"Ho hoo"

Mathias chuckled as his smiling face nodded.

"I think I'll take you up on that offer, stranger. It's been a busy morning already for this old man."

Mathias starts trudging forward with his 2 attendants in tow. Unless stopped, Mathias would allow himself to be led inside. Marcus would shift his eyes between the old man and Lucius with a tension in his body and willingness to act should anyone give him cause.

"I don't quite recognize that greeting, stranger. You boys come from far off?"

Mathias asked nonchalantly.

(assuming mathias is led into the manor, go ahead and describe what Lucius and his men did with the place to make it more homey since they arrived)

Chisato

Kellum's partner became irate at the remembering of the creatures they fought.

"Shut up, Kellum! God! Next time let's try using your face to split plague riddled vermin and let you feel their little grabby hands on your ears as they squeak and die."

Chisato fumed and "Hmphed" before involuntarily shivering at the thought as she stomped away. Shaking her head as if to shake the memories, she turned to Shie.

"You totally understand, right? Nasty, grabby, smelly creatures that bite and can get in your hair. Aweful!"

Chisato shivered again.

Lucius nodded to the old man and his hand dropped from his hilt entirely. He hoped it would be a good enough signal to Marcus that he did not think there would be any trouble. Though he still expected him to follow inside. Not that he really thought two unarmed men and an old man would be a threat to four men trained under the eagle standard of Rome. He led the old man inside to where a fire was crackling in the hearth. They had removed the splintered furniture from most of the house, using what wood was left behind of it as firewood and kindling. A small table and a few old crates to serve as chairs had been scavenged from around the area. There were stairs to the upper floor in the kitchen, though they had been cut off by a large canvas sheet that had been pinned in place to keep the heat from flowing out the top of the house. A small window that had been likewise covered with a small blanket told of broken glass. The house was barren of most furniture, but it was clear that the romans had taken care to clean and organize the place. A small room off to the side could be seen through a doorway with the hint of a traveling pack visible, which likely indicated where the men were sleeping. Lucius gestured to the crates so the men could sit. He set an ancient cast iron kettle filled with water over the fireplace with a hook and began to portion out some herbs for a tea as the old man enquired whether they were foreigners. He smiled wanly though it was not visible to the man. "We come from an empire far away. We do not think we will ever be able to return though, so we are seeking to set down our roots here. We hope our gods will smile upon our ventures here too though." He turned and made his way to sit down at the crate. "So, let us discuss us staying in this village. I will be straight forward. We are not willing to leave, we have spilled blood to free this place of the infestation and I feel it is only just we are allowed to stay as a reward for the work done. However our relationship could be quite fruitful. We have several good architects and an excellent clerk to boot. We also have the tools we have gathered. There are things we could trade in return for goods or services."

Hathaway

"Thank you. I try to live up to the name as best as I can, but time will tell with how well I do."

Seeing Teuihua lower the items to ground, Hathaway rushed over to help gently place them down with delicate care. All the while he was listening to the construct with a warm smile. The idea to refer to his foster mother as his own 'creator' held alot of conflicting and amusing thoughts for him to ponder on. Members of certain churches would more often align their creation to being the responsibility of a specific god.

Yet to call his foster mother his creator wasn't entirely wrong in a sense. "My 'creator' hm? Yes you wouldn't be wrong about that usage of term. Her teachings and guidance were what brought my very identity and character to being. So to say she 'created' Hathaway Peacecraft would be an agreeable assertion." Hathaway finished removing the several religious tools from Teuihua's grasp and set them at the center of hall in a neat pile for them to stand around and observe. The items at their feet were representative of several religions that were held within the Church. As someone who was always there himself, Hathaway recognized the objects from the different belief systems they belonged to.

"I'll deal with the more delicate items. As for the heavier objects I'll leave them to you. Those for instance should go over there, and that over there." He pointed at several objects and refered to different places for them to go. All the while he moved about the other religious tools, such as idol statues, cups, candles and etc. "I've never heard of the Mictlantecuhtli civilization. Must be quite ancient. I hope I'm not wrong to assume that's where you come from. I have to say, I'd like to do some research on it when I get the chance." He commented while placing an item down on the altar. Then his eyes scanned about the Church's interior once more with a more hardened gaze, "The same goes for the source of this 'Ratmancer' I heard that was responsible for the devastation on this village. In my opinion, learning about the sources of these many foreign powers in the world will be useful to help prevent tragedies like this from happening again...."

