The information needed is as follows:
Name: (There's no need for explanation here, is there?)
Age: (25+. Keep in mind the experience needed to be a commander of a paramilitary organization.)
Appearance: (Can be whatever you want, although I prefer non-real images.)
Title: (The title of your character within the Miners. It's always a bird[not necessarily a real one, it can be fantastical beasts], and related to the position in the organization.)
Abilities/Magic: (Any supernatural/extraordinary ability/magic that your character has.)
Strengths and Weaknesses: (Can be either regarding their abilities/magic or personality.)
Background: (The story of your character, how they came to acquire the powers they have and how they entered the Miners.)
Additional Info: (Any information that doesn't fit in the other blocks)

◇Name: Leiptr Dreki (in norse it means Lightning Dragon)
◇Age: 26
◇Appreance : He is a medium height male with dark dirty blonde hair. He has electric blue eyes that burn brighter when he's casting a lightning spell. He is of a lean build and isn't bulky. {Picture will be attached.}
◇Title: Thunderbird- (Although my character is based in Norse, this bird comes from the Native American culture as it is most widely known for protection and strength. This goes along with his duties as the Miner who is affiliated with the well being of the people and the security of the bases.
◇Abilities/Magic: a master swordsman, he has been practicing with a blade since his father saw he could wield one. He also has limited control over lightning and it's properties. He can do thunder bolts, coat weapons and objects in lightning and vibrate metal items he touches.
◇Strengths: He has a high resistance towards lightning often acting as a sort of battery and conductor for his abilities. He's fast, he's able to use his speed traveling or in combat to help shake a oppent off guard so they next person can deal a damaging strike. He can also figure the weak spots in oppents and structures.
◇Weaknesses: He is quite naive at times. He's also too trusting often burning him in the end. While he does of magical abilities, unless he is well rested and fed or in a place where he can recharge, he could only send out a few bolts of lightning before they drain on him tremdously. He is hot-headed, this leads him to acting out when he is angered or disobeying orders if he feels it may prove fatal to the other Miners or people.
◇Background: He was trained from a early age by his father in sword combat since his father was in the military most of his own life. Growing up he had friends and family that loved him and showed him what is worth fighting for. One day he and his best friend of the time were out in the first until they came across a cave. This gave was home to a dying psuedodragon. The dragon was a lightning one, and when it saw Leiptr he jumped into him merging their souls. This gifted the dragon a new chance to live and exchange gave Leiptr lightning abilities. He then saw what he had to do with these new abilities and that was protect those who couldn't protect themselves. This led him to joining the miners, so he could help them protect all that is precious to him and everyone.
◇Additional Details: He has a dragon marking on his arm that is blue and slivery showing that him and the dragon bonded.
[One photo is him out of his armor and not powered up, the other is battle ready.]

>Emily Swrin
Age: 27

Birthplace: Elmas

Gender: Female

Position: The Phoenix (Master Alchemist)

Personality: She's normally nice and well-mannered, treating her subordinates with respect and kindness, as well as her fellow canaries. However, if you ever mistake her for a child, she will get angry. If you dare to call her a child, even by accident, expect a baton mark for the rest of the day.

In battle, she likes to show off, usually to impress everybody else and have them hold her in high regard. She will make sure to make the flashiest and strongest potions she can make to look powerful in battle. She's also rather proud of her title, and will refer to herself as "
Emily the Phoenix" or simply "The Phoenix" in battle

Backstory: Emily was born into a well-off family, as both of her parents were alchemists. Because of this, she was taught how to make potions from a very early age so she could continue the family business. As time passed, she learned how to make more advanced potions, and began working at her parent's shop. At age 16, both of her parents passed away due to the discovery of a deadly poison whilst attempting to create a new kind of potion, leaving her alone with just her maids.

At age 18, she was attempting to make some potions to resupply her shop when she accidentally spilled an unknown ingredient into the concoction, causing an explosion in her lab. When she woke up, nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary but when she stood up, she saw that she was closer to the ground. Once she looked at herself in the mirror, she found out that she had an appearance of a small child, around the age of 12. Immediately, she tried to make a potion that would make her an adult again, but since the explosion knock backed everything in her lab, she had no idea what it was. And unfortunately, after many days of trying the same recipe over and over again, she failed. She added the same items, with the exception of the mystery ingredient, swapping out ingredients every attempt, but to no avail. Whatever it was she had added, it was the last one she had.

