Graded [Kirkwall Village] (Caelia Barony) – The Big Iron on Her Hip

Uasal

The Swiftest Shot In The West
This RP is part of the Isekai Hell setting. Check the links above to learn more about it.

This RP takes place the night after the events of Fantasy - [Isekai Hell] (Caelia Barony) – Kirkwall, Baroness who? and before the events of Fantasy - [Isekai Hell] (Caelia Barony) – Treasure in Ruins.

The two Player Characters involved in this RP are Elvario Elvario Regula and TheTimePiece TheTimePiece Teuihua. The RP follows these two characters past Boarder Hill and into the no-mans-land that exists between Ryke and the Eastern Empire on the Caelia Barony's Boarder. They have been instructed to wait at Boarderhill for George Ironfoot the leader of the Kirkwall Hunters, and so that is where our RP begins.

This rp is closed to all but invasions. It will feature combat and should be relatively quick. A side arc if you will. Those of you who wish to Ivade do alert me to such as I may need to reshuffle story aspects so as to make it work.

Warning: Criminal Titles may be applied should you use too strong an attack in proximity to civilians. Maiming and Death are not possible for PC but you can be knocked unconscious. All Robot constructs featured in this RP are classed as monsters.

Border Hill
Country of Ryke, Sadek County, Caelia Barony, Kirkwall: Border with the East.

As instructed Baroness Caelia and her friendly construct companion arrived at the Border Hill lookout early the following morning. With Teuihua having already made the journey to the hill just yesterday the construct was easily able to guide the Baroness to where she was expected to be. That said, the construct would notice that this time around his journey was far less taxing given he wasn't ambushed by any adventurers, indeed it was a very pleasant walk truth be told.

Upon reaching the lookout though the two would be met with a rather odd sight. A large stone golem had been felled nearby and around it a rather large gathering of people had formed. At least ten adventurers surrounded the beaten construct but among them, one figure in particular would stand out to the duo. Fiona, the Hunter they had originally run into at the border the other day. The woman seemed rather beaten up and out of breath but stood upright and proud.

Getting closer the duo would be able to hear the crowd offering the hunter praise. It wouldn't take the two long to piece together that the woman had practically defeated the beast single-handedly. Indeed it seemed, once again, that the hunters truly did live up to their name. At least, Ashley and Fiona at the very least.

Teuihua in particular would have extra insight into the situation given he had been mistaken for this golem just yesterday. Yes, this was without a doubt the loose construct the adventurers had been hunting for. Quite comical when you think about it really. How does one mistake a Giant stone Golem for Teuihua? He was the size of its hand after all. Alas, the trio didn't seem present to explain themselves.

Tuning to face the approaching duo Fiona visibly flinched upon laying eyes on Teuihua. Which in turn had the adventurers turn to see the duo too, several of which immediately moved to grab at their weapons, very clearly on guard.
1684892105213.png
"Now now, lets not be so quick to judge" Echoed a voice from seemingly nowhere. "You should know, that Kirkwall or not, drawing your blade against a Baroness is a death sentence. Let's not be stupid here."
Appearing from behind a tree nearby a blond man carrying an elven crossbow appeared. Stepping between the group and Teuihua in particular. Offering Regula a polite nod the man looked to Teuihua with a yawn.
"Look, I don't trust the damn construct either but if the Baroness wants to keep it as a tool or pet or whatever. We's got to respect that an' all."

Looking back to the group of adventurers the man continued "Got it? No funny business or you'll be dealing with me."

Yawning again the man stowed his crossbow on his back before crossing his arms and shifting his focus to the Baroness "The names Drew, just Drew. I'm one of the Hunters. I was told to wait here for you by the boss man. Supposed to lead you out into the badlands and such. Are you two ready to head out? I don't really do questions, I just know you two are supposed to be dealing with Redhook and his lackeys out there. Been told to observe and nothin more."

Those with insight D or higher would be able to distinguish that a number of those adventurers present took great interest in the conversation after the mention of that name. Those with Insight C or higher would notice that Fiona in particular seemed even more disturbed by the name than she did Teuihua.

She yawned as she stretched her arms, legs and wings out. She hadn't slept the greatest after all the events and impressions from yesterday, so she was still waking up a bit on her walk to Border Hill. Luckily, Teuihua knew the way, so she could just follow him whilst waking up a bit more.

“That's quite the sight.” She mumbled upon witnessing the large stone golem. She wondered if this was an 'ancestor' of Teuihua. It didn't take long to figure out the who's what of the situation. “It's seems like you've been hard at work already, congratulations on your latest catch.” She'd greet Fiona with a genuine smile. She was still hoping to at least keep most of the hunters on her good side, even though she still wasn't sure if that'd be possible with someone like Ashley. At least it should be easier with Fiona, right? Right.

She considered healing Fiona, but wasn't sure if that'd be the most tactful. She didn't want to take away from Fiona's victory moment. She'd just check if Fiona was just 'beaten up' in the sense that she was tired and bruised without anything too serious first. If that was true, she'd leave her to it.

Just as she felt like she needed to explain Teuihua to others, someone beat her to it. She allowed him to finish speaking, even though she didn't entirely like his words. Teuihua wasn't a tool or pet, after all. Still, now might not be the right moment to argue about such a thing. “Regula Caelia, as you might've heard. It's a pleasure making your acquaintance.” She introduced herself more out of form than out of function. “Redhook... would that be another type of golem?” He wasn't sure if 'not doing questions' meant he wouldn't ask them or that he wouldn't answer them. Or both. She figured she'd at least ask the most basic one though. Namely what their target 'Redhook' was.

She was a bit surprised at how much attention the name got. It sounded like George had gotten them a juicy enough target after all. Her smile widened. Good. She'd finally get to test out her gear in full for a bit. Her gun's upgrades. Cloak and boots. Perhaps she'd even get to use the ace-up-her-sleeve, her Faeblade, if this Redhook was truly sturdy. It was an exciting prospect. “Perhaps I should put up a show then? Hmmm?” She'd tease Drew and the present adventurers after he told her he'd just observe. At the end of the day, she was still [Prideful], after all, despite her desire to help out and do good.