Verde could not help it though he tried to keep calm it was at the moment Chisato turned away his chest began to rise and fall, a faint snort escaped him and his scowl turned into a grin "Oh my gods, I never dreamed I'd see a woman that upset! Kellum my guy what in the world did she say? If I heard it right it was the funniest thing since... since."

His laughter calmed for a moment, it was odd he knew he saw a scene like this but it seemed so foggy, distant even. He felt that pit in his stomach that usually accompanied one of these episodes.

"At least I though I saw something like this before..."

Just like that the wind was kicked out of Verde's sails, the happiness became this feeling of longing for something he did not know. He quickly went back to scanning the Horizon. Praying now for something to happen. Just to keep anyone from asking, just to get rid of the pit.

It seemed there were some issues among her comrades right from the start, it seemed people had some complaints about the work they were doing. It was understandable most don't enjoy hard physical jobs but this was worth it, people lost their livelihoods they don't deserve to be forcefully moved because someone was cruel to them, this village was where they buried their families they had the right to stay there. She chuckled hearing Verde's words. Was he really complaining about too easy work? The place he came from seemed pretty rough."You know if that work is too easy for you we wouldn't mind getting help carrying water, some ladies could use a bit of break here." She gave a half-joking suggestion, there was always a need for more help and some people did seem tired, a bit of rest before carrying on could do wonders for a person. She ran up to the kid who tried to play with the slime "Hey careful, we don't know what it is and what it could do. How about you help with the work? Maybe you'll get a reward when we're back?" She tried to encourage the child, trying to give him a goal to avoid more distractions. Chisato's recollection sent shivers down her spine, a nightmare. It reminded her of her experiences in her previous life, rats, plagues, dirt, and sickness were common during the war and she understood the reaction, it wasn't the worst but certainly not the most pleasant experience. "I get that, I used to have some experience with rodents before... It's a nightmare. Especially when watching people die because of them, just one bite can bring so many deadly diseases. One can be hell but multiple... I'm sorry you had to deal with that, Chisato." She said with warmth and compassion in her voice. She was taken aback seeing that Verde apparently found lady's discomfort so funny just to get even more surprised and worried when he escaped them before anyone could ask questions. This was concerning but it wasn't her place to ask. This all made her feel tense, tiring work, children she needed to watch over, conflict in the group, and worrying behavior from their companion. She just hoped other groups handled themselves better. It was important for people to keep together to work together.

Kellum chuckled as his partner was rather annoyed he had brought up the rats again. Which to be fair she did have a point there was much better opportunities in the city than here. But he really couldn't bring himself to let the people go down a road that could have had bandits on it like they did the first time they had come through. "I mean its not really your face, I mean well kinda," Kellum responded as Chisato stopped away leaving him with the drow next to him.

Kellum turned to look at the drow as he snorted and spoke. "Uh, well I mean I just spoke the truth, though it really wasn't all that funny at the time," He responded as he brought a hand up to his chin. The whole thing was messy to say the least and there was A LOT of rats. Kellum didn't even think he had seen that many rats in his life time. Though he did find the whole scenario a bit interesting as he was curious to see what even allowed the ratmancer to do that to begin with.

new female oc.png

When Shei chimed in he turned to her as Chisato was now talking to her. "Who said this was easy with all the children running around?" He chuckled as he watched her talk to the kind who was playing with the slime. Though from what the woman said she didn't seem to like rats anymore than chisato did. Though he figured probably not a good idea to press that further as the iron was already heating up.

Truthfully Teuihua was pleased to hear Hathaway speak in such a friendly and polite way it seemed, it was warm, something which the golem was not used too. His primary purpose in the past was pretty solitary, beyond taking orders and fighting monsters and enemies who came near the border. But at the moment it almost felt like Hathaway was speaking to Teuihua as if he was an equal, despite them being very different. Teuihua was used to being seen and treated as tool, but he was okay with that as long as he was able to serve and get results he deemed as a good thing in helping and protecting people.

He nodded when Hathaway said he was trying his best to live up to the name and once more when he said she was like his creator in a sense. "It sounds like she was a wonderful person then." Teuihua asserted, if someone as nice as Hathaway could be spawned from someone like her he felt confident in this assertion despite not knowing her.
Teuihua was rather unfamiliar with most if not all the religious items shown, he did not see any from those of his creators which saddened him a bit, unsure of how much time had truly past in that moment even more so.

