Eris and Nissa sat in the announcer's booth at the base of the area instead of the top. Though the booth itself was floating off the ground thanks to some kind of magic. The Thunder Dome had only been completed the week before this event was scheduled to take place. Eris was neatly tidying up her papers as Nissa was slouched in the chair next to her annoyingly drumming her fingers on the booth table. "Good Morning Ryken! I Eris will be your gracious host for this what soon will be a spectacular event and I'm joined by....uhh what was your name again?" Eris smiled awkwardly as she looked over at Nissa.

"What! Why am I even here?! Ugh, I'm your other Host Nissa, now if you could do me a favor and just get this over with already." Nissa replied in a monotone voice as it was evident the aspiring demon lord had better things to do. "So Eris are you going to tell the people and our contestants what they will be doing today?" Nissa Inquired by the tone of her voice it made it clear she was reading off a pre-written script that was put into her hands. Though the look in her eyes was pure regret for being here especially next to his human. The whole thing made her sick to her stomach and she didn't feel sick all that often.

"Oh, I'm so glad you brought that up, Nissa!" Eris clapped her hands together as the sound traveled through the arena thanks to the magical device that looked like a sound system and a microphone causing many people to cover their ears. "Oh sorry everyone, now welcome to Ryken Wipeout! We have contestants today that will be going through the obstacle course that you all see in front of you. You might have noticed a lack of snow and despite it being winter the end of winter, this stadium has been imbued with magic and other devices to keep the contestants and the audience warm!" Eris explained as she started to get a little sidetracked.
nissa.png

"The obstacles you bimbo," Nissa coughed into the mic trying to steer the strange priest woman back in the right direction. Nissa by this point was leaning forward on the desk her face resting in the palm of her hand. She didn't even know why she was here in the first place. This whole thing was embarrassing enough that she hoped Zolgen or Gra wouldn't see her here.

"Oh yes the obstacles, the first one our contestants will be what I like to call the Swinger, there is a set of monkey bars the contestants much run down the ramp at the start to reach. They will then get on the monkey bars and swing across the giant pool of water you see below them. If they fail to hold on well it might make for a very wet? Yeah, very wet day!" Eris stated as she smiled.

"There is something wrong with you I swear, alright once our contestants reach the second obstacle which is the Giant Red Balls....Wait who wrote this!?" Nissa shouted into the mic making it clear that she was given a script to read from. "The contestants will have to jump on the balls and control their bouncing to make it to the other side. There are five red balls meaning you will have to jump five times, well now I hope someone goes face first into the water at least it will make things interesting. After that, they will move on to the next obstacle Rock, Paper, Scissors, Ouch where we have a lovely stone golem where players will need to find the pattern or be knocked into the water," Nissa explained.

"After that, the contestants will follow the path to the hedge maze, you are going to need speed to make it out of this one. The maze will be shifting around so finding the path and sticking to it is key! After you make it through the maze, you will encounter the Checkmate, a chess game where you will get on a piece and move across the board. If you make a wrong move you are going into the water! Oh boy I can't wait to see how that one goes! Following that you have the Sucker Punch I hope you all can avoid those punches as you run across hoping to not get punched into the water," Eris explained as she set the papers in her hands down on the table.

"Wow! Are we at the end already? Well the final event is the Linguistic Challenge the more languages you know the better off you will guess the phrase. There are several letters written in various languages and you need to decipher the meaning or get dropped into the water!" Nissa paused for a moment and facepalmed. "Really who wrote all of this it's like a child made all of this up! Alright after that you got a final spring to the finish line and you are done," Nissa concluded as she let out a sigh.

As she looked over she saw Eris grinning from ear to ear. "No, I'm not saying it. No," Nissa argued in the booth.

"Oh come on, it's meant to be fun, alright now let's bring up the first contestant shall we!" Eris shouted as they waited for the first contestant to show up at the starting line.

Stepping up to complete, Michael waved to the audience and jumped a few times to warm up and loosen out. Already anticipating getting wet, he showed up in trunks. When he wasn't on missions for the adventurer's guild, he was training. Feeling confident he could do alright in the competition, there he was with a confident smile. His mithril body made him a bit heavier than normal, but more notable was he wasn't getting as cold as he otherwise could have been.

She wasn't entirely sure why she'd signed up for this. Actually, no, that was a lie. She was very sure why she'd signed up. Her pride as a [Lightfoot Halfling] and a detective were on the line. How could she not join an event made to test agility and intellect, the two things she prided herself for the most? The oddly called Thunder Dome was going to be the stage for her next endeavours!

The announcers felt like they were meant to be some comedic due. Not really to the halfling's taste, but then again, few things were to her taste. She stepped up to compete and looked around, checking who she was facing. She was decently confident in her ability to deal with most challenges. Then again, the blue-lined boy that joined them looked like he'd be tough competition.

“I'd wish you good luck, but you look like you won't need it.” She commented. Then she smirked. “Then again, tough competition will make the victory all the sweeter.” She was getting herself hyped up for this.

Arthur Delos Santos

Self-Proclaimed Sword Saint

Arthur stood in line along with the rest of the contestants as he waited for the competition to get underway. Eyeing those around him, he clenched his fist tightly, laid it against his chest, and exhaled. His breath was partially visible due to the cold air.

"Arthur was certain that the others he was going against were far superior than him in terms of skill and ability. But this did not deter his conviction nor shaken his heart. For he was, the Sword Saint."

As much as Arthur wanted to embrace the moment in silence, he couldn't help but narrate the situation he was in. He did not event realize that he was talking out loud.

Regardless, his nerves had calmed down and a smile slowly appeared on his face.

"So as long as I don't give up, the possibility of winning will never fall to zero!"

Arthur yelled loudly, pumping his clenched fist into the air, as if striking a pose. He wasn't looking at anyone in particular. Actually, Arthur suddenly tilted his head downward and closed his eyes. He just wanted to motivate himself even more. What better way was there than quoting one of his mentors, Tetsuya Kuroko.

