Gawain.jpg
Gawain looked up from messing with his shield as he became aware of the metal Kurikara approaching him. Looking up at the larger figure he felt an odd sensation. The look on his helmet was expressionless, but the way Kurikara spoke and the slight change of tone was enough to show his concern. His comment, that Gawain was an honorable man and that he didn't want another death to weigh Gawain... it was genuine. With out thinking Gawain's hand went to the small cloth pouch at his hip that held the ashes he had collected. With a slight chuckle he nodded his head in gratitude, "Thank you Kurikara, your words show that you are much more of an honorable man then I am."

Looking past the suit of armor he watched the priest heal Ray's wound. Turning back to look at Kurikara, "She has the spirit to put up a good fight, and in our current predicament we could use any help that we can get. If she can back up her words with action then she will be fine." Worst case scenario she was an archer, that meant she should be at the back line. Either she would be able to escape or Gawain would die first on the frontline, that meant he wouldn't have to feel any guilt about bringing this random woman to her death. Of course these were thoughts he kept private.

Noticing that everyone was getting ready to head out Gawain motioned towards the rest of the group, "Let's go my friend, we have an evil to stop and people to save." It might have been a bit presumptuous to call the armored Kurikara a friend, but they were about to fight a necromancer for an evil artifact, so there was at least a level of companionship.

The march through the forest was torture. Every second felt like an hour, and the skeleton could feel his impatience return with a fury. He was actually delighted when the enemy appeared, finally the could make some progress. drawing his blade and raising his shield the Skelton selected his target. While his companions opened fire, Gawain advanced forward to meet the enemy at the front. Whichever enemy would reach him first Gawain would swing his sword down onto them and raise his shield immediately afterword to try and block what ever counter attack was coming his way.

Sophia giggled at the demanding tone the witch had. It was cute, in it's own way. Though she preferred Kalina, someone like Renee would be fun to have around as well~ "Oh, they are crystals I'm going to be using for enchanting weaponry! I don't seem to have that much magical potential, so these crystals should be able to boost my ability to use magic like a focus in order to be able to do the necessary enchantments on gear!" She gave the girl a little nudge as she stood up, saying, "And I might get your teeth checked, cutie~ Sounded like you had a cavity when you said 'help.'" She giggled again before following the group, staying close to the vampire 'for protection.'

She looked over the group of undead, her eyebrows raised in mock surprise and horror. "This feels like a really bad zombie flick." She looked to each one, a frown growing on her face, more from disgust than from fear. After all, she had her hero to protect her. At the request from said hero, she gave her a flirty smile. "For you, anything, cutie~" She lifted up her crossbow, fixing its aim on the ball of four zombies, and pressed the trigger. When it was pulled, a loud "THUNK" sounded out as the artisan was forced to take a step back from the recoil, having utilized her ability to send out one of her [High Power Heavy Bolts] to tear through the zoombie sphere.

Within the Kananto Forests...

As they made their way through the forests, Garvin overheard Kalina's comment, " Dahak knows we are coming. Gawain's confrontation of the Necromancer tells us he is expecting us as he has invited us, that little beast man also confirmed he can watch through his undead's eyes so most likely if he sees a undead he can't control, something will alert him. A sneaky approach won't work. " Garvin explained.

8:02 AM

1646708509181.png1646714018583.png

It was early in the morning and yet the forest around them was darker than a underground coffin, their only saving grace was that the priest they had along with them, Wyland, created a ball of light for them, revealing the horrors that lingered in the darkness. Trudging towards them, these weird amalgamations of undead came forth, their eyes void of life but full of death, they looked almost alive the way their eyes stared at the group, ready to kill them, devour them or perhaps drag them into a worst type of fate. The sounds that protruded from their maws were mixed with pain, desperation, and anger. Whether that was directed at the group or not did not matter, their focus was on the living and somewhat alive or even armor. Whatever these strange abominations wanted with them, this was the time to act less their fates become what they see.

1646715431425.png

Kalina was the first to act, seeing the undead closing in on them, her first bolt struck through a lame looking zombie holding a rusted and wicked looking sickle. Slamming through the skull of the undead, the animated corpse fell onto its knees and dropped onto its face, bolt driving deeper and even forcing it's way through the skull entirely until a bloody spike protruded from the back of this undead's head. Her second bolt would hit one of the two stitched zombie's head, causing the one side to fall limp forward, the other barely standing would drag it's other half towards the group at a snail's pace now, groaning in anger, swinging it's weapon around like a crazed maniac now that it has lost it's body-sibling.

stitched zombies.jpg

A strange looking undead with three arms and with what looked like 2 heads conjoined had one arm on it's right and two on it's left, the third arm being under its second arm in it's original place. wearing botched rags, stitches all over it's body, it's limbs had weapons for hands except it's lone arm on it's right, it held a warpick in one hand. The two on it's left with a spiked club on one end and on it's third arm had a axe head, spikes, and a sickle head on the end. A pitchfork head stuck out of it's shoulder for either armor or offense or even both. Kalina lunging at this undead was a mistake, the undead was able to move it's third arm and block the attack, having the rapier pierce it's flesh. Luckily for Kalina, the flesh of this undead was very decayed, causing her saber to slide through easily and poke through the undead's skull. But Kalina was hit by the undead with the spiked club, coming down on her collarbone. While not breaking anything because of it's weakened body, the spikes did pierce her flesh before it fell down, taking her rapier with it since the saber was stuck through it's arm and skull effectively disarming her, this attack would disorient Kalina for a moment but she would quickly bounce back.

Ray's breathing would slow the world down for a moment, the darkness around them still lingered even though the priest's light was helping them. strange looking eyes reflected the light in the distance, there was many of these lights out there that trudged towards them. Ray released her bowstring with a arrow at the ready, swiftly through the air her arrow flew, the twinned conjoined zombie dragging it's dead half was still angrily swinging it's blade around. While far away to not strike anyone and at a slow crawl, it was still a dangerous foe to keep alive. Her arrow would find the other half's eye socket, her arrow spiking through it's skull where it ceased it's movement and angry groaning where it fell backwards, the stitches keeping them together would rip and tear the one into two. Blackened blood fell out of the two bodies, strange looking leeches came with the blood, small in size and squirming around in desperation. The tainted blood had a very nasty smell to it, like old trash water from the sewer but with a large hint of death. A regular zombie would get too close to Ray and stumble it's way forward, grabbing onto Ray, trying to bite at her face, neck, or anywhere. Anywhere to get a bite of her sweet tasting flesh.

zombie amalgamation.jpg

Gawain had his weapons at the ready, rushing forward to the large ball of corpses in one, the skeleton knight would see the eyes of each elven corpse within this fusion stare at him. His sharp sword struck one head, blood and brain splattered onto the knight, not that it would bother the undead knight much. The pair of arms that came with the head fell limp, the rest of the arms and heads came at Gawain, raising his shield he could feel the force of arms slamming against his strong shield, pushing the knight back, he could see eyes staring over the shield at him. Desperate to beat the knight down since he wasn't of flesh anymore, they wanted to break him. Weak hands grabbed the sides of said shield, trying to yank it from him now. Angry howls and groans from this lump of cadavers would fill Gawain's ear holes, each sound different from the other, some female, others were male. Gawain would notice their strength in numbers, while they were weak on their own because of their racial strength, in numbers they were strong. Gawain would notice their lower half was a ring of legs overturning one another around them like a skirt, but using to stand was only one pair of legs, they looked weak and brittle, barely holding the heavy abomination up. Gawain would then feel a heavy slap across his face from one of the many hands, not able to see which hand hit him.

