Graded [Wmgroth Town] He Said, She Said

Euthalia Apricot
Mentions: TheTimePiece TheTimePiece

There was nothing to do other than to wait, after handing over the letter. The expected degrading of Tama's mood ensued, but not to an alarming degree. The fact she got Tama to read it was already a big win, which was was pretty relieved by. Euthalia never before realised how awkward it could be to just stand and stare at someone reading. This made her experience the full extend of it. Especially as she was eager to learn the answer, to see if their efforts would pay off in any way shape or form.

A bit of laughter. That was a good sign? It wasn't like she was taking this as an outright joke, right? Euthalia could give a sigh of relief when it turned out she took this letter pretty well. “His sincerity alone was enough for him to reconsider it.” She wasn't going to hide the fact they'd told him to change it, not when Tama saw through it instantly. Instead, she figured it could only work in Shaamil's favour. “That's how important it was to him to be able to reach you with this letter.”

As expected, the thing she'd pried out of Shaamil was brought up. His usage of mercenaries. She decided not to instantly address it. Instead, letting Tama finish her line of thought. When Tama asked why she should go on a date with him, Euthalia figured that 'because I'll take you on one otherwise' wasn't going to be the response to give here. Instead, she opted for a more tactical approach. One that might appeal to Tama in a way that wouldn't later come back to bite Shaamil. “I've been able to conclude that his feelings are sincere, but his ability to express them is given shape through his merchant instincts, rather than naturally. I believe giving him a date might allow you to pierce through that and to see more of whom he is outside of business. I'll let you in on a secret, namely that he already admitted to us that his business practices, such as sending out his mercenaries, are less important to him than his desire to get to know you better. If even something as simple as his abstaining from using his usual signature speaks to you, then I can assure you that talking with him in person is going to be a worthy endeavour, as it would allow you to see more of such changes and different sides of him, even though it might be a gradual endeavour.”

Hopefully that worked in getting her more interest in dating Shaamil, whilst also allowing him a bit more leeway in 'failing' to be better at first by warming her up to being patient with him. She hoped she wasn't overreaching with both those goals, but her calling him 'cute' was a good sign. Good enough for her to want to root for this to be a success now.

Islwyn at first looked ever so slightly concerned at the laughter and the fact that Tamarack was that intuitive that it was unlikely Shaamil had made the change himself to the signature, but her expression became slightly relieved, even as she tried to mask it some, when it sounded like Tama was at the very least extending a potential dialogue to be persuaded to go on a date with Shaamil which was what they wanted.

Islwyn nodded, "Euthalia has good points, while these gestures might seem small in the context of coming from someone else from Shaamil they are much grander. Shaamil has expressed a willingness to change on your behalf alone, suggesting a sincere gesture of his deep feelings for you and a symbol of him putting you above what he seems to hold in such high esteem to me." Reinforcing what Euthalia said.
---
Keone decided to speak a bit too surprisingly perhaps encouraged with what Islwyn had to say. "Yeah y'know, Shaamil seems to be kind of like me, not really the warm fuzzy stuff type, but he wants to try his best where he can, from what I could tell, Shaamil is willing to try to put his best foot forward, and better himself just to try things out with you, and I got to say that takes guts for a guy." She wanted to say for a guy with an ego that massive but she decided against it mentally even though she had thought it.

Of course Islwyn and Keone didn't know Shaamil nearly as well as Tama did, afterall they had only met the guy that day, but they felt confident in Euthalia's assessment and their own enough to speak their minds, even if the guy had come off as eccentric and strange at times.

After hearing everyone speak Tamarack went into thought once more it looked like as she held the scroll to her side, before her bit of a smile returned. "His sincerity alone was enough you say? Now that is very interesting news indeed, who would have thought Shaamil of all people would change his signature, the fae who values his prestige, success, and status above most things..and you're telling me that he values me even more than those very three pillars that he has cherished for years and years? I suppose I Should be flattered."

"And that's Right, Keone, and Islwyn he never was the most elegant with..non business words, it's always best not to catch him when his on "important business"."
she'd giggle a bit at that once again in thought, no doubt referencing how short he had been with the trio earlier when they first arrived at his office.

"And I do.." She'd shift a bit where she stood pausing a bit for effect, "...Suppose that he is just using what he's good at naturally, business, even as much as I hate to admit it he's..very good at it, even if some of his tactics are more aggressive than I'd like..you can't deny that he does bring in that capital.."

"And then you're even telling me that he is willing to stop the Faazi Merchant Guild mercenary activity if it means he could go on a date with me, that is most interesting too...if there's one thing I know about Shaamil it's that he doesn't usually lie, he sees no reason too when you're as well off as he is, so if he says it's so then it must be..it sounds like an awful lot of benefit to me to entertain the idea and see if he really is genuine about what he told you, so as fun as it would be for me to ask away, I suppose that I could entertain the idea when you put it all out like that..if it doesn't work out there are always other options for dating.."
She said a bit playfully a the end looking toward Euthalia before continuing,

"Hm yes, because between what you got him to do, and that he convinced all three of you, then I can only conclude what you speak is likely true..and if that's the case then, you can tell him we can arrange a meeting at the Fir Pine, when it's convenient."

She was glad to have Iswlyn and Keone back her up, but even with that back-up, Tamarack's suddenly serious reply was a little concerning. Mostly the 'I suppose I should be flattered', for that statement had a fair share of scepticism stuck in it. Luckily enough, her tone switched a bit. She actually laughed at one of his less social tendencies, which was a good sign, right? She also managed to appreciate his business talents, despite having fallen victim to them. Another good point. Thus far, things were going well.

Euthalia realised she really needed to work on her poker-face when Tamarack hit her out of the blue with that sudden flirt, as she didn't mask her surprise in the slightest. Luckily, she did manage to at least keep it at surprise, rather than showing interest. The latter would be way too unprofessional. She managed to gather her thoughts enough to come with a reply... ignoring the last comment, that is. “Thank you, we'll make sure your reply reaches him. I promise you, you'll see he's sincere.” She said, sounding as professional as she could, but clearly being glad her job went well. Besides, she had to abstain from adding 'otherwise I'd have taken you up on that other offer' there. Honestly, if Shaamil hadn't been sincere in his own way, she'd have felt horrible for setting this girl up with him. Right now, however, she felt like she'd not only done a good job, but also a good deed, which was putting her in a great mood.

