Aria's floating blade was fast, but it lacked the accuracy necessary to fully block the Monster's invisible attack. The blade connected with something solid and a sound like metal on rock joined the Monster's echoing dirge. However, the creature did not falter and was able to connect with Aria prior to her teleport. Blood sprayed and splattered the monsters face and nasty jaws as it took a chunk out of Aria's shoulder (you decide the arm. Injured in this way, she will likely experience reduced effectiveness in combat. She will also be at risk of more permanent injury or worse should she continue to fight.). A wicked tongue audibly slirped and licked at the blood on its face and the rain was quick to delute and wash away, but not before giving Alanna and Aria something to swing at the in the dim light. Unfortunately, the rain pelting their faces coupled with the barely visible Monster meant both their efforts would come up short on the surprisingly spry creature. Alanna's spear thrust did connect with the creature, but it was glancing blow and returned no blood nor spilt any. The creature's body was very hard, as if it were wearing armor. It's attack concluded, it would disappear into obscurity. Unlike when it was standing next to the 2 woman, it did not leave tracks when it seemingly left. The mirth was somewhat discernable in its haunting tune that continued unceasing.

The woodland demons emerging from the pool stopped exclusively flowing into the 2 rivers heading for the villages. Instead, some diverted and started stumbling toward the row of soldiers and adventurers that joined them. While Finn, Xach, and the soldiers did their best to hold the line, it was apparent they were in for another repeat of what happened on the first day of attacks on the village. Overwhelming numbers were bearing down on them. The soldiers, in particular, lacked efficient means of dealing with the demons quickly that didn't leave themselves exposed to the growing numbers of attackers. Xach and Finn were in similar situations. Simply swinging their swords was not enough to kill a sufficient number of the demons to keep themselves from being at risk of overrunning.

In the brief moments of Steven taking action, his appraisal ability had little time to give him much information at all. The soggy grounded that was becoming increasingly trampled was not a clear indicator of where something was vs where it had been. He lacked the skills necessary to discern such information. As a purely visual ability, appraisal also didn't offer much in the way of reading sound patterns or triangulating source of sound. Again he would find he did not have the skills for such advanced usage as the croak songs echoed in the space unnaturally. However, Steven's appraisal did pick up on the faintest of outlines a handful of yards away from the girls. The rain that suddenly gushed down, from the canopy above, upon the monster made the creature's outline momentarily visible. While Steven's weapon ineffectively clanked off the creature's body, he knew why.

C grade. The creature was a C grade monster from another plane of existence. Exact plane unknown. Title's suggest it is a servant of an even more powerful entity. It also seemed to relish pain and suffering of others. So much so that it inflicted it in great amounts and had the titles to back it up. Some elements of the creature were still blurred out, but Steven also noted an extensive list of magical skills in relation to its robust body. He felt working with the others would be essential to take this guy down, but Steven would note a sudden change in the monster's tune before needing to react to an unseen attack. (the nature of the attack is unknown to Steven though he may assume it is magic in nature)

Michael

4uSQijd.jpeg

The battle was growing more chaotic as Michael began to flee from the approaching woodland demon's for the 'safety' of the soldier wall. It was only a temporary stop gap, but it would give Michael a moment to consider. He could see the invisible boss and fighting an endless horde seemed hopeless. He would recall Aria's mentioning of the stones.

The stones at the center of the clearing, carved in odd runes, would glow their soft blue. The way it occasionally pulsed and seemed to be a favorite thing of the monster, made Michael think it was of some significance. Not having any other ideas to get them out of this mess, Michael dashed for the stones.

The ground was slick. He could not run at his full speed, but he did not need to do what must be done. Once he was close enough to the stones, it was apparent how big they were with the largest one being close to 2 stories tall and several times as thick as Michael. [Appraisal] showed some additional information.

They were giant stone catalysts from some bygone era. Even appraisal had little information to offer on something that was based in historical facts he did not know. Although stone, the channeling of mana enhanced the durability of the obelisks by another grade. The things might as well have been as hard as metal. Destroying them would take some effort. Behind Michael, his allies could be heard struggling to hold off the hoard behind them. Time he did not have.

"Come on..."

