Shit shit people were dieing already, so were the enemies but gods damn they needed to get killing and fast. Alright, think, think, we could he do... Lets see...

Nazis dead on his side, those not given his boon were faltering and he had just made the air smell of calamari with a side of very juicy meatballs. Suffice to say it was time to.... Do something.

Yes something very well thought out, come on man just do what you do god damn it.

He needed to be careful with his targets, so to the forks again!!

Lightning forks - Magic D, Magic Range E, Lightning affinity F, magic target E a deadly ranged lightning spell that fans out to many foes! Grade 2 post cooldown - 100 foot Range 10 target

He'd fire his shots upon the beholders once more, aiming to clear the camp of the beasts so they could focus on the front...

"Those in charge of this east flank better damn well hurry and... Oh look reinforcements, out of the blue even." His pun for the ages will be lost to all, truely, he was a master of comedic timing even in the worst situations.

But really what in blazes was that blue man doing.

Azusa watched as the creatures she shot at came down to the ground and gave a little smirk, though she hadn't expected that result. Turning her attention to the front lines, she quickly moved to help the soldiers hold the line getting into close range of one of the creatures and firing off a shot at point blank range.

The sudden realization that he hadn't gotten as far as he wanted to struck Retili right as he realized there was suddenly a fresh hole in his stomach. He collapsed to the ground next to Linneus, having failed to get anywhere close to his troops and instead being rewarded with both searing pain and the smell of burning flesh and cloth. The Zentail nearly blacked out as he clutched the wound and curled up into a ball. The dagger that he had held up to a few moments before lay uselessly nearby. He could see through the red haze that seemed to cover his vision. The sight was not great. Fell beholders swooped down sprayed beams that killed without thought. His lord's troops and his own fought to hold the line and were falling for it. The chaos of the moment made the fight seem quite bleak. He closed his eyes and tried to focus on staying alive for the moment and deal with his injury. Anything else would have to wait.

Count Linneus Light
1671061487065.pngLinneus' eyes moved in a frantic manner as he tried to keep his eyes on every aspect of the situation. "Don't let a single monster through! Cut the down!" The Count went on encouraging the the soldiers, including the new arrivals who were restored by Michael's spell. He was about to pass on some orders to his archers when he heard the sizzling of Retili's flesh and saw the man fall to the ground. "Retili!" Linneus' voice broke as he dropped to his knees by the Scribe, his eyes fixed upon the deadly wound that now marred his body."Master Delselmon! We need your magic!" Linneus cried out with a shaky voice as he grit his teeth.

This could not be happening, not to Retili who had been nothing but good to those around him. "Don't worry Retili...I-I'm here." Linneus was not medic and didn't have any medical knowledge, but he'd heard his soldiers swap stories of battle and remembered someone say they had to burn a wound closed. "I will do my best to take care of you."

Compelled by adrenaline, Linneus placed his hands on Retili's torso and for the first time his hands were stained with blood. He moved them to the wound and took a deep breath. "Leilosis, shine your light down upon us, grant us guidance so that we might find our way out of this darkness. Lend us your strength so that we may smite your enemies and...save our friends. Leilosis' Light." A warm glow enveloped Linneus' hands and he watched the light grow to fill the wound. It was his hope that the heat from his solar magic would cautorize the wound and prolong the Scribe's life even if just a minute longer. "I'm sorry for any pain friend." His eyes looked to Retili's face with tears starting to swell in them. "This is...not so supposed to ..happen." His words were inaudible as he started to sob.

With each passing moment the battle inched closer to it's end. Which way that would end seemed impossible to tell. Both sides fought desperately as the brave warriors fought tooth and nail against beast fang and claw. No matter how many blast Peng fired it seemed to do little to help the defense. Looking up he saw the beholders stream above head and fire there sickening lasers into the defenders at the rear. Turning back to the front he selected two different spear men within ten feet and casted a spell "Order 5, Words of Growing Strength" letting the strength within the soldiers be bolstered. Turning away from the frontline he began to move back to try and get in range of the beholders so he could help open fire on them.

