Fantasy Kolan and The Wolf Guild

Rare was the times that Henry was actually unnerved by something. The last time it happened, it took a literal kraken bashing them around for him to actually break out into a metaphorical cold sweat. Even his little tussle with a fae a few days ago didn't break his nerves like it would for a normal man.

This was going to be a big fight. A lot of lives were in an army. This wasn't going to be Henry's first time fighting against an army and it probably wasn't going to be the last. The vampire wasn't nervous about the army or how powerful they were or even how many numbers it contained.

No, the cause was something entirely different.

So many lives that can be extinguished. So much blood that can be spilled. He could stain the ground if he wanted. Just the prospect of it alone was enough to freeze him solid. His body quivered at the thought of making the rivers run red. The most basic, primal instinct an undead creature like him had. The need to kill and eat, eat and kill.

One of the things that kept him together was that he knew it wouldn't be enough. The thirst... it could be sated but it could never be satisfied. Even if he drank every single member of the army dry, after he woke up from being blood drunk, he would crave more again. Like always.

It was never ending.

What made him nervous was the very real risk of Henry losing himself in the slaughter. Forgetting who he is. A very real threat.

A blood frenzy.

If he were to succumb to one, he would lose all sense of reason and more importantly, he would be unable to identify friend from foe. Everyone was a target at that point. Everyone was food. Nothing escaped the frenzy.

But he couldn't just sit back on this one. He was one of the guild's heavy hitters.

So, the answer was simple. Don't frenzy.

Easier said than done.

Once they got close enough, Henry was tapping his foot nervously. Everyone charged forward by foot or by flight and the vampire opted to physically leap forward and landed just past Calla's hellfire. A dragon had flown overhead and along with the kraken, they started wreaking havoc on the enemy ships.

The opposing forces were within a short sprint's distance with Roland bowling through their formations they were now aware that they were being pincered. The element of surprise was gone now. The rear forces were turning to face the Raven guild's flank attack and Henry was in full view. He was sprinting at supernatural speeds and was he was close enough, he leapt forward once more. Spears were aimed upwards towards him, in hopes that he would impale himself on them.

Alas, their polearms were bashed aside by an unseen force and then they were promptly shoved backwards by a huge telekinetic wave of energy. It broke any semblance of a formation they had but they were quick to recover.

Well-trained. He'll give them that.

They advanced upon him, dozens against one and the closer they got the more that itch bothered him. He needed to scratch it so bad and he knew how. Perhaps, he just needed to indulge in it a tiny bit.

The closed in around the vampire and he put up no resistance to fight back. Henry just stood there with his arms down and breathing heavily. They soldier's misunderstood it as fear or terror.

They only noticed how wrong they were when a fresh recruit broke formation and through a piercing spear thrust at the elder vampire. Henry merely glanced at him and the thrust that was aimed at his head suddenly veered off course and just missed him. His technique had been perfect yet, he missed. How?

The answer came when a gut wrenching Crack! Filled the air. The young soldier fell to the floor, suddenly losing his ability to stand. He was confused until he looked down at his legs. Both of them were pointed at unnatural angles from the knees down and that was when he understood.

He looked up just to lock eyes with could only be described as a crazed, scarlet-eyed, mad man that was looking at him like he was a piece of steak to eat.

That's because he was.

His body suddenly started to be lifted from the ground and soon enough he was dangling in the air, screaming and panicking. His fellow soldiers snapped out of their shock and charged forward to save him, spear tips glinting in the light with avarice, hungry for flesh.

The now, crippled boy's body suddenly veered left and was flipped horizontally. Every spear found its mark into the body of their ally and even pushed through the front, stopping just before they touched the crimson-eyed monster.

The boy was choking, unable to breathe. Unable to move. The terror in his eyes came to a head before....

Nothing.

That same terror was now being seen in the eyes of his comrades around him. Other members of the formation charged forward only for another one of their own to suddenly be flung forward to act as a meat shield to the strike, slowly spraying the vampire full of blood until he was damn near soaked to the bone in it.

Then the thought came...

'.....Fuck it.....'

Henry pulled his arm back and formed a kinetic blade along his forearm. The next person that stepped forth was pulled off balance and then cleanly cleaved in half. From his nether regions to the top of his skull. Another brave soul ventured forward only for his knees to snap inward and then be lifted into the air. He flayed around, screaming for help until the top half of his body and the bottom half were turn in opposite direction.

The wet snapping sound of a spine being shattered and pulled out of shape was like music to Henry's ears but he wasn't done.

The contorted human's head was unceremoniously torn off and the undead made sure he was directly above him as the bloody waterfall poured down atop his head and down his form. A very visible shiver passed through the ancient and he lifted his head up and opened his mouth.

His tongue snaked out and guided the waterfall in his desired correction. More bones could be heard popping and snapping as psychic pressure mounted from toes to severed neck. Like squeezing the last bit of toothpaste from the tube.

The Gloryceans could only look on in absolute horror before someone cried out the obvious.

"VAMPIRE!"

The cry brought a horrifying smile to Henry's lips and he stopped his bloody waterfall drink to look at the one who yelled that. The floating body was cast aside and the vampire extended both arms to either side, in a welcoming gesture. "Yes. A vampire. Now, do me a favor ladies and gentlemen. Try not to die too quickly. It's not as fun."

His fangs came out along with his claws and he yanked a retreating soldier from his break and drove his hand straight through his armor and out the other side.

They all came at once now and the sound of Henry's laughter was drowned out by yells of battle and screams of terror.

'Just have to not frenzy. No one said I couldn't enjoy myself.'

If there was anything to be said of Raven Guild it was that there was no lack of excitement. There had hardly been a moment's rest since Arleth joined the guild, though that wasn't something to complain about because she had expected her endeavor to be rather dull. Despite the fact that there had been missions that didn't spark her interest which included this battle they were now participating in which she held no personal stake in, she would be lying if she said she was bored. Boredom was likely the last word she would use describe anything within the realm of the guild's current activities, electric was likely a more apt description for their current situation because the air was charged with a multitude of feelings, least of which could be any form of disinterest and despite the Half-Fae's ever calm and seemingly irritable facade, even she felt the restless anticipation of impending combat.

It had been evident that Calla wanted their attack to be discreet, considering the fog and use of the kraken (which Arleth was highly interested in considering it was a comrade and not just a wild beast) to take out the enemy ships, though a sea creature taking out ships by the masses and a giant wall of flame cutting the army off from their naval forces wasn't exactly subtle. Tzeentch had released a few questioning caws at the sudden loss of light, though Arleth lightly pinched his beak as she placed a finger to her darkly tinted lips, shushing softly. As they listened, she wondered how long it would take for the forces ashore to recognize the creaking, crashing, and cries of terror echoing from the ships as they were pulled beneath the waves. She couldn't help but smirk slightly, a gesture no one could see unless they were like her and could see in the dark.

As Arleth stood in the darkness with her feet slightly astride and gloved hands on her hips, the thought crossed her mind that the Wolf Guild leader must have done something horrendous or be an incredible force to be reckoned with for Gloryce to send such a large force to attack the guild. Though she supposed that it was likely the latter since Calla seemed to be an upstanding individual and why would she aid an abominable person let alone agree to be in a friendly competition with his opposing guild. Though she had little time to speculate as the loud flapping of scaled wings could be heard over head and was soon followed by a gust of wind which accompanied a dragon that seemed to be there to aid the Kraken and that meant it was also a comrade to the guilds. What an interesting turn of events.

Arleth smiled partially from the pure surprise of it all as the calls of distress from the ship that was being flown over the army reached her delicately pointed ears, her gaze drifting over to Roland as he offered transportation and she supposed she ought to adhere to Calla's directive as she left and the other shifter's lead and offer some aid to their non-airborne allies. Without a word, Arleth stepped up alongside Roland, her body stretching and broadening as a cascade of black fur and feathers rippled along her body until she no longer resembled her humanoid form but instead was a darker likeness of the already formed griffin beside her. Like he had, she too knelt in order to more easily allow a passenger to climb atop her back and once anyone who needed transport was aboard, her muscular haunches covered in sleek black fur tensed as she launched herself from the deck of the ship, her flight completely soundless thanks to the Vidarian Cloak she had been wearing prior to transformation.

