Stone crumbled with every step the travellers took through the delicate marshland, the scarce, fragmented ruins of a fallen city scattered as far as the eye could see. A cool mist hovered low against the ground, covering the land in a sort of refreshing yet desolate atmosphere. In the distance, something resembling a ruined castle sat high in the air. Though it seemed much of its upper structure had gone missing, it was the most building-like structure the group of five had seen all week.

"Looks like we might be able to have a roof over our heads tonight." Lirek smiled warmly, glowing with a renewed health and hope that couldn't have been imagined a week ago. Though his ribs were still visible, his skin was a more vibrant hue and his eyes glossy but lively. He trudged along agilely with his makeshift walking stick, manoeuvring around debris and puddles with ease. Though old, he was certainly not one to fall behind so easily.

"Indeed." Taji responded casually, though it had slowly become known over the past week that he had [Damaged Eyes] and likely couldn't see such a distant structure very well. On the other hand, Lirek had [Damaged Ears], and though they had not gone into detail, the cause of both permanent injuries was alluded to be their previous captors.

Taji was also more vibrant than before, his hollowed out cheeks less prominent and his fur even more plush and velvety than previous. As he prowled ahead carefully, his ears twitched before he suddenly leapt out of the way of an incoming arrow. Embedded in the swamp, the arrow sank, just as 8 rough-looking ruffians smilingly appeared from behind the ruined walls ahead of the party.

"Two beastkin and even a fairy? We've hit a goldmine boys!" The front-most human cackled crudely, before brandishing his machete and swinging it wildly at one of the unwanted goods, Kurikara. A nasty scar ran across his face, and though he seemed nothing more than a muscular brute, his movements were swift and full of confidence.

The second human, cloaked and somewhat overshadowed by the front-most attacker, quickly pounced on Tyrmar with a curved dagger. Their body was small, nimble and lithe, and they moved much like an assassin, aiming directly for Tyrmar's heart.

Roughly 50ft behind them, two bow-wielders readied their bows, one each aiming for Tyrmar and Kurikara, likely ready to strike if their allies needed backup. The other four were jeering and lazily watching the action, though the glint of their blades was something to watch out for.

The morning was young and the day although foggy seemed set to maintain good weather, suffice to say the last week of travel with his sudden companions had been more than happy traveling. As they made their ways towards their destination Tyrmar made sure to keep any member of the troupe talking that he could, his thirst to see what the world has to offer also made him deeply interested in those who traveled the world.

Keeping away from potentially hazardous topics such as their homes and origins, he simply got to know each of them. He asked Loren and Taji what they most looked forward to when they finally got to Ryke. Had Ninelle taste test his dishes whenever they made camp to rest, or asked where her interests laid as he was quite excited to get to know a member of the Fae.

And of course there was the ever enigmatic and stoic Kurikara, a man of few words and tumultuous emotions to say the least he’d tried to build camaraderie with him nonetheless. For unlike with the others though he could gather around a fire and talk peacefully with them, he felt none of them would understand the rush of battle and importance of keeping up with one’s skills.

Which is why he’d bothered him for sparring sessions every night and morning after everyone had gone to sleep or before they’d woken up. After that much time together he was glad to help Lirek walk over rubble and keep watch in front with Taji.

As the bandits charged out at their group Tyrmar quickly took into account their numbers and how they rushed them. They were either confident or cocky enough to leave this to the stronger members, but still cautious enough to keep ready.

‘Hmm, well no need to worry about them, they attacked first after all.’ Turning to Kurikara calmly for a moment he spoke “Try to keep at least one alive, I’ll handle the archers in a moment.” As his opponent near Tyrmar matched his charge and threw his forearm forward to parry his dagger, following up he attempted to grab him in a tight bear hug grappling him with all his strength.

“Exalted Heart” he grinned down upon his attacker before pulling his head back and tensing his muscles. If they wanted to be so cocky then all he had to do was shake that confidence they had wasn’t it?

Kurikara
BlazBlue_Cross_Tag_Battle_Hakumen_Main.pngHis heavy sabatons sunk into the marsh, water flowed up to his calf with every step. As they had for the last week, they started their journey at early light. Long gone were the forests in favor of a humid marshland littered with the remains of a long gone people. The Living Armor Kurikara had made good on his vow, and even now he was escorting the Beastkin to their freedom outside the Empire. Though they had yet to leave its borders according to Ninelle. As ever the stoic warrior led the escort his back to the others for most of their journey. After their initial conversations and Kurikara offering them justice he had fell into relative silence. Speaking only when strictly necessary.

While he did not face them the eyes littered across his armor were still enough to see both the group and their surroundings [360-Degree Vision]. The Feline Beastkin Taji, Amphibean Beastkin Lirek, Fairy Ninelle and the Human Tyrmar. The Beastkin were his charge that was all he had given them what they were due and they had made their decision. Kurikara did not have much to say of the Fairy, his users had encountered the Fae many times in the past. Their allegiances were often as fickle as their nature, but they were often in it for themselves. Still they made for useful allies or terrible foes, this one meek as she was seemed to have some use. Her mechanical body was a curiosity, but not one that mattered to his purpose. The Human Tyrmar was uninteresting, he was just as any other of his kind that was Kurikaras first impression. Though he was still far too talkative for his disposition Tyrmar had revealed himself to have the heart of a warrior. That was something Kurikara would never look down on weak or not, his wanderings and conversation had made him rusty. So when the human requested they spar he accepted almost immediately. Just before they left for the morning and just before turning in for the night they fought. Kurikara of course held back, but it was a refreshing change of pace. He was meant for battle, he gave his sword use once more. Tyrmar had his respect if nothing else.

