The city of Azuran is nestled along the southwestern border of Ryke, becoming a major trade city in the southwest region. Many merchants come inside Ryke and outside come to this city due to the access of goods from the country right across the border. The border had shifted from time to time, over the centuries however currently, the city was in the Protectorate of Ryke's territory. The city originally started out as a small village but as the borders moved, money came to the village as trading became its main source of income. Many people set up their shops in the village as it slowly expanded over time, turning it into the thriving trade city that it has become today.

However, in most cities, there is corruption among some of the people that hold the most power. Nobles and officials both crave money, and each has their own allegiance, which does not always coincide with the rightful ruler. Even some citizens within Ryke hold grudges against the current rulers and upper class. A situation that some counties would take advantage of. Recently a weapons shipment was destroyed, sending new throughout the city as the city guard and the adventurer's guild became more involved in the matter.

Rumors have been circulating about the Lord Constable's corruption though every time someone goes to investigate, they either find nothing or they disappear entirely. But there was always one thing in common the person of interest, the last time she had tried to get the information she slipped the shipment accounts to the adventurer's guild.

Kasumi sat at a table in a nearby cafe; drinking some coffee, she glanced toward the manor house that was across the street. Three guards were at the main gate, and she could see several servants moving about. I still haven't found out for sure who is supplying the brothers, though I think that the Lord Constable has something to do with it. She thought to herself, leaning back in her chair. Her plan was to get information on the manor itself and then plan to sneak into the manor. Rumor has it there was a party coming up for the high class of society in the city.

But for the time being, that was something to deal with at a later time. Her main priority was to gather information any way she can at this point. Though she knew that sneaking in would only get her so far, she would probably end up in a fight. So for now she was simply watching to see how the others moved around the manor.

It had been close to two months since Evelyn had her life radically changed with her sudden disappearance from the original world she lived in, to the brand new one she found herself gazing upon. Even to this day it still felt like a culture shock as the idea of being in such a fantastical world amazed her, but quickly she had managed to ease herself into her surroundings in spite of some confusion, curiosity and even a hint of clumsiness every now and then. Of all of the things she had expected to do with her life, becoming a member of the Adventurer's Guild was not something that she would have dreamt of until she stepped foot into the new world, but she was all for it - she got paid reasonably, people were pleased with her swift service, and it was oddly fun to just explore the locale!

Today was but another run-of-the-mill day however, as she found herself gliding through the stone paths of Azuran. A lot of requests courtesy of the cityfolk needed to be managed after all, and there had to be people from the Guild who could deal with its processing. That's where Evelyn's duties came into play. With her trusty Carrier Bag slung over her back, she made it quick and clear in her mind to get through the morning, bestowing the various houses, shops and inns with their daily mail - each with neat writing issued towards the particular address on the letter as well as a nice red seal on the envelope, with the Guild's insignia.

Hours would pass as her morning work pressed on with various letters and packages being placed and given - some to people, some to unusual hiding spots requested by the customer, as to make sure their goods were not whisked away by some more shadier characters. It wasn't before long that the young guild member found herself close to the likes of the Lord Constable's Manor, as she then approached the well-equipped guards by the main gate with a spring in her step.

"Good morning!" Evelyn chimed, before she offered the package towards one of the guards with a clear, cheery grin on her face. "Adventurer's Guild Duties, I've got a package assigned to this address! Would any of you have anything else that you need?"

"Just that package of yours will be enough for now, missy." The first of the guards politely responded as he gladly received the package, when another voice - louder and grumpier in tone - suddenly interjected. "Oi, mate! How 'bout askin' the guildie to grab a cuppa tea for the three of us as well?! You know none of us can't leave our bloody post just to go to that café there! Of all the damn things that need to be built near the Manor..." Another loud voice sounded off, this time from a larger guard from the group of three who very clearly didn't enjoy the prospect of being tempted by a café every time he was stationed to guard the main gate. He had already seen too many people fired after giving into temptation. Even his best friend, Jimmy...

Of course, an issue like that was the least of the Evelyn's worries - she couldn't help but to giggle at the humorous matter before she nodded in acceptance to the request. "Of course! I guess I could go for something cooling myself, but I'll certainly give you your drinks, gentlemen." The first guard, still with package in one of her hands, smiled behind his helmet before he quickly rummaged in a small money pouch before he would then provide Evelyn with some of the appropriate currency. "Much appreciated. Maybe I'll throw in good word to the guild for your services, perhaps they'll throw you an extra bone or two."

It wasn't before long that Evelyn, coins in hand, crossed the street and towards the café - with the last of the three guards keeping a watchful eye on Evelyn just in case of his ally's hard-earned money was in reality being pilfered. It didn't seem like the case given the trust the common people had for the Adventurer's Guild, but she was still a stranger in a town of corruption, even if she was a cute twin-tailed woman dressed head to heel in guild uniform. With Evelyn quickly asking and paying for three cups of tea for the guards and some freshly squeezed fruit juice for herself, all that was left to do was to patiently wait.

Rosie had spent weeks in the mines last month and she was even more excited than usual to be going out into the populated portion of Ryke. She bounced along, skipping to her next destination. She looked down at the paper she was holding in her hands with a big smile that only got wider as she realized there was a café nearby. Don’t get her wrong, she loved making rock candy with her family, but there was something about a fresh baked sweet that had her drooling all over her loud attire.

It was still a few blocks down, so she kept bouncing around, skillfully maneuvering around the people as she waved and smiled.

“Hi!”

“Oh, hey you!”

“Nice to see you again!”

She responded to the passerby's, seeing several familiar faces and even some new ones. She might be in a different world, but there is something about a community that makes her heart light up. She had remembered faces and names of several miscellaneous acquaintances in this city, and in exchange they had remembered her. It was comforting in some way, to be known by so many people.