She stayed within a respectable proximity to Roland as they flew, her bright yellow eyes focusing in on her own target as the brown griffin bowled over several of them. As one of the soldiers heard the yelps of surprise from those that had been rammed by an unknown flying object, he turned only to catch a glimpse of his own demise heralded by silent black death as Arleth's talons fiercely dug into either of his shoulders, gripping him tightly as she lifted him from the ground before hurling him at yet another group of unsuspecting victims before she doubled back out of the fray to let her passenger off a safe distance away. Even though she thought it best that they not get picked off one-by-one after having paid witness to the rush of psychic energy the vampire had used to break the soldiers' formations, she determined that staying near him probably wasn't the safest place to be, needless to say, she was wary.

It was probably best not to get in the vampire's way judging by the terrified uproar coming from his vicinity, leave him to his own prey, so to speak. She didn't take after Roland either and instead was soon to shift back into her usual form, her swords remained in their places crossed over her back and instead the glimmer of the blade of her dagger could be seen as it reflected the fire at their backs. A single nod was given to her comrades that had arrived at the front by other means before she soundlessly moved off into the fray, her form virtually invisible in the darkness as she stalked off to carry enemy soldiers off to their graves in her own more subtle manner.

"My Guild is fighting from the shore. Those left in the water are being taken cared off by a Kraken and some other allies."

After finishing off the Glorycean soldiers, John retreated as well only for Calla to land beside him at the hall's entrance with good news. "Calla... Thank you. Thank you so--"

John suddenly stopped and seized Calla, pulling her behind him. A spear then struck the Wolf Guild leader in the shoulder, punching through his armor. The assailant was none other than the Glorycean leader. "You'll pay, Lord Farrinor. You'll all pay." She hissed before pulling out her longsword. Her stance indicated she was a professional in handling the two-handed blade. The Gloryceans who have managed to dock joined her, a couple dozen of them. "For Gloryce!" She roared and the Glorycean army cheered with her.

She and her cohort charged. John pulled out the spear, risking blood loss, and rose to meet his people. With his halberd, he shattered shields and punctured armor. Meanwhile, the Glorycean leader had her eyes on the Raven Guild leader. "I see Farrinor has more friends than we thought. No matter, you may have surprised us with your gimmicks but none of you will leave here alive." The black knightess lunged at Calla with a quick overhead swing.

Meanwhile, Dura fought with John against the oncoming Gloryceans whilst Calla fought the humans' leader. Help came when Arleth hopped into the fray and joined them in repelling the Gloryceans with her subtle attacks. After several moments of beating down knights, the Gloryceans stopped and parted to let through their elite warriors. "Enforcers..." John whispered in awe. These new knights were easily seven and a half feet tall, clad in shiny but bulky armor and they were armed with a simple two-handed warhammer. One approached Dura but John, ever the hero, moved to intercept. The Enforcer swung mightily and John attempted to block, only for the warhammer to break through the halberd and send the Wolf Guild leader flying through the guild doors.

The Enforcer returned to the Orc and prepared another powerful swing. Dura and Arleth had a feeling these elite knights were going to be tough to take down.

~ Fenris Fenris ~
Despite Cassiel's arrows, the Gloryceans were breaking through the barricades. Some climbed over them while some swung their warhammer and broke down the defenses. Cassiel had no choice but to retreat into the guild hall lest he be overwhelmed.

Inside, he found John lying on the floor. He was bleeding in the shoulder and his armor dented at the rib areas. The guild leader got up but his legs were wobbling and grabbed his halberd, only to see that it was snapped in half. Gods damn it... Cassiel?" He noticed the Elf. "It's bad. We may have reinforcements but the Gloryceans are throwing everything they have." He muttered. The windows at the sides of the hall were shattered as Glorycean knights poured into the Wolf Guild's hall.

Summoning strength, John stood tall against the attackers. A knight swung his sword at him only for John to block it with his gauntlet and punched the knight away, taking his sword in the process. Meanwhile, Cassiel found himself squaring off with a knight with two blades. Her frame was short and petite but her stance betrayed no openings. It was clear this knight was a quick, nimble fighter.

The Gloryceans surrounded Henry but did not attack, intimidated by his power. But there were some who were not, these knights were seven and a half feet tall, clad in shiny but bulky armor and they were armed with a simple two-handed warhammer. "Enforcers..." Henry heard a knight utter. Two of them made their through the other knights and faced the vampire without fear. They were eerily silent as the rest of the Gloryceans watched the imminent battle.

Without warning, one Enforcer charged with a horizontal swing. The attack was painfully slow, but these brutes were clearly more than meets the eye.

The Gloryceans did not expect flying creatures to join the battle. They had bows and arrows but Harold and Roland easily dodged these. From the air, they saw that as the battle raged on, the Glorycean fleet and army still stood strong. Their ships were being sunk but there were still a lot of them, their knights were being felled but there were more still coming. The Wolf and Raven Guilds have a lot on their platter.

Two situations arose for Harold and Roland to intervene. The fog cast on the shore was dispelled when a Glorycean ship exploded, with force powerful enough to blow away the mist. Another Glorycean vessel then rammed into the sole Raven Guild ship while the other human ships zeroed in on the Kraken, pelting the creature with arrows and spears.

~ AgWordSmith AgWordSmith (Anahita & Czare) ~

The fog worked effectively, the Glorycean ships were in disarray when Czare began sinking the ships.

However, a huge explosion from a ship blew away the mist enough for vision to return to the Gloryceans. A vessel then rammed into Anahita's ship and human warriors began boarding the Raven Guild vessel. One of them was a person clad in fur and leather armor wielding a two-handed axe. "Sir Ragnar, do we take prisoners?" One of the warriors asked him, giving away his identity."

"No."

Ragnar then led his men into battle.

Meanwhile, now that Czare could be seen, the Glorycean fleet began to retaliate. Archers lines formed and began firing volleys upon the Kraken while other ships had spearmen who hurled their weapons by the dozens. And that was not all, the other ships of Gloryce steered into Czare's position, eager to join the fight and overwhelm the sea creature.

“They're trying to surround us!” he shouted, uncertain if anyone would be able to hear him over the din of battle as another swarm of missiles rained down nearby. Thankfully proving ineffective against the layered defenses yet again. "We need to cut them off. Harold? Claire?" He cast a quick glance about to see who was close by.
He managed to completely shift by the time he reached the fire wall, something that he got rather good at after shifting so many times over the hundreds of years he's been alive. Flying over the ships he would pick a smaller one, falling down and grasping it with his claws, lifting it up and flying it over the island, dropping on the people trying to surround them.
uddenly a dragon flew overhead and Roland whistled. Must be from the Wolf Guild. The dragon had gone to pick off the ships as well. Roland turned to his non-flying comrades. "Well guys, hop on. I'll take you to the beach." He said as he shifted into a griffin and then kneeling before them. Once they hopped on, he took off from the deck and over the firewall where they could now see the full extent of the army that was now marching towards the Wolf Guild and slowly surrounding them. He began to descend in a sharp motion and then ramming against a couple of footmen who had not noticed him. He urged those who rode him to get off before taking flight once more, occasionally dipping down to knock off some footmen.
No matter, you may have surprised us with your gimmicks but none of you will leave here alive." The black knightess lunged at Calla with a quick overhead swing. Meanwhile, Dura fought with John against the oncoming Gloryceans whilst Calla fought the humans' leader.
As fires rose and dragons picked off ships the kraken kept sinking them while a vampire rampaged through the troops. Some charged forward towards the guild hall as other went to fight off the rest of the opposition. Archers went to bring down those in the sky as mages sought out a foe in darkness. The towns folk of Galventia began to look upon the battle, speaking among themselves. Gloryceans here? to take their wolf guild? The ravens are even here, should we watch?