While Gawain was having a hard time with this ball of corpses, Sophia's crossbow would help the undead knight, a heavy bolt slammed into ball, ripping through the amalgamation, blood and gore spewed onto Gawain, it was wobbling around, having a hard time to regain it's balance. The main head in the middle had half it's head missing, it's legs must have been connected to that body, one leg was barely keeping it up now, the ball made groans of pain and suffering, almost like it was saying. " K-ll u-s... " Sophia's bolt would pierce through some unknown undead in the back, the silver eyes of the darkness would disappear behind the ball of corpses, the sounds of blood could be heard spraying across the ground.

1646715274053.png

Garvin had a similar crossbow to Sophia, being a larger and high powered weapon, the Hunter aimed at a heavy set undead coming holding a dull sword. he fired his weapon and a large bolt would find it's mark, throwing the heavy set backwards, causing it to crush another undead behind it. Garvin was reloading his weapon when he saw Ray in trouble, quickly the Hunter grabbed a knife from a sheath on his belt, he threw it at the undead, having the knife stab into it's temple from the side. The undead dropped dead, relieving Ray of the grabby undead. Garvin then would reload once more but have a undead grab onto him, he pushed his crossbow up into the undead to keep it's mouth away from his flesh, not ready to die just yet or turn into a undead corpse. Wyland then spoke up, " We've almost rid of these abdominal fiends, finish them! " He offered his words of encouragement, while the only thing he could do was concentrate on keeping the light up for the group, without they would be dead.

Garrett had dealt with much of the undead himself for the last week back in Kananto, he had swept through the horde without a sweat or second thought, he was a monster at that time and still was here. The executioner had his large axe ready, being the large man that he was could take on these undead. The executioner had summoned a cape of blood behind him, attached to his shoulders like a cape, He rushed forward and swung his axe wildly, giving a roar with each swing as he tore through the undead without a thought, blood and gore littered the floor wherever he glided through.

More undead came forth, but this seemed to be the last wave of them for the moment, more amalgamations sprang forth, more stitched undead were coming, smaller and more agile ones with knives for hands came towards Kalina, their heads having their heads exposed, their brains could be seeen, their bodies skinny and meek looking. Brittle one would call them.

For Ray she would see another zombie come forth, it's features told it was a undead for a long time, the lack of clothes told of it's age too. It moved towards her slowly with a broken looking foot as it limped lamely, groaning and gnawing in her direction, ready for a bite, standing about twenty feet away from her.

Renee Nyx

1646716478742.png

The witch in red couldn't be bothered about these undead, her focus was more on the Lifelend that the Necromancer Dahak had, and the flirts going on between this bug and Kalina, Renee burned with jealousy. She had her book ready, opening it, a shadow protruded from the book and surrounded Renee, blending in with the darkness around them. Renee could feel electricity flow through her hands as she wanted to strike Sophia down with a powerful lightning bolt, but instead she saw Kalina take a nasty hit from a zombie that Kalina was able to kill. Her eyes widen, that zombie was also able to disarm Kalina as well. Fearful for her sister's life now, her eyes moved to the darkness where these small little brittle zombies came, they raced towards Kalina, they looked like babies with knives for hands, the tops of their heads missing and their eyelids ripped from their heads.

Renee looked to these undead and would take her wrath out on these messed up experiments. Renee with her anger moved forward, pushing Sophia out of the way with her hand holding her book, pointing at where the babies came, there was a small group of them coming for her vampiric sister. Renee's eyes glowed a deep red. " With the force of nature, I banish you to oblivion! " Renee called, her voice mixed with the mysterious whisperings of her shadow in synchronization. Exploding Bolt - D - 2 Post Cooldown. With a flash of light that lit the forest up, a string of conductive energy flew from it fingertip and in the direction of the undead, unaware of their fate that would come. A loud sonicboom of electricity exploded where these baby undead were, blowing winds flew alongside the sound as the light died out rather quickly. The baby undead were gone and the only thing left was a crater and ashes. Renee exhaled and moved to Kalina, " Kal! Are you okay? " She asked, sounding legitimately worried for her sister, the witch had dropped her journal at her feet and grabbed Kalina by her shoulders, staring at the vampire with worrisome eyes, she could care less about the undead at the moment now.

Kalina still wasn't convinced with Garvin's conclusion. Just because their opponent might know some things or have the ability to spy on them through the undead didn't mean they'd have to play entirely by his rules. If anything, trying to circumvent such a tight 'security' would be all the more rewarding. That said, she knew too little about where they were heading towards to come up with a plan on her own, so she'd have to let it rest. The approaching undead were also a good reason to cease conversations, including the one she'd had with Ray.

After taking out 1.5 zombies, she spotted a particularly nasty looking one getting way too close to them and ended up having to intercept it, which didn't end quite well. She felt some spikes pierce her flesh as she failed to penetrate the zombie's head deeply enough to finish it off thanks to it putting its arm up for protection. Considering her rapier got stuck, she quickly switched back to her hand-crossbow and jumped back, planning to use stealth to retreat into the shadows once she bounced back from being disoriented.

Sadly enough, she'd already been spotted by more undead before she could do so. She tried reloading her crossbow as quickly as she could, which wasn't easy with an injured shoulder, but she hadn't much better options. A bolt would still only take out one of those fuckers though, so she had to come up with a plan C quickly. It was too late for stealth, too difficult to counter...

That's when she heard the words of a chant, followed by a loud explosion of electricity that wiped all those small undead away, along with the ground they'd been standing on. After the initial surprise, she could feel the witch grab her shoulders. Particularly the one that'd just been pierced could be felt quite easily when grabbed, making her flinch a little. “I'm okay... Thanks to you.” She replied, gently pushing away the hand that was grabbing the injured shoulder, but then pulling her sister in for a quick half-hug with her uninjured side. “You've gotten quite a bit more powerful, that was amazing~”

After that brief moment of respite, she straightened up and looked around for any remaining undead. “Let's finish this quickly.” Kalina didn't quite like looking at these gross abominations, so she'd rather finish them off quickly. Whichever one was nearest to her would get another crossbow bolt through its skull.

Ray watched as the zombie she had shot at went down after Kalina took out one of its heads, her face remaining unfazed as the merged zombies split in half upon death. Though it wasn't what she was used too back on Earth, plenty of undead corpses were mutilated or pummeled to varying degrees - most of which had heavily desensitized her to the horrors she had come to readily expect in her past life. Her fingers reached back to her backpack to grab another arrow, though her ears heard the footsteps of another zombie closing the distance. This zombie reminded her of the ones she often killed on Earth, walking towards her as if a normal person would... Aside from the limping that is. It was faster than the other zombies had, and it was already too close for her to shoot. Once it had grabbed her she fought it off the best she could, using one of her feet to kick its leg and force it to stumble. It bought her some time, though she couldn't fight off the zombie for long without a viable weapon. The gnawing feeling of death grew as she kept kicking and fighting against getting bitten, progressively losing the fight and feeling panic set in as its blood soaked teeth drew closer to her flesh - covered in dirt and grim as it pulsed with life and grew tense as fear began to kick in. This was her death? After spending so much of her life surviving the hell that consumed the Earth? After nearly dying earlier that day only to die a worse death?! As she closed her eyes in preparation for her infection and demise she felt blood ooze down her arm, though the absence of pain left her confused. Her eyes opened shortly after out of curiosity to find a knife protruding from the zombies skull, looking briefly to Garvin and giving a thankful nod before pulling the knife right back out - giving the zombie a hard kick away from her before pocketing the knife for now and pulling the arrow back with the bowstring. With so few zombies left, Ray shot three more arrows aimed for the skulls of whatever undead were still close by. Two of those shots were well aimed and directed at a merged zombie, while the third shot was aimed at a zombie approaching Renee - though the shot was far from clean thanks to the further distance alongside the direction the zombie was walking.