[Prideful] - Character has shown an awareness of self that would put them above other people and circumstances for better or for worse. Pride cometh before a fall, but it is only the prideful that strive for more, believing themselves worthy and capable. If their belief in self is true, who better to achieve the most?

Beyond leading Regula over, Teuihua as perusal unless spoken too was relatively quiet this time around much like he had been when he had escorted that merchant Neko over. He still had the bell in tow, stored away in the depth of his big arm's 'ear' so to speak. When they arrived however his gaze did fall upon the large stone construct before him, it was even larger than him. With what he knew, he couldn't help but wonder if it was a naturally occurring one rather than one which had been created given the age on it, unless golems that large weren't all that uncommon in this time, but in his time he didn't remember ones which were that large being all that common. Truthfully the sight raised many questions in the construct's mind. How had they confused him for it? Perhaps to them all constructs were alike or they had heard misinformation.

Regardless no matter where they went for the time being, Teuihua stayed at a classic body guard distance from the Baroness which he was used to on multiple occasions when he had been assigned for such occasions. Doing so seemed even more appropriate given the crowd that had gathered, and given the Baroness's new proximity to it while there didn't appear to be any outward threat, it never really felt like he could be too cautious. As guarded as the group of adventurers were toward the construct he was undoubtedly also on guard, even if he didn't outwardly show it, quite ready to be defensive and escalate like he had not all that long ago out of necessity to defuse that one situation. As a result Teuihua just looked back neutrally, it wasn't like his face was particularly capable of much emotion anyway as far as they were concerned with how static his 'mouth' and 'eyes' were.

As Teuihua was used to worse words, he wasn't particularly phased by what Drew had to say, as it was abundantly clear most people in Kirkwall didn't trust Teuihua nor constructs in general large part in thanks to the war, so being judged that way was only logical to Teuihua even if one could argue it was wrong to prejudice toward him in that way. Teuihua stayed quite for the conversation once more letting Regula and Drew talk it out, though during the introduction he did say.

"My name is Teuihua, and I am here to assist, any ally of Baroness Caelia by extension is mine as well." for anyone who particularly cared, the tone neutral and business serious, figuring there was no point being particularly warm here.

"I am prepared and ready to engage whoever is required of me." Teuihua put it plainly once more, it seeming the appropriate way of conducting himself around Drew. Teuihua was also curious about what their foe was exactly, as well as how Regula was intending to 'put on a show.' Regardless whatever challenges came their way Teuihua was ready to handle them in stride, dealing with this problem would better the Barony it had sounded like after all.

The Baroness' attempt to congratulate Fiona was met with a sheepish smile and panicked bow. Like a deer caught in headlights, it seemed the woman was very much uncomfortable around the Baroness and her companion. Clearly on edge, the woman was quick to scamper off toward the watchtower where she then disappeared within. Even with Regula's insight the woman's intent and reasoning for acting in such a way would be unreadable. Perhaps she was just odd? Perhaps she was just simply not good with nobles and constructs. Perhaps Regula had other ideas but alas that's all they would amount to, vague ideas. At the very least the woman didn't seem hostile.

Fortunately, though at least the other Hunter was willing to talk to the Baroness and Teuihua. Bringing his fingers to cup his chin, Drew thought deeply for a moment, giving both our protagonists more than enough time to introduce themselves and finish speaking their piece. That said, he did let an awkward amount of silence linger in the air before responding "Reguale Caelia. Huh, go figure. Thought your name was Regula. My apologies. Anyway..." Turning to glance back at the group of adventurers Drew gave then a stern look of disapproval "You guys not got enough to do or are you just gawking for the fun of it? Show some respect, last thing we need are some annoying guards coming in here and stinking up the place. Show at least some respect would ya. Tsk"

Returning his focus to Teuihua the man shook his head "Even if it is a golem, it's a companion of your Baroness. Now go on! GET!". Without looking back to the group Drew issued his command and like clockwork the adventurers gathered began to disperse, some heading back toward town and others to the tower.

With the Trio alone now, Drew took a long yawn and stretch before turning to face the badlands "Right, suppose we better get going then.". For a man who had just spoken quite a lot about showing the Baroness respect it was quite bold of him to completely blank her line of questioning but that he did.

1685057820697.png

After Following Drew for quite some time the trio would at last enter what was known as the badlands. A large expanse that was devoid of all life. A once vibrant plain transformed and utterly ruined by a war long past. Stretching far onto the horizon the desolate field was decorated with several weapons, each stabbed deep into the hard rocky earth below. This entire field was a graveyard and every weapon was a tombstone.

If it wasn't obvious beforehand, it was obvious now. The reason Kirwallians despised constructs summed up in but a single sight. Countless swords, spears, and shields, each a lost soul, each taken far too soon. Stopping right before a large claymore Drew turned to face the Baroness "You're going to want to be very careful from this point on. Once you cross this here marker, you might want to hurl, seen many a mage lose their mind here. Don't say I didn't warn ya m'kay".

Stepping past it Drew waited for the others to do so. But surprisingly, neither Regula nor Teuihua would feel sick at all. In fact, the two of them would feel nothing at all change as they passed the marker.

"Huh, go figure. If Fiona were here shed be foaming at the mouth and curling up into a ball. Welp, no point in delayin, onwards we g..."

Bang!

Before Drew could finish a large explosion erupted where he had been stood. Fortunately, he narrowly avoided the blast but not all was well. In the distance approximately 90 ft away, Regula and Teuihua would spot the attacker. A steel construct that was now aiming its canon toward the Teuihua. Just about ready to make another attack.

"'Well, go on then. Put on a show"

Teuihua supposed that Fiona's reaction wasn't exactly unreasonable given that it was clear she wasn't fond of constructs, even so there were probably better actions that could have been taken in that exchange considering it was the Baroness of all people she had been speaking too. Teuihua was admittedly confused as to why Reguale was now the name that Regula was being associated with as she said that and Drew questioned what was going on. He wasn't about to speak for Regula on the matter even so figuring that she would correct whatever needed to be in this case in the exchange, unless she had actually recently changed her name to Reguale without Teuihua knowing.

Of course Teuihua was also very aware he was the attraction that so many of the adventurers felt the need to look at whether it was because they were resentful, afraid, intrigued, or whatever combination it was like he was some sort of tourist attraction, the fact they were paying attention even more to him than the literal Baroness it seemed was a testament to that, but Teuihua was not going to speak on that matter. Regardless once all was dealt with there Teuihua followed dilligently staying near the Baronness. He looked around at the badlands with a gaze like a sentry.