He paid no mind to the conversation of tonight's shelter for now they would keep wa- His eyes opened, his hand shot up to his blade and drew. Immediately after an arrow flew through the air Kurikara was too far to intercept it but he placed his armor in the path of Taji. Numerous men emerged from the ruins. Chuckling and leering at them. Kurikara had seen their ilk many times, outlaws, robbers... bandits. The one closest to Kurikara made their intentions known, and it was something he could not allow. He would give no warning, they were in the way his choice was a simple one. As battle began to erupt Tyrmar called out to him.

"I will consider your words..."

The machete wielding man slashes at him, Kurikara steps into the guard of the bandit moving closer rather than trying to dodge as anyone else likely would at the start of battle. He holds his blade aloft in the air and swiftly strikes [Rikudō Tsuchi: Six Realms-Earth].

  • Rikudō Tsuchi: Six Realms-Earth - Focus F, Fighting Style Kishin-ryu E, Athletics F, Multidimensional F, Penetrating F - Kurikara goes into a ready stance and when the moment is right performs a single powerful strike cleaving an enemy in twain. Past week
The past week had been kind to the party of travellers. Ninelle's smile grew brighter every day as she watched the beastkin renew their vigour and spirit. Lirek was a funny and boisterous old man, but also wise. He had a very good sense of direction, and though his map was worn and indecipherable in places, he always seemed to know which way to go, despite never having been to any of these places before.

Taji was more of the perceptive and attentive sort. Though the cooking was left to the talented Tyrmar, Taji would help prep the ingredients, wash the dishes and clean up after everyone as if it was second nature. He was also always on alert, his hearing having warned them of many things before they could even approach. Though it was a saddening thought, it was becoming increasingly clearer why it was them that survived, and not others.

Ninelle hadn't been idle the past week either. Although fearful and nervous of wandering so far from home, she had spared no effort in identifying and gathering valuable herbs, vegetables and fruits for the party, particularly the beastkin. Herbs that would ward off common illnesses, vegetables with revitalizing properties and fruits that were both delicious and easy to chew and digest. Her eyes were widened on the daily, as she felt that there were so many more plants to discover, and so much more of the world to see. She couldn't quite come to terms with it just yet, but the belief that she should see the world for all the fairies that couldn't grew more prominent each day.

Round 1: Lirek's, Ninelle's & Taji's Turn
"Tsk, bandits." Lirek frowned uncharacteristically, saying no more as he briefly examined the situation. Watching the two pairs clash in front of him, he abruptly charged on over, wielding his walking stick like a bat. "Ya think this old man's gonna just sit here and comply quietly?" He harrumphed coldly, swinging his crude weapon at the figure targeting Tyrmar three times. It was a split second decision between the two, but he decided to help Tyrmar as he seemed to have no armour and weapon compared to the decked out warrior that was Kurikara.

Though the situation at the front was hectic, Ninelle was more wary of the six onlookers, two of which seeming ready to fire at any moment. Wielding her little wand, she concentrated with a gentle hum as furious razor-sharp leaves materialized and raced towards the archer targeting Tyrmar.
  • [Leaf Storm] F (flux) - 1 cooldown (Magic F, Nature Affinity F, Magic Range E (100ft))
Taji was the last to act, still pondering the possibilities up until he witnessed the little fairy's show of might. As if inspired, he followed suit, turning towards the archer targeting Kurikara. His eyes began to glow strangely, the webbed cracks on his iris coming to light, as the shadows on the ground morphed into vicious tendrils that dived towards their target.
  • [Shadow Whip] F (flux) - 1 cooldown (Magic F, Darkness Affinity F, Magic Range E (100ft), Weaken[Vitality] F).

Round 1 Outcome
Round 1: Round Outcome
The cloaked figure's dagger drew blood despite Tyrmar's defence, slicing through the natural armour on his forearm and leaving a nasty gash in its wake. Miraculously, said wound immediately closed itself up, but for the bandit this scene was obscured by the splatter of blood. Their wicked smile didn't last long however, as despite quickly moving to dodge, they were immediately caught in Tyrmar's vice-like grip. Beaten black and blue by Tyrmar's aura-infused blow and Lirek's accurate whacks, they immediately spewed blood and silently collapsed with crushed bones throughout their body. As they fell, their cloak fell off their head, revealing a young woman's face ruined by scars.

Round 2: Bandits' Turn
Bandit 2
"Tasia!" The older woman screamed shrill, unable to believe that her talented best friend was eradicated so quickly by some shirtless martial artist and an old slave. Still, she remained level-headed and hurriedly passed the weak teenaged archer beside her a healing potion. She stayed back, as if contemplating, before taking out two throwing knives and launching them at that sickly old anuran.

Archer 1
Chugging down the potion in an instant, the archer brought his bow back up without hesitation despite his injuries, aiming at that terrible little fae and letting loose a single arrow without mercy.

Bandit 1
"What the fuck... this isn't what we were promised." The bearded bandit mumbled out loud, taking a glance at the whole situation before charging forward. Though he didn't have the movement to reach Ninelle, he threw a knife at her when he reached a closer distance(about 20-30ft).

Bandit 4
"Brother, no... you fucking bitch, I'll kill you!" One of the bandits shouted hoarsely, charging forward with a crude gladius stolen from who knows where. Covering the distance with a surprising speed, he swung his blade fiercely and recklessly towards Taji.

Bandit 3
"Boss, catch!" The small man threw a shining new machete over at the machete-wielder with a small, dark smile, before taking out a small crossbow from behind him. "If you guys want to fight ranged, we can do ranged." He snarled, aiming and firing at Tyrmar.

Machete Man
"Hah." The machete-wielder caught the blade with ease, throwing his old one at Tyrmar without hesitation. "Let's see how long that pesky armour of yours can last." He spat crudely, casting a mild surveying glance across the battlefield before striking once more at Kurikara.