After a week of only focusing on returning back to normal, she gave up. She decided that she'd try from time to time, but the shop came first, so she continued making potions. Many people that she had told this to either didn't believe her, thinking she was just some kid the shop had hired, or were confused. "What kind of person wouldn't want to have eternal youth." They would consider it a blessing but for her, it was a curse. Everybody would treat her as a child. She could no longer do things that only adults could do. Nobody showed her respect. She hated it. Loathed it. It was the worst.

One day, she had gone to the nearby forest to get some ingredients for her potions. Normally, she would have hired a sort of bodyguard, but the forest had been cleared of monsters a few weeks ago and no bandits or thieves were seen there, so she decided to go alone. While she was cutting a few herbs from the ground, she was pushed onto the ground by one of three bandits, who demanded her to hand over her bag.

"F-Fine! Give me a m-moment!" Emily said, standing up slowly before running away. However, she suddenly felt a horrible pain in her should and collapsed onto the ground. She screamed in pain as she held her shoulder, and found out she was shot with an arrow. The girl tried to retaliate by throwing her cutting knife towards them, but only succeeded in cutting one of the bandit's cheeks.

"Tch, you bitch!" yelled the bandit as he kicked repeatedly. Once he finished, she was left heavily bruised on the ground, and her sight began to darken. Her entire body felt weak, weaker than normal, and she came to the conclusion that the arrow was poisoned. As she began to lose consciousness, she could hear the bandits speaking as they were taking her items. “What should we do with this bitch? She slashed my fucking face, man.” The other scoffed. “Serves you right, that’s karma from last week.” The first one spat on the ground and kicked the girl once more, who cried out in pain. “I should just kill her. She can’t even serve as a damn slave.”

It was the end for the small alchemist. She couldn't move and no longer had to strength to scream for help. She felt terrified as she struggled to stay conscious. Thankfully, it wasn't the end for the girl. As one of the bandits was about to take out a knife to kill Emily, he was knocked down by a strong shield bash by an unknown warrior. The bandits scrambled among themselves, drawing axes, swords, and clubs, dropping the bag of medicinal herbs and spilling its contents on the forest floor. The last thing the girl was able to see before blacking out was one of the bandit's slumped into the dirt and leaves of the forest after the warrior hit him in the right side of his neck.

She woke up later to what seemed to be an infirmary, and to the left of her was the man who she saw fighting the bandits. He smiled and introduced himself as Gallien and said "You were tough by surviving all that. What were you doing that deep in the forest? I know that you are making grown-up work, but you are still a child.” Emily paused for a moment and then began punching Gallien in the chest, which felt like small cotton balls to the big man. She spoke softly, but with an angry tone, "I-I'm not a child...! I'm an a-adult....I-It was an accident...m-making a potion..." Emily brought both of her arms up and hit Gallien once more, which felt more like a small push than anything.

She hated being seen as weak. Looked down upon just because of her appearance. Ignored because she's "Just a child playing alchemist". She hated it. She hated it more than anything. Yet deep down she knew she really was weak. Her eyes became watery and she just wanted to cry.

After a few seconds of silence, Gallien said: "Okay, I believe you." Emily looked up at him, clearly surprised, and began tearing up. Gallien was taken aback when she started crying, and frantically tried to ease her, thinking she was in pain or something, but saw that she was smiling. After she calmed down, she told her story. In turn, Gallien explained to her his work: The Miners organization and all that entailed, and she asked if she could join him.

1 year later, Emily now works as the Master Alchemist, creating potions that have helped the organization many times, and whipping mostly everybody that dares to call her a child. She works the best she can to not disappoint the one she admires: the kind man that saved her life.

Strengths

~Not a threat~
Due to her appearance, most foes assume she's just a child. What can a child do? Certainly not pose a threat in battle, so they all underestimate her.

~Alchemist~
She has expert knowledge of potion-making. She can make all sorts of potions of different kinds, such as healing potions, strength-enhancing potions, or ailment-inflicting potions. She can create potions that need to be drunk first or ones that can be thrown, causing a non-lethal gas that once inhaled, causes the effects of the potion to take place.

~Leader~
Due to her position as the Master Alchemist, she has many subordinates. She doesn't need to go and search for ingredients or create potions as she can just make them do it, although she does sometimes make potions with them, as she does really enjoy making potions.