Teuihua wasn't entirely sure what he was looking at with all the weapons in the ground at first, since it wasn't a custom he was used to. Weapons were frequently buried with the dead of warriors where he was from. it didn't take him too long to be clued in though when he picked up on how they had been strategically placed and this was an area of construct as he started to connect the dots gradually.

Teuihua found drew's comment curious, but he wasn't as concerned being a construct if this was something that had to do with minds as far as his well being went but he did look to Regula to make sure she was okay..but then it was apparent that neither of them felt the potential ill effects of whatever Drew was talking about. If Drew wasn't exaggerating Teuihua couldn't help but wonder whatever could possibly be causing the reaction he spoke of that others had had.

Teuihua then heard loud bang sound as he saw a construct firing something at them which he had never even seen, some kind of cylinder that was firing projectiles at them. No matter for Teuihua he wasn't going to let this thing hurt Regula or any one else, so he figured it was better if the fire was on him for the time being.

"Engaging hostile." He announced, just so it was clear to Regula and Drew what he was doing. Unfortunately the distance that the construct was away made things a bit harder being at 90 ft, thankfully due to Teuihua's stride that made up for some of it, with Fast F.

After using two actions to move toward the construct which would put him close enough in striking range Teuihua would rotate his large pillar arm backward a degree before attempting to smash the thing toward the center of it's body with his SuperStrength E perhaps in an effort to knock it over. Even if Teuihua got blasted on the way due to his size and natural armor he'd still be better off than anyone else getting hit by something like that he thought.

1. Move toward Construct with Fast F
2. Continue to move toward construct to get in striking range.
3. Strike Construct with standalone ability using SuperStrength E.

She had no clue what this mage/hunter girl was all about. Perhaps she'd been too tired from the battle to come up with an answer? Or perhaps she didn't know how to deal with nobility? Or... Perhaps the mage just didn't like her? Yeah. That was a fair option. Fiona didn't seem to like constructs either, so a noble having a construct ally? She was likely hated by her already. Shame. She really did want to try getting along with these Hunters. At least this Drew didn't seem too bad, even though she continued her streak of awkward first impressions. Best she remedy that a little. “Yes, Regula it is, you just misheard me, that's all dear~” She replied with some Baroness' Charm C, as if she'd never misspoken at all.

A light chuckle escaped her lips as Drew reprimanded everyone for not giving respect, even though he himself wasn't exactly an example of proper etiquette either. Still, he knew what mattered most, as she too was more concerned about their mixed hostility toward Teuihua far more than about her own status or praise right now. When he ignored her question, she figured that figuring that part out was just going to be part of the trial.

“This area looks even more desolate than I imagined it would.” It was honestly baffling to see. “Thanks for the heads-up.” She replied, but... she didn't feel a thing. “Some anti-mage magic, then? How peculiar.” As they passed on, she'd quickly check her gear, to see if that was affected by whatever anti-mage thing might be going on. Or well, she would've, were they not greeted by an attack.

“I'll hit it first, you follow-up!” She quickly called out to Teuihua. Now that combat had started, her first action was to start Flying (moving up) to get the high ground. As Teuihua continued to approach, but before he came into contact with the hostile, she'd fire at it. Deciding to try out her opponent with an average [Hextech Gunfire D] first, rather than going all out. As for targets, she aimed over Teuihua's head at the enemies weapons (2 targets) head (1 target), legs (2 targets), and torso (remaining 5 targets). She decided not to use a third combat action, as she didn't want to risk hitting Teuihua once he'd been in melee range of the enemy for his third action.

Regula's swift ascent was met with little resistance from the enemy construct, indeed with its focus locked on Teuihua the Baroness had all the time in the world to accurately aim her weapon at her target. That said when the time came to fire the weapon no sooner did Regula pull upon the trigger did the weapon begin acting strangely. With the barrel sparking and runes flashing wildly the weapon was rendered all but useless. Regula's insight would reveal this was indeed more than likely a result of whatever it was that had been affecting mages in the area. For now, it was likely best to stick to non-magic-based weaponry and abilities.

Teuihua on the other hand successfully managed to reach his target before it had been able to launch its second attack. With Teuihua making it successfully within range of the construct his forceful attack landed quite easily given the opponent's size. Though it didn't seem as though it was powerful enough to do anything more than scratch the armor plating, Teuihua did successfully manage to knock the construct onto its back. Having effectively disabled it's main cannon Teuihua was now safe from harm, his opponent clearly unable to get back up on its own.

Unfortunately just as the battle seemed all but won the construct's extended barrel turned to aim at Regula who was still high in the air above the two. From it, a burst of 3 shots came flying her way. Thunk, thunk, thunk.

The first shot connected with her left shoulder, the second with her stomach, and the last with her chest. Though the shots were not explosive in nature, they stung the A-rank adventurer quite a bit, she wouldn't have to worry about anything more than a few dark bruises. Luckily, though her weapon had escaped the barrage.

Her initial excitement quickly made place for disappointment. In her first real battle, all her gear burned down before she could use it. Now it was made inoperative before she could use it. Did just about every enemy have the perfect way to deal with her craft? There were three things she was particularly proud off. First was the position she'd gotten right now, Baroness. Second was her friends and family. Third was the craft she'd dedicated a large chunk of her life towards. That third one was starting to let her down more and more often. She knew her cloak might be able to cure cursed conditions, but it'd need to activate first, so that wasn't an option either. She quickly used [Appraisal A] on her gun, to see if she could find what was causing it to malfunction (action 1).

Perhaps that's why she was never given a chance to defend against or dodge the counterattack. That said, the impact was far less heavy than expected. At least her armour was pulling its weight, as things only stung for a bit. Noticing it could only aim upwards, she descended to fly close to the ground and out of its range. She switched weapons to her spear whilst closing in on the construct (action 2, movement, Flight C) until she was besides it. Then she used her spear with a [Simple Strike] to attempt to finish off the construct before it could fire again. “It seems like magic's been stopped here, including enchantments relying on it. My boots might work, but the rest is out of use, unless we find what's blocking magic and get rid of it.” She informed Teuihua of her findings.