Right now was one of those moments that Gawain was already dead, it meant he couldn't smell and it meant he wasn't as disgusted as he would have been in life. Covered in rotten blood , facing down a horrific abomination, voices screaming form multiple mouths to kill them was certainly stressful. In his struggle with the dead who tried to rip his shield his way, the bolt of Sophia managed to weaken it forcing it to loosen it's grip. It was there he noticed a weakness in the corpse, it was hobbling on one leg. That was his chance to end it, he could kill it there.

Growling at the abomination Gawain went on the offensive once more, "Rest now." Swinging his blade in a low arc he went to sweep out the leg of the creature with his sword. If it fell then he would raise his blade and stab it downwards, aiming for it' s heads. If even that was not enough to kill it, then he would use his shield as a weapon, bashing it downwards in a combination of sword and shield to slay his foe.

The artisan was already drawing back the string for another bolt, her claws going to work winding the windlass as another held the crossbow and yet another stood ready to load it. However, as she was drawing it back, her eyes searched the area, looking at the zombies and making sure none got too close to her, and trying to figure out which one should be her next target.

She finally got the string into position just in time to have to shield her eyes as the witch fired the bolt. She once the boom had quieted, her crossbow went down, her eyes once more trying to pick out any undead that either seemed stronger than the others or closer to a person less defended. Her eyes fell upon Garvin, who was grappling with one of the undead, and as quick as she could she swung her crossbow around and fired directly at the zombie's head.

OOC Notes: Assume Kurikara is dead or has abandoned the group until EMIYAman comes back, he's been quiet since and may have dropped out. Also with the video, start at 2 hours, a banger there.

Within the Kananto Forests...

As each minute passed, the undead that stumbled forward in there groups got thinner and thinner as the group made their stand, the light the priest, Wyland, was holding still it's light brightly. The priest had both eyes closed as he concentrated keeping the light bright, he had full trust that this band had the situation under control and it seemed they were each doing their part in this stand for their survival. The weirder and stranger zombies got less and less contrived and disturbing.

Renee Nyx

1647144788862.png

When Kalina pushed her hand away gently, the witch, Renee, had a saddened look upon her face, despite being thanked. She was beginning to feel as if the only person she considered friend and even the title sister, did not want her anymore, Renee wasn't angry, she wasn't rageful, or even understanding. Just... Just... Sad. Despondent. Renee released Kalina, about to pick up her journal, wanting this journey over so they could go their separate ways. But just as the witch moved, she felt a arm wrap around her small frame and pull her in as a half hug, Renee looked up at the almost foot taller vampire which caused her hat to fall to the ground.

Renee heard the vampire whisper how proud she was of Renee, this would plaster a smile of happiness and approval on Renee's face. She even brought her arms up and tightly hugged Kalina, someone she hadn't seen in years as she had just met Kalina not even a day ago. Her best friend. Renee rested her head on the vampire's good shoulder, she didn't want to let go of the vampire, despite her body being cold as a corpse. " Of course I would get stronger, Kal. I told you I would. Thank you, sister. " Kalina would remember how Renee wasn't able to use magic back in that church many years ago and how she struggled being a witch's apprentice since she couldn't use magic. But now Renee is able to show her skill in battle and how devastating her magic is.

Renee released Kalina upon her letting the witch go, Renee now having a large smile on her face picked up both hat and journal. Wiping mud off the powerful catalyst, shadows seeping out of the books. Renee made sure her large hat was on straight before opening the journal. There was a couple of undead corpses heading their way, while Kalina shot a bolt through the first's head, Renee opened her journal, the entity within the journal lending Renee it's power. Using that power she was given, Renee held her hand as flame ignited that she poured mana into. The flame grew bigger in her hand as it was now a small fire. She saw one more undead coming their way, using the fire she fired a small ball of fire at the undead, her bolt of flame slammed through the lower jaw of the undead, knocking it down from the force, fire then ignited on it's head eventually burning it's brain away. (Fire Bolt - E - 0 post cooldown.)

1647147557592.png

Garvin would notice Ray's nod and exchanged another nod, while reloading his large crossbow a undead tackled him and tried biting the Hunter, he was able to push the crossbow into it's mouth and push it back, luckily he was bigger and stronger so he had little difficulty dealing with them. Garvin kicked the undead's knee in which brought it down to a knee as to continued trying to grab Garvin, who pulled brought his crossbow back like a club and swung it with enough force that ended up breaking the crippled zombie's jaw, splattering bone and gore across the ground, Garvin then brought his foot up and stomped down on the head that caused the head to explode under all the pressure.

1647149491066.png

Gawain and Sophia had the large ball of elven corpses under control, especially as Sophia's bolt flew through the undead amalgamation's body again after she was done winding it up. The corpse got weaker which was enough for Gawain to then attack now. Their grip on his shield weakened, this was the opportunity for Gawain to use his sword. As he swiped his sword into the weak leg of the elven ball, his sword would then cut the leg of the ball off even with hardly any strength used, the sword would go through the leg. Knocking the dead down to the ground, the heads that remained continued to growl and moan. " Ki_l U-s, E_d IT. PL_ase. " It was begging to be killed, Gawain would feel hands grab onto him as he stabbed his sword repeatedly into this body. The hands would slowly get weaker and release Gawain as he kept attacking the corpse, upon using his shield to help him put the corpses out of their misery, the hands repeatedly got weaker and weaker as the sounds got quieter and quieter. Eventually Gawain would no longer feel hands touching or grabbing him as the sounds died down. Now looking at the bloody corpse, Gawain would see flesh exposed and brain exposed, faces split open or crushed, bone laid bare, eyes staring at the skeleton knight. He was even covered in the tainted blood of this unfortunate group of victims.

1647149555525.png

Ray's could see fewer silver eyes in the darkness, they were almost done killing them for the moment. Her arrows would find their targets, quickly dispatching of the zombies in the darkness, the noises they made slowly got quieter and quieter as more were killed, they would soon become more and more safe as more and more of the dead died. Ray would even see the torrent that was Garrett, the whirlwind of death, moving his way through the dead with his axe, a cape of blood following after him that sliced and cut through the dead like his axe. Eventually he would come to a screeching halt in front of Ray, staring down at her through his executioners hood at her, quietly huffing and puffing as he held his axe. He was covered head to toe in blood holding his executioners axe that looked jagged and broken but it was still a good weapon to use. The cape of blood rose up into the darkness from his collar behind him, as Garrett stood up straight, the cape of blood disappeared into thin air. The tainted blood that was littered on the executioner's body absorbed into his body through his clothing. Ray would be able to see a sliver of Garrett's eyes, they were silver pupils with blackened eyes. Almost similar to the undead they just killed, he let out a long sigh staring at the woman. " You almost died, but yet you are capable of fighting these undead. You have the look of someone who has seen the dead rise. " Garrett spoke. " Your eyes are untrusting and you look dead inside. Don't yet lose hope, woman. " Ray would notice the blood covered axe he held begin to have the tainted liquid move up the handle and into his hand where it disappeared, cleaning his weapon for him so it won't break down.

Finally all the undead in the area were dispatched, killed, dead. Mangled bodies littered the ground all around them, corpses that were either burned, blown away, stabbed, slashed and pierced. Blood and gore matted the ground as it looked like the grass around them began to wither and trees were getting discolored and now dying, this blood was as dangerous as those strange purple zombie globs that the Harbinger had summoned the day previous. The leeches that came from within the conjoined undead that both Kalina and Ray killed began slowly moving away into the darkness, away from the group of zombie killers. The light the priest had glowing died down a bit that was now lit up around the group, Wyland let out a sigh of relief. " Good job, your group is very capable of dispatching undead efficiently. No casualties too, well done. " Wyland had a large grin on his face. Renee didn't really bothered by the undead and was more happy about Kalina's approval of how much she had grown since they last met years ago. Garvin had a nod of approval as he reload his crossbow, wiping any blood and gore off. " You guys did very well, we are getting ever so closer to the tomb. We should continue before- " Garvin was cutoff by the sound of a bell chiming.