He said hoarsely through gritted teeth. His rain splattered face twisted into a snarl from the effort as his whole body tensed and wound itself tightly, ready to spring release. Blades were held in reverse grips which Michael personally felt more confident in. HIs mithril short blade began to grow intensely as the mana in the area gathered to him and his weapon. The show continued as blue lines of mana, like tight circuit lines on an electric board, started to course through his mundane blade. As consequence, pieces of the sword began to flake away under the strain but it held together for the moment.

"Come on..."

He mouthed again as the mana continued to condense. What amounted to only a handful of seconds felt like an eternity to Michael. Unsure of what it would take to seemingly do this impossible thing, he was gonna try giving it his all. Then blue blades of mana extended out from the real blades' tips. The longer and harder Michael focused, the larger the blades became. Finally,

"Alpha's Enchanting Replacing Shredder!" (Magic Affinity D, Magic Area of Effect E, Ability Shredder F, Artisan(Enchanter) C)

For a moment, Michael disappeared in a blue flash of light that cut through the gloom. For that moment, the deep vibrations of metal on stone like a jackhammer nearly drowned out the Monster's song. As the brilliance and sound cleared, Michael could be seen taking a knee and leaning on his mithril blade. His other blade was still in hand but chewed up as if through significant use. All the stones within 30ft of Michael were missing their tops or were sliced through several times like chopped vegetables. Large patches of grass and underbrush were also mulched in the area. The trees just behind the stones were heavily splintered and missing large sections. Both stones and lumber laid in pieces around the area.

Slowly, the dark hole at the beginning of the clearly closed over. One last woodland demon tried to wiggle out of the hole but was caught at the waist and severed. The rest of its body disappeared. Several dozen demon's dispersed as a result of the sudden and violent dispersion of the spell that seemed to sustain their emergence into the material plane. While Demons remained, their hopeless numbers were greatly reduced. Most importantly: there was now an end to their number.

As if in slow motion, Aria’s dagger had failed to pierce the bloated toad monster, her eyes widened as her sword hit nothing but rain droplets falling from the canopy. All that was seen were hundreds of sparks from the steel that all but melted on the creature's carapace. She let out a shriek as the toad shaman pierced the soft skin above her waist. She didn't stagger for very long before feeling the sudden horror of the fiend digging into her left shoulder. Aria could hear the monster's teeth echoing in her skull, as they ripped through her tendons. She looked up towards the sky as her mouth gaped in agony, releasing a horrible scream that echoed deep into the forest.
Aria would fall to her knees, her hands trembling in pain as the rain mixed with her blood as it oozed from her gaping wound. The young warrior's eyes began to well with tears as courage fled her spirit like cowardly bandits. She’d collapse on her good shoulder, trembling, crying and writhing in pain. She weakly held her sword, the blade submerged into the mud as the floating dagger returned with but a stub of steel for an edge. Her mind was filled with hopelessness as she began to crawl back towards where they had entered. She didn't know where she was going, only that she wanted to live and that meant retreating.
Aria would wince in pain as she struggled to continue her eternal crawl back to some semblance of safety, it was then that a bright light flashed before her eyes. It was the silent adventurer who once again seemed to have found an answer. Who was he? Where did he come from? Her eyes began to fade as she panted heavily, her side revealed three slashes that made it agonizing to draw breath. She gripped her sword as strongly as she could, but the effects of blood loss were beginning to take hold, although, weakly she held up her weapon ready for her final stand.

Alanna drew her spear back, tucking her elbow close to her side and holding the weapon more firmly so that she might swing with more power if need be. Her eyes darted about, looking for signs of the beast, but only found demons and rain in its absence. "Damn it." Her frustration would turn to anger however as she looked to her brave companion and saw that she had been wounded by the monster. Alanna turned on her heel and chased her down and tried to determine the extent of the woman's wounds without touching and causing more pain. She wasn't a physician, but she was familiar with battle wounds and she could tell this one could irreparable damage if not treated soon

"Don't move." Alanna's head quickly began to pivot, her eyes frantically searching for the adventurer who had healed her and her soldiers days ago during the village's defense. That was when a bright, blinding light pushed back the murky shadow of the rain. She closed her eyes for a brief moment, but in her mind she knew that it had to be the same person, the same hero. When the light dissipated her gaze settled upon him once more, but she could not help but notice the dwindling number of demons that surrounded them. Whoever this adventurer was, he had saved them once again. "The tide has changed! Fight! Fight for your lives!"

