Graded [The Underbelly] Thief's Wonderland

In the Underbelly of Ryken...

1644554138394.png

Arthur was about to leave when Rowan wanted in on the action too, he stood beside the door watching this woman rough this asshole of an elf up. This elf, Setzen, Arthur would remember his name well. Anyways Arthur was disappointed he wasn't able to rough this elf up more to get information out of him, Arthur was definitely not afraid of hurting people and it seemed neither was Rowan. Even confining him into a small space for the most part of his little torture session, Arthur was enjoying watch this guy get hurt, beat and closed in, a shame it didn't last longer. But one thing the one-armed man had to give credit for was he was trying to fight back, attempting to bite Rowan when she got her hand a bit too close.

Once Rowan was finished and walked out of this dingy house with him, he closed the door behind them and could hear the man flop down on the ground, the barrier being released and allowing the man to be free once more, he probably only laid there in pain of the beating he got from Arthur and the confined space of Rowan. Arthur understood why Rowan did what she did, she couldn't afford to look weak in Arthur's eyes and even down here, a sign of weakness can be exploited as quick as you letting your guard down for a single moment. No matter, Arthur was glad to see Rowan do this, he hoped to see Rowan prove herself more capable and willing to take care of herself without him.

As the two walked through the Underbelly, they see many different sights, women and men selling themselves to keep themselves alive, homeless trying to sell whatever junk they had to try and make a living while surviving this terrible place. Kids conning adults out of whatever they were carrying whether that be tricking them into letting their guard down to steal from them or beating these adults down with weapons to steal their possessions. Arthur felt nothing for these people, this was the way of life, he has been here before in their shoes. He knew what it was like trying to survive day by day as a child, but that was before he was indoctrinated into working for a gang.

1644556490017.png

Eventually Arthur and Rowan would get to some sort of marketplace, here it looked like chaos had swept through, on the ground was the body of a bandit with their throat slit and frozen ice around their wound that moved up to their jaw then inside, to prevent breathing and block the airway incase somehow the victim survived. People were passing by this dead bandit that laid in the middle of the street, it looked like most of his possessions were already gone, the only things that remained were old, strapped down armor and clothing, terrible looking tattoos on the body. Arthur moved over to this body, kneeling down and moving the body over on it's back. " Ice. The same thing our suspect has used to obtain what we are looking for. " Of course, Arthur was not about to blurt out what they were looking for. Hell, people were already starting to notice Arthur due to his arm rather than his clothing. The former hitman looked at the wound of this bandit, " Throat sliced open. Ice covering and freezing the airway to prevent the victim from surviving. Our suspect is very good at making sure their victims stay dead. They are a killer. They will not be afraid to put us down. " Arthur looked around the scene, there was a lot of footprints in this small area, a splatter of blood from the slash that looked like the weapon used was chained rather than having a handle. The splatter was curved and not straight like a knife would produce.

Looking up Arthur saw the marketplace in disarray, stands were flipped or destroyed, some people were hurt, Arthur pointed in that direction and stood up, following quietly after the destruction, wasn't hard to follow where these people went. People were gathering around some of these stands to either help or 'help' these people. Can't trust anyone down here in the Underbelly. Eventually the two would find an alleyway where some more civilians were looking down, there was still sounds of banging and shouting. Looking down the alleyway Arthur would see two bandits banging on a door with terrible looking weapons. Arthur looked at Rowan and nodded, walking down the alleyway, these people were chasing someone, and Arthur wanted to know who, it could be the person he was after. The bandits looked up seeing the two approached and stopped. " Well, lookey here, got two lambs to the slaughter coming our way. " One of the bandits chuckled as they backed off the door, now the two moving towards Arthur and Rowan, Arthur looked at Rowan, he really wanted to see how capable she was, he moved his head from her to these bandits. How would she handle them? Diplomacy? Force? Persuasion? Arthur was interested to see.

In a back alley...

Clover wasn't exactly happy that she was kicked, even though she took one of the bandits out there was still two in her way and two behind them, four to three minus one because one was useless to the other two. Making this a two on four, counting all these bandits were armed with weapons and she was the only one with an actual weapon. The white clothes assassin would feel her chain get tugged on momentarily and see that Rudolph had taken her other half of the chain, letting it go for him to have more slack now, on Rudy's side an icy blade would manifest on the end for him to use now. Clover saw one of the bandits on her side, step forward.

