Lore [Isekai Hell] Caelia Barony Lore

Caelia Barony
Country of Ryke, Sadek County
B6PkOrt.png

Caelia Barony, is the smallest barony in Sadek County. It is governed by Baroness Regula Caelia.

After purchase of the [Healthy Barony] asset, it now includes the basics:
  • Loyal mayors and leadership over the villages and towns of the Barony that see to the day to day and carry out the will of the baroness.
  • Defence - your walls and defence will be workable. Not the best, but not destroyed or crumbling. Men at arms to use them and defend them as well. Mostly locals trained to be soldiers with some being militia or mercenary forces to supplement, but not much.
  • Money - your fields produce healthy crops, you have skilled artisans like smiths, carpenters and weavers in the domain. You are connected to trade routes that are safe enough for the times and functioning markets to sell Barony production and bring in outside goods.
  • Religious groups sanctioned by Ryke can operate in the area with some degree of security and fellowship.
  • Minimum education is available so nobles can lead, crafters can craft and everyone can understand and know the decrees coming down from the baroness.
  • You have functional roads or routes between settlements in the Barony. Storage places for siege or hard times or general asset management, clean water sources.
  • Enough funds for the occasional festival or local tradition. Local Guilds like merchant, crafters, or adventurers. At least 1 inn or tavern in most settlements.
  • At least one healthy natural resource like your planting fields. Others may need extra work if that Barony wants to expand.
  • Law and order needs to be good enough folk to acknowledge and uphold the decrees of local or baron rules and laws.
  • Healers of some form are present in the Barony. Generally at least one per major village or town.
  • Means of negotiation trades and treaties with neighbours.

Locations:
  • Capital Town Stonewall – population ~600
A walled town in the middle of barony. Known for its keep and for being the general 'hub' of the barony.
  • Village Sootspire – population ~250
A fairly large mining village in the north-east of the barony. Known for its mountain and its tough and large inhabitants.
  • Village/Town Kirkwall – population ~???
A farming village in the south-east of the barony. Known for its Hunters, its advanced agriculture and its odd two-mayor political system.
  • City Ruins/Village Yemaya – population ~100
The ruins for a former city in the north-west of the barony, currently lived in by only a few people. Known for being the location where the Fell Blight happened.
  • More main locations to be added.

Backstory:
She was born and raised in Stonewall, where she learned blacksmithing work from her father Gobán. Her mother died when she was young, but she had two uncles (triplets with her father) to help look after her.

Personality:
Relatively shy and prefers to stay more passive in bigger crowds. Loves to adventure and explore in her free time. When someone gets under her skin too much or gets her to panic, her first instinct tends to be to try hitting them with her trusted hammer.

Interests/RP involvement options:
She likes blacksmithing and would gladly help people learn the basics.

Having another girl to talk with, regarding love affairs, to see how to bring her relationship with Ryan Kylieth to a new level.

Backstory:
An older man who lived most of his life in the barony. He's always tethered between positions of symbolic and actual power and currently functions as the acting mayor of Stonewall.

Personality:
He's known for bing a bit of a schemer, always looking for new intrigue and never shy to voice his opinions. Whilst he's not a bad person, he often gives off the sense that he's plotting something potentially bad.

Interests/RP involvement options:
Listening to the latest news regarding political intrigue whilst enjoying a cup of tea is always a welcome option. He's also eager to voice his opinions on political topics and might give (potentially useful) advice to those that entertain him.

Daughter of Hestia and Berk. Runs the tavern/inn in Stonewall together with her mother, after the latter divorced.

Personality:
She takes after her mother in both looks and personality. Always eager to chat with (paying) customers and giving them her advise to the best of her extend.

Interests/RP involvement options:
A good person to run into after a long day of work, winding down in the tavern, trying some drinks, striking up a conversation about anything or nothing.

Backstory:
Trainee guard in Stonewall. Self-proclaimed 'Guardian of Life' and 'Defender of the Stonewall'. Has some strong defensive ability, but is rather clumsy when attacking.

Personality:
She has an odd, medieval-ish speech pattern and tends to live in her own (fantasy) world. She might've been dropped a little hard on her head as a kid.

Interests/RP involvement options:
Always looking for new challengers to duel with!

Takes a quick liking to those indulging her in her fantasies and odd manner of speech.

If OOC time allows, could be used to practice Effectiveness Rules on both ends (similar as to 'Our Battle Shalt Be Legendary!).

Grew up in the capital, became a soldier and made some promotions until he got promoted to Guard Captain in the barony. Has now held that position for a few years and is still making the most of it.