Even so, after giving Tamarack a polite bow and excusing herself, she'd wait for a bit to be out of hearing range and address Islwyn and Keone. “That went surprisingly well.” She'd say cheerfully, however, she was quick to get more serious again. “Alright, so which things should we tell Shaamil to help him set-up. First of all, we should warn him how creepy it is to have a trinket pointing in someone's direction and that having a trinket with her image might also be a bit creepy. Secondly, that we mentioned he'd value her enough to tone down the mercenary usage and that doing so aided in her believing his sincerity. Ah, we should also mention that him toning down his signature really impressed her! Perhaps we can say that him showing humility is how he can show her how great he is? I bet that might work on a man like him.”

She was getting quite into this, more so than she herself even expected she would. “Come to think of it, when she said they can arrange a meeting at the Fir Pine 'when it's convenient', do you think there might be something more to it? To see if he'd try to arrange it within the hour, or to try to wait first or something? Perhaps helping him settle on a right time to suggest to her might be of help as well. Anyhow, do you two think there's anything else we should keep in mind when we tell him about our success?”

"Oh, right before you go, you should take this, knowing Shaamil he'll want evidence that you spoke to me and have my word."

She then reached over beside the open door and took out what appeared to be some sort of wood carved Tamarack tree themed circle which had been well polished so it had a bit of a sheen. in Sylvan it displayed the Hackmatack guild name. "Thank you, I trust what you say is true, I have high hopes based on what you've told me." She said with a smile, appreciative of the bow. "Have a safe journey back." After handing the item over she retreated back into her dwelling once the trio was on their way back to the Faazi Merchant Guild tent no doubt.

---
Keonislwyn-1-1-1.jpg
As the trio made trail, and they were out of hearing range, Islwyn smiled when she heard Euthalia sound cheery, that was always a welcome sound, truthfully she had been smiling since they were on their way out since it was sounding increasingly like they were going to get a good outcome with Shaamil now. "I agree, you did wonderfully Euthalia~" Islwyn reaffirmed.

Keone was also in relatively good spirits as she slithered along. "Right, you totally sold him as is and managed to keep everything clear with her about his intentions and how he felt, which I think will help in the long term." Indeed if Shaamil and the Faazi merchant guild were going to be true allies then this was an important step in the right direction. While it wasn't part of their job to make sure whatever happened on the date went well, surely Shaamil would feel more generous if they contributed to setting him up for something good.

When Keone heard the next part and things got serious again she nodded in confirmation, "Yeah the slaver stuff gotta go, It's just not good in taste, I think since we've gotten him this far he'll be more willing to listen to us on that sort of thing now, and we should definitely tell him that we told her what he said we could say." The later part of the sentence referring to the toning down of the mercenary activity which Euthalia mentioned.

As they continued back the way they came Islwyn also chimed in, "I agree with Keone, and what you're saying makes sense to me Euthalia, for someone like Shaamil this might be the best way to improve his outcome I think it's worth giving it a try in telling him that the signature modification was effective and that humility is a way to show her that he's so great that he's even willing to forgo one of the very thing that he seems to care about the most, reminding everyone of his prestige."
She paused for a moment, refocusing her gaze back on Euthalia before continuing,
"Well since it sounds like they talk enough on business matters I imagine talking with Shaamil about when to meet with her is a good idea, it's probably better or us the sooner he acts on formally sending her a time that works with their schedules regardless of when it is so that she knows that he's committed."

Keone answered the last part of Euthalia's inquiry, after Islwyn gave her input on the second to last.

"Yeah I do, I think we should credit his flexible executive decision making that were line with our suggestions as a contribution to why we succeeded so he feels more confident going forward that compromise and humility can be a good thing."

----

Eventually the nature around them became progressively less dense as they moved closer back to the center with time. With engaging active topics of discussion of strategy moving forward, before they knew it the trio was back on the path approaching the center once more which was now in the interest. But suddenly a familar face came out of the woodworks of the forest onto the path in front of them with a certain animal companion.

Fae Merchant

"I see you come back from business. You done with work now? Want to look at my wares now? Or maybe go get drink?" The fae asked, seemingly hopeful, that they hadn't forgotten about him, while the pack mule partner stood there every now and again blinking, both standing in the middle of the path yet again.

She hadn't thought about taking a sign of delivery for as much a single second, almost surprised when Tamarack had offered one. She wondered if the Fae would really demand such a thing, as he hadn't asked for it beforehand. Either way, it was likely good to have regardless. “Couldn't have done it without you two.” She replied, feeling a bit awkward by the sudden praise she was getting. Ever since losing her ability to cast magic and losing all the respect and status she'd built up, being complimented by people she valued felt weird, even if it was by the two that were closest to her. That said, she nodded as she heard the two agree on various parts, also taking in their opinions on when to tell him to plan the date into account.

Before making their way back to Shaamil, however, they ran into someone else. Considering how great of a mood she was in due to their success, she actually didn't mind. In fact, she did someone that was a bit outside of her normal mode of operation. “You know what, we're almost done. How about you wait a bit outside of the Faazi Merchant Guild and get a bottle of your best booze and fanciest trinkets ready.” She figured she'd be able to get her companions their well-earned rewards directly after their expected payday.

With that bit of motivation in, it was time to go for the home-stretch, as they made their way back to the Faazi Merchant Guild. It did, however, remind her of one thing. That cactus she first thought was meant to be Shaamil. She'd never managed to figure out who that actually was, had she? Perhaps he was the one in charge of all those lizard mercenaries. She'd keep her eyes and ears open for a bit, wondering if she could confirm this whilst being escorted back into Shaamil's office.

Islwyn and Keone were both quite pleased to hear the praise from Euthalia naturally, Keone's more reserved smile warming up a bit more, simultaneously Islwyn's smile was much more open by comparison, Euthalias words very much positively received.
---
At first Keone's body language shifted into a more authoritative stance when she saw the Fae Merchant show up, looking ready to tell him off yet again if need be if he was going to get in their way or cause issues, but she immediately mellowed out when she heard what good spirits Euthalia was in, leaving her pleasantly surprised, if Euthalia was cool with the merchant then Keone could be too.

Islwyn seemed more neutral on the situation but warmed up once again at Euthalia's positive attitude toward the Merchant, lighting up even more when she heard the mention of best booze,

Fae Merchant
artworks-yXCqZK5AhX8IXtrC-zVX1vw-t500x500.jpg
The fae merchant was a bit surpirsed before giving a few hops presumably out of excitement Perhaps he had been half expecting them to blow him off.