The goat boy stepped up with the other contenders, his bell slightly jiggling with his movement. He was dressed in a swimming shirt along with some orange floaties on his arms. He wasn’t a strong swimmer, and he hoped the floaties would keep him afloat long enough for someone to fish him out of the inevitable water below.

He laughed nervously, waving at the crowd before taking note of his competitors. The only one he could even hope to beat was the other young looking boy.

“Y-You’re really excited, huh?” He commented in his shrill voice, smiling at the enthusiastic competitor.

Arthur Delos Santos

Self-Proclaimed Sword Saint

The lack of a roaring crowd just meant that Arthur did not get the reaction he had hoped for. Although disappointed, it was but a bump in the road towards his path to greatness.

Being a proud man who stood by the blade, he held his head up high in front of all those around him.

His confidence appeared to draw the attention of a fellow competitor. He was a small goat child.

"Enthusiastic? That's a given." Arthur puffed his chest.

"We're in a competition. That's the least we can give our fellow competitors. Don't you agree?"

Arthur never participated in any event in his entire life. Everything he knows of it are based on tournament arcs and he was pretty sure this was a line someone probably had said.

CODE BY SEROBLISS
Grade E Human

Well, this is it. My big debut.

Kyra took a breath to settle her nerves as best as she could before stepping up to the line with the other contestants. She was a novice adventurer; or rather, she was trying to be a novice adventurer. When she had set out from her home, she realized that she wasn't quite sure how to proceed towards her dream. Rumors of a challenge for adventurers had set her on the path to Hyroth, and she'd assumed that she would have some sort of encounter on the way- but instead, it was the most peaceful journey imaginable, and she showed up and entered her name still as green as could be.

Still- she had to start somewhere, even if it was... Well, it was a game show. Never thought I'd be doing one of these. It would be a good test of her skills, at any rate, to see if she truly was ready for the world. She listened diligently to the events the announcers described; the first few seemed quite doable, but each one seemed to be a bit trickier than the last. It would be a good workout for both body and mind, she told herself as they finished up, and turned her gaze down the line to size up the competition.

There was a man with blue stripes who seemed ready for a swim- and like he would be tough to beat. Well, at least the contestants weren't fighting each other. Beside him was a blonde halfling who seemed confident in her abilities; another that Kyra was sure to lose to. Closer to her was another human who was spewing off what sounded like lines from a shounen- Could he be like me? Not native to this world?- and lastly was a young goat boy with golden eyes, orange floaties, and a bell around his neck, who was speaking with the shounen lad.

The human's words made her feel surprisingly calmer about the whole affair. Kyra had never been one much for preforming or presentation, but despite his cheesy words, maybe he was right- it would be a dishonor to let her anxieties mar her efforts. "I think you've got a point there," she chimed in. "I'd hate to feel like I won a round against someone because they weren't giving it their all. Kinda feels like cheating, right?" She offered the two of them a smile. "And anyways, why enter if you're not going to try your best?"

Eris and Nissa could be seen arguing about something in the booth though with Eris' hand covering the magic item that made her voice echo across the arena. After a few moments, the two seemed to reach some kind of agreement as Eris' voice rang out. "Well now that we have everyone at the starting point, let's begin the first obstacle!" As Eris spoke people slowly started to fill in the seats in the stadium. The silence now filled with hundreds of people talking not really sure what was going on.

Though they seemed to be very confused as to what kind of event would be happening there. "Well now, looks like we have some spectators that will get to watch you all fail," Nissa chuckled as her attention to the event seemed to be much better compared to what it had been several moments ago. "You know the rules, when the horn goes off you will rush to the first obstacle and attempt to clear it. Those with the highest points will move onto the final round later today," Nissa explained as she looked over at Eris before leaning back in her chair.

nissa.png
"Oh come on now! You can't say that," Eris replied to Nissa with a small glare. "But yes that is how it works when the blast of the horn is heard you will be off, may the odds ever be in your favor. Don't worry about injuries as we have healers off to the side ready to assist as needed. So don't worry," Eris chuckled as she held up a horn and blew into the horn.

Fellow isekai folks would recognize it was similar to an air horn as it blasted across the area which was the signal for the competitors to begin the course.

Achu (#6593FF)
dfb3qpg-2dcdc5de-6be4-4070-8277-7e517a00dea9.png
"Oh, shoot- I'M LATEEEE!!!"

Achu cried out in shock with wide eyes, as the gelatinous dark blue ball barrelled in out of nowhere from behind the contestants. With the blaring of the air horn, the slime simply decided to not slow down, charging down the ramp at full speed towards the first obstacle.

Barely able to acknowledge the other contestants, all Achu could vaguely remember amidst all the varyingly-sized blond-haired folk, was a tall humanoid figure almost as blue as he was. His curiosity was piqued, but in order to satiate that he needed to deal with this familiar looking obstacle first.

---
The Swinger Type: Strength F
Leaping majestically with his usual derpy little smile, Achu firmly grasped onto the first bar with his stretchy, toothless mouth. Finding it kinda difficult to maintain his grip and momentum like this, he swung onto the second bar whilst thinning and stretching himself out, like a slug, maintaining this form right until the end of the obstacle. Landing past the monkey bars with a little flip for some added flair, Achu quickly slid on over to the second obstacle. (Achu: Strength D)

The Red Balls: Precision E
"Bouncy balls huh? This obstacle was made for me!" The slime chortled, honestly having too much fun bouncing around the area. Since he was so lightweight, he almost felt like he was flying, but as he started feeling dizzy he reluctantly exited the obstacle on the other side. (Achu: Precision D)