"Don't worry i won't leave you, you'll survive this." She promised before rising to her feet and taking a defensive stance near the downed warrior. "We need a medic over here!" She had been told not to share what little she knew of the, Blue Swordsman, but she knew he was a healer and this woman's only hope.

With the number of demons still standing greatly reduced, the soldiers found their second wind and let out a reinvigorated battle cry. They focused now on fighting back, using their polearms to keep the demons at a distance while they swung and tried to pierce their shells. Finally they could envision a successful outcome, they could see themselves going home to their families and friends.

Although not as effective as he had wanted, Steve still made use of what information he could get from his appraisal. His observation of the ground and music did little to help him discern the location of the monstrous toad, but due to the rain, a hint of its silhouette became noticeable. With the combined efforts from the baron's guards and hired adventurers, Steve made managed to land a blow. Unfortunately, it proved to be ineffective. As his weapon came in contact with the demon, it felt as if Steve had slashed against hide that was not hard, but extremely thick. His blade seemingly bounced off as Steve staggered a few steps backward. Driving the end of his halberd into the ground, Steve tried to reastablish his balance and footing. However, as soon as he did, he felt it. The cacophony of sound the toad was making had changed. His instincts were telling him that something was coming.

He couldn't perceive it but Steve wouldn't let it hinder him from moving. Not anymore; he had to act. Seeing how everyone around him continued to struggle despite the situation they were in pushed him even harder to simply move. Setting practicality and logic aside, they all had to do whatever they could to survive the ordeal they were up against.

Whatever it was that was heading his way, Steve would face it head on. Going low, Steve rushed forward, waiting for the right moment to slide and dodge the incoming attack. Not knowing what it was, he relied on his ability to appraise his surroundings. He didn't need to know how the attack worked. Steve just needed to know when it was about to hit. He needed anything. Subtle changes in the air, displacement of the muddy ground, brushing of foliage around him. Anything.

If successful, Steve would dodge to the side and drive the end of his halberd into the ground before swinging it forward. He didn't plan to hit their foe, but fling just enough soil to continue to grab it's attention or blind it momentarily if he was lucky.

Given the dwindling number of plant demons, it looked like their fight became a battle of attrition.

(I found this pic just for this moment.)

Seems theres trouble over yonder, a good blow on her, but she will survive, he's that much certain.... If she stopped wimpering. Come now...

Bugger, folks need more meat on their bones...

...Wait where did it go? His eyes darted around, looking towards the allies he had thusfar. Soldiers flailing and angrily shouting, stabbing with spears... He could have sworn he handed out axes earlier, worthless idiots. Sure keep the things that better kill these things back at the defenders who just need to hold out...

Finn executed another twinned strikes at a demon and eyed the surroundings... Voices everywhere, if only he could just get the fucker on him and keep him... Was it a him? Finn was not sure nor did he care.

So... how could he piss off the thing...?

His words may be enough, but something had to piss him off real good...

What pisses off musicians alot...?

....

He takes a moment to consider the music. And at a higher note, he starts his own, a song thats sort of coming from deep within that would ruin the song as best he could...

The rain dappling his form, the small voice began softly against the chaos surrounding him...

"You are....

My fire...."

He deflects the blow of a wood demon, cutting off a leg with a skyward strike.

"My one...

Desire..."

The beast lunged once more, causing Finn to quickly cut down an arm and once through.

"Believe, when I say!

I want it that way!"

Where did this song come from? From what part of his mind did it surge? It kept going, without so much as a thought!!!

It mattered little, because it was deep in his heart, and he would continue singing and slashing till the work was done!

"Tell me why!!!

Ain't nothin' but a heaaartache!

Tell me whyy!

Ain't nothin' but a misstake!

Tell me why.

I never wana hear you say-

I

Want

It

Thaat way!"

@ all present. (Finn draws aggro and maybe causes nostalgia damage /s)

Xack hacked and defended in equal measure, while he was exhausted and looked like a mud monster and kept skidding every two or three steps he managed to stay stand but making certain heavy blows became difficult and less certain the more here. As he contemplated his next plan of action he started hearing finn sing which made him freeze in defensive stance letting the demon he was fighting scrape past his guard just barely but not enough for a lethal or major blow. "Oi what ye bloody doing in the middle o' battle! ya damned blondy!!" Xack spit to the right before shouting again "We need something harder if you want some background music you twit how bout..." xack thought a moment before he started singing in a roar "all we do is work hard, play hard, push that body,oh~ heartbeats on a roll, we're nonstop cardio~!" As he ended his recent line he performed a quick cross slash swinging hard both horizontally and vertically once.