This continued all the way to the café, having been stopped by a total of 12 people who struck up a conversation with her. She had heard several things like personal lives, business discussions and even rumors about Azuran, however all of that seemed to fly over her head. Rosie would just stand there and nod excitedly at whatever they would say and frown when they would frown, look sad whenever they looked sad. It was kind of an art really, making sure that she didn't look happy at inappropriate times, which has been a problem more than once for her. That was, until she heard that magic word. Party.

“PARTY?!” Rosie screamed, attracting the attention of the other people in the line. The person talking to her sheepishly nodded, which caused Rosie to take a long and deep inhale, holding her mouth closed as her face slowly turned blue. This went on for a few seconds before she said in a slightly lower volume--

“You guys have parties here?!”

She’s never been to a party in this life! This was super duper awesomely fantastically amazing! Oh she absolutely needed to go. She zoned out for a moment thinking about all of these things she could do for a fancy party while the person she was previously talking to silently left to avoid further embarrassment to this personification of pink. Rosie looked around, confused. She took a moment to think where they might've run off to when she came to a perfectly logical solution. They might have just gone to the bathroom. Yep! That explains it. She turns around to a shortened line and hops along waiting for the final person in front of her to grab their things.

When she finally got to the front of the line she practically forgot the whole ordeal even happened. She made her purchase, selecting more than a few cupcakes. Only having to wait a moment for the worker to grab them from the display before she was able to get them all on one plate. She balanced her very full plate, insisting that she could carry everything on one. It wasn't a lie per se, but it wasn't entirely the truth either. She carefully made her way to a seat, taking a moment to look at her surroundings. The view in the cities were always nice. She looked at the manor across the street. Ooh! A fancy house. The houses were really nice too, especially the rich people houses! They usually weren't decorated enough, always feeling too big and hollow to feel like a home.

Welp! It's not like she'd ever have that problem, she could barely afford to feed her addiction, much less a super huge house in a fancy pants neighborhood. While she thought about it she began inhaling her cupcakes, and suddenly everything felt fine again. Each one was like a little adrenaline rush. So good! Surely nothing will go wrong and she will enjoy her entire meal in complete peace and go home safe and sound!

Tea, he was no conosure, he hated it as a kid and got his head slapped the first time he tried it... Not particularly because he did, but more because he spat it out nearly immedately. Now he sat at a cafe, sipping this cup of leaf juice and lookung at it with distain... They call this tea? What they cut leaves off a dandelion and boil it? He knew good tea! But this display from Ryken was...

Dissappointing.

The Republic had good tea, only tea that mattered, tea that was cared for an actually didn't come as prepackaged garbagr for some fool who doesn't know what tea was to simply PLACE IN A CUP AND CALL IT DONE!

But he was no conosure.

So really he was simply complaining in his own mind to sate his boredom... What really was there to even do? He had no work at the moment despite his new sword, he left that city behind after that... Touchy noble got her hands over his tail... Pettings are nice but... Something about it...

Was freaky, like really freaky.

If he remembered her name he might've told somebody about it but...

Well...

He did have this nice Mithril Blade now.

The blade was nice and light, flexible, good for an amateur... Much to his chagrin that is what he was... Even if his span of ability is much better than those around him. But what could he do... He was untested for now, and he still hadn't answer the question his master put forth... if he was to achieve mastery, true mastery, he would need that answer...

"What is a sword..." the dog eared man said between sips of good for Ryken standards tea. Till his ears perked up to a noisy person nearby. "Tsk, parties, had enough of those already... Nothing but pomp and blustering around nobles..." the dog man grumbled, in abit of a huff... Though oddly, his tail wagged abit at the thought...

Taste was subjective. For some folks, the best meals were found in the most famous and expensive restaurants in the lands. Others, by obscure chefs hidden away in remove villages abundant with rich resources to cook food. Some would even be as plebeian as claim that their own family cooking was the best bar none. For Orchid, though not exactly a critique, wanted to taste what the world had to offer. And so she found herself in a quaint little cafe, eating an flan with a cup of coffee. You can learn a lot from what sort of things a place serves. Conventional knowledge of some meals hold deep implications that most go blissfully unaware of.

As Orchid observes, the flan was delightfully chill. In her time in Ryke, Orchid has never really noticed a high level of technology. While she may not have been very worldly in her past life, even her remote village had basic utilities such as refrigeration, lights, and hot water. So for this humble little cafe to be able to create dishes that are not merely cold, but chilled, to be able to remain at a freezing or less temperature, had implications. Did the owners posses some sort of device that kept things chill? Did they dig a cellar that was insulated enough from the outside temperature to remain frigid below? Where did they even learn to create such sweets, gathering the vanilla needed to flavor it?

And then of course there was the coffee. Something so ubiquitous in the last world that you could dig through the trash in a desert and find a cup of coffee in it. You shouldn't drink it, but it will be there regardless. Did Ryke have the biome to support the growth of coffee, who's rich and bitter tastes can shift and sour from conditions as simple as the way the wind blows? Did they perhaps have an trade empire that took advantage of isolated villages and towns in the frontier, enslaving them to grow these precious beans drunk by peasants and nobles alike? How much blood, sweat, and steel was needed to bring these simple pleasures to Orchid's table? Was untold tales of violence and destruction brought forth the fortunes that Ryke enjoys, and what future does that hold for Orchid?

So much to contemplate that Orchid was already on her fourth plate of flan by the time she stopped thinking about it. It was good. Coffee was mid.

