Growing up an only child on the affluent Green World of Bekensten, Rene was an accomplished pupil and star athlete. However, unlike many of her peers, Rene was not raised in wealth and has carried a chip on her shoulder well into adulthood.

The first in her family to graduate college, Rene enrolled in the Coalition Navy's Officer Candidate School. Never an idealist, Rene still enjoyed the idea of fighting against the evils of humanity while pushing forward to the farthest reaches of the Galaxy. Following in her Father's footsteps, Rene enlisted in the Marines with the intention of serving a short stretch and then moving on with skills gained from her time with the military and her degree.

Rene was assigned to the notoriously tough 103rd Marine Division as a 2nd Lieutenant and proved to be a capable young Officer, rising steadily through the ranks, displaying a mature competency, willingness to learn and good leadership abilities, although with a notably quick temper when wronged. Rene saw combat fighting pirates and Mercenary groups in the Kesling Verge and was awarded the Bronze Star for saving her squad from an ambush by a group of slavers who had recently attacked a colony on Terra Una.

Rene's rise through the ranks was often stunted by her temper and frequent clashes with less capable senior officer's who achieved rank through political manouvering rather than merit.

Nevertheless, at thirty eight years old Rene had reached the rank of Major and seemed destined to see out her entire career in the Navy until her sudden discharge six months before the start of the expedition.

Flaws:
Rene is supremely confident, perhaps overly so. Whilst talented and capable, she has a habit of being headstrong and is often quick to dive into situations if the only danger presented is to herself . Although usually patient in a tactical sense, Rene would also be the first to admit that she is too quick to anger when the right buttons are pushed.

PERSONALITY

Myn realizes the world he inhibits requires someone with a sharp mind, smart mouth and a quick gun; depending on the situation. Many people may find his attitude to be flippant and dismissive, although to judge him solely on
these attributes alone would not give someone the true measure of the man.

Although operating on the fringes of legal society Myn has a degree of honour and places loyalty and friendship as vital virtues



BIOGRAPHY

Born as the second of four children on a small city on Ardar, Myn had a largely positive upbringing. His parents while by no means affluent, were able to support a stable and loving household where arguments and fights were at a premium. As a child Othic proved to be a poor student, much to the frustration of many former teachers who recognised the young man had aptitude and intelligence but very little drive or application to study. He left at school at sixteen with a number of basic leaver qualifications and would admit he should have achieved more academically.

His decision to join the Navy at eighteen was fuelled by pragmatism more than any sense of duty. After working odd jobs for the previous two years and feeling his frustration at the lack of opportunities available to him growing, he enlisted in the Marines a month after his 18th Birthday.

Bootcamp proved to be a tough experience and while Othic didn't excel he by no means shamed himself. He was never the biggest, or fastest or strongest but his doggedness could never be disputed, nor could his determination. He enjoyed the discipline and camaraderie but would quickly grow to hate the 'chickenshit' attitude that some of his superiors developed. While he realised beasting was part and parcel of military training, he found himself in trouble on more than one occasion for verbal barbs directed at more senior marine colleagues when their petty behaviour pushed beyond an acceptable limit.

Following graduation from bootcamp Othic was assigned to the 10th Frontier Marine Division. His first four years as a Marine involved no large scale battles but Othic bloodied himself sufficiently fighting against pirates and slavers at the furthest reaches of civilised space.

By the time his final Tour of Duty came to pass, Othic was a battle hardened soldier, rougher around the edges than the fresh faced eighteen year old who had enlisted and a damn sight tougher. Friends had been lost, drinks had been sunk and songs sung in the memory of those who had fallen. Othic had made some of the strongest bonds with people he had nothing in common with, save for their shared Marine heritage and he had seen some of the most horrific sites imaginable.

He was not without connections and his unemployment did not last long but he has struggled to settle. In the years since the Marines, Othic has worked as a Bodyguard, Tracker, Guide, Scavenger and Mercenary.

Personality: Dorian is a rather carefree fellow. At least during downtime. When it's boots on the ground, has little time or patience for people playing grab-ass. A hardened Veteran of several tours on what folk call deathworlds, he's developed a sort of non-feeling remorseless tick when forced to kill. But know this, if you are under his charge, you best know he's gonna look out for ya. Even if it means having to kick your teeth in to get his point across. When in a safe zone such as the ship or camp, he can be a rather chill guy that will tell you how it is. He has a penchant for securing toxins and other deadly shit that he's faced on the deathworlds and likes to incorporate them in his arsenal.

