Kobe Nathan Wade

One Thousand Club
Chance stood in the private box overlooking the Ecruteak city gym's battlegrounds gazing out it's wall-sized window. Behind him, several of his resident trainers were setting up party streamers and food. The streamers were all yellow and silver, befitting the blue and yellow theme the room had. It's furniture was all blue, with pale yellow walls and glass railings on the double staircases which led to the second observation level.

"Sir, everything is ready for your start-of-the-season party." Said a shy looking brunette girl in an electric type trainer's uniform.

"Thank you, Camille. Would you mind going out to the front gates and catching any stray trainers who might not be sure where the battle-hall is? I want to stay here to welcome the new arrivals."

"Yes, sir." Said Camille, turning and marching out the door and down the steps without another word. Down below, on the battleground, some other trainers were finishing installing the foux-pillars to replace the destroyed ones from the last training session. Satisfied they would be fine, he went back along the snack table to ensure it was not messy and had everything required for a good party. Punch, chips, dip, cookies. It looked like a proper high school dance spread.

Camille, one of the top trainers at the school, hurried at a steady pace along the sidewalk and through the three traditional Torii which were at the entrance of the battle-hall. She made a right and immediately viewed the main gates, a slightly more modern one with automatic gates and a security guard vetting cars. She made her way over to beside these opening and closing gates and waited, watching closely to all the contents of the cars for the strong trainers who had RSVPed to Chance's invitations. Those pictures of those people were in a stack in her hand, and she held them like playing cards constantly looking up and down from them intensely. Not all the trainers the gym leader had invited had responded via mail, and could still show up regardless. As such she kept an eye out as well for anyone who looked lost.

A Drifblim came down from the sky, carrying a girl with cherry-like hair in a yin-yang Vulpix T-shirt and loose (if not baggy) jeans trousers with him. The girl dropped down as soon as the Drifblim got to the ground. "Thanks, Henry," she smiled, returning the now-named Henry back to his Pokeball.

She looked at her Pokegear once more to make sure about what the invitation from several days ago told her. "Ecruteak battle hall, eh?" she mused, putting her Pokegear back to her trousers' pocket and started wandering around. This wasn't her first time going to Ecruteak yet she still got lost sometimes.

Ahh, Ecruteak. How many times had he been here before? He must have wandered here countless times on his journey up to this point, often stopping at the entrance to the burned tower. And today was no different, as he leaned up against one of the fence posts near the stairs leading up to it. There wasn't any particular reason for this ritual of his, just the hope that maybe some legendary Pokemon would bestow some luck upon him... Though, as he surveyed the city and admired how little it's changed in the past seventeen years, he couldn't help but notice it was more bustling than usual. Seemed like the commotion was connected to the gym somehow.

...Ah, that gym. He had some good memories of the battle that he had there years ago. He pulled a small case out of his pocket and admired the eight badges glinting in the sun. Come to think of it, that old gym leader he fought back then probably retired by now. Out of curiosity, he decided to wander over to the gym, just to catch a glance of who could possibly be in charge now - Oh, whoops. He almost bumped into a rather average-looking teenage girl with red hair, who floated down on a Drifblim! "Thanks, Henry," she said, before returning it to its ball and checking her pokegear. Deciding to stay out of her way, he simply watched as she wandered off to have a look around.

Shrugging, Lucas wandered closer to the gym, taking a glance at the hubbub outside... Man, those looked like some pretty strong trainers. Lucas scratched the back of his neck as he observed from a slight distance. He didn't want to jump in there right away with such little information, so he waited to see exactly what was happening.

As the girl walked down the road, her memories flew back to the past three years of her living in Johto. From when she first "arrived" (though it's more like stranded) at Cianwood, took up Sherry Ruth as her new name while discarding her old identity as the future Warlord of Nixtorm, all the makeovers she had done, that one time when the townsfolk started to call her Cherry, the first time she got her trainer's license under the name Sherry Ruth instead of Kaede Yukimura, the adventuring shenanigans she got here and there... ah, so many of them. All while being completely unaware that she was being watched.