Ceylan

Ceylan woke up with a bad headache. He wasn't sure where it came from, so he tried rubbing his head, only to find out his hands were tied behind his back. That was weird. He opened his eyes to look around, but realised everything was still as dark as when they'd been closed. How'd that happen? And why did he smell and taste cloth in his face? Something was wrong here...

A bit more panicked, he tried recalling his last steps. He'd gotten himself unmaimed in the Paizu mountains. At the suggestion of the Cardinal, he'd taken a different route back down from the tower to avoid running into any giants. He'd split off from Mitsunari at some point... Then he'd gotten lost not too far after, somewhere near the border. He'd been forced to spent the night out in the open and that's where things got really fuzzy. He vaguely recalled making a small campfire to stay warm and getting a bit sleepy. He also recalled feeling a sharp pain in the head all of a sudden.

Wait. Suddenly feeling a sharp pain in the head and waking up all tied up? It finally clicked. This was bad. Wasn't one of the predicted futures one of him being kidnapped and forced into becoming an East Empire pawn? Was he seriously going down that path so closely after having gotten himself unmaimed? Surely not, right? His heart skipped a beat. This was bad.

That's when he realised why he'd awoken in the first place. The sound of battle. What was going on? Were his kidnappers trying to take more victims? Was he being freed? Was there infighting? He didn't know, but he figured it might very well be in his best interest to try reaching out.

”Hmhmhmm!” Well... that didn't get him very far. The biggest change was that he taste of cloth in his mouth had gotten a lot stronger. He tried getting up, which wasn't an easy feat with his hands tied behind his back, but with some wiggling and leaning he eventually managed to do so. He took a few steps. The ground felt mostly solid, a bit rocky perhaps. Were they still near the Paizu mountains? Possibly.

A little too confident, he took a step, only to trip over the first rock and smack back down, face-planting the ground. It hurt a fair bit, but at the very least he successfully made a lot more noise than any of this attempts at calling out could've made. After adjusting to the pain a bit, unable to heal himself for now, he realised that might work! Perhaps he'd read too many epics in the orphanage, but didn't folk sometimes manage to cut themselves loose by sharp rocks? Unsure on if he should be expecting any saviours to shop up, he ended up trying to find that rock he tripped over, feeling around to see if it had any edges sharp enough to cut off the ropes tying him down.

The rock was smooth as a baby's bottom. Just his luck. He tried to crawl further, but realised two things. One, he was crawling into water. Two, his hands weren't just tied behind his back, they were also tied to something else to keep him from moving too far off. As of right now, it looked like there were only two things he could do. The first was trying to rely on his [Divine Senses] to see if he could learn anything about what he'd gotten himself into. The second was trying to wriggle, pull, tussle and rummage to see if he could somehow loosen the ropes and get free, or perhaps make some noise and see if whomever was fighting his capturers would care to free him.

Tyrmar

As the knife broke through his flesh Tyrmar gritted his teeth, he welcomed such an injury in exchange for defeating his opponent. The assistance from Lirek was unexpected but welcome against the superior numbers, he took a cursory glance around the battlefield barely enough time to take into account everyone’s positioning.

Taji was on the outs, Ninelle was double teamed and Lirek and him were being assaulted from afar.

But as he brought back his freshly healed arm, steaming from his [Regeneration] E he didn’t consider anything first but taking out the supposed Boss of the group. Without leadership at least some would hesitate or even possibly flee, and in that opportunity they’d grab victory by its throat.

“You seem to be in a pinch my friend, allow me to HELP!” Striking out at the Machete wielding bandit, the air shook before exploding towards him in an attempt at providing the smallest bit of support, Tyrmar following its wake in a line towards his target. [Empty Fist Rush]

Following up he had no choice but to try to defend against the projectiles heading towards him, finding the shattered machete fast approaching he attempted to slam it down with a falling elbow before turning and trying to shatter the shaft of crossbow bolt with a sharp hook.

Celyan's ability would be setting off alarms at a nearby bush. His senses would determine that an evil creature was right in front of the dog man. While the group was preoccupied with the bandits and the assassin, there had been an evil laying low. Not one but several creatures now making their presence known to the priest. Waiting for the time to strike, it had considered the bandits and assassins but relished the chance to ambush it's prey even more.

Ceylan
[OOC: I got permission from SilverFeathers SilverFeathers to post again with two more actions to account for the sudden invasion happening.]

Ceylan was shocked to learn his [Divine Senses] hadn't just picked up on something, but had picked up on something directly in front of him. Something pretty bad. Still bound, there was not much he could do, except for fumbling around and trying to locate another sharp rock or something. He found something better. His gear. Including his catalyst. They'd likely not deem the staff dangerous enough to keep it away from him. With his staff, he'd be able to cast magic. Then again, he'd have to do so blindly and with his arms awkwardly tied behind his back. What were his options..?

He knew of one. It'd be risky and it might just as well be wasted effort, but he'd long ago attempt to learn the magic for it and now would be the right time to see if it worked. First, he'd try to summon something big. Something that might aid or protect him. [Summon Celestial C] He hoped the heavens would answer his call, but he'd not put all his eggs in one basket. Next, he'd try to summon again, but this time hoping to summon multiple smaller creature. [Summon Heavenly Swarm D] Between those attempts, he hoped there was something that could free him or protect him from whatever danger his [Divine Senses] had picked up being right in front of him.

Kurikara
sample-2fedc109f5087a1a72ad1b6ccb01e7c7.jpgWith a slash Kurikara swung at the bandit leader, only to find his blade hindered. He left a shallow cut but nothing near fatal; it was unexpected. With a wicked grin that spoke of hardened battle experience the machete wielding bandit retaliated. He struck a blow on Kurikaras armor leaving cracks, but damaging his own weapon in the process. Immediately after they attacked each other Kurikara withdrew into a neutral stance pulling his blade away, holding it threateningly forward. His smooth faceplate stared down the bandit leader watching as he caught a backup machete and discarded the other one aggressively toward Tyrmar.