"Thank you again, I will do my best." Teuihua wanted to show he appreciated Hathaway's help with the more delicate items, as the golem, began to take one heavy religious object at a time and move it around the space where he had instructed him to place it. He used common sense when deciding which orientation he thought the object should have in relationship to the viewer. Teuihua was a bit surprised to hear that he had not even heard of his civilization as he paused for a moment still cradling one of the objects with his more agile arm.

"It was quite well known from when I last remember as for how much time has gone by i am uncertain, however Hathaway if you are earnest in wanting to do research about it I could show you the ruins I came from at some point, they were a ways from here." Teuihua spoke trying to be as helpful as possible as per usual. Although ancient sounded so long ago could that really be?
Teuihua put down another heavy object as gently as he could, before continuing,

"I imagine there are many magics in this world, and what this ratmancer used to sow destruction could be investigated further i am sure, perhaps there are even clues remaining. "

Mathias took a seat with all the ceremony of an old man working worn joints. He visibly swiveled his head around and leaned to take a peak.

"Your boys have done quite a job clearing out the place. Probably could be a bit more homey though,"

Mathias listened earnestly to Lucius's proposal.

"Hmm"

He opened one of his eyes wider to look at Lucius. Green and still full of sharp awareness despite his apparent age.

"I appreciate your forwardness, Stanger, but I think you are mistaken. I'm not here to ask you to leave nor to demand anything of you and your men. It really is just a house call. This village has been through a terrible thing. There are more than enough empty houses that used to be homes. "

"I suppose if I were more honest, I am here to ensure you stay and get you what you need to make it happen. We have more than enough supplies with our caravan to help you boys with your projects. The village will need defending and it needs people. We cannot grow our numbers if we cannot defend ourselves, and we can't well defend ourselves without growing our numbers. You boys are the answer to what we currently lack. We had to pay some adventurers just to escort us out but they won't be here forever. We will likely have to rely on your men and any others we can draw to our little town."

Mathias stated frankly, matching Lucius in an attempt at openness.

Chisato

Smiled at being affirmed by Shei but remained cold toward Kellum. The child was saved from booger theft by the slime when Shei scolded him. The rest of the women continued collecting water and the kids killed time. Overhead the occasional bird would fly. Of note as the time passed was a small herd of pegasi the fly through the sky in the distance. Mostly white, but not exclusively, they would be heading west. Mid bird watching, Chisato approach Verde.

"You see anything interesting?"

She asked, killing time. Verde had not seen much of anything interesting beyond what anyone looking around might have seen. Was a perfectly peaceful morning. A slime wandered from the water and made its way over to Verde. Wasn't clear if it would eat his boots or clean them.

Lucius was surprised that the old man was so frank. Revealing his hand and allowing Lucius to know their need of fighting men put him at an inherent disadvantage in the conversation. A well practiced leader, Lucius didn't let the shock show on his face. Instead he nodded. "We can protect this village. My men are skilled enough fighters to do that. We occasionally take up contracts like adventurers, so we can't say we will always be here. If time can be spared in the day though we might look to teach your people to fight and we could source some equipment to form a local militia, should the need to defend the village arise. In the meantime, we can wait around here. We will need to repair our home first anyways." He offered the first two openly. "We might also be able to set up better walls and an aqueduct given time. If we are to live here, I would like this village to prosper as well. If we can do that, we have an accord I believe." His choice was strategic. Later on, he hoped he would have built up enough good will to recruit some of these barbarians into his Auxilia.

"Nope, can't say I have. Outside of a few pixies in the distance. Seems as though my scouting paid off." The Dark elf sighed, he had hoped for something, anything. But in the end it never seemed to show up.

"I wish an Angry bear had at least shown up. What were the others thinking sending me to human territory?" Verde muttered, unintentionally kicking the slime. Only looking down for a moment. "Quite a few slimes though."

Kellum chuckled at the whole scene, though even he had to admit it was a little too peaceful out here. Though it felt more like a vacation than a job at the moment. Though he wasn't sure how much longer they were going to be staying here in the village. He did have a business to look after and he already knew there was probably going to be a stack of papers when he got back. "Well I don't think you want to run into a bear out here, there are a few villages sure but you never know what an animal will do when its hungry enough," Kellum stated as he continued to walk noticing the slimes as well.
new female oc.png

"Yeah there are a lot of slimes must be because of the water maybe," Kellum concluded before shrugging his shoulders.