In the darkness they would see a figure glowing out there, holding a bell as it closed in on the group. The figure looked very familiar as it closed in, wearing armored robes and cloak with a hood along with a mask, eyes glowing purple underneath the mask. " Ah, hello, death squad. " It was Dahak, Gawain would be very familiar with his look since he had a good look at the necromancer. Garvin quickly aimed his crossbow at the necromancer and fired a powerful bolt through the necromancer but it went on through without a problem. The necromancer chuckled, " Come now, you wouldn't think I'd be so foolish to show myself before you? Knowing you are here to rightfully destroy me, eh? " The necromancer stopped in front of them all, he was ethereal. A vision of Dahak was what they were staring at. Standing at a tall 6' 2", looking down at them all besides Garrett and Kalina.

1647151727818.png

" You are all here to eliminate me I see, but do you even know why you are trying to stop me, hmm? " He asked, " Besides your own foolish ambitious goals that is. It is fate that has brought you here, just as fate brought me here to this world. A new start. " Dahak chuckled. " And yet, you all try to come and stop me from achieving my goals? No matter, I want you to come and try to stop me, that way if you do I know I am not worthy of this second chance given to me. Ah, you don't know what I am talking about anyhow. " Dahak explained while shaking his head, " I do have your small little beast friend here. The fool still left you to come to me. Anger is a great manipulation tool, otherwise, someone as calm and intelligent as he wouldn't have fallen for such a trap. " Dahak laughed, soon enough he calmed down as he walked around the group, all eyes on him. " You want this, don't you? " He then presented something to the group, holding out his hand they would see a amulet, one that Gawain would recognize as the Lifelend.

1647152089125.png

" The Lifelend as I call it, thanks to Dovus. The poor sap no one liked so he had to hypnotize everyone into obeying him. It's strange seeing how people of his stature, no one liked him, his own child hated him and his wife was unfaithful to him for many years. But that changed when I allowed him to steal this. The man was power hungry and immediately flipped that piteous town on it's head. " Dahak continued to speak, the Lifelend glowing every so brightly as it moved on it's own. " Humans are a very strange bunch. Evil at nature but yet they are pure. A balance of the two within man but yet it is up to them to use their nature for their own desires. Powerful they are. Very powerful. They can change the world. One man can. Can't you believe that? " Dahak spoke staring at his amulet, then his eyes moved up to the group. " Fascinating, eh? " He asked.

The artisan's eyes flicked from her new party members to the weirdo who had appeared in front of them, without a body as well. Her foot tapped as she tried to understand, before finally giving up with a sigh. She walked forward, her arms crossing as she stared down the specter. "Excuse me, sir, I'm assuming you've been causing all of this... ruckus?" She motioned around her, as if bringing attention to what had happened.

As she continued to try to understand, she continued speaking. "I can't really say that I know what's going on, since I just got here. But I truly don't think that someone could bring together monsters and humans and be truly doing something right. If people can truly lay down differences to kick your teeth in, you might need to look inward at what makes you a screw up." Her claws started to click together, as if she was trying to ball up her fists, annoyance growing on her face. "Your goals are worthless as well, if you use people like puppets against their will like those zombies. If you see someone genuinely in pain like that and still decide to use them to whatever ends you please, well, in my mind you've already proved that you you're not worthy of whatever twisted second chance you got. You aren't worthy to lick the dust off the boots of many of the humans you've insulted, sir, let alone the monsters here who decided that it was right to push away nature for the good of others."

She crossed her front arms, her back arms still clicking their claws together by her side. "And yes, a single man can change the world. But a person should strive to change the world for the better, or not at all. Too bad it seems like, with the way you're going, using the souls of those who have passed on, you seem to want to change the world however, ignoring that sometimes it's better to leave no mark on the world than to leave a bad one. I mean, I don't know if you're going the Hitler route, but I would hope that whatever fucked up mentality you have still has a bit of what made you a person. Because if not, then you're not even the same person anymore. Your second chance isn't one. You're a husk, with no hope of getting a second chance as a man." She didn't seem to think about the slip up she had made, or cared, as her words just needed to be said to give her peace of mind.

Kalina had quickly made full use of the situation, as Renee's fallen hat meant she could sneak in a ruffle through Renee's hair whilst they were hugging. From being unable to use magic at all to obliterating undead with various spells; Renee really had come a far way. Kalina recognised that well. She did wonder how Renee's other quest was going, but finally realised something the very same moment. It'd taken a while for her to connect the dots, which wasn't like her usual self, but she finally gathered why her sister was so eager to face this necromancer in the possession of an item called the Lifelend. It sounded like something that would bring a person a fair few steps closer to immortality.

On the topic of the necromancer... After getting rid of the last few undead, a bell chimed, followed by an ethereal image of the necromancer. The dude was almost as tall as her, which was a rarity, but the latter didn't distract her from what her [critical] nature made her assume; namely that this was an attempt to delay them or to set them up. She whispered to Renee “I don't trust this, so I'm going to sneak around and check our surroundings.” after which she used her [stealth] to hide in the darkness. Her [darkvision] would give her an easier time to see without Wyland's light magic, so she could sneak around with relative ease.

Although she'd remain close enough to be able to sprint back towards the group if they or she herself were attacked, Kalina would start sneaking around in a wide circle around the area. She was on the look-out for anything suspicious, whether that was magic being charged or activated, new sets of undead sneaking up on them or anything else that looked like it'd been set-up against them. She didn't necessarily have the best perception, but her own talents at [concealment] and [disguises] at least made her aware of how she'd hide herself or objects in this environment, which gave her a bit of an idea what to look out for. At the very least, she was curious where the bell sound had come from, so she carefully made her way towards it whilst investigating. As a result, she didn't hear a whole lot of the speech that was being given.

She did manage to hear Sophia give a lengthy speech. Her shoulder, mildly wounded as it was, was aching a bit, which in turn made her want to drink blood to make it go away. She shook her head. Now wasn't the time to get distracted thinking about food just because it was giving a speech in the background, far enough away for most of the words to go unrecognised. Besides, she had a weird feeling that she'd have to be careful of who she ask for blood in this odd situation, not in the least because she didn't want the priest or Ray to catch her in the act. Anyhow; focus. She had an area to scout for whatever might be done whilst the necromancer was keeping the others occupied with his speech.

Gawain.jpg

The flailing stopped, the wails fell silent, the ball of corpses no longer moved. Gawain slowly stood up, his sword and shield both smeared in tainted blood. Blood, brains, and bones were splayed out on the forest floor before him. He was covered in it. The remains of these poor souls who had been fused together. They begged him to kill them as he slaughtered them. He had set them free, and yet he felt terrible. His memories of the past reminded him of people being beaten and begging for mercy, begging for life, begging for him to stop! Never before had he had someone beg him to kill them. Was this why he was brought here? Was this why he was given a second chance?!

Turning to look back at the group he saw Kalina and Renee hugging, the brothers and Rey giving each other uplifting words, and the bug Sophia enjoying her success. He alone felt misery, a broken heart for the dead around him. He was alone in his sorrow. It wasn't just sorrow for the dead he had, it was sorrow for these people. This was what they had to deal with. This was the nature of this world, a world forever stuck in the same circle. He had taken everything in his first life for granted, and was realizing more and more how lucky he was. Unlike them he did not grow up in a world of mad men raising the suffering dead. Turning away to face the forest Gawain prepared to keep marching.... then he appeared.