Order 5 :Words of Growing Strength: Magic D, Spell duration E, Magic Target F, Magic Range F, Bolster Strength F- Magic flows from the user’s catalyst into two targets raising their strength by one letter grade. Spell duration 1 hour, spell range 10 feet, Grade D- 2 post cool down

As the Fell Knight dispersed, Fleet offered a warning concerning Michael. Jareth turned to his friend as the ground beneath his feet told him more hostiles were inbound. Several of them at once this time.

"Michael you can't take much more of this! Don't forget that you're still part human!" Jareth called over the din of the battle and Michael's spell.

Jareth turned back to the encroaching knights. With a heavy sigh, he lunges for the closest group and sends out three mana blasts on three different knights.

Refugee Camp

3af2ea3142b382897db25d74901a2a7a.jpg

Oliver, Azusa, and Peng would continue releasing shots upon the beholder enemies. Between their efforts and the archers in the camp, the beholders were wiped out as far as could be determined. Similarly, the beasts swarming the West gate were nearly subdued. The swelling numbers within the camp of armed fighters and capable townsfolk also helped restabilize the East gate and brought an end to most of the Fell. What remained were the slower Fell still making through way across the field.

While the refugee camp army, now bolstered by hundreds of soldiers from the blue portals, surged across the field to route the fell knights that still advanced, Linneus's efforts were sufficient. Retili's wound was gushing as readily and the rotting factor on his wound had been seared away. The pain would be immense, but his life was still his own if he could get to a proper healer in time. Unattended, the 2 men's loyal soldiers (minions) suffered casualties fighting for their patrons. More importantly, their charges yet lived and the fight would likely soon be their victory. It truly felt like a battle for the fate of Yemaya. Had the soldiers fell, lacked proper support, or did not receive reinforcements when they did, the city's fate would have been sealed with theirs.

Jareth's valiant charge inspired other soldiers to rush forward and together many men smashed into the hordes of the enemy. The knights in particular were slow to react and many were toppled in the process. Their impressive strength was nothing to scoff at, however, and soldiers had to work together to keep them down and finish them off. Jareth's efforts alone downed a few of them. It may have turned dicey had Jareth not received backup. Fleet perked up with the defeat of the last of the Fell Knights,

"phew, that was close. Sandman, these creatures have interesting materials. Before we absorb them, note the black evil coming off of the plate armor that looks mad sus."

Meanwhile,

Michael remained channeling the Blue World. He was not quite done. The eyeless dead stared back on him expectantly as his body burned in the flames of mana that coursed through him. His altered form did not allow for tears. He wanted to stop, but he could not. His growing growl would pick up volume and intensity as his discomfort grew. More and more portals started opening up around the camp and deposited more and more citizens. Most of the soldiers had been resolved at that point, brought out first for the sake of countering the leftover enemy. One by one, the dead demanding Michael's atonement disappeared. By the time Michael was down to the little girl holding a damaged doll, his fingers were stiffening and flaking away in the harsh mana winds swirling around him. Everywhere a blue line ran through his form, parts of his body were breaking down and blowing away in the breeze.

Finally, the little girl was all that remained. Michael's fingers snapped and popped with difficulty in working the magical terminal. The little girl slowly faded from Michael's nightmares and guilty conscience as a living girl slowly took shape in blue world. A moment later, another portal opened in camp to deposit the last of the refugees Michael could save. The camp and its perimeter were bursting with people. Thousands had been saved and/or resurrected. Some had been dead since the first explosion that rocked Yemaya. Many of the portalled citizens would vaguely recall seeing the blue knight prior to appearing in camp. The last of the citizens appeared in the camp as Michael's left hand faded away. He turned hard eyes to the crater left. There was another matter to attend to before he could finally stop.

The blue orb near Michael disappeared and the intense winds caused by the mana accumulation began to die down. Michael raised his remaining hand to the the city that once was, flakes falling from it as he did so. Over the crater, several blue portals appeared and just started dumping Fell creatures into the pit by the dozens if not hundreds. At least one of the monsters was particularly huge and hideous, its horrible visage barely illuminated by the multitude of portals ejecting its kin into the depths. The mile fall would likely be enough to kill most of them, but for those that wouldn't die from the fall or for the beholders that could fly, they had mere moments to enjoy their freedom from blue world before Michael dropped his remaining arm as it dispersed into dust.