Ryke Village - Windfall

Mathias nodded his head with a small smile. There would be further talks, but the first impressions went well that morning. Lucius would find out his men were met with surprisingly convenient opportunities that would benefit the romans' efforts. Spare building materials and tools that would save the architect hours if not days of acquisition, processing, and hauling. Good will supplies openly shared and given out to Cassius and his men in exchange for simple tasks without tension or reluctance. The barbarians were almost eerily pleasant and charitable.

The romans were not alone in feeling something different from the people. The air of hope and wishes was in abundance. The cold did not feel uncomfortable in their presence. The clouds were not gloomy within the village. The homes and buildings in repair were not empty shells, but now opportunities.

By the afternoon in the town of WindFall, lunch time had come and it was special. A day, one of many before and after, that would have been full of labor paused. When the woman folk had returned with the water, clean laundry, and a few slimes that came with, they were met by the muddy men folk that had been busy restoring the well. The damages had been repaired, but the water was foul and would need cleaned. The slimes were ahead of the people when they launched themselves into the well of their own volition. The feasted on the contaminants and any that might potentially come through after. The water drawn up afterward was the cleanest water any had seen or tasted. Rather than taking another trip to get more water for the village, the women of the town were able to spend the rest of the morning till lunch preparing a meal for everyone working hard on the village and to forge bonds with their new allies in armor.

The tavern of the town wasn't much to speak of, but it had been cleaned up and patched enough that it would hold most of the village as it was now. A hearth was blazing and kept the place warm despite the many cracks and holes in the windows or doorways. A smell of all manner of warm meats and vegetables and bread mingled among the villagers that were barely cleaned up enough to be indoors. Mathias was there with his big, black fluffy hat. He opened up the lunch hour with a speech of gratitude for everyone present with extra praise for those that came along on the trip or offered their services after the fact.

The lunch was a spread. How the cooks pulled it all together was a mystery. Roasted birds. Savory soups. Crisp bread baked. Steamed vegetables. And fruit pies. The afternoon would likely be full of naps, but everyone was in good spirits and drinking great water in comfort and jolly singing. A few men could play some instruments and increased the merriment as a few other villagers started to sing merrily. It was such a good day, even the old man Mathias started doing a jig as only the old man could.

All characters are present or invited if they wish to abstain from the gathering. Those present would immediately be encouraged to join in, have some food. What songs do they know? Can they do the Ryken shuffle? What about the Seyhia Swirl?

Teuihua couldn't remember the last time he had partaken in anything like this. Usually when people were having festivities except the ones celebrating combat he was left to his own devices, but there he was enabled to partake in a celebration like this. It had been a many years since he was on, so as it turned out he was actually quite hungry. It wasn't exactly like Teuihua experienced sustenance the same ways as other did, but when he was created, his creator had allowed him to consume food much like an offering of sorts to the statue body that housed and protected his soul or accurately spark of life. Of course Teuihua wasn't going to turn down this opportunity, even if part of him felt a bit anxious like he needed be guarding the border from his civilization's old enemies. But for now he stood outside of the tavern, not exactly wanting to intrude too much in on the space if he could help it feeling like his size already was somewhat of an intrusion.

If he could get his hands on some food however then he'd feel much better. For now he listened in on the ongoing festivities, and see if he recognized any of the music, but so far everything was just so foreign, even the common language sounded like perhaps it was different from what he recalled, which linguistically would have made a great deal of sense given how many years off he was compared to everyone else. Even so he was pleased to have interacted with the priest and helped to move the objects around, and done whatever else people needed help with that they trusted the construct to do so he could feel pleased about that.

The romans didn't turn down an opportunity to join the festivities, particularly once the smells of roasting meat, baking pies, and simmering vegetables wafted their way down to the house. Lucius would have found it distasteful if they didn't venerate Bacchus with a proper celebration to consecrate their new venture. After finishing up a small shrine to the gods in their new home and getting a good head start on the repairs to the roof, they turned in to join the festivities. After a heart warming speech by Matthias the group of romans raised their cups in cheer and broke apart to grab food. Before long they were back together, conversing in a mix of Latin and common as they drifted in and out of the groups of villagers. As the dancing began the Romans broke out in songs in Latin. They had a bawdy and raucous tune to them and generally added to the air of cheer and merriment. Eventually they even joined in to the dancing.