Weaknesses

~Small~
Due to her 12-year-old body, she's easily beaten in melee combat. She's pretty weak physically and can be taken down rather easily

~Pain~
Once again, due to her body, the pain she feels when hit is stronger. She is usually the first one to cry in pain. She also can't wear any strong armour as they're all too heavy or too big for her and would slow her down.

~Slow~
Once more, due to her body, she's slower than her companions. She doesn't have the leg reach to run as fast as her comrades nor does she have the endurance. If she were in a situation where she needed to run away, she would need someone to carry her.

Miscellaneous
- She carries around a baton that she uses to whip people that call her a child or is angry at.
- If she's in a dire situation in which she can not run away from, she'll try and act like a child and fool her enemies, although she really hates it.
- She wears a belt that carries many flasks of buff, debuff and miscellaneous potions.
- She was traumatized by her experience with the bandits. If she's ever in a situation where she's really injured, she's going to be too scared to move or react to almost anything. She'll be shivering, shaking and crying. It takes a bit for her to recover after this, mentally.

Heheheh, don't worry about it. I had already written the backstory for Emily a while ago, and just reworded it. Same with most of the post tbh.

There’s stillmore coming, but I’ll continue updating as time passes!

Name:
Heather Lavina Willowshine
Age:
27 years old
Appearance:
dnd_ranger.jpg

Ignore the elf ears. Heather is human.

Platinum blonde and standing at 5”6, Heather is a young woman with purple-pink colored eyes and a mischievous smile.
She wears leather armor and a reversible leather cloak. On one side is a fine leather, water resistant and tough, but the other side is green, with fancy, gold floral embroidery. She has a gray tunic and cotton riding pants.
Her bow is handmade, carved from birch wood and etched with some fancy vine-like texture and the fletching on her arrows is made with blue jay feathers.
Title:
The Barred Owl
web_a1_5046_4_barred-owl_tom_ingram-adults.jpg

The Barred owl, strix varia, are a species of owl that are well known for an almost musical call. Also, being an owl, these birds are especially stealthy. They have special feathers on their wings, the leading primaries, that cup the air and allow them to fly silently.
Heather works as a Scout- Running ahead of the group and getting a getting a look at the situation in front of them, then getting her trusty Faerie Dragon Tilly to send the group a message back, be it through the use of emotions or images.
Abilities/Magic:

  • Bow and Arrow - Heather is an archer, and a skilled one at that.
  • Agility
  • Stealth
  • Mimicry - bird calls, accents, you name it she can do a pretty decent impression.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
+ Resourceful - Heather is always finding new ways to use mundane things. She started dipping her arrows in her pet’s venom for gods sake!
+ Humor - Heather is always finding something to laugh about. She can take a bleak situation and find some pun to make. Don’t believe me? Just try me!
- Reckless - This one will run headfirst into a bad situation without thinking about it if it means saving a life. This is especially bad if the situation she is running into requires a more delicate touch.

Background:
Heather Lavina Willowshine was born to Wisteria Boxwood and Gerald Willowshine. Heather has two other, younger sisters named Lavender and Tulip. The three Willowshine sisters (Often called “The Willowshine Flowers”) are all loved by their parents, and while they are still a handful, they always do their chores, say their blessings and kiss their parents goodnight.
Well... Heather was always a rebel. Her parents were lowly tanners, making leather goods for anyone who needed it. They didn’t have the BEST life, nor the most profitable business. Heather knew this, and she took it upon herself to help bring in extra money. So when she was 13, she took the mile long walk to the big city, prepared to do some unsavory things.

She developed her skill for “lifting objects” from people over 5 years, a rather nasty skill that could get her in a lot of trouble. When her parents found out, they were furious, but couldn’t deny what her efforts were doing for them. Still, they forbade from continuing these heists on the noble class. And, because she knew what she was doing was dangerous, she eventually agreed to stop...

But the thing about danger, is that it can give you such a RUSH. Adrenaline junkie, Heather is. So she sets off on one last heist before retiring. She breaks into a noble’s house, picks up a couple small pieces of jewelry, and is ready to skip out when she saw it.

A small blue egg, sitting on a plush, red velvet cushion like some kind of prize. Just waiting for her to grab it. So she did. She grabbed it, shoved it under her cloak and rushed out of the house.