The massive portal to blue world opened up again and the large blue hand brought the city of Yemaya down from the stormy clouds above back down to rest in its former place. The beholders were not nearly fast enough to escape the massive landmass returning to its former place, crushing everything beneath it into the pit a mile down. Anything unfortunate enough to survive the fall and impact and crushing pressure would be trapped indefinitely within the stones below and with a city stacked on top to seal their tomb. The blue hand returned to the Blue World and the portal closed as Michael fell to his knees feeling fatigue his body shouldn't feel. His alpha form was not released, but the armor layer continued to flake away and disperse. All those in attendance would bare witness to the return of their city and presumably the end of their tormentors.

With calmer winds and the light show over, Michael would fall over in the grassy field. Fleet would pipe up again in a shifty eyed whisper to Jareth,

"Sandman, while the rest are confused by what's going on, let's go and harvest the augmenter's mithril before anyone comes to investigate."

The wound hurt. The pain was the center of his being and he felt cold. Sweat and blood began to pool together and soak his clothing. Black spots danced in his vision as he threatened to pass out. He didn't so much as hear Linneus as he felt his presence. The coherency required to properly recognize the man had left the moment the beholder had bored a fresh hole into his stomach. The Zentail understood that whomever it was hadn't hurt him yet and that was enough for him. A small part of his brain he wasn't really listening to figured it was likely someone trying to assist him. He felt himself being touched on the abdomen and then when the heat began he screamed. The sound was not dignified but it felt like someone had first stabbed him and twisted then superheated the blade to the same temperature as the sun. Whatever dignity he had ceased being important. He would fight and even claw at the hand that burned his wound closed. He writhed and wriggled in an attempt to get away from the pain with a strength that seemed to have left him only moments before. Then just as quickly it was gone. The scribe curled up into a small ball on the ground again and held his stomach close. The piteous groans indicative of the agony he felt. At least the blood had stopped seeping so dangerously from his wound though. He could only hope that someone would be by soon to take away the pain.

A few short moments.. it's all it takes to clear the haze of battle and strife. With the area cleared, they would have to take stock of casualties, take care to toss those enemies capable of ressurection were disposed of appropriately... And... Hmm... Err...

...theres... Alot more people then before here...

...Work of powerful magics to be sure, he had to.. Figure out exactly where those portals came from and maybe talk with the one responsible but..

Hoo thats alot of people. he should be more mindful of his surroundings, magic tends to make you keep a strange list of priorities for certain. Now.. lets see.. Who was... Ah, yes, the young count was calling for him by name, perhaps its best to take a looksee and see whats the problem.

Well.

It seems that young man has a hole in his back, and his front by the look of it, yes Oliver does remember the beams shot by those beholders, having such a mind split to so many ongoings.. perhaps he should devise magic to keep abreast of all things around him. But now, he had to tend to this young fellow, of course, his general state of affairs may seem orderly and non-plused by the chaos around.

But really his body was still freaking the hell out.

In actuality the elf rushed on over to the yelping young man as if on instinct he reached for his pockets... No.. No first aid equipment, he had magic now. With the mana done rampaging through the air erratically form the chaos, he would kneel next to the injured young man. "Stay steady, hands out of the wound and don't bite your tongue no matter the pain." He began his spell in earnest, fresh mana filling his system...

The staff glowed it's potent light, thrumming like a back up singer to the arcane song, with keen eye he spotted out nearby wounded as well, including them in the spell as well... With care he should see to it those not to be ressurected from the battle decapitated or something of the sort... He'd figure out how to decapitate a beholder later...

I recommend not having anything unwholesome like wine for two days, red meats will help, eat a cooked liver or two..." the healer spoke calmly as if reading off a prescription. "...And my lord.. I do believe We've many more hands than before, they need guideance... And... We need to know from whence they and those portals came..."

