Fandom Into the fire (1x1 MzHyde/Gallifrog)

Cliff had her priorities in the right place, telling them where the popcorn was and where to look for something good. Though he understood what she was inferring they might have to look for a while to find something that wasn't in Attili, or if it was, that it came with English subtitles. He could more than likely understand most of it, but Kay and Fia certainly couldn't. "Try not to kill each other out there." John smirked. "Can't make you any guarantees, there'll be a few bruises or scrapes mark my words."

Cliff left them, and shortly after that the sound of everybody leaving the apartment could be heard. John had no problems with letting Fia chose, so long as it wasn't romance. " I'll get the good then."

Kay smirked at the comments between John and Cliff. She could only imagine the kinds of scrapes they'd get into. As they heard the others leave, she walked out pulling Fia into her, draping her arm over her. "Come on then. Family movie night it is" she smiled, aiming the comment at both John and Fia. Which made Fia chuckle, knowing Kay didn't realise what she just said was a tradition in her time. They always had family movie night, with everyone, not just the three of them.

She knew John would soon follow on behind and she let Fia then head over to the film's to see if there was anything she'd want to watch. Luckily for John, Fia wasn't the romance kind of girl at all, she much preferred action and horror, and tonight was going to no exception. She fully intended to scare the living crap out of her mother for the laughs by picking the scariest horror she could find.

Movie night for John was him, Elliott and Chas sometimes Trish if she was around, and it consisted of bitching the whole way through it and predicting what was going to happen next. John found the popcorn easily, along with a whole load of other junk food. Despite being a doctor, Cliff always ensured there was enough for a movie night if thirteen people with normal appetites, or the eleven in her group with larger appetites. Having fun was more important in this case, and they'd be well able to burn it off whether in training or living out their daily lives.

He dumped a random selection of things on the table, before grabbing the dark chocolate M&M things for himself. If anyone wanted them they'd have to fight him for it. "Do I still bitch non stop through films in the future?" He asked, a roundabout way of warning that he fully intended to that during this film.

Kay let Fia take over with picking a film, which she found eventually as John came back with the food and putting it on the table. It took her a moment but she soon figured out Cal and Cliff's TV and DVD player set up and put in the film, grabbing the remote, walking to the couch and sitting on the right hand side like she was previously. Kay was sat on the left side which left the middle for John.

"Yup, a habit you don't get rid of at all" Fia confirmed and Kay knew about John's habit anyway from their last TV series watching marathon. When they were all sat down, Fia pressed play on the remote and as she put the remote on the table, she grabbed the popcorn, placing the bucket in her lap. The moment Kay realised it was a horror, she grew suspicious of why Fia chose it but, she never strictly stated she hated horror films. She enjoyed them but she got scared easily. This was going to be very interesting and hilarious to both Fia and John...she just knew it. The film Fia ended up picking was Jeepers Creepers 3. A trilogy that was one of Fia's favourites.

John put his feet up on the table.the edges of the table had various feet shaped indents in them, all corresponding to how Cal's crew would sit. They squeezed three sitting on the couch, one of each armrest and another on the back. The rest pukked up beanbag chair or just slumped it on the floor. He sat between the two of them which seemed to be the designated position. "Why would I? Its far more fun to complain about everything that to watch in silence."

John vaguely recognised the trilogy, but it had been a while since he'd seen any if them. But as the title screen came up, his favourite ranting tangents flooded back to him. He also had a habit of perfectly lip synching the screams from the characters on screen accompanied by the right motions of pretending to be brutally murdered and/or possesed depending on the point. He knew Fia had picked this film to exploit her mother's weakness, but he couldn't care less.

The moment the title came up Kay internally groaned. It was one of the rare horrors that actually would make her cower. She liked the original film a lot, even if certain parts made her feel ill, but the third one always a big nope. The monster in it just really got under skin for some reason in the third installment. Kay just rolled her eyes at John's comment about not stopping his habit. He had a point to a certain extent, she couldn't deny that.

