Fandom into the upside down (stranger things, interest check)

I know it's been almost a whole year since season three came out, but I've been really craving a Stranger Things roleplay lately. I'm not gonna code this thread, as this is just an interest check and I want to see how much of a response this gets before I really flesh things out. I sort of have two ideas, so I'll list them out below, and you guys can tell me which one sounds better c:
1. The gate to the upside down was never fully closed after season 2 and Hawkins is once again flooded with demogorgons and demodogs. This would probably take place between seasons 2 and 3, so our characters would be finishing up the school year.
2. A group of average teens are, by some freak accident, sucked into the TV show and have taken the place of the beloved characters, but the plot to the show is still the same. It is up to them to save Hawkins and keep the show on track for the next season.
