tears overflowing in her eyes.

He pointed to her heart and forehead, the red mist swirling around her. It vanished into the thin air moments later, and she was revealed wearing armor and a beautiful, bladed bow in her hand. She looked back up at her father, who smiled sadly at her.

Emani was about to open her mouth, tears dripping down her face, when something started rustling the bushes..

Arthur Redbridge, The Promis Woods

[border]Arthur blinked his eyes open to harsh glow of flurescent lights. Everything was white, from the walls to the bed he was lying in. He was back inside the hospital.

"Uh... Hello?" He called out, to noone in particular. A woman appeared at his side.

"Good, you're awake." She said, although the 'good' part sounded more like a courtesy than a real reaction.

"What happened?"

"Your were hit by a truck while crossing the road outside the hospital."

"I was in a forest..." Arthur spoke slowly, as if the words didn't really make sense to him as he was saying them. He took in his surroundings. His clothes were folded beside him. The ring had been placed on his bedside table. He reached out to it. There was something about that ring.

"Its actually quite remarkable. Your X-rays showed almost no..." The doctor paused for a moment. "I'm sorry, did you say a forest?". Not paying attension, Arthur slide the ring onto his finger.

Pain. His arm was on fire. Jagged strips of metal pushed through the skin of his right hand and forearm. Screaming, Arthur used his other hand to make grasping motions in the air, unsure if he should grab his arm, pull the metal shards out, or just not touch them. Eventually he ran out of breath and, after sputtering a few times Arthur took in his surroundings.

He was in the forest again, curled into a ball on a pile of leaves. A glowing orb floated infront of him.

"Sorry. I was going to tell you that this might happen" A voice eminated from the orb.

"What is this!?" Arthur would have shouted, but he was having difficulty breathing.

"The Promis Woods. Its a place between..." Arthur, with tears in his eyes, cut the orb short by motioning angrily to his wounded arm. The orb sunk down to ground level, appearing to study his arm. "Does that hurt? It never seemed to bother your father."

"YES IT HURTS!" Arthur shouted, "Who even are you?" Arthur rolled onto his feet, slipping a little on the damp leaves. His arm throbbed and ached. The orb raised up with him.

"I worked with your Father. We were the protectors of this world. And now, that is your legacy to uphold" There was a slience after the orb stopped speaking. Arthur looked at the ground, thinking. He looked at the orb.

"How do I get out of here?"

"Walk", The orb replied.

"No. How do I get back to the hospital. My arm is torn to shreds." He waved his arm, still em#bedded with jagged metal, at the orb. It caused pain to shoot back through his arm and he pulled it in to his chest.

"You can't. Not now." The orb hovered above him a little. Arthur sighed and started walking. It was clear that the orb was not going to be any help.

Skyler Mitchell

scared to get close

hate being alone

long for that feeling

None of this made any sense whatsoever. And Skyler was sort of starting to get pissed off about it. Just a moment ago, she had been taking her lunch break and heading to get a sandwich. Now, she was standing in the middle of a forest, because her damned necklace had pulled her in. Which also didn't make any sense because she'd been wearing it for years and never before had it acted as some sort of magical transporter thing. And especially not to a forest, because she lived in a city, and the nearest forest was miles away. Slowly, she rose to her feet, glaring at the trees like they were at fault for her predicament. As far as she was concerned, they might be. So far, nothing and no one had shown themselves, or even tried to explain what was going on. Which was only making her angrier. Skyler had to be sent here by a damned necklace, and no one was even gonna tell her why? There was no way in hell she was going to accept that.

"This is bullshit," Skyler said, still glaring at the forest. She craned her head down to look at her necklace. Unlike before, when it had literally kidnapped her, the clasp was back in place again, and it was closed. "Oh, no you don't. You are not gonna leave me here," Skyler snarled at the inanimate object, reaching back to undo the chain. The small cone fell into her palm, and Skyler leaned over it, wrestling with the opening. She had never actually tried to open it before, due to ridiculous personal superstitions, but maybe that was a good thing. The necklace was proving to be as stubborn as Skyler herself. Which wasn't great for the girl now stranded in strange woods, probably full of incredibly dangerous creatures. Of course the one keepsake she had kept from her parents was trying to kill her. It just made sense. They had probably planned this out. If she skimped on her training and dared not to be totally perfect, the necklace would just steal her away until she satisfied their impossible expectations. Well, Skyler was done playing by their rules. They were the ones who had disappeared and left her to fend for herself. She had her own rules now, and her own way of living, and her parents could suck it.

"It's not going to open," a voice said, and Skyler jumped, turning to try and see where it had come from. "It doesn't just open when you want it to open." Skyler scowled into the trees, still turning to try and tell where the voice was coming from. It echoed all around her, refusing to consolidate in a single spot.

"It's a necklace. It's sorta supposed to open when I open it," Skyler retorted, eyes narrowing. This time, she stilled, waiting to hear the voice again. Maybe there was a telltale sign, something that would help her figure out where it was coming from. A rustle of leaves to the right, small vibration right in front of her, animal chirping behind her.

"It is not just a necklace," the voice said, sounding disapproving. Skyler almost laughed at that. At least some things stayed the same, right? She was never smart enough. But that didn't mean she wasn't smart. Skyler spun to her left and charged towards the one still and silent spot in the forest. Of course the voice was speaking from there, it just made sense. Everywhere else had the background radiation of life, but not here, and that was because... Because a giant black orb was levitating there, somehow radiating an aura of smugness that no orb should have.

"So you did find me," her mother said. "I thought perhaps you had lost your edge."

"I think you're the one who's gotten rusty," Skyler replied coldly. "Being gone for five years will do that to anyone."

"Don't let your emotions get the best of you," her mother commented, ignoring Skyler's words. "You won't survive here if you keep on being so headstrong. And speaking of your head..." The orb floated slightly closer to Skyler, giving her the sense of being scrutinized. It was just like old times. "That hair is utterly inappropriate for your position."

"My position as a bartender?" Skyler asked, sarcastically. "Or do you mean the position where I'm stuck in some random forest, with a weird-ass glowing orb that is apparently my long-lost mother? Because I'd say, either way, this hair is just about fuckin' perfect."

"Language," the orb admonished and Skyler couldn't help but shake her head at how typical that was of her mother. "This isn't just a 'random forest'. This is the Promis Woods, the in-between place. You are here to ready yourself for the upcoming battles. You will be a guardian, devoted only to the safety of this land. Nothing else will matter to you, except for your duty. Your duty is all you are, and it is time that you took your place here." The orb finished speaking and there was a moment of silence as Skyler stared, wide-eyed. Finally, however, she spoke.

"Yeah, fuck that."

to not feel at all

the higher I get

the lower I'll sink

can't drown my demons, they know how to swim