In a scant few moments their positions had been switched and made same again. Now they both stood, wounded but more than willing to continue the only question was who would give first. The bandit shouted out a provocatiom one Kurikara would only answer with harsh silence. The bandit leader moved, swiftly going into an attack. Kurikara stood still as the, the world slowed to a crawl.

'Is this all the power Kurikara can summon up?'

'This is your doing! Why, for what reason to do you distract me from battle!?'
Kurikara was pissed, and confused. The voice should know how he felt in the midst of battle how he concentrated solely on the defeat of his opponent leaving nothing else in his thoughts. He had thought the voice understood this just as he did, for it had not interfered before.

'Kurikara is a weapon.'

'What?' The voice was different than before. Almost constantly he could feel it's rage, it's fury that surged like an ocean directed at nothing and everything. But now it was still calm even. It's tonee was measured and controlled in a way he had not thought it capable of. And now it was interrupting his fight to state something irrelevant? Had it gone mad!?

'Cease your incessant babble and heed me weakling. Kurikara is a weapon. A being created with the sole purpose to fight, to destroy. It would be a pathetic weapon if a single tool was all it could use.'

'Do not state the obvious to me mirage! I am aware of my capabilities, but that power is locked away I cannot access it!'

'Thats right, you are far to weak to unseal the "Book of Fire". You can not use it... not all of it at least.' Kurikaras surprise and realization echoed out in his mind. 'Yes, you see don't you? You can use a fraction of that power without full "Enlightenment", and you will do it through me. I hold the key to power, and you desire it do you not?'

'...I do, I need more power!'

'HAHAHA GOOD! Then use it. Destroy them, scatter them like dust!' The voice vanishes from the forefront of Kurikaras mind, and the world begins to accelerate once more. The bandits machete swung towards him Kurikara made to dodge while moving past the attack getting closer to the bandit. Then he summons up the power the Magic which lay dormant within. He releases his grip on his nodachi leaving it in his left hand. Then with his right hand he focuses all the power he can muster into his fist and slams it into the bandit leaders stomach [Fūin Hi: Sealed Flame F]. Immediately after Kurikara follows his attack; bringing his sabaton up in the air for an axe kick to the head.

Round 2: Lirek's, Ninelle's & Taji's Turn
Lirek

After silently mourning the fallen he had helped beat to death, Lirek attempted to dodge the incoming throwing knives with a powerful leap. "Potions, armour and multiple weapons." Lirek pondered out loud in a low voice, assessing the opposition with a wary eye. "Not a good look for us. But, I'm not above thievery being my first crime as a free man." He chuckled cheekily, before carefully rummaging around the assassin's corpse at his feet for useful goods. Despite his words, he had a solemn expression as he searched as respectfully but quickly as he could, likely unhappy with desecrating the dead like this, even if the target was a human. Acquiring the assassin's Curved Dagger D and Leather Armour F [Light] (Broken), he spent a bit of time quickly equipping the ruined chest plate, bracers and greaves. It didn't fit right, a bit loose around his thin sickly-looking body, and it obviously was in tatters, but it was something at least.

Ninelle
Vague memories of hunting bugs and beasts passed through her mind fleetingly, but none of that could compare to harming another humanoid for the first time. He's still so young... She couldn't help but tremble, staring at the bloody leaves embedded in his skin, right up until that same boy lifted his bow and shot an arrow at her without mercy. Instincts kicked in, as Ninelle spun her mechanical wing into overdrive and attempted to dodge both the arrow, and the thrown knife from her left. The twisted skin and metal on her back ached with pain and discomfort, as she slowly lowered herself to the ground, using the grass around her as cover as she ran from the bandit encroaching upon her from the left.

Taji
The bandit's anguished cry made it more than apparent that an attack was coming. Taji attempted to leap nimbly into the air to avoid the attacker, landing back cautiously on all fours. He instinctively flexed his paws to fight back, only to recall his lack of claws, with nothing but bloody scars from where they had been pulled out all those years ago. Licking his filed down fangs, he made a prompt decision to just run back towards his allies and bide his time.

1667834120924.pngThe thrill of the hunt sent chills down Shuten-Doji's spine as he followed behind the bat-like minions who had managed to find a sizable host of prey. The flying creatures landed on a branch and observed a bound beastfolk. As Shuten-Doji trampeled the bushes, one of his many eyes darted to Ceylan, watching the mutt while other eyes examined their surroundings. He could hear in the distance the sound of iron clanking and could only assume that there was a fight happening nearby. "Master!" The minions called to Shuten-Doji as he approached Ceylanwith a casual stride. His knuckles pressed against the ground, leaving deep imprints until he was face to face with the priest. He pressed his feline nose to the priest's head and inhaled deeply, taking in Ceylan's scent.

"Maikoa." He called. "This one not a threat. He's yours." He declared in the language of his kin before he turned away from Ceylan. He would not be satisfied consuming such a small meal, no he wanted to dine on whoever was fighting nearby. They were a much smaller group this time around with just the three of them so they would need to be far more cautious with their approach to combat and how they entered it. Hunting was fun but it could be dangerous. "Zolgen. We need to surprise the one fighting, take what we can and go." His razor sharp tail dragged across the ground while he tried to formulate a plan in his mind, but he wanted input from his packmates.

Zolgen
1196110200.png
Zolgen would have a wide grin on his face if he were capable of it, instead he let out a bit of a chuckle , holding his demonic twin blades in his hands now. There was definitely violence nearby which rather exciting and made him pleased. He then turned to Shuten Doji and nodded, "Right, we needn't all stay here with the bundle, particularly if he's going to start bringing forth toys to waste our time.. there are other more..inspiring..bleeding prospects at hand." He put it so eloquently in his uncanny almost friendly sounding tone now, speaking with a dark continent dialect in monster for the time being.

