Bandi Physiology

All Bandi are bonded permanently to their Soulcage. Attempts to remove it will kill them. When breached, they do bleed but also vent some raw Magic. In terms of their internal sensorium, they perceive their body within the armour about as much as you or I perceive our organs; the 'cage feels approximate to skin and muscle, for them.

Bandi Sensorium

Bandi primarily perceive the world through a combination of unique traits associated with their Soulcage, and a standardized synaesthetic AR interface. They have precise kinaesthetic feedback which can extend through their weapons, making them an extension of their body. They have a much greater visible range than baseline humans, enhanced hearing, a pseudo-olfactory chemical detection and analysis function, and various other detection tools like radiation tracking. They often perceive these things as colour, physical sensations, or instinctual functions (they detect proximity to antiMagic effects as increasing nausea, for example).

Bandi do not communicate with speech - instead, Bandi within a certain proximity have a direct telepathic link through which they rapidly commune with streams of images and feelings. This will make it impossible for Bandi to communicate directly with other entities until they find a means of doing so.

Bandi Magics

All Bandi use a resource called Mana to power their abilities. Initially, a Soulcage can manage 10 Mana's worth of effects, but this may grow over time.
There are some simple applications of this power common to all Bandi.

AURA: The Bandi may commit Mana to generate an area effect centered on themselves which buffs allies, debuffs enemies, or deals damage. Each 1 Mana committed extends the range by one metre. The basic effect is either 2Con/Round in damage, +1 Die or similar effect while active, or -1 Die or similar effect while active. The Bandi can choose to spend Mana to empower rather than extend the Aura, with each point adding 2Con/Round, and ever 2 adding another die modifier. For example, a Bandi may choose to spend 2 Mana creating a 2 Metre radius Aura, then add 3 to increase the damage to 6Con/Round, leaving them with 5 Mana for other uses.
Committed Mana reduces the maximum Mana available, however.

BOLT: A simple display of force; the Bandi spends Mana at a cost of 1:2 Condition and unleashes a destructive pulse of the appropriate kind at a single target. Any secondary effects of the energy used (Vala's fire, for example) are applied logically. Bandi can choose to increase the effects of these secondary impacts rather than adding more raw harm.

BLAST: Like Bolt, in this case the Mana to Damage ratio is 1:1, but the Bandi devastates a larger area with the effect, striking multiple enemies or causing environmental damage. Use with caution on spacecraft.

CRAFT: Bandi can infuse devices they create with Mana. The costs and effects are decided on a case-by-case basis, but typically an object can only withstand so much Mana.

Each Bandi will have personalized, creative uses of their power unique both to their model of 'cage and the Bandi themselves. Jadugara, for example, can raise the corpses of enemies to fight on, or manipulate their spirits. Separa can engineer and unleash finely tuned biological weapons. Prem can brainwash foes, and easily interface any computer system based on Magi technology.

Unarmed Styles

Defiant Fist Style
Linked Skills: Unarmed, Defense/Block, Athletics.

Defiant Fist Stance
The Bandi adds their ranks in Defiant Fist Style to their unarmed attacks as Penetration. Any attack immediately following a block gains +1 damage.

First Technique: Unchained Fury
The Bandi can close the gap to strike without spending Combat Pool. The first attack delivered this way gains +1 damage.


Second Technique: Kampa’s Denial
The Bandi may delay their attack to the end of the Round, gaining +2 Defense value in the interim.


Third Technique: Avenged Eightfold
The Bandi may choose to attack in place of Blocking; if successful they deal Strength + Successes + half of the damage they have just taken to the target.


Master Technique: Tyrant Sundering Strike
A Called Shot to the heart, head, or analogous point of the enemy which deals double damage, but reduces Defense by 2.


Gentle Palm Style
Linked Skills: Unarmed, Defense/Evasion, Athletics

Gentle Palm Stance

The Bandi gains +1 die to any attack following a successful Dodge and eliminates the penalty on Disarm Actions.


First Technique: Unbroken Flow
The Bandi gains an additional attack action for every successful Dodge, up to double their Dexterity. They add +2 to their Dodge value.


Second Technique: Shattering Reflections
The Bandi may choose to redirect a Dodged attack towards another enemy or environmental hazard, adding +2 damage.


Third Technique: Stream Cuts Stone Method
An attack which ignores Soak, but can only deal the Bandi’s Strength in damage.


Master Technique: Serenity
The Bandi may choose to redirect an attack at the originator following a successful Disarm.


Constricting Serpent Style
Linked Skills: Unarmed, Defense/Parry, Athletics

Constricting Serpent Stance
The Bandi adds +2 to their Parry value and counts Strength at +1 when initiating a Grapple.

First Technique: Serpent Is
The Bandi only loses half the dice, rounded down, from an opponent struggling to break a Grapple.


Second Technique: Inspiration of Mercy
The Bandi gains +2 Parry when using a Grapple victim as a human shield.


Third Technique: Crushing Embrace
The Bandi ignores all Soak when damaging a victim in a Grapple

Master Technique: Demon-Serpent's Infinite Coils
The Bandi may Grapple as many targets simultaneously as she has limbs.