Eating these delicate treats and sipping her drink through the skull-like mouth guard, Orchid took a moment to observe the other patrons. Most came and went, ordering a drink and leaving shortly after. Others however stayed, and some of these looked a touch more colorful than the servants that stopped by and ordered to go. Orchid observed those who stayed using her Metagaming ability, casually seeing who these people were and what sort of lives they lived. Most were much what she expected: peasants and lay-folk who barely warranted more than a passing glance. Others however carried a more interesting set of titles and aura. Two Orchid could almost immediately pin as fresh-faced adventurers, possibly others who have traveled from the last world. Another was a swordsman, beastfolk, though that was obvious just by looking at him. Orchid was curious what his skills could be, even if he's merely an Apprentice Swordsman. The last one was bit harder to pin down. A ninja of all people, and roughly the same level as Orchid. Though she finds grades to be an unreliable indicator of true strength anyways, it at least told Orchid that this woman was someone with the considerable experience and ability to invest not in technique, but stats, making her different from the common rabble who wouldn't even know the difference.

Well, maybe it wasn't Orchid's business anyways. Strange folks are a dime-a-dozen, and Orchid can hardly throw a rock without a 50/50 chance of hitting someone from the old world. And chances are if she threw a rock randomly anyways, it's usually because of the strange influence brought about being in the presence of others like her. So Orchid figured she'd just bid her time, enjoy this moment of peace. As she was sipping her coffee she heard a very loud pinkette talk about a party. "Hmm. Last time I went to a party was with Victorique... That wasn't too bad, certain guests notwithstanding. I wonder if I could get an invite?" Orchid says to herself as she finishes the coffee. "Damn I miss soda."

Metagaming - Appraisal D - Orchid knows she's in some strange sort of Isekai with quasi RPG mechanics, so she is going to take advantage of the fact she can examine objects and creatures in a gamified manner to try and figure out information that would otherwise be unavailable to her. Typically she'd use this ability to gauge someone's strength and abilities, though she may also just use it to read up on equipment and other objects. - Grade D - 2 Post Cooldown

Kasumi watched as the guild member walked up to the guards who seemed rather familiar with her. Cocking an eyebrow she watched as the interaction went along. Would the guild have a hand in this business? I mean that doesn't seem likely I suppose but something I should look into. But if I can manage to get my hands on a party invitation that would allow me access to a lot of information. She thought to herself taking another drink of her coffee as the guild girl started to walk over toward the cafe that she was sitting outside of.

Looking up to the sky for a moment there was a cold breeze that blew down the street that sent a chill down her spine. Turning her attention back on the arrival she watched as the girl got drinks and returned them to the guards. There were so many questions about the whole situation and she was about to go talk to the guild girl when someone shouted something about a party to which Kasumi instantly along with the other patrons in the cafe turned to look at the woman who very much looked like a street performer.

When she stood up to approach the guild girl she heard someone complain about parties which when she turned to look there was a guy who looked like a samurai and sounded very old for his age. Though he seemed to hate the nobles though hate might have been a strong word to use in this situation. Though then again there were a lot of people in the city that didn't trust the nobles here and for good reason.

Then she heard an orc mention soda which caught her off guard for a moment. Clearing her throat she approached the guild girl after all maybe she would be able to offer up some more information than she could from watching the estate itself. Though that was a big if on the matter. Smiling as she approached the guild member. "Say you wouldn't know much about the insides or that building you were just as right? I heard there was going to be a party and I was hoping you would know how to get an invitation. Kasumi stated that she figured that the guards would be hand delivering the invites which meant that she was probably going to have to ambush.

Meanwhile, across the streets, the guards that were at the gate a few moments ago were not walking inside the compound as several new guards took their places. Kasumi knew every 8 hours the guards would change their positions which would be the chance to sneak in though there were several ways to accomplish this mission. Kasumi leaned in so that those close would only be able to hear without any enhancements. "To be honest, I want to see if the rumors about the guy is true supposedly that house is pretty fancy," Kasumi stated as she clasped her hand together. In her mind this was probably going to be her best chance without getting close to get any information before getting more direct with her observation of the estate.

Evelyn Ophelia82191849_p0_master1200.jpg

"Happy to help! Enjoy the rest of your day, alright?" Evelyn cheerfully said as she waved off to the guards of whom she had served. Considering the very minor amount of hiccups that occurred and the guards enjoying their given cups of tea - black with a bit of added lemon - she couldn't help but to feel a little proud of herself for a job well done. Returning back to the café as to enjoy the glass of juice that she still had waiting for her, it was at that moment the guild girl was suddenly approached. Not by another guard or even one of the waiters; but by a woman who wore the appearance of a bona-fide rogue with pride. Heck, she even looked beyond just a common rogue... A kunoichi, even!

Evelyn's eyes lit up. It wasn't often that an actual adventurer like Kasumi requested her own service of all things, but it was more than enough to excite her. For a brief second, she struggled to think of the right words to say - it was like she came face-to-face with a protagonist from a manga - except that person requested her presence? What an honor! She almost failed to pay attention to anything, or anybody else around her as she was enamored by Kasumi, even with Rosie's jovially loud voice echoing through her ears like an excited child.

"Ah, uhm, no!" Evelyn stammered a bit before she continued. "I'm afraid that I don't know anything about their business at the manor. It's not like they'd invite us in willingly anyways if it's just for a package... Us Guild Couriers need to value the personal privacy of our customers, after all! We can't, no - we mustn't - break their trust when we represent a body of people who are something greater!" That was when she casually pointed a finger, square and directly at Kasumi.

"People like you, Miss...! Oh, wait, where are my manners!" She then exclaimed. "I just... I just didn't expect this all to be happening so soon! Ah, ahem~!" Clearly caught up in her own fangirling, Evelyn took a step back before she began to breathe deeply; in and out, in and out, until she opened her eyes and proceeded with her usual greeting, lowering herself into a cute little curtsey.

"My name is Evelyn Ophelia, member of the Adventurer's Guild. Be it rain, hail, snow or sun, if you have a request, we'll get it done! I mainly just manage the requests in this area instead of going on the big jobs that people like you are usually a part of but... I'm happy to help!"