"LETS GO HELP OUR GUILD!" A man shouted, men and woman took up their own weapon, mages from all over the hekkaspectrum came down to aid the guilds. No one would attack Kolan's own and get away with it,

Calla was yanked away as John took a hit for her, then left the human for the fae to take care of. The enforcers were a surprise but she could take the leader.

"Seems like more of your own have died instead of ours." Calla couldn't help but grin. All the humans falling she could feel the souls leave the bodies, dozen upon dozens to her disposal, of course after ward she'd have to act like she blew out her magic at the least. Faking an overload like that won't be to hard. What will be hard is controlling herself.

There was a reason Necromancers of old went crazy.

Calla Swung her sword up to have her blade meet the blacknight's and all she could do was grin. Fire burst out from her and consumed her body, turning an eerie green as the ground rumbled. The fallen humans all around would begin to shake and convulse till a green light would emit from them, bones and skin being knitted together with the energy as they rose up and fought back against their former allies. Some of the fallen by Calla coming to her aid. "Can't touch me with out letting the fire melt your flesh and certainly can't fight so many opponents incapable of dying. You really think you can fight Both the Wolf and Raven Guilds? Even the people of Kolan come to our aid, you Gloryceans," she spat, "Think you can keep everything hidden in your valley, your justice does not extend out here with the rest of the world."

The magic was almost intoxicating to execute. So many of them out in this battlefield and more falling into her control. This was nothing, a drop of power, simply child's play for the fae. She can play human all she wanted after but this was her moment. Even after the little time that had passed her heart was still in anguish from breaking before and it bled into her magic. It felt great to let it go let it consume her like the flames and let it out. The green fire surrounded her and the blackknight, her sword even becoming alight. Calla swung and aimed for the human's weak little heart.

Dure blinked at her guild leader, he took a hit for her. "John I appreciate it but you should really be our princess in the tower right now." They were all supposed to be protecting him. If some solider got a hold of him and ran off then they would've all failed. Thankfully he did go back into the hall. These enforcers looked tough but she was tougher, an Orc warrior with the power of alchemy at her finger tips. These guys had nothing on her. The little Fae lady by her, well she held her ground so far, Dura wouldn't judge a book by it's cover, even if the woman seemed like a frail little twig. They were back to back as the enforces came at them. "I'll rough them up you take them down Shadow lady." The Orc grinned.

She punched her knuckled into the dirt, bolts of energy flaying around as the ground rumbled, rock jutted out from the ground under each hulking knight. Sending them up in the air. That was a little move she learned from earth elementals up in the territories, and paired so nicely with her transmuting. Dura swung up her Kusarigama and the chain wrapped around an enforcer, she hauled him back down into the dirt and did the same with the next one, giving Arleth time to finish them off.

he fog worked effectively, the Glorycean ships were in disarray when Czare began sinking the ships.

Anahita kept a hold of her ship as they were rammed and boarded. "Ragnar, old buddy old Pal" She grinned as her crew fought the humans and their water mage sent waves up between the ships, sweeping away the plank they used to get onto her ship. Then sending the water down to separate the vessels. "Didn't think I would get to have that second date. What was it you said when I left your last ship sulking in Catalanias Bay by Gloryce? A chimera was beneath you to sink? Funny coming from a human beneath me. Should've drowned me when you had the chance." The captain grinned, seeming unaffected by the chaos around her.

Her mage had jumped into the water coming out of it surrounded by the sea taking our soldiers with the sweep of sea water tentacles. Her wind mage pushed back soldiers into the water. She had fighters that fought dirty, a charmer who had these lovely trinkets that would send who ever it touched to a deep sleep for days. Her first mate, a much better choice than the last oh they were great, simply great with cards and shadow tricks, that's how they took out hits for the kolan army back in the day. Only she could see them slipping between the soldiers shadows and placing a card on their, person. each suit and number a different sort of death trap.

Ragnar was hers though. She had a few tussles with him when getting to close to Gloryce shores. She drew her sword and went after Ragnar. A strike and then a punch. She may only be half orc but she was still stronger than him.

Czare in the water felt each little arrow like a sting. They were hurting him and he didn't like it. A piercing shriek echoed in the water as he shot out a tentacle to pierce through the hull of the ship nearing him and dragging it into the water. Even as a child he was still a huge creature, one that was sending out calls for help in the deep blue sea.

As the elder dragon would fly around in the sky, easily avoiding siege weapons as any arrows that hit him did nothing to penetrate his thick scales he would let out loud roars that to rival the Kraken's. However unlike the Kraken who was screaming about pain this was Harold's way of showing that he was enjoying himself, more akin to laughter than a cry of pain or intimidation. I mean can you blame him? This was certainly a change of pace from cooking, and he certainly didn't mind it.
Speaking of Kraken screams, the sound of the beast asking for help turned his attention to the battle below once more. Seeing the mist start to be blown away he started flying lower circling the mist cloud. Using some of his wind magic and just the air current he created by flying he attempted to redirect the mist back over the island, and since he was already this low he used the momentum from the circling to turn around and slam with his entire body weight into some ships peppering the Kraken, taking them with him under the water. The benefit of having scales over feathers it meant that they could get heavier to weight you down.

Opening his eyes underwater he would notice the Kraken, doing his best smile in dragon form he would offer a toothy grin then attempt to speak to him while underwater. "Hello... big guy!"

'Big men, with big muscles, big armor, and a big weapon..... cilché.'

In his nearly eight centuries of life, it seemed that these kinds of tropes just never ceased to die. The minds of the soldiers that surrounded him were all perfectly in sync with one another. Every single one of them believed that if anyone could handle the vampiric threat that stood before them, it was these "Enforcers".

The thoughts of the big boys in armor came through like writing in a children's book. Complete with pictures and renditions to really get the point across. They fancied themselves special.

Important.

Awe-inspiring

Taking them apart would be child's play but Henry had a better idea. What better way to strike fear into their hearts besides slaughtering them gruesomely as he had been? Tearing their rays of hope apart like the wet noodles they truly were.

One enforcer swung his hammer painfully sluggishly, with full intent on splattering the elder vampire into the peanut gallery.

He merely took a step back to avoid the blow and ended that fight right then and there. Henry dove into the defenseless minds of the enforcers and did what he did best.

Dominate.

The psyche of the enforcers was rapidly torn to sunders but the undead psychic did not allow them to scream. He did not allow them to cry out. No. They would suffer in silence for their insolence. For thinking they could approach him with such confidence and fervor as if they stood a chance.

Fools. Nothing but puppets dangling on the strings of their officers. Strings that were viciously severed by the telekinetic and replaced by the iron cord of psychic brainwashing.

An entire rewiring was underway but the only thing the crowd of fearful soldiers saw was the enforcers suddenly falling to their knees and clutching their helmets as if something was hurting their head.

Then their arms fell limp by their sides and they slowly rose to standing position, weapons in tow. The enforcers looked up and at first glance one could tell that the individuals that had once existed were no more. They were mindless thralls now.

Husks.

With one order being the only thing occupying the barren wasteland that was their minds now.

'Kill all the Gloryceans.' Henry's voice echoed in their empty mental chasms. As if the voice of the Gods was giving them a direct order.

And so, they stood to attention at Henry's side, took their weapons in their hands, approached their former comrades, and began raining death upon them.

The first few casualties were so in shock at what was happening, they didnt even put up any defense. It was only after roughly 7 kills that the soldiers were roused out of their stupefied state and rallied some kind of primitive defense which was then also promptly broken by a small, but powerful kinetic wave from the vampire. He would not allow any formations to be made to stop his good little thralls from performing their one calling in life. The one he gave them. Their reward for a job well done would be a merciful death at his hands.

Until then, they could continue sending bodies and limbs soaring into the sky with their massive hammers. Their skin, armor, and weapons soaked in the blood and flesh of those they once called friends.

While Cassiels efforts slowed the knights by disrupting their formations, it seemed impossible to stem the armored tide. For every arrow he launched a dozen returned to strain the protective spells and barriers he'd woven. The new arrivals from the beach were creating havoc as more combatants found their way onto the battlefield adding to the chaos, but for now the elf was forces to retreat to the guild hall.