And then Cherry arrived at the venue before she knew it. Ecruteak gym. Made livelier with all the preparations for the party. She just stood there, reminiscing of that one time when she battled the gym leader, Chance, for his badge several months ago. That moment when his Electric Surge met her Snow Warning, causing the battlefield to overran with both electric current and hailstorm at the same time. That moment when both gym leader and challenger got their own advantages: Chance's boosted speed and powered-up attacks vs Cherry's gradual healing under the hailstorm. Ah, what memories...

Freed Diehauser

Walking down the streets of Ecruteak City, Freed had remained to himself for the most part; both hands pocketed as he made his way down the pavement. Weaving through a couple alley ways before rejoining the main street. Many of the cities citizens had on their own accord stepped out of his way, the 'rough' attire of the grey haired man and the 'air' he carried with them giving them little desire to be caught up in any form of contact with the man, who no doubt was an omen for trouble. Deciding it best to merely stay out of his way, they had amost formed two lines either side of Freed as he continued past, barely even acknowledging their existence as he did so.

It was a short while before he found himself standing opposite the gym, his back now pressed against the wall of a store just opposite as he stood there observing. a

Freed had only returned to Ecruteak for a single reason, the scrunched up invitation he had in his pocket from Ecruteak's resident gym leader. Whilst he had little care for Chance and this 'party', Freed had seen it as an opportunity to get to challenge gym leaders outside of the 8 badges he had already collected; his goal being to attain every single badge rather then a required 8 as is normally the case. It made sense, other gym leaders being invited to a gym leader's party. Outside of that, Freed had no reason to attend this event and as thus had not even replied to the initial invite, only deciding last minute to attend.

Fiddling around in his right pocket, Freed had pulled out a cigarette pack, his left hand now pulling out a single cig as his right pocketed the rest of the pack and searched for the lighter he knew he had on him somewhere, though his jean pockets they were not. Beginning to get frustrated, Freed had placed the cig upon his lips and begun to use both hands to fumble around himself, patting down each pocket on his jeans once more before moving onto his jacket where he'd eventually find it on the inside left.

With that problem sorted, Freed had lit the cigarette and begun to smoke, watching as several others began to gather around the gym.

Lucas kept his distance as he watched more and more trainers slowly start to show up. They were coming a bit quicker now, and he could feel his Swampert move around in its Pokeball, as though getting excited. While Lucas really would rather not get involved in any unnecessary battles, he couldn't help but smirk to himself. It had been a while since his last proper battle, and he knew he'd enjoy fighting any of the trainers here -- though it seemed most of them had full teams, while he only had Swampert by his side. It was too risky to just walk up and challenge any of these trainers just yet... Besides, he wasn't really sure why so many were congregating in this location.

Pulling out his pokegear, he checked for recent Ecruteak City news. "Ah, so it's that." He muttered to himself, idly shoving his free hand into a pocket. "Still, I'm a bit offended. Looks like it's invite only... Strong trainers..." Looking up, he saw that girl from earlier -- did she get an invite? Just how much experience could she have battling with Pokemon? Her short red hair somewhat made her stand out to him, considering the boring ol' blondies and brunettes in the crowd. Oh, but there was one other person with a unique hair color he could point out immediately, a tall man holding a cigarette to his lips with grey hair, patiently waiting amongst the crowd.

Lucas sighed and walked amongst the crowd himself, over to the girl, and tapped her on the shoulder. "Hey, young lady. Did you get invited too?" Despite not wanting to shove his nose somewhere it doesn't belong, he figured it was better to do this than to just ignore it and stay curious. Besides, it's not like anyone looking at him would consider him a threat even though he lacked an invitation, since he only had the one weathered Pokeball clipped to his waist. So here he was.

"Hey, young lady. Did you get invited too?"