Count Linneus Light

So much had been happening around them and yet, Linneus' only focus had been on that of his Scribe. A man who he had sent to this hellish place. Retili and laid his life on the line for Linneus' own and that was something that he never expected of anyone. While the tears streamed down his face he looked up to see the elf had finally arrived. Quickly the Count stepped back, giving him room to literally work his magic.

Linneus wiped the tears from his face and finally took the time to look around. It seemed they'd bested the monsters and held their ground. Not without cost of course...but survival was rarely ever easy.

That was when Hera returned to camp. "We have Michael to thank for this miracle." The scout declared as she floated in the air, her wings gently beating against the ground. Linneus couldn't say that he was surprised. He'd always suspected that Michael possessed great power, but he never thought it was on this scale.

"Circle the camp, Hera. Inform any with the strength to move to gather the dead civilians and soldiers together. As well as remove any monster corpses. We don't have any time to waste so tell them to hurry." With clear orders the aerial took off once more and began to fly circles around the camp as she repeated Linneus' commands. Linneus looked back to Retili and crouched down beside him. "I'll keep my eye on him, Master Delselmon, you see to the resurrection of the people." They had won the fight yes, but their purpose here went beyond bloodshed.

Jareth's attention was on the knights he was attacking, but his mind began to wander. What was it he had just told Michael...?

'You're still part human.'

His first mana blast caved in the chestplate of a knight. He told Michael he was part human. Scenes from the floating island flashed through Jareth's mind. He watched helplessly as Michael's leg was ripped from his body by the Jailer. Then moments later a new leg grew out in its place. Was that human?

What part of him is still human...?

The second knight slashed upwards at Jareth, its darkened blade scratching him across the chest, causing the Particle Armor to flake away partially. Thankfully, the body beneath was unscathed, and Jareth retaliated with a sweeping discharge of mana that knocked the helmet off the knights shoulders. The contents within the helmet and armor dissipated in a darkened cloud of fell energy. Then, of course, there was Jareth. Michael's humanity was at least debatable, but Jareth's...? What happened back in that experimentation chamber? Hadn't that attendant dictated that he had...died...?

Am I...human...?

The remaining knights had closed in, but Jareth only had time for a final attack. His jaw tensed beneath the blackened armor that obscured his features. Several blades were raised against him. His attack would shatter a singular blade, then bring down its wielder after it in another discharge of black particulate as Jareth followed the attack to the ground. The ground shook from several creatures now stomping in his direction.

What exactly happened back in that desert?

As his mind searched for an answer, brief flashes of memory came to him, causing Jareth to grab his head as he doubled over. The encroaching Fell Knights were suddenly distracted by a new vibration approaching from the refugee camp's gate as mass reinforcements came charging into the fray. The Fell Knights were swiftly overwhelmed and eradicated. The soldiers may have questioned whether Jareth was one of them in his black attire. Amidst the strain of glimpsing locked memories, Jareth's armor dispelled as he returned to his normal appearance, likely relieving any reservations.

Fleet emerged at that point as Jareth started to recover, warning against absorbing the knights due to their evil energy. Jareth looked through narrowed eyes at the armors and black particulate. Assimilating such matter would probably be useful if he could protect himself from its malicious effects, but he lacked such ability at present. Another time perhaps.

Jareth rose as he began looking around. The army was cheering at their victory. Amidst the crowd, Jareth noticed a distinct lack of a familiar blue glow. He spun around to where Michael had been and saw him collapsed on the ground. Jareth quickly ran to the fallen knight as Fleet piped up again suggesting opportunistic scavenging.

"Fleet...shut the hell up..." Jareth said wearily as he knelt beside Michael.

Jareth wasn't quite sure what to make of the knight's condition. Considering he'd seen his limbs ripped off and regrown moments later, was his present state any cause for worry? Regardless, seeing his one friend disintegrating before his eyes was definitely unnerving. Wait...what had Michael done to him back on the floating island when his sand form had seized up? Jareth placed his hands uncertaintly on key nodes of the mana channels running through Michael's flesh.

"I don't know healing magic...but if you're trying to turn to dust on me...you best believe I won't let you...that's my job, you thief." Jareth whispered unsure if Michael was even conscious.