1644558208848.png

Attempting to strike with the three pinned against each other, one of Rudy's side, stepped forward brandishing a sword. Taking a couple steps forward and swinging down at Rudy, who was able to move out of the way. When Rudy moved and threw a punch at the attacking bandit, Rudy's punch connected and actually stumbled the man to the side who fell onto one knee. Behing Rudy, Clover pulled on her chain a bit that caught a bandit's club. She then kicked him in his stomach that knocked the wind of them, having them drop the club. Clover moved away now holding a crude looking club, tossing it to Francois. " Help out will you, old man. " Clover stared at the two bandits still, one without a weapon and one with one. This wasnt a good position for these two since Francois was armed with one. (Weapon is rank F since it's a crude and old weapon.)

They now had the upper hand thanks to their patience and these idiots impatience.

Rudolph did not have much time after his punch before he felt the tug on the chain. He didn't resist, rather he let his fist be pulled to the side to give Clover the slack she needed, letting the chain uncool around his fist so that it could slide easily through. The movement was not a wasted one... as his hand moved to the side, so did the chain, and the knife that had been on the hand came return to Rudy as a result.

Now... it wasn't like Rudolph hadn't been in any fights before. He had many times. He was a ruffian, after all. Somebody even tried to stab him before. But back then, it seemed to have taken all he could. Here, something felt different. Something WAS different. The more he moved in this world, the more he could feel it. He knew how hard he could hit... and it was never that hard before. Even after all the running he did carrying fatass, he didn't even feel tired. In the contrary, Rudolph still felt like he was full of energy. He felt stronger. He felt faster. Even with all that was going on, his mind felt sharper. Able to keep up with it all and still be able to think. Surely it wasn't natural. But he sure as he'll was not about to complain. Why though? Was it something the dream world did to him? Something this place did, or maybe that strange old man gave him? Whatever was happening to him, wherever it came from, it was a blessing. He needed all the help he could get.

With deft movement, Rudolph snatched the kunai that was at the end of the chain out of the air. He didn't want to kill the man... he didn't really want to kill. But he wasn't about to hesitate when his own life was one the line. These guys wanted to kill him... and who knows how many others were on their way. If they couldn't end this quick, one of those swords would find its way into his gut. He did not like that prospect. And he couldn't afford to trust that the man would be kneeling longer than a second. So Rudolph sliced out with the knife across the man's face. Hopefully putting him down for the count.

Attack Summary
Attacking the same target, slicing the knife across the kneeling man's face. Simple.

f584ec68f72c27ec0211be1da63ef917.pngThe battle was growing more and more hectic, yet they were gaining ground. At the rate they were going if nothing got in the way it seemed they would be victorious. However as time went on Francois found he could not avoid fighting he still stuck to his hit and run tactics but he couldn't skulk around any longer; they had wisened up to his plan and he had a few close calls and some extra bruises to show for it. Francois stepped back after smashing a bottle over one of the men's heads. He turned his gaze to the boy and found the boy doing quite well for himself despite a lack of formal training the boy was a storm which battered anything that got too close. The Thief was working surprisingly well with the boy as they rarely got in each others way despite sharing a weapon. Maybe the Thief was more patient and reasonable than he originally surmised, or maybe this is a testament to the boys adaptability.

Francois was breathing somewhat heavily when the Thief tossed an object to him. Curious he caught it easily enough and examined it realizing it was a club taken from one of the corpses of the bandits. He blinked at it for a moment until the Thief urged him to directly join the fight. Francois had avoided it as long as he could but even one such as him understood necessity besides he was old not weak. He hefted the club like a bat and made to circle the last of the bandits he moved himself closer to the unarmed one doing his best to sync up with the Thief on their assault. He calmly moved up to the the bandit and with a bit of effort swung the club in a wide arc at his head. Francois wasn't one who rushed to get his hands dirty but in this instance he would make an exception.

