Character Description
Jaimie has brown hair, which she dyes strips of different colors when she can, mainly red or purple and green eyes. She doesn’t bother with styling it or uses any make up. She is five foot six, stocky, and usually has various bruises from being outside so much. Jaimie has a pair of gloves she keeps close, they’ve got a good grip and she prides it as being one of her few belongings. She’s usually in her combat boots and cargo pants, because she finds them the most sensible.
Personality: 4+ sentences
She’s scrappy, proud, headstrong and while she can be a little pushy she’s definitely a follower, and not a leader. Jaimie is very light hearted, the one easing tension, starting jokes and dodging around the serious moments until they’re necessary. That being said, she can be serious when the situation calls for it, but she prefers when things don’t have to be so life or death. There’s enough of that in her world already.
She is also very self conscious when it comes to her powers. Besides growing up in a world that hates and hunts mutants, due to the nature of her powers, she was never ‘good’ at them. Her powers happened to her more often than her making them happen, and she’s become very nervous about them. She prefers to use her fists when she can, but often times, she’s left without a choice in the matter. She believes that being a mutant is a bad thing, and her own inability to truly keep control over her powers upsets her greatly.
Mutant Powers 4+ sentences:
Jaimie’s mutant ability is gravitic control. She can manipulate gravitons and change the effects the gravitational force between particles. Jaimie’s powers are varied entirely on how much mass, the space between, and the speed at which it an object, or person, is going. Because of this, and her lacking knowledge of her powers) she often thinks she is entirely out of control. In effect, she is able to make an object lighter, or heavier, for example, she could crush a soda can by creating more gravity around it, or make it float by taking some away. (If she could control her powers.)
Non Mutant abilities (skills, education, or interests):
Jaimie is an effective hand to hand fighter, although she lacks any real skill or actual style. She has ended up in many brawls, or ends up in situations where she has to fight someone off. Jaimie is very quick with hand knives, she picked the skill up out of necessity but has grown to enjoy throwing them as well. Jaimie has very little education, and she shows very little interest in learning, mostly because she doesn’t want to try and give away how little she knows. She loves dancing, and unlike ‘book knowledge’ always jumps at the chance to learn more about it.
Weaknesses (power limitations, character flaws, social disadvantages, etc): Jaimie’s powers, while having many ways to be used, cannot be used on very large scales. She can’t affect anything that has too much mass, and the larger range she tries to affect things at, the quicker she becomes completely exhausted. Too much and she would certainly pass out. Being so headstrong, Jaimie is quick to jump into situations, and not so quick to realize it was a mistake until it’s too late. This gets her into a lot of trouble, being a mutant. She didn’t have an education, and so this often leads to her not understanding simpler things, she’s also not a very good reader although she does wish she could better that.
Equipment (tools, weapons, gadgets, specialized clothing, vanity items, etc): Jaimie carries and collects various pocket knives, and has one combat knife she hangs onto. She has a baby’s bracelet with a metal plate that has her name, Jaimie Mayes, on it, and she’s extended it over the years. She never takes it off, and it’s hidden by the gloves she also likes to wear.
Previous History (feel free to be brief & cover just the important events):
Jaimie lived in a Detroit orphanage when she was very young, which she has very few memories of and it was the last time she was in school. By the time she was seven, an older girl, Halley, that she’d grown very close to joined a group of children who realized they were mutants within the orphanage that was going to leave and start out on their own. They eldest in the group knew that many of the orphans who were obviously mutants or displayed powers were taken away differently than those who were adopted or transferred. Afraid for Jaimie, Halley took her with her and the rest of the group.
They avoided the police, or any other sort or government, afraid they’d be taken back and with the growing mutant hysteria, they knew it wasn’t safe for them. They’d let other mutants into their group, but were very distrusting of humans, worried they’d be betrayed. Many of the group do get captured, or don’t come back, and the group isn’t sure what happened to them.
Character Goals, Aspirations, & an interpretation of your faction's dogma: Jaimie’s aspirations are to find somewhere safe, like the old stories of places like Xavier’s school for gifted youngsters, where she would be safe, a place where her powers were a good thing, and know that she wouldn’t get into trouble for being a mutant. Secretly, she wishes she didn’t have her powers, because it would be easier and becuase she’s grown up in a world that continues to say mutants are wrong. She isn’t sure she’d want to get rid of her powers, but she does know she might trade them for a peaceful place to live if they continue to cause her so many problems with her lack of control.
What themes and plots are you hoping to experience in the game:
I want to see a cool apocalyptic world, how it affects the characters personally and how a bunch of complete strangers, who may not be completely compatible, somehow manage to mesh and become the world’s defense.
Writing Sample (topic of your choice): Do you want one for Jaimie too, or was it just one per person? I might write one up anyways, but I figured I’d ask if it's necessary!