" And While I don't question our ability to lay waste to all that opposes us..We should probably take some caution moving forwards, You and I brother we should stick together.. move around from the perimeter of the battle on one side as quickly and quietly as we can so we can get a better view of the fighting for ourselves and quickly strike the most vulnerable looking. there's no reason for us to spend too much time here when we can get our food and leave." He continued. "This isn't just attacking some common village, we aren't sure what kind of adventurers or self proclaimed 'heroes' could be around here, as i can assure you as you may know already there are those who dare travel to the dark continent and can hold their own because of their power..and while I yearn for the day to deal prolonged battle with them, even I know my means " As enjoyable as Zolgen found a challenge he wasn't interested in getting killed, he needed to grow stronger first and this would help him reach that goal. He was ready to get a move on, wary of their environment figuring they should get going.

Maikoa slowly walked up behind Shuten, a quiet smile on her face as she gave him a small pet on his back, looking towards the battle. "Do have fun dear Shuten." She said, before looking towards Ceylan and his minions that suddenly were all around. She began to kneel down, looking at the dog. "Do you remember me and my voice holy hound?" She asked, recalling the dog ears and the gentle aura of the dog priest she had encountered in the city which had plagued nature. She wanted to peacefully approach him so as to not upset his new allies, her golden eyes staring directly at him.

"What has led to you being tied in a field like this dear hound?" She asked softly, watching Zolgen and Shuten while speaking with the bondaged doggie boy. "Stay safe brothers, I will be here if you need me." She said, sitting crisscrossed on the ground, turning towards Ceylan. "I see you have new friends around you." She commented about the holy swarm he suddenly had, having not seen them in her last meeting.

Despite her aerial manoeuvres, the throwing knife aimed at Ninelle managed to brush past her natural wing. Though it did no real damage, merely grazing an outer frame, it stagnated her movements enough for the distant arrow to pierce straight through the centre of her chest, half crushing metal and sending gears flying, and half ripping out her flesh. Blood flowed like a river from the wound the size of a baseball on her body, as she collapsed paralyzed onto the grass from the trauma and pain.

The outer layer of Kurikara's armour shattered like glass with the bandit's second ferocious strike, leaving him more vulnerable than ever. He would feel the force of the collision ringing through the rest of his armour, realizing a part of his core body had been damaged. Fortunately, the bandit's machete also quickly followed its predecessor, chipped away due to the pure strength of its wielder.

The bandit was in much worse shape, with his leather armour in nothing but tatters. Tyrmar's flying fist strike smashed into the right of his ribcage, whilst Kurikara's dark energy-fueled punch slammed into his stomach, violently re-organizing his internal organs. Kurikara's axe kick was also not evaded, as the bandit's head spun seeing stars. Round 3: Bandits' Turn
Bandit 2
The older woman tsked dissatisfied at the anuran's evasion. Whilst glancing toward Bandit 3 to check on his condition, she ended up the first to notice the gaggle of monsters and creatures prowling behind them. "Monsters from the rear, back up!" She barked powerfully, before touching her earrings and slamming her hands down.
  • Blink D (Magic D, Magic Range E (100ft), Teleport E (100ft))
Before everyone's eyes, Machete Man suddenly re-appeared beside her, dropping to his knees from the sudden warp. Without a word, the woman immediately placed her hands on his chest and muttered some chants, her hands glowing with healing magic.
  • Healing F (Magic F, Healing F)
"I'm sorry, I used the last healing potion on Luca." She mumbled bitterly.

Machete Man
"It's fine." He muttered calmly. "Things aren't looking good for us, we should retreat if we can." He commented, remaining still as he was treated before bringing out a whetstone and sharpening his blade. Though it obviously wouldn't fix the chipped area, the renewed sharpness made the machete as effective as it was previous.

Bandit 1
The bearded bandit stared at the collapsed fae for a moment, surprised to see the metal and gears revealed from her injury, before quickly turning back and retreating.

Bandit 4
"Fuck." The bandit swore crudely, clearly ready to end Taji's life right there, but held back in the end to heed the call to retreat, with the same impressive speed he used to close the distance in the first place.

Bandit 3
"Yo. Fire forward Luca, I've got the rear." The smaller bandit jogged on over, before loading another crossbow bolt, aiming and firing it at that gross multi-eyed beast (Shuten).

Archer 1/Luca
The archer smiled in a way that didn't match his age as the arrow hit its mark, before silently nodding at his fellow bandit's words. Aiming at that martial artist that had now dealt huge damage to two of his allies, he fired another arrow (Tyrmar).

Ceylan
Mentions: Maikoa NeramoDJI NeramoDJI

Ceylan couldn't help shivering and trembling when he heard the voices. He couldn't understand the language, but he knew which one it was. That of monsters. He could only pray that he'd somehow not be murdered as he could feel something pressed to his head. Honestly, he expected his head to be bitten off at any possible second and he would've been shaking a lot more if he wasn't tied down well enough to make even trembling a difficulty. Oddly enough, the warm breath on his skin soon faded, without the sharp pain of inbound death or torture... What happened? He wasn't sure.

Another voice joined in, but yet again in a language Ceylan hadn't heard of. It sounded like they were confident, perhaps even enjoying themselves, from the tone of voice with which they talked. He could only hope they weren't planning his demise with those unfamiliar words of theirs.

That's when he was surprised when a familiar voice speaking a familiar language joined in. He was a bit surprised when she asked if he recalled her. His memory was a bit blurry, a combination of having been knocked out for quite a while and having been fearing for your life a few seconds ago tends to do that, but he was able to dig deep enough... “Hmhnhmm.” Ah right. He'd answer her, but his mouth was a bit too gagged to do so. Nodding 'yes' was his best option for now...