"This area is most strange, between the magic ceasing to work properly and a construct which I cannot say I have ever seen anything like before." Teuihua spoke truthfully while he watched the construct fall over.

"I understand." He further clarified when she said that her equipment wasn't working properly. Unfortunately for him he didn't really have access to what he wanted to use to try to assess the area and see if he could find out what was causing the magical blocking.

"I haven't seen any construct quite like this.where do you think it comes from?" However Teuihua was alarmed when the thing fired off shots anyway while the place where they were coming from still managed to fire them, in the sky Teuihua wasn't able to do much to stop the Baroness from being hit, as before he could say much of anything it appeared that they had already hit her, not doing much damage thankfully it looked like, as she came down to engage.

"Baroness, are you alright? I apologize in my current condition you were out of my range of protection.." He said sounding concerned and even a bit upset at the notion that he couldn't do what he felt he needed to do there, his body still wasn't functioning to the extent that he wanted it to or knew that it could at full capacity he could have definitely protected her from those shots. However it wasn't nearly as urgent as it could have sounded because when he looked at her she appeared to be relatively okay, particularly when she came to follow up.

Seeing her come down and striking the construct with her spear, Teuihua opted against using his aura, not wanting to hit it with it and then potentially have some residual come off of it and then hit her. It should have worked without being cancelled if he had since it was coming from his body and fighting style rather than enchantment or casting, but instead he just decided to do a simple team up attack and partake in her stab attack by rotating his torso back and making his hand into a fist before moving forward and non ability basic attacking with it as a natural E grade weapon, striking again where he had smashed it prior.

1. Team up with Regula and strike Construct in same place bashed with other arm, not using ability just using fist as Natural E grade Weapon

Alone the attacks of Regula and Teuihua would not have dealt any damage but together the metal plating of the construct couldn't even hope to hold up against the combination of blows. With Teuihua's blunt force attacks having sufficiently dented the plating Regula's piercing attack managed to pierce clean through, damaging the construct's complicated internal mechanisms. The result? The duo had successfully destroyed the construct foe. With the construct's lights slowly dying out such was made clear.

That being said the duo hadn't much time to bask in their victory for another pair of constructs soon arrived moving at quite a rapid pace. These constructs resembled dogs in a very roundabout way but of course, with both being around Teuihua's size they were far more like horses save for the small tail-like appendage sticking out from behind. The first of the two robots began to circle the two at a range of 20 feet. It's weapon tracking Regula but seemingly unready to fire.

The second bot surged toward Teuihua, hitting him with its hard metallic body. Though Teuihua would feel the impact it would cause no damage thanks to his super strength and natural armor that said, if he didn't act soon the construct would very likely end up pushing him away from Regula and off into the distance. For now, though, he was able to stand strong. Having only been moved back roughly five feet.

"Warning, Warning. Hostiles detected. Unit 023 has been defeated. Alert, requesting immediate backup. Code Red."

The two constructs spoke in tandem and no sooner had they finished speaking did an ear-piercing alarm begin to blare from their tails. Being a construct Teuihua wouldn't suffer any side effects but Regula on the other hand would have her sense of hearing [Flair ?]. Thanks to her vitality though her hearing was only half as effective as opposed to disabled.

Teuihua was relived as their combined attack finished off this strange construct which was capable of firing off long range shots from that barrel. When it's light finally went out Teuihua reaffirmed, "It's been incapacitated."

Just as Teuihua went to go and get a good look at Regula just to make sure that she was actually okay, and Just as Teuihua thought that they might get a break even if for a moment even more started to come. They were also very strange designs in Teuihua's mind which he had not seen before. At the sound of the hostiles Teuihua immediately rotated to look at them and got ready to engage. It was a sound which was very difficult to miss but thankfully as a construct apparently it wasn't designed to negatively affect him

"More strange constructs incoming."

Teuihua saw the one going after Regula and called out "Watch out." before he found himself getting struck by one of the constructs. Teuihua had no intention of taking this hit lying down however, as he accepted it and decided now was the time to dish a serious one back. Thankfully after not using an E grade ability for a round his ability to do so was back online. As a result even while he was being forcibly pushed back by the construct Teuihua readied himself, by moving back his large pillar like arm once again, blue electric energy began to get generated from his body's core once more, until it engulfed his body and became a harmful aura, before if he could he'd smash the pillar arm into the construct pushing him back, while at the same time shocking it with his aura.

Despite the aura taking an extra action away, since it wasn't Teuihua who was moving from his spot, but he was being moved and the fact he was within 5 ft of the target which meant he was in striking range without any range modifiers needed, he could also follow up with another basic non ability strike, winding up his fist again to strike the construct a second time with his natural weapon. As much a Teuihua wanted to to continue to assist Regula, the only real thing he could do is try to make swift work on this one and then come and help her with the rest after the fact if he could. This would be the best course of action as leaving this thing active any longer was a threat to both of them as it managed to push him even with his immense weight.

1. & 2. Smash construct who pushed him with SuperStrength E + Aura F (E grade ability 1 round cooldown) (Aura F: Costs 2 actions)
3. Follow up with non ability basic strike using Natural Weapon E in form of more agile arm to punch construct due to being in 5 ft melee range.

It seemed like nothing stuck to the gun. No specific curse or ability or something. It didn't look like any of the enchantments were broken either. Just nullified somehow, with no clue as to how and/or with what. “Agreed.” She replied shortly and to the point. This area and these constructs were strange. She wasn't even able to make a guess at where it might've come from. She laughed off the question if she was alright. “No worries, it'll take more than that to be more than a mere inconvenience.”

Still, the constructs had been sturdier than expected, as it took both her own and Teuihua's attack to get through. Two more constructs appeared. They were large and looked dangerous. She spotted one tracking her, so she landed on the ground and activated [Power of Hermes D] and moved up to the creature (action 1) to rush it before it could fire its weapon That'd also move her away from Teuihua, so that he could do his thing without having to worry about friendly fire.

The words were peculiar. Was that what'd lure in this Redhook? She assumed it would. Best she'd try to save some energy, in that case. That's when the noise started. Bloody hell, that was painful and annoying. It almost made her stop in her tracks, but she somehow managed to bite through it and continued onwards. She had great focus (B) in general, so she'd not let something like this distract her.