The doors hung open as if smashed by some giants hand revealing Dura and a more petite figure fending off assailants as a injured John stood tall. Despite the blood running from his shoulder the guild leader would not give an inch, driving back an assailant unarmed despite his condition. Cassiel rushed to join the fight only to find his path barred by a smaller fighter wielding a pair of short swords.

Hardly slowing the elf launched a lance of bright light at his opponent only to watch her duck and close the gap between them in an instant, driving him back with a flurry of blows. Sparks ran along her blades as they lashed out, leaving scorch marks along his armor where he wasn't able to dodge the blows. While Cassiel wasn't able to stop the assault using his knife, a quickly conjured barrier managed to separate him from the assailant. The knight fell into an easy stance once more, patiently waiting for the magic to fade like a cat ready to pounce on its prey.

Cassiel sighed, his pride stung upon being unable to match his opponents skill with the sword. Letting his own knife fall to the ground he concentrated on conjuring a pair of long shards of light. The moment the barrier was dispelled the nimble fighter lunged forward, dodging the first shard with the same ease as before. This time however, Cassiel was ready and the second projectile struck true; knocking one of the knights blades out of her hand as the shard of light pierced her shoulder with a hiss. Despite the wound the glorycean came on, but off balanced by the injury she stumbled right into a fatal blow as the dagger shaft at the elf's feet grew turning the hunting knife into a full length spear.

At least Cassiels opponent passed without much pain as the minor enchantment on his blade took effect. How much blood would they be willing to spill over an old grudge? Having dealt with his opponent the mage turned to assist John but froze when he felt a ripple of powerful, old magic radiat across the battlefield.

It was easy enough for Arleth to go unnoticed as she flanked the enemy army, the cloak she wore silenced every movement she made and breath she took which aided her ability to move swiftly and nearly invisibly through the shadows along the outskirts of the battlefield. The book Cor'va had gifted her was an inspiration concerning her current tactics and she used the knowledge she had gained to aid in her stealth maneuvers, stealing shadows when there were none for her to hide among and remaining inconspicuous until it served her purpose not to be.

There had been no quarter given by the Half-Fae as she methodically disposed of enemies of the Wolf Guild. Each victim was shown no regret nor pity as she targeted any vulnerable point of their armor with well placed punctures. It wasn't because she shared a bloodline with these people, her mother having been from Gloryce originally until she had taken an ill thought of path and gone against societal norms for the kingdom, and thought badly of them -- nor or was it because she felt some duty towards the guilds and the joint effort. It was a job, it was something she was assigned to do and she would carry out the task unflinchingly.

Arleth had used a few different tactics as she assisted in whittling down the Glorycean forces. A well placed illusion could cause a friend to appear as a foe, ending two soldiers at once while nary lifting a finger. Of course there were the moments when she was able to be more hands on, using shadows as puppets to distract the soldiers and causing chaos among them as she slipped between them, the black hood of her cloak masking all of her face except her lips which would reveal an amused smile just before her target's life would slip from them.

Her predilection was to leave no witnesses to her kills, attacking as quickly as she vanished and leaving only bodies in her wake, causing confusion among those that had not seen how their comrades had fallen. The mages that had taken it upon themselves to seek out their foe in darkness would not find their target so easy to detect as she used shadow manipulation and trickery to throw them off her trail.

With the roar of combat surrounding them, it was a simple task to borrow their shadows which she made coalesce at a single point, drawing their attention to what they could only think to be a giant snake. They had already paid witness to a dragon and heard the rumor of the kraken off the shore so it was easy to believe that the Guilds even had made complicit a serpent of such a large size. Of course this wasn't true, and they would have been none the wiser had the snake not lunged at them only to disperse before actually hitting them, though their sudden surprise and dismay was enough to allow Arleth to escape from the vicinity, already plotting out what she would do next to divert their attention.

Once they had left the ship, Tzeentch had taken to the sky as well, though he was quick to move to cover, tracking his mistress down once she had landed. To keep from giving away her location at any given moment, he had followed along through the trees while still staying within eye shot of her. He had even contributed to the battle in his own small way, assisting their comrades as well by knocking a helmet askew so that an attack struck true or collecting a burning stick and dropping it on a mage's robes to catch them on fire and provide a suitable disturbance.

The number of Gloryceans seemed endless and inevitably Arleth knew that the best thing to do would be to join the others at the guild hall, though with the mages still tracking her there was time enough for one last act of deceit. She'd let them catch her, in a manner of speaking.

"Have you not grown tired of chasing me?" the sound of amusement was easily detected in Her voice as it echoed around the mages through the use of illusion, making it difficult to tell which direction the sound was even coming from. Of course Arleth ended that as she gave her position away, dropping down from the branches of a nearby tree with the hood of her cloak now laying bunched over her shoulders allowing for the first time, the Gloryceans to look fully upon the assailant that had been tormenting them since she had joined the battle, "honestly... all of this for one man? Is all of Gloryce so ridiculous that they would send an army for a single Human?" She spoke mockingly with a titter of laughter to her words as with dagger still in one hand she drew one of the swords from the scabbards on her back with the other, giving it a playful twirl before she solidified her grip on it.

Although it was generally seen as the villain's inclination to monologue, and Arleth among others was undoubtedly seen as the villain on the battlefield this day as far as the Gloryceans were concerned, the Half-Fae wouldn't speak more than her simple quip before once again committing to action and leaving little time for the mages to react in any manner. Of course while some of them had been surprised by both her illusion and her sudden appearance, more had not been caught off-guard so easily.

The dagger she held was thrown expertly, striking one of the mages in the shoulder and while he yelped in both surprise and pain, one of his comrades predictably launched a fireball at her. Arleth was however prepared for anything they might throw at her and centered a portion of her energy into igniting her sword as she held it up in front of her to block the attack. The projectile was absorbed into her own magic fire with a flare of light before she clicked her tongue against her teeth and shook her head in a shaming gesture, her motions fluid as she swung the blade back towards the ground, sending a surge of fire towards the rest of the mages.

The brief skirmish was a flurry of fire, energy, and shadow that eventually all ended in blood, none of which belonged to Arleth despite the best efforts of her opponents. She had already wiped off her sword on the robes of the dead mages and replaced it in its scabbard, taking her dagger in hand and observing the blood covered weapon carefully. It had taken on an appearance she hadn't seen before, the circular hollow at the pommel was no longer empty but had begun to fill with red. Her brow raised slightly at the unexpected sight though her examination of the Uldyrlit Ing Kver Felmakia didn't last for very long as it was also cleaned on the robes of a fallen magic user and placed back in its sheathe before she raised her hood securely over her head and disappeared once more into the shadows.

Arleth had taken her time for a while as she toyed with the Glorycean forces, though after the clash with the mages she had grown bored and made her way to the guild hall without laying low any more of the soldiers. She had scaled the building from the shadows in time to see the Enforcers arrive, briefly she crouched with an elbow propped on her knee making a suitable perch for her chin to rest on as she watched them drum up their intimidation factor. Having reached the forefront of the small war, Arleth thought she might finally get a glimpse of this leader the Gloryceans were so determined to defeat, though introductions weren't actually the focus of her thoughts at the moment, especially after witnessing one of the Wolf Guild being struck hard enough by one of these new foes to both break his weapon and send him flying.

Tzeentch fluttered down to settle beside her only to watch her as she made several deft leaps until she touched down beside the Orc, once again drawing her dagger from its sheath before lowering her hood, "perhaps I didn't give you Gloryceans enough credit," she said in a somewhat snarky manner though there was still the subtle tone of amusement in her cool and clear voice. Her luminous eyes didn't turn towards her sudden partner as the female spoke, though she did give a nod of understanding and tightened her grip on her dagger as she changed her stance and prepared to pounce, focusing on the oaf that lumbered towards them.