Rock, Papers, Scissors, Ouch!: Intelligence E or Vitality/Speed D
"Oi, mister! It's no fun if you're that obvious!" Achu chided as he hopped up and down with indignation after his victory. He almost wanted to fix the golem's habits but held himself back for the sake of the game show, instead leaving him with a little headbutt on those pesky tell-tale legs of his. (Achu: Intelligence D)

Hedge Maze: Speed D
Whilst taking his time strolling through the maze and admiring the well-cut hedges, the blue slime suddenly noticed a subtle shifting through the leaves. "Oh, so that's the kind of game this is." Achu smiled once more, dashing over full-speed to the area that had shifted in order to investigate. But as he rounded the corner, he realized he found nothing interesting, just the exit. The slime sadly slithered out, deflated like a balloon. (Achu: Speed D)

Checkmate: Intelligence C
The sight of a familiar black and white gameboard revitalized Achu's curiosity. But as he was assigned his chess piece, the slime could only cry. "Of all the pieces..." He couldn't help but lament, digging into the deepest recesses of his memory for any hope in the dark. The last time he played chess was when he was a literal child, and the knight was always the piece that threw him off. "Was it 'two up, and one left' or 'two up and two left'?!" The slime racked his brain, but realizing he could only take the gamble, he followed the latter and... was unsurprisingly launched into the water. (Achu: Intelligence D)

Sucker Puncher: Vitality B
Still dripping wet, Achu continued to excitedly make his way to the next obstacle, sliding across the plank without fear. He was hit hard and fast, but the blows merely rippled across his jelly and did not sent him teetering into the abyss. He will say that he felt a little sore after though, those punches were big on a small guy like him! (Achu: Vitality B)

Linguistic Challenge: Intelligence A -> C (Languages known: Common, Monster)
Achu was pleasantly surprised to see the strange and brutish characters of the Monster language here. But that excitement quickly moved to dread as he stared blankly at the rest of the riddle. "Wow, that language looks interesting... and this one has such long words! And what is this flashing little light, don't tell me it's another language too?" Achu hopped around full of curiosity, but alas no matter how fun or interesting it seemed to know such languages, he definitely did not know them. "Welp, I give up, so I guess it's time for another swim." The slime sighed, but the smile never left his face even as he was unceremoniously dunked once again. (Achu: Intelligence D)
---

As he climbed out of the water, the little slime recalled something and immediately turned around. Wandering over towards the edge, he spotted his target and immediately began cheering on his new self-proclaimed blue buddy. "Hey! Blue buddy, you got this! Blue team for the win!" Achu cheered on enthusiastically with excited bobbing, jokingly making up teams based on the two colour schemes evident in the contestants.

Mentions: Arthur Palu Palu | Kyra upscalerat upscalerat

Victorique laughed at the enthusiasm of the kid that joined in (Arthur). “I'd love to see you give it your best, kid~” She said, trying to be actually nice about it, but honestly just wondering how often he'd land in the water and struggle to get back into the race of things. Should be a fun sight~ She herself was planning to not even get the slightest bit wet from this event. She then turned to the woman who replied (Kyra) to whom she figured she could be less merciful. “Don't feel too discouraged when you'll be left in the dust by me giving my all~”

When she heard the horn, she figured she'd show them all how this was done. Flawlessly! …

The Swinger Type
Her confidence got shattered on the first obstacle. Why was it something that needed you to rely on strength? Ugh... She jumped up at the monkey bars and swung from one set to the next, but her arms felt like they were killing her after the first set. Still, she couldn't fail at the first obstacle. Not after all that boasting. So, with great effort, she made I through. (Requirement Strength F met with Strength F).

The Red Balls
The following challenge she scoffed at. With great ease, she hopped from one ball on the next. She barely even had to put in any effort. Hah! This was how it was done. (Requirement Precision E met with Precision A).

Rock, Papers, Scissors, Ouch!
This one was surprising. Rock, Paper Scissors? Really? She looked at the construct, carefully going through the tutorial. She scoffed. “That's just too easy...” She said, as she threw the right one with no issue whatsoever. Having such clear give-aways, what did they think she was? A child? (Requirement Intelligence E met with Intelligence A).

Hedge Maze
The next one was a bit more interesting. The mage changing shape was a cool extra. Her first instinct was to try spot a pattern, but she quickly realised there was another trick to it. All she had to do was to be faster than the speed at which it changed its shape. In the end, it was not a problem at all and she was out in no-time. (Requirement Speed D met with Speed A).

Checkmate
Next up, the chess match. Now, there's a fun one. As she was assigned a chess piece, she had to recall some of the rules. It was a bit more challenging then some things thus far, but nothing too bad. She'd had it covered soon enough. In fact, she was eager for more, but alas, the challenge was already over and done with. (Requirement Intelligence C met with Intelligence A).

Sucker Puncher
Her victories thus far had made her very confident. She'd shown these folk how this was done! What was up next? Sucker Puncher? Hah! Easy. She'd just use her Pre-Cognition to dodge anything coming at her and get through this with no issue at... “Oohmph...” She grunted, as a sudden punch got her right in the gut. How in the world did she not see that coming? What in the world went wrong? She had no clue. Sadly enough, she couldn't keep her balance at all, meeting the cold water with a disgraceful “Eek!” sound and the realisation of what was happening. (Requirement Vitality B unmet with Vitality F).

Linguistic Challenge
Feeling humiliated and pretty defeated, she climbed back on the track. So much for going for a flawlessness run on this. She was pretty disappointed in herself, but then she spotted the next one. A puzzle. Hah! That was easy. She'd sorted it out in record pace and managed to puff up her chest again with some pride. At least something made up for her ungraceful fall in the water a few moments prior. (Requirement Intelligence A lowered to Intelligence G due to knowing Sylvan, Common, Terran, Beastial, Monster and Analog. Met with Intelligence A).