As she crossed the distance to the one that'd been tracking her, she'd aim for its barrel/weapon with [Valkyrie Defence E] (action 2) to destroy its weapon and deflect any attack that it might've been building up towards away from herself. Then she went in for a regular attack in the hopes of finishing it off (action 3). “Expect their boss to be inbound!” She called out to Teuihua, barely even hearing herself.

Teuihua's blunt force attack did little to harm the charging construct's exterior armor but luckily for him, it seemed his initial Aura attack had been quite the critical blow. With energy surging out of Teuihua and into the construct's inner mechanisms, it didn't take all that long for the construct to quite anticlimactically fall over and cease operation. Given how effectively an quickly the Aura seemed to defeat the opponent, it would become quite clear to Teuihua that these creatures were extremely weak to energy/electricity-based attacks while being quite resistant to raw physical ones.

Regula on the other hand wouldn't be quite as successful against her foe.

With Regula's speed, the construct she was combating had very little time to accurately aim for her weak points. Having closed in much faster than the construct had been really expecting, it was forced to fire haphazardly. An action that would be it's demise. With a burst of projectiles being shot out from it's central turret, Regula was quite literally handed all the ammunition she would need to deal a devastating blow via Reflect. With the projectiles instead being returned to the sender, the construct turret was easily disabled rendering it incapable of countering or attacking any further. Regula had disabled her opponent's ability to fight back but just like before her spear had no chance of piercing the armor of the construct on its own. It seemed both Regula and her opponent were now in a standoff, both seemingly unable to do harm to the other.

Thud, thud, thud. Footsteps echoed in the distance along with the sound of scattering swords that had unfortunately stood in it's path. Though the opponent that was approaching was not yet clear a slight outline could be seen in the distance.

"Here he comes. Watch the skies, and whatever you do. Do not stop moving!" Drew called back, very quickly moving back toward the distant Borderhill. Was he retreating? Surely not right?

Teuihua was pleased to hear Regula reply in that way since it sounded like she actually was okay which put him at ease considerably. The construct hadn't quite been expecting his electric aura to be so effective on his mechanized foe who he had been engaging a melee with not that long ago before it ceased functioning. Once the golem was certain that his opponent wasn't going to surprise him and start moving again, Teuihua looked over to Regula and saw that while she had disabled the firing capacities of the construct which she was fighting, Teuihua felt that information like this was worth it to call out to Regula.

"These constructs appear to resistant to physical force but this one was weak to my energy generation, not longer after my body gave off the energy in proximity to it ceased functioning!" The golem announced his discovery. Teuihua found it difficult to believe these could be mere Empire constructs, from his rudimentary understanding of what he had heard of the empire they seemed too advanced for their style of war machine, perhaps they were originally created from somewhere in the realm who had gotten further in technology than anyone had previously realized.

What Teuihua did realize pretty quickly was that between Drew seemingly moving to what he deemed a safe distance, and Regula calling out that Teuihua should expect the boss to come soon, he saw that Regula was locked into some kind of back and forth with the construct while something was thumping along, Teuihua looked to the sound of the thudding in whatever direction it was, and while the advice to not stop moving was well taken, once again with Regula so close to the construct he couldn't shock the thing, and his E grade ability was still on cool down so he did the next best thing he could do.

He moved up to the construct in a straight line as many ft as needed who Regula was engaged with it as quickly as he could striking it with a wound up punch wherever he could land one. However after hearing the advice not to stop moving he didn't believe that staying there so close to Regula and not moving again was wise so he moved back 40 ft the way he came , looking up as Drew recommended.

1. Move toward construct Regula is engaged with.
2. To avoid friendly fire punch construct with Non ability with E Grade Natural Weapon in form of fist.
3. Move back 40 ft the same way he came, look to the sky.

On one hand, she was glad she started her Valkyrie training after the devastating loss in the See. On the other hand, she realised it still wasn't enough. She'd disabled the weapon, but she didn't manage to defeat her opponent. That was a shame. She heard Drew and Teuihua say a few things. Something about “comes... skies... moving...” and “resistant... force... energy...” or some other things. Her ears were still ringing a lot from the blaring just a moment ago, but she got the gist of it. However, Drew falling back stood out. Teuihua mentioning energy was what made things click. She could still try something! “Do me a favour and keep it busy for a bit. I think I might've figured out how to use my weapons, assuming this area only interrupts the casting itself and not result of it...”

It was a big gamble, a 50/50 split on if just the casting would be nullified or also the resulting attack, but it was a worthwhile gamble. After all, her attacks were doing very little right now, whilst using her gear should make this a whole lot more easy. Using her Boots of Swiftness (Power of Hermes C), she looked up to see if there was a clear line to go and then jumped out of the zone to get away and across the line Drew had pointed out, before whatever came from the skies would get to her (action 1) after which she kept flying at an altitude that would allow her to see across most of the desolate field (action 2) so that she could try what she'd been unable to do before, firing her Hextech Gun with Hextech Gunfire D. She'd spent 2 'targets' on the smaller construct she'd been unable to finish off before and (if she could see him from this position) 8 targets on Redhook. She'd aim for his weapons and/or whatever might stick out as aiming devices or magic jammers.

Surprisingly Teuihua's punch managed to brake the dog-like construct's natural armor, revealing the complex mechanics that had been hiding behind within. That said it was not enough to finish the enemy but it sure was a good start. A good start that was well utilized later by Regula's ranged assault.

Regula had successfully made it out of the anti-magic field, having backtracked past the line Drew had earlier pointed out. No sooner had she done so did her Hextech Gun return to normal. Preparing her attack Regula took a bet, would the field disable a spell that had already been cast? The answer was no.

Regula's attack hit true striking both her targets exactly where she had targeted. The results? The dog-like construct had been reduced to scrap and the approaching behemoth, well it was still approaching. Regula's attacks had definitely hit, but with the target still so far away the duo would be unable to tell how effective the attack had been just yet. At the very least she hadn't disabled Redhook's weapon systems. That much became very clear very fast. A volley of 14 rockets was shot skywards, disappearing into the cloud layer above. Then another fourteen, a volley from each shoulder. Based on the construct's current speed it would be within melee range quite soon if left undeterred (2 turns if you don't move to meet it)

Insight C
At face value, it seemed the antimagic field prevented those within its radius from utilizing abilities and enchantments that contained the magic skill as a base. Yet with Regula's attack passing through the area clearly it was doing something else, but what?