Until his summons were answered. All things considered, he was surprised by it himself. Not only were has prayers called, he'd actually summoned something intelligent enough to speak to him, albeit through telepathy. He could feel something slither along and felt oddly tickled by feathers for some reason... what? This was getting more confusing to the doggo with every second. That's when he felt the bindings being torn. He was quick to rip off the blindfold and gag.

A very odd mixture of emotions overwhelmed him. Surprise, joy and even a little pride that his summons had been answered. Fear, worry and concern for the situation he'd found himself in and the oddly familiar, yet somehow far more sinister than before, presence of Maikoa. Confusion, at who'd been the one to tie him up and drag him here. At who was currently fighting who and why. At where he was... At pretty much everything, for that matter.

He decided he to answer the summons first, as it was the least duty he had to full-fill as the one that had dragged them out of the heavenly realms. “I was at risk of death and needed aid, so I called upon the heavens in the hope that they'd sent me someone. I'm truly grateful that you answered my calling, but I must admit I'm very confused regarding the situation. It seems there is great evil and a lot of pain and suffering, but I do not understand who, why or how.”

He then turned to Maikoa. A mixture of confusion clearly visible. “Were you the one that struck me down and bound me?” It was the most logical conclusion, but it didn't feel quite right. “They are here because they were gracious enough to answer my plea for aid.” He said, with regards to the summons. “But I don't understand. Why are you here? What happened between what we went through in the Holy City of Vegard and now? What were those other two presences? What happened?” It was clear that he wasn't willing to fight, he was a pacifist through and through, but he was scared and considerably worried about the aura's he'd picked up on, especially from Maikoa's companions. It was also clear he was trying his best to stay calm and not make any rash moves.

Confused as he was, he tried relying on his magic to figure out more. Using [Scanning the Mood] on Maikoa (and on Shuten, if he was still within range), hoping to learn more about the monsters that he was facing, but mostly just on what was going on with Maikoa. Wasn't she one of the rare passive monsters? One that didn't seek to actively destroy? One like Tia and Malerie? Was that wrong? Had she tricked him? He wasn't sure. He wanted to know.

Tyrmar

As the slightly countered arrow pierced his abdomen Tyrmar grunted but allowed himself not even a moments rest as he chopped off the shaft to keep it from being tampered with. In the time it took him to collect himself the entire layout of the two sides had changed, seeing the retreating forces brought his attention to his companions as the bandits prepared themselves for incoming monsters.

Taji was wounded but could make his way back to them without worry, Kurikara similarly was quite injured but his sword arm seemed strong as ever. Lirek was thankfully in a good position as he’d hoped and the old frog had even managed to grab some gear.

And Ninelle-

He turned his head back and forth trying to find the floating fae but anxiety filled him as his eyes were drawn lower, lying on the blood stained ground with a sizable wound dripping onto the grass she laid barely alive.

“LIREK!!” He roared out not even setting his eyes on the one he’d addressed but the running bandit who’d struck his friend. “COVER NINELLE!”

He was moving before he could hear any response, his calf muscles tensed before he exploded off of the ground in the direction of the retreating back of his prey and the archer who’d shot at him. Before it met him he struck out mid stride, no matter the result he’d continue on until he stopped between the two.

Whirling around he glared fiercely at the running bandit before raising his leg up over his head, how it would shine and glow in righteous fury as he attempted to slam it down on his opponents head.

Actions:

Use [Empty Fist Rush] F to block the arrow and approach at sixty feet using Natural Weapons E and STR E

Turn on retreating bandit and slam his head with an axe kick with [Crushing Strike] E with Str C and Natural Weapons E

Shuten-Doji

1668187004162.png

A sharp, stabbing sensation coursed through Shuten-Doji all of a sudden and as he stumbled backward he turned his eyes towards the source. A bolt stuck out of his right arm like a thorn and the pain summoned up a growl from deep within the monster. Without hesitation he ripped the bolt out and threw it to the ground, crushing it beneath his large knuckle. At the Same time time he spotted creatures brought into existence by the dog man. Without turning to face them, he sized them up, taking the measure of the creatures. But Zolgen was right, they had targets before them that bled and were owed some pain for the arrow he'd been hit with. As the summon creatures didn't attack, Shuten-Doji got back on all fours and looked to Zolgen before nodding his head in the direction of the bandits.

He wanted the one that shot at him and wouldn't waste anytime thinking when he could be attacking. So the large monster burst into an all out sprint, his tendrils like ragdolls in the wind while his eyes kept him appraised of all that was happening around him .He focused on the crossbowman who had wounded him and headed straight for him with his fangs bared and his claws ready.

Then once he was within range, Shuten-Doji let out a loud roar and leapt towards the man. He swiped his claws at the bandit, using [Lacerate] in the hopes of cutting the man into ribbons. The minions that he had brought with him followed along behind their master, bought chose a different target so that he would not get ganged up on. The bat-like monsters chanted together. "Darkness Beam!" The five of them channeled dark energy and blasted it down at anotehr of the bandits in a barrage of magic.

Zolgen
1196110200.png
Zolgen looked over and saw the arrow that had struck Shuten. They certainly had some nerve he thought to himself. Striking monsters from afar when they weren't even attacking yet and had inadvertently given the hostiles time to flee. now was the time to act. Seeing Shuten spring into action just like that was expected, it would be satisfying to see them strike down the one who had fired the arrow. And now those winged creatures were back to assist them, this would be most beneficial like last time. When he saw Shuten getting ready to rumble on all fours it was time.