It didn't take long before Kay started to get freaked out. The Jeepers creepers song would haunt her for ages afterwards, she just knew it. Then came the scenes of the monster appearing in the distance and then proceeding to do jump scares that quickly made Kay pull her hoodie up and over her face partially as she peeked out from behind it. Several times she was heard going "nope nope nope.." and she even cowered into John.

It didn't take John long to start taking the piss out of literally everything, particularly random details in the background that you only noticed when watching it for the second or third time. He also spent a high quantity of his time given the running commentary as if it was a David Attenborough nature documentary. If there had been somebody in the room who hated people talking during movies they would have definitly bludgeoned him to death already for being such an arse. Some of the jump scares did get him, the ones he'd forgotten about, but he remembered most of them.

Kay was predictably terrified, any pretence at being able to watch the film without getting terrified wore off within a few minutes and she spent the duration of it cowering behind various objects, pieces of clothing and naturally John.

Fia spent the time munching through the popcorn and just smirking and grinning at the film, at John's commentary and Kay's terrified state. Her eyes were glued to the TV the entire time, she didn't even look away to shovel more popcorn into her mouth. She got caught out on a couple of jump scares, but she just laughed them off. It was obvious how much horror films were her thing.

Kay every now and then would peer out of her hoodie, thinking she could do it, and even though she enjoyed the film's premise, she still was an utter wimp to it. She was like those gamers who played horror games, only always be terrified by them and wonder why they keep going back to them. As the film amped up, she was using hiding behind her hoodie as an excuse to fry her eyes as they pricked with tears of fear from trying to pretend she wasn't scared. She then completely cowered into John and refused to look at the TV screen. Fia glanced over for the briefest of moments and just laughed at Kay. "You're such a pussy mum!" She chuckled.

Even though he was monologuing, John didn't care. He loved a giving a good monolgue, he really got into it, as was evident when he was beating the League back on Earth. Some would say John just loved the sound of his own voice, but that wasn't strictly the case, it was th idea of people being forced to listen to him going on and on and on that appealed to him. He ended up with one arm around Kay who had decided that gluing her face into his side was the best possible option given the situation. John could also see how much Fia was enjoying it, and it made him smile, knowing that if she could go through horror movies and laugh, then she could go through anything.

He didn't notice the time passing, the first Jeepers Creepers movie had been long, but the successive sequels (like with most other movie series) became longer and more outlandish. As the end credits began to roll, the others returned, significantly more tired and sweatier. They all looked worse for wear, scraped hands and forearms in Cal and Cliff's case, a slightly split lip and rusty crusting around Rinaa's nostrils that suggested a nosebleed of some sorts. Jay had an ice pack against the bruises on her side, she was waiting til she got back to the apartment to fix herself up properly. They were all discussing the match, Jay and Rinaa fitting right in with the snarky banter and smirk grins.

Hearing and seeing how much Fia was loving it made Kay realise she definitely picked up her bravery and attitude towards horror movies from John. Which considering what Kay has been though and seen, she shouldn't be scared of the films, but here she was terrified. To say she was glad that the film ended would be an understatement. She pulled her face out of John's side when she heard the door open and the other four walk back in battered and bruised.

"Looks like you had an eventful time" she commented, acting like she didn't just spend the time having her future kid scare the crap out of her with a film. Fia saw how Kay was pretending how she acted never happened and she stupidly tempted to publicly say something but she bit her tongue and kept quiet. Kay hadn't even thought to eat during the whole film, so when she remembered food was still on the table, she grabbed some crisps and ate them. She would have stolen some of John's dark chocolate m&m's but she didn't have a death wish.

The others all could see plain as day that Kay had been hiding from the horror film. But nobody commented on it, there were other things to talk about. "Bout average really- cheating, elbowing people in the ribs, a bit of parkour for flair and the obligatory show off who scores too many points for their own good." Cal replied, dumping her gear bag on the kitchen table. "I'm gonna take that as a compliment" Rinaa smirked, grabbing crisps off the table as she passed. She'd really opened up once she'd got back into the swing of playing. "She was talking about Jay actually, but you're good too kid, that last shot? Pure beauty." "I had no idea it would work, just bolted for the wall, and the flip was for style."