Dahak, the monster behind everything made an appeared just to taunt them. What Gawain felt when Dahak first spoke wasn't anger like Skeleton thought he would, but confusion. Fate brought him to this world.. a second chance? It couldn't be. Was this monstrosity just like Gawain, someone who was brought to change the world?! This was hs way of doing it! By causing so much suffering! Gawain's bones creaked as his jaw clenched together. He couldn't decide if he wanted to scream or puke. He had a torrent of words ready to spill out, but someone beat him to it.

Gawain watched in amazement as Sophia stepped forward and began her monologue. His respect for her rose immensely and the skeleton had realized he judged her to wrongly on his first encounter with her. She was a good person.... did she say Hitler? Unless there was some kind of important person named Hitler in this world she must have been from his world, just like Dahek. Gawain couldn't help but chuckle lightly to himself.

Stepping up next to Sophia, the Skeleton raised his shield before him. Partially as a method of defiance, and partially to use it to shield his insect companion in case Dahek used his magic. Gawain knew he could stand a blast from Dahek, he wasn't even about to try and test if Sophia could. "What is fascinating is that you were given a second chance and this is how you spend it. You are even more pathetic then Dovus. I had set out to take your head in vengeance, vengeance for a little girls who life you stole for no reason other then spite. Now I see why I am actually here. If it your fate, the fate of a dead man borrowing a second chance for his moment of glory, then it will be my fate, a dead man who is burrowing his own second chance to stop you. "

As Garrett came to a stand still in front of Ray she instinctively backed up, almost bumping up against Renee. The man before her was certainly intimidating, though whether intentional or not she didn't seem to care. Intimidation tactics were only a means to an end, whether it be deterring thieves and raiders from attacking you to actively making people piss their pants out of fear - just to warrant a reason to laugh in the hellhole that was life on Earth after the apocalypse. She rarely used such tactics, as it only brought more unwanted attention to whoever used it. Her eyes barely noticed the blood on Garrett's armor and axe as she watched the others finish off the remaining members of the small hoard, but his words brought her attention back to him.
"Hope? You'd better save those words for someone who actually needs them." Ray retorted in an irritated tone. "Surviving the hoards of undead back home was enough hope to keep me going. Any hope beyond that is just wasted effort, vulnerable to the inevitability of betrayal and the cruel fate of having to watch your loved ones die - unnecessary deaths fueled by greed and selfishness, or because they were foolish enough to become complacent and lose their edge." Ray stated blatantly in front of the group as a whole, though not loud enough for Gawain to hear her very clearly. "Living to see another day on behalf of those who died is hope enough for me still. I appreciate the concern, but I wouldn't be here if I had lost hope along the way." Ray finished as the last undead fell silent, her feet swiftly taking her to the corpses to retrieve her arrows. One by one she forcefully yanked all four arrows used out of their skulls, listening to both Garvin and Wyland give their congratulations to the group - though Garvin's words were cut short as Ray picked up on the chime of a bell.

Dahak. Words could not begin to unravel Ray's thoughts on the man, confused at his undead appearance but the capacity to speak and reason like a normal human. Her face however was not so convoluted in how her thoughts ran, utter disgust and hatred filled her gaze with the uncharacteristic passion to stab him senselessly - though her body slowly moved on its own to reconvene with the group. Her hatred only became more apparent as Dahak delved into his monologue, though her mouth stayed glued shut as to avoid poking the sleeping bear. She had no clue what the man could do nor how to avoid it if he attacked, with the best she could do for the moment being to keep an ear out for any unwanted visitors.

The red witch stared at this Necromancer that appeared before them in a vision, Renee knew that this magic was active upon seeing them and feeling the mana, Garvin's crossbow was proof of that when he shot a bolt through the undead. Renee's interest was peaked by this necromancer appearing before them, what was his reason to? He could continue to bring more undead for them to fight, it would be a good wear down tactic for him to use. " Hey Kalina, do you think something is up with this guy appearing? " But instead, Kalina had whispered that she was going to do her usual stealth vampire thing which gained a nod and sigh from Renee. " Just be safe, Kal. " Renee said a little worried as she ended up disappearing into the darkness, Renee looked back at the monologuing necromancer, talking about humans and their power, but then... Then. THEN. There it was... The Lifelend. Renee's eyes lit up and widen, it looked extremely powerful, she was immediately intrigued by this artifact, this thing was able to control undead and even course and mess with conscious undead like Gawain and Kalina. She wasn't even listening to Dahak anymore, her eyes stayed staring at the amulet, she wanted it... It could be a key to her goal. Immortality.

1647489186543.png

Dahak was staring at his Lifelend, while they couldn't see it, he was smiling underneath his mask seeing the almost alive amulet. Dahak heard Sophia begin to speak, his purple eyes looked over at the bug woman, he listened closely to what she said, this caused Dahak to let out a sarcastic laugh. He disappeared in a mist then reappeared beside Sophia staring down at her, " Please, miss. Do not try to play up like you're a noble and powerful warrior. " Dahak shook his head, walking around her. " No. I rather not care for the opinion of one such as you. One that does not understand what my goals are. Please, you know nothing of these fools I have placed under my tutelage, or slavery if you think that is what I am. " Dahak spoke, disappearing then reappearing next to the two stitched zombies. " These two were brothers that used to rob people on long stretches of carriageways where the law of this country reached, in the blinspots of the law they struck. One day the two brothers robbed a carriage and while they were holding it, one got attacked by a smaller figure. The other ended up killing that figure, it turned out to be a little girl, out of panic they ended up killing the entire carriage then burned it down before running. Eventually they began to blame each other for what happened then they ended up killing one another. So now they are conjoined for a better cause. " Dahak explained.

Once again he disappeared and reappeared where the ball of elven corpses were, crouching down next to the bodies. " This was a tribe of elves that hated humans, they would capture and torture humans not that far from here. They did terrible things, very prejudice towards anyone not elf, but because humans mainly live in this part of the world, here we are. They each have many human lives on their hands. A few villages came together and attacked them all, killing them all and leaving their corpses to rot. Instead, I would give them redemption, to work for me and feel the pain of what they are. One thinking conglomerate with the same idea. Now they're dead. " Dahak finished as he stood up, " These people are not innocent, believe me. " Dahak chuckled, phasing out to appear in front of Sophia staring at her. " My goals are more important than yours, I have goals that yours can't aspire to be as impressive. " The necromancer would ignore the rest of what the bug woman would say until he heard the name Hitler.

Dahak immediately snapped his neck to Sophia, almost like he was in shock. " What did you say? " He asked, " WHAT DID YOU SAY? " He repeated closing in on her, crouching a little to stare into her eyes. " I've lived here for over six hundred years and I haven't heard that name since my last life, that name doesn't exist here and yet... You know it. " Dahak stood up straight smiling under his mask, while it wasn't able to be seen, it could be heard in his voice. " You are like me. You will be a perfect experiment. " Dahak pointed at her, his eyes looked over to Gawain who spoke next. Dahak chuckled evilly, phasing out to appear before Gawain. " Ah it is you, you with that ridiculous holier than thou attitude you've conjured up. " Dahak stared at the skeleton. " Dovus was pathetic you're right. But it is more of... Is than was. " Dahak spoke. " You'll see what i mean later. " Dahak chuckled evilly. " As for his family, Dovus tore his family's minds asundr, thanks to his influence over them and turning them into what he thought they were. He... Reprogrammed them i guess you would say, he wiped their memories and turned them into puppets. When the amulet was removed, they were reduced back to their state of being mindless puppets. That's no life for anyone to live. Don't you think? " The Necromancer asked.