Resting back into a more neutral position, Evelyn restarted her speech after a beat, softening her tone of voice. "A lot of the nobles here care more for the deliveries and the requests rather than the people in the Guild who supply them with what they need. I don't think they'd find someone like me important enough to invite to a party, especially when I've already given them what they needed..."

NOTE: Unless any of you have any ideas on what the package that Evelyn gave to the guards would have been for roleplay importance & buildup, I'm fine with that specific detail being deemed as unimportant and excluded if desired. Up to you all. 👍

Lazily swirling the remains of her coffee in her cup, Orchid was just people watching. She's been doing this a lot. Seeing what folks were up to, listening in on their conversations, honestly 1/4 of the time Orchid was pretty sure they were talking about some illegal stuff, usually along the lines of tax evasion or counterfeiting. Nothing that really interested Orchid though, but she listened anyways to form her own thoughts and opinions on the matter. Usually something along the lines of "That sounds boring as hell", but every so often Orchid gets a diamond in the rough.

She spots the ninja approach the guild girl and ask in not a very subtle tone that she wanted to get to that nobleman's party. How serendipitous, Orchid wanted to go as well. Lazily, Orchid wondered what sort of things one does at a noble party. She imagines wining and dining, and maybe talking to folks too but what could Orchid even talk to them about? Though she suppose she could try to wow them with her foreign knowledge, but if she doesn't play her cards right she could easily just end up looking like some raving loon talking about an imaginary fantasy world. That's when the orc widen her eyes and realized that she was in the middle of a random event. The whole time she had been here drinking her coffee and eating pudding, she had found herself in one of those random encounters that could potentially yield those mysterious little points that she sometimes gets to use to increase her abilities.

Well, Orchid did want to get stronger, and even if she doesn't have to fight anything, she saw no reason why not to pursue this random event for the payoff later. Plus it could be fun to try and rely on her newer social skills. So with something resembling a plan in her head, Orchid raised her hand to pay her tab, then approached the two guild women. As she did so the younger novice loudly introduced herself as Evelyn Ophelia, and Orchid had a feeling that the two shared something of a color motif: Dark Green. "Oh yeah, this girl is definitely an old worlder. Or just has good taste. I think the former." Orchid thinks to herself as she reaches the duo. She arrives just in time to hear Evelyn explain that it's highly unlikely that the nobles would invite someone like her to the party, since she's a mere courier. This was indeed likely, which is where Orchid stepped in.

"Excuse me, I couldn't help but hear that you're delivering things to that mansion? Don't mean to butt into your conversation, but I'm also interested in an invitation to the party." Orchid says nodding to the ninja first, in order to recongize that Orchid indeed was butting into her business and was sincerely apologetic for it. And then she turned back towards Evelyn since she's the one Orchid really wanted to talk to. "I wouldn't mind meeting some members of high society in Ryke. I was wondering if you could deliver a message for me to that noble holding the party so that I may request an invitation. My name is Orchid, I'm a mercenary who recently just put down a rebellion in the Underbelly of Ryke. I hope perhaps my name could carry some weight to this noble."

The buzz of people, the new faces and all of them rearing to get to a party. So they loved parties here just as much as her old world! This was fantastic! She used to be a super party planner–Well, she thinks– and now she has a chance to show these people how to really party. Of course there's no wrong way to throw a party, but there most definitely is a right way.

Initially, Rosie didn’t pay much attention to the others around her, just the girl in the cute little green outfit. She butted in halfway through the conversation with a big smile on her face. “You’re from the adventurer’s guild? So like what do they do there? Probably some totally super awesome adventures. Ooh, do dragons exist here? Have you ever seen a dragon? Have you ever seen a baby dragon? They actually have the softest little scales, well, the baby dragon I knew did, we met some other adult dragons and they were less soft but I assume all baby dragons are soft. I don't know why I assumed that because it might be totally wrong and I don't want to be insensitive to dragons or anything.” She spoke a mile a minute, almost unintelligible to those who weren’t listening closely. She invaded the poor girl’s space, her face getting uncomfortably close to hers before she pulled back all at once.

More people joined in on asking where the invitation was as she gasped dramatically. “That’s why I came over here!” She had forgotten in her excitement. “Yes! Super duper extra double chocolate brownies! This is going to be the bestest party ever! Well–I guess I need a ticket huh?” She clearly deflated, her hair actually beginning to flatten before puffing back up. She held her hands up in surprise as she got another idea.

“All of us! Lookie! We’re all looking for an invitation to a super duper party! We all must be super duper party ponies–I mean super duper party people!” She corrected herself, smiling widely and innocently.

Rosie looked over to the unique faces of her new little group, excited to get to know them and make new friends. Maybe this could be her new friend group! Yes! They would have a delicious adventure and become the bestest of friends! There were three that were already clearly interested in getting an invitation, but her sense was telling her there might be another who would want to get in on the party. It was more of an empathetic occurrence than her actual supernatural sense phenomenon. She really didn’t want to leave anybody out.

So she looked over back to the cafe, scanning until she saw the man with the fluffiest ears imaginable.

“HEY!” She screamed. “YOU WANNA LOOK FOR SOME PARTY TICKETS WITH US?” Rosie was practically shaking with excitement–No, not practically, she was literally buzzing with energy and happiness at the current predicament she found herself in. She couldn’t wait to go on a super adventure with her new friends!

@ those around bruh
"...Gods... just how much more loud could they be...?" he said roughly about a second before being utterly assaulted volume-wise by this pink humanoid hurricane of.... partyness... he was stunned, utterly, but her shouting in close proximity, his ears quickly going flat to try and recover from the shock...