Maikoa watched the battle unfold from the tree line, her yellow eyes gazing over her fellow woodland beasts, as she looked down at her hands, feeling an innate urge to assist them in defeating the outsiders, as she looked towards the battle, beginning to approach the battle, looking over the field in search of what might be the best target for her to attempt to deal with for her allies, seeing the danger posed by what was assumedly the enemy forces leader, she turned her gaze to the redhead and the girl in green clothes.

She began to silently move through the ranks of her kin, her hair flowing behind herself as her eyes steeled, thinking the man singing useless to the enemy, beginning to look to the man with red hair, calling out to her kin in their tongue as she moved towards him. "The red haired man, rush him!" She called out, as she raised a hand, the purple fruit on her hip glowing while she moved closer and closer before casting Tangling Roots, intent on immobilizing the threat before allowing her allies to strike, quickly ducking back into the ranks of the demons to avoid being struck in return by the mans allies.

She did not understand why she felt the want to fight these people. But she did not know why she would fight it either. So she followed her instincts, because there was nothing else for her. No thoughts beyond self reflection on what she was feeling.

While Alanna and Aria moved off to the side of the central portion of the clearing, staying behind the line of men taking on the remnants of the demons, a weary and somewhat dizzy Michael would stagger over. Raising his blue mithril shortsword to his face, he spoke,

"Minor Heal" (F heal for minor superficial wounds with an F appraisal of the injury: "looks painful")

A brilliant blue light shown from this sword briefly before a soft blue energy flowed from the blade to Aria, closing up her superficial scratches. After the glow softened, Michael took a breath and steadied himself. He looked around clumsily while explaining,

"I was just able to close the wounds. I didn't give you back your blood or your energy. I don't know if you have internal injuries either. I don't have the energy to do more right now though. I still don't see that monster either....wait..."

Michael then looks in the direction of Steven. On the opposite side of the clearing, he was clearly squaring off with an unseen foe. However, Steven suddenly stopped moving and stood stock still staring at nothing. Whatever fight in him had left abruptly and without warning.

Meanwhile, the front line was having a much easier time. The demons were in disarray after the stones were shattered and one of the songs of the monster had ended. However, the sudden appearance of Maikoe turned things once again. The void left by the monster allowed Maikoe to fill it when she called to the rest to focus on Xach. In doing so, the once derpy demons, were now moving in unison to Xach. Maikoe's attack to restrain Xach would make him especially vulnerable to the demons in his already weary state if it connected. Unfortunately for Xack, he wasn't particularly built for dodging and it would be one more thing to contend with in addition to the swelling numbers of demons gunning for him. He also may have been a bit surprised as Maikoe suddenly stepped beside him to launch her plant magic.

Finn would notice that despite his song drawing the attention of many as a loud noise, his work was actually getting easier once Xack became the focus of the demons that remained. He did not seem to be a position to maintain his place in the line. On the bright side, Finn's song was met with a fading synthesized sounding back beat and rhythm from the invisible monster. It seemed amused. In the clearing that reverberated with the song of spell and music, Finn would feel like he was singing before a crowd with the band at his back. The constant patter of rain, splash underfoot, and cry of those fighting for their lives was his adoring audiences cheers.

Steven was going for another attack on the invisible enemy when it felt like he opened his eyes. He awoke from what felt like a day dream to the frantic calls down the hall. One of the patients on his floor was having an episode. It was not uncommon. Many of the young men coming back from the frontlines had similar episodes. Orderlies rushed pass to assist the nurses. If the soldier wasn't quickly subdued, he was likely to hurt himself or others, which in turn could trigger some of the other patients. Steven would be reminded they were running low on several medications. Their patient numbers grew as the frontlines of the war drew closer to the hospital, but their supply lines dwindled as much at the same time. The hospital was a brick and mortar building though, not a MASH unit. The evacuation order could come any day and it would be a chaotic situation at best. People would likely be left behind. Steven would have to redouble his efforts to ensure his department got more supplies, fewer losses, and had what they needed when that day finally came. He hadn't a moment to lose.

