Quiet. Cold. Save for the rain pitter-pattering on the other side of the window, the library was chillingly silent. Hanzo had studied through the storm warnings and now he was paying for it; he had to walk home in wet weather. It was a good thing he came prepared, though. An umbrella always proved handy. Opening the contraption and stepping outside, he found himself hit with the smell of wet dog and freshly mowed grass. Many loved that his campus allowed pets but nobody liked the smell when it rained. Regardless, he had little choice but to head home. Hanzo had a test tomorrow and needed his history textbook to study - something he had unwittingly left behind in his two-person dorm room.

His dorm room which reside on the complete other side of campus.

Hanzo had two routes to choose from: One, the main campus walkway which was often crowded even during poor weather because it cut through the quad where many students gathered on a daily; and two, a shorter and significantly less populated route between buildings where the more rebellious students liked to smoke before class. Whichever one he chose, he'd have to decide soon. The storm was predicted to only get worse, yet it was unlikely even lightning would faze the daring students of this prestigious high school.

- Take the walkway
- Go through the alley

Hanzo took in a deep breath and decided that he'd navigate himself down the entrance of the alleyway. In his mind, it was better than being around the other student like prattling. It wasn't that Han hated any of the other students it was just the noise, or perhaps the idea of zoning in on another's conversation without meaning too. That very idea made the twenty-year-old cringe as he thought of the prospect of learning something he didn't wish too. Nevertheless, he took to the elongated pathway that was more than likely littered with degenerates. People Hanzo would merely close his eyes too, and huff at their bad decisions. Nimbly he would brush his thumb over the metal pole of the umbrella, spinning it elegantly as he took shorter steps. For someone who was constantly astute, and focused in on how he appeared to the rest of the world he seemingly didn't care much for how he walked. Always a stroll, and never a fast-paced sprint.

The smell of cigarette smoke cut through that of the rain. Sure enough, several students loitered between the two buildings. Some were caught in quiet conversation while others stood alone below short overhangs that didn't quite extend their protection to Hanzo. Nearby, a girl with white hair made eye contact.

A song slowly grew in volume. Some sort of electronic dance mix one would find at clubs, but softer... not quite something one would dance energetically to. At first it sounded like it came from her headphones but, as it became louder and louder, the sound seemed to encompass everything around Hanzo. His step, his every breath, the sound of the rain falling from above.

The girl smiled and Hanzo's world spun into darkness.

He woke standing in a city of lights. Amidst a wide median, Hanzo could see cars zipping by on either side of him. They didn't look to have wheels - but that would mean they were floating. Floating cars hadn't been invented yet. The song he'd heard in the campus alleyway was quieter now, as if playing through faraway speakers overhead, not unlike the background music of a mall.

In front of him stood a hooded figure with an odd glowing screen in place of eyes. A thick cord ran from behind the figure, down its slim leg, and across the shiny metal floor into a hole in the ground.

"Welcome to Idylland," the figure's voice was robotic, androgynous. It held out a card. "Please retrieve your Identification Key and exit the line." Nobody stood behind him.

- Ask a question

Hanzo would find himself a bit mildly perturbed at the smell of cigarettes, he thought to himself "There are designated districts for these sorts of activities...." With that, his eyes would indeed catch the gaze of the girl. Momentarily his attention would shift to how white her hair was. Though, not wanting to be Rude Han's eyes would dart back down to meet her's, and just as he thought to give a smile, and wave. His vision would skew, and he'd find himself in the middle of that street. Frantically breathing at the mild episode he'd look around confused, and shocked at what he saw. "Where am I..-" That thought would be cut short though as the automaton spoke. "Identification card?" he stood there baffled a moment, but after a while, he'd resign to his assumed hallucination, and stride forward to retrieve the card.

Up close, Hanzo would find the figure to be a stationary robot. The moment his fingers touched the card a yellow beam shot from the robot's eyes and scanned him up and down. It lingered on the nametag of his school uniform. After a moment, the robot released the card.

"Hanzo Saski. Male. Five-hundred and twenty years old," the card in his hand spoke and chirped like a cell-phone notification as the information filled out right before his eyes in tiny, digital font. A full-body image of him was transcribed to the front. "Information download complete." A small knife and fork icon appeared in the bottom left corner, blinking yellow. "Nutrients required soon for optimal bodily function." It had been several hours since Hanzo ate but he didn't have to take the card's advice. It was, after all, just a card. Perhaps the entire thing was a figment of his imagination.