Insight F
Though rockets are not very common in IH with Drew's warning as well as the sight of those projectiles heading upward, it's safe to say an attack is imminent from the sky above.

Culture F: These type of constructs could not possibly be native to the Eastern Empire.

Arcana C: The Anti Magic Field likely has nothing to do with Redhook

Her gamble paid off. Twice. The first time was when it turned out to be true that she'd return her gear to normal outside the field. The second time when her gun's magic would enter the field without being nullified. Honestly, she felt a whole wave of relief wash over her. She'd have looked extremely foolish or cowardly if she'd jumped all the way back only to fail her attack and look like she fled, leaving Teuihua behind. Now, she might actually deliver on her promise of putting up a show.

Having confirmed that her attacks worked, it was time to go all out. “Leave the rockets to me, focus on intercepting it!” She called out to Teuihua, as a smile crept onto her face. This was much better. Target practice. Finally she'd get to test whether her gun was truly worth something or not. As they were falling through the clouds, she aimed her gun at the incoming volleys, using [Hextech Gunfire] B to intercept all 28 targets and using the remaining 22 target options against the big guy himself, 7 for the left arm, 7 for the right arm 8 for his torso. Even if he was far away, she had the range and enough targets to hit it with some of them.

Next up, she figured she'd test another thing, activating her [Safe Zone C] on her Guardian Cloak for three reasons. One, to get rid of the ache in her muscles from the earlier impact. Two, to see if it would be able to undo some of the anti-magic field, if it'd push through it as well, if it'd be stopped... what'd happen in general, if anything at all. Finally, to use the [Control Environment E] on it to give her a bit more shade. She didn't want to get sunburned.

"I'll keep it busy and focus on intercepting it!" He called back. Despite the number of strange projectiles coming down Regula told him not to worry about them, thankfully she managed to defeat her foe and move onto the bigger one with him in swift enough action, seeing her move around was quite the sight, as she dealt with portions of the hostile's barrage. It was very apparent by how powerful this thing was, that he needed to be careful. At this point however Teuihua couldn't help but feel with the display that it felt like Regula was protecting him rather than the other way around. Truthfully he should be happy that was the conclusion he was coming to since it meant that the Baroness was much more likely to be safe with how she had handled that big hit earlier, but at the same time it just made him wish that he was at full power again so that he could really show her what he was capable of.

Instead of running away from this large construct which could send large volleys of strange projectiles up into the sky toward them, Teuihua decided that he was going to meet the construct and deal with it the only way he really knew how in that instant, which was to engage it in combat as he had the others. Clearly these constructs were a danger to everyone in this area, and if his theory was right that they didn't look like Empire constructs as it didn't match what he had heard then a better question was WHO exactly was creating constructs which were this destructive and advanced looking. It didn't matter to Teuihua, he was not going to fail it was not an option, he was going to cease any threat which posed itself against the populous like this, particularly when it was abundantly clear that a many of these people were good people just trying to do the same whose lives had been taken in this area.

With a swift as possible movement that the thudding construct could make he made his way toward the vollyer with an increased pace, with thanks to his Fast F
He was going to strike this one with all that he had learned with the others, and it was going to be for all of those lives that had been lost prior.

After he moved enough feet to the front of the thing to strike it he brought his pillar arm back once more and struck with a combination of SuperStrength E and Aura F, his body lighting up with a blue electricity again being generated from within, knowing that this had severely hurt the others, he hoped that these combined would do the same to this threat and keep it's attention on him.

1. Move as many ft as needed to get within 5 ft range of Construct with Fast F

Regula's efforts to counter the incoming volley of rockets were expertly carried out. Without fail she managed to shoot down each and every warhead as they appeared from behind the cloud cover. It was so impressive in fact even Drew had gotten more energetic, with the sharpshooter even whistling in awe of the sight he had just seen. But that's not where the show ended, not even close.

With Regula handling the rockets, Teuihua was free to make full use of his Fast skill and close the distance between himself and the enemy construct. Though the being towered above Teuihua, he faltered not and delivered an impressive blow of his own. Hitting the constructs leg with his energized Aura, Teuihua managed to do the unthinkable. He forced the construct to take a knee. Though Teuihua hadn't so much as dented the opponent's armor clearly his aura had passed through with ease. Truely this was a David vs Goliath moment if ever there was one and Drew was just as, if not more astonished to see such a sight. After all this hulking construct had been terrorizing the area for the past three years and yet our heroic duo was handling it as though it were merely child's play.

With the Behmonth down on one knee, its attack fully countered and Teuihua posed and ready to strike again, things were looking grim for the construct. which was quite alarming considering the duel attack was yet to be finished. With the rockets wiped out Regula was ready to execute the hulking machine. And that she did. With 22 shots colliding with multiple limbs and a few critical points Regula's attack was brutally overkill.

Falling backward, the Behemoth was defeated, killed in but a single combination attack. It was almost anti-climatic in a sense. But then again, there likely wasn't much in the area that could withstand the brutal weapon that was Regula's Hextech Rifle. Still, something just wasn't right. Though the construct had been defeated and most of it's lights had been put out, a single blinking one remained. It was odd but of no real concern right?

"Wow, George told me I could sit back and watch but. Truth be told, I didn't expect you guys to even dent old Redhook. Heck only George ever has. Just... what kind of a Baroness are you? What the heck kinda noble goes around with that kinda firepower?" Drew was clearly in awe of the sight he had just seen. Dumbfounded even as he approached the defeated construct slowly.

Insight C: A final attack? But how? It's weapons are all disabled

Regula's Cloak would have initially materialized but upon reaching the barrier line would immediately be put back on cooldown and canceled out. It seemed in this particular case the 'Control Enviroment' had been defeated in a contest of grades.