Jay plopped the ice pack on the table, pulling up part of her t-shirt to reveal the scattering of bruises near and below her ribcage. Her healing abilities were limited to bruises, cuts and certain sprains. Hence why Elliott amplified that power in the field. As she ran her hand over the bruises they faded as the tint blood vessels reformed and sealed. In pulling up the shirt, she accidently revealed the mass of scars across her lower back. They were brutal lash marks, some bearing a pattern that could only have come from some kind of barbed whip designed to inflict more pain. Unaware that all seated on the couch had seen this, she pulled the shirt back down and turned to Rinaa. "It had more than style, it transcended style. Speaking of which, I can do something about the lip if you want."

Kay listened as the banter about their activity, smiling as she saw how happy each of them were. It was even nice to see Rinaa out of her shell a little bit and not just being the quiet one. She watched as Jay healed her bruises and by doing so, she noticed like the other two, her scars. She didn't say anything as it was obvious Jay didn't realise they could all see them but she did think what pain Jay must have gone through to endure those.

Whatever Rinaa did, clearly impressed Jay and Cliff, but Kay kept out of it. Fia was similar in reaction to everything going on as Kay was. She noticed the scars, said nothing and just smirked at the group's banter and chat about whatever it was that Rinaa pulled off. She put the empty bowl of popcorn on the table again before sitting back again.

The fact that Jay had the scars depite having some form of healing ability didn't escape John's notice. In his mind it meant either that her ability didn't stretch to large cuts or repeated injury to the same place meant it refused to heal anymore, or that something had been put in the wounds to stop them healing. Regardless of what exactly the reason, she would have gone through extreme pain to get such a volume of scars. Oblivious to the thoughts racing through the others heads Jay began to take care of the split lip Rinaa had, along with making sure the blood vessels in her nose had properly healed up. And while she was at it, she took care of the superficial scrapes on Cliff and Cal.

"Chas is staying in the forge tonight, so he said if anyone wants his room they can take it for tonight only." Cal added, she'd recieve the message a few minutes prior to entering the apartment. "Couch is mine" Rinaa added, knowing she'd only sleep for a few hours before waking up with the urge to work on something or do something else. And since her stuff was in the main room, it made sense to her. Plus the couch was comfier than it had any right to be.

Both and Kay and Fia looked up when Cal said about Chas deciding to stay in the Forge for the night. It didn't surprise Kay all that much all things considered. "I'll be in his room then for tonight" Fia remarked in reply as it was the logical decision. She just figured it's best to not step on anyone's toes metaphorically speaking, and especially not Rinaa's. They may have talked through things earlier but she didn't want to overstep anywhere still. She also enjoyed her alone time.

Kay just nodded at Fia's reply, she had a feeling it's be Fia who would take Chas' room for the night. She was also a lot more relaxed by this point compared to during the film, as she grabbed another handful of crisps before sitting back again in John's arm. She remained silent as there wasn't anything that warranted her to speak up about.

That left Jay with sleeping on the beanbag chair again, which she had no qualms whatsoever with. She had been sleeping on the couch or a hammock at the base at A.J's for the past few years she'd been on Earth, with brief periods where she vanished off the radar for a while to go abroad somewhere. And even on the ship she'd slept in the pilots chair. She was used to not sleeping in a bed. "Seems like he finally got sick of our shit and wants to get as far away as possible" John smirked from his spot. "Yup, those were his exact words." Cal retorted back.

Rinaa took up position at the kitchen table, spreading out a variety of textbooks and notebooks she'd acquired second hand, pulled out headphones and began catching up on what she had missed and reminding herself of what she might have forgotten. Jay did her own thing with her computer, coding and typing away. The two had worked for hours like that in the future, and easily fell into a rhythmn. Cal and Cliff became the first to tap out, retreating to the mezzanine to watch something together.

Kay smirked at John guessing currently what Chas must have been thinking when he decided to stay at the forge for the night. She didn't blame Chas for wanting time away from the lot of them, it had been another crazy day for them all. Seeing that Jay and Rinaa were situating themselves to the computers so they could work, and Cal and Cliff had tapped out for the evening, she figured it was as a good time as any to go to bed.