Since the celestials were not attacking them since they hadn't attacked Ceylan more than likely which was in the grand scheme of things most beneficial, Zolgen started to sprint forwards towards the group of bandits now himself with his blades ready to engage They'll pay in their blood. He thought to himself. He saw result of the winged attack from the darkness beams attempt to hit Bandit 4, Figuring that he could help finish that bandit quickly Zolgen would rush fowards to attempt to remove the arms of bandit 4 using Demonic Cleaver Sword #1 E and Demonic Cleaver Sword #2 E. now they would fight a united front.

Actions:
1. Zolgen moves in attacking range of Bandit 4.

2. Zolgen attacks Bandit 4 with

Fighting Style Fiendish Twin Blade E, Linked F
If his first blade connects his next blade quickly follows after to try to connect.

Round 3: Lirek's, Ninelle's & Taji's Turn
Ninelle

Every day since the incident, the phantom pain of her own mechanics eating away at her flesh had not once left her. The sharp edges that seemed to grate against her flesh, the gears that spun and vibrated against her vital organs and the icy feeling of cooled blood running through metal pipes instead of her own veins and arteries. Even her heart, half-mechanical and half-flesh, beat to a foreign melody.

Ninelle was always afraid of the possibility of her metal consuming her, but none of that could have possibly prepared her for the pain she was enduring right now.

---

Perhaps if she were to recount the memory, she would say it felt like a blunt object was suddenly hammered into her back, the pure force of which sending the object flying even after piercing straight through her body. She would vividly recall the dislodging of her parts merging with the dismemberment of her flesh, all blurring and merging together as her worst nightmare came true; her metal turning on herself.

She was being ripped apart from the inside.

The malfunctions in her mechanics did not hesitate to bring every single one of her sleepless nightmares to life. She vividly felt every single falling shard of metal embed itself in her insides, as if she was willingly consuming an endless trail of nails. Her gears spun uncontrollably like the erratic wheels on a race car, her every movement causing nearby flesh to get eviscerated and scalding blood to spray. Her structural frames and artificial rib cage violently tightened and squeezed, making it impossible to breathe when the pain already made it feel as if she couldn't.

At some point, in between barely-audible hyperventilating and erratic trembling, a single question slowly fazed into existence.

Was this pain real?

She couldn't tell anymore.

At some point, a blurry shape suddenly loomed above her. She vaguely felt herself being gently scooped into their hands, quickly giving her the realization that she had found her salvation. Her eyes were painfully wide, tears and blood creating mis-matching streams down her face amidst her trembles. With every ounce of strength she could muster, she dug her nails into the stranger's flesh with both hands as she forced her head up.

"P-please... kill me."

Those were her only words, a desperate plea as her string of consciousness snapped, finally allowing her to faint when she should've long ago.

Lirek & Taji
Even before he had processed Tyrmar's words, Lirek had already reacted, having been the one closest to the scene of Ninelle's demise. "LITTLE FAIRY!" He yelled out, using his little nickname for her. Running on over, he almost tripped on his own two feet with the sudden haphazard usage of his staff. Taji himself was not too far behind, limping on over whilst keeping a wary ear and eye out on the retreating bandits.

Laying lifelessly on Lirek's palm, the pair were rendered completely silent by the fae's words. Blood was flowing like a river, threatening to create a crimson pool in Lirek's own palm, from the gaping hole of a wound the size of the fairy's own hand. Without a word, the pair split up on tasks, silently denying the fae's last wish before her collapse.

Taji ripped tiny shreds of his rags and gave them to Lirek, before quickly wrapping the wound on his own leg and carefully inspecting the floor for any of the fairy's fallen machinery. Lirek himself tried his best to bandage the wound. Performing such delicate actions on a tiny figure was already difficult, much less with his hands already shaking slightly due to old age, but he remained determined to use his limited medicinal knowledge to the best of his ability.

Round 3 Outcome
  • Round 3: Round Outcome
Tyrmar shot out like a rocket, the bearded bandit's speed no match in comparison. The archer's arrow, offput by the force of Tyrmar's flying fist strike, merely grazed his side during his sprint, leaving him to unleash his furious vengeance without hindrance. Narrowing his eyes, the target bandit managed to avoid his head being struck, instead tanking the hit with the leather pauldron on his right shoulder. Although the force of the strike reverberated throughout and destroyed his armour, he managed to escape with little damage, Tyrmar's aura leaving deep burns on his skin.

The bolt that struck Shuten-Doji's arm fortunately did no real damage and had no long-lasting effects. Unfortunately for the bandit however, the reddish claws that reached for him were a different story. Instinctively leaping backwards with a cartwheel-like manoeuvre, he fortunately managed to avoid his face getting ripped off, though his bloodied lower legs and ankles were an unfortunate trade.

Zolgen and the berbalangs were a surprisingly coordinated family. Round 4: Bandits' Turn
Machete Man
"There's too many of those damn things. Tch, why now." He tsked in frustration, before barking out new commands. "Retreat as a group. Use our original targets as shields if you can. Make them fight each other." He started moving towards the two beastkin taking care of the fairy, chopping at Tyrmar along the way.

Bandit 1
"So quick to lash out, shouldn't you check on your little friend first? Seems that abomination is somehow still alive." The bearded bandit scoffed at Tyrmar, jabbing at him with a trained punch before agilely retreating.

Bandit 3
"This is why I'm not built for the frontlines." The cartwheeler sighed, before running away whilst firing at one of the berbalangs without aiming.

Archer 1/Luca
The archer frowned at the lack of impact by his arrow, following after his allies briefly before turning and firing at two of the berbalangs without aiming. "I'll cover our rear." He spoke quietly, gesturing for the older woman to hurry up.

Bandit 2
"Don't be stupid, I'm your mother. How could I go on ahead?" She scolded, keeping the archer ahead of her as they retreated, whilst throwing two knives at Zolgen.