Kellum walked back toward the village the rest of the trip seemed rather uneventful, they went to the water source and came back. Though he was eager to get back to the city he didn't have much of a chance to get out before the party started. At this point, he knew that he wouldn't be able to leave until it was over. After all, he didn't want to be seen as a rude person. Plus he figured that others would be leaving after the party anyway. There was probably going to be a large stack of papers on his desk. Chisato would no doubt badger him about getting the paperwork done which he wasn't looking forward to.

So there he was sitting in the corner of the tavern watching the festivities going on. He grabbed food and sat down at a table watching as the new villagers started to dance about and sing. Taking a bite of the food that was on his plate, he saw the new village mayor drumming his fingers against he table for a moment he let out a sigh and walked over to the man.

new female oc.png

"Well looks like the people are starting to get settled in or as much as they could for now with the condition of the village," Kellum stated as he took a moment to glance around the room to see what his companion was up to. "But I do have a law office in Ryken so if the village needs my services don't be afraid to reach out," Kellum stated with a smile as he saw the large golem standing outside looking rather lost. Excusing himself, he made his way out the door toward the golem.

"Now what seems to be the matter my rather large friend you do look a little lost," Kellum inquired as he waited to see what was on the golem's mind.

Shei
sheet2.png
When they came back they could see a fixed-up well and a lot of tired dirty people, the well water seemed to be still contaminated and Shei worried that they were going to need to make more trips, fortunately, the slimes they brought with them cleaned it. She drew water with other villagers using her water affinity to make the process faster, people needed to drink, wash and they could use it to cook later. She heard ladies talking about cooking a feast for the people and asked to join in and learn how to cook the local cuisine. Before they got to work she came to the children they brought the water with and asked them if they would like to decorate the village for the celebration promising them a water show with her magic as a reward, just some small tricks she hoped they could make the kids happy. She cooked with the girls and when the time for the celebration came she joined people dancing and singing feeling a bit stupid but doing her best to learn local songs and dances. It felt great the happy villagers the dancing romans, yet some weren't there with them which worried her. They had the right to not participate but they also deserved a reward for their hard work. She took a tray and put some of the different kinds of food they made. She walked outside noticing a golem and Kellum speaking, she thought she has seen the human somewhere in a tavern but was sure that golem was not it with his size he'd be hard to miss. "Hi, you guys helped a lot do you not want to join in the celebration even for a little? Everyone would love your company. Or maybe at least try some food we cooked? It's really good I recommend trying." She asked politely ready to leave if they wanted her to, she didn't want to intrude on their conversation or bother them if they needed fresh air. It would be sad if they did miss their reward, it's not often you get to experience all this.

Teuihua looked a bit surprised to be addressed by Kellum just like that, turning his head rapidly to face him, shifting his body only slightly as he stood in place. "Oh, I hope I'm not being a bother, I just haven't been around many people for many years and I am enjoying the festivities right here, really, it's been a very long time since I've gotten to take part in such a celebration of good collaborative work with such caring people..but I'm afraid with my size I'll just get in the way of everyone's good time, so I've been standing out here, if you'd like me to move somewhere else I'll gladly comply." Since people had been so kind to the golem so far he continued however,

"But to be honest, I'm also just, very hungry. I'm not sure how many years it has been since I've last taken an offering, but since it sounds like the people I've spoken here to so far are unaware of my civilization, It sounds like it's been much longer than I could have ever imagined." The golem paused for a moment before continuing,

"I apologize if I've already rambled too long" The Golem tentatively shifted a bit in place, the voice while having a very unique foreign ancient dialect to it, sounded genuinely apologetic, even if his mouth didn't move. He didn't want to leave things in an awkward silence however so he continued,

"What about yourself? What brought you to this village?" The question came from a place of genuine curiosity and interest in Kellum, as the golem shifted to more formally face him now. But then the golem heard Shei which was a surprise,
looking over towards her, rotating his body to better face her too, to be polite before he a bit bashfully said, "I would uh..rather enjoy trying the food you cooked, and getting to know you all more if you really wouldn't mind having me around.." Once again Teuihua felt very fortunate that such a kind person had arrived on the scene, it really was counterintuitive to what Teuihua remembered from his time in a lot of ways.