When she got home, she attempted to run first thing upstairs to hide her prize, but was stopped by her parents, who immediately noticed her shady behavior.
They were furious when they found her with that egg. It sat on the kitchen table amongst all the leather scraps while she argued with her parents. They were telling her to take it back NOW before anybody realized it was gone, and Heather was insisting there was no point. It would have been noticed by now. To show up and give it back would look incredibly suspicious.

The sound of cracking caught all their attention, and the three people, including the two little girls who had come down to investigate the shouting, watched as the egg broke open right on their dinner table, and a little blue... thing came out in a big wet plop.

While Tulip and Lavender were sqwaking about how cool it was (“It’s a fairy!” “No, it’s a dragon!”), and their parents were trying to get them to stop, Heather walked over and looked down at the scaley Beast. It sniffed the air and trilled weakly, struggling to get up.
Heather reached out with her hand and took the little baby’s jaw in her hand, looking down and remarking, “awww... well aren’t you cute?”
The baby’s eyes spread wide open, blazing yellow irises locking with Heather’s own purplish ones, and with a big yawn, the baby reached up and grabbed onto Heather’s wrist with her right foot.

Well, it was pretty clear that there was no taking this baby back- There has been some kind of bond made. So begrudgingly the parents “allowed” the dragon to stay, Tulip and Lavender insisted she be named Rose, and Heather, as punishment had to take care of this baby all on her own. No help from anyone. Which is way harder than it looks. This is 500 times more difficult than a puppy. At least a puppy can’t tell you it’s hungry in your MIND.

Heather learned her archery skills from a close friend, taking to the weapon like a fish to water. With the help of Zuum (The aforementioned friend) Heather became a terror of the trees, capable of taking down anything and anyone before disappearing back into the woods like a shadow.

She spent a lot of time hunting down poachers and bandits who passed through her woods, with the help of her Faerie dragon’s venom, she could incapacitate anyone with ease and tie them up while they were too busy wondering where their toes went.

Her noble deeds caught the attention of the Miners, whom sought to add her to the team. At first, she said no- she was perfectly happy with her Robin-Hoodesque life, beating up bandits in the forest then returning home during the night. But on that same day, Tilly, whom was in the backyard alone, was dragonnapped by Heather’s long-standing poacher enemies, and the Miner (Whom I’m assuming was Gallien) offered to help her get Tilly back. Of course, he thought that maybe he was just dealing with some lowly poachers, but no. These were complete slimeballs, professionals. And while the seasoned warrior had no trouble dealing with these scumbags, Heather was no pushover either.

When Tilly was finally retrieved and safely resting across Heather’s shoulders, Gallien asked one more time if Heather would join him. And she finally agreed.

BIOLOGY:
The faerie dragon is a subspecies of the far more scaley pseudodragons.
The average faerie dragon comes in all shapes and colors. With the standard size being about a foot tall and two and a half feet long from nose to tail tip, these guys are about cat-sized and really don’t get much bigger. And don’t be fooled! Those wings may look butterfly-like, but they are not nearly as fragile.
While these creatures are mostly harmless, like house cats, these guy do have some things to look out for.
-Teeth-
6c50e2d841f0cc6ddb5c0fabb81db28192f27d8c_hq.gif

These little critters have an entire mouthful of retractable, hooked teeth that can be pushed forward to sink into your thumb before being pulled back to really set them in place. Man, those things are like little knives!
-Venom-
Much like their pseudodragon counterpart, the Faerie dragon comes with a tail that has a hooked stinger on the end which pumps out venom. While not inherently deadly, the venom of the faerie dragon is HIGHLY hallucinogenic. You get stung by one of these guys and you will be tripping absolute balls for hours after the fact.
-Intellect-
These guys have a highly developed brain, for being as small as they are. They can figure out how to open doors, solve basic puzzles, learn tricks, recognize faces, and have been known to pass the Mirror Test on multiple occasions. They even have basic telepathic capabilities, being able to send images or emotions into other people’s heads in hopes of conveying a message.
-Diet-
These guys are carnivores, through and through, so they will eat any meat, but they do seem to have a species-wide preference for fish. Freshwater fish, ocean fish, doesn’t matter. They will always pick the fish.
-Lifespan-
You get your hands on one of these things, you better be ready to have this thing around for a while! These guys can live for 50 to 60 years, given that they’re not killed by a predator. You can tell when a faerie dragon is nearing the end of it’s life, because it’s scales start to dull from the normal vibrant colors of its youth. An old faerie dragon will be almost completely gray by the time it dies.