A tap on her shoulder snapped Cherry back to reality. "Oh?" she turned around to find a purple-haired man asking her. "Yeah, the gym leader here invited me to the party- what is it again? Start-of-the-season?" Cherry replied, but then shrugged as she wasn't sure about the party she had been invited to. Turning back to the gym, Cherry went on, "Seems like it's gonna be held in there either way."

And then she remembered that she hadn't ever met him before. "Anyway, I'm Cherry. Nice to meet you, uh..." the young lady offered a hand, drifting off as she wasn't sure how to call him.

Lucas took the girl's hand firmly and shook it, introducing himself. "Lucas," he said with a smile. "Lucas Skye." He wasn't expecting her to recognize his name. He hadn't been in anyone's headlines for years after all... Plus, maybe she was too young to remember it? But man, all that did was make Lucas feel old. His Swampert's Pokeball shook once more with anticipation, as though in response to his thoughts. He glanced down at it before looking back to the girl and releasing the handshake.

"I see... So it's the start of the season party after all." Not that he didn't have that idea already, but her telling him about it at least confirmed it for him. He looked over at the battle hall. "The gym leader here must be that type of person now... Wonder when the old one retired?" He couldn't help but feel melancholic. The leader at this gym before was one of the ones who helped him out as a kid... Shaking away the old memories, Lucas turned back to the young lady. "Excited?" He asked. He didn't just want to leave the conversation awkwardly hanging, after all.

Lucas Skye...

Yep, Cherry couldn't recognize that name. She really hadn't ever met him before. Even more so when he mentioned the old gym leader. "The gym leader here must be that type of person now... Wonder when the old one retired?" she heard Lucas muttering. Tilting her head, it was clear that Lucas was reminiscing about something in his past.

In response to Lucas' question as he came back to reality, Cherry nodded. "Pretty much, yeah. Not sure if I should be blessed or cursed with the lack of dresscodes..." she trailed off again. Then again, the dresscode wasn't even mentioned in the invitation, so Cherry's current fashion sense may or may not be weird for such a party.

Lucas placed a hand on his chin and gave Cherry a thoughtful glance. "Well, if you ask me, you don't look abnormal. Especially compared to some of the other trainers here." He said thoughtfully. "Guess that's what made you so approachable. Some of these guys look dressed to knock me into next week if I so much as look at them funny." Lucas took a glance around at the other trainers as if hoping none of them heard that last statement -- rightfully so. Would anyone want to anger those obviously fighting-type trainers over there? With a sigh, he relaxed, shoving his hands into his pockets.

"Plus, if you ask me, clothes are at least a decent way to show off your personality, if you're open about that kinda stuff." He decided to stop talking right there, before he got mistaken for a Kalos Trainer.

"Right you are mate, clothes do show off your personality..." replied a spiky red haired man, butting into the rather pleasant conversation between Lucas and Cherry ".. and as you can see by this amazing coat of mine I have a big one!"

He lifted his arms up making his fur coat flap outwards, the silvery fibres almost glistening in the sun if it's sheer size didn't block it out first. As his coat flapped slightly in the breeze, his Cinccino was revealed behind him, the Scarf Pokemon eagerly reaching towards the coat tails waiting for them to land so it could go about cleaning the fur, wiping away any dirt and pressing it smooth once more.

"Did I hear you right earlier? You worried about the musclebound meatheads over there? The Gi wearing gits? Pffft.." He snorted in derision, lifting his head slightly "They're no more dangerous than a one armed Machamp. I'll show you."

And as quickly as he had come he disappeared, stomping over towards the nearby trainers his Cinccino hurrying after him, the rude ruffians coats welfare the only thing on it's mind. "Oy geezer did you share any of that Protein with your Pokémon of yours, or are you just a greedy git. I bet your momma never told you about sharing your Moomoo Milk with others did she? But by the looks of you, you probably still drink Moomoo Milk seeing how your walking around in an oversized nappie."

Looking around, Cherry could see so many trainers around there. From the (relatively) normal-looking ones like her, those obviously fighting-type trainers whom Lucas had offhandedly pointed out, that one tall man with gray hair smoking over there, the spiky red haired man butting into their conversation... wait, what?

