Name: Haruki Furukawa
Gender: Non-binary
Age: 16
Grade: 11
Grade Average: Bs and low As
Status: Popular (but not as popular as the Popular Student)
Overview: Was an ordinary student when first starting high school. Not an outcast, but not popular either. Has been bullied in the past for being non-binary among other things, but they get protection from their boy/girlfriend (the popular student). When they started dating the popular student, they suddenly became popular as well. They aren’t as attached to the popular student as they let on though, and has a small secret crush on Saki. Should this secret get out, it would probably destroy their reputation, so they do an extra good job of hiding it
Extra: They are the club president for the Drama Club.

Overall mental stability: 8/10
Likelihood of hurting/killing self: At first its a very low chance. Depending on how the events go it could change to a higher likelihood (such as if their crush on Saki comes to light)
Likelihood of killing/hurting others: They wouldn’t hurt a fly
Aggression: Again, it’ll depend, starting out very low

Lacey Nagai

x9GQucT.jpg

Gender: Female
Age: 17
Grade: 11
Grade average: B+, 87%
Status: Popular Girl, Rich Kid, Sneaky Lying Alpha B💙tch

Personality:
Lacey has a smiley mask that she puts on when dealing with most people. She’s often described and bubbly, fun-loving, caring and confident... which is exactly what she wants you to think.

On the inside she’s not quite so virtuous, at her core she's become a vindictive worrywart who has her own interests always at the forefront of her mind. Lacey has a need to be loved by as many people as possible- a need. She craves attention and affection more than a starving person craves food. It is a need that fuels both her ego as well as her paranoia and it is a need that is only fulfilled by her hundreds of ‘friends’ at school. Unfortunately for some others, this need means she does not take kindly to people disliking her and she will try everything she can to turn everyone against said person. Lacey is very crafty and doesn’t have a very empathetic moral compass: she's fond of getting close to people, earning their trust and then using her platform to subtly plant their darkest secrets as seeds in the minds of as many people as possible and slowly ruin their reputation through the damning rumours that bloom from the whole ordeal- all while keeping her own hands squeaky clean.

It should be noted that Lacey has a bit of a temper and isn’t afraid to get into a verbal (or even a physical) scrap, but usually won’t do so unless she can goad the other person into (allegedly) starting it and give herself to the opportunity to cry victim about it later. Also she is quite an envious person, just as obsessed with possessions and bragging rights as she is with her status.

Background:
Lacey was born to two people who had little more interest in each other beyond the one night stand that they’d had- in fact the only reason she was even born was because her young mother couldn’t afford an abortion and her own parents refused to support her. Lacey grew up in poor, cramped living conditions, she was always changing neighbourhoods and schools and, as such, Lacey could never really make any friends. It only really got worse as time went on, she struggled more academically and socially once her two younger siblings (from two different men) came into her life and she was forced to look after them while her mother was out working.

The start of seventh grade was when her mother got into contact with Lacey’s biological father. Turns out he was this CEO of some giant tech company and couldn’t afford to have a scandal on his hands. Lacey’s mother was paid ridiculous amounts of hush money and, just like that, everything changed. The small, run down apartments the family would jump around between became an extravagant party pad of a home, schooling was set to be steady and the air was just a little easier to breathe. Lacey’s mother became even less involved with her children’s lives, she went from spending most nights working to spending most nights partying. Lacey herself was given massive amounts of money by her mother to essentially act as guardian to her little sisters, which she initially spent exactly like her mother did- resulting in her neglecting her studies and being held back for seventh grade. That’s when she met Saki.

Initially picked on for being held back, even at home, Lacey ended up bonding with Saki over their shared mistreatment. Lacey buckled down for a while, cut down her excessive spending habits and got her grades together. Her peers stopped poking fun at her once she started actually beating a good chunk of them. Revenge was sweet.

It wasn't really until the start of ninth grade that Lacey started to become who she is today. Connections to many people now in high school really helped her hit it off with the more wild and popular crowd; good grades meant she fit into the bookish crowd too; boys were always going to like a sweet girl with big blue eyes and there wasn't anyone who wasn't attracted to money. It felt good to be liked by so many different people.

It felt really good.

About halfway through tenth grade, Lacey had done a little more than just left Saki behind. She'd rationalized that she valued the company of many people over just the company of one and that she couldn't continue to become more well liked and more popular if she continued being friends with Saki. She completely dissociated herself from the increasingly antisocial Saki and made up rumours to worsen Saki's already poor reputation in an attempt to wash her hands completely from the friendship- and to top it all of she started dating Saki's crush just because the whole situation was all a little too tempting for her avaricious mind to resist. By the end of it all, Lacey was pretty much the most popular girl in the grade and she knew it. She knew it and she fucking loved it. She loved being able to do whatever she wanted; she loved being a voice people listened to; she loved watching people fall from grace... and she loved pushing them down.