In return, the man blinked a few times, put down the personal equivalent of an UTTER traveesty of a tea and rubbed where his head laid upon his head. "..You... Want me to... Come to a party...?" the still ear ringing man asked, abit unsure from the ringing in his poor canine ears. Shaking off the stun, he gave a small wave to the owner of the place, sat up and regarded her fully, a narrowed eyed stare examining this pink person as one might a potential foe... At least, she was one in regards to his poor ears.

"I am Ko Matatsu, and I have no desire to join in on a party for no reason, a party I am not even invited too." he regarded coldly... Before scratching his head and seemingly switching tones rather quickly. "besides some party made by some noble fudgy dudgy ain't gonna be nothin' but boring posh and huff as they sit around acting important and drinking terrible wine.

Not even a lick of swordplay, a proper good time, no noble rat gonna get a swordsman like me to stand there and look pretty for a night! Tsk, I can be treated like a hound somewhere else."

Kasumi let out a sigh as Evelyn told her she didn't know anything about what was inside the box and then went on about not breaking their trust. Glancing back over at the manor for a second the girl then introduced herself. Looking back at the girl Kasumi replied, "Kasumi, but it's not what they think on the matter there are other ways to get into a party. All you need is well an invitation." Kasumi smiled as she heard something large walking up behind her.

Turning to see what it was she saw it was an orc. Well now, if they are going to join in I guess the muscle has been found. Kasumi thought to herself brushing some loose hair out of her face as the Orc spoke up. "That might work, though unless you are a noble and a friend of the Lord Constable I doubt he is going to let you in without a reason..." Kasumi paused for a moment as she closed her eyes trying to think. "We can go with that but if it fails then we need to relieve the guards making the invitation deliveries," Kasumi stated keeping her voice hushed to limit the people around them.

That was when another individual came over and out of all the people Kasumi had met this girl was by far the strangest of them all. Though she seemed eager to go to the party though she figured that the girl had no idea what was really going to happen. Kasumi wasn't going there to loot the estate's vault though she wouldn't mind if she did. She was there to find evidence of the man's connection with the brothers of Arkanine. "Right," Kasumi replied then as the woman shouted Kasumi swung her head around to look back at the woman. "Keep it down," Kasumi quickly commanded as she brought a finger up to her face as a sign to be quiet.

That was when the man she noticed earlier stood up and now approached the group. Though he seemed to be less enthused than everyone else in the group for the moment. "Sure, I suppose but that doesn't mean there is nothing you won't gain from it," Kasumi stated as she approached the swordsman. "Though putting a corrupt noble out on the streets doesn't sound like a fun time to you?" Kasumi inquired as she smirked before sitting down in a seat.

Evelyn was free to deliver the message if she decided to though there was no telling what the guards would do. The foot traffic around the area as well started to pick up as well. A lot of people moved through this part of the city due to the ease of access to the other districts.

Evelyn tapped a finger to her chin in question to Kasumi's plans in mind, as she tried to keep her head straight in spite of the fangirling she had done just a second ago. There needed to be a method to gain an invitation to the manor, but judging by what she was saying - it absolutely didn't need to be a formal one. If she could find some sort of excuse to be invited in, perhaps as a service, or even... a request!

Her eyes lit up at the sudden idea. While adventurers likely weren't too welcome on the grounds of the manor, there very much could be an offer or two created that could cement itself as a temporary loophole! It was at that time, in her sudden stroke of inspiration, she was about to speak her mind out. Raising a finger, she was just about ready to give a short explanation to Kasumi. When all of a sudden, things went from about a 3 to an 11 in the social interaction scale, as the people who turned her attention to her went from one intriguing kunoichi to three 'adventurers'. As far as she could tell. She couldn't quite place what Rosie was meant to be, but her exotic outfit and her enthusiasm had to mean something, right?

However, it was that same pink-haired woman who responded to the name 'Rosie' that quickly invaded her personal space. She gave a yelp, jostling backwards in shock as she became sudden victim to the party girl's various questions. Almost miraculously, the juice that she was drinking barely seemed to lose any of its liquid as it sloshed rigorously inside of its glass.

"Uh, yes! Yep! Uh-huh! I don't know what that means... No, not really. I don't know what to say about that, wha...?" Immediately she was thrown into a spin as she desperately tried to answer every question that was sent her way. But almost immediately she was thrown out of pace by how overwhelming Rosie was, and could only manage to give answers that at the time made no sense.

Thankfully, it was not for long that Evelyn had to endure Rosie's seemingly endless barrage of enthusiasm courtesy of Kasumi's demands, taking a breath as to recompose herself before she heard the third of the other colorful characters of sorts communicate with her. Finally, someone more reasonable to talk to! She turned over to Orchid, still looking a little overwhelmed by everything that was going on, before she took one more anxious breath.

"Ah, I'm Evelyn! Pleased to meet you." She greeted the orc who had confirmed herself to be a mercenary, not really showing any worry or fear towards her imposing figure of a warrior nor the fearsomeness orcs - especially the more physically adept - are usually known to carry in spades. Her eyes glistened as she heard what was to be a simple task. An invitation request to the party? Even if her own idea of perhaps entering through an Adventurer's request didn't work, asking for an invitation through a letter wouldn't hurt, right? "So you're looking to seek an audience with the Lord? Well, you've joined the right group! First of all, here! You can write that letter you wanted to send!"

All of a sudden, she'd place her large carrier bag on a nearby table, setting her glass of juice aside before she whipped out a bird's feather, a closed inkwell, and a sheet of paper custom-designed by some of the Guild's scholars to be used for written letters. Clicking open the inkwell before lightly dipping the feather in said ink, she then offered the writing quill to Orchid with a grin before she explained her idea, finally getting her chance to do so.