"Oh my..." the girl gasped at both the redhead guy's huge coat and the Cinccino behind him. As far as she knew, Cinccino and their pre-evolution are usually clean freaks, so it won't be surprising if the coat looked really squeaky clean. But then Cherry sweatdropped when he started to pick a fight with a random guy over there. Seems like both he and Lucas were right when they said that clothes do show off the wearer's personality, yeah. Even Cherry herself felt it too back when she was known as Kaede.

Camille, the loyal trainer at the electric type gym, scanned the gathering crowds for anyone whom looked out of place to Ecruteak's natives. Many trainers had already begun gathering outside the training hall, and she approached a group of three of them whom were standing together. Two of them were preoccupied, one of which was trying to get a girl's attention. The two trainers whom would soon likely be engaged in conversation were rather plainly dressed and nondescript, but the man beside them smoking a cigarette was quite the opposite. If anyone here screamed out their type allowed it was that Dark type trainer there. That meant he must either be very confident in his natural abilities, or quite arrogant. Perhaps both.

"Excuse me sir, you can head inside. Leader Chance is going to be addressing everyone soon, and then the exhibition battles will start! There's a special prize for first place." She said cheerefully tugging on Freed's jacket sleeve and smiling at him. Without waiting for a reply she skipped off to a few feet apart from him, where she spoke to the two other new arrivals.

"If you two have invitations, may I see them? Then you can keep mingling until Chance speaks inside the battle hall." She held out her hands to check theirs, having astutely observed that Freed had been looking at his a moment earlier.

________

Once inside all the occupants of the private box would have access to their snacks and drinks. Above them on the balcony Chance would gaze at them with a faint warm smile on his lips, as if deep in thought.

Lucas cringed in embarrassment as his attempt at hiding his slight fear of the muscular fighters was blown right open by the flashy newcomer -- only to be replaced by legitimate worry. He wasn't sure whether to support the guy with the coat or not, all things considered, but he watched from a distance as they confronted the meatheads with unparalleled boldness. Running through the scenario in his mind, he was almost certain the spiky-haired redhead would get folded first... And then he was snapped back to reality by the cheery Camille.

"Oh, invitations?" Lucas replied. Trying not to be too obvious that he was just mingling for the fun of it, he checked his pockets and patted himself down, shrugging afterwards. "Guess I dropped it somewhere." He said with a twinge of sadness in his voice. Which, of course, was just an exaggeration. He turned to the young lady, Cherry. "Well, have fun in there. Maybe we'll meet again." Having said that, he turned around and... Strangely, was hesitant to leave. This did seem like a very fun group of people, after all. Turning the 180 swivel into a 360, he looked back at Camille. "Any chance you can let me through if I show my Trainer ID instead?"

Before Cherry could even say anything about the matter, a brunette girl in an electric type trainer's uniform came up to her and Lucas. "If you two have invitations, may I see them? Then you can keep mingling until Chance speaks inside the battle hall," the gym trainer said, prompting Cherry to pick her Pokegear up again and showed her (digital) invitation in there without a fuss. "Here you go."

And then Cherry turned to Lucas who looked like... a bit desperate? Whatever. He just told her to have fun in the party, so Cherry nodded in response. "Okay. Bye now~" she ran off as soon as she's done with the invitation checking.

The black belt's all turned round as Jackie approached, his harsh words obviously getting their attention as he singled out one of them, a shirtless broad chested man with hair as black as his belt and muscles that would make a Machoke jealous. His feelings however weren't as rock hard as his abs as the horrible Hyde got what he wanted. A fight.

The big guy tensed his muscles trying to make himself look bigger to intimidate Jackie, but he wasn't scared merely pulling on the collar of his coat with both his hands, making his jacket flow over his body. One of his fellow meatheads try to give his friend some pointers as he adopted his stance. "Come on, Dumbbell, I don't got all day and I'm sure your momma's worried sick about her little baby." he taunted, his opponent already readying himself, not willing to back down from this cocky challenger now that he had been called out.