Steve felt like his heart dropped as he found himself surrounded nurses, patients, and physicians alike, busy and and up-and-about inside a clamor-filled hospital ward. He had come a long way in his carrier. No longer was he at the bottom of the medical food chain, tasked with scutwork and answering to his endless number superiors. He was finally head of his department and unfortunately, senior house officer for the day. Aside from overseeing that everyone's work went smoothly, he was on call for anything and everything that the floor staff couldn't handle.

Seeing one of their patients having an episode, Steve immediately responded. The sooner he did, the better their chances were to avoid incidences from taking place.

"Move and back me up!" He shouted, prompting the two orderlies closest to him while he headed towards their patient. "Get some two-point restraints ready and have a vial of Diazepam on standby!" Steve pointed to the nurses and resident physicians around him. "Prepare a single bed room closest to the nurses nation while you're at it!" Trying not to be more noticeably frustrated, Steve quieted himself down. To avoid events like the one they were having now, patients on his floor who had the risk of getting agitated had standing orders for anxiolytics. After this was all handled, it looked like Steve had to review the prescribed dosage that was ordered. if he found any miscalculations, someone was definitely going to get reprimanded. Steve had other concerns he was busy with, and something like this was preventable with a little bit of foresight.

Unlike the body he was reborn with, Steve was taller, just over six feet, and had a better built physique. However, he had no plans of making use of his strength for now. Steve learned that sudden movements and trying to overpower someone who was having an episode just made things more difficult. Medication and restraints were convinient and effective, but if possible, Steve hoped that words would have been enough.

As he drew closer, Steve started to slow down his movement, approaching their patient cautiously with both hands open, palms facing forward, and spread apart. "Easy now, Josh. You did good. We're back home now. Safe and sound, okay?" Steve kept his voice calm and just loud enough to be heard through the screams and shouting around him. Steve lead his team from the front while the orderlies and nurses were watching but from a distance just in case Josh made a run for it. From where they were, other patients were far enough to not get involved. Their main concern for now was Josh ending up hurting himself. Steve was prepared to jump in to restrain him himself, but if he was lucky enough, his efforts would be enough to calm Josh down.

"But we~ Are two worlds apart.

Can't reach to your heart~!" His voice warbled like a songbird, but his body, well, his body had business. His mind let instinct take the wheel on it, the soul was too busy accessing parts of it'self it never knew about.

"When you say....

I want it that way-

TELL ME WHY!!"

He pivoted blade ripping through the air with a yearning song of steel cutting one demon's back clear in two.

"Ain't nothin' but a heaart ache." Thr sword provided the next chorus as it ripped through another, the man wielding it in a frenzy of movement and sound.

"Ain't nothin' but a misstake~!" Again, in his whirling movements, steel bit down on a demon, ripping at the ones facing... Actually he didn't think they actually exchanged names. Whatever, he was in trouble and every part of the band picks upfor one another!

Because... He wouldn't want to hear them say...

"I want it that way!" His final syrike in the moment, his breaths becoming ragged from the sudden movement, sliced into the air somewhere behind him... From the music... The sounds...

He was certain it had to be there!!!

(Cut down three beasties in this moment of inspiration, attempt big slash on Demon if it was around Finn. If not, slice goes wide, tl dr, help Xack with numbers and attempt cut on demon if near.))

Aria

As Aria sat, leaning at the base of a tree, she looked up at Alanna, it was difficult for her to make out what she was saying as a deafening ring echoed in her head. She could only make out her features of concern, which she responded with a weak nod. She’d struggle to get up, but she forced herself to do so, if she was to die here, she would do so fighting. She finally stood her shoulder leaning on the now, blood stained tree. Her clothes were muddy, her hair was drenched as it came over her eyes.
It was then that Michael came and sealed her wounds, she was no longer dying, she felt stable but an intense soreness still lingered. She looked at him with a sort of embarrassment, and grabbed hold of him by the shoulders. He seemed like he might fall over.

“You’ve done this twice for me now.. I’m so sorely in your debt.” She’d summon her dagger from among her muddied clothes, as she shook her head, placing it in the silent adventurer's hand. “This dagger hasn't been of much use to me here.” She said, disappointingly, removing the focus, “I hope it will serve you better than it has for me.”