She then looked at her fellow contestants. “I swear that sucker-puncher was just a fluke...” She mumbled. She wondered if she wasn't going to be the only one to fail there.

ptxoLgK.jpg
Lazarus FenLazarus' current form easily dwarfed the one he had in the past. And truth be told, even after weeks in it, he was still not used to it. He would often stumble and fall as if he had two left feet. But through practice, Lazarus gained enough confidence to challenge himself by participating in Wipeout - Isekai Edition. Wrapped in a skin-tight rash guard, with only a life vest, Lazarus limbered up with a few light stretches, getting his body and mind ready for the incoming obstacles.

The Swinger Type
A set of monkey bars was the first obstacle pitted against Lazarus. "Okay, easy enough." Lazarus presumed, vaulting forward, launching his body into the air. His thick arms reached out, grabbing on to the bars. To his surprise, he was able to hang on despite the heft behind his physique. With a deep breath before each swing, Lazarus was able to move from one handle to another. Although a bit winded, he completed the obstacle with relative ease. "Slow and steady, and I'll be able to finish without having to get wet."(Requirement Strength F met with Strength F)

The Red Balls
Making use of the same approach, Lazarus planned to make it through the second obstacle unscathed. "Slow and steady, Lazarus. Slow and steady." Unfortunately, upon his first step, the large wolven slipped, causing him to trip, forcefully falling forward. When he thought things couldn't get worse, his body was launched forward, crashing into the second ball before diving face-first into the pool of water beneath him. Lazarus wanted to scream in frustration, but all he could do was cough out the water he had just aspirated. (Requirement Precision E not met with Precision F)

Rock, Papers, Scissors, Ouch!
With no time to dry up or feel sorry for himself, Lazarus pushed through. Obviously, he did not want to only complete the course, but also to not finish last. His persistence seemed to have been rewarded since the next obstacle was far easier than he had expected. From afar, the visage of the stone construct was intimidating, but after going through the rules, Lazarus could only raise an eyebrow, questioning the simplicity of the challenge. "I think this thing is broken." This was the only thing Lazarus could think of after he made his move, effortlessly beating the construct. (Requirement Intelligence E met with Intelligence B)

Hedge Maze
Lazarus couldn't catch a break. Every time he rose up to overcome an obstacle, the next one would knock him back down. It was as if he was being told not too get too full of himself. What felt like a typical maze turned into an ever-changing puzzle that kept him running into dead ends or in circles. Killing too much time in the hedge maze, Lazarus couldn't help himself as he howled out his annoyance. (Requirement Speed D not met with Speed F)

Checkmate
Still a bit irked about the last obstacle, Lazarus was pleasantly surprised at the familiar scenery that was set before him. The pieces were of the larger variety, but without a doubt he knew that the next obstacle revolved around the game of chess. "Finally, something I'm actually good at." For the first time that day, his tail wagged furiously.

Lazarus was eager to have a match with such oversized pieces, but after hearing the rules, he and his tail were left disappointed. The task was an easy one, and after being assigned the Rook, Lazarus finished the obstacle in a matter of seconds. (Requirement Intelligence C met with Intelligence B)

Sucker Puncher
Lazarus' hunch that 'a good run was always followed by a bad one' was proven to be correct. As he approached the next obstacle, the moment he saw the plank, holed walls, and pool of water, Lazarus knew what was coming. There was a little voice in the back of his mind that was telling him to just jump down into the water.

Of course Lazarus did not listen to such thoughts and faced the obstacle head on. Honorable? Probably. Wise? Not so much."Oof!" That was the only sound Lazarus could make as a well-placed punch struck his solar plexus, knocking the air out of him and at the same time, knocking him off the plank, leaving him drenched in the pool below. (Requirement Vitality B not met with Vitality E)

Linguistic Challenge
Like an upset wet puppy, the frown on Lazarus' face was hard to miss. Unconsciously snarling, Lazarus proceeded to the last challenge. But to his surprise, it was a puzzle. "Hmm?" His ears visibly perched up while his soaked tail slowly began to wag. Dropping to the ground, sitting cross-legged, Lazarus scratched his chin with a clawed finger as he pondered on the word challenge.

His fondness for crossword puzzles and word games allowed Lazarus to notice the trick behind the challenge. As if he had a pair of glasses on, Lazarus pressed against his nose bridge, readjusting his imaginary spectacles while he scoffed. His arrogance briefly showed displaying how proud he was of himself. Lazarus was a generally humble person, but after his recent failures along the course, he needed to stroke his ego even if it was just by a little. Though knowing only Common and Bestial, Lazarus was more than capable of extrapolating the rest of the information he needed. (Requirement Intelligence A to Intelligence C [Decreased by 2 Grades by knowing Common and Bestial] met with Intelligence B).

Lazarus did have his ups and downs during the obstacle race, but in the end he found the entire event enjoyable. Not only did he become aware of what he lacked, Lazarus was reminded of what he thrived in. Raising his arms into the air, Lazarus waived to the crowd that had gathered. Whether they were there to cheer him on or provide some healthy banter, he appreciated having them around.

"Next year's gonna be my year! You can count on that!"

Whether it was to rise to the challenge of little rivals, live up to the expectations of new lil Blue Buddies, or set a proper veteran example for new hopefuls, Michael's smile was replaced by a tenacious focus. It was the day of his track meet and the points he earned would make the difference of whether his team went on to the next round or ended their journey right then and there. The obstacle course loomed before him like a mountain propped up by snickering and leering giants. Barefeet found solid purchase before propelling him down the ramp into the first obstacle at the sound of the gun.

A stats across the board

The swinger challenge was like a kids playground equipment compared to the natural talent he brought against it. Foot speed and strength likely would have enabled him to clear the gap alone but he would grab the rings and use them to keep him airborne. Without needing to rock between ring grabs, he glided to the platform on the other side. Hands callused from swinging swords far too much were unphased and energy was conserved.