With the word's barely leaving Jackie's mouth the fighting type trainer closed the gap between them taking the fight up close and personal. A wicked grin crossed the red haired ruffians mouth. Just what he had wanted. That's it mate. Just a little closer and I'll end you.

It was time to put all his Foul Play into action!

"Excuse me, sir. Didn't you drop this?" Asked Camille, calmly, tugging on Lucas's sleeve. When he turned around he would see her small hand holding between it's fingers a roughed up paper invitation which looked like it had been folded. She had picked it up off the ground, where another man whom had second thoughts about entering the gym had dropped one. She shoved it into Lucas's hand and turned away to walk towards the fight breaking out a few yards away. As she passed Cherry, whom was practically already inside the door, she caught her eye and gave a wink. 'See you inside,' she mouthed.

The fighting type trainer charged forward in a very headstrong and reckless manor. Before he was hurt, however, Camille grabbed him firmly by his wrist which was extended away from his body so as to punch Jackie in the face. She pulled it to the side and tripped the man's ankle, grabbing him by the neck and forcing him to the ground. This made Jackie's attack, which surely would have flattened the meathead, miss and give off the spectacular dark aura a dark type attack does before it dissipated harmlessly. A few people applauded, except for the black belts friends who sneered and helped him up.

"There will be no more use of moves in the city limits without Leader Chance's permission, everyone! Please go inside and enjoy the festivities!" She said, ignoring the martial artists who were glaring at her. They seemed to think if she hadn't interfered their man would have destroyed the puffy coat-wearing loud mouth. They let him know that with their own puffed out chests and side glances as they filed in the door of the gym.

Finally inside, everyone would see chance waiving to a few trainers he recognized. He eyed Cherry and gave her a kind smile with a waive as she came in, pointing to the table that several other trainers had already discovered full of snacks. A couple other strong ones, seemingly black belts, were hanging out to one side of the room loafing about the stairway. Camille climbed the stairs closer to the entrance to join Chance at his side. She whispered in the Gym Leader's ear and pointed at the fighting type trainers and then to Jackie. "Well, let's just see about that." Seemed to say the older man.

"Everyone! Thank you for coming. I welcome all the new faces to myself, having a short term at the gym so far. I am very pleased to see some friends around as well. Today for a little entertainment, I thought an exhibition match would be suitable. Four trainers will each wager they have the strongest singular pokemon in the room, myself excluded of course." Said Chance with a bit of unexpected bravado. "Did you know humans didn't used to fight alongside their pokemon? We would sit back and let them prove their strength amongst themselves. That is what I propose today! A four way free for all pokemon battle between four confident trainers who intend to challenge the pokemon league this fall! Who wants to have some fun?!" Said Chance energetically. To accentuate his point he pulled his single bladed long sword from it's scabbard and pointed it towards the high cielings. An arc of harmless static sprayed from it's tip and jumped up towards the cieling in a Foux-thunderbolt to trick the eye. Most of the students clapped and muttered, but noone outright volunteered until a very bulky looking black belt leaning back sprawled about the stairs raised his hand.

"My Hitmonlee could beat any pokemon here in one shot with his high jump kick, and I'll even go four moves without using it to give the other fighters a fair shot." Said the black haired fighter.

"And there you have it ladies and gentlemen. Our first competitor this evening. Come now, don't be shy! First come first serve!" Said Chance.

Lucas glanced for a moment at the sheet of paper that was just thrust into his hand... Unmistakably, that was an invitation. Perhaps a legendary Pokemon really did influence his luck for the better? Regardless, as everything fell into place, Lucas couldn't help but smile. This was exactly the push he needed to begin his journey once more. And with newfound motivation, he entered the battle hall with newfound confidence, joining the party.