"Oh yes I will do! I'll have best merchandise and drinks ready! Will see all of you soon!"

No doubt this Fae had more than what was just on his companion, one of the most logical ways to carry more delicate and valuable goods was likely a pocket dimension. The Fae then moved out of the way and headed towards the guild too, keeping a considerable distance as he took out what seemed ot be some sort of wide portable stand already, starting to set goods down.

Unknown Fae

As the trio approached closer, they could see the Cactus Fae was still where they had been earlier. As Euthalia listened in she could hear the fae speak Sylvan.
The fae spoke to the group of lizardmen, some of the faces were new from before, some purple lizardmen one shorter and stouter and another taller and lither in the grouping while one purple and one green one from before were nowhere to be found.

"We'll move out in the next two moons boys, those thugs won't know what hit them for getting involved in Faazi business."
after the fae spoke , some of the liardmen nodded before one of them chuckled in response gesturing to his scimitar with a bit of a grin, some of the others also started in on the chuckling looking toward him as if he had said some kind of joke, as some of them started speaking in beastial amongst one another. Keone perked up a bit as she overheard but didn't say a word.

The two lizardmen from before saw the group approach and figured they must have been done, as without a word one of them gestured for them to follow leading back into the deceitfully small exterior, into the large shop within, leading them back to the now familar door, this time the shorter green one from before gave a knock on the door.

"What is it?" The same voice sounded curt yet again, the lizardman who knocked then replied "Your messengers return."

"Well then open the doors!" Shaamil replied a tone of excitement in his voice. The Lizardman complied , before the two took their usual spot on either side of Shaamil, very much like before.

"The Great" Shaamil
1033210300.png
New scrolls and instruments were strung about Shaamil's desk, as well as books. There was also some kind of scale used to weigh valuables he levitated his quil back where it belonged before looking back up at Euthalia. Otherwise the office looked the same as before.

"Well then you three have good news for The Great Shaamil, please tell."
He asserted rather than asking if they did, as if failure had not been an option on their end.

She'd gotten some answers on her last lingering question. The cactus was likely the one Shaamil hired to get his more unsavoury business practices dealt with, as well as one that secured the guild's interest from thugs and thieves. His words sounded as prickly as he looked, so she wasn't too interested in interacting with him much further. Well, there was one thing... “What'd they say?” She'd ask Keone in a hushed voice, upon noticing her companion had picked up something the lizards had been mumbling about.

Truth be told, the fact that Shaamil didn't consider failure was sort-off a compliment. After all, it meant he'd had full faith in them. However, she felt like she wasn't done just yet, no, if anything, this was the end-game. She'd done enough for her reward, perhaps, but she wanted to see this through to the end. She genuinely wanted to try setting things up for this pairing to have a fair chance now. It's why she gave him a broad smile, as she carefully considered her next words.

“Tamarack agreed to set up a date, after being impressed by your humbleness.” She started, carefully mentioning one of the most important take-away points first and directly linking it to the successful results. Now she just needed to make it click for Shaamil. “It seems that being humble in toning down your signature was something that showed her how great you truly are, as there is greatness in humbleness.” That was the first key-point, humbleness.

Now it was onto the next. “She was also impressed by your willingness to reduce the usage of mercenaries driving away her customers, as it showed her that you were sincere about loving her. It helped her understand that you're more than just a business rival.” Alright, that should probably help him loosen up his business instincts very so slightly, which might give Tamarack a better shot at having him open up later. Hopefully.

That left her to a more difficult part. “However, I must warn you that your possession of trinkets with her image and items with the ability to find her might seem a little overwhelming to her at first. She may know your sincerity, but might need to warm up to how... intense, it might be.” Those weren't the most ideal words, but hopefully it was enough. Still, she'd try to quickly gesture to Islwyn as in 'back me up here' to see if her companion could salvage that statement a little.

She felt like she was forgetting something. What was it? Right! The details. “She wanted to set-up a meeting in the Fir Pine. She'll likely hope for a quick reply, which would show your commitment.” She recalled Islwyn's words on it. Ah, right, the final thing. She took out the seal Tamarack had given them. “She gave us this as a proof of our success.”

She hoped that she'd covered everything, as honestly, she'd gotten a bit nervous here, right near the end. After all, there had been a fair few points she wanted to convey, which all needed careful delivery. Then again, should she have forgotten a thing, perhaps Keone or Iswlyn wouldn't. Three minds were better than one, after all.

Of course when Euthalia asked Keone she didn't hesitate to respond, as she responded quietly.

"One of them said that they're going to take what's rightfully their's."

She said trying to give an equivalent translation from Beastial, which sounded a lot like Japanese when spoken. Keone wasn't sure exactly what that was about, but it had piqued her interest since she hadn't been expecting it, for the mercenary to say that, that is. Either way there wasn't much point talking to the group of mercenaries. What wasn't clear was if the cactus man was simply in charge of them or if he had other roles in addition, it would probably all come into light if they worked further with the Faazi Merchant Guild.

"The Great" Shaamil
1033210300-1.png
Shaamil looked with great interest at Euthalia, which was a rare sight indeed, it wasn't so often that Shaamil gave someone his full attention for just anything, after all he was so busy being great. Even the lizardmen standing on either side of him were a bit surprised at the sight before them. Only further empathizing just how invested Shaamil was in this.

Shaamil lit up pretty quickly at hearing she was impressed by his humbleness, as he interjected between her first two sentences. "Well of course dear Tama was impressed with The Great Shaamil's humbleness, The Great Shaamil is the best at being humble." He said proudly, the irony lost on him clearly, or worse yet the way Shaamil spoke currently was what his criteria of being humble was for him. He then listened more carefully, looking like he was more in thought at the next.

"The Great Shaamil sees, then..maybe it would be best for The Great Shaamil to not..refer to self as great, despite being very great when talking to Tama...to be more humble around her." He said reflectively. It sounded like getting him to drop the self reference title entirely would be a bit of a tall order to ask of him.

"The Great Shaamil is glad to hear that she was agreeable to The Great Shaamil's business decision to cease that activity then, The Great Shaamil thought she would be." He replied confidently once again pleased with what he heard.