PERSONALITY:
Like the average house cat, these guys have a wide variety of temperaments and preferences, these are just some general personality traits that have been observed to be consistent throughout the species.
-Pretty, Pretty! Shiny, shiny!-
These little guys love shiny trinkets and getting dressed up! They take great pride in their appearance, and spend a lot of time grooming. In the wild, faerie dragons like to steal each other’s shiny things, and the males with the most shinies attract the most mates. Kind of like birds building the best nests. Except the best nests are made of people’s stolen jewelry.
-Socially Adept-
These guys are extremely social creatures.
While they may live in solitude and fight each other during mating season, they otherwise live together in large groups, (called “flutter”s) grooming, hunting and caring for the young in shifts. Therefore they need to be surrounded by other creatures to be social with. If they cannot find social interaction they can easily become depressed or irritable. And you do not want an irritable faerie dragon. Those guys are the ones that sting.

IN THE WILD:
Faerie dragons are wild creatures, after all. Here’s some basics about their habitat, behaviors and lives in the wild.
-Habitat-
These guys mostly live in densely wooded areas, nesting in hollows of their favorite trees.

IN SOCIETY:
Faerie dragons and pseudodragons are rare creatures in their own right, even if they weren’t being hunted. Poachers like to steal the eggs from unattended nests and sell them as an exotic pet for ridiculous prices.
These guys are often bought as eggs by nobility and hatched in captivity, never stepping foot outside of their master’s mansion. However, most of the time that’s perfect fine for them. They get all dressed up, draped in precious jewels and finery, fed the juiciest filets of rare fish, what more could they want? It’s the lap of luxury!
The terrible thing is that these little guys are also a little abused. The thing that people tend to do with them is make a little cap for their stinger so they can’t sting anyone, if they don’t just get it “taken off” entirely. Overfed and ignored by their masters, the problem is that faerie dragons are viewed as an exotic pet that is just SO pretty with all its vibrant colors and fancy patterns on its wings. But as the dragon gets older, it starts to lose its color, lose its vibrancy. And nobles can’t have this drab little scaley rat running around their house, oh no, so what do they do? Strip off the jewels, take back the finery, and throw the old faerie dragon out into the cold. Basically defenseless if they cut it’s stinger off, and incapable of feeding itself. Leaving it to die in the elements outside.
Then they go off to buy another egg and start the cycle over again.
So, Heather has a faerie dragon! Her name is Scintilla Rose, nicknamed “Tilly” for brevity’s sake. She is mostly blue with pink accents on her butterfly like wings.

Gallien Haylock

Age:

32

Title:
Eagle, the Military Canary. He's the one that deals with all of the armed forces in the Miners, hiring personnel, logistics, and weaponry.

Abilities:
Gallien doesn't have any arcane abilities, other than incredible martial prowess. He has a select choice of weaponry, designed to contain instead of destroy. His most prized contraption is the Poisoned Net: A weighted net launched by an arbalest, it has several spikes on the inside made to inject a paralyzing poison to its victim. The same poison coats five throwing daggers that he keeps in his belt. His choice of weapon is a large, one handed axe and a shield. He uses both in tandem to deftly resist most attacks, using his extraordinary strength and dexterity to overcome his opponents.

Strengths:
-Gallien is a seasoned warrior, highly experienced in combat. He mixes different fighting styles to either incapacitate or outright destroy his opponents.
-The Eagle is extremely dilligent. He acts as a protector of the realms, and is also viewed as the main spokesperson of the Miners. Because of that, the organization is well viewed in all of the continent.
-Gallien's presence in the battlefield is imposing, as his recklessness often drives fear into the core of the enemies. He's almost an unstoppable force in combat.

Weaknesses:
-Gallien is overprotective of his peers, making actions to prevent as much damage as possible to anyone around him. In combat, he often sustains needless injuries, protecting his insubordinates.
-Gallien is heavily restricted by bureaucracy. Being the face of the organization takes its toll on him, as any questionable actions taken by him affects the organization as a whole.
-Gallien always plans too much, often having to reign in on his more reckless cohorts. This may make him disliked by some.