After a little bit of relaxing inside, the gym leader began to speak. "Everyone! Thank you for coming. I welcome all the new faces to myself, having a short term at the gym so far. I am very pleased to see some friends around as well. Today for a little entertainment, I thought an exhibition match would be suitable. Four trainers will each wager they have the strongest singular pokemon in the room, myself excluded of course." He said, his voice echoing throughout the hall with such convincing bravado that it made even Lucas feel intimidated. "Did you know humans didn't used to fight alongside their pokemon? We would sit back and let them prove their strength amongst themselves. That is what I propose today! A four way free for all pokemon battle between four confident trainers who intend to challenge the pokemon league this fall! Who wants to have some fun?!" Lucas chuckled, keeping his eyes on the energetic Gym Leader as they accentuated the power behind their words with a bolt of electricity that streamed between his sword and the ceiling.

"My Hitmonlee could beat any pokemon here in one shot with his high jump kick, and I'll even go four moves without using it to give the other fighters a fair shot." A cocky black-haired fighter called out. Well, well. He seemed a little under Lucas' age -- perhaps it was time for the adult to kick him down a few pegs? "And there you have it ladies and gentlemen. Our first competitor this evening. Come now, don't be shy! First come first serve!" Chance announced to the trainers in the crowd.

Lucas set down his cup of punch and unclipped Swampert's ball from his waist. "Go ahead and try it, Swampert and I will prove you wrong. We'd like to join the battle!"

More people were already in the battle hall by the time Cherry entered it. She looked around to find Chance waving at her. In return, she smiled and gave him a nod, then went deep into the crowd.

And then the gym leader began to spoke while Cherry was still nibbling her cookie. An energetic vibe oozed from him, the very same one that Cherry had seen during her gym battle. Chance's sudden bravado gave her some chills (figuratively, of course) despite the fact that she's an ice-type herself. It went on and on until Chance invited everyone there to take part in a four-way battle royale (?). Cherry could feel a Pokeball of hers shaking in excitement as a bulky looking black belt and Lucas, of all people, volunteered themselves. She took the shaking ball from her belt... and a Pokemon emerged on their own, much to Cherry's surprise.

"WAH!!!"

The Pokemon turned out to be a pale blue Ninetales you would normally see in Alola. The sight itself drew everyone's attention to both the trainer and her Pokemon. "Snowy..." Cherry uttered the blue Ninetales' name as the latter gave a determined look at the battlers. "You wanna battle, hun?" she asked softly, to which Snowy nodded in affirmation. That being said, Cherry confidently stepped forward with Snowy gracefully following her. It's as if Snowy had picked up Kaede's grace that Cherry had left off years ago.

"We're ready," Cherry announced. "Both Snowy and I, that is."

With a flash of dark purple light, Jackie swung, though the hard crack of his fist against face was missing from the equation. "There will be no more use of moves in the city limits without Leader Chance's permission, everyone! Please go inside and enjoy the festivities!" an electric type trainer said, pinning the Black Belt to the ground much to Jackie's and his dismay. "Whatever." the red haired ruffian sneered, placing his hands in his pockets though his Cincinno seemed pleased, wiping its brow with it's scarf like hair.

"See you inside Buttercup!" he called out as he followed everyone else inside "Consider yourself lucky!" he finished, though whether his threat was aimed at Camille or the meathead was known only to him. The Scarf Pokémon looked at Camille and with a look of utter gratefulness bowed at her, before taking off after her tumultuous trainer who had taken a spot by the door. Jackie wasn't really listening until the golden haired gym leader's mention of a fight perked his ears right up. With places quickly filling, the puffy coated Pokémon trainer eagerly joined.

"Seeing how our fight was interrupted before Dumbbell I am more than to happy accept your challenge." Jackie searched his belt for a specific Pokeball, the yellow and black Level Ball, clicking the button in the middle to expand it before throwing it. In a flash of a light his Scrafty appeared, the hoodlum Pokémon lifting his baggy yellow skin up in pride.