Shaamil did look a bit less certain and more skeptical when Euthalia mentioned the following part, as if he was rolling around in his mind what she was saying about the objects she was referring too. But before he could continue, to say something defensive, Islwyn picked up on Euthalia's subtle cue and decided to chain off of what Euthalia had said, realizing this was an opportunity where she could help Shaamil understand perhaps, since for all she knew that could have offended him.

Islwyn
Screenshot 2023-03-29 at 1.52.06 AM.png
"Now Shaamil, Euthalia is not trying to suggest that you have any ill intentions with the use of these objects, she is just trying to say that while it might appear logical from a business perspective to know at a moment's notice where one of your business partners are, if the person saw that you were keeping track of them, they might interpret it the wrong way, even if it's not what you meant at all." She figured being direct but respectful with Shaamil was the best option moving forward.

Shaamil's look of skepticism mellowed out after hearing Islwyn speak in her warm reassuring tone, before he slowly nodded. "That was what the Great Shaamil was about to say, The Great Shaamil did not understand, it is for business purposes, and image was so The Great Shaamil could look fondly at dear Tama even when Tama not near The Great Shaamil. The Great Shaamil does understand your point, Tama might not see these same way that The Great Shaamil does. So The Great Shaamil will opt to be more discrete with these." He replied.

Shaamil lit up even more when he heard what Euthalia had to say next, he even went as far as to stand up on his desk, when he saw the sign. "Oh yes! The Great Shaamil is so pleased that you retrieved that, it is good business practice..proving what you say is all true. And of course dear Tama has most excellent taste, that is a very fitting place for this date. The Great Shaamil will ensure to let her know soon."

While this was going on Keone waited with anticipation her tail going back and forth a bit, at what he was going to do next, When he raised his hand up to move objects.

"Since it sounds like everything is in order, here is your payment as promised with a bonus with the good news, Messenger of the See." Shaamil spoke sounding like he was in a very good mood. He then levitated over what appeared to be a brown plant fiber pouch, that had been tied at the top, and from within there were Rykes that could be seen gleaming a bit, as he set bag down near the edge of his desk. The lizard nearest to Euthalia then took the bag and offered it to her, holding it out. It was a chunk of change.

"In the future feel free to contact The Great Shaamil and the Faazi Merchant Guild anytime for work or business or whatever it maybe, Your valuable advice will help Shaamil in the future and The Great Shaamil likes to help those who help The Great Shaamil succeed with such..delicate and in this case..personal affairs." He said sounding grateful in the tone.

Upon hearing this even Keone who had looked so serious before perked up a bit with a smile, as did Islwyn, both of them were rather relieved at this revelation of good news from Shaamil.

She almost got a headache from Shaamil's reply. How could someone mention being great so often after being told that being humble was important? It almost made her worry what she was throwing poor Tamarack into all over again. That worry was lessened a little when he reflected on it, which made her give him an approving nod. As expected, she noticed she'd brought up the next point in a way that didn't work well. It was clear his usage of items being questioned didn't go over well... until Islwyn jumped in, like she hoped her companion would. Iswlyn was truly showing she was worth her weight in gold. Actually, gold was overrated. Islwyn was worth more than some shiny metal. Either way, the situation got resolved thanks to her intervention.

It was surprising to see Shaamil appreciate the sign that much, but it was also a big relief. After all, it told her something. Tamarack had been aware that Shaamil would appreciate such a sign this much, otherwise she wouldn't have bothered giving her one. That meant that Tamarack truly wished to give this a chance and wasn't just playing along. It was a big relief to have the extra confirmation.

When she got her rewards, she made a grateful bow. “Thank you very much.” Hearing that, other than the money, she had made some useful connections, was a really great extra. Especially for her long-term goals. “It was a pleasure working for you and I wish you a lovely date with miss Tamarack.” She said, before leaving.

As for the Cactus outside... she was interest. Just not enough to immediately pursue it. That was a quest for another RP. For now, she wanted to celebrate their success. She'd leave the merchant's area to find a more quite place. Once she'd found one, she'd quickly divide the money they'd earned into five shares. Two for their general savings, then one of each of them. “There we go, money well-earned, I'd say. I hope they'll be happy together.” She mentioned, then looking around. “On the topic of happy, let's go meet our small friend from before and make his day. Feel free to treat yourselves while at it, we should have enough savings to let loose a little with the rest.”

Although she said it, she'd likely put the largest part of her own share towards savings as well. Being able to get her nutrients from the soil and needing no room to sleep in and rarely needing new clothing and not really wearing accessories, she was very low-maintenance all things considered. Perhaps she'd treat herself to some mineral water, or some rare spring water, one of the few drinks her body could digest well enough to enjoy being consumed in a non-rooted manner. Most of the time, she got the rest of her entertainment from seeing her friends happy, so all was good.

Shaamil sounded cheery upon hearing that, giving a nod to her bow which he appreciated it. "It is no problem, Shaamil thanks you very much for that sentiment, good luck too you." Had Shaamil actually not referred to himself with his full title in front of his name intentionally? What a rare occurrence. The lizardmen went back into the store area ,after the trio left. This time they did not lead them out, but just seemed to guard the shop area in general. It appeared that they had no issue with the trio browsing Shaamil's goods if they felt so inclined.

Keonislwyn-1-1-1-1.jpg
After they had returned what Shaamil gave them to find Tama, Keone slithered along ,and Islwyn followed closely, each on either side of Euthalia as they headed out. They didn't spend too much time looking around the shop, since the group was planning on meeting up with the merchant anyway, perhaps another time to come back and look at what the Faazi Merchant Guild had to offer should it be appropriate.

Truthfully Keone visually looked toward the Cactus ranger once more out of interest, and her fellow Beastmen, whatever had been said had been most curious, after all why were the mercenaries themselves talking about something belonging to them had it just been Faazi business? But another time for investigation perhaps.

Islwyn didn't pay too much attention to the group, her attention more focused on looking at the side profile of Euthalia, with a bit of admiration in her eyes, every now again, she just couldn't help but take notice of just how pretty Euthalia was..

The group managed to find a quieter area just outside the square in a more woody area near some of the larger tree types that had been used for housing purposes, it provided a bit of shade and was quieter a gentle breeze blowing. Overall a pleasant spot to go over the spoils they had earned.

Keone lit up quite a bit upon receiving her portion of the Rykes, this success for the group, and importantly Euthalia elevating her mood quite a bit. "Y'know It isn't that often in my life I can say I'd earned some coin fair and square..I swear sometimes I almost forget the feeling." She said reflectively, quickly pocketing her share as it was presented to her, having just the place to keep it on her person. Slaves weren't exactly known to get great pay, and stealing wasn't really the same as being paid for good honest work.