Background:
Gallien Haylock is the only man of this generation of the Haylocks, the family stemmed from the great Maximillian Haylock, the Human Hero of old. He was born into the Miners, in a time where the organization was on its all time low. He worked hard to bring the Miners back to its former glory, and only with the help of the other Canaries he could accomplish it.

The Haylocks were a family of great name in the whole country. They raised their young in both martial and personal abilities, working to create the best soldiers, to keep on the legacy that defended the races from the blight of the Crystalline Goddess. He was trained in both magic and politics, but his talent was in warfare. Ever since his childhood, he was a brilliant combatant and tactician, these abilities compensating the absolute lack of arcane prowess.

Sadly, his teenage to adult years were hard. The Miners took a fast decline as the lords of the realms pulled the funds of the organization. They deemed it unnecessary anymore, the purpose of the Miners lost in time. When Gallien took over, the organization was in shambles. However, with one of the largests paramilitary organizations almost gone, crime ran rampant. Gallien wasn't prideful, though. He worked to his bone to raise the organization back to its glory, repurposing what little funds he had with peacekeeping efforts in hard to reach villages and areas, and soon, the Miners Organization went from nothing to one of the biggest organizations in Gerand, once more. He decided that his efforts would be better used focused on only one thing, and changed the hierarchy of the organization: Instead of being the sole leader of the Miners, he would be in the same rank as the other Canaries, working together to keep the peace of the realms.

Name: Xavier Falestine (fal-es-teen)

Age: 28
Appearance: Standing in at 6’2” with a meager weight of 163 pounds, Xavier isn’t the most impressive member of the canaries. However a distinguishing note aabout him amongst the populace is the artifact buried into his chest. It screams of forgotten magics and makes him less approachable than the others.
67F1A9EE-C2FD-40A7-BC76-FF55814A83F9.jpeg

Title: The Vulture (also doesn’t improve his image). Xavier is basically the information, artifact, and archaeological “collector” of the canaries. He’s a scavenger that often is put in charge of “unsolvable” mysteries.

Abilities/Magic: The artifact in his chest has given Xavier two mystical powers. The first was the most notable. His shadow became a living entity that worked with Xavier. The shadow can interact with the world, though it can’t do direct harm itself. (Ie it can’t run its hand through someone’s shadow causing their heart to pop out their chest.) However it can move objects, hold people still, and interact with anything, so long as it casts a shadow.

The second was an ability that has caused Xavier far more problems than he’d have liked. When making skin contact with a person or object he is able to “trace” their origins. In the case of objects it literally just shows the object’s history much like a movie. However, with people it’s living through that person’s past, mixing their memories with his own. It’s part of the reason he sometimes locks up and doesn’t move for several minutes.

Strengths and Weaknesses:
Xavier is rather good at thinking of ways to use his shadow both in and out of combat, especially since the shadow isn’t weighed by Xavier’s physical limitations. It’s able to lift things far heavier than a man can and has made itself into Xavier’s best archaeological assistant. His mind has gathered more memories and knowledge than most men in their nineties. And with his “trace” ability, Xavier is the best when it comes to gathering intel. Xavier is also quite skilled at wielding ancient artifacts.

Xavier himself is piss poor at combat, having never trained in it, not seen a reason to. If he is unable to move or his shadow has light shone directly on it, then the shadow becomes useless. Xavier is also in capable of doing anything when using trace. He’s basically a statue at that point. And lastly, Xavier himself can suffer from severe flashbacks which temporarily distract him.

Background: Xavier Falestine was born into a rather, unorthodox and highly dangerous situation. He was born into a cult that called themselves, “The Quartz Fragments.” It wasn’t highly original but that wasn’t the point. Normally, this wouldn’t have been a problem. However, Xavier was born on the same day that a member of the cult found an ancient artifact from the times of Quartz. This meant he was an omen and bringer of good fortune for the cult.

For years, the cult groomed Xavier. Letting him read anything he wanted, teaching him about the greatness of Quartz, and trying their best to brainwash him. However, in Xavier’s reading he came to his own conclusion that Quartz wan’t a great goddess. The way the elders described her made her seem too perfect and left Xavier with a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach. However, he was a small child, what was he going to do?

But on Xavier’s tenth birthday, he realized he needed to escape. He overheard the elders talking about sacrificing him to the “dark sphere.” Xavier wasn’t sure about the sphere in question, but he certainly didn’t want to die. He tried to run, but the cult had already cut off any escape he could have, so he hid in one of the for bidden huts. Inside he came across what he determined to be the “dark sphere.”