The floating balls pulled him up short and gave Michael pause as he considered the challenge. He had plenty of examples ahead of him to consider the proper technique. No matter how hard someone kicked off the balls, the water and rubber would simply eat up all the energy and give a quicksand sensation before tripping them up or launching them at odd angles. Michael would attack the balls with an excessive level of leg control so he would land squarely on the balls and allow them to bob in the water before moving to the next ball so he could better control his trajectory and get the most out of the force applied. Time was of the essence but he had speed enough to capitalize on his more controlled approach. Michael would hero land on the far side and dash to the next challenge.

Michael's tactic with the stone construct was much like his sword technique: blunt. With a focus on expediency, the racer would intentionally throw the match and dodge the anticipated attack, so he would move pass the barrier faster. The hope was he could bypass the tutorial portion of the obstacle and the construct's antics. Additionally, intentionally throwing the match, it made it easy to anticipate the attack and counter with the appropriate evasion technique. The half naked blue man would slip past to the next obstacle.

Michael knew the basic tactic to get through a maze. He gambled he could run through even if it was the less efficient method before the maze changed on him. With right hand following right hedge wall at all times, Michael put all his focus on zooming through the hedgemaze. As soon as a dead end was discerned, he would switch walls and double back. Rinse and repeat till he found his way out on the far side. Relying on his peak human vitality, he would maintain speed as long as it took till he could run to the next obstacle.

PAWN! Michael grit his teeth as he took on the role of the slowest moving chess piece. His speed up to that point was now worth nothing as his 1 square per turn efforts were easily danced around by the doze or so faster pieces on the board. Rather than bullrushing toward a violent smash into the water, Michael would bide his time and when the appropriate moment struck, he would violently slide diagonally his one square to shoulder check take out the pieces that threatened his forward progress. Reaching final row, he was imbued with the powers of the queen and was launched into the next obstacle with incredible speed.

Michael zoomed across the plank without much difficult. He had the precision to stay on it or land on it after jumping over low punches. He had the speed to carry him across and/or dodge the fists he saw coming. He had the intelligence to guess and anticipate the fists that would fly, and had the vitality to weather the blows he couldn't dodge as the system pulled out the stops to break his progress. Reaching the far side a bit more tender, he kept up the pressure he would need to get through the last challenge without eating up all his gains.

It was frustrating seeing the finish line in front of his face and being unable to cross it without solving a stupid riddle first. The thought of intentionally failing the puzzle just to swim to the finish briefly crossed his mind, but decided there would likely be a penalty for failing the challenge to make solving the riddle properly more advantageous. Fortunately, Michael was well traveled and smarter than he was before he Isekaied. The various foreign languages weren't so foreign he couldn't sus out their relatively meanings using various interactions with the various races, his heightened intelligence, and the common language as a root language of the world. he'd make a best guess at the riddle and make it to the finish.

He'd waive to any spectators with a somewhat weary smile and otherwise bask in the completion of the challenges thus far. He gives a thumbs up to Achu,

"Blue Team for the win,"

Michael said with a nostalgic smile. It was almost like being on a relay team again with everyone trying their hardest for the team win.

Darin

Lizardman with a Musket (Craiyon) 512x512.png
Darin wasn't sure how he got here, nor was he sure about staying here. Alas, he was here, & he didn't feel like trudging back to... wherever he was previously. "Hmph, might as well get this over with now that I'm here."

  • [The Swinger Type]: After taking a deep breath, Darin performed a running jump to grab hold of the first bar. With significant effort, he swung from one to the next. After what felt like hours (but was likely likely just a couple of minutes), he swung off of the final one. Grumbling, Darin moved on to the next challenge. (Strength F met with Strength F.)
  • [The Red Balls]: Darin studied the balls for a moment, formulating a path to reach the other side. "The less jumps I have to do, the less chance of an error occurring." Similar to before, he got a running start before jumping onto the first ball. Quickly hopping from one to the next, Darin made sure to never stay on a singular ball for more than a brief moment, lest he lose his balance. With a final jump, he landed on the other side, glancing back at the challenge he just completed. "Hm, that wasn't particularly difficult." Turning his head back forward, he faced the next challenge. (Precision E met with Precision D.)
  • [Rock, Papers, Scissors, Ouch!]: After waiting for the construct to explain the challenge, it crossed it's legs before acting. Darin noticed the pattern during it's explanation, & made the connection before "shooting". "A clever hint, I shall give them that." After Darin won the rock-papers-scissors game, he walked towards the next challenge. (Intelligence E met with Intelligence E.)
  • [Hedge Maze]: "A hedge maze? That's it?" Darin ran through the hedge maze; noticing that it seemed to be shifting slightly, he picked up the pace even more. After a few minutes, he found the exit & ran out. "Trivial" With that, Darin made his way to the next challenge. (Speed D met with Speed D.)
  • [Checkmate]: "Ah, Chess; a classic." Darin was assigned the knight piece, & began making his way across the board; only to immediately remember that the knight moves 2 forward & 1 to the side, not 3 forward & 2 to the side. After falling into the water, he mentally kicked himself for forgetting such a thing. "An utterly stupid mistake, one that I have only myself to blame for." Letting out a slight growl, he trudged on to the next challenge. (Intelligence C failed with Intelligence E.)
  • [Sucker Puncher]: Darin stood there, & stared at the wall with a multitude of holes, then to the plank right below it. "...I believe that I'm going to fail this one. However, after making it this far, I will attempt it anyway." He ran across the plank, managing to dodge quite a few of the punches; before one hit him right in the head & sent him falling into the water. Making no comment, he found his way back up and dragged himself to the final challenge. (Vitality B failed with Vitality E).
  • [Linguistic Challenge]: Darin studied what he was looking at; it was obviously multiple written languages, & while he understood a couple of them, the rest had him stumped. He looked all of it over & over again, for quite a few minutes. "Well, the puzzle isn't going to solve itself; the most I can do is make an educated guess." Darin made a somewhat close guess, based on the evidence he had. Unfortunately, but unsurprisingly, he was thrown into the water. Muttering to himself, he continued on to the finish line. (Intelligence A reduced to to Intelligence C due to [Common] & [Beastial], failed with Intelligence E.)