Bio: Dorian was born in the outer colonies to a patriotic and militant family. This in turn influenced him to follow in his parents footsteps in service to the Coalition. When he was 17 he joined the Army, where he quickly distinguished himself as a soldier, earning high marks in almost every field. This impressed his company commander so much, they sent him to ranger school, where they would forge him into an even deadlier weapon.

For the next 10 years he served, fighting on worlds deemed too deadly for proper colonization but too precious to not mine and collect their rich and sometimes unique resources. It took a whole different type of soldier to fight and not only survive these "Deathworlds", but thrive. Some of his buddies even gained permission to set up small settlements on these worlds to help train the next generation of Ranger. Even Dorian thought of doing so, until he was passed along word of an expedition to the old homeworld.

How could he say no to such a prospect as to survive on the most hellish of planets?



Skills: Dorian is always in the alert, even in his sleep, his eyes remain open watching for hostiles, even in friendly territory. A master in jungle, Arctic, urban, and wasteland warfare, Dorian can make just about anyplace his home. Trained in marksmanship, hand to hand, CQC, Demolitions and chemical warfare, if there's a way to kill someone or something, he'll find it. As stated above, he is at home in any environment, and if he doesn't want to be found, good luck trying to. He is able to adapt to the battlefield, and take on a more primal, savage side only rangers like him can to not only survive, but thrive.

  • Talon: A custom forged combat knife, the alloy of the blade has been infused with Erudium crystal, making the edge not only sharp, but toxic.
  • Superweight Environmental Exo-class Recon Armour: Made up of a composite material, the armour is light despite it being called heavy armor. The suit is hermetically sealed to allow for maximum survivability in hostile environments. The helmet has a built in heads up display, and top notch air filtration systems, personal comms unit, along with 90 minutes of air if submerged or in a exospheric environment.
  • Survival kit: Rations, flares, ammo, first aid, water filtration system, and radio equipment for long range communication.

Standing for helmet integrated pulse, a HIP system works much like a bat’s vision. A pulse is emitted from sensors on the sides of a helmet, which then bounce back when coming into contact with the local environment. These signals are translated into a visual layout that can be viewed using goggles with HUD capabilities. It’s as simple as pairing them with the helmet’s system. Of course, organized militaries usually opt for wiring standard NVGs into the helmet for more reliability. Baxter has both NVGs and HUD goggles to connect.

Heat, cold, stress and electromagnetic resistant, the materials used are a secret blend researched by William himself. Personality:
William is a bright man, considered a genius amongst his peers. He is in reality more humble than his fame gives him credit for and often deflects praise in favour of changing the subject. Despite this, he is justifiably proud of his designs and will still become quite offended by those who baselessly criticise his work. Eccentric in his avarice for adventure and discovery, William's thirst for exploring the beyond has not waned in his active years of expedition and he is still more than willing to dive head-first into the next exploratory vessel. His excitement often escapes out in the form of feverish mumbling, usually triggered by the recovery of previously unknown materials or components - especially of alien origin.

William is also somewhat of a romantic and finds creative outlets such as poetry and music rather agreeable. No longer single and ready to mingle, the physicists heart already belongs to another and so while he may be flattered by advances, he is not on the market for romance. William is not really one for violence himself, but is not afraid to do what he must if the situation calls for it. Far from ruthless, he is very compassionate and never fails to empathise or sympathise with those struggling with internal issues.

Biography:
William Beckett Hawthorne. Youngest graduating student of his class at age 17, William set out in the field of professional science to engrave his mark on history. A promising physicist from New New Oxford University with a bright future, his first leaps out of obscurity came through his pioneering inventions in the field of robotics. Patent after patent was registered in the name of Hawthorne and it did not take long for his profits to follow shortly after. Hailed a genius of his craft, many star companies sought his components for their rare quality and reliability.

'A pioneer knows no boundary. Be it science or the stars, man shall reveal the truth behind all!'

Revelling in his newfound riches, William forged on in his journey to achieve legacy. Expedition after expedition led him across the stars in search of adventure. Years were spent aboard the decks of spacecraft filled with promising crews seeking many things. Wealth, knowledge, glory, experience; William saw many merry men and women ferry the vast void. It was on one of his star-bound escapades where he met the love of his life, like a fever dream amongst the glittering lights did he fall for she. A lifetime of wondrous adventure and exotic sights crammed into the short decade he had spent with feet planted firmly on a steel hull.

Still young and much in his prime, William Beckett Hawthorne at the bashful age of 27 now sits atop the hoard of a comfortable collective networth and sense of fulfilment. Younger still is the CEO of 'Hawthorne Technologies Ltd', the physicists very own robotics and engineering company built off of his late father's legacy. Travelling beyond the atmosphere soon became more of a hobby than a typical profession for William, and his visits to strange and unknown ventures became more infrequent.