As best he could, Jareth channeled mana into Michael's mithril drawing his flaking flesh back to his form if possible and encouraging his latent regeneration.

Pulling the hem of his cloak down he let the air fill his lungs now unfiltered by the cloth. With a climatic finish the battle had been one. The monsters had been slain and those that might have continued to fight were crushed underneath the magic of the blue knight. This Peng had no doubt of. While the Knight Michael had certainty made mistakes , yet with what seemed to be the resurrection of so many people and destruction of so many enemies, the knight must have redeemed himself. Still Peng was left with two questions that bugged him. What had becopme of Torrin? Was he in camp now or had he been killed like so many enemies on this field or in the pit? Lastly was how could Peng redeem himself.

Looking around Peng observed the cheering soldiers. It was time for victory and celebration. Yet there was still work that needed to be done. Turning away Peng moved towards the nearest huiman corpse and began to pull it away from the carnage field. He would begin to collect the dead, hopefully grabbing others to help so that they could tally and set up a system for the fallen to be brought back to life.

Azusa watched as the soldiers and the people comping out of the blue portals turned the tide of the battle. As the monsters were wiped out Azusa wipe the sweat from her forehead as she looked around soldiers were hurt and no doubt she figured a few civilians would have been caught in the crossfire of the whole ordeal. Looking up at the sky as the blue magic disappeared which caused her to cock an eyebrow.

To think someone or something could have such power as to do that though, whether it was a man or a deity I have no idea. But, I think the worst is over at least. She thought to herself as she saw some of the soldiers start to help the wounded jogging over she helped move the wounded away from the gate as they were tended to by their comrades. Azusa looked back towards the center of the camp to see the lord of this territory standing firm.

Walking toward the count she twirled her gun in her hand before pulling the slide back a bit to check if a round was chambered or not. She figured they would be safe for the moment but she still had a lot of questions. As she approached she heard the scout mention the name Michael.
"Well my lord it looks like the worst has come to pass though I'm not entirely sure what happened, but who is this Michael you mentioned?" Azusa asked Linneus.

Monika's own accuracy with a pistol was nothing to laugh about, it was something she was proud of, but even she couldn't see in the dark with nary but torches to light the way. Eventually she just ordered her soldiers to stop firing in entirety, she couldn't risk friendly fire; souring relations now with the locals would only serve to hinder her. Instead they took a support and reinforcement role. The swords and spear men that were too injured and were recoverable were dragged out so as not to provide a weakness in the defensive lines, while the Monsters that managed to break through were shot down by her.

The defense of the camp stretched on Monika couldn't be sure of how long simply due to how much was happening constantly and in such a short amount of time. And the Monsters just seemed to continue to surge through the darkness, but they were holding their own. Those in melee were particularly helpful, reminding Monika that just because she had a gun doesn't mean it was the end all be all of a battle. 'At this rate we should survive this with only a few casualti-' A shout broke out, then another and another before a panic could be heard spreading throughout the camp. Monika began to see some men fleeing the front lines entirely, she had half a mind to shoot them for their cowardice and putting the rest of them in danger. But her breath was caught as a horrifying figure crested the walls. To her it was a strange abomination one would imagine would be at home in a circle of hell. It floated through the air a bizzare array of tentacles, eyes and a large gaping maw. 'Scheiße, what is that thing!?' She raised her Luger almost instinctually only for the Beholder to then shift out of sight, Monika's eyes widened in shock as she shot her gaze every which way trying to gain line of sight on it again. Only for another scream to sound into the night as a soldier fell. A second later she heard the loud german accented shouts of own men manning the east gate. And not long after the fighting at the frontlines grew more intense and dangerous. She clenched her gloved fist, as the situation grew further out of her control. Based on the capabilities of the Beholders, she'd have to assume the worst for her soldiers.