After crossing the finish line, Darin looked back at all of the challenges. He was doing well for a while, but the final three had him. He then looked to the crowd that was present, & narrowed his eyes at the thought of them all watching him do the challenges, as well as get thrown into the water. "I did the best I could, & the past is the past; no point dwelling on it." With a sigh & shake of his head, Darin walked off.

Eris and Nissa watched as the contestants started their runs through the obstacle course. As Michael did a flawless run Nissa pouted, "Man, I was hoping to see him get punched in the face or at least fail one of the challenges. He made it looks like a baby could complete this course!" Nissa sighed as she folded her arms across her chest and looked away rather annoyed about the whole thing. Eris on the other hand was cheering the whole time.

"ladies and Gentlemen we might have the best run of the day! We will have to see what the others are capable of!" Eris shouted into the magical device as the crowd was cheering. The next one up was Achu as the slime started to slither across the ground. Which he seemed to be blazing through the course up until he reached the chess board and was shot into the water. Nissa could be heard laughing and slamming her fist against the table. "Well, Ladies and Gentlemen we have our first wipeout of the day! Shame really, but I do hope the slime doesn't soak up all the water and explode," Eris stated as she watched the slime move onto the next obstacle without any issues. Then failed the last obstacle and took the swim.
nissa.png

"Wow that sure was an interesting run, I didn't think a slime would do so well," Eris chuckled as she turned to look at Nissa.

"Yeah it was great, I was looking forward to the slime being launched," Nissa chuckled as she realized what she had done she glared at Eris.

Next it was Victorique and she had a strong start to the course, "Well it would surely be a shame is something happened to the girl on this run. Some of these obstacles can be unforgiving," Nissa joked as she watched the girl go from obstacle to obstacle. As the girl got to the sucker puncher and Nissa saw her get punched in the gutt a smile appeared on her face. "Well ya know what they say, those gloves pack on hell of a punch," Nissa joked watching the girl fall into the water was amusing. Eris looked over and gave Nissa a what the hell kind of look before taking the magic device from her.

"Well folks please refer to the board for your scores. we will be right back after these messages from our sponsors!" Eris shouted as she stood up.

"Wait what do you mean we have commercials? Wait we have sponsors who funded this event!?" Nissa inquired rather confused about the whole thing.

Kyra Graves
Grade E Human

A familiar sound blared through the arena, and it was time to start. Before Kyra could step towards the first obstacle- a set of monkey bars- a gelatinous ball shot from behind her and the other contestants, and rushed through the obstacle course, panic quickly settling in to boisterous fun. The blonde halfling made a confident remark and made her way through the course as well, seemingly only having trouble with one of the challenges. Following her was some sort of wolf man who seemed to bounce between success and failure; then the man with the blue stripes who made easy work of the whole thing; and finally a lizardperson who seemed to do well in the first half, and struggle with the later challenges.

"Well, wish me luck," she said, and stepped forward to give the course her own go.

The Swinger - Strength F Required - Kyra Strength E - Success

She took a running start to jump to the first of the bars, letting momentum and inertia do most of the work to push her to each subsequent bar. As she swung, Kyra tried to recall when the last time she had used monkey bars was. It could have easily been fifteen years since she was on a set- but her time on the farm and clearly kept her muscles in action. She managed to land on the other side completely dry, her arms only a little put out from the strain.

The Red Balls - Precision E Required - Kyra Precision E - Success

The balls floating in the water reminded Kyra of the yoga balls that had been all the rage with socialite moms when she was young. Admittedly, the balls in the water looked a bit more sturdy. The redhead took a moment to study where the balls floated before jumping forward, gripping the ball for dear life. She struggled to stay atop it, but finally managed to hoist herself to a standing position and launch herself to the next ball. In this ungraceful manner, she was able to clear the obstacle.

Rock, Paper, Scissors, Ouch! - Intelligence E Required - Kyra Intelligence E - Success

With a deep breath, Kyra was glad to have a mental challenge to look forward to after the monkey bars and the balls. As the construct slowly went through its tutorial, she was glad for how loud it was. If the stone creature hadn't been stomping about with its tells, she might not have noticed how its feet moved. When the creature geared up to throw paper, Kyra was ready with scissors, and passed through unharmed.

Hedge Maze - Speed D Required - Kyra Speed E - Failure

The most interesting challenge yet appeared after the construct- a hedge maze. Kyra started walking through it almost leisurely, trying to plan what her best strategy for dealing with it would be. Only a few paces in, she yelped with surprise when a bush quickly grew in front of her and blocked her path. "Crap!" she exclaimed, and started jogging through the changing paths. Maybe her legs were still recovering from the floating balls, but she only made it about halfway through the maze before the plants forced her into the water.

Checkmate - Intelligence C Required - Kyra Intelligence E - Failure

She was glad that the stadium was enchanted to stay warm as she climbed up to the chessboard. She groaned as she took the rook's position; Kyra had never played much chess, and the rooks were usually the first pieces that she lost on the occasions that she did. She was able to survive through a few moves, and managed to get out onto the board and past her own pawns before the opponent's knight pushed her back into the water.

Sucker Punch - Vitality B Required - Kyra Vitality E - Failure

After two dips in the water, Kyra was determined to not fall in again. She glared at the wall in front of her as though she could intimidate it into not trying to punch her when she made it up to the next platform. "Alright," she muttered to herself, "I can do this. Right? What sort of adventurer can't take a punch or two?" She stepped forward onto the plank- and nearly immediately, a glove appeared from the wall and smacked her shoulder. "Ugh," Kyra spat back at it, and stepped forward. The next one aimed for her chin, and nearly knocked her off; the third one, coming just a second later, smacked her hard in the side- and sent her once more into the water.