Personality:
Normally a fairly calm and rational person, can be strict when needed. Not one to rush into things.

Interests/RP involvement options:
With his heart broken by a love he knows he can't attain, he might need some professional advice.

He's also always eager to train new recruits to aid the barony (the go-to person for barony guard/soldier connections).

Backstory:
Blacksmith in Stonewall. Never spoke much, but spoke even less after he lost his hand and stopped speaking almost entirely after he lost one of his wife Works the smithy with his daughter Aileen. Has two triplet brothers (one in Sootspire, one in Kirkwall).

Personality:
He rarely speaks and shows very little emotion.

Interests/RP involvement options:
He might indicate someone walking in to smith something to prove themselves worthy. With his daughter's hand already having been handed out, it's unclear what they'd be worthy of, other than some hints or of seeing the man himself at work.

She's been working the in The Twice Flipped Coin for a few years now.

Personality:
She's extremely business-oriented and 'boring' and 'cold' whilst on the job.
When not working, she's curious, extrovert and a pretty nice person.

Backstory:
Ex-husband of Hestia (owner of Stonewall's Tavern), father of Amika. His wife left him with his daughter due to no longer wanting to live in Sootspire, deeming it too unsafe and being unhappy there. He stayed behind on his own.

Personality:
He likes to be seen as a tough guy and isn't shy about giving off such vibes. Talking about his wife is a very sensitive topic. He does love to roast meats and is amazing at it, which is probably earning him more coin than selling booze.

Interests/RP involvement options:
Might spark up a conversation with those that manage to come across well enough and/or those that appreciate his roasted meats. Sometimes shares some rumours about what's going on in Sootspire. He knows extremely much about everything that's going on around the entirety of Caelia Barony and will keep talking once someone gets him to start.

He worked as a miner in Sootspire, but found his real passion when he joined in with Count Light to slaughter goblins. He especially enjoyed the order to kill the woman and children. Now he mines enough to get by, but spends just as much time trying to look for any remaining goblins to kill.

Personality:
People often smell him before they see him. He's foolish enough not to commit crimes against humans, but eager to get brutally violent against [monsters] whenever he can. He loves to make that clear to just about anyone willing to listen.

Interests/RP involvement options:
Always down to have some folk accompanying him on a goblin hunt. Eager to tell them all about it as well.

Backstory:
Works as a prospector and miner. Is considered extremely talented at his job and ended up being one of the figures with relatively high authority in the village. He worked in other places through-out Ryke as well, but found the most promising place to stay around to be Sootspire.

Personality:
He's insanely strong and likes others that are as well. He doesn't like weak folk. He can be short and grumpy, but has a mostly 'good' heart to him.

Interests/RP involvement options:
He's always willing to teach folk a few mining or prospecting tricks and take them to the mines or mountain. However, his real passion is displays of strength. He's always down to duke it out in a weight lifting match or to provide folk some feedback.

Personality:
Cheerful, eager to chat with new folk after a long day alone in the field.

Interests/RP involvement options:
Occasionally asks adventurers to help her deal with wolves, monsters or bandits that might threaten her flock. Also eager to sell wool, teach some shepherding or hang out in the middle of nowhere.

Backstory:
Triplet brother to Gobán and Bart and a smith. The only one to remain unmarried out of the three of them. He's always working on the equipment for Sootspire's mine and made a fair fortune from it, but doesn't even seem to consider retiring.

Personality:
Values his craft and nieces (Aileen and Cynthia) and not a whole lot else.

Interests/RP involvement options:
He could always use help mass producing items for the mines, as it's relatively easy smithing work that gets boring quickly. He's also willing to show how to refine raw ores in turn.

Prisca
oHQbk5M.jpg

Backstory:
“Many years ago, long before any of you were born, I lived with my with my family in The See, on the border with Ryke. On an unfortunate day, we got captured by slavers, who tried to smuggle us through Ryke and into the East Empire. Their got stopped by my daughter in law, Tisiphone, who managed to free us in this very Barony. However, we learned that the slavers had already killed my son.

For a moment, our rage got the better of us. That day, my daughter in law and I swore we'd make all Humans pay for their crimes. We intended to destroy this village and any other, before we'd eventually be killed ourselves. However, just as we were about to start our slaughter, a tree grew from my sons remains. On it were flowers blooming more beautiful than any we'd ever seen, which soon turned into fruits sweeter than we'd ever tasted. That's when we knew. My son didn't want us to take vengeance against the humans. After all, why would he grow such a beautiful tree on the lands in which he was killed? Looking at the tree calmed us and set us straight. During the many years since then, we've lived here in harmony with one another instead. Today, like so many days before, the tree is once again blooming. A sign of my sons continuing wish for us to live in harmony. I'd like to ask you all, old residents and newcomers alike, to accept its fruits as a sign of our co-existence.”