"Guess we should tap out too" she commented, sitting up. "Which room is Chas'?" Fia asked, "opposite ours" Kay replied. "Gotcha, I'm gonna go to bed then" Fia remarked, getting up and picking up her bag, heading to the room Chas had taken. In the room, she chucked her bag on the floor and crashed out on the bed, looking through photos on her phone. Kay stood up, glancing down at John. "Coming?" She asked, before starting to head to the room, waiting for him to begin with.

"Yeah, I am." He replied pulling himself out of the very comfortable position on the couch, not caring about the pile of trash left behind on the table. "See yis then" was Jay's comment to that as they all began to disperse. Rinaa didn't really pay any attention to them, she was already working hard, her foot tapping in time to whatever she was listening to. It was going to be a long night for both of them, both working for as long as possible, before one or the other crashed out. The center lights had been turned off for the movie and Jay and Rinaa were keeping them that way, using the spot lighting and lamps to see by.

John followed Kay into the room they shared, performing his usual habit of carefully hanging up the trenchcoat on a hook on the back door, chucking his shoes, shirt and tie wherever and falling backwards onto the bed. He decided not to tempt fate by wondering how things could get any crazier.

"see ya Jay" Kay replied, heading into the bedroom, she took her hoodie off and put it on the back of the door next to John's coat and her jacket, before taking off her shorts and vest and getting into bed beside him. Laying in her usual position of on her side and cuddled into John. She didn't want to tempt fate either by mentioning how crazy the day had gotten and it couldn't possibly get any crazier, as it seemed every night they did talk about it, it got even crazier.

She still couldn't help but think that there had be more of a reason as to why Fia wanted to stay with them for a while, and wondered if that came up with her chat with Rinaa. She debated if she should ask Rinaa about it in the morning or not or just to keep out of Fia's business. She mentally shook the thoughts from her mind and made herself just not think about anything that would stress herself out. "Really hope tomorrow is less crazy" she commented.

"I think we all do, it's getting pretty ridiculous at this stage." He agreed with Kay's statement, wondering what exactly a 'normal' day was like on Attil. He had half a mind to go up somewhere remote in the mountains and stay there away from anything that could happen. Though knowing his luck there would be a celebration that happened only once a year taking place which involved going to that exact spot. "You know I think Elliott got off the easiest out of all of us." He added, before explain his rationale, which was hlaf a joke more than it was serious.

"He can actually get away from it all, even if it is to a prison cell." When he was broken out the next day there was going to be even more explaining to do, with each of them no doubt having their own version of everything. So far Elliott only knew of Rinaa's hurt and anger at Fia's presence and that they'd been time travelling. He'd probably been languishing in the cell wondering what happened, particularly to Jay. Which reminded him, he had the photos on his phone to use for blackmail.

She listened to what he said and she had to agree, it really was getting ridiculous and like John, she did think Elliott probably had it easiest out of them all and like him, if she could fall back to her old habit of just running away from it all, she no doubt would. Yet knowing her she'd get hopeless lost and fall over or off something and accidentally kill herself and unborn Fia before coming back to life again. She was certainly clumsy enough to have that happen to her at times.

"Agreed. He probably does have it easiest, though he's probably wondering what has been going on too" she replied to him. She yawned and traced her fingertips over his collarbone which had become a habit, just like how she traced over his tattoos. She just found it relaxing to do and she never came across him complaining about it.

"Cal probably has that figured out.... though I think she'd definitly leave him guessing for a few hours to wind him up because that's what siblings have to do according to this unwritten rule." John replied smirking slightly at the messages he could imagine Elliott sending trying to glean some kind of information about what was going on, and when Cal did respond it was all along the lines of "didn't get your messages cos the phone was in the forge, total dead signal zone. They all got back hours ago."