"It's not a perfect idea, but surely there needs to be an odd job or two that the Lord requires? It doesn't even need to be something big, like sweeping a floor or killing rats in a wine cellar! Maybe even both! As long as we get audience to his manor, then it's that problem solved, right? Otherwise, this letter could help you get a step closer too if he accepts."

Orchid was slightly starting to regret engaging the group when it suddenly became a lot more active. She thought it'd just be maybe two or three, not five people all the sudden coming together to chat about this party. Or maybe that pinkette was just quickly exhausting Orchid's social batteries. Either way Orchid simply stood there in stoic silence until the original target of her conversation, Evelyn, spoke directly to Orchid. She offered a straightforward way to get an invitation to the party: simply send a letter to the man and ask. Orchid was a bit bashful since she didn't exactly know who she was even asking, just that she heard about a party and wanted to go. Fortunately it seems like this Kasumi woman knew more about the Lord Constable, so Orchid took the ink feather and paper and went to sit with the ninja.

Thinking about what to write, Orchid looked to Kasumi. "You seem to know the lord for some reason or another. Mind giving me tips about how to address him, maybe how to present myself in this letter so I can get an invitation? If I can get in, I'll see about trying to get you in too." Orchid knew that this girl likely wasn't going to go to the party just to kiss up to nobility. And if Orchid heard correctly, Kasumi was trying to stop some sort of corruption? Frankly speaking, Orchid wouldn't be surprised if the Lord Constable was involved in some illegal activities. Most are, and usually get away with it due to connections and money. But if anything it was those same connections and money that Orchid could possibly exploit to get some work in: nobles love to hire mercs like her to do jobs they can't be seen handling, and Orchid is nothing if not professional in her mercenary portfolio. But if what Kasumi said is true and this noble really is corrupt, Orchid was willing to risk her professional reputation to play the turncoat and get her an in to do what must be done.

And if Orchid could scoop a little bit of loot off the top, all the better.

"...Well? You've got me, are yea gonna tell me what yea want?" The man simply shrugged at Kasumi's words, guess he was being wrapped in on this now... "but if I end up a criminal record on my head yours is coming off." Despite his bluster he couldn't hide his wagging tail showing off his excitement...

"...No really you got a plan for this or are you just collecting people to die for you in this venture. Cause I sure as hell ain't gonna die, before I can snoop around the root cellar there... Might have some half way decent tea..." he was, he'd repeat, not a picky man.

He stood average on height and build but his clothes hid the muscle well enough, he seemed to have no true armor and was armed solely with a blade at his hip, a curved sword, single edged with a round guard. His canine ears perked and twitched at every noise around them.

"....So?

When are we gonna do it?

Don't tell me you need an invitation after all that talking..."

Rosie was shaking with excitement. Literally. Her body was vibrating so violently any onlooker might assume she was some sort of ticking time bomb. In a sense, she was. She managed to keep quiet for almost an entire minute while they talked, gathering everyone around. She worried if she yelled any more that she might scare some of them away, and she certainly didn’t want that. But–She just…Can’t…Hold…It…In…

A finger was placed in her face as she was clearly told to keep it down. All of the energy drained out of her as she sheepishly nodded, one of her hands pretending to zip her lips up. She didn’t want to cause any trouble for her new friends, and she knew sometimes she was maybe a bit too loud. So she just stood there and listened for all of two minutes before she was back to buzzing again.

Rosie absolutely lost it when the cat man started talking again and she couldn’t help but squeak in excitement as she saw his ears twitch and slightly move as he talked. So cute! She took a huge, colossal, ginormous deep breath in.

“So who’s this lord we’re talking about, are lords kinda like princesses? I really only know that princesses are royalty and don’t know the other fancy names. Isn’t that kind of weird? I mean I grew up here but I still don’t have the first clue on how everything works. Probably because I work in the mines. They’re a little dusty but hitting rocks all day is so fun! It’s like hitting a hard, solid pinata that doesn’t have any candy inside! What was I talking about? Oh yeah! This super amazing adventure which I’m sure will be super duper safe and not at all deadly or dangerous in the least. After all, it’s just a party invitation, who would risk their life for that? Well, I think I would understand if it was like a really really really REALLY good party but I’ve only seen one really really really REALLY good party in my life before and let me tell you they are not easy to make! I mean the catering alone is hard, but then there’s all the decorations and the music and the games and the ice. Don’t even get me started on the ice. People are very picky about their ice. Apparently a square isn’t good enough for people anymore!” She took a small breath. “Anyway I’m sure an organised person such as yourself knows how to get an invitation to a totally fantabulous amazing party, because if you didn’t and you let us all down I’m sure we’d remember it for the rest of our lives! Always imagining what it would be like to go to that one party that they really really looked forward to or had to do something very very important at or just really very much wanted to see the inside of a fancy mansion. Forever scarring us and taking away that memory FOREVER!!! But, no pressure.”

She smiled widely, having finished her rant in record time, only some of it being actually eligible. “So, super friends, what do we do first?”

Kasumi looked around at the people that seemed interested in going to the party. Which was still a week's time away from them currently. She watched as Evelyn set her bag on the table and pulled out some paper and ink to write a letter that Orchid was proposing to send to get them into the party. But there was still plenty of things to do in the meantime leading up to the whole thing, information about the manor needed to be gathered either from the inside or from someone who had worked in the building before.

Which she knew that plenty of people were hired and fired from the manor frequently for one reason or another. Some of which she was sure harbored resentment to the Lord Constable. But the real question was how many would actually act against him or give away information that could be traced back to them if someone did some digging.

Brought out her thoughts as Orchid asked her a question. Folding her arms across her chest she closed her eyes and thought for a moment.
"Say you have some weapons you want to sell to him but it will take time to move them into the city. State you want to meet beforehand and that the party would be the best cover to complete the deal. State that you will need your whole team to be at the party to ensure the weapons get in undetected." Kasumi stated as she knew the lord was moved by greed. She was going off the assumption that he would jump at the chance to get more weapons into the city.

