Fantasy Internet Identity

Deadly Darkness

All things lost in the shadows
The internet has always been a place of freedom; be whoever you want to be and do whatever you want to do (within reason). Though one of your favorite websites has taken that up a level. All users of the social, adventure website are somehow able to transport within the digital realm, becoming their characters. So who will you be? What happens if you meet someone outside of the virtual reality and you aren't who you claimed you were? Make friends, be who you've always wanted to be, start trouble, but most importantly: have fun!

With her book bag slung over her shoulder, Harriet walked back towards her quaint, little house. So far senior year was turning out to be a drag, but luckily she had her escape... literally. Recently her favorite MMORPG had taken an unexpected turn. She was suddenly able to go in the game. She looked exactly like her character, Casie Blackblood, with a flirtacious smile and killer legs. Honestly she couldn't tell if she was hallucinating or not; all she knew is that it made life seem easier.

Once her house was in sight a large smile splayed on her face as she ran to the front door. Fumbling with her keys a bit she managed to unlock and open the door. She dumped her bag on the couch and ran up the stairs, earning a shout from her mom on how she left the door open. She shouted back an apology before entering her room. On the now closed door hung a piece of paper with the words, "No Interrupting! I'm Gaming!" scribbled on with black sharpie. She smiled at the familiar sound of her computer booting up. Harriet quickly brought up the website, logged in, and waited to be transported to her paradise.

She honestly didn't know how she got there; it was like blinking, one moment you're sitting in front of your computer watching the loading symbol, and then the next you were there wherever you had last left off.

Dante had just woken up hearing a door slam in the house next door, he rolled out of bed and stumbled over to his computer and logged on to the MMORPG he had tested before it was released

"Back to work"

He yawned, The Crooked Man appeared in the hub town

"Alright let's check out the mountains today"

Casie smiled, looking at the familiar local village. Elves, fairies, and mixture of other species circulated throughout the shopping district. Artisans, mercenaries, and all other forms of trades offered multiple products and services. She began along the dirt paths.

(Oh my god that's so adorable!!! I wanna rub the kitty's tummy!)

The Crooked man looked back and saw Casie

"It's that player again, I think I mess with her"

He said to himself then waved his hand and made the ground in front of her raise up making her trip

@Deadly Darkness

Her foot suddenly caught on the ground, sending her forward. With quick thinking and a smile she propped her hands out in front of her and kicked one leg after the other in a smooth flip. Once back on her feet she looked for the source of what tripped her. Obviously it had been someone, considering it was a dirt path. Her eyes settled on a cloaked figure. A small smile pulled at the corner of her lip.

(Sorry, got called in)

The Crooked man smirked then walked towards Casie, he waved his hand again and the ground wrapped around her ankles then lifted her up having her hang upside down

She looked down to see stone shackles form around her feet. Suddenly she whisked up into the air, now hanging upside down. Her arms folded in front her chest as she looked at the man. "Such an interesting point of view, you should really try it some time." Casie said sarcastically.

"That's rather rude don't you think?" Suddenly all light was sucked away from the man's surroundings, blinding him. With a powerful kick she broke the stone and landed down on all four. She stood up and took back what belonged to her. "Thank you for the entertainment, but I really should be going now." She snapped her fingers, returning the light to his area.

She growled in frustration as she threw them to the ground and quickly turned them into dust beneath her feet. "If I ever see his face again." With a sigh Casie continued through the district, headed towards the forest.

The dirt path faded as grass began poking up. Eventually grass overtook the ground as well as flowers and trees. With the mass quantity of trees the light faded into complete darkness, small lighting bugs lighting up small areas like stars.

The crooked man gathered up his stolen loot he ventured out into the forest trying to avoid Casie as he made his way to the black market hidden deep in the forest

Casie grumbled quietly at the loss of her items. "So many hours of raiding down the drain." The serene area wore away at her anger, slowly calming her. The peaceful sounds of the wind rustling the leaves and the soft chirps of insects echoed through out the forest.

The crooked man snuck past Casie but stopped and watched her from the shadows, he looked at the bag of stuff he stole from her and sighed

"Damn it I hate being a nice guy"

He said to himself then threw the bag at Casie

@Deadly Darkness

All of a sudden Casie was on the ground. Her head throbbed as she pieced together what happened in those few short seconds. A bag was thrown, it hit her in the head, and now she was on the ground. She sighed, absolutely livid. "What the hell?" She growled as she looked at the bag. Carefully she opened it, and to her surprise it was her stuff. Though it didn't lessen her anger at being blind sided and knocked to the ground.

"I highly doubt that." She grabbed a hold of his cloak as it hit her face. She yanked on it, aiming to pull him to the ground.

"Your attitude says otherwise," she picked up her belongings and tossed the sack back at the man. "Thank you," she said, though she didn't sound thankful in the slightest.

(Sorry, family decided to test the circuit breakers today.)