Once the attacking Enforcer had hit the ground, being brought down by Dura, she leapt into action quite literally. She moved almost too quickly to be seen, her feet planting firmly on the heavy armor that covered the Goliath's back once she landed before her dagger was rammed up beneath the back of his helmet, her aim to pierce the base of the brute's skull right where it met with his spine before she firmly twisted the blade, certain that this would end him as it would end most other Humanoids. The second foe Dura brought to the ground was treated much the same way, her movement from one body to the next made as though practiced, the soles of her boots touching down on his breastplate instead of his back and his helmet kicked fiercely from his head before her dagger was thrust through the exposed underside of his chin and driven all the way through the soft palate of his mouth and into his brain.

Hopefully these tactics were enough to end them, but Arleth sprung away from them and back to Dura, prepared to take on their next enemy once they appeared.

"Think you can keep everything hidden in your valley, your justice does not extend out here with the rest of the world."

"...You're not human, are you?" The black knight hissed as the fallen Gloryceans rose as undead, and against their allies. "No matter. Gloryce did not survive this long without a reason."

The Glorycean leader quickly ducked over your swing with surprising speed and grace before seizing your hair and pulling you down, your face then meeting her armored knee. You were knocked away a bit as the black knightess circled you. "You don't understand us, Raven. Imagine having parents, imagine them loving you, raising you, doting on you, being there when you needed them, teaching you, training you. And then one day, they suddenly left, telling you they made a mistake and you were never their child. All that love, they would say, was false." She said, awaiting your next move. "Would you not attempt to chase after them? Demand an explanation? Demand justice? Whatever the cost?"

"That is how we feel right now, Raven." The leader finished and readied her blade. You saw her armor singed hot by your green flame but she did not let it bother her. "We will have our justice. Anything else would be compromise. And compromise is weakness."

"Didn't think I would get to have that second date. What was it you said when I left your last ship sulking in Catalanias Bay by Gloryce? A chimera was beneath you to sink? Funny coming from a human beneath me. Should've drowned me when you had the chance."

Ragnar paused in his advance. "I think you have mistaken me for someone else."

The barbarian sailor blocked the sword strike but did not see the punch coming. He was sent reeling to the edge of the ship. "You pack a strong punch, but can you match my will?!" Ragnar let out a war cry and charged at you like a savage warrior. His axe was about to swing horizontally and you made ready to respond to it, only for him to cancel his attack and instead go for a strong tackle. You were knocked off your feet and into the wooden floorboards of the vessel.

Ragnar stepped on your torso as he made ready to bring down his war axe upon you.

The Glorycean fleet was beginning to retaliate against Czare but then, the conjured mist had returned and blinding the human ships once more. All thanks to Harold.

But the invading fleet had learned its lesson. Harold and Czare saw a ship near them lit up with fire, the flames spreading quickly throughout the vessel. The Gloryceans were planning to blow up another of their ships to stave off the mist, sacrificing another of theirs just so they could continue the fight.

If the Kraken and the dragon could put it out and continue putting out other attempts, the Glorycean fleet would soon run out of ships and perhaps bring this invasion closer to an end.

The first Enforcer was forced down by Dura with Arleth, going for the kill. Except he did not get killed, no matter how many stabs to the back the Enforcer received. Before Arleth could stab any more, the Enforcer grabbed the half-Fae's arm and pulled her off of him. Meanwhile, the second Enforcer grabbed hold of the chains wrapped around him and prevented Dura from leaving unless she left her kusarigamas.

The first Enforcer, his strength being too much for Arleth to break out of quickly, seized her by the throat and delivered a chokeslam upon the half-Fae. He released his grip on Arleth and raised his iron boot above her, intending to crush her with one powerful stomp. Meanwhile, the second Enforcer continued to immobilize Dura. It became clear that the Enforcer was stalling her to allow the rest of the Glorycean forces to descend unto the Orc. Dura would need to--

"LETS GO HELP OUR GUILD!"

A rallying cry was heard and the Galventians arrived to do battle against the invaders, distracting the Gloryceans from the Wolf Guild momentarily. Even the two Enforcers' attention was caught, a perfect opportunity for Dura and Arleth for a decisive blow.

You took care of the dual-wielding knight. A great, green fire broke out nearby though, and you saw the Raven Guild leader squaring off against a black-armored knight.

That was her fight though, you had to protect the wounded John. The two of you prepared to meet more knights but none came. John was confused and rushed to the windows to see what was happening, you joining him. You saw people of all kinds and colors do battle against the Glorycean army. The Wolf Guild was being relieved by their Galventian host. A news worth of celebration but you saw John horrified at this. "W-What the hell are they doing?! W-Why're they fighting?!" You look back to the battle. The Galventians bravely fought, but so did the Gloryceans. You saw the knights slice and stab and cut through some of the Galventians.

"W-We gotta stop this. We have to end this now." John declared to you. "I won't let people die because of me."

Looking to the Raven Guild leader's duel, John pointed. "There. That black knight, we have to put her down. If we do that, then there's a big chance we can rout the Glorycean army." He said. The Wolf Guild leader began to take steps but the wound on his shoulder flared. "Agh! Gods damn it! Why? Why?!"

The Enforcers under your command and your mighty psychic powers, the battle on your side was effectively won.

You then heard a rallying cry. You thought there would be more of the Gloryceans but no, it was the island's inhabitants, come to repel the invaders. The human army shifted their attention to fight the defenders. Their morale was low and you soon see pockets of the Gloryceans head for their boats in full retreat.

It was time to mop up. You could continue fighting here and assist the islanders, or you could head inside the Wolf Guild to assist there, or head off to the ocean and help deal with the Glorycean fleet. You did hear the Kraken calling for help.

Smoke was still rising from the ragged cuts the knights enchanted blades had etched along his armor and her blood dripped from the tip of his spear. Cassiel didn't relish the feeling of snuffing out a life but harbored no doubt about the necessity of his actions. All around swords where still being swung with murderous intent, the battle having reached its peak. Quickly finding his place next to John the elf braced for the next wave of assailants; unease barley shifting when none came.

From outside it became clear that others had joined the struggle, throwing themselves against the invaders to John's utter horror. “They've made their own choices just as you have.” The elf spoke attempting to calm the guild leader with questionable effect. Despite his own turmoil the wolfs guild master quickly pointed out the leader of the glorycean knights.

The knight was circling her opponent, whose features were bathed in green fire giving her an inhuman appearance. Arcane magic radiated from her like a furnace proving there was something more to her lithe frame than met the eye. It was impressive that the knight not only stood her ground but put up a good fight, spouting her convictions in the face of this elder being. Still he would not be outdone in the halls of his own home and began drawing in the aberrant strings of magic seeping from the heat of the green flames around them.

Without moving from John's side or even uttering a word the elf wove his spell, drawing from the raw power around them. Thin threads of light, like spider silk, formed where the Knights dark armor reflected the flickering fires gradually anchoring her to the many flames about the room. Every move snapped dozens only to have more form immediatley as the light fractured and danced along the polished steel. While the Glorycean was merely slowed, she would most certainly be completely immobilized if things went on for much longer.

You saw her armor singed hot by your green flame but she did not let it bother her. "We will have our justice. Anything else would be compromise. And compromise is weakness."
A loud hiss escaped Calla as her face met armor, blood ran from her nose, possibly broken. She hardly kept herself from baring her fangs at the petty human. Though, immediately the fae made the silvery blood appear red, adding to the illusion sweat began trailing down her face for her human guise. The souls being added to her spell only made her feel more powerful and power hungry. It was hard to hold back, it was weakness to hold ba- "You don't understand anything!" She raised her sword, the Gloryceans falling and adding to her army now fuel by a new unbridled anger.

"An institution isn't a parent, a kingdom does not have children, Children are not property to keep and in which to hold their lives and livelyhood over their heads. An army is for its people, a counsel to serve and protect. Gods to inspire greatness, not to control, not to hide, not to keep in the dirt. You must admit to your mistakes and yet instead you come here to silence some now who's broken free from your iron fist." Her flames died around her and seemed to all shift towards her blade. "Gloryceans survived like cowards. Hiding in your mountains hoping no one would come in to see your perversions or out to speak of the atrocity."