His eyes looked next to Ray, moving to her, he stared at her and looked her up and down, " Hmm... A regular human with almost no magic it looks like. " Dahak leaned in a little too closely, " You could be a new fresh addition to my concubine. What do you say? I could save you from a very painful death unlike this gaggle of dullards you are with. " Dahak offered her smiling under his mask. " You're nothing but a fiend that turns it's ugly head to burn away the world! " The priest, Wyland spoke up, pointing at Dahak who stopped his perverting of Ray to look at the priest. Phasing in front of the priest, Dahak shook his head. " You're from the Church of Golden Wings? Your order is as corrupt as the Ryken Hierarchy. What you do to the people in your church, the abuse that goes on in there. Who's the real fiend here, especially when one ignores it, such as yourself. "

Kalina, as she was snooping around in the dark, she would see a strange form rising out of the ground through the dark, a large beast of a undead. It seemed that Dahak was stalling them through dialog to summon this large undead that looked intimidating, it wasn't ready just yet but it could be a huge threat, luckily for Kalina, Dahak was very arrogant and very talkative otherwise he would have noticed Kalina gone, hell, he probably could know where Kalina was with the Lifelend but thanks to the group distracting Dahak, he didn't notice. He loved to argue with people it seemed. But this zombie being resurrected was a huge concern, even though it was not ready just yet, Kalina had this info now, it was up to her on what she should do. This zombie was rising about one hundred feet away from the group in the darkness, thanks to Wyland who had his light at a radius of twenty feet for the group to see. Only it's back was rising out, it would take it probably two minutes for it to fully rise.

Kalina ran into exactly what she feared she might run into. A springing trap that Dahak was buying time for. She quickly glossed around to see if there was any way for her to stop this summoning, but without seeing anything obvious, she decided not to waste time and gave away her position for the sake of calling on the others. “You guys might want to come help me kill this, before it'll be ready to come and kill us!” After calling out to alert the others, she'd try to get some damage in first, not wishing to waste any second of time that her early discovery might have bought them. With its back being exposed first, its back-spine might make for a very good target to be hit by a [Forwards Lunge] with her rapier. Followed by a regular strike to further try to stab straight into the zombie's spine, hoping to do enough damage to render its lower body useless or at the very least less useful. She'd keep targetting the same spot if she'd be quick enough to do so.

The moment the zombie would look like it was starting to be able to move around, however, she'd hastily retreat using her [Hide The Evidence] to back up into the shadows, hoping to avoid having to face the zombie before her allies were there to take the hits for her. She was by no means willing to risk going against it one on one. She would much rather try to back up and hide until someone like Gawain could come and take the brunt of the attacks. She'd try to keep running and hiding if the zombie was focussed on her, but would draw out her crossbow if one of her allies were to get its attention instead. Once (or if) it was no longer focussed on her, she would shoot crossbow bolts at its head, hoping that the same weak-point displayed by other zombies would also be one in this giant monstrosity.

  • Forwards Lunge: – Fighting Style [Precision Strikes] E, Accurate F, Penetrating F – Character lunges forwards to strike at a target accurately and with full force. [Accurate] - the technique makes it so the target's speed is treated as though it were reduced by 1 letter grade. [Penetrating] - weapon can ignore armours of similar or lesser grades and still hurt target. - Grade E – 1 Post Cooldown.
  • Hide The Evidence: – Stealth D, Concealment F, Disguise F – Character quickly hides and disguises any incriminating evidence of a crime that might be upon their person. - Grade D – 2 Post Cooldown.

Two of her arms still crossed as she said, "You, sir, are disgusting. Crimes against humanity? Cruel and unusual punishment? If you know the name I said, you obviously know what those are. We come from a time where torture because of a person's actions are deemed wrong, and yet you parade yourself as some sort of moral superior because you think that you are somehow above us? Really? Hell, even if their crimes are horrible, execution should be the maximum punishment. What you did is cruel and disgusting, and as someone who was previously a human, I would have thought you should have at least had a moral code. However, it seems the power you have gained has rotted even that bit of your humanity away. If a person is begging to be killed, what you're doing is no longer a punishment. It's inhumane and wrong."

She picked up her crossbow, glaring at him. "If you think your wishes, your expectations for what you want in the world are more important than others just because you've lived in this place longer than any of us, just because you've been given a second chance that I myself share, then you're delusional. If I have to give up any semblance of being a good person, of being someone who cares for others, just to have 'goals more impressive' than my current ones, well I'm sorry, but I'll keep with my current goals. At least then I could live with myself."

Her eyes flitted where the voice came from, and she decided to ignore whatever response might come from the projection, blowing past him as she made sure her next crossbow bolt was fitted. She came to a stop as soon as she saw the large shape and, after swinging her crossbow into position, she fired.

Gawain locked his gaze onto Dahek as the enemy prowled around them, yet he was more amused then anything. Dahek's ramblings, his outburst, and his ideas of justice were laughable now. Gawain the skeleton had no more words to waste on Dahek the necromancer. The idea that those people did anything horrible enough to be turned to undead slaves and twisted abominations was no more then a sick joke. They deserved to pay for their crimes, but not like that. Even if Dahek was right about Dovus's family and they were mindless puppets, they could have found a new purpose. With time and care they could have regained what was taken from them by Dovus. In a world of magic wasn't anything possible? Well it wasn't now since Dahek had stolen that chance from them.

When the voice of Kalina shouted out Gawain looked past Dahek to the direction of the noise, he couldn't see well so he would need to get a closer look. Following Sophia he pushed past the image of the evil before him, no longer bothered by him unless he showed himself in person. Even then his heart was set and he would brave past any foolish move to try and control him once more. He had fallen for Dovus's trick but would not fall to the Lifelend's influence once more.

Running forward his darkvision allowed him to peer through the shadows and witness the rising of the massive undead. He arrived in time for Sophia to fire her crossbow and witness Kalina trying to strike the creature before it rose. Dashing forward he raised his sword to pierce through the zombies flesh, trying to deal as much damage before it was summoned.

Ray watched and listened as Dahak seemed to lose his cool to the speech Sophia had given him, though she only recalled the humanoid-bug-creature saying the name 'Hitler'. She had only heard that name a couple of times back on Earth, primarily by some particular religious nutcases who had presumably gone insane - stating that the zombie outbreak was almost as bad if not worse than Hitler. Judaism was what they called their shared belief? Whoever the man was, his name also seemed to hold importance to Dahak. The two of them had come from similar worlds, or perhaps even the same world, and yet the necromancer before her had turned to evil in pursuit of his dreams. Creating undead out of corrupt moral beliefs and a twisted sense of justice. She was far from a role model of what good morals and justice looked and acted like, but becoming an undead was too cruel a punishment for anyone. Her restraint to talk to the necromancer snapped.
"You don't get to talk about second chances asshole!" Ray blurted out to Dahak in seething rage, her gaze as cold as ice with the cogs in her head churning out various methods of which she could use to kill the necromancer. "Who cares about a dead man with ambitions to create an army of undead! Your goals and desires are too dangerous to let come to fruition, whether in this world or the last! I already watched Humanity go extinct to the unstoppable hoards of zombies once, so if you plan to recreate the tragedy I had to survive through you'd be better off shoving your head up your ass! People- No, THINGS like you don't deserve to exist in any form of reality, so you'd better be prepared to fight against the sole survivor of an entire world of undead fucks that make you seem like a goddamn saint!"

By the time Ray had finished telling Dahak off, Kalina's call to the group was as good of a reason as any to break away from Dahak's presence, taking off her backpack and carrying it in her hands before opening it up. She hastily pulled out a camouflaged jacket and slid her arms into its sleeves, zipping it up and putting her backpack straps over her shoulders again. With her bow at the ready she ran towards Kalina as [Fast] as she could, with the jacket providing her some semblance of [Stealth] to better approach the monster being summoned. Her eyes glanced over to Gawain and Sophia attacking the creature already, alongside Kalina whenever she wasn't being stealthy herself. Ray decided to [Jump] into a nearby tree and started jumping from branch to branch, eventually getting the high-ground at around 15 feet high and hopefully out of reach of the monster. Without much more hesitation and a good vantage point, Ray shot off two arrows in quick succession.