Walking through the town left a bad taste in her mouth. Whatever semblance of normal she had was pushed aside for the flat expression that she had learned to put on her face. She had sympathy for the people, but couldn't express it- as it could mean her and Arthur's lives.

Her professional opinion of the men said they were on the warpath, and that meant they weren't going to respond to just talking. Arthur was still wary of her, and she needed to make an impression on him. Not to mention they were threatening her- and she didn't respond well to being threatened.

"Watch our backs. I'll get them in a position for you to interrogate them." Rowan told Arthur, her attention zeroing in on the bandits approaching with malicious intent. She spoke the spell out loud, her hands casting at the pair of thugs. Her focus started to burn, a sign she was overtaxing it, but at this point, she had to go big- considering Arthur wasn't going to help her out.

A translucent barrier encircled their heads, cutting off their air as it covered their mouths and noses like a vacuum-sealed bag. (Mass Blackout - Magic Affinity D, Barrier Affinity F, Incapacitate Affinity F, Magic Range F, Magic Targets E, Magic Duration F -Grade D- 2 Post Cooldown) The bandits started to claw at their faces as they started to slowly suffocate right before their eyes. IT was extremely uncomfortable to watch the men, their muffled screams a clear tell that she was torturing them. They would see her blank-looking face concentrate on them, even though a part of her wasn't a fan of the torture. No matter how many times she had done this before, it still felt wrong. Killing a person quickly was the merciful option in comparison to effectively choking the life out of them.

It wasn't a skill she was proud of having, but it was her one secret weapon. A particularly close call on a mission and an accidental use of her powers had shown her the skill. She didn't practice using it often, but a basic knowledge of humanoid biology meant that she knew that it was an effective way of committing homicide- if not shutting down an attack. Maybe someone with advanced breath control could beat the attack, but for most people it was quite effective. Maybe it was going a bit too hard, but she wasn't that subtle.

When the bandits started to weaken, wobbling dangerously as they started to loose consciousness, Rowan would react, grabbing whatever rope and rope-like object was around. The men fell to the floor and she reacted, tying them up just enough to hinder them before dropping the bubble. IT was close- even a few seconds longer and they'd be dead, but she released them just in time. IT took a bit of time, with straining on her part because Arthur didn't help her lift the bodies, but she had the men hogtied on the floor, barely breathing but still alive, with breaths and a pulse. They'd awaken sooner or later.

"They're all yours." Rowan told Arthur, waving her hand with a flourish at the two men she had subdued, two fonts of information for Arthur to interrogate once they started to stir. Her magic catalyst felt off, but she had poured a ton of magic into it, and she would have to stop and get it fixed. It was still useable, but wouldn't work as well as before. Either way, she stepped back, allowing Arthur to do his thing while she kept watch.

As the sound of leather shoes echoed with steady rhythm from a nearby tunnel, a white figure in a black suite emerged yawning heavily as he pulled on his black-dyed gloves. He had a E-grade Shortsword strapped to his waist tapping against him in beat with his walk, As he came Into the light his appearance became more apparent he looked pale extremely pale white almost ghostlike with heavy black bags under his bloodshot eyes. he Had white scales peaking out around his neck covering most vital locations and the fingers of his gloves looked pointed almost like he had claws underneath his gloves, as he got closer it was apparent his pupils where a glacial blue but was slit down the middle with black almost reptilian.

Baxtor Yawned again cover his mouth with one hand before looking around. The underbelly... the place where scum and the unfortunate reside, this place made his skin crawl not because of the uncleanliness and disease but because of the memories of a past life and the time he was in their place. Baxtor pulled at his right glove making sure it was tight before pulling some extremely small and thin papyrus and a pouch before taking some herbs from the pouch crushing it then rolling it up in the papyrus. he was lucky to find some wild tobacco outside the city because of all the habits he had before only smoking was the one he wasn't willing to give up just yet.

once he was done rolling it he picked up a rock and pulled out a flint putting the cigarette in his mouth and striking the two together, once it was lit he took a deep drag holding for a second before breathing out in relief. putting the flint away and tossing the rock away he made his way to the marketplace, He was told by a teacher to check and/or join Rowan in the hunt for the thief. to be honest he could care less but more knowledge and skill was always welcome and who knows what's in the off-limits section. as he made it to the marketplace he saw disorder and conflict not to mention rowan and arthur as well. Baxtor sighed exageratedly muttering about how peace never seems close at hand before shouting to rowan and arthur "Ey! Do you guys think you will need a third?" as he pushed his sword out his sheath slightly with his thumb to make drawing it easier.