Hathaway
Novama Novama
Hathaway needed a breather after his cleanup within the Church and this dinner they were having was the exact thing he needed. Watching the hustle and bustle of the people around him, a smile grew from his lips. To see so many people lightheartedly enjoying themselves would surely put any onlooker at ease as well. This was always especially the case after a hard day's work. The feeling of mutual suffering was an all-timer in getting people to get along. The fact that they had done work to help would also be a pleasant bonus.

Sitting at a table with a half-eaten plate, Hathaway sipped a bit of alcohol from his cup. Of course, being the devotee that he was, he didn't let himself get out of control. However, it didn't hurt to have some fun every now and then. Speaking of which, he couldn't help but notice the head of Windfall also having a good time. It reminded Hathaway of the speech the Village head had given earlier, which in turn brought to mind the safety of the village and it's future.

After taking another small sip of his drink, Hathaway stood from his seat and weaved between the constantly moving bodies that surrounded them. "Mister Mathias! I'm Hathaway Peacecraft. nice to meet you. The work you've organized here is incredible, I have to say I admire what you've done." He placed a hand on the oldman's shoulder to get his attention, while raising his voice to make sure he was heard over the noise. "If your people are ever in need of assistance, I'll be glad to help at anytime. You can come into contact with me through the Church. I may not have much of a high position at the moment, but I hope to gain enough influence over time to give aide. One of the places I want to help is this village. After all, Windfall should be able to prosper even more than this."

Kellum heard someone approaching them as; it was the woman he was with earlier as she had come up to speak to them. "No, I was eating food inside the tavern earlier, and I spoke to a few people, and now I'm out here. I'm not one for large parties don't care for them," Kellum explained as she glanced back into the doorway. The celebration seemed to be in full swing by this point, but he preferred to be outside and away from all the loud noises. Letting out a sigh, he glanced up toward the sky; compared to the last time he was here, the sun was up, and the memories of the rats ran a chill down his spine a little bit. There were a lot of them. The whole well had been infested with them.

As he turned to look at the Golem as the creature spoke up. "No, you're not being a bother; I was simply coming out to speak with you. You seemed alone out here, so I figured I would join you. If it makes you feel better, I typically don't go to celebrations, so it doesn't matter much to me. But I doubt anyone will ask you to move," Kellum concluded before taking a deep breath as he folded his arms across his chest.

"Well, that is a bit of a story; the long version is that I was here investigating the village when we found it abandoned. There were rumors that a plague had broken out, which was not the case. By the time we arrived, the whole village was gone, and we eventually found out what did it. A man that could control rats, so I'm here just to make sure everything is safe, especially along the road." Kellum explained as he glanced toward the well.

Ryke Village - Windfall - Tavern

maxresdefault.jpg

In full swing, the party was a success. The optimistic spirits of the villagers only soared higher at the prospects of their new neighbors and new starts. It was quickly apparent most wouldn't be fit to work the rest of the day, but it didn't much matter. All had full bellies, close family, and roofs over their heads.

Decorating much of the tavern were collections of frost lilies gathered by the children Shei convinced to help setup and decorate. They chilled the air around them and appeared as if they were made of glass. Their sparkled and smelled faintly sweet. It was a nice add to the festive atmosphere.

Titus, as expected, proved he could hold his liquor well and had no shorter of drinking games to play and other rowdy behavior. His charisma did not go unnoticed by some of the village women. Cassius was one of the first to have a bit too much to drink and started making a fool of himself. It was all in good fun, but Titus could barely stop laughing at this side of Cassius and swore to remind the man of it whenever possible. Marcus stayed near Lucius and refrained from drinking around so many strangers. He would eat and drink water sparingly while maintaining his scowl that kept watch for the whole part. Only on occasion could someone catch him tapping his foot to the music before he grunted and stopped himself.

While her master was away, Chisato would play. Blowing off some steam of her own, she would dance with the other women in the village. They were like flowers. As they twirled to the music, those with skirts had them flare out and twist. Chisato would be asked to dance by many of the single men. She was not particularly amazing at dancing, but it was as if she was made to follow a lead and was very good at that.

Mathias would slow up to catch his breath and speak with Hathaway after he had found it.

"Thank you, young man, for your efforts. The village truly appreciates it. How are the reconsecrating efforts for the church house going?"