Renee Nyx

1647837389303.png

Renee stared at the floating Lifelend, while she couldn't grab it or touch it while it floated in Dahak's hand, Renee could feel its power nearby, this thing was what she has been looking for. A way for her dream of immortality to come true, as Dahak phased and teleported around, Renee would move just to stare and gawk at the amulet. Renee wanted it so badly... So damn badly... They were close. Her dream would be easier to achieve than she expected. Renee would care less as to why Dahak was doing this, these zombies were of insignificance to her, she was after something else entirely.

Next was Kalina, calling go each of them to come to where she was, which did grab Renee's attention, looking up to where she heard her sister calling to them. Renee followed the rest of them, Garrett, Garvin and Wyland following after them, the light still enlightening the area.

What they came across was the large back of the undead getting ready to rise out of the ground to attack them. But it had seemed her sister was correct on leaving the rest of them to see if there was anything out there, Dahak was only buying time it seemed. She watched Kalina, Ray, Gawain and Sophia attack this large figure rising from the ground. " Wait, guys, something doesn't feel right. " Renee spoke.

---

Dahak listened to their talks which only made the necromancer watch them, " Gee, you guys are so... So... Boring. " The necromancer sighed now sounding bored. " I expected something else from you but not the lot of you being so... Righteous. It's a boring trope, overdone. Especially from the world we come from. " Dahak continued. " But you don't even know why I'm doing this. Sure it's for power. But there are so much more than you even realize. You claim i am evil, but yet, you don't even ask of my goals. All this is for a reason. A good reason. " Dahak shook his head. " I hope you make a great addition to my plan. "

1647839661337.png

Then there was a distant yell then the group went running, to where a Summoning was being conducted. And immediately they began attacking it. Dahak was quite shocked honestly, not by their analytic but by their brutality. Teleporting over to where he watched this entire group, save for Renee and Wyland, begin attacking this giant. There was groans and yells of pain. " AGH! UGAH! GRRAH! " Dahak was shaking his head. " And you call me a monster. This was going to be your guide to my lair, he just happened to be so large. " Dahak spoke to them all. " S-Stop! " the giant yelled through the dirt as it kept rising, sounding like it was in pain, but eventually it couldn't take it anymore and mustered all its pain into energy, rising out of the ground with a mighty roar, a roar so loud and powerful that it would make everyone's ears ring and even push them back.

Dahak stood there with crossed arms staring at this 17 foot tall giant. " Great. Thanks for angering him. " Dahak stated, sounding annoyed now. " Not everything I have is a monster you know, he was just a summon. Oh well. Have fun killing your guide. " Dahak's vision then disappeared into the air. The giant as it roared, slammed its large fists around the ground, knocking trees over, flinging anyone close by that wasn't affected by the roar in anger.

eede98be1a04fa4d235759ac696ba01d.jpg

Kalina would be affected by the roar, knocking her into a tree about 20 feet away, causing her should to hurt even more. Sophia and Renee would be tossed away by its mighty roar of pain, rolling across the ground around 30 feet, this would cause Renee to roll a ankle and Sophia to sprain one of her pincers (arms? Idk). Garvin wasn't far behind them, Garrett was able to hold on using his axe as a way to keep himself from flying backwards, but upon charging in after its roar, would be swept by a fist and sent flying into the air, and away from the rest of the group. Gawain would be and to withstand the roar, but was soon followed by a swinging fist which knocked the skeleton away in the same direction as Wyland, his shield holding arm, technically his forearm would be cracked. Wyland was affected by the roar then sent the same amount of distance as Renee and Sophia by away from the rest of them, his light would dissipate since he could no longer concentrate. They were lost in the dark and could now only see glowing green eyes all over the body of this giant. Ray would be thr only one unaffected, thanks to her distance and higher ground, but she would hear the ringing longer than the others.

The damage they were doing seemed to hurt the giant. It was alive! Alive! Thanks to Kalina, one of its legs weren't working when she attacked its spine. The giant itself looked degrated and pretty old. It was another amalgamation it seemed, having bodies and faces stitched all over it, faces and heads on its arms back, random body parts on its back as well. Eyes glowing green, muscles everywhere. " PAIN! CANT FEEL LEG! PAIN! " It continued to roar and eventually fell over, holding onto its leg. The heads all groaned the same, it wasn't even a hostile giant otherwise it would continue on attacking, only wallowing in its agony.

Kalina didn't give a single fuck about what the necromancer was saying, nor about what came of the monstrosity's mouth. All that mattered was that it was an abomination in the service of their enemy. Even if Dahak spoke the truth, Kalina would never trust any of his summons to guide them. It'd be best to put the thing out of its misery without thinking too much about it.

The latter proved to be more difficult than expected, as she got knocked back into a tree by its roar. For a moment, it knocked the air out of her lungs, but she quickly recovered and hid in the shadows. Her shoulder, which already wasn't feeling the greatest, was now feeling outright horrible. Thanks to her Darkvision, she could still make out her surroundings, including the fact that her attack had been working. One of its legs was taken out.

The fact that it didn't continue attacking gave them a lucky break. Kalina wasn't planning to let it go, but they'd need a better plan if they wanted to take it out. In that regard, the previous tactic of aiming for the head wouldn't work, as it had a few too many of those. She used its wallowing as a chance to sneak through the shadows, towards Renee, Sophia and Wyland. “I don't know what bullshit game the necromancer is playing here, but I say we put this thing out of its misery before he makes it attack us when we least expect it. Has any of you spotted a weak-spot? We might be able to quickly get rid of it before it counters us if we coordinate our attacks on its weak-spots and attack all at once.”

If the others were to have a plan, she'd follow along by aiming her bolts at their suggested targets. Otherwise, she'd try to sneak around it from a distance whilst looking for weak-spots or other ways she could take this thing down.

The blacksmith grit her teeth at the pain she was forced to endure, the lady checking her pincer to see that there wasn't any permanent damage. With her other pincers she pushed herself up, getting to her feet and picking up her crossbow. What came next made her stomach churn.

She involuntarily stepped back and shut her eyes as the wails came. It made her... uncomfortable, to say the least. The cries unnerved her, so many voices all calling together, almost accusingly to her ears. She took a few more steps back as she loaded her crossbow, but she didn't fire yet, instead shuddering as she looked at the monster writhing on the ground. "A-are you sure that's the right call?"

She glanced around at the others, her claws still holding the crossbow, her body tense. She wasn't sure what to do. But one thing she did know was the moment she saw the asshole who caused this, who decided that torturing people was fine as long as it continued his own perverted ends, she would do her best to put him down for good as well.

Renee watched in horror as her group attacked the beast, what were they doing? Then the roar and screaming, she couldn't hear anything through the roar, she had to cover her ears as it was ear splitting, her swore the roar of this giant could make a person's ears bleed, most likely it was heard from miles away, each head screaming in synchronization, causing the light witch to fly away unwillingly from the sound they were emitting.

Renee landed on the ground with a thud and rolled across the ground, her ankle began to hurt as she groaned in pain. Pain. Renee almost smiled at the pain as the witch rose up onto her feet. Now the screaming, the giant was holding its limp foot, still trying to get up from it's injury as it moved so... Pathetically, it actually made Renee feel something again. All the heads on the giant that were fused from different bodies did interest Renee as to how one did this. But this giant was different, it was alive, it looked rather strange, sure. But it could feel pain, it howled in pain, making it clear that it wasn't like others. It wasn't a undead.