She then turned to the samurai as he now spoke up. "You all can enjoy the party while it lasts, I'm just after whats in his personal study. So there is no need to fear a criminal title or anything like that," Kasumi stated to Ko with a simple shrug. "The plan is simple, get an invitation or invitations, walk into the party at which I will sneak away and do what I need to do. The rest of you can enjoy the party maybe make a few friends of the upper class and benefit from that," Kasumi replied as she paused for a moment.

"Yes, I need an invitation do I look like a noble? Not to mention if I were to try and sneak in by myself there would be a higher chance of me getting caught. With a group and doing it during a party there will be more people for the guards to keep an eye on. No more no less," Kasumi concluded as she glanced over toward the manor in question.

The new guards that had replaced the previous ones were in their positions. Kasumi knew from watching the manor for a few days now the guards changed out every 8 hours. Though that wasn't going to be an issue during the party, the inside was what was going to be an issue. She had no idea what it looked like on the inside or the amount of security he was going to have.

"...I've dealt with one noble before... How I got this sword... Proper exchange for..." he blushed lightly. "Services rendered..."

Title: Tail End.

He spoke of it, but... it certainly sounded like it was worse than it was... Or maybe it was worse than he thought?

"I've no clue how to get in there... I've dedicated training to the sword, leagues better than some home grown rodent who picks up a sharpened stick and calls himself a swordsman..." he observed the group... A handful of them certainly weren't warriors for sure... The big one though... One in the helm... Certainly was.

"I've no skill in line to subterfuge... But if I am simply there to drink terrible southerner tea and pretend to be important, I suppous theres worse way to spend an evening..." he agreed, at least, he had no true expectations this would go well...

"...I am Ko, that is all you all will need. I am a blade searching for an answer." His tail was once again giving away his excitement.... The way it wagged back and forth merrily.

Lying huh? Orchid wasn't too sure if she was good at that. Then again, she did know a few people who could feasibly be good for a job like this... Orchid would consider it. But in case this doesn't work, she also has a back up plan. Orchid begins writing a letter to the lord in regards of striking a business deal with him. She is after all a somewhat prolific mercenary who had recently been involved in the massive conflict in the Underbelly. Orchid now is in possession of a large amount of weapons and arms, however before she decides to do business she wishes to meet the lord to make arrangements in person. Considering that he has a party going on, she figures that an invitation to the party would be the best time to discuss business. Her letter was straightforward and lacked any sort of cypher, since Orchid didn't really know the legality of selling arms in the city. As far as she is concerned, she's just selling loot.

But there was a second letter that Orchid penned, and this one would go to whoever was the head maid or housekeeper of the Lord's manor. In this one, Orchid would disguise her mercenary origins and instead present herself as a mere maiden in need of work, using the alias Therka. Instead of listing her martial accomplishments, Orchid tries to sell her Domestic skills, as well as her general affable personality and even medical expertise to present herself as a worthy addition to the house servants. This would be Orchid's Plan B in the event that she cannot secure the invitation to the party. She has no doubts that the lord would need plenty of servants, so getting in as just another helping hand could work. Though Orchid doubts she can afford to be armed and armored as a housekeeper.

When Orchid finished her letters, she gave both to Evelyn. "Give the fancy one to the lord, or whoever is suppose to get the letters for the lord. But this one, please make sure it gets to the head maid or butler. And here's a little tip to grease the wheels, if need be." Orchid makes sure to give Evelyn a few Rykes. Ever since that Underbelly job Orchid hasn't been left too wanting for money. She wasn't noble rich, but she could afford to tip people at least. Orchid then turned to the ninja, Kasumi. Since Orchid was part of this little conspiracy now, may as well know what Kasumi was up to, less Orchid end up doing something to compromise her mission. "So... In the event that you and I meet at the party, how are we going to play it out? Pretend we don't know each other? Try to 'stop' you, but actually help you escape? Just want to know what to do in the event the unexpected happens."

Evelyn Ophelia82191849_p0_master1200.jpg
"I... can't really say that subterfuge would be one of my strengths either." The guild member responded quietly as she couldn't help herself but to shift a little nervously at the thought. Grabbing the letters of which Orchid had finally offered to her after some writing, it was true that the idea of them managing to infiltrate a place like a Lord's manor reasonable was a little... farfetched, if she had to honestly admit.

She then shifted her head around to each of the four other members of the strange group she all of a sudden found herself as a part of. Aside from Kasumi, who quite expectantly was the type who had this as an idea to begin with and had the knowledge and ability to do so given the resources, the 'team' didn't seem like they could easily make it in. First of all was quite obviously Evelyn herself. She was about as green to this world as the uniform she had on her back, and there wasn't really anything that was too noteworthy aside from her status in the Guild, at least for now.

Then there were Ko and Orchid. Fine and respectable warriors without a doubt, capable of handling themselves in many a situation. Taking down a corrupt lord would be easier in their hands, if such a venture didn't result in the potential requirement of subtlety instead of the arts of combat. Evelyn hated to judge, and didn't want to downplay their abilities, but she couldn't help but to think that maybe it was the wrong person for the wrong job. Very talented individuals, just not well suited in spite of their motivation.

And then there was Rosie... who was frankly still confusing. Despite that mouth of hers that ran a mile a minute, she couldn't make an iota of sense of what the woman was trying to explain and likely wanted to just join the group because of the mention of the word 'party'. She seemed to be just a common - or uncommon - civilian, and lest she was caught with her distinct lack of subtlety, God knows what would have happened to her.