Though no kingdom was innocent.

"The thing about Iron is that it can be melted." Calla struck the knight, her sword melting through the armor and piercing right through the stomach of this woman. The flames burning her from the inside out before she pulled it out, not even a drop of blood gleamed upon it. Looking down at her as she would fall back Calla pointed her sword at the woman, looking very strained for the show.

"If you retreat now I will restore your internal organs before you loose consciousness and die. The Guilds of Kolan will grant you a single mercy if you run back home and leave this man be, as well as anyone else your lousy leaders wish to silence. You have no jurisdiction in Kolan. You have no foothold hear, continue on this quest and soon the Committees and Counsels of Neras will come after Gloryce and all it tries to hide."

Either way, they retreat willingly or these humans will turn back seeing not even their leader could hold up against the guilds. That or the mass of the dead will run them off.

This ends now.

Letting the human take another breath was getting tiresome. Calla forgotten about the magenta glow in her eyes, though seeing now it had turned a green as her spell amassed. "Henry." She allowed psychic message to travel the vampire. "Tell the rest of the guild members to send these humans back where they came from. Their time for a retreat is running out. When the woman on the ground dies, this battle better do the same" It wasn't till now that she had seen the threads of light around the dark knight. Looking over she saw John and the elf. He had the human almost immobilized.

"You, You finish this." Calla stepped back, her flames and Glow dying. "This your fight John. Decide how it ends." She nearly dropped her sword and almost fell back. "I might not be able to keep up this facade of strength any longer. The army I have down there is spreading my magic thin." They could see it now, the strain the strife. The fire might've made her power look fearsome but this was just a human fighting another human. To the ends of her determination.

As it should seem

[div class="Lines2"][/div] [/div]

Henry was a bit preoccupied not losing himself to a blood frenzy and focusing on turning the Gloryceans against each other. While the vampire made it look easy, it was rather difficult to empty out the mind of an individual to turn them into thralls. It was to take everything that made someone sentient... emotions, memories, instincts, aspirations, fears, and will and shred it down to nothing.

By the time he was done, Henry had a small mercenary company's worth of thralls fighting and dying under his command. Dying at the hands of the villagers and townspeople who came to fight the invaders off even though they were fighting the same enemy. The psychic didnt bother trying to correct the civilians troops either. The enthralled Gloryceans were going to die one way or another. Might as well let the common rabble get their proverbial licks in so they can boast to their families for generations to come.

To say that the elder undead was soaked to the bone in the tantalizing crimson liquid would be an understatement. Trying to wipe the blood from his eyes was a futile effort considering his hands were just as bloodied. Not that it was needed. He could see perfectly fine. It was a reflex from his human days all those centuries ago.

Eventually, the Kraken's cry for help did reach his mind, or rather, pierced the hazed veil of bloodlust that he was currently under. He was able to gather himself enough to send a semi-cohesive message to Roland who was near the aquatic beast's location. 'Roland.... Kraken....needs help. Go!" He managed to squeeze through to the shifter before another message made it way to his mind. A message from their guild leader.

Calla seemed to want to wrap this battle up and whether it was instinct or his memory of his little encounter with her, it lightly shook him free of the primal urges that threatened to take his mind over.
'You could end this all immediately if you wanted.' he half-growled.

'ORDERS FROM CALLA ROSE!' His voice boomed in the minds of all Guild members. 'THE ENEMY IS ROUTED AND THEY ARE FALLING BACK! KILL AS MANY AS YOU CAN BEFORE THEY GO! MAKE SURE THEY REMEMBER THIS DAY FOR TILL THE END OF TIME!"

Roland had veered around to avoid the arrows aimed at him and the dragon close to him. He would have tried to communicate properly with the dragon but he wasn't capable of doing that right now. Nevertheless, he couldn't keep his eyes on them without getting hit and so he broke off from where the dragon was heading for the moment - apparently the dragon knows Anahita. Roland does want to know the dragon better - he looked so cool! For the moment, he had descended onto the ship that was ramming against Anahita's ship. He swooped down to kick some guards off of the ship or even just carry them out of the ship and drop them into the sea.

Of course, he remained completely unaware of what was happening with his other guild members. Henry would call out to him if they needed any help on land.

So when Henry's voice resounded in his head, Roland quickly rose up to avoid getting into crossfire. "On it." Apparently, the kraken was still in trouble. With a sharp cry, Roland immediately veered off from the ship he as attacking and turned towards the other ships that were assaulting Czare and the dragon. There was a Glorycean boat on fire and it seems like they want to blow away the wind through an explosion. Roland shifted to his half-form, keeping himself floating in the air and hidden in the mist before creating a large defensive shield around the ship - completely surrounding it. He couldn't do anything to put the fire out but the shield would prevent the blast blowing away the mist or even harming anything close to it.

"You, You finish this. This your fight John. Decide how it ends. I might not be able to keep up this facade of strength any longer. The army I have down there is spreading my magic thin."

John approached as Calla ordered, the sword of a fallen knight in hand. He loomed over the fallen, dying Glorycean leader. "You know, I should thank you. You've shown me that there's no running from Gloryce. No hiding from them. Well, I guess I won't be doing either of those anymore. I'm going to do what I've always should've done; Take a stand." He raised his sword and brought it down.

Midday at the Wolf Guild headquarters. Well, what remained of it anyway. Corpses, Glorycean and Galventian, littered the area around it but only half. The other half have already been cleaned up by the Galventians, the victors of the battle. Much of the dead were Glorycean, though. Both the Galventians and the two guilds made sure that the human nation would think twice before coming back for another round.

The waters in the coast also had dead in it. Wreckages of ships were everywhere, some having washed ashore and some still burning. Unlike the dead in the land, these will be harder to clean up although more rewarding as there could be salvage or even loot within the ruined vessels. The Glorycean fleet could not withstand the assault of the Raven Guild fliers as well as their Kraken. It was not long before they cut their losses and retreated from the Wolf Guild and Kolan as a whole. The loss of their leader did not help things either.

Meanwhile, the small port that the Wolf Guild had was still intact and surprisingly unharmed. There, John had everyone, both Wolf and Raven Guilds, assembled there. A small boat was anchored and within were supplies fit for a long trip as well as John's trusty halberd. The Wolf Guild leader, his wounds patched up and healed, tossed a sack on the boat before addressing the assembled group. "Well guys, here we are. We've survived the wrath of an entire nation and in fact, came out as the victors."

"Raven Guild, I thank you all for coming to our aid. We may be rival guilds but I appreciate- nay, glad that we have each other's backs when the time comes." John told the Raven Guild members. "My only regret is that I have nothing to repay you. Although, I do have something for your leader, of which I will address shortly."

"Wolf Guild, I also thank you for standing with me... even if I had deceived you." John said. "I am sorry. I should not have done that. I should not have done many things. But, thank you. Thank you for being with me when we started this guild... and being with me when it ends." John revealed. "Err, I worded that wrong. What I mean to say is, I cannot remain in the Wolf Guild. We may have given Gloryce what for but they'll be back, they will attack me again and they'll never stop. Perhaps not with another army but something more subtle, an assassin to kill me in the night. Regardless, the fight between me and Gloryce is not over... and I cannot let you be involved in the crossfire."

"Thus, I leave the Wolf Guild to Calla Rose, leader of the Raven Guild. I sincerely hope you understand my decision and I am sure Lady Rose will lead you better than I ever could. Once again, I thank you all."

John then approached Calla for a more private talk. "Well, looks like you win, Calla." He sighed. "I hope you also understand why I'm doing this. Like I said, Gloryce will be back. I didn't see Ragnar among the dead so I'm sure he'll be back too." He then gave a warm smile towards the Raven Guild leader. "Sorry for saddling you with another guild but I'm sure you can do it." John was about to leave but then stopped. "Oh and, I had a crush on you when we first met when we proposed our guilds. Thought you should know." He flashed a mischievous grin. "But then I saw you pretty close with the other guy so I got heartbroken a bit. Hahaha!"