"You all make me so proud! Cherry, go show them all why I gave you that badge. As for the rest of you, show off your stuff. I'll count down on my fingers from the box once you're all in position." Chance said, leading a round of applause for the enthusiastic trainers. Camille joined in obediently, as did most of the people in attendance. The black belt huffed as he got up, and his shoulder bumped into Jackie on his way to the stairwell. He hustled down the stairs and jogged into the far left corner of the battlefield, weaving in and out of pillars as he did. An orange quarter circle of spray paint had been drawn in the corner of the room, with three matching ones on the other corners indicating where the others should stand. While everyone who was to take part in the battle migrated to the field of pillars, Chance moved himself down from the deck to the floor right by the window. Most of the trainers had begun having their own conversations and discussing their assumed results.

After they were all in place and had their pokemon out, Chance raised his hand high above his head. They could all see him clearly, and he dropped one finger first. His second finger lowered, and just as he lowered the third a flash of light like a starter pistol went off around his hand indicating the battle was to start. The fighting type trainer's Hitmonlee dashed towards Jackie's Scrafty without hesitation when it's trainer pointed. He thrust his palm out and activated it's move, fake out. This can only be used the first turn a pokemon is thrown out, and would make the Scrafty flinch if he had no protection against it. The black belt did not so much as glance at the other two participants.

With no protection against such a move Scrafty would miss his turn, though the Hoodlum Pokémon took it like a champ, thumbing the side of his face and leaning towards the blow as it landed. Stumbling sideways, Scrafty tried to get his head back in the game. "Going for the big dog ey Muscle Brain? Or just desperate to get home to momma?" shouted Jackie.

Cinccino stumbled forward at her trainers jeers, Jackie's sudden movement catching her by surprise as she held up in his coattails, the Scarf Pokémon's entire focus on the, quite possibly still wet, spray painted circle on the ground. Though her trainers trash talk and constant twitching would grab her attention from time to time.

Missing his turn for now wasn't such a big deal for Hyde. After all he wanted to see this high jump kick his opponent spoke so highly of in action.

Bang! The gunshot signaling the beginning of the match rang out, Swampert leaping from its Pokeball and landing onto the field with purple skin glistening in the light, instantly dampening the battleground with its ability and causing self-destruction moves to become disabled. Its yellow eyes surveyed the battlefield, same as Lucas. It didn't take long for it to weigh which Pokemon would be the biggest threat to its safety. Eyeing the Scrafty and Hitmonlee in particular, it rushed forward before the torrential wave of Surf lifted it up, speeding forward towards the two before it kicked off of the wave and landed on its hind legs, watching to see how the two foes would react. It definitely wasn't playing around, it was in it to win it!

Lucas, meanwhile, watched with a serious expression from his corner. He was oddly speechless and motionless despite this move seeming entirely calculated... Him and his Swampert shared a goal right now -- take out the major threats, then focus on the one without a super effective boost after the fact.

Cherry quietly nodded at Chance, then herded Snowy to one of the corners. "C'mon, hun," she said.

A little bit later...

BANG!!!

The battle commenced. Lucas sent his Swampert out which instantly dampened the field. In a similar fashion, Snowy summoned a hailstorm via her Snow Warning.

Even with such a weather, Snowy still could see the black belt's Hitmonlee and the redhead guy's Scrafty clashing with each other. That, and not to mention the Swampert heading their way with their Surf. With all other Pokemon having their hands (?) full with each other, this became a perfect moment for Snowy to summon a rainbow aura around her -- Aurora Veil, thus helping with her defenses.

And now the blue Ninetales carefully stepped in the battlefield, waiting for a good time to strike...

"Hitmonlee!!!" Yelled the blackbelt, concerned for his Pokemon. He had been ecstatic a moment before when his first move went as planned, but was devastated when a huge waive of water slammed him mercilessly into the gym wall. The pokemon shook it off and assumed a fighting stance again. "Now, focus energy!" The trainer and pokemon both assumed a sturdy base and focused their chi. Critical strikes would be far more common for the fighting type from here on out. The fighting type trainer eyed the Swampert threateningly.