Islwyn smiled once again as she received her share. "Very well done Euthalia, I hope that you're right. I truly think that Shaamil means well, and it sounded like maybe he was even starting to take some of that talk about humbleness to heart, after all a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step." Also securing her funds. She felt pleased that they were making connections with the rich, after all money meant power, and money talked, money could help Euthalia get back to where she belonged in Fae society.

"Right I do think I have a drinking companion waiting for me~, don't want to keep him too long." Islwyn said a bit playfully in response to Euthalia's mention of their small friend.

Keone semi rolled her eye a bit with a chuckle, and then smile. "Yeah I guess it's just business for him, looks like hustling around here is what's popular so can't really blame him, just hope that his inventory lives up to the hype." Given the merchant's hype this was a reasonable hope. All and All moods were in high spirit with Euthalia mentioning the possibility of them having some spending money with the fae.

They'd find their way back closer to the center, as the sound of different languages, bartering and business transactions continued, even in this later part of the afternoon. Was the Wmgroth Center Market always this busy?

Fae Merchant Stand
cody-shay-stall-2.jpg

Still not too far away from the Faazi Merchant Guild's tent was the small wooden convention like sized stand that the fae merchant had set up waiting for them. now had a variety of alcoholic beverages in different sized and colored bottles that he had presumably unpacked from his companion, as well as amulets, necklaces, sashes, vases, chests, rings, what looked like a small telescope of sorts, some daggers, arrows, quivers, some maps folded up, charms hanging from the wooden rack as well as rugs, hollowed out gords, some books and various odds and ends. Next to the beverages there also appeared to be some potions. Thanks to magic no doubt it was more than possible to assemble all of this on a moment's notice as he had.

Upon seeing the trio approach, the merchant immediately lit up excitedly. "Oh you came I see, I see! I am very happy thank you for keeping your word!" "See I told you I have many interesting things. If you see anything you like or have any questions please let me know!" He said gesturing to his collection. He then moved over and picked up a largish dark wood almost ash colored bottle that had a cork in it. On the front it had a octopus beastman face carved into it who was wearing some sort of ship captains hat, with a wave icon coming behind it. He eventually which he managed to remove the cork with some effort, before setting aside four humble looking wooden shot glasses, and he poured out what was a blackish liquid into each one.

"For all of you, to celebrate great success yes?" He said matter of fact, but also presuming they had a good outcome since they were there.
Meanwhile his companion animal looked much less burdened now, and looked rather happy to see them too, standing nearby the stand.

“Don't worry, we'll make sure that lots more times like these will follow.” She replied to Keone, happy to see her companion so happy. “It might not be a big step overall, but it feels like I'm finally getting back on track again, largely thanks to you two having my back through-out all of this.”

As for Islwyn's remark, she smiled. “Did you hear how he greeted us? He addressed himself as just Shaamil. If that's not a good sign, I don't know what could possible be one.” Her smile broadened, as the next thought arose. “Do you think they'll invite us to their wedding~” She joked towards her companions, knowing fully well how much of a stretch it was, but entertaining the thought nevertheless.

As they found their small friend, Euthalia glossed over his inventory. On odd thought arose. “Do you perhaps have something that would be of use to a starting chanteuse?” Considering she picked up the 'job' of being Ophenia's manager, perhaps giving the girl a present to help with her concert in Aslan or to reward her for her work there afterwards was appropriate? She wanted to share this joy she was feeling after having a job well-done.

Although she smiled at the sight of him pouring drinks for them, she had to politely decline. “Thank you, but I'm afraid my species isn't too well-suited for the consumption of drinks other than mineral water. My companions, however, would be glad to join you.” She knew Islwyn would be eager to try whatever this was and whilst she wasn't sure about Keone, she figured she'd pull a fast one and not give her the option of refusing.

That said, there was another thing she was wondering about. “Proper introductions are already overdue, aren't they? Still, it's better to be late than not to have them at all. I'm Euthalia Apricot, messenger of the See, these are my friends Keone Nagendra and Islwyn Meadhra.” It was a bit odd to be drinking with someone she didn't even know the name off. Or well, to watch others drink with them. The idea was the same...

Her eyes also glossed over at the Fae's pet. It was rather adorable, to the point she debated petting it. However, she did nearly get her hand bitten off by a herbivore thinking her hand was a cabbage before, so she was a little reluctant. Perhaps it was safer not to try her chances with this one...

Keone was naturally quite pleased to hear this coming from Euthalia, it was a feeling that unfortunately had been seldom for most of her life, so getting some kind of reassurance that they'd keep working forward together was nice, giving her a nod of confirmation with the residual more conservative smile, than compared to that of Islwyn, taking in the praise like a tree took in the sunlight. Yes, together they were going to succeed moving forward.

Islwyn on the other hand let out a bit of a giggle at the very thought. "I certainly hope so, he'll definitely need somebody other than Tama there who knows how to party." Very much referencing the fact that Shaamil didn't seem like he was the sort who was very well socialized. Islwyn could only imagine his company of choice was probably very business focused like Shaamil wise, if the guy even had any friends, even so it was an entertaining thought.

It was not lost of either of the companions how significant what Euthalia said about Shaamil about not using the great at least once in front of his name.

Ginseng & Panax
artworks-yXCqZK5AhX8IXtrC-zVX1vw-t500x500-1.jpg
The Fae merchant listened to Euthalia well enough while he poured the drinks and offered them up. He looked in thought for a moment when she mentioned something for a chanteuse.

"Sorry did not know you do not drink, next time we celebrate will bring water. But, I promise you two will like, very high quality. Not just any drink, drink for special occasion." He asked and then reaffirmed while rummaging through some of his necklace stuff a bit. While he was looking around for something that he thought might meet the criteria of what Euthalia was looking for he looked up and exclaimed,

"Right! Sorry I did not introduce self, you see business opportunities quick around here. Sometimes business first and talk later best option."

He then continued, "It is nice to meet you three, my name is Panax, and my business partner here is named Ginseng." He said, pausing his search for a bit to state this looking at the three of them before continuing. Ginseng made a small bow gesture toward them, still silent as ever, but he seemed to understand the Fae tongue well enough.