Linguistic Challenge - Intelligence A Required - Kyra Intelligence E - Failure

By the time Kyra swam to the last puzzle, she could feel the bruises taking shape along her body. She nearly collapsed in front of the papers, staring dumbly at a moment before shaking her head and focusing on them. There were a number of words in Common that she could recognize, but the redhead had had hardly any exposure to any other language in her time in Ryke thus far. She could see that some words had the same sort of flow to them- maybe they were from the same language?- but she was plopped back into the cool water long before she had any hope of deciphering the riddle.

She swam further to the next platform, nearly expecting another challenge to greet her when she made her way onto it. Instead, there were just the rest of the competitors who had already gone there. With a sigh, she stepped off to the side and laid down. "Ugh... Let's see, I got through, what, half of them? ... Three out of seven... And let's see, the slime got five, halfling six, the wolfman four, stripes got a full sweep, four for the lizard..." She sighed again. "Yeah, I'm definitely not moving on," she mused to herself, "but it should be fun to watch the rest of them. At least I tried." Finally, she stopped muttering to herself and sat up to watch the rest of the round with a faint smile on her face.

Jack Hayfield
ecdsad.png

He was frozen for a second after the second after the Slime burst through the course, his hooves stuck for a few moments after this brain. A few more of the competitors blew him by. Okay! He had to go now! He rushed off to the first obstacle, the bell around his neck constantly alerting others around him on his every move.

The Swinger: [Requirement: Strength F] [Pass with Strength E]

It was a bit difficult to get a good momentum going for the first few bars, but after getting a good rhythm, he cleared the course easily with only some minor arm aches. His lower half of his body was more than 80% of his body weight, after all.

The Red Balls: [Requirement: Precision E] [Pass with Precision D]

He kept his momentum up, accidentally falling backwards onto the first ball, flipping over and landing on his stomach for the second. This painful experience lasted for the entire part of the course, his little body simply being a device of pure gravity and physics as he flopped over and over again, his face turning pale when he finally landed. He got up woozily and kept moving,

Rock, Paper, Scissors, Ouch! [Requirement: Intelligence E] [Pass with Intelligence C]

The contraption was a bit overwhelming due to how fast he was going, but with a simple look at the machine and a few seconds of observation, he easily passed it.

“That was…Weird…” He commented as he tried to increase his pace again, still a bit perturbed by the stone construction. He’d never seen THAT on TV. Or the fantastical equivalent of a TV.

Hedge Maze: [Requirement: Speed D] [Pass with Speed C]

Oh! A maze! That excited him a bit. He was fast enough to run through it without much of it changing on him, due to being a four legged creature, he was given one advantage in this world. More leg. More leg more go. Yes? Well, it seemed to be so in this case.

Maybe not as fast as the seemingly triathlete man, but he made decent time by simply keeping his hand to the wall and running like crazy, breathing heavily as he exited the maze. Maybe he should’ve just jogged. He took a second to catch his breath, taking a deep inhale in and then slowly exhaling before moving on to the next obstacle.

Checkmate: [Requirement: Intelligence C] [Pass with Intelligence C]

Another odd obstacle, one where he was forced to think. Not that he minded! He loved to think! He wasn’t the most well learned creature in all of the lands, but he’d like to think of himself as a bit of a bookworm. He had also dabbled in some chess in his free time, so he wasn’t exactly unfamiliar with the tactics.

He was assigned the Knight, which made him sour a bit. At least it wasn’t a pawn. He just had to think his moves out a bit more strategically than normal. It took a few moves, but within a minute or so, he was on the other side of the board mentally high fiving himself for taking time to indulge in a chess hobby.

Sucker Puncher: [Requirement: Vitality B] [CRITICAL FAILURE with Vitality F]

His luck had to run out sometime, and as he stood before the wall of punches he could feel it in his bones that he was about to get very, very wet. The first step he took was not faulted by a punch, and he practically lit up.

His second step, however, was met to a giant fist to his entire little body, sending him flying across the course and plummeting into the water, his bell jingling loudly as it fought to stay on his neck.

He emerged from the water, spitting up some of it, his floaties clearly keeping him afloat as he unskillfully treaded water. “I’m okay!” He felt the need to say it because the hit he just took was an absolutely disgusting one, and while he could feel his right eye swelling up already, he doggy paddled his way back to the course to make an attempt at the final challenge. It did take him a few minutes though; putting him laughably behind most others.

Linguistic Challenge: [Requirement: Intelligence A -> C [Bestial, Common] [Pass with Intelligence C]

When he finally got his footing again, he was faced with another intellectual challenge. This one was a bit more difficult, as he didn’t really pride himself on being multilingual. He stood there a minute, trying to work out the puzzle before making a few guesses in his head and finally getting that eureka moment that he had hoped would just happen.

Maybe he had seen some of the other languages in different books, maybe he was just getting by on dumb luck, but he managed to pass the final obstacle and stood victoriously on the finish line despite having so many others already there.

“That was so awesome! I only fell in once!” He hopped with glee, stomping all four of his hooves on the ground excitedly as his bell jingled along with his giddy movements. He had never had such excitement. Well, maybe that one time where the ship he was on got hijacked by a bunch of jellyfish–But this was definitely a close second!

Zolgen
1196110200-1.png
saxon saxon
Much like Achu Zolgen didn't have much time to respond to what was going on with the other contestants around him, he did know that he heard Nissa announcing stuff with whoever that non-monster person was, he could only imagine that she was pleased to have to co-host with someone like Eris. He had noticed Achu speeding through so he hoped that his blue brother did as well as he could. When it was his time to go Zolgen then called out in common. "This first one's going out to M'lord!" This was a mere obstacle course. If he could slaughter the masses on an off day, this should be easy enough for a demon like him no? Well at first that seemed to be the case.