She is currently the acting mayor of Sootspire. She is the mother of Tisiphone and grandmother of Sherwood and Saffron.

Personality:
For an ancient Fae, she is relatively 'modern' in the sense that she can grasp Humans well. She is mostly known to be a kind old woman with great advise, but can be terrifying to those that threaten the well-being of her people.

Interests/RP involvement options:
She's always willing to hear people out or impart her wisdom on them. She guards the 'Tree of Forgiving' planted on her son's grave, which sometimes grows fruit that is shared as a symbol of friendship. Visitors are often invited to partake and listen to her story. Or to listen to her stories in general. She has a fair few of them.

Featured in:
  • Baroness, Take Flight! – Met the baroness and her party and told them her story at the Tree of Promises.
  • More features to be added.

Tisiphone
xoKjlTP.jpg

Backstory:
She once lived in the See with her mother and (young) children, but her husband was killed by slavers whilst they were taken. She managed to kill the slavers and escape, but was about to go on a Human-murdering rampage when she was stopped by seeing her husband's remains grow a fruit-bearing tree. Still unable to let go of her past, she now wanders the border between Ryke and the East Empire to hunt down slavers, sworn to keep avenging her husband over and over again for as long as her Fae lifespan allows her to do so.

Personality:
She's forgiven humanity as a whole, but still searches out slavers to murder. She knows fully well to stay on the Ryke side of the border and has learned a fair few tricks to avoid criminal titles whilst doing her 'job', yet is still disliked by the East Empire for obvious reasons.

Interests/RP involvement options:
She's always looking for people with a shared ideology, but doesn't respect one easily. She's an extremely strong warrior and might not be eager to hang with those that can't prove themselves to be the same. She'll go to great lengths to free slaves. Sometimes she puts out request to the Adventurers Guild to help with bandits.

Featured in:
  • Baroness, Take Flight! – Briefly met the baroness and her party at the Tree of Promises.
  • More features to be added.

Yemaya
Country of Ryke, Sadek County, Caelia Barony, Village/City Ruins: Yemaya
Still looking for a good image for Yemaya after the Fell Blight and planning to make some sort of map in the future.
a25c8e7ff08ce237d1c3fe229f85a00b.jpg

The remains of what was once a city, Yemaya, now has the population of a small village left living in it.

Featured in:
  • An Interlude Pt. 1 - One of the city's nobles brought a terrible curse, the Fell Blight, down upon the city. It spawned hostile creatures from other realms that endangered everyone and everything. After some battles and relief efforts, the city's balance was still in jeopardy, as many had died or were missing and one of the heroes, Michael ended up a murderer and vandal.
  • Project 10Michael successfully created a project to raise the dead and bring back a lot of the missing, yet this went a little too well, causing the entire Sol County to be split off from Ryke. The city suddenly boomed in population. Ryke was quick to react to it, by executing Count Light, excommunicating Michael, disbanding their Order, chasing out the cultists and quickly appointing new people to fully reincorporate the territory. After all these events, the city eventually got left abandoned by most, some fleeing Ryke along with the cultists, some returning to their homes, some unable to live there due to their homes not having been rebuilt, others still fearing that the Fell Blight lingers and even more people being unable to cope with the death of lord Light and excommunication of Michael.
  • The Postlude – A discussion happening before and after the above mentioned events.
  • Treasure in Ruins – Exploring some ruins in the city to find a treasure supposedly left there by previous nobles.
  • Knightly Duties (Or Something Similar) – Knight Siegfried goes to find and rescue some missing kids.
  • More features to be added.

Associated Locations Images.
  • Small Side-Path – a small path connecting the road from Stonewall to Yemaya and from Stonewall to Sootspire. A great location for flight practice, picnics or herding sheep.
  • Road to Yemaya – the road between Stonewall and Yemaya, mostly goes through grasslands with some smaller patches of forest along the way.
  • Central Street – the ruins of some of the city centre. A hub and meeting place for those that remain in the city.
  • Dungeon Entrance – an impressive entrance to an underground maze, once used by the former nobles as trail ground, now lies mostly abandoned.
  • Treasure Room – a room that was fille with treasure and books on magic, before being discovered and emptied in Treasure in Ruins.
  • Yemaya Hillside – A relatively rough and beautiful landscape north of Yemaya.
  • More locations to be added.
