Roleplay Availability
Roleplay Type(s)
A group of friends meet to playtest a new roleplaying game that has come out. The system is humanocentric. It also favors physical characters over magic. Magic in this system is too slow for use in combat, save for strategic mass melees. And mages gain little experience from combat. So they are generally relegated to the realm of NPC’s.

Note: Some of you may be aware of rules of magic and magic items from tabletop games. Do NOT expect things to work the same here. Bags of holding, for example, work very differently.

Races
Half Elf
Half Orc
Half Drow
Elf-Drow hybrid

Seaborn
Skyborn
Infernal

One might notice that all of these are half breeds. They are all shunned by their parent races. In the case of the Elf-Drow hybrid, they are hunted to death by both their parent races as abominations. The other three races require more explanation.

Elves and Drow are fallen races. They have been torn apart by wars and civil wars. Humans have spead like a plague and have been systematically wiping out non-humans.

Seaborn
Seaborn are half merfolk. They can pass for humans without very careful scrutiny. In addition they have the following abilities:

Amphibious - Breathholding - typically about 4-5 minutes. But they can manage about 10 minutes. Swimming - They can swim at speeds somewhere between those of a professional swimmer and a dolphin 5 mph cruising, 15 mph swimming hard. Can see clearly underwater - without a mask. And able to see in low ambient light conditions. Longevity - They have about twice the lifespan of a human.

Skyborn
Skyborn are half-Aerian. (Aerians look like Angels.) They lack the wings of their non-human parents. However, they have some useful abilities:

Feather Fall (self) at will. They can use a kite to glide similar to Last Airbender. Able to breathe at very high altitudes. Pick One: (10x telescopic vision, Nightvision).

Infernal
Infernals are actually half infernal. Full blood infernals are native to a paraelemental region associated with fire. They are adapted to high temperature conditions to the point that their blood glows with heat. Half infernals appear quite human unless exposed to fire. They come with some interesting abilities.

Immune to normal fire or heat. Able to start a fire or heat water with their fingers under normal circumstances (not starving or in extreme cold). Infravision.

Classes (starting funds)
Barbarian (105 GP)
Warrior (175 GP)
Paladin (175 GP)
Ranger (175 GP)
Rogue (140 GP)
Monk (35 GP)
Cleric (140 GP)
Shaman (70 GP)
Druid (70 GP)

Split Classes are possible. No more than two classes please. A few do not work well together. Rogue-Paladin? That would be a tough one.

Cleric spells are Acts of Faith (miracles). Success depends on your sanctity and that of the recipient. However, the costs to fatigue are minimal.

Shaman magic is primal in nature. It is derived from spirits. Each shaman summons a totem spirit guide.

Druids derive their magic from nature. Elemental magic takes too long for combat unless it takes place at the strategic level (mass melee). Druids may specialize in plant or animal magic.

Note: I am all about ROLEPLAY. Your success will depend on it. This is especially so for Clerics, Shaman, and Druids. Why would a god send a miracle to help a cleric that never spread the faith? Ask not what your diety can do for you, but what you can do for your deity. Shaman, Druids, don’t expect city dwellers to care about primitive faiths. Expect to get chased out of town by organized faiths.

Startup
The characters will start out with their basic gear and the money left over after purchasing it during the character build phase. Each character was given a random amount of funds based on race and class. Then they had to buy their gear. In short, they are “level 1”.

Currency
While most kingdoms have their own currency they also have to trade with other kingdoms. Expect to get charged a nominal percentage just to buy or sell back the local currency. But here is the value breakdown for standards. Each material is 10 the value of the next lower.

Laen
Mithril
Platinum
Gold
Silver
Copper

Coins weigh 1 pound per 50 coins)
Gems, native forms of materials like gold, and relics sculpted from them must be appraised and sold to obtain currency one can spend. It is like selling to a pawn shop. You won’t get the full value.

Starting Gear
Equipment
Ignore all the stuff about hit points and such. We aren’t using dice.

Pantheons
Humans will worship the various ancient pantheons we have on Earth: Norse, Greek, Egyptian, etc. Pureblood non-human races will worship their race specific dieties.

Orc Gods
The Expanded Orc Pantheon

Elf Gods
Elf deities

Drow Gods
Dark Seldarine

Merfolk God
Eadro

The Chryslaen Pantheon
This is a homebrew pantheon that deserves special attention. The half breeds will not be tolerated by the parents’ pantheons. For all intents and purposes they are excommunicated. So they have little choice but to turn to shaman, druids or this pantheon.

Chryslaen - leader/founder of the pantheon. Goddess of the Balance and Survival of the Fittest. Her symbol is a Krys dagger made of purple laen. Her eyes are amethyst hued.

Onauva - Goddess of half elves, Light. Patron of rangers and paladins. Appears as a half elf with hair like the Sun.

Beth - Goddess of Love, Friendship, Diplomacy. Appears as a redhead of great beauty.

Hargoth - Lord of Deals, God of War. Weaponsmith of the gods. Often thought of as evil. However, he is also known to be a devoted father.

Sir Michael - Patron of craftsman, engineers. Patron to Paladins. Also known as the Cursed God.

There are several Lesser Gods as well. Most are offspring of the five above. At least one was originally a mortal who was granted immortality and married one of their daughters (Jinn and F’nor. Their daughter is Soleil.)

There are several major NPCs associated with these gods that can be considered heroes or demigods. Of particular note is Jennifer - a goddess of medicine.

Plot
Initially the goal will be to survive. This will be a typical overland AD&D styled trek. The group can try to fight everything - or avoid it (run away).

Posting
3rd Person, Past Tense
Good content. This is not an RP for one liners or very short posts. I am looking for decent writers.
Be prepared to post 2-3 times per week. I am not sure if we will manage that as the size of the group may limit turn around times for responses.

Blank CS

Bump.

For the record, I thought this was pretty simple - except for perhaps the new pantheon. Also, if the group prefers, I can start them in a village - with limited or partial gear. They could pick up the rest of whatever they can afford as they go.