Limping her way over towards the giant where she met up with Sophia and Kalina, almost falling a couple times as her foot throbbed. Hearing what Kalina said, Renee stared at her with disbelief. " What? No! " Renee shouted over the screaming and wailing of the hurt giant. " It's not a undead, Kalina! Look at it, its actually in pain and can't even walk! Zombies don't do that. "

Renee explained looking over at Sophia as she spoke of if they should listen to Kalina's suggestion while she loaded her crossbow, which, Renee lifted her hand and brought it down smacking the top of the crossbow, having it point at thr ground rather than the giant. " We are not going to attack the Giant. We need it's help to know where to go. We already made the mistake of thinking it was a enemy. "

Renee shot a glare to her sister. " We should not be so brash in our tactics, the Necromancer is trying to twist us all around in tactics. He wants us at his lair, mostly it is trapped but we aren't there yet, we do need to be careful. That being said, we should refrain from causing the giant anymore harm. I understand the first time being a mistake, but this isn't right now. " Renee explained to the two. " Kalina, don't let that necromancer turn you into a monster. " Renee spoke in a gentle tone now, hoping thr vampire could hear it above the wails and struggles of the giant trying to get to it's feet, even though it was useless.

As the beast roared in pain and sent his allies flying Gawain stood his ground, he was not as easily tossed aside as others. Determined to hold his own as the others could regroup, he was forced to raise his shield to block a massive swinging arm. The arm slammed into the skeleton with a fierce blow. He was forced backwards by the sheer amount of force from the strike, and the skeleton stumbled. Looking down at his arm he could feel it was weakened a bit. It had cracked. Looking around he could see that the others were pushing themselves back onto their feet. Everyone was still alive luckily. It seemed like others in the group were talking but the creature was still wailing in pain.

The wails caused Gawain to falter for a moment. It's cries would lead you to believe it was alive, and it was at least a not completely hostile force. Yet it was still summoned by Dahek, a mounter of evil. If this creature wasn't so innocent and was actually a trap then it was likely that not all of them would survive. He wanted to believe that this creature wasn't another abomination that needed to be put down, but could they take that risk.

Raising his voice to echo past the wailing of the beast he spoke as clearly as he could, "We do not have time to waste. Do we go with it or through it?" He saw the others were nearby and faltering. If none of them acted then he would, but at the same time he did not want to make this choice for them. So depending on there answers would make it so that he would charge, or make peace for the time being.

Kalina was literally stunned for a moment when Renee told her to stop. The reasoning was so horribly flawed that for a moment, she didn't know how to reply or even move, until she'd gathered her thoughts again. “It's not an undead. So what? All undead are automatically evil and all non-undead are automatically good? Is that what you're suggesting? You should really check your company if that's your logic.” She actually felt insulted, as these were the words were coming from her sister, rather than someone random. She'd really expected her to be more careful with her words and wiser altogether.

“This is a thing that our enemy purposefully summoned while we were distracted by his rants. It's a thing that's big and strong enough to crush us like flies the moment we're not on our guards. We don't even know if it's acting or not, and even if this all is legit, this thing is being controlled by our enemy! The necromancer might have just the spell ready to turn this thing into a violent beast the moment we show our backs! It's wounded now, caught off guard before it could be summoned. Of course the necromancer would try to trick us into stopping so we wouldn't kill it's ace because he foolishly believed we wouldn't spot it. Of course he'd make it seem like we're the horrible ones for killing a threat before he can fully use it against us. You're way too [naïve] to just trust them like that.”

She actually got angrier and angrier as she went, ending with it outright being audible when Renee wrote the thing off as 'not being an enemy' just like that. “It's a thing in the employment of our enemy, summoned by him, ready to be used by him. Of course it's an enemy! If that guy is trying to twist us around, it's clear that you're the one he instantly managed to trick. I really thought you'd be better than to be fooled by something like this.”

When the lair came up, her anger subsided a bit and turned into confusion. “Didn't those two say they had a plan?” She nodded in the direction of Garvin and Garrett. “I'd really hope that didn't include walking into the enemy at random and hoping he'd welcome us. After all, if we need to rely on his own servants, we might as well throw ourselves to the wolves. They can lead us into whatever trap or devious plan he's got ready for us. Who in the world relies on their enemy's help to defeat them? If he wants us at his lair, it's clearly because he knows how to defeat us, such as by hoping we're foolish enough to just play by his rules; a trick you seem to be falling for.”

Upset as she was, she knew she couldn't defeat this giant on her own. Should she convince the others to help her defeat this thing? Should she force a fight by attacking and hoping the others would not let her die, regardless of whether they agreed or not? Should she just say 'fuck it' and go her own way, leaving Renee to her own devices? Should she go with their idiocy and let this thing guide them to their enemy's lair solely on the hope that the enemy was underestimating them badly enough for them to make it out alive regardless of how they perfectly played by his own rules? All of those seemed like a bad option.

That's when she got an idea. “You.” She addressed Wyland, sounding a little more aggressive than intended due to the amounts of frustration flowing through her veins and the pain in her shoulder. “Is there any way you could check how much influence the necromancer has over this thing, or better, make sure he can no longer influence it? The only way I'd ever be convinced to leave this thing be is if I'm damn well sure it won't be used against us in the future.” She still didn't like trusting their enemy to help them defeat the same enemy, but Garvin's and Garret's lacklustre plan and Renee's naivety were really putting them in a horrible position.

Ray covered her ears as the monster roared out in pain, the mild discomfort almost causing her to drop her bow. Despite the roar being uncomfortable it wasn't the worst noise she had the displeasure of hearing. The rapid-fire hailstorm of bullets she survived in her previous life was an experience she couldn't forget, nor the multiple times she had used a grenade during her roaming back on Earth. As the roar came to a stop she found herself regretting the disposal of the Beretta M9 pistol she had on her person when she was brought to this world, even if she had ran out of ammunition for it weeks after being brought here. Where had she buried it? Now was not the time to ponder over pointless thoughts, as the monster had once again caught her attention. It seemed... scared, and confused as to why it was being attacked. Even the attacks it had made against them seemed defensive, which was reinforced after it stopped attacking them and wallowed in pain. It was alive... at least to some degree.

Ray listened to the rest of the group discuss about what to do now, though she didn't like either plan. Renee was being too naïve and forgetting the fuckery they had just finished putting down not minutes ago, while Kalina was being too cautious and hasty. Between the two of them, she agreed most with Kalina.
"It may well be alive, but the living can be just as dangerous as the undead." Ray retorted to Renee, before glaring at Kalina. "However, we also can't be too rash and kill everything the bastard sends our way. It may be a guide to lead us into a trap, but the monster can also serve as a distraction." Ray paused to ponder on a more cohesive plan, thinking back to how Dahak had reacted to Hitler being mentioned. If the two of them came from a similar world... Her face perked up as she turned to Renee again. "I think the two of us need to have a quick chat, if you'll come with me quick." Ray stated in a hushed tone as she used her head to subtly gesture to the monster, pretending to crack any cramps out of her neck just in case Dahak was using the monster to watch and listen to them. She drew her bow out and kept it within view of the monster, an arrow at the ready just in case it started going on the offensive.

Gawain felt his temper flair again as he kept glancing back between his allies and the creature. Kalina's outburst was justified and from what he caught he actually agreed with her, but there was a time and place for everything. This was not the time or place. Swinging his sword arm around he slammed the metal blade into the metal of his shield causing a loud clang to echo in the forest. Shouting to make sure he was heard "We don't have time for this! Fight or follow?!" He didn't care if that drew the creatures attention and caused it to attack. At least then they would be doing something, and he assumed that his allies would help him fight if he was attacked. Then again they were still standing and arguing instead of doing anything so maybe he would be flattened while they had there verbal spat.