Extra character info; musical ocs

Sometimes I create characters based on a song, or use a song as their backstory, etc. Saki Akare is one of those characters and is actually a combination of two Japanese songs; Deep-sea City Underground (you'll need to turn captions on for this one) and Bacterial Contamination.

Shinkai City Underground, AKA Deep-sea City Underground, represents Saki's insanity and dissociation. This will be pretty obvious by the video.

Saikin Osen, AKA Bacterial Contamination, is the one her story was based on. The entire song is a metaphor that represents the bullying, the depression, the desire to get better, etc. The "bacterial contamination" is actually the bullying that's happening, hence the "I am the target" and "I want to infect someone else" lines.

Name: Yume Ikusaba

Gender: Female

Age: 16

Grade: 11

Grade Average: Straight As

Status: School bully, in the popular group/clique but not as popular as Lacey or Haruki

Overview: Yume came from an average family. Not too rich and not too poor. Despite having mediocre finances, she had most everything she wanted as a child and teenager. Her parents spoiled her. Rumor has it they’re in debt because they bought her things they couldn’t afford. She gained popularity through Haruki gaining popularity through Lacey. She is considered to be pretty good friends with Haruki and on good terms with Lacey as well, but without this ladder she climbed, she probably wouldn’t be as popular (but she wouldn’t be a loner either). She considers herself to be above most, and, while she keeps up an appearance of doing nothing more than teasing or the occasional cat fight, she is not afraid to get her hands dirty with blackmail, manipulation, bribery, etc.

Overall mental stability: 9/10

Likelihood of hurting/killing self: Pretty low chance

Likelihood of killing/hurting others: Killing, no chance. Hurting, pretty decent chance.

Aggression: 8-9 normally

Note: I hope this looks good, I sort of rushed this one. I can change anything needed.

Name: Kiyomi Fuji
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Grade: 11
Grade average: B or ~85%
Status: Semi-popular, rebel
Character overview: Popular among the 'rebels' and 'outcasts' niche. Came from strict parents who have sort of given up at this point. Does whatever she wants and gets in trouble a lot, but still manages to have decent grades. Doesn't hate Saki, but also doesn't really try to stand up for her, and might even join in on the bullying from time to time.

Overall mental stability: 8
Likelihood of hurting/killing self: 1
Likelihood of hurting/killing another person: Killing, low. Hurting, high.
Aggression: Usually a 6 or 7

Hiroki Iwashita

7B8A7737-338C-4197-B750-25993B54A023.jpeg

Gender: Male
Age: 16
Grade: 11
Grade average: D, 60%
Status: Semi-Popular, Nice Guy, Wild Child

Personality:
An energetic boy with equally large amounts of both folly and jolly in his heart. Hiroki’s a simple-minded, stand-up guy that is nice to just about everybody he meets. He isn’t the smartest person, academically or socially, and he knows it. While that fact does kind of get him down if he thinks about it too much, he is both easily distracted and optimistic- key traits in his ability to be an uplifting force to those around him.

Hiroki is very social, he enjoys the company of lots of people and likes to make others laugh- and he’s totally okay whether that laughing is either with him or at him. He’s very daring and a bit of an adrenaline junkie: there are many stories and videos of insane chuggs; breaking walls and funny drunken monologues all being done by Hiroki.

Though his daring personality sometimes means he ends up doing things that are illegal (like driving way over the speed limit without a license, which is double illegal) and he’s normally a happy-go-lucky guy, there is one surefire way to get on his bad side: he tends to get very worked up when he sees purely heinous acts like bullying. Being the type to act first and ask questions later, he’s got a reputation for helping out victims... by escalating the situation and putting the focus of the attacker on himself instead.

Background:
Hiroki comes from a large family with five kids in total. All picking up and furthering their morals and wild personalities from each other, Hiroki is the youngest and arguably the wildest of the bunch. His parents weren’t working at the best jobs and his household wasn’t a particularly rich one but he didn’t really mind, nor did he even realise it until he started seeing other peoples’ larger houses and nicer things.

His boisterous personality and proficiency for basketball (in spite of his shorter than average height) makes him naturally fit in with the jocks and kind of popular with the more confident girls- and although he’s normally friend zoned he has shot his shot many times and will continue to do so shamelessly.

He’s taken a particular shining to Haruki over the years for a few reasons: he’s part of the drama club; he’s ‘helped’ him out in the past with bullying incidents and Haruki was one of the first people he spoke to when he got into high school- which he did because their first names were pretty similar and that was funny to him.

Lacey likes to keep him close, they don’t have much in common and he thinks it’s cause she’s just trying to be nice to a friend of her partner- she’s just a really nice person afterall.

He’s aware of who Saki is and knows she gets harassed a lot- which he’s not a fan of. He’s spoken to her a few times, though not enough time to really know her well, and they obviously don’t run in very similar circles so interaction is limited- he feels pretty bad for her anytime he thinks about what he’s heard though.
