Chose to beeline towards the temple

Scrambling behind some brush, she began to weigh her options. Before she was fully able to comprehend them all, a shift of soggy leaves indicated the person (creature?) was getting closer! "Run" was all her instincts communicated to her, so she complied. In a full sprint, she made a beeline for the temple stumbling several times along the way due to her sore, bleeding feet. Was she being followed? She didn’t dare look behind to find out. She had to get to that temple, to safety. Soon enough, one of the many walls of the structure came into view through the trees. Relief flooded over her as she slowed her pace which, at this point, would probably be closer to a limp. As the brush around her cleared, the temples true size became more and more apparent. This “wall” was actually a giant base layer. The proper temple sat atop it, probably a good two stories above. This bottom layer was not as ornate as the ones higher up. A simple yellow wall with carvings and paintings that run along the mid-section of it. Of course, "simple" may not be the proper word to use for it, but when compared to the ones above, it indeed was simple.
Staring up, Marie-Anna's awe grew, but her strength dwindled. This temple, quite literally, seemed to reach the clouds. It truly was the most fantastical thing she had ever seen in her entire life! Every inch of the tower was covered in vibrant, primary colors and many intricate carvings of reptiles, mostly snakes. She could stare at it all day and probably notice new details every second! However, in her mind Marie-Anna knew the stairs to this place must be insanely tall in order to reach those colorful carvings above.
Letting out a long sigh, she slowly hobbled her way over to the wall and steadied herself against it with her hands. She had hoped the stone would be cool, but alas, it was as hot as everything else on this island. Taking small steps and feeling as though she needed to give her body a break, she walked along the wall with her head held down. In this hot, still moment, she takes in all that has happened again, along with her current state. Wounded, tired, hungry.... when was the last time she ate? "Probably that sandwich on the plane." she thought to herself. Her stomach growled at the idea of food as she wiped some sweat off of her face.
Although it was probably only 15 minutes or so, it felt like hours before the disheveled teacher reached something of interest: a hole in the wall. It looked as if an old tree had toppled into the side, breaking away some of the stone. A large blemish on the otherwise perfect temple. It did appear that a small bit of construction had begun to repair it, but whoever was working on it must be taking a break. Nearing the entrance to this crevice, her tired mind welcomed the dark and cool space, and entered it without another thought. Sliding down a back wall, her mind was light and groggy; she felt like she was going to pass out. Using the last of her energy, she focused on the task at hand: figuring out what to do next. There was no way she felt like going back out into the hot day, and any stairs she would come across she didn’t want to climb. She was inside though wasn't she? Away from the heat.
Looking to her right, she sees a faint light in the distance, and a smell that her mind only registers as food. Her stomach growls once again at the tantalizing thought of a meal. Snapping out of her hunger daze, she notices a faint wailing coming from her left and turns toward it. This way was much darker, and she couldn't see far down it. The whimpering continues, and she wonders who would be crying in a place like this. Her mind returns to her lost friend, Frank, "Is he trapped in here somewhere?" It sounded like it could be him, but she wasn't sure.
The thought of Frank and all the bad things that could have happened to him throws Marie-Anna into despair, and the sleepiness hits her once again. "Maybe... I should just close my eyes for a moment..." she ponders, her eyelids heavy.

Where should we go?
> To the right, towards the light and potential food
> To the left, into the darkness, but towards a voice
> Stay here and take a well deserved rest

> To the left, into the darkness, but towards a voice

I don't know you guys but I can clearly hear Frank down here, we shouldn't keep him waiting.

> To the left, into the darkness, but towards a voice

Have to agree, someone in distress > food.