It was then that a strange feeling came upon her. It was like a slight pressure in the air, or a barely noticeable but still prevalent weight upon her shoulders. In the distance she saw something like electricity crackle in the air before a a shape began to grow out from an epicenter revealing a geometric formation of sharp lines all forming a circle. And that circled now covered the entirety of the ruined city just ahead of the camp. A display of power Monika could scarcely imagine. Even the spectators around her seemed in a awe, she could feel it even in this world such abilities are not normal. She was remiss to use such a term, as she was a women of law and order the sciences. But she could only call such a being who could do something like this... 'A god.' The city of was scooped up by a massive blue hand appearing from the sky before disappearing leaving a crater in its wake. A moment of calm seemed to settle over the camp like everyone was holding their breath at the spectacle. A flash of blue lit up not far from Monika and in response to this unknow she leveled her gun only for the light to reveal an injured civilian, all along the camp this blue light appeared depositing people in various states. Some being but corpses. Then a shout once again rang out but not one of far or pain but conviction in the face of battle. More soldiers began to swarm through blue portals reinforcing the previously fraying front lines. Around he she hears whispers and utterances of a name "Michael", it was that same one she had heard before this time spoken in awe rather than fear and anger. Who was he? Unfortunately for her even this display of Magic did not mean the battle was over. Lightning arced into the air frying a Beholder. All the while another appeared close to them at the west gate killing multiple guards and even wounding the Count Linneus, with his scribe taking the a far more arduous wound. "Heinrich, Vogt! Shoot those damn things out the sky!" Monika barked and order to her men. She as well fired her gun to stave off any more attacks on the Count...

A bead of sweat rolled down her brow, her Luger was raised but most of its ammo was spent. She wasn't even sure when next she'd squeeze the trigger and only be met with a damning click. The worst of the fighting was over, what remained was mopping up what little there was left. Laying in front of her were the corpses of her men, three proud german soldiers reduced to objects of flesh which no longer held the spark of life. 'Herr Delselmon said he could revive the dead. I'll have to rely on such things, if not I'm down significantly in man power till the Reichs support arrives.' She was utilitarian about the matter. Her two Fox Squad members that remained stood ready for her orders but she could see even they were winded. Though with their uniforms and mask even she couldn't see how they felt about their comrades death. But it didn't matter, they were soldiers of the Wehrmacht they would see the operation through.

Monika looked to the Count as he stood over the wounded body of the scribe. He looked worried like he truly cared for those under him. And there had been more than a few that laid their lives down for him in the fight. Yet he was a leader he gave orders and directed his people. Though this "Michael" was still on Monika's mind she didn't find it prudent to hunt him down. There was more she could do after all, "Heinrich, Vogt, see to the wounded and the dead the 'healers' will be making the rounds aid them in logistics." With a salute and a "Jawhol." They followed her orders. Leaving her alone, the Elf and the Count were nearby however. Monika looked down at the corpses arrayed at her feet. She clicked her heels together stood straight and gave a salute her right hand up in the air. "Bleib du im ew'gen Leben, Mein guter Kamerad!" There was no trumpet nor music but she gave the words of a familiar german poem often used in the funeral services of soldiers. There were no tears on her face nor any look of distress, instead there was only the respectful melancholic pride of a proud soldier. Though in truth she did not even know them well enough to truly care about their death personally, but as a soldier they had her profound respect. They had died in the line of duty something she had never done, as such they deserved that respect. She left it at that. Turning back to the Linneus and Oliver she watched the proceedings.

Short, sweet, to the point. The nova way. Project 10 was about saving what was left of Yemaya while working with the 10 day limitation on resurrection pre-trib. It worked for the most part, go figure. Everyone played a part from aiding michael to serving the refugee camp which now needs to take care of several thousand more people than it had earlier in the day. Thanks everyone that joined. Quickly turned from a small thing into a big thing with so many people. The atmosphere of the beginning tense conversations to the climatic end of the enemy and return of the people was nice. If anyone thought the part they played was too small, feel free expand on your character's aiding of the people in a follow up rp where the citizens are re-settled into Yemaya (Post Blight...or is it?). Big things coming to Ryke potentially.

Aftermath
While news of Yemaya would slowly trickle through the country, what would spread even faster was sighting of the magic circle and blue hand that lit up the sky as it took and put back the city in its palm. The spectacle was seen as far away as western East Empire and Mid-Ryke. The gossip of gods and powerful magics at work moved fast and nearly covered up the 'truth' that later followed of Yemaya, its destruction, and later reclamation. Fact blended with fiction and several things came of it.