"Oh it certainly is nice to properly meet you too, it's not everyday I get to meet new people who know the proper way to unwind." Islwyn continued the playful slight flirty edge once again, referencing the apparent eagerness that Panax had to drink with her earlier.

Keone looked a bit curiously at the beverage color with her good eye before looking back at Panax who was now looking a bit red like before after Islwyn's light teasing, "mmm, Yeah nice to meet ya, You weren't kidding you've been getting around huh?" she said comparatively cooler, but not in an unfriendly way, just more neutral tone, toward the end referencing the variety of his wares. Even with what she said earlier she couldn't help but feel a bit guarded with a guy like this who had been so pushy and eager to do business with them. Even so she was genuinely intrigued by his offerings, a similar look taking hold that had been there when she was in the Faazi Merchant Guild store, as she visually sussed out which items looked particularly valuable.

After some more rummaging Panax eventually pulled out a unique looking object. There was a dainty dragon depicted in the unusually colored stone, the exposed surface sparkling slightly in the sunlight.

"This might be something of interest, please allow me to demonstrate."
Panax then took the stone and tapped the stand with it twice, and then dragon began to glow a faint pink. After this the concentrated area around Panax began to turn a light hue and light sparks reminiscent of a fire fly intensity of various shapes and sizes began to dance around him like a concentrated light show, shifting between whiter and pinker hues.

"This could help attract the attention someone like that is looking for yes? What is even better is that it can change color and intensity depending on how many times it is tapped, it could easily enough be forged into an amulet too." Panax reaffirmed.

Panax then reached over for his cup and took a swig of the dark beverage. Islwyn was the first to follow up, she didn't need any volunteering from Euthalia to want to try a drink she hadn't seen before, raising it to her lips and taking a taste, before she lit up once again.

"Sweet, but not to mellow or harsh, and whatever those spices are..one of them that even I can't quite put on the tip of my tongue on but that's beside the point, this has a lovely taste profile, is it regional or imported? You did not disappoint." She inquired then stated.

Keone on the other hand also took a drink, a more modest one compared to Islwyn, before she gave a nod of approval, not having too much more to say on the drink, other than a slight smile.

Even if hadn't been Keone's most favorite she'd rather keep Panax in relatively high spirits for business purposes anyway at the moment, since with all of his wares there was a good chance that at least one of them might find something interesting like that stone he had just shown off. Thankfully this time around there wasn't really anything to fake since the drink was decent enough.

Euthalia smiled at the apology. “No worries, I'm already glad my friends can try it in my stead.” She was already fairly used to situations like this, where her lack of normal consumption granted her only second-hand experiences. She giggled a bit at the introduction and bow of the Panax's animal. That was a very clever pet. Perhaps partner was indeed a better word for it. It also made her want to pet Ginseng even more, but she still didn't entirely trust her ability to do so without getting her hand munched off, so she resisted the desire to do so once more.

Euthalia looked in surprise ad the odd dragon-stone. “That's quite a peculiar thing indeed. I think she'd love this type of thing.” Euthalia replied, imagining Ophenia tapping it to have it go through a rainbow of colours. “What are you willing to sell it for?” She had no clue how valuable such a thing was, but considering there was no practical use, she was hoping it'd be a 'fun trinket' price, so to say. Then again, if he'd charge a high price, she had a feeling that Islwyn would be able to lower it...

Considering Islwyn was fond of the drink, Euthalia silently slid her own cup towards her. As she did so, she was thinking of another thing she'd almost forgotten. “Say, do either of you have a clue what Orinleaf might've been smoking? Keone, do you think you could recognise the scent if you smelled it again? I'm sure that if we give him some of his usual tobacco as thanks, he'll give us some useful information again the next time we come around.” Having good contacts to get jobs like these was valuable, so Orinleaf would be a worthy investment. Getting him a thank-you gift to hand over on their way out would be well-worth the investment, she figured. The snake's sharp nose might be of use in getting the exact stuff they'd need for maximum impact.

Ginseng & Panax

Ginseng looked over at Euthalia while she giggled and bowed it's head toward her in a friendly fashion, before looking back up.

Panax was pleased enough that Euthalia hadn't been particularly upset by the lack of drink options he had been able to provide to her.

"Mmhm, I think someone like that would enjoy it too. It can produce every color of the rainbow and many in between with great clarity, I personally think it's a great piece. All you need to do is think the color you want and tap away, they don't require much force as you can see."

He tapped the side of it with his finger for effect and the pin hue changed to more of an orangey one.

"It seems what is more important is the intention of what color you desire."

When it got the question of how valuable the stone was Panax set the piece down and tapped it twice quickly to make the light show stop. He paused for a moment in thought, putting a hand to his chin.

While Euthalia slid her cup over, Islwyn looked over giving Euthalia a knowing smile on her face, and Panax replied after his deliberation,

"I believe that 50 Rykes is a fair price for this." He said matter of fact. While not the most exorbitant, 20 Rykes was around what the average person's living expenses for a day were, so that was probably a bit on the higher end of the spectrum for something like this which did not have the most practical use providing a localized light show to say the least.

---
Keonislwyn-1-1.jpg

Upon hearing that price Islwyn had a similar thought that Euthalia had, in that she could be of assistance here. While there price as is, probably wasn't a deal breaker for a luxury magical item like that, she thought for certain with a bit of charm and what she had heard Panax say she could assist for sure.

Islwyn, leaned in a bit closer to Panax with a flirty gaze as she used her Charm ability. "Oh really, 50 Rykes? you know I was really hoping to have a bit left over to spend on drinks after all was said and done, and l would love it if that person I drank with included a cute guy like you~" she flattered the fae once again. Islwyn once again quite skilled at dancing the line with not sounding disingenuous, because truthfully while she probably wasn't planning on getting romantic with a fae like this, he did strike her as cute, and she didn't mind drinking with him on business.

"Plus like you said, it hasn't been put in an amulet form which if it was would put it closer to your price and would make it easier to use, but since it isn't I think with all of that said 25 Rykes is more than fair." She finished, before taking another drink of the pleasant beverage.

This little interaction without fail caused Panax to light up like a cherry tomato as he just looked up at her admiring her very attractive features, before Ginseng let out a bit of a snort, causing him to snap back into reality. "Uh..yes..I think..wait, I think if you're at 25 and I'm at 50, 30 means you all can still come drink with me yes?" He asked, the offer now shifting. Islwyn's charm more than effective here it sounded like.