Within the Underbelly...

Arthur was about to conjure a weapon up into his hand when Rowan walked pass him and decided she would take on these two, even telling him to watch their backs. The one-armed man didn't like being told what to do but complied, most likely he wanted to see what this hired muscle could do and would do. So, he watched with anticipation while being sure to look out for anyone that tried to get close, he had a wry smile on his face as these bandits, with their overconfidence, had it all seep away when Rowan used a powerful ability of hers to bring these two to their knees, suffocating all the air from their lungs.

This brought him back to a job he once did, he had to throw a body in an aquarium, but the man had to be dead beforehand and had to suffer. So Arthur was hired to take the job, he used a plastic bag to slowly suffocate his victim then had help take the body to this aquarium and throw it in, it was to send a message to someone from another family, they killed the son of another Don. Safe to say a war started and easily Arthur and his family won. It brought him back to those terrible time.

Coming back to his surroundings he faced the entrance of the alleyway, where a strange looking man came to confront him and Rowan. Arthur's arm glowed momentarily as a small broomstick conjured into his hand, ethereal looking with a purple tint to it. Spiritual Ordnance: Basic (1 post cooldown.) He pointed it at this new stranger, " Who are you, and what do you want. " Arthur demanded, but he saw the badge of the Ryken Academy on his chest.

Lowering his Lupara, Arthur knew this guy was with them, the badges they gave out, even though he did not have one, were not so easily replicated. When Rowan gave him the okay to interrogate their new prisoners, Arthur turned to face Rowan. " Watch the newcomer. " He commanded as he now faced the two bandit prisoners. After a pretty brutal and short interrogation. Arthur got all the info he needed. So the real thief was a woman in white, that informants info was true. These bandits were hired to steal the orb from her, they could do anything with her as long as she was killed afterward.

Someone else wanted the orb and whoever it was, did not have a real name and did not meet them in person, a smart one this contractor was. They would have most likely killed these bandits afterwards. So Arthur did it for them. BANG! BANG! Without hesitation Arthur fired into both heads, then he looked to Rowan and this newcomer, " Come on, academic. I'm surprised you haven't been mugged yet or even killed. Rowan, watch him. If he does anything stupid, hit him with your barrier or suspend him in one. " Arthur instructed as he walked pass the two. Showing no respect for whoever this new guy was, then again Arthur had little to none for most people.

Following the instructions from the bandits he was given, he walked back through the marketplace to another alleyway where he would find bandits had surrounded three strange looking characters. That white clothed woman, a strange and fancy looking teacher he actually knew and some guy that looked like he did not want to be here. " Hey. " Arthur called, the bandits facing away from Arthur looked back at who was calling them. Arthur still holding his Lupara smirked, his cold eyes still having no emotion. He pointed his Lupara and fired at one bandit, blowing a hole into their chest. The others looked horrified at what just happened, backing off.

" Give me the Seeing Stone. " Arthur demanded to Clover, having a cold look on his face as he brought his ethereal shotgun up and leaned it on his shoulder.

End of part 1.

Isekai Hell RP Grade

Summary: We are about halfway finished with the thread, we had new characters join throughout the rp and overall, a lot of worldbuilding has been established. Above is the clean and lawful city of Ryken, below though... Below is the Underbelly where criminals run free and there is no law, the Seeing Stone was taken from the academy and brought down here, for we do not know why. There is a lot of corruption, poverty and opportunity in the Underbelly and the characters participating have not faltered. Bandits were fought, an elf was interrogated, and betrayal may be at hand. We still have a lot to go through but overall, thank you for participating. Now for rewards.

Arthur (Narration Bonus): 66 points

Rowan: 37 points - Catalyst is broken when Mass Blackout grade D was used, catalyst is E grade.

Rudy: 42 points

Francois: 29 points

Baxtor: 1 point