It was a round orb that looked like a vortex of darkness, no bigger than an adult’s fist. Xavier was entranced by the sphere and before he knew it, had picked it up in both his hands. Suddenly, the orb seemed to glow and traces of dark energies ran along Xavier’s arms. He couldn’t let the sphere go and when the dark tendrils reached his chest he blacked out.

When he awoke, Xavier wasn’t in a cult hut anymore. He was in a new place and his first thoughts were of panic. However, a woman came into the room and kept the boy calm. She explained that he’d been unconscious for seven days. That a group of soldiers from the Miners had finally managed to find his “family” and capture them. However it seemed they weren’t able to stop them from performing a ritual. At first, Xavier was confused, but quickly realized when he looked at his chest. There, right where his heart would have been, sat the dark sphere in all its terrifying wonder.

Xavier panicked and tried to remove the sphere, but suddenly felt something grabbing his wrist. He looked to find nothing there and then noticed the panic on the woman’s face as she looked behind him. Turning his head, Xavier saw his own shadow’s left hand grabbing its right wrist, despite his actual position. It then wagged it’s finger as if to say “don’t do that.” And then it returned to normal. Needless to say Xavier and
everyone else, save members of the Miners, became terrified of the boy.

The next day was when Xavier learned of his second ability. When he was brought lunch, Xavier had grabbed one of the fruit from the bowl and his hand began to glow. Then his vision began to fill with scenes of a far off place. Trees sprouting and watched as people plucked the fruit, it travelled hundreds of miles, wound up at the fruit stand then was bought by his caretaker before being placed in the bowl in front of him. The vision had lasted only a minute, but Xavier knew that this was the history of the fruit in his hand. When he told his caretaker she wrote it off as a mere child’s fantasy, but Xavier knew it was real.

Unsure of what to do, Xavier began crafting gloves for himself. He hoped that the ability was based on direct contact with his hands. And with the help of his shadow, which was surprisingly obedient, he was able to. When he slid them on, Xavier didn’t witness anything. He was curious at first, but came to the conclusion that he already knew the gloves’ history, thus it wouldn’t display.

Years later, and Xavier had made a name for himself as an appraiser. With a single touch he could tell the history of any item. And that’s what garnered the attention of theMiners. They wanted someone to dig up the history of the world, just in case a certain evil deity returned. So at sixteen years of age, Xavier joined the Miners not as a combatant, but as a researcher.

Since then, Xavier had made a name for himself as a bit of an eccentric fellow. Having explored countless ruins and exploring the history of people who died there along with relics and artifacts dating hundreds of years old. None of them particularly dangerous or useful, but it always gave them more information. So much so that Gallien eventually told him that he’d be a Canary, per his departments request, and given the title “The Vulture.”

Additional Info:
Xavier has a small crush on Emily, though he’s unsure of how to go about it. He has quite the culinary skills. Lastly, Xavier keeps a desert fox as a “guard dog” in his house.

Life

Background: Devi was born to a noble family as an only child and got spoiled rotten. She could get and do as she pleased under the only condition of never leaving the estate by herself. Instead of going to school, she got tutored and had servants for her needs. Her mother did teach her how to share and somehow managed to not let the spoiling get over her daughter’s head. One day, at age ten, Devi’s curiosity got the best of her and she sneaked out. The outside world was nice enough. There were estates as big as her own, some shops and nice lawns. After that day, Devi started sneaking out every day just to explore the outside world.

One day, during her explorations, she wandered a bit too far away from the estate and ended up in the poorer sides of the city. Devi was astonished and horrified. Many people were so thin, their bones were visible. The houses were small and most of them didn’t have enough clothes. That day, she met sisters Kaneez and Whina. They went to a shop to get something to eat, but Devi didn’t bring any money. The sisters taught her that she could just take it without having to pay. Devi was surprised, yet she felt.. Complete. Since that day, she snuck out and robbed small shops and stalls to give to the poor. It was a fun period, but she eventually got caught by her parents and they deducted she had kleptomania. Their solution? Lock off all exits and spoil her even more. Devi didn’t see Kaneez or Whina for a few weeks.

Some weeks later, in the middle of the night, the estate caught on fire. Apparently, one of the servants tried to steal from his masters and accidentally set the curtains on fire, which eventually spread to the rest and of the house. Devi, being a light sleeper, noticed the smoke and tried to wake up her parents, but failed. She managed to escape, but her parents didn’t make it. Losing her left eye while escaping, She managed to run to Kaneez and Whina’s humble home.