She was happy. Happy that Teuihua went along with her plan. Happy that her plan had paid off. Happy that her gun finally got a fully worthy test-run. It was visible on her face. She couldn't hide it. She enjoyed this a lot. Bringing down a tough opponent by using her invention to its fullest from the get-go. Letting loose. Finally, she felt like some of her continuing doubt about her acts during the blazing fires in the See was diminished. She wasn't wasn't weak. She was strong. She just faced an even stronger opponent on unfavourable terms back then.

That said, something bothered her. A fluke, most likely, but still... She had only a split second to decided. Her previous gamble had paid off. She'd trusted her instincts. She'd do so again. It was better to look like a complete fool than to see her friends getting harmed. As she spotted its light blinking, she rushed over to meet up with Teuihua and Drew using Boots of Swiftness D. She quickly opened up a Pocket Dimension E (action 2) and called out. “GET IN!” To Teuihua and Drew with as much authority and persuasiveness as she could muster without using a proper ability to leverage her Leadership/Persuasion skills as she'd need her energy elsewhere. She'd just have to hope they'd get in quickly so she could do what she had to do next.

Which was to jump/run away as far and fast as she could using her Boots of Swiftness to their fullest with Power of Hermes B to get as far away from that thing as quickly as she could (action 3). In the worst case, the other two would be safe while she'd take a hit that she'd (hopefully) not die from. If she did... she hoped Teuihua would be quick enough to bring her to Aria. She'd enchanted those legs herself, so if enough of her was left, Aria could resurrect her with them. That wasn't the greatest plan thought, so the current plan was to outrun whatever this thing might do. Or, well, to hope her instincts were wrong and that she'd merely be making a fool out of herself.

She did take note of the odd happening with her cloak being annulled, but had no time to think it through more thoroughly.

Despite everything going so initially smoothly Between Regula countering the projectile's Teuihua striking the large foe with a smash and his electrical energy coursing through it's body damaging it, and Teuihua's initial concern when it looked like he was about to get absolutely pummeled with out many ways to counter in his current form thankfully Regula had gotten out of the field and hit the large construct with what could only be described as a barrage of destruction. Despite this Teuihua also took notice of the light, when all the destruction was said and done and that was concerning, what did it mean? Even after hearing Drew emote much more than he had in the past, finally sounding like he was giving Regula the notoriety she deserved.

Upon seeing Regula come over with authority that quickly and demand that they get into the pocket dimension only further confirmed Teuihua's thoughts that the light still going was something dangerous that they needed to avoid. Teuihua didn't have much time to talk, so he made a few wide gesture with his more regular arm for Drew to follow him in to the pocket dimension portal. "Follow me it is unsafe here!" He called out to Drew with urgency before Teuihua would make his way into the pocket dimension for safety. All he could really hope was that whatever Regula was planning wasn't going to get her killed, under normal circumstances he would have been against this sort of thing of him being preserved before the Baroness since it was against his sense of purpose which was to protect his organic allies. But under these circumstances there really was no to get in any kind of debate about it.

1. Move as many ft needed into pocket dimension.

boom konosuba GIF

Regula's quick thinking along with Teuihua's willingness to do what his Baroness demanded would ultimately work out for the best. Drew, though hesitant and confused ended up being swayed just in time by Teuihua and Regula's words/actions. It would be a tight enough fit for Teuihua and Drew within the pocket dimension but ultimately it would end up being the safest place for them.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

With the behemoth's light beginning to flash and doing so faster and faster with every passing second, Regula had very little time to make an escape of her own. Her utilization of her boots effects would gain her some distance but ultimately her attempted escape would unfortunately be for naught. In a flash of blinding light, the construct detonated and obliterated everything within a half-mile range. Severely wounding the Baroness in the process. Indeed as though that weren't enough, the blast would also go on to carry the Baroness forward past that half-mile point and toss her roughly along the hard earth thereafter as if she were weightless. Her wings were burning, limbs and many other bones were broken, and with a pain that was almost unbearable resonating from deep within one could be certain internal bleeding was going to be an issue too. In summary, the Baroness would find herself just barely holding onto her consciousness, lucky even to be alive and completely immobilized. If she was in this state, it was safe to say, Teuihua and Drew would have certainly perished.

1685899481928.png

After roughly ten minutes had passed, Regula's cloak would begin to naturally react to her injuries and begin restoring her with [Safe Zone C]. It seemed that the ability had finally come off cooldown and was reactivated automatically as the Baroness was not the one who canceled it in the first place. A stroke of good luck. Another ten minutes and she likely would have succumbed to her injuries.

Teuihua and Drew though safe would have been waiting this whole time without any idea what had happened in the outside world. Left to just converse among themselves. Or they would have been had Drew not fallen asleep two minutes into his 'prison sentence'. In other words, Teuihua was left alone in a cramped space for the past ten minutes to worry bout the fate of his Baroness. Or, you know, whatever it is Constructs like to think about. Do constructs dream of electric sheep?

Sheet got updated. As always, her image links to the sheet.

She was glad to see Teuihua hop on board. Or rather, into the pocket dimension. Not only that, he did so without question and told Drew to follow him. She'd clearly gotten herself a loyal companion. Now she just had to hope she wouldn't make a fool out of herself.

Well... she hadn't. Just not in the way she expected. Visions flashed her back into the past. A forest. Semetress. A bird. Some eastern looking fox man... East Empire spies. Fire. Lots and lots of fire. A scorching heat. Aria's legs getting burned into ashes. A scream escaped her lips as she could feel the same fires all over again. Between being tossed through the air and feeling so much pain that she could barely stay conscious, she no longer got the state of mind to even recognise which was real, being right back in those blazing fires in the See.

She wasn't sure how long it lasted, as her eyes were hazy. “Aria..? Aria... are you.. alright?” She tried uttering, still far too much out of it to figure out the current time and place. However, as her cloak got activated again, she could feel herself recover a bit. She'd immediately use it to an even higher degree, or at least try to, with [Safe Zone B]. Anything to sooth some of this awful pain in her bones, her wings... her everything. Every single thing felt like it was either broken or burned.

Slowly, it started to get better, as the healing made her recover bit by bit. She got up, stretching her limbs to see if everything was still there. Luckily, it was. She spread her wings. The feathers still blackened, but they were back in order. With lots of things burned, such as clothes, armour, wings, and feathers, she tried her best to make herself somewhat presentable. It was a foolish dream right now, but one she pursued it out out of a remaining shamble of her [Prideful] nature and out of instinct.