She quickly let go of him as they both noticed Steven paused in the middle of the clearing. Aria would then look over towards Xach who had now been entangled, and was on the verge of becoming overwhelmed. She wondered if the toad monster had cast a spell on him. Just then she noticed a change in the color scheme of the tree demon crowd, a shade of white as whatever it was had flowing hair. “There's.. something in that batch of demons there!” She called out towards whoever was within earshot. She picked up her sword, but a shooting pain went through her body from her bitten shoulder. Instead she used her other arm.

Everything within her wanted to jump back into the fray and snap Steve out of his trance, or help Xach break free, but considering the toad monster was still about and invisible she thought it a better idea to form part of Alanna's guard line.

Xack was enjoying himself trying to join finn in the sing off with one of the many songs he liked back on earth, "We're talkin, can't stop, won't stop, hustle till~- What da bloody fuck tree bitch!!". Xack started cussing as he saw the tree woman join the battle and target him. "goddamn whore! Yer Mother was ay skunk fucker!" Clearly pissed off but aware of his disadvantage Xack... decided to either get some distance or regroup with someone else to avoid getting gangbanged by a bunch tree demons. Xack looked left then right then forward and then backward "goddamn demon tree hugging bitch" he muttered noticing himself being rushed by the tree demons by the seeming direction of the tree witch. Xack decided to get the fuck out of dodge AND regroup, turning towards finn's direction Xack sighed heavily figuring his life is more important then any friction between party members. pointing his sword in front of him Xack fixed his stance before rushing himself abandoning all defense in favor of brute force, Xack knew he wasn't gonna be able to dodge anything right now with his ability impeded because he has never been confident in his speed he knew it was gonna be worse now because of battlefield conditions, so he decide to depend on what he was confident in and that was his defense, strength, and vitality. hurling hiimself into the demon's that were in finn's direction to get some much needed back up while using all his strength.

Alanna was relieved to see that the Blue Swordsman had managed to restore their companion to a better condition. They needed everyone to be able to at least run if things got out of hand. While their healer was weakened, Alanna did not want to leave his side as he had done a great deal to ensure they made it this far. "Wait." Alanna called to Aria. She quickly rushed to the woman's side and raised her arm to point at Steve in the distance. "We need to regroup or at least pair up. Could you get to him? Wake him or protect him as best you could until he wakes?" The teleporting power that she possessed was a mystery to Alanna, but if the trick could be used then she might serve a greater purpose than joining the line.

With the demons changing their targets to the noisy red head man, the soldiers were able to fight a bit more freely. They dealt final blows to their current foes and then pressed forward, still motivated by their leader's battle cry and the change in the battle. The group would follow the demons and strike them as they attempted to swarm Xack.

Maikoa began to look at the humans, realizing they'd noticed her, humming slowly as she called out to her allies, beginning to back into the midst of them. "Friends! Their wounded are just beyond these lines! Focus on the singer!" She shouted, realizing that the red haired man would be difficult to bring down unless they seperated him, believing the singer would be frail enough to bring down as she ran to the front. However, when she saw the enemies pushing through to her kin, she got an idea, a small determined look in her eyes as she called out once more. "They are emboldened! We must break their morale!" She shouted, redoubling her order. "Keep the Singers location in your mind!" She shouted while kneeling and placing her hands on the ground, her hair flowing up as the fruit at her hip glowed, energy gathering for a moment. "Brace my kin!" She shouted once more, before screaming out one last time. "CHARGE!" She shouted, casting her spell upon the grass they stood in to grow it to block the sight of those within the battlefield, knowing it would not last long, but it would allow them the chance to change target before the enemy force could reorganize to stop them., if things worked as she planned.

As Steve was dealing with Josh, he would noticed drops of water hitting his face. He would need to look away from Josh for a moment to notice the room had rain coming through the ceiling. The realization that it wasn't just some leaky pipe or the sprinkler system resulted in the ceiling fading away to reveal a dimly lit tree canopy allowing the rain through, dampening his hospital attire. Josh's excited cries and panicked animal expression grew distant as did the hospital room itself. Recollection of what he was doing and where he truly was dawned on him again like a 2nd awakening. It was all just a memory. A distant memory where many of the ones in it were already dead...

Aria and Alanna would note Steve would start to move again. They would also see Michael backing away from the clearing to put his back to a thick tree like Aria had done. He was still catching his breath and looking unsteady. It was too dark to note his bashful cheeks washed out by the blue glow of his sword and surrounding flowers.