That night, Devi took on a new identity. She cut her hair and put on her eyepatch and embraced the life of crime. She joined bandits and other bandits, robbing, mugging, pickpocketing and when it was unevitable, killing. She and the sisters became like myths among thieves, feared throughout the streets. She managed to steal a magical eye to replace lost one. Until one day at age 23, they got caught by Miners. Kaneez and Whina managed to escape and Devi was given the chance to redeem herself by becoming a Miner. That was a better option than getting thrown in jail or worse so she accepted. A year later, she became a Canary and has shown to be a useful tool in the Miners organization.

Additional Info:

Adanne was declared dead but the body was never found. Only Kaneez and Whina know that who Devi truly is.

Devi is a bit of a clean freak. Even her kills are clean.

Devi has a pet hawk called Kanina, in honour of her friends.

Devi is a very light sleeper and likes to wake up just before sunrise.

•Name: Hati Harulf

•Age: 34

•Appearance: Hati is a white male, standing at only 5’9” and only weighing around 160. His dark hair and red eyes along with his stature all give off a surprisingly intimidating presence.

•Title: The Rook (Head of Magical Research and Development)

•Abilities/Magic: Hati has spent most of his life learning destruction and defense magic, while also mastering Levitation, (for personal use of course). This allows him to deal high amounts of almost any type of magic damage, if the elements and circumstances allow it. For example, Hati can control water, but only about 5 times his body weight at one time. A wall of flames flames can be manifested from a spark, but not from thin air. Hati also has a special ability he calls,”Death’s Pebble,” that just about runs him dry of any magical energy, but has the potential to horribly maim whatever is in its range at the time. Once manifested, its diameter is about 10 inches long, and depending on how much magical energy Hati has when using this ability, its damage output and effectiveness vary depending on the enemy. Weaker, minion like enemies usually stand no chance, while stronger enemies, have a weaker effect, simply damaging them, possibly leaving them with limps or minor wounds

•Strengths: Hati is very quick to think and act, making him a nuisance to deal with on and off the battlefield.

•Weaknesses: Due to his mastery of high damage magical attacks, Hati’s defensive magic is very weak, and he cant take too much damage before bowing out of a situation.

•Background: Hati was born into a family of expert magic users, all of whom could easily master all schools of magic by 50, given that they practice from about the age of 10-12. When Hati’s time came to begin his training, he refused, claiming he’d make it just fine without the use of magic, and was firmly set on his decision, until around the age of 22, when his older brother was murdered, not even a mile away from the district they both lived in. At that point, Hati began his training in Destruction magic, his father acting as his mentor, learning almost every spell he could in order to avenge his brother and become the most destructive wizard he could. When his father realized this was Hati’s true intention almost five years later, he confronted Hati. Hati was banished and disowned from his family.

After his banishment, Hati wandered around in search of someone who could help him master the school of Destruction magic. He stumbled upon a wizard’s tower, which housed a man who would be later revealed to be his uncle, who was also banished due to his destructive tendencies. He trained with his uncle for 10 years, mastering Destruction in 8 and becoming adept in the other schools in the remaining 2 years. Hati ended his training after learning about the existence of the Canaries. Before departing on his journey to find the group, Hati’s uncle sent him with a Grimoire, to help Hati in his journey of mastering his craft.

After finding and joining the Miners, Hati learned of a group within the Miners called the Canaries. After working to prove himself over the two years he was in the Miners, Hati was finally welcomed into the Canaries as Head of Magical Research.

•Additional Info: Hati carries a Grimoire, a book of magical spells and invocations. Acting as a sort of pet, it alerts Hati to any creatures intent on bringing physical harm by pulling itself from the strap attached to Hati and opening itself, conditions willing (rain causes the Grimoire to be mostly useless, slowing its reaction time to threats and being a bit reluctant to open, limiting Hati to whatever spells he can remember at the time.) The Grimoire has the reaction time of a well trained knight, noticing threats only seconds before action is taken, meaning Hati has even less time to react if he isnt paying attention to his surroundings. Any creatures that pose no immediate threat do not activate his Grimoire. Hati can sometimes be seen consulting with his Grimoire, as if he can speak to it.