"Farewell, my friends. Perhaps we will met again, perhaps not. But please, pray for me." With that, John embarked the boat and began to sail away. He kept his gaze towards the guilds though, waving at them until he was out of sight. "I almost forgot, Calla! You have a really nice Krakeeeeeen!"

The battle was done, her undead army fell and she stumbled back. The rest of the day she would seem weak and in need of help. She let a few healers believe they did their job correctly before the day would turn. As she stood with John, looking better than yesterday albeit very exhausted, and listened. Her eyes widened as he at his announcement both the public and private ones. "I-well. Good luck on your journey out there sir John, You are always welcome back."As he departed she couldn't help but chuckle as his last words rang out. Their resident translator sending the message to Czare who sent a wave to sped John along on his journey.

Calla let out a breath and turned back to to members. "Well... this has all been.. unexpected and I'm sure many of you are exhausted from our efforts yesterday. Though I ask of you all to persevere. Raven guild, you should all head back to Niniva, The Galventians are assisting in cleaning up the battle field as we speak... though it may just be looting." She gave them all a half smile. "I will stay to help on the bureaucratic ends of things, messages to the committees and all. Though rebuilding will be up to you members of wolf guild, I fear pushing my magic after yesterday's battle. Anahita will take Raven back home, wolf members you can follow me and we can recreate some semblance of a structure. "

As her members leave Calla walked towards the remnants of Wolf Guild Hall. The orc Dura going along with her, the next few days went by putting the guild hall back together. Calla made a journey to the Capitol of Kolan to seek out solutions to Wolf Guilds precarious situation. Lo and Behold the answer flew right in. Almost right into her as well. After greeting and explaining the two came to an agreement and the following even Calla Rose introduced Wolf guild to Jayson Velian, as well as a new applicant that had turned in his papers at just the wrong, or perhaps right time, Jean Beaucant After making sure they was at home and had settled with the Wolf Guild and its improved building Calla headed back to Raven. Most likely to sleep for the next few days.

New Management
JAYSON VELIAN
A long sigh fell from the lips of the feathered veteran as he contemplated what awaited him. Jayson had always been the type of person that couldn't sit still for very long. After the war had ended, he could only endure some "peace and quiet" for a few months before feeling that itch.

This itch was not one of boredom but one of anxiety. Simply put, Jayson was well aware that there was always someone... somewhere that needed help. He joined the war to help the soldiers on the frontline rather than to defeat the enemy. He quickly realized that helping and saving others was essentially his life's calling.

So, when the war ended and the peaceful years came, Jayson didn't know what to do with himself. That was until the prospect of guilds began resurfacing. It was a rather foreign concept at first but as time passed, he began to realize the potential good the guilds could truly serve.

Thus, the feathered chimera came to a decision. He wanted to create one of his own guilds to give help to those in need.

Little did he know the opportunity would literally fall in his lap. Though not in the way he had initially planned.

The blind man stared blankly into the mirror before him in his new "guildmaster quarters". Rather than creating a new guild from scratch he had ended up succeeding one whose Guildmaster had only just recently retired for personal reasons. Jayson had to admit that his curiosity was piqued by that but ultimately his respect for privacy won out and he didn't inquire about it.

Now, it was just a matter of introducing himself to the members of Wolf Guild as their brand new Guildmaster whom they have never seen before.

No pressure.

Another sigh parted ways with his lungs as he turned to get dressed for the responsibilities of his new job. Jayson dressed formally in elegant white robes embroidered with black silk along trim in intricate vine-like patterns. It looked presentable and gave him the space needed for his wings without looking like someone slashed his clothes with a hatchet to make room for those large, feathered appendages. Not to mention the color scheme complimented his overall complexion, his hair, and monochrome wings.

Finally, he added the last piece to his outfit. Which is to wrap a long ribbon of white cloth around his head at eye level. The scars he had there are particularly nasty and it is something of a distraction during conversations when people arent used to it.

..........

"Greetings, ladies and gentlemen of the Wolf Guid. My name is Jayson Velian and I was hired on to take up the mantle of the previous Guildmaster." he declared with a deep bow and clear voice.

Jayson had gathered everyone together in the guild hall to do a formal introduction and to officially resume guild business. It was obvious to anyone that the winged man was blind, as he didnt bother to hide it but he moved with a grace and confidence that it could people doubt.

"From my understanding, he left for personal reasons. I was also told he was a great leader and an even greater man. I cannot replace him but I will do my best to live up to the hard work and dedication that he started this guild with. I hope everyone can assist me in achieving that goal."

The chimera then smiles, claps his hands together, and folds them behind his back. "With that said, we are officially taking quests again and we have more than enough for everyone. Please, come to me once you have decided your party and what mission you wish to undertake. I wish you all luck in your future endeavors."

Dura wasn't sure about this Jayson character. Miss Rose seemed confident in him during the rebuild but still. The Orc was, well to put it simply wasn't confident in a blind man taking over. He moved as though it didn't seem to be a hindrance to him. She'll give him a chance. Must be a reason he was put in charge then. It was still.. just not right! Perhaps her ways in Orsinium and he earth territories were creeping up on her. This guild was a chance to open her mind like the days she turned to medical practice.

"I'll be taking this Crazytown quest if any one else like to join me? A good challenge after all this lounging around and building." Seriously her alchemy skills in the rebuild could've been given to a novice. It was time to get to some hard work, no flighty actresses or feeble hoard of goblins and vampire children. By the Oni of this leader came along perhaps she'd get to see him in action, or better a team up with the Dreac! Surely Fenris was a little sick of being her questing buddy by now, it was time to get to know their other members but then again why mess with a good team?

[div class="Lines2"][/div] [/div]

Things were quiet in the guild for the most part. Well, not really. There was an uproar about a battle of some sort.

Jean could not care less.

There was a fuss about refusing to give up the previous Wolf Guildmaster, yet in the end he stepped down unceremoniously anyways. Why not just have given him up in the first place? It would have avoided a needless conflict. Oh well, it was no skin off of his back. The knight was not the type of person to stick his neck out for anyone other than himself.

Jean sat alone as he listened to the newly christened Guildmaster speak. His name was Jayson Velian, and he was a blind winged man. If Jean had to guess, he would assume that the man had been blind for the entirety of his life. Why? Because he moved as if he wasn't blind at all. It was astonishing to say the least.

But anything beyond that did not interest him. To Jean, this blind chimera was his guildmaster in name only. There was only person Jean answered to, and that was himself.

However, there was something that did pique his interest.

An Orc called out to the rest of her guildmates to tackle the Crazytown Quest. Jean did not care about the details of the quest, he was more interested in seeing the monstrosity of an Orc in action. He knew very little of his "guildmates," a term that he would use very loosely. At least he could use the opportunity to do some reconnaissance so to speak. One would never know when such information would come in handy.

Jean approached the Orc with a smirk etched on his face. It was cocky and sure, but also somewhat sinister. It was as if he was attempting to be friendly, yet could not even muster the etiquette to fully embrace the gesture.

"A big one like you would need my help," Jean said as he patted her back. "Let me be the brains, and you can be the brawn. How does that sound?" He asked in a condescending manner.

Dura looked at this human. Barely hiding the stench on him and extruding from his smirk. Oh she knew the look. From every single asshole who saw green an though hey this being can't possible be well, a being or a person at all. Her lips cracked into a wide grin though anyone that knew her would see a gleam in her eye screaming murder. Her hand pat Jean's back hard enough to bruise but all that came from her lips was a hearty laugh. "Oh that's a good one. Really had me going." Her hand patted his shoulder hard a few times before resting on it with a death grip. "I'll remember my brawn when sewing up your delicate human skin and putting you limb back onto your body. Or better when making my various alchemical concoctions that could very well be useful." She smiled so brightly. "Let's get this rookie on a quest huh? M'kultra will be a great start for some one as smart as you huh? We're going to get along so well!" She let him go from his grip. "It'll be fun. Who else wants to join us?" she opened it up to the other members.