Finn would lose his backup music as he was singing, but he found he was better able to carry a tune compared to whatever Xack was spouting before his approaching demise. Despite the singing and getting into a grove, none of the men in the line were overly efficient at dispatching the woodland demons. It was through working together that they showed results. Xack, however, was having a really tough time. Then he practically gave himself over to the enemy, overconfident in his ability to survive. As one would expect, the demons swarmed him and overwhelmed his defenses easily. There was just to many of them and he was too compromised as a rookie overextended in harsh environment. Luckily, LInneus's soldiers had somehow survived the battle this time around and were able to save Xack a 2nd time by helping Finn clear the demons off of him before they killed him.

With Xack saved, there were few demons remaining. The grass surprise was just enough to hide Maikoa and was not a wide enough area to assist the other demons in a sudden charge. The party would likely make quick work of what remained. As their battle started to subside, the quiet of the clearing started to become more apparent, and no one saw or experienced anything to suggest the Monster seemingly behind events was still around. It must have opted to flee during the fight after things turned against its favor or so would be the running theory. The party would have time to collect themselves and acknowledge their victory before they would be forced to contend with the elements once again to march back.

Maikoa felt a sadness at seeing her brethren cut down, but rather retreated herself, knowing she could do nothing to the humans, retreating towards the treeline from whence she came, running away towards the trees, forgetting her urge to attack the humans as soon as it came. Instead, her urge for self preservation came in as she ran off, glancing back every now and then to ensure she was not being followed, her yellow eyes slowly looking around the forest as she tried to seek out where she could possibly go from here. Now she had to run from this forest likely to avoid being purged by the humans. This is what her reasoning told her, but her instincts told her to stay. However, her instincts as well held self preservation, which she could feel the thoughts were most in line with, which meant vacating the forest for now to seek out a safe haven elsewhere.

Finn watched as foes began to disperse, the numbers of demons thinned and the music was gone... And in truth, all he could say was...

"..Really? Thats all? Small wonder you've survived this long coward." The man flicked his blade, traces of rot flinging off the blade upon the dirt. the blonde looked quite dissappointed with all the fighting come to a ending with no true climax. he at least wanted the beast's head! Oh well, another time, another place... But... With that said...

"Well, not a comeplete loss, the next time it shows up people will know what to expect. Proper info is worth it's weight in gold they say! Hell, what with that move Michael pulled there we found a way to seal that big ol pit it opened. Might even not be able to get more of it.. Unless it made em.. Bah, whatever. Forcing an enemy rout is as good a victory as any!

Chin up ladies and gents, you survived your first suicide mission!" The man gave off a big belly laugh, jolly despite the surroundings. "We can send lads back for the dead, better to leave it to men with carts for that, much less identifying the poor sods. Horrible thing, but this is no place for a burial or pyre...

Though I doubt any of yea are listening anyways. Bugger it, I'm heading back, don't get eaten by wolves or something on the way."

And with a small friendly wave one would see more fit to a fellow leaving a group at a tavern, he went off into the woods along the line they came... Only real sign of that is the long trail of broken brush he himself had left... heavy armor and all.

So much had transpired in the clearing that Alanna and her men were having a hard time believing that the fighting was actually over. They had been struggling for days against an endless tide and they all thought that they would lose their lives in defense of their home, but thanks to perseverance and perhaps even a hire power, they get to go home. Alanna and her men would offer help to anyone that was injured and needed assistance making their way out of the forest. They couldn't wait to get home and tell everyone the fantastic news.

Xack Gransuke
sword, prince, warrior, general, nobleman_ clipped, this might make a decent avatar.jpeg
Xack was lying down in a puddle of mud and some of his own blood, Sighing heavily Xack slowly sat up clearly wincing in pain. when he sat up he watched the the tree witch run off while shouting after her "Bloody whore!! i'll 'member ya!". Xack spit to the right before stand up shakily with sword in hand before sheathing it and stumbling in the opposite direction of the tree witch. holding where his body pained him he stumbled off into the distance clearly upset at this clear personal loss. "better train more... screw being so weak... i must work harder...." Xack muttered to himself as he faded into the trees clearly intent on going back to civilization.

Unable to see things through, Steve's surroundings appeared to slowly trickle away, as if being washed off like mud and dirt by the rain. The memory he was reexperiencing was now but a vague blur that was left inside his hazy mind. He remembered. The Steve he was now was far different from who he was. He was living another life and had different concerns that he had to address.