When she opened the Pocket Dimension again to let Teuihua and Drew exit it, she'd be smiling (although the slightest bit of insight would show how fake that smile was). “That got a little heated at the end. I hope you two didn't make a mess of my armoury while you were in there?” She said, referring to the spare weapons she kept pocketed. Just like when she could only focus on trying to be there from Aria after the past trauma, she was once again acting as optimistic as she could to avoid thinking about this latest near-death encounter.

“I wonder who'd make those nasty pieces of work. Perhaps Aria's father, a man named Marcus and an influential weapon's dealer, would know of them. He seems the type to be interested in these things and definitely the type to plant such a type of explosion magic into them. If I didn't know better, I'd almost say it'd be his handy-work...” She mumbled the latter. Was she onto something or was she overthinking? Probably the latter.

She figured she'd ask Aria later, as it was best to focus on something else for now. “By the way, Drew, before I forget, I've showed off. I think it's your turn now. Why don't you show me what you are made off for a bit?” She spoke with Barones' Charm C (old). She tried to head over to Teuihua, but suddenly, her sight went black for a bit, making her stumble.

“Ugh... sorry. Just a bit woozy.” This had taken a lot more out of her than she thought it would. So much for bragging and putting up a show. Still, at least her friends were alright and the threat had been dealt with. Those two things were most important right now. She vaguely recalled Drew's question, as she desperately tried to keep her focus from going back to traumatic events. “You asked what type of Baroness I am, right? I'd invite you to judge me yourself. All I can say is that I'm happy right now. Thanks for listening to me when I told you to get in...” She spoke, looking over at Teuhia and Drew. This wasn't like the fires in the See. This wasn't when she'd led Aria into a fight that cost her her legs. This was different, this was good. They were both unharmed. She only realised a few tears streamed down her face when she looked over at Teuihua. “Ah, sorry. Something got into my eyes during the fight.” That wasn't technically a lie. Her eyes had nearly burned out of their sockets... Still, the truth was obvious to anyone looking for it.

Teuihua might have struck up a conversation with Drew after entering the dimension. But it wasn't long before Drew apparently near instantly fell asleep, the first thing Teuihua did was try to check to make sure he wasn't having some sort of medical emergency, but thankfully that was quickly determined to not be the case. He did look around at any weapons he could see there was enough light in the dimension to see them with. All he could really do was wait with anxiety about Regula. Was his Baroness truly okay? She was going up against something incredibly dangerous out there? All he could really do was wish he could be there by her side ready to protect her from whatever. He really would feel much better if he could protect his Baroness, even if he knew that she was well enough, it was a strong desire. He truly cared for her and her safety only more as time had gone on. Truthfully it was times like these Teuihua wondered if this was exactly what organics felt like when someone they cared about was in danger.
Thankfully after the what felt like a much longer period than it actually was passing the entrance to the pocket dimension opened up Teuihua gently nudged drew with his leg if he wasn't awake yet to wake him up, figuring if the tap was too light to play it safe, feeling Teuihua's temperature would wake him no doubt. Teuihua then stepped out of the portal and looked to her as she spoke, feeling immediately relieved that she looked okay, unaware of the vast amount of healing that had taken place.

"No we did not, I looked but did not touch, Drew rested." The construct recalled honestly.

At the next part Teuihua looked to her once more. "That would be a shame if constructs someone like him created were causing problems around here for innocent people..they're very destructive." Teuihua concluded. Upon seeing Regula start to stumble some Teuihua immediately made his way over to her, and offered her his dexterous arm for support.

"Baroness..you may use me for support or if you'd like I can even carry you. I..do not want you to fall over and get hurt." He spoke earnestly.

"I also can tell that you've been working very hard..to keep everyone safe, but your wellbeing matters too..I will be here for you in the most difficult times and in our times of celebration. I promise you that." He said reassuringly as he saw her start to tear up a bit. While it wasn't clear what had happened it was obvious that she was exhausted in some capacity and was feeling some form of emotions that were running high, it didn't take skills to get basic reading of that. He hoped that Drew would be able to read the room with how she was feeling too.

Drew exited the pocket dimension slowly, looking around cautiously as he did so. It had been his first time experiencing magic of the sort and to say it had tripped him up mentally would be quite the understatement. Of course, he knew of other spacial planes, but to experience such was a whole other thing. Thoughts about whether the world they lived in could possibly be a pocket dimension itself began to assault him. He wouldn't be sleeping tonight. He had just seen a true monster in action. And that same monster was now standing before him asking for a demonstration of his own skill. Quickly turning pale the man would stutter a few times before making a run for the border hill, with Fast C activating he managed to quite quickly get away from the wounded Regula and her companion.

It seemed Regula's 'show' had been far too much for the man. Regula truly wasn't having an easy time dealing with the Hunters. That was for sure.

Still, just as all hope seemed lost a familiar cry was heard from above. Were anyone to look up they would notice a small hawk circling the area. It was Littlefoot and he seemed rather energetic. But if Littlefoot was nearby then that had to mean... "Yo!". Sitting on the coarse and burnt earth just a few feet away was George. His devilish grin and playful eyes were directed toward the duo. How long had he been sitting there? Though the duo wouldn't know he had actually been watching the entire time. From the moment they left town until just this second. Regula would know he most likely had been doing so through Littlefoot. But Teihua wouldn't even know who this sudden stranger was.

"When I said put on a show I didn't mean a horror show you know" He chuckled, moving to stand. "Poor Drew. How cold! To ask him to show off after that kind of display. Haha! You truly are the hopeless sort arent you Regula. Its charming in its own way.".

Looking back toward the devastation the blast had caused, George would sigh "Looks like Amanda was right. She said something like that blast might happen what a strange girl. Hah".

Scratching his head George continued "With the defeat of Redhook you should become quite a bit more popular around Kirkwall. That bot has been a menace to this area for three years now. You truly did us a service and proved your devotion as well as strength. That much goes without saying. Plus with the construct helping out, he too should be welcomed a little easier."

Raising his hand George recalled Littlefoot and the bird quickly swooped down to land upon his forearm. At which point both simultaneously looked to Regula. "Looks like I held up my side of the bargain. And with it, you owe me one. Ready to hear my request?"
