You ever see Big Hero Six? You know San Fransokyo? Shima City is kind of like that. Its people are diverse, like America, but the architecture of the city is also influenced by an East Asian aesthetic. There's a lot of neon lights and shit, and tall buildings. Shima is so big it is its own county, and is divided into five distinct zones.
This story takes place in the modern age, the year is 2016. The technology is identical to our real world technology, but there's one key difference about this reality. Chi energy. Chi, the life force within all people, allows those who discipline themselves to unlock an amazing ability. Chi manifests itself differently in all people, granting many unique abilities that become stronger the more they train.