"If anything... my faith in this isn't in the right place even if we do get in." Reluctantly, she grabbed the Rykes from Orchid as a bribe, feeling them in the palm of her hand to be the real deal; or so she thought. "I'm mainly just here to deliver the news and requests to those who need it in this area, they wouldn't really decide to request the presence of me even if it for their mail. I wouldn't be warranted entry to a manor just so I can supply them with my services, especially as a low-ranking member of the Adventurer's Guild..."

Kasumi looked at Ko as he spoke his mind on the matter. This caused her to let out a sigh as she motioned for the group to follow her to a corner section of the outdoor cafe with fewer people and a little bit further from the road. "That's all you need to do, sip on some tea and just enjoy the evening," Kasumi stated with a nod as she folded her arms across her chest. In her mind, it didn't matter what the group did once they were in. If they wanted to smash things that were their own prerogative on the matter.

As the Orc penned two letters Kasumi occasionally peered over her shoulder. She cocked an eyebrow as she saw the first letter completed and then started to write the second. Taking a seat Kasumi glanced over at the manor, there were several servants that came into view as they carried clothes and various other items. The three guards at the front remained alert, though they only were armed with swords at least the ones outside of the manor grounds.

When the Orc gave the messenger money Kasumi let out a small chuckle. "Should have just started with that made the bride as sort of an insurance policy for the weapons, but I suppose that works as well," Kasumi concluded as several guards walked out from the main manor house and then walked to the left out of sight. In her mind that meant that the building on the right side was probably a barracks for the manor's guards. Though she couldn't confirm that for certain right now.

Kasumi looked at Evelyn and brought her hand to her chin. "You don't need to lie, just state that you have a letter for the lord and the head maid or butler. Simply pass the letters off and wait for a reply then off you go to come back here. There is no need to come up with a story," Kasumi stated with a nod of her head.

Sensing a change in the wind, Ko excuses himself and dissappears down the street.

It appears, despite some half attempts, he would not be joining them for the main event. Such as it is.

He exited stage left.

After handing the letter off to Evelyn, Orchid needed to make some preparations. Since she was going to a fancy party, she was going to need the clothes for it. Either as a maid, or a lady. So Orchid looked to the loudly, bubbly girl. She did mention hosting a bunch of parties in the past, or something like that, so she seemed like the person Orchid should ask about getting ready for a gala. "Hey, pinkette, you want to help me pick out some clothes for this party? I'm either going to need something fancy or a maid outfit. I'm not much of a fashionista, more of an axe and armor kind of person. You seem like someone who knows what'll look good on me."

Looking over to Evelyn. She didn't seem particularly eager for this skullduggery, which was somewhat fair considering that she was likely a novice and wasn't too interested in whatever politicking that the ninja was planning on doing. "Hey. You're an adventurer aren't you? Putting aside whatever conspiracy the ninja has, this is a chance for you to be more than just a mailman. If all you do is deliver letters for people, that's all anyone will think of you as. Not some adventurer, not as anyone important, just a lowly courier. Now maybe that's all you want to be, and if so you do you." Orchid stands up, paying her bill with the cafe and walking over to Rosie. "But if you want to be more, be better, than come shopping with me and this bubble of joy here. We're going to need to gussie ourselves up for this party, one way or another." If Evelyn really wanted to back out, Orchid wasn't going to fault her. But if she was willing to step up, than Orchid was willing to see her grow.

Evelyn Ophelia82191849_p0_master1200.jpg
Evelyn gazed upon the letter of which Orchid gave to her prior, wracking her head around the responsibility thrusted into her own hands as she was still taken a little aback by what was going on. Here she was, with the orc otherwise explaining the situation that she found herself in, with almost perfect detail. For a brief second, she was just about ready to raise a finger in protest to the idea that she was an official adventurer, up until she heard the rest of her discussion.

She was right. While Eveyln's time in this strange new world was short at least for now, letting her imagination run wild with all of these adventures and quests were what she wanted to do ever since she was reading books as a little girl. Yet again did the reality of the world rear its ugly head yet again, but this time she was actually in one of the fantastical lands that she had once dreamed of being a part of! And here she was, at the cusp of it due to being a part of the Adventurer's Guild but still being stuck as a lowly mailgirl of all things. Sure, it wasn't something she despised, but it wasn't what she had hoped for.

"I... ok, fine, I'm in!" Even with a light hint of hesitation in her tone of voice, it was clear that the courier and member of the Guild was in on the idea to join her fellow ladies to acquire more outfits. "I'll still need to send this letter - and as much as I believe that this won't easily be approved or even be acquired by the Lord... it's still worth a shot, right? But business can wait."

Kasumi looked at the group as she folded her arms across her chest. "We should focus on getting the invitations first before we go looking for clothes. They will be useless if we don't get those papers," Kasumi pointed out as Orchid spoke about getting more clothes for the party. "So for now let's focus on the task at hand which is getting the letter from here to that gate," Kasumi spoke leaning back in her chair.

That was when Orchid turned to look at the delivery girl and tried to reason with her. By the looks of the girl she seemed to be milling the idea over in her head. She wasn't sure what the girl was going to say or what she was going to do next. The plan was simple to deliver the letters and the rest hopefully would take care of itself. At least that is what she thought in her mind. "That is entirely up to you," Kasumi replied with a nod of her head.

"So this is like a top secret mission?! Awesome!" She said loudly before she caught herself, now whispering. "I mean, awesome." She nodded along with everything everyone said, despite her attention obviously being elsewhere. She'd blink a few times before her eyes refocused on the group.

"Outfits! Yes! I used to have a super good friend who was amazing at outfits but I'm sure I can manage. How do you feel about streamers and balloons? Specifically enough balloons to slightly float off the ground." She wiggled her eyebrows. It seems while she is able to procure outfits that would be considered formal wear, her idea of a good outfit differs from most. Despite that, it seems the group has a loyal member that would do anything to get into the party. Whether that is a positive or a negative would be seen.