When William heard from Rene Vassuer of the plans to make a voyage back to Old Earth, there was no question in his mind what the answer should be. If there was one boundary, one truth, one final peace to be discovered, he would find it there.

He would find it at the birthplace of Humanity.

Flaws:
Compassionate - While it can be good to empathise with those around him, this streak of naivety is something that can and has landed William in trouble in the past. His predilection to offer others the benefit of the doubt has seen the physicist's trust betrayed on many occasions, much to his disappointment. Although he is more wary these days, he will often still give into to his sympathies even to his own detriment.

Civilian - While William does know how to handle himself in a sticky situation, he is by no means combat trained and pales in comparison to the skills of actual marines, soldiers and rangers. Due to his lack of desensitisation to violence, he dislikes having to kill and will usually move to incapacitate with non-lethal force. In a fight for his life, this puts William at an obvious disadvantage.

Grieving - William is dealing with great loss at the moment and struggles to talk about it. This has led him to shut himself off from others should the subject come up and can get in the way of his ability to work with the team. At worst, he could suffer a complete breakdown and become an emotional wreck.

Skills:
Advanced Engineering and Physics Masters Degree - William is a highly acclaimed and decorated man of the sciences, proving to be expertly knowledgeable of the inner mechanics of many machines and systems. He can build, fix and improve most components housed in ships, vehicles, complex systems and personal combat equipment. While his role is not an engineer, he is more than capable of covering in case of emergency.

Experienced Voyager - William has been on many journeys and adventures across the stars and has seen many wondrous sights. He is well-versed on the dangers of dangerous sectors and has even ventured out to Deathworlds on several occasions. Well equipped and prepared for any mission he takes up, it is not any easy task to catch William unprepared for whatever peril he may face.

Small Arms - Although he has no real combat training, William has spent time at the shooting range practicing with small firearms and ballistics. He is by no means the most skilled gunman, but he knows enough to keep himself alive in a firefight.

Backup Pilot - Mainly as a by-product of designing various spacecraft navigation systems, William is adept at piloting ships both in and out-atmosphere with reasonable skill. In the case of an emergency, he is more than willing to assist or even fly the ship to get the team out of harms way.

Equipment:
Pulse-Stun Photon Pistol - Known as the P3, this small sidearm is an adapted version of the standard P2 Pulse-Stun Pistols manufactured by Hawthorne Technologies. It features enhanced electromagnetic photon generation to emit a fast pulse of energy at a target to incapacitate it. At close range it can render a human unconscious for several hours. With a wider range and improved electro-impact delivery, it is capable of stunning individuals even through heavy armour and can fell large beasts for several minutes.

Fibro-Plate Long Coat - A long flowing overcoat that reaches to the wearer's knees, this article of clothing is capable of blocking small arms fire and partially mitigating medium weaponry. It provides very little protection against heavy or piercing ballistics.

Grav-Boots - As the name implies, this footwear houses a feature that activates a miniature built-in gravity generator to allow the wearer to stick to the nearest surface. Jumping on vertical surfaces is not advised.

And many other various items and gadgets he's created and brought with him for the voyage. I'll discuss them with Shannon when/if needed, but they'll remain on the ship either way.​

Mitch likes to project a cliche flyboy attitude, full of boisterous confidence and wit. His helmet visor is painted to resemble a colorful beach sunset, with the words "Tropic Thunder" stenciled on the back. Hearing him talk, you might think that he's invincible. There's no challenge too great, no extraction too risky, and no pirate fleet too bulletproof. Mitch knows that the last thing a nervous soldier needs to see before entering a hot zone is a dour pilot, so he does his best to make sure he serves with a smile. Although he's aware of his own talent and experience, he's been in enough tough scrapes and bad situations to know that he's survived as long as he has because of good luck and chance too. Luck be a lady, and she doesn't stick around forever.

Biography:
Captain Mitchell "Mitch" Bailey was born on Terra Una on October 16th, 2265. His father was a commercial pilot, and his mother was a teacher. Coming from a family with a long history of experience in the commercial freighter business, Mitch broke the tradition by joining the Coalition Naval Academy instead. Graduating near the top of his class, he went on to first see action as a troop transport pilot during the Coalition government's war with the Bellerophon Pirate Ring in 2285. Earning numerous honors for his bravery under fire, Mitch won the respect of his fellow pilots and rose through the ranks relatively quickly.

At the age of 26, Mitch earned his Special Intercosmic Warfare Wings. After spending a brief stint as a bomber pilot, he's spent the last few years as a transport pilot for planetary rangers and TAN teams. He makes sure that the Coalition's toughest troops get to their destination on time and that they get out in one piece, with plenty of fire support if they need it. A few weeks before being approached by Rene Vasseur's offer, Mitch quit the Navy. Every time someone asks him why he left, he makes up a different story.