Needing a drink of water he would grab a cup for himself, which he immediately downed like a shot and passed one to Hathaway with some encouragement.

"Drink up. I'm not sure which god we have to thank for the luck we've been favored with this day, but it only fitting the men of the cloth are treated well in the stead of their masters."

Meanwhile, outside the weather was cold enough to be a nice reprieve from the tavern as it became warmer with the festivities. The air was brisk and the sky was clearing. What a good day.

Verde has taken the time to just relax for once. He was not an active participant in the party as others would be. But the atmosphere was different for him, where he came from parties were not a commodity, alongside his kind being quiet in comparison to the humans and various races in this town. The dances were different, not even a sign of ceremonial garb in sight. It felt as if he were in a different world just being in the tavern. Even deep down he felt a familiarity to this, he was still unsure how but he wasn't going to let the good feeling get away this time.

"Maybe a drink or two won't do much harm. Best take advantage before I'm on the road again." He decided to grab a mug of whatever was being served. He was taken aback by the heat that entered his body from just a small sip. "A drink that makes you warm?" Verde muttered, silent for a moment, but slowly he felt a grin forming on his face. A slight chuckle escaped him "Yeah this ain't too bad at all."

Teuihua looked back at Kellum and would have smiled at him if it could convey a change of face. "Oh to speak to me? Thank you." The golem replied with a positive voice intonation feeling reassured that he wasn't going to cause problems where he was currently standing, towards the end of the sentence he did pause for a moment however, before listening to what Kellum had to say as to why he had come there. He let Kellum speak and once he got through the story which he claimed was long, Teuihua nodded. He was also glad that it didn't sound like he was disturbing Kellum's time with their conversation since he mentioned hat he was the biggest fan of gatherings like these anyway, so that made the golem feel a bit better too that he wasn't being as intrusive as he could have been otherwise.

"I had heard speculations about plagues on my way here in passing. I appreciate your efforts to come and this village, it is admirable, I had similar reasons for wanting to come, it sounded like people needed help and they did not turn me away so it seemed like the perfect opportunity to carry out one of the primary functions my creator wanted me to fulfill, I find the idea of someone who controls..rats doing all of this , concerning.. I hope that this individual can be subdued.."

Teuihua rotated his head to look at the well too, before looking back and continuing, "Also, my name is Teuihua..It's nice to meet you," The golem paused once more as to give Kellum time to respond if he so desired to the prompt for a name. Teuihua knew well enough that learning people's names was a good thing in general, and he was trying his best to be polite, he hadn't had a conversation with many in who knew how long.

Lucius Gallicus

Lucius laughed and drank with the other romans. He knocked back alcohol as well as Titus, though he didn't approach any of the women in the village. He found himself singing and dancing along to some of the world's strange and new songs. He was surprised that Marcus even tapped his foot. Though the old campaigner tried to hide it he thought the man might have been enjoying himself. Maybe the veteran would not have approved of all the drinking and dancing with the locals, but it wasn't like they were on campaign again. The thought of the campaign became suddenly very sobering however, and slowly he stopped dancing and singing, before going to sit down with the older roman. He once again found himself amazed that they had survived. Jupiter had intervened to pull them in just the nick of time and now they were here. He paused to look at the other soldier and then raised his mug to the man. "Ad eos qui ceciderunt Marcus." Then he took a deep drink of the ale.

"No one would mind having you around, you helped a lot I'm sure villagers appreciate that." She smiled putting the tray outside for the golem, he said he wanted to enjoy the food but it was clear that his big size would make it hard to move around in the tavern. It was really kind of Kellum to come out to the golem, she was glad that everyone could have fun at the celebration. Since they seemed to be having a conversation she decided not to bother them too much and took some water from the well, she promised a small water show to the kids and she didn't want to disappoint. She took a small amount of water and came up to the kids gathering them around making small water figures dancing with them and doing whatever they wanted. When she was done she excused herself finally taking care of what she came here for, the niece of the lady she nurtured, and why she stopped writing to her. She walked up to Mathias asking for a bit of his time, her expression saddening. She asked about the niece of the lady she nurtured and what happened to her.

Ryke Village - Windfall - Tavern

maxresdefault.jpg

The party lasted into the afternoon and many bonds were forged. The fledgling village had a hope and shining start. It was very thankful to those that helped make it possible and would strive to become a place many would want to call home.

The End