Waking up and snapping back to reality, Steve tightened his hold around his weapon and braced himself for another attack from the monstrous toad, but it never came. Its presence, along with the ghastly noise it had been producing, were no longer there. "Did it just run away?" Steve curiously wondered, but only for a moment. He was aware that he couldn't just ponder on such thoughts.

Turning to his allies, he again jumped into the fray, assisting the guards and his fellow adventurers at subduing what remained of the demonic plants. One by one, a single hack at a time, they just had to persevere. And finally, there came an end.

As much as Steve wanted to bellow out in triumph as he stared up into the heavens, what came out of him was simply a heavy and lengthy sigh of relief. They finally won.

Aria

Aria listened intently as Alanna spoke, her voice seemed to re-awaken the courage within her. She gazed out towards Steve, lifting her sword with her better arm ready to dash towards the entranced warrior. But before she could do so, he seemed to stir and surprisingly returned to his senses. Aria would turn around, glancing at Alanna. “Seems like he’s awake now.” She’d wave towards him, hoping to get his attention.

Immediately she noticed the toad monster no longer echoed, nor did it seem to press its attack. The plant demons dispersed towards the trees. “Impossible..” she muttered. “They’re.. fleeing.” Her mouth slightly agape and her eyes wide with surprise. Unable to really make sense of it all she surrendered to reality as she simply closed her eyes and let out a deep sigh of relief. She’d sheath her sword noticing Michael had stepped away stopping at the base of a tree. She’d catch up to him. “I want to thank you for your help..” she looked towards the pool of blood where she’d been bit moments before. “I don’t think we would have made it without you. My home is safe again because of you.”

She took a few steps towards the path back into the forest. “Should you ever be around these parts again, my name is Aria. You’re always welcomed.”

She attempted a smile, still hurting from her injury as she started back towards her village. Looking towards Alanna, she’d call out “let’s go home.”

She’d notice Xach and Finn leaving towards the forest in the distance. “Pity, I wanted to ask that blonde knight about his song, I swear I’d heard it somewhere.”

Michael was relieved the the dangerous business was done, but he had trouble putting his swords away. Aria embarrassed him again and further made him feel a fool for not putting away his weapons when the fighting was clearly done. He had been at this adventuring business a while now. He didn't need to be acting like a shell shocked rookie adventurer. His uneasiness about a monstrous enemy that could turn invisible just wondering around and going bump in the night was the worst part.

Before Michael knew it, his allies had left and he was one of the last to leave the clearing. At the edge of the clearing, he looked back one last time. The shattered stones. The scarred ground from their battle. The spilled, diluted blood rippled by the rain. The ground around the clearing was covered in the scraps of defeated demons. The foul smell plaguing the area previously was subsiding and the eerie humming and buzzing of the monster was replaced by the gentle trickle of the rain through the trees.

"Shoot!"

It suddenly donned on Michael that the party had no means of navigating the dense forest in the dark and rain. They simply followed the demons trail to the clearing. Now that the demons were cleared out, there was nothing to follow, at least, not in the dark.

"Blue Swordsman, indeed"

Michael mused as he smirked as his weapons, taking out his mithril blades, their soft, blue glow suddenly illuminating his path. Holding one high, he too entered the dark forest in pursuit of the others who went on ahead.

Isekai Hell RP Grade
Mission accomplished for the rp. There were a handful of case where folks were perhaps doing more than they should have in combat, but otherwise, was a solid rp entry. If there was anything lacking, it may have been in the social side of things, but this rp was mainly about the defense of the barony, so it is understandable action was used to say all the words necessary in some cases. May be worth if some of the characters wished to to another rp with Linneus, but otherwise, the story is done here. Any loose threads can be picked up or forgotten as folks wish.

Aftermath
The heroes of the defense effort finally did return to Highgrove, however, it wasn't until the following morning.
The town of highgrove was damaged as a consequence of the adventurers all abandoning the village to a weakened soldier force.
The adventurers that left had to be pay quest fee, but otherwise avoided death and reprucussions. Many would be unwilling to assist the Light Barony in the future.
Highgrove would be repaired and the villagers would eventually be able to resettle with minor incident.
RedCliffe village was destroyed and the villagers would need to be resettled.
The Light Barony would survive the ordeal. The success of the defense effort would look good on the Barony and its administrators and defenders.