While this was ongoing Keone was watching the back and forth with interest, staying close to Euthalia, before she heard Euthalia's question, looking to her. "Uh yeah, I should be able to take care of that no problem." She then turned to Panax, "Say I know we're on the topic of that fancy stone, but since we're talking business, you got any tobacco pipe products on you?"

Panax looked to Keone a bit surprised to hear her speak up since she had by far been the most distant, but he was more than happy to comply. "Oh yes, while you all consider my offer, allow me." He then looked around the stand, pulling out some various dried fermented rarities in modest pocket sized thin wooden containers which appeared to have a similar logo to them which the drink with some variations. Some had differing hues some lighter and darker from Perique to Cavendish.

"Thanks." She said with a more reserved smile sounding a bit warmer from before to Panax, so far he hadn't tried anything outrageous which she appreciated.

Keone got to work using her Heightened Sense F [Smell], to go over each of the containers since there were about 8 varieties which Panax had presented, until she eventually settled on one which had an oak tree image imprinted onto the tobacco holding box. "I think this is our winner." It had been the second to last sample she had sniffed.

Panax lit up a bit at that "Oh good choice good choice Orinleaf has nice tastes, that is going for 7 Rykes today."

The animal kept challenging her, until she gave in. Should her hand be chewed off as a mistaken cabbage, she'd just have to find a way to regrow it. A worthwhile sacrifice. As Ginseng raised his head again, she'd slowly and gently reach for it and would gently bet his head a bit. Unless her hand got chewed off after all and she'd fallen for the devious tricks of this creature. Either option was plausible.

For the other part, she listened to Panax explain more about the item. It reminded her a little of that resonator thing Ophenia had, which convinced her even more that Ophenia would like this type of thing. Especially the part about desiring a colour seemed to be oddly familiar, although she couldn't quite recall why. Either way, it didn't matter, she'd settled on this being a great gift for her managed idol. All that remained was the price, which luckily Islwyn was able to handle.

She silently witnessed Islwyn's expertise. Panax was so impressed, he even sounded exactly like Islwyn when he replied. Considering the new price wasn't a problem, she'd give Islwyn a quick nod. It'd be weird for Euthalia to suddenly pay for it, so she'd reimburse Islwyn later.

The second request was also solved. Keone's sense of scent was able to pick up on which one it was. Seven Rykes? Was that expensive for this type of thing? She had no clue, but with the discount on the dragon-gem already in place, she didn't feel the need to try to get this with a discount as well. “We'll take it, thank you.” She replied. If he was ripping them off, he could consider his 'victory' a bonus or his customer service and drinks.

With that out of the way, she'd allow Islwyn and Keone to browser for something of their own (should they want it) and finish their drinks, before eventually standing up. It was time to leave. “Thanks again, mister Panax. Should we find ourselves in another financial tailwind in the future, we'll likely visit once more.”

After leaving him and his stand, she'd make sure to reimburse Islwyn. She also couldn't help basking in the afterglow of the job well done. “That went great. Even with Panax just now, you two are amazing to have helping me.” She was in a good mood. “If the two of you want, you can use our general funds to find a good place to stay at here in Wmgroth. We can splurge for a night. I'll go find a nice and quiet spot to root outside of the city and it busyness, after seeing if I can find Orinleaf to give him his thanks.”

With that conveyed, she'd head for the gate again, wondering if Orinleaf would still be (or perhaps again be) on duty there.

Ginseng let out a bit of a positive sounding humming sound of approval as she pat his head, a cheery look in his eyes. He was definitely receptive to the positive attention he was getting from Euthalia, nuzzling in toward her hand some affectionately. Thankfully it did not look like he was intending on turning her hand into salad today.

Keonislwyn-1-1-1-1.jpg
While she didn't express it, Keone personally thought that they could have gotten that down to perhaps 5. 7 wasn't a scam but it also wasn't the lowest price she had seen users pay for, but when she considered the great haggling they had done of the stone, she didn't fell like haggling two more Rykes down was necessary particularly not when they got free drinks.

Islwyn handed over the appropriate amount of Rykes for the stone, from her cut for the time being, not necessarily expecting Euthalia to reimburse her when she did it one way or another.

Then the Rykes were handed over for the Tobacco, which thankfully was also a decent price.

While this transaction was going on Islwyn discretely took the drink that had been slid over to her and she took advantage of it, enjoying the spiced flavor once more, very pleased to have the opportunity to dirnk, a bit of a lingering warm smile now on her face.

Panax
Screenshot 2023-04-08 at 1.09.58 AM.png
Panax slid the tobacco box and placed the stone gently down on the counter space, before he quickly took the Rykes and deposited them in a modest sized metallic box which he pulled out and clinked them into before the box seemed to automatically lock as soon as he had opened and put them in. "Of course it is always a pleasure doing business and making new friends." Panax proclaimed, before taking his own drink of the alcohol once more.

"Now then is there anything else catching your eye?" He'd ask.

----
Islwyn and Keone would continue to browse for some time after this question. Islwyn while piqued by some of the alcohol, and some of the other things which looked nice, she thought that she would probably abstain for now and save up more money for something even more celebratory for their success, instead staying back and letting Keone continue to look around.

Keone on the other hand continued to look with her eye which seemed to appraise an approximate value at whatever caught her attention, until eventually she was looking through the stone area and found what appeared to be a modest on the smaller sized ambery gem of sorts, her eye lighting up a bit upon seeing it.

s-l500.jpg

"Actually yeah I think I found something else Panax, how much is this going for?"

She inquired in her more neutral tone.

Panax came over and picked up the small gem, and appraised it himself, "A Solaris gem eh? Well given it's size you aren't going to be able to do anything too powerful with it, still of course it is fine quality, but I could probably part with this for 15 Rykes as is."

Keone looked back at him a bit skeptically, "It's raw and small, 10 and we have a deal." She didn't feel the need not to haggle a bit when it came to her own spending since she felt confident that was a fair price and it no longer impacted what Euthalia had been trying to get from Panax.

Panax thought for a moment before agreeing, " ...That is not bad price, and this could sit for some time otherwise, so I think I can agree to that."

Keone then handed over the 10 Rykes which went right back into the box, before he handed over the small Solaris gem to Keone, which she pocketed.