He had to make a conscious effort not to make some form of embrassing sighing noise when Kay starting tracing the lines of his collarbone. Instead he took out his phone and distracted himself by changing the contact picture of Elliott to the one he took earlier after Jay briefly kissed him. He managed to look utterly gormless, shocked and embarrassed all at once, and it made John laugh seeing it again. The old photo was Elliott with dead jellyfish over his hair.

"oh no doubt about that. It's definitely a sibling thing" she replied back smiling, finding it very easy to imagine Cal leaving Elliott waiting for ages before saying something. Like John said, it seemed to be the unwritten rule of siblings to do as she remembered the many a time Sam did to her and vise versa. Her to Sam more than the other way round. When Kay wanted to be, she could be a right little shit to people and family were no exception.

She noticed just from his body language how her tracing seemed to be just as relaxing go him, as it was her, even if he did force himself to stop sighing from the action. She gazed up and noticed him change his phone contact picture and smiled at the photo, having almost forgotten he even managed to take that. "That pic will never not be amusing" she commented. Seeing him allocate pictures to contacts made her realise she hadn't even done any of that on her phone, mostly because she hadn't really gotten any photos on it, only of the skies in the morning that she took. She thought she would make ab effort to get photos of the people she cares about on her phone at some point.

"Nope, it really won't." He smirked in agreement, taking it in again, how Elliott had managed to fit so many expressions on his face was beyond him. If that was how he was going to react all the time, then it was going to be an amusing few months before he got his emotions under control. He didn't have Jay's number, though it came pre programmed in on the phone A.J's gang had gifted her with. If he did, he would have seriously considered sending it to her, John could imagine Jay would find some use for it, more than likely to annoy Elliott with.

"He'll get me back at some point or another with one of me looking equally stupid or in a ridiculous position like being impaled on a cactus or something." That hadn't happened to him yet, but it was on the bucket list. Most of John's contacts had no photos and were accompanied by a 'IF THIS NUMBER RINGS GET A NEW PHONE, IT'S THE BLOODY LEAGUE!!!!!!!" notice. Their phone numbers were only there as a warning, he never actually used them. There were very few with profile photos, and they weren't necessarily of them- Chas, Trish, Renee, Elliott, Sheryl, Bruce, Zed, Detective Corrigan and the joke profile of 'Chas's TARDIS accompanied by a picture of Chas' cab. " Chas has a particularly dreadful one of me, from back yonks ago."

Kay smiled, if John had expressed a temptation to send the photo to Jay, she would have gladly given him her number, as Kay had it in her phone. When he said about Elliott getting his own back, she didn't doubt that at all. "Oh for sure he will. He'll wait until the perfect time and then strike. He's a devious sod like that" she replied with a smirk. As he said about Chas having a particularly bad photo of him, she instantly wanted to see it, so she made a mental note to ask Chas to show her. "You realise you shouldn't have told me that right? Because now I wanna see it" she chuckled.

Swiftly after saying that, she took his phone out of his grip and clicked for the camera. "well..either way I always say, for every bad picture you need a good one" she told him. "So we'll take a good photo together" she grinned. She proceeded to just adjust her position and put the camera on selfie mode, looking at the camera she took a photo of the two of them together. She didn't even care she was only in her underwear in bed this time. She then instantly sent it to herself so she had a copy, after that she let him have his phone back. "Now you got one for my contact photo" she smirked.

John just rolled his eyes that was partially why he said it. Though it was one of the worst photos of him ever taken, Chas had mulriple copies of it saved, so no matter how hard John tried, it was still out there somewhere. "Well Elliott did learn from the best of us." He replied. Himself and Chas were always hoarding stupid photos of the other, they'd done it since they were teenagers and John discovered alcohol. It was only natural that Elliott copied them on that.

When Kay grabbed the phone from his hands, he went to protest but didn't bother. At least it hadn't been the uther phone, the one that contained a demon with some seriously questionable tastes in porn and a search history that nobody should see. "It doesn't work like that at all, you maths is clearly flawed." He ended up scowling and crossing his eyes in the photo. He was going to crop himself out anyway, he'd never understood the need to put multiple people in a profile picture unless it was for a group chat. He put the phone away on the table next to the bed.