Skills:
With exceptional situational awareness, sharp eyes, attention to detail, and a cool head, Mitch is a gifted pilot. He specializes in dangerous drop-offs or extractions. He might be used to flying coalition navy ships, but if it has wings and an engine, he can make it soar. No stranger to difficult situations, Mitch can hold his own in a firefight or a brawl if he needs to, although he certainly has less skill than those who specialize in combat. Similarly, he's built up a decent understanding of mechanics and repair but knows less than a dedicated repairman or engineer.

Automatic MP78 pistol
Most pilots will carry a sidearm with them, and Mitch is no exception. His weapon of choice is an MP78 pistol, which fires squash-head 9mm rounds. Mitch has modified the gun to fire in full auto instead of its customary 3 round burst. In addition, he has removed the 18 round magazine and replaced it with a 25 round replacement. Not exactly standard-issue, but hey, who's gonna get on his case for packing a little extra firepower? He carries 3 extra magazines in his suit pockets, 4 in total.

Pilot's Flight Suit
A durable and lightweight olive green jumpsuit covered in pockets for holding important gear, such as First Aid equipment, a knife, and flares. The suit is fire resistant and padded with light armor to protect key areas of the body. Mitch's name, rank, and callsign are embroidered on the suit.

Pilot Helmet
Mitch's olive green helmet protects him from head trauma, and more importantly, serves as a fashion statement. A retractable visor protects his eyes from flashes of light and projects a heads-up display that feeds him relevant information from the ship's AI during flight.

Personality:
At first glance, Spencer would seem something of a tomboy and getting to know her better, it would seem most of it is true. She does not take herself too seriously in a social setting and often implements humor as a way of coping with her lack of social skills. Spencer is easily distracted from conversation and can seem disoriented if she has not caught on to the subject. This means she will often not pick up on social innuendos or obvious hints. Spencer is blunt and will speak her mind or ask direct questions, but it does not mean she lacks compassion. She cares deeply for people around her and has dabbled very little in weaponry for the military for said reasons. Her main goal is to help, improve and protect to her best abilities.

Bio:
Spencer was born in January in the year 2266. Her mother died in childbirth due to several health complications, leaving Spencer to be the only child with her father. As he was a scientist working in collaboration with the military, Spencer got a taste for repairs and creations quite early in life and was often allowed to join her father in his work due to lack of time.

It was evident early that she had taken from her father in terms of intelligence and a calculated mindset. Most of her childhood years was spent in homeschool or in her father's workshop. His workstyle was old-fashioned, so she quickly got taught the "old-school" mechanical way of repairing and developing machines and tech, making her seem something of a tomboy to strangers. It was only when she got an apprenticeship with the same branch her father worked at 17 that her mind opened up to the many possibilities if she worked with newer tech, though her father's knowledge always stuck with her and she would hone them just as much as her skills with developing technology.

It was apparent that engineering took over Spencer's life. Within two years of work for the military, she got a full-time position working on engines and developing gadgets for both civilians and military personnel. Itching for new adventure and challenges, Spencer would often take on big projects that would take her years to complete before moving onto the next obstacle - but always working on the smaller projects along the way. By the time she celebrated her 24th birthday, she had surpassed her father in terms of knowledge, skill and reputation. It did not take long for her to be picked up by one of the biggest companies in the coalition, Hawthorne Technologies, as one of their top dogs where she ran her own branch that specialized in space shuttles, travel-gadgets and to improve the safety and success of those going on expeditions.

Despite there always being new challenges and changes to develop and improve their work, Spencer would always be itching for the next challenge. Her thirst for knowledge and success impacted her social life and despite being well-rounded and hard-working, she has few friends within her circle.

Skills:
Spencer has high technical skills and is not afraid to get her hands dirty. If there are mechanical or similar issues, there is a high chance it can be fixed at her hand - and possibly improved in the process. Anything tech is up her alley, but her biggest passion would be hovercrafts and spacecrafts as they pose the biggest challenge. Spencer is highly intelligent and calculated despite her lack of experience in the field.

Note: Most of her equipment is too large to be carried on her person and is required installed at her workspace.
- A high-tech scanning gadget that will scan an object/area for flaws, damage or obstruction.
- A wristwatch integrated with her DNA and bodyscan to show her vitals, location of injuries and a general health status.
- Mechanical equipment-belt with various smaller gadgets and tools for old-school repairs and older tech.
- Emergency repair-kit.