"Thank you all for your patronage, and I hope to see all you again." Panax said cheerily, in response to Euthalia's words as Ginseng gave a head nod once more as if it was his form of waving this time around, as the trio headed away from the stand with their goods.
---

When they got a distance away Islwyn was pleasantly surprised to see Euthalia reimburse her, "Oh, thanks Euthalia." She said warmly, looking at her with a smile. She certainly wasn't going to turn it down if it was what Euthalia wished to do.

As Keone was also once more in fairly good spirits hearing the praise from Euthalia always made her feel good, not to mention she got what she saw as a great bargain for part of what she wanted to do with the gem ultimately.

"You can say that again ,Islwyn played him like a fiddle, got him down to a reasonable price. Definitely the kind of place you want to haggle where you can."

"And a certain someone remembered exactly what a certain scent was when it mattered.~" Islwyn countered back with the praise looking to Keone , before looking to Euthalia, with an appreciative gaze and tone,

"Mhm, I really wouldn't want things any other way~ but it's important to remember that you're part of this too, it's you who brought all of us together, guiding us to our success." She reaffirmed. They had worked together, and while Euthalia on the ready to praise them, she did want to convey to Euthalia that she felt that it was their teamwork, including her that yielded these kinds of results.

Keone nodded, "Right..you've done so much for us, so I guess what I'm trying to say is..the feelings are mutual." She put it in the best way she felt she could. It felt kind of hard to express the extent to which she felt grateful to Euthalia and like she said she wasn't always the best with the feely stuff in her opinion, but her words were certainly sincere and heart felt.

After that little exchange of positive reaffirming of companionship and praise to each other, "Somewhere a bit warmer than this would be nice.."

Islwyn chimed in,"Sounds like a plan, me and Keone will take a look around for a place to stay for the night, while you go and give Orinleaf a proper thanks for hooking us up with Shaamil."
---
When that was all said and done and the pair headed toward the residential area to get some decent lodging after any more necessary exchanges with Euthalia, Euthalia found herself heading back away from the hubub back toward the path with those strange somewhat man made looking obelisks from before.

Until eventually she came across the:

Wmgroth Entrance A Gate

once more.

If she got close enough the gate would open up, revealing Orinleaf standing in a very similar position to when they first met him, as he turned his head to face Euthalia. This time he had his pipe at his side rather than in active use. The tone he used sounded a bit mellow and more friendly than before from the get go compared to last time as he spoke:

Victories kept stacking up, as she'd been able to pet Ginseng without her hand beaten eaten. The animal even seemed to have enjoyed it. Truthfully, what a wonderful day. Keone found some sort of gem, which seemed interesting. It was just the type of shiny thing Keone would go for. Luckily enough, the snake would be able to buy it now, rather than steal it. Hopefully she'd feel the accomplishing sense you'd get from such a thing.

Euthalia was a little surprised to hear Keone haggle so well. Perhaps she'd underestimated her abilities there. Slashing the price by 1/3rd in a single attempt, that was nothing to scoff at. She'd definitely hope to meet this merchant and his pet again in the future.

She'd just replied the returning compliments with a smile and a simple statement, something that she figured Ophenia might normally say. “With our powers combined, nothing can stop us!” She laughed. “I think that's the type of stuff the Sylph might've said.” With that, it was time to split up.

She met Orinleaf, still on duty. “Greetings, guardian of Wmgroth.” She respectfully replied. “We were highly successful. In fact, we were so successful that I wished to give you a small gift, as a thanks for your information.” She said, holding out the tobacco for him to take. “I hope it is to your liking.”

As for his question, there was one thing. “Ah, there is one last request I'd like to make. The day has been rather eventful and tiring. Do you know a good place to take root, preferably somewhere a bit more quiet?” Being another plant, he'd probably knew some good soil around, or so she hoped. She could use a good meal and quiet rest after a day like today.

Orinleaf

Orinleaf seemed pleased to see Euthalia upon hearing her refer to him as the guardian of Wmgroth which was certainly a title one could call him by justly.

"Well then I certainly wouldn't expect anything less from someone holding your title, I am pleased to hear that my intrigue served your goals so well, I felt strongly from the start that you would be perfect fit for Shaamil. From what I've seen most get a better sense of these things with age. And Believe me he had been stewing over it for all so long, and even at my age, the years do start to accumulate where the topic becomes so one note, but it doesn't sound like I'll be hearing much more about it from him moving forward thanks to you and your friends." The Treant continued sounding rather friendly.

Orinleaf's face lit some even more however when Euthalia presented him with the very tobacco product which he made a habit out of. Unique for his and for other plant kinds of course was that smoking the tobacco wasn't exactly harmful to his health since he easily consumed the CO2 it produced, if anything it made him feel good and rejuvenated.

"Well I'll be, I more than like that, right down to my favorite brand and everything, I truly appreciate it." He'd accept the gift, extending his branch to accept the small tobacco container, which he now held after taking it gently.

"With hearing how you handled that tall order of a quest, with Shaamil of all people and now this, I feel even more confident that you and your companions are going to go grand places, Euthalia Apricot." He reaffirmed.

"If you happen to be around Wmgroth again, I'll make sure to let you know if I hear of anymore interesting business opportunities."

Upon hearing her question, Orinleaf nodded, rooting was something he was very familiar with.

"That I can certainly help you with, If I were you I'd root west along near the interior of the wall a distance away from this entrance in the thicker parts of the woods for some nicer soil. While there aren't too many around at night out here going in and out even so best bet is if you're farther away that'll reduce the chance of unwanted noise, and the barrier will keep you safe from anything problematic you could encounter around these parts, now then I understand that it's getting late so I wouldn't want to keep you too long, hopefully we'll get to speak again in the future." Orinleaf finished with a smile.

----

When all was said and done and the conversation came to a conclusion if Euthalia followed Orinleaf's suggestion she could find herself in a nice cozy part of the denser portion of the forest near the magic barrier wall toward the west on the interior side of the gate where she could root in peace for the night protected and undisturbed in nice quality soil.
Islwyn and Keone would find themselves in a nice mid tier room for the night, not settling for baseline or the most expensive, figuring that would serve as a nice middle ground for a celebration while taking into account their savings. With their quest a success and a step toward making connections and restablishing Euthalia's position in Fae society, the group could finally rest easy after a long hard day's work.

We don't have many 1x1's but its good to spread the word. The cast of companions makes it a bit more engaging too. Good effort playing the npc's. The story felt about right for the sort of characters involved too.

Aftermath
Other parties are starting to note Euthalia's activities and may move to hinder her efforts in the future.
