Backstory: A single stolen purse.
A thief, an orphan, and alone, Isekai's own mother and father are unknown to her. Her parents left her on an orphanage doorstep before she'd even a chance to learn their names, then, only four years later she found herself abandoned, when poverty nailed its door shut without warning nor remorse. So the only place that remained for her, was the streets.
First, she begged. On the sidewalks and gutters of the city, she scrambled after any morsel or coin that would be flitted her way. But only for so long. As her body grew older, larger, hungrier and stronger, she reached further. By the day, she'd beg, and by the night she'd take whatever she could. She robbed and she stole, doing everything she needed to in order to keep herself healthy and fed. After a few years, she'd even become good at it, living her life as a thief. She no longer went hungry, and even could find herself a bed, every now and again. But still, Isekai was unsatisfied. Her origin was a blur to her, and so she hadn't a clue what she'd lost. What had been stolen from her. She lived as a scoundrel, without a clue what the next day would bring, instead of... The anything that not being left on the doorstep could have brought. It drove her mad, the unknown fate that had been stolen from her. She could have had anything, perhaps only the debt of a parent, but perhaps also the key to a kingdom. But instead, she had nothing but the clothes on her back.
Regardless of what she stole, of what she took as her own, she was never satisfied. Always, nagging at the back of her mind was the voice that told her she could have been so much more. It drove her without relent. To never allow herself to grow comfortable in her life of crime. That voice, or perhaps guiding hand of fate drove her to find a way forward in her life, and eventually, it led her to the door to her future.
A stolen purse, not unlike any other found its way into her hands, cut from the belt of some faceless someone or another to fund a meal or two. But instead of it, laid not only gems, but an address and a note. To most of her ilk, it would have been trash, to be thrown into the gutters to never be thought of again. But to Isekai, who hungered more than anybody else, it was an opportunity. Without a twinge of guilt in her heart, she took that note and followed it, and only a few months later her life was unrecognizable.
She'd become the apprentice of an almighty mage, who saw her for who she was, and didn't care. At first, she'd thought it just a way to cheat her way into a bed and a purpose for a few days, before their true owner came to claim them. But when they did, they were denied. By all rights she'd taken them, fair and square, the man she'd thought her victim told her. When she'd stolen that purse, she'd stolen her place, as far as he was concerned. So by nothing more than the luck of the draw, Isekai took her first step forward. The next six years became ones of education and growth. She made up for her years on the streets, taking to both magic and academics alike, devouring both with the hunger of the abandoned child she once was, never to have her fill.
And then, she set out into the world on her own. The last of her training done, her next step forward was ready to begin, the step into the world and her future. So she continued to move forward.
Still hungry.
Personality: Still a student of the magical arts, Isekai is first and foremost a learner. She's formal and polite around her seniors, and ready to buckle down and learn a lesson at a moments notice. At least, as far as first impressions go. While upstanding, respectable people have little to worry about from the girl, she's someone who- taking after her mentor- has no tolerance for fools, being more than willing to dispense of them without mercy nor remorse. In a way, she's a perfect scholar, by far more interested in progress than things like morality or niceties, the only reason the young girl really follows the societal norm of the quiet, pleasant student, is because it gets results, rather than out of any sort of respect. That isn't to say she's some unemotional monster, in fact, she's prideful beyond belief, and does actually hold a fairly deep-set respect for a few people in the world, but she's a much tougher nut to crack than most.
Despite her coolheaded facade, she's very petty, and incredibly vengeful. Her pride is the greatest source of her shortcomings, being someone who has fought for and won almost every part of her life, and an to insult her is like an insult to all she's done, and all she hopes to do. She'll admit a fair loss when she's faced with one, but... Deep inside her there's a fire that will always stay lit, ready to lash out at anything that tries to extinguish it.
Her good side isn't too hard to get on, so long as you don't make a total ass of yourself, and don't try to make a total ass of her, you can expect a reasonably pleasant experience when around her. She'll make small talk, though perhaps with a little more of a judgemental edge than most, and engage in the usual peer to peer exchanges one could come to expect. Her best side, however, is a little more of an exclusive spot. The people she truly trusts in the world could likely be counted on a single hand, and the ones she trusts and respects on a single finger. But if one ever does, they'll find her an incredibly generous and loyal friend, who they can trust to have their back in their most dire hour, so long as they're willing to return the favor.
Strengths:
- Ambitious: Beyond all, Isekai's ambition is her greatest strength. While still a young, inexperienced mage, her goals stretch boundlessly past the horizon. She's unconcerned with ideas such as boundaries or limitations, except for when she's able to overcome them. In the past, she's been called ruthless, but as far as she's concerned, that's just a mean word for "willing to get things done".
- Opportunist: Isekai has a talent for snapping up any chance that comes her way. Whether it's the tiniest of windows or the greatest of chances, she'll play it for as much of an advantage as she can. She doesn't have a moment to spare for something like honor, being willing to backstab, lie, cheat and steal to get herself ahead.
- Quick Leaner: On her own Isekai became a thief successful enough to keep herself fed and clothed without worry, and under her mentor, she took herself from a girl who couldn't so much as read, to one who had exhausted a small library within only six years. Her ability to learn and adapt is admirable, and one of the reasons why she's able to stand where she is today.
Weaknesses:
- Inexperienced: Until recently, Isekai has been a student. While having been trained in most skills she'll need during her time as a Mage, she doesn't have much going for her by the way of actual worldly or combat experience, and that which she has, was earned with her master making sure nobody beheaded her, or something.
- Overambitious: Once Isekai has the ball rolling, she'll sometimes forget to check where she's kicking it. That is to say, she's been prone to reach beyond her boundaries, and into territories beyond her power. Whether taking on a foe too mighty, or a task too great, Isekai often won't realized the futility of her actions until it's too late, and she's laying beaten and bruised on the ground.
- Tactless: Whether in her social life, or in her ambitions, Isekai makes no shortage of enemies. She has no concern for the faceless, or unimportant people who she throws overboard while striving towards her future, without even the will to 'waste time' throwing them off her scent or appeasing them.
Magic:
Spatial Magic - Distance Manipulation: Isekai can multiply or divide the distance between any two objects or points within a ten-meter radius of herself. Functionally, this operates similarly to a telescope. While she could move someone standing directly in front of her up to ten meters back, she could not do so again until she retracts them first. An example would be placing an ant on the end of a telescope. She can flick out the telescope to move it away from her, but if it crawls back along the extended telescope to reach her again, the telescope is already extended, so she can't move it again.

Weapon: Bag of Tricks: With her magic hardly being at the level where she can fight with it and it alone, Isekai carries with her a surplus of 'supplements' to aid her in combat. Ranging from razor wires to knives and explosives she holds a number of odds and ends that can be utilized with her magic, allowing her to aim and reposition them to great effect.

Proficiency: While not exactly having years of experience under her belt, Isekai is quite crafty when it comes to utilizing her magic and her gear in unison. She has a countless number of cheap tricks up her sleeve, and is willing to play however dirty she needs to in order to come out on top.
Miscellaneous Items:
Metrique: An enchanted, ruby-buckled belt gifted to Isekai by her mentor, Metrique does not serve to enhance Isekai 's offensive or defensive abilities, but rather compliment them. While wearing Metrique, Isekai is able to accurately determine any sort of measurement without any need for tools or calculations. This applies to all forms of physical measurement, from distance, to weight, and even capacity.
