The Library of Terra-Gaia

Grand Directive of the 501st Head of the Library of Terra-Gaia:

"Knowledge is a great tool that must be constantly maintained. That has never been more true than in the halls of Terra-Gaia's finest library. We must praise our ancestors for what greatness they had, lest we shortchange ourselves for a lesser and informal version of our past. Each and every event since the dawn of writing has been recorded and stored in these hallowed halls. Many sacrifices were made to not only obtain, but maintain the authenticity of these documents. Many more sacrifices were made to protect these eternal memories from Terra-Gaia's ever changing chaos. Indeed, we, the caretakers of these memories, have suffered much more than most, for many of us have lost our own pasts for the sake of the future's wealth of knowledge. However, as of late, we have let slip our duties of preservation. In our blind thirst for knowledge, we have forgotten how to properly store our newly gained wisdom. Centuries of texts have been lost not to war, disaster, or strife, but to our own carelessness. The many secrets of this immortal location have become secrets to ourselves. It is sad to think that we have amassed such greatness but we can not find the minute without a week's endeavor into the vast archives of this place. We have devised and placed many protections on each and every book, readied ourselves for the worst, and yet can not find all the books pertaining to a single location without running a wild goose chase through an unorganized system. Our predecessors are not blame, for they could not be expected to foresee five hundred and one head librarians and their staff amass such an endless collection. But we can no longer continue as our past has. We must begin an enterprise as daring as the one we have continued to pursue in the past. For the sake of our posterity, as the 501st Head Librarian, I hereby declare the Grand Directive of 501st Staff of the Library of Terra-Gaia to be to turn this Labyrinth of Knowledge into the Realm of Order."

New Guidelines to Turning the "Labyrinth of Knowledge into the Realm of Order"

With a new head librarian comes a new directive. Some have been daring in their efforts, others have been meek in their ambitions, but none is more tasking than the one given to us by the 501st. However dreary or dissatisfying this task may seem, it is a task that must be completed, lest we hand our children a chaotic memory of the world. The following are the goals of the Grand Directive.

  1. Reevaluate the wealth of knowledge that the Library currently possess.
  2. Establish an all encompassing system to categorize this knowledge.
  3. Reorganize and Restore all texts and documents to fit this system.

We realize that this is quite a tall order for our fellow caretakers, so we have come up some ways to help.

  1. Members are to maintain a series of running threads.
  2. Each thread should encompass a topic, such as history, ancient lore, intelligent races, creatures and monsters, places and locations, etc.
  3. The threads can be made separately for each topic or compiled together by multiple members.
  4. There should be a clear and easy to identify format for each thread, although formats between threads can differ to accommodate new unique subjects.
  5. Threads be titled and tagged appropriately.

These are not rules. These are merely the guidelines that we believe will achieve our directive. How you go about it is up to you and your fellow peers to discuss. You have been left with a great deal of freedom in the hopes of recreating the most illustrious collection of our world's knowledge. Use it wisely and create the Realm of Order.

P.S. Leave the Identity Documents in the Terra-Gaia Archives alone. That department already has an efficient organizational system.
