A crackling voice comes over the police radio, "Who is this? State your name."
Selene responds, "Ah, sorry, I've also been injured, the blood loss is getting to my head. My name is Selene Luna."
The radio is silent for a moment, "There is a unit on the way to your location. Stay where you are."
Selene nods, "Of course, I wouldn't want to leave Officer Sizemore alone here with an armed assailant. Thank you for the aid, dispatch! You've been a dear."
Erik runs toward Jane while Robert is running toward the door on a collision course. He looks over his shoulder to see if Marrok is chasing. Erik isn't feeling this whole "running with no mass" thing and stumbles: Trying to avoid him, Erik trips forward and falls INTO the floor, ending waist deep in concrete and still in ghostly form.
The lady is momentarily stunned from Marrok biting her with the locket, so she drifts back a little as he runs past her charge Robert. She regains herself and looks toward the only person left in her field of view, Erin.
Erin squats down and picks up the pendant in her left hand which Marrok dropped, wincing when she hears the shotgun blast only moments later. In that time, however, she's started casting "Hold Monster" upon the ghost that's caused so much trouble. She wraps the necklace around the ghost's neck and grabs it firmly, freezing her in place.
"You know, you're kind of a pain in the ass."
Erin's spell goes off perfectly. The Crooked Lady is frozen in place, mouth wide open, but the scream ceases. The lady's eyes bore into Erin with pain and fury. Robert stops running and turns back around toward Erin.
"No." He says with a tremor in his voice. "No."
Robert starts walking slowly toward Erin and the Crooked Lady. "What did you do? She stayed this time." He reaches out a hand and strokes his wife's cheek. "Brenda, are you in there?" He reaches down and touches the locket, then looks at Erin. "What did you do?" He raises the shotgun to Erin's chest and pulls the trigger.
Nothing happens.
Marrok jumps forward, deciding quickly between attacking Robert or his dead wife. He knows that Robert was just trying to kill someone he cares about, so he thought that helping to rid the world of someone Robert cares about might be the best revenge. He sinks his teeth deep into the mostly solid body of the crooked lady and shakes his head to do as much damage as he could.
Erin grabs onto the Crooked Lady's neck as Marrok savages her and, ignoring Robert completely, rapidly chants "magic missile magic missile" as if she's invented a new tongue twister. The cauterized holes appear to have assisted the passage of the spirit to her eternal home.
Erik squirms around unimpressively trying to escape the floor, calling out helpful things and trying to levitate and use magic like ghosts are supposed to.
With the final magic missile the Crooked Lady crumples to the ground. Here body now free of Erin's magic binding, but also from the magic that held her to this place. Her dark grey skin starts to pale and redden. Thin strands of green energy run across her skin. The light from these threads of magic reach a near blinding intensity. The once bent form straightens and becomes whole as an unseen force raises Brenda's form in the air. The locket restored to a polished gold dangles from her neck. Brenda's face is peaceful as she slowly becomes less and less visible in the blinding light. Then in a flash there is nothing but a locket clinking to the concrete floor.
The team stands in circle rubbing their eyes to clear the light. In the place where the lady once was now there is just a locket and the shuddering, crying form of Robert.
For a moment there is stillness and quiet.
Then the room lights of with red and blue lights and the silence is broken by a voice amplified by a tinny speaker, "The building is surrounded. Come out with your hands up."
