Dearest Elizabeth,
I desire this letter finds thee well and in valorous company. We have finished marching and have ceased to camp near Pennsylvania. The air is bitter cold, but our spirits high. Tis the thought of thee that keeps my spirit warm. Mine own mind is filled with thoughts of home and thou comfort. My resolve has not weakened and I desire that thy resolve is still in high desires that we may one day be a free nation. Rations art scarce, but we make do. Please be mindful of the fields while I am away. I will rejoin though soon not as a traitor of England, but as a patriot of America. May the Lord bless thee and thy family.