The county of Sol would soon see a boom in residency. Pioneer settlements and villages seemingly plagued by border issues and monsters were soon repopulated in excess. Even Yemaya, ground zero for the latest disaster, would see its 1000 population dip seemingly replaced over night. Of the not quite 10,000 citizens in Yemaya and estimated 8,000 dead or missing, only around 1000 remained unaccounted for ((likely because there wasn't enough body left for even Blue World to salvage))). The biggest reason for the population boom? The idea the Lord Linneus had at his disposal the means to raise those in under his charge from the dead. This led to the rise of a religious cult of light that believed so long as Linneus was their lord, they would not die. Some in Yemaya felt the same even knowing the details that were harder to come back. This would start another rise in popularity for Linneus at the expense of souring relations with other nobles who were leaking citizens and tax revenue.

Enough details got around that Linneus's Order was now much more known. Rather than an autonomous group, however, they were seen as the right hand of Linneus. It was said wherever the Order was sent, miracles would happen. Hopeless situations would become hopeful. The dead would rise (in a good way), and catastrophes of nature and creature alike could be quelled in the face of the Order's might. The idea rubbed the adventuring guild and mercenary groups the wrong way. While it was not uncommon for nobility to retain their own armies of varying skill sets, it was uncommon for the nobility to leverage such powers against anything other than fighting wars and keeping the peace/law at home. Monster slaying, heroics, and the odd jobs relating to monsters and their cleanup generally fell to adventurers and mercenaries. As such, both groups saw a considerable dip in their services being requested within the Sol county. The Order was flying high.

So it was not a shock when Linneus's growing list of rivals finally made a move. Linneus would be accused of treason and the faction known as The Order would be labeled terrorist group. While those loyal to linneus as well as most of his people would remain, most of his neighbors include his own Duke would disown him. At the same time, the religious council of Ryke would declare any believe system originating from the Sol County as a heresy. Members of such a religion would be burned or exiled similarly to other radical cultist groups. Unless Linneus gave himself over to royalty to be tried and potentially face capital punishment, he would likely have a civil war on his hands. A war that adventurers and mercenaries would not serve under him for. Linneus's own Order was also split.

Despite the publicity and growing list of accomplishments, The Order established by Count LInneus was struggling to find its way. It was meant to act as an independent body meant to serve the people against oppression and wickedness regardless of nation, race, or creed. However, for the moment they heavily depended on the financing provided by the count. Charity work did not fill coffers nor could the poor and downtrodden always pay even if they wanted to and were asked. To add to the Order's growing list of concerns with their own morals and means of operation, Michael's latest showing was of deep concern. His power rivaled that of any existing member of the council if not outright exceeding it by several times. Factions started to splinter among the Order as far as whether or not Michael deserved a seat on the council. The details of his 'accident' as well as 'miracle' were known to the Order members, so there was concern elevating such a person would set a bad example that the ends always justified the means, which was not a message the Order believed in or wished to promote in members. However, reprimanding him in the face of his accomplishments would only potentially risk his wrath or rile up those in support of his ascension. The coming war for Linneus that required a strong Order to support him was also a contributing factor. For better or worse, Michael was a hero of the Sol County. Casting him out or getting into a fight with him now would only doom themselves.

Michael, however, was gone. The last anyone saw of them that night was Jareth performing emergency magical treatment as Michael's body was barely clinging together in the breeze. Count Linneus and the Order would likely need a few Michael's worth of power to fight an actual civil war. Both Linneus and his men/subjects would need to rely on a unified Order and the Order would need the resolve of Linneus and his people to continue persisting as well. Should either fail the other, both would likely succumb to their enemies or fade into obscurity.

Meanwhile, the trouble with connecting planes is it tends to come with consequences. While the Fell was wiped from Yemaya, the thought that the Fell is still out there somewhere was certain. To those that know of what became of the Fell, the thought it may be beneath their feet waiting for the time and strength to return was chilling.