Kurikara
d562cee2fb72e88ae9b39af564be4b12.jpgKurikara pressed the attack. He could feel his gauntlet sink into the mans stomach, he had managed to get in a decisive strike but not without cost. Warnings sounded throughout his system as his armor finally broke.

WARNING: FIERCE DEITY KURIKARA CONCEPTUAL FORTIFICATION ARMOR HAS SUSTAINED EXCEPTIONAL DAMAGE. 0.6% FUNCTIONAL

With a rage filled growl he pushed through ignoring the messages. Then Tyrmar joined his fight. Kurikara was prideful and honorable, he would prefer a one on one over anything else. Normally he would give the human a good reprimanding. But he would stow his misgivings for now, victory over the enemy was all that mattered now. Kurikara became submerged in the high of battle feeling a warriors brutal satisfaction as his kick connected with the bandits skull. He could feel it, the weaklings judgement was soon at hand. He would be punished for interfering with his mission! Kurikara gripped his blade intending to run the man through, only for his target to disappear from his sight.

"Magic!?"

Kurikara whipped his helmet around violently looking for his quarry. The eyes upon his armor damaged as it was darted around, searching. Then simultaneously all his eyes stared at one spot where the wounded bandits were congregating.

"They are..."

'Retreating.'

Kurikaras gauntlet closed into a fist tightly. There was the shouts of the combatants, the voices of those familiar and not, enemy and ally. It all melted together in the same cacophony. He would not allow them to get away, they couldn't evade justice, not like that abomination had. He turned his head to the enemy. His armor was damaged, but remained functional. So long as his spirit was not destroyed then he could still make use of it. He couldn't summon up his power, but he could direct the magical flow of his armor. With a flexing of his will he flooded the artificial muscle fibers of his legs with magic then, with an explosive start he sped across the ground [Sora No Kaze: Empty Wind]. Accelerating quickly he holds his blade parallel to his body and jumps at the bandit leader intending to cut through him. Upon landing just in case his first strike doesn't prove fatal and the bandits perseverance allows him to survive once again Kurikara follows up with a magically charged punch [Fūin Hi: Sealed Flame].

"You will not escape so easily!"

Maikoa listened to Ceylan's explanation, leaning towards him and placing a hand on his head, giving him little pets on the head while her golden eyes stared into his own deeply. She listened to his question, before looking out over Shuten and Zolgen. "Nothing happened. I simply found people to care for. I do not harm anyone. I merely protect them." She said softly, getting closer to Ceylan slowly. Her mood was completely neutral, no malice in it whatsoever, simply the same motherly feeling she always had, her heart set on protecting those she had deemed her kin.

"Perhaps you should come with me, I will keep you safe." She said, now fully next to Ceylan, sitting down next to him with a hum. "There is no need to get involved with the conflicts of others, you know this certainly." She explained, giving Ceylan little ear scratchies like the doggy boy he was.

Ceylan was rather surprised when his summons just peered into the past to tell him all about what had been going down. That said, he had to think it over. The bandits that kidnapped him had attacked another group and were now attacked by the monster group Maikoa was with. Normally, this was where he would attempt to be diplomatic. To see if he could use words to talk the bandits and/or monsters down. However, with the battle already raging on, that'd be near impossible. What would bring the most good in this situation? Likely saving the five that had been under attack. “Yes, that helped a lot. Thank you.” He replied to the beast with a gentle smile.

That said, Maikoa's words were more problematic. He'd allow her to get a bit closer, but he withdrew when she tried to pet him. They weren't that close and he was weary of whom she was with to a degree he was also weary of her. Besides, sticks are for fetching, not petting. Her words were a little odd at best. Protecting those that harmed others was, by extension, a form of harming others. “You're wrong. It's my mission to strive towards achieving the most good in the world. That hasn't changed since the Holy City of Vegard. These bandits... whilst I would've preferred talking them down, it's too late for that to happen. The best outcome is for them to fall. However, those stranger that'd been attacked by them. I won't allow harm to befall them until I know if they're a force of good or not.” Considering they were with [beast] people in what he assumed was still the Empire, he could make a few guesses as to what they might be up to.

He turned to Maikoa. “I won't blame you for your choice of company, but even though I do not wish for this to happen, I must say, should they go after the innocent, they, and by extensions, you, will become my enemies. I shall not attempt to aid the bandits, but I shall attempt to aid the other group of five.” With his mind made up, he had another request for his summons. He wasn't sure if Maikoa was going to let him go freely after that statement, so he decided to play it safe. “Please help me get closer to the wounded.” He hoped he'd be in time to save the life of that fairy.

He'd use all of his actions to move directly south as far as his feet could take him, wishing to make it towards the Linita trio without having to cross the battle-zone between bandits and monsters. With some luck, the monsters would be satisfied with mauling the bandits and leaving afterwards.

Shuten-Doji

The monster was disappointed when his target escaped his strike, even if just barely. He watched the second arrow fly through the air and hit one of his followers, sending the monster to an early grave. The bandit was wounded, but still agile and Shuten-Doji didn't want to chase his food, he wanted it to fight back. That was when one of his eyes caught sight of Tyrmar, the man looked strong which meant he would be a good opponent as well as a good meal. "Follow!" He called to Zolgen before he took off in a sprint once more, this time heading towards the cluster of enemies and targeting Tyrmar above everyone else. Trampling tree roots and dodging boulders, Shuten-Doji made his way towards Tyrmar, but this time he chose to get in close. He leapt at Tyrmar while swinging his right claw in an upward motion, hoping to catch the man while he was preoccupied with the bandits.

Upset by the death of their kin, the berbalangs fluttered off after the archer. They wanted to keep the bandit within their range.

Actions:
  • Shuten-Doji moves to Tyrmar
    • Attacks with just his claws.
  • Berbalangs move to Bandit 3