[div class="Lines2"][/div] [/div]

It was his first official day on the job and already there seemed to be some tempers flaring. Internally, the pseudo-angel huffed a great sigh at the threats veiled with pleasantries. Externally, the man merely quirked an eyebrow at the exchange but since he had the silk wrapping around his eyes and head, no one actually saw it. One may have been able to tell what he was feeling by the uncomfortable smile that was now plastered on his face.

Jayson would normally just leave the problem alone and keep a close eye on the situation so it doesnt escalate further. However, in this case, it would probably be unwise to allow the guild members to start rubbing each other the wrong way on the first day. It was just a matter of figuring out how to solve the issue without causing a scene.... well.... a bigger scene.

It was only several breaths before Velian came to a rather decent conclusion. He would simply join them on their quest. It was obvious that none of the other guild members were particularly raring to go questing on the first day other than these folk. So, chances were that his presence wasn't going to be immediately needed. Not to mention he also wanted to see what this rambunctious lot was capable of.

In a way, the way they were acting reminded him of the military and mingling with the other soldiers back when the gift of sight hadn't been stripped away from him yet. So, he found himself joining in on the banter in a very similar fashion as he did back then, "Now, now. If things go well, you may not have to stitch anyone back together. My recovery magics should be more than enough to keep everyone alive and your alchemical talents can be used to debilitate the enemy instead."

Jayson had been across the guild hall by the podium when the conversation between the human Male and orc female had occurred. So, not only had the winged man moved deceptively quickly to intervene if necessary but he heard their conversation over the idle chatter and ambient noise of the guild personnel from across the hall.

The reconstruction had gone smooth, aided not only by guild members but also the numerous residents of Kolan. The few remaining scorch marks and blemishes adorning the halls were borne like proud battle scars; evidence the guild had survived an assault by the Glorycean Fleet. Still Cassiel mourned the losses his treasured, and once well stocked, library had suffered. Pushing the long list of desired purchases to the back of his mind the elf committed his full attention to the newly appointed guild leaders speech.

Like most members Cassiel had decided to browse the requests before returning to his own personal project of restoring the guild library and maintaining its records. He had just picked up the request titled 'Muscial Proposition' when Dura's voice reached him. In the past he had found it surprisingly easy to work alongside the Orc and wasn't opposed to keeping their streak of success alive. As he looked up another member had already seized the opportunity, the blond youth managing to elicit a hearty laugh from Dura. One hardly needed sharpened senses to detect the tension behind the jovial display. In fact, it seemed the guildmaster had taken note of the exchange as well; drifting over in a graceful manner that belied his lack of sight.

“You're train of thought is commendable and having another helping hand could prove invaluable should things not go as well as hoped. So I'd like to offer my assistance as well.” The elf spoke, approaching the quickly growing group. “Besides a bit of traveling will be helpful in rebuilding our collection of tomes.”

Kolan was warm. The south was warm. But manageable. Rhasa stood, shoulders square, Shieldbreaker slung across the broad of his back, before the Guild Hall of Wolves. He’d heard tales of these wolves. Their prowess was said to be legendary. They few had held back the might of an armada. Rhasa wished to appraise that prowess. To test their mettle. To join their ranks, if he found truth where he sought it.

The air felt close, pressed in around him. Sweat beaded the brow beneath his helm. He was at their door, now. Everywhere he looked, an emblazoned wolf snarled back at him. He breathed deeply. Blood. The taste of it on the air. His nostrils stung with it. A battle had been fought here. Fought, and hard won. Rhasa pressed the flat of his hand against the doors. They gave easily. He shouldered his way inside, throwing them open with the force of his entrance.

Before him laid the guild hall. Rhasa noted its high ceilings. Good. He wouldn’t get Shieldbreaker caught on any rafters, accidentally bringing the roof down on top of him. He unslung the blade from his back, lifted it high, then let the tip of it fall with a crash. The floor splintered beneath it.

“Warriors!” Rhasa called. “Wolves! Where is your Alpha?” He hefted Shieldbreaker again, dislodging it from the crater it had opened in the floor. He let the back of the blade rest along his shoulder blades. “I have traveled a long way, bid by the stories. Your stories. My journey ends here.” He paced as he spoke, his voice echoing across the vast, cavernous hall. He leered out from his helm, meeting as many eyes as he could find. This was a challenge. He would not be ignored. He would not be denied.

”I say again, show me the one you follow. The one who leads you.” He swung Shieldbreaker around the room, leveling the tip at anyone who’d meet it. At last, he bellowed, ”SHOW ME!”

Things.... were really not going well on the first day.

Just as the feathered guild leader thought to go on a quest to assist his members because "People aren't going to need me on the first day." He was not only Needed but specifically called out.

Jayson had heard the giant of man pacing about outside the guild halls. Normally, his hearing wasn't that good but it wasn't as if the man was trying to be quiet.... or even normal for that matter. His every breath was deep and carried an impressive amount of weight behind it. It reminded him of a pissed off bull waiting for the cage to open.

However, when the doors flung open and Rhasa bellowed out the call for the "Alpha", Jayson couldn't suppress the sigh that came up. He had his back turned away from the entrance and only managed to turn around before the wooden floors splintered under the weight of the man's weapon. "We...just had that fixed..." the man half-groaned, half-whimpered.

Rhasa let out a large bellow demanding the leader to show himself and Jayson's hand flew up face, pinching the bridge of his nose. The chimera's feathers literally ruffled in irritation. These types were always a handful to deal with. With another harsh sigh, the guild leader straightened his back, turned on his heel, and walked slowly and methodically towards the large beast of a man at the entrance.

Velian's wings unfurled to their full length, nearly taking up the entire walking space in a stretch before folding against his back once more. He then folded his hands behind his back and stopped just outside of Shieldbreaker's reach. A thin smile graced the guild master's beautiful, porcelaine-like features and he gave the barbarian a short bow in greeting. "Greetings traveler." His soft voice declared, loud enough to be projected through the halls. "I know not where you come from but please do understand that here in Kolan, we do not announce ourselves by yelling at people, brandishing weapons at them, and breaking the floor that was just recently repaired." He stated with a healthy amount of contempt before returning to his warm, friendly tone. "I'm the guildmaster here. What business do you have with me and my guild that you find it appropriate to smash our floors and threaten my members."

Rhasa’s eyes found the blind-folded Chimera. Beneath his helm, they narrowed. Appraisingly, they followed the arc of his wing as it spread and retracted. Rhasa was silent as the other man spoke. He was listening. The set of his shoulders suggested he was at ease. When Jayson finished, Rhasa remained silent. Then he removed his helm. He let it fall with a clatter to the guild hall floor.

His hair was matted and streaked with sweat. Slowly, he lowered Shieldbreaker, ‘til the tip of its blade rested on the wood, this time without breaking it. The blade was nearly man-sized, and from the looks of it, solid from pommel to blade. Yet, Rhasa wielded it as though it weighed little. His grip was loose, but sure. He was looking the Winged Guildmaster in the eye. Rather, where he estimated the man’s eyes to be, beneath his blindfold.

” You are... Not what I expected.” Rhasa said, finally, thinking out loud. His eyebrow was nearly cocked. What had he expected? A mirror, perhaps. In any event, he had come here for a purpose. ”Forgive me.” He said in a low voice that spoke not of deceit. The Rhasa from earlier looked nothing at all like the one who stood before them all now.

”For your floor.” He added. He was no carpenter. Nor did he have an appreciation for the cost of their labor. But he understood that he’d offended, and that was enough. ”You can take the cost out of my earnings.” Rhasa said. Simply. Factually. As if the proceedings that were to follow were a foregone conclusion.

”My name is Rhasa. My business here is with you. And your Wolves.” Rhasa jerked his chin to the others present. His eyes, however, were locked. Focused. ”I have traveled a long way to pledge my sword. To join your ranks, if you will have me. But first...” His shoulders suddenly tense, Rhasa released his grip on Shieldbreaker. The sound of its fall rattled across the hall. Stepping forward, leaving his fallen sword and helm behind him, Rhasa drew himself up, his whole form a coiled spring, tense with anticipation.

”Let us fight.”