The Swinger - Strength F Required - Zolgen's Strength - B Success

Zolgen aggressively swung across the bars with powerful movement in his muscular frame. He couldn't remember even one time he had to move in a motion quite like this on the dark continent. Either way he felt super motivated in that moment. indeed Zolgen wasn't planning on going for a swim yet. By the time Zolgen reached the other side he didn't feel terribly fatigued. If this was how the rest of the course was going to go, he was going to win first place for sure!

The Red Balls - Precision E Required - Zolgen's Precision - F Failure

Zolgen came across the large red balls, a classic from Wipeout. This couldn't be that difficult could it? No hardr than the terrain on the dark continent to transverse, this one didn't even try to kill you when you walked on it! Zolgen Started his first hop with difficulty, trying to keep his balance as he went to next large red ball, but unfortunately for him that was where his luck ended, before the tall muscular demon made a very large splash. He wanted to swwear under his breath in monster, but refrained from doing so before making his way out of the water to get to the next obstacle.

Rock, Paper, Scissors, Ouch! - Intelligence E Required - Zolgen's intelligence D - Success

Thankfully it took Zolgen some brains to be an uncaught spree killer in his past life, so when he approached the golem, his first thought was that he just wished he could smash the thing out of the way. While Zolgen's appearance did not exactly suggest a high tier intellectual, Thankfully Zolgen could relate the shapes the golem was making with his body to relate them to what the golem was likely to cast thanks to his observation skills. Even if Zolgen had gotten it wrong he could have tanked a hit from the stoneman so eitherway, he was in a good position when he made a rock with his fist with when the golem crossed his legs, allowing him to cross to the maze.

Hedge Maze - Speed D Required - Zolgen's Speed E - Failure
"Heh this brings back some fun times in the corn mazes.." Zolgen said to himself softly in monster with a bit of a chuckle as he approached. Knowing Zolgen whatever happened in the current life or the past life that transpired in a corn maze was definitely not a good thing for others if it was fun for Zolgen. He approached the hedge maze and ran as quick as he could, which for the tall demon all things considered was only above average with Fast F and his grade. Part of him wanted to just cut through the maze but he knew that would probably disqualify him, so he tried to make it through but it kept changing before he could get anywhere meaningful. Eventually Zolgen ended up getting hit in the water, before making his way to the next obstacle.

Checkmate - Intelligence C Required - Zolgen's Intelligence D - Failure
Great a chest board Was all Zolgen could think to himself when he approached it. It wasn't really a game he spent playing, too much time was used else where planning to kill people, a much more compelling past time in his last life. He essentially understood what he was supposed to do however with the way the pieces worked. It seemed that he had been assigned a pawn of all things. Somehow Zolgen was expected to get this pawn to the end of the board to get it promoted, and have it strategically take pieces to change lane. Now how was he supposed to do that? Only one way to find that out, he survived several moves thinking he had identified a pattern until suddenly he found himself getting ejected in the water, wet yet again for the third time that day.

Sucker Punch - Vitality B Required - Zolgen's Vitality C -Failure
Zolgen saw the plank with the acursed red gloves once more. Tch as if I'm letting these get the better of me Zolgen thought to himself as he moved on. Afterall he was war hardned! He had been hit with amany weapon with no armor and survived to tell the tale! Surely this should be no different. Zolgen was actually walking along pretty confidently at first, dodging them here and there taking them in the chest, managing to keep himself up right, he rieally thought he could make it until just a little over half way through suddenly he got pelted right in the side of the face, staggering over, before another one hit him right in the side, as he found himself landing in the water. Failing at this one just plain sucked as he got wet in the water once again.

Linguistic Challenge - Intelligence A-2 grades due to known languages =C Required - Zolgen's intelligence D -Failure
This one made Zolgen audibly groan in disappointment. First he failed last round which should have been a cake walk for him, knowing that he'd need to seriously up his toughness if that sort of thing could stop him and now this, Really? A language puzzle of all things. Zolgen thought that he was piecing some of it together at one point, but there were just so many he didn't know becaues why spend time learning them when you already knew common and your main plan was to help kill and enslave most of those around you anyway? Well regardless Zolgen couldn't even begin to piece together the construct language, nor the beastial, or fae, or Terran even. All he knew was monster which he was glad to see represented, and common.

So eventually he resisted smashing the thing to bits and found himself in the water once again before his way off out of the water to wait for things to move on, knowing there were already many who did better than him. Even so Zolgen wasn't too down, now he knew what he could work on to become an even better creator of mass destruction, already thinking through some 'fun' training methods he could adopt.

Eris and Nissa watched as the contestants started their runs through the obstacle course. As Kyra started off she made it look easy getting across the swinger and then quickly following up to the giant red balls. Nissa leaned forward on her seat as she waited to see if she was going to fall into the water. Though nothing seemed to make her fall into the water until Kyra go to the maze and was pushed into the water. "Look at all of that! She got pushed in by the plants!" Nissa laughed as she wiped a tear from her eye. The next couple of obstacles were also failures which ended up with Kyra falling into the water.

As Jack went through the obstacles there didn't seem like there was a whole lot that could stop the goat boy. That was until he tried to go through the sucker puncher and was knocked off the side and into the water. "Wow, I always heard goats could eat anything and man did he take that like a champ," Eris stated as she leaned over watching him on the run through the course.
nissa.png

Nissa saw the familiar figure to which she let out a gasp of shock. As she saw one of her Generals step up. That was when he made his announcement which made her facepalm herself as she waited to see how his run was going to go. As he went over the obstacles, and took a dive on the balls and many of the other challenges Nissa eagerly watched though she would admit that it never happened if anyone questioned her on it. "Wow, talk about smashing and causing destruction to the puzzle well I suppose that can't be help," Nissa stated.
