It is hard not to. It replays in front of your eyes everytime they flicker closed, fighting for sleep in a city that barely knows it. A young couple, burned to death in their mansion - along with their young son, smiling from family portraits now left to collect dust. It might have been a year, but it feels like much less since their bodies were found - all together, almost rendered unrecognisable. It shook the city to the core and for the first time in years, you and your family were not the most dangerous people in town.
The death of Louisa and Andrej was a murder. You know that much.
And the thing is, it won't be the last.

Hi, hello and welcome to a small recruitment thread for In Dynastia, a roleplay I started a while ago! Focused on drama, interpersonal relationships and some old fashioned murder mysteries, it's a story that follows two crime families - the Adamski and Avancini - as they try to keep the ground beneath their feet, even when it becomes increasingly obvious that somebody is out to get them. I won't write the entirety of the plot and lore here, as it would get too long, but this is the original thread that explains everything! This roleplay has already started, but as a few people left, I'd like to bring in a few more characters to fill the gap.
I know plots that already started are pretty intimidating, but thankfully, we didn't get too far yet and we will make sure to catch you up on everything you need to know, plus to include your character once they will be thrown in. I'm excited to hopefully get in a few more people and get this plot off the ground again! One thing to keep in mind; please read the lore, role and rules on the original thread, as they will all apply for this interest check too. If you are confused about anything, feel free to ask any questions you have.
Also, note; most roles on the original thread are taken, with the exception of a few. Only the roles I will have written here are the ones we are looking for! c: However, if you have any ideas for a character that do not fit these roles, let me know and we can work something out.

the lover of the emperor and a soldier. a fairly new face on the scene, the wheel of fortune has nonetheless risen up on the rank ladder fairly quickly - so fast, in fact, it made people raise an eyebrow. how does a newbie member, one that came out of nowhere with nary a connection, suddenly walk in the emperor's inner circle? the expensive gifts, uptown apartments and shared glances added up to a worrying picture - the wheel of fortune, a true nobody, has the boss wrapped around their little finger. an open secret, the wheel of fortune is a formidable enemy; you do not need to be stronger than your enemies. you just need to be smarter.

a soldier of the family, one that was raised close with the emperor's inner circle. they're a member of the family in everything that counts - name, paperwork, teasing and affectionate care under which they have grown up under. for most of the adamski, they are like any other; family that does their work as best as they can, proving to be a loyal and valuable asset. they're living proof that hard work truly does pay off, if the power they have gained so far is any proof. after all, they have come far from a star-crossed babe, found crying in their parents blood. it happens, now and then, that adamski die and leave their children behind.
nobody thought to tell temperance of their true origins - as the child of an avancini couple, one murdered during a particularily terrible feud. it's a secret that could lead to a shakespearean levels of tragedy, if it ever were to get out. after all, how loyal can you be to a family that has lied to you your whole life?

there used to be a different boss of the family, once.
murder of your own relatives is nothing new and it's a long standing tradition for the adamski. ten of swords was raised on that, being told of great aunts poisoning their husbands and great uncles killing their fathers. if it was good enough for the ancient greeks, it's good enough for the crime family and it's a vicious cycle they were forced to witness far too young. their father was the previous boss, before the emperor - perhaps some might say his rule was overly cruel, but he was their father and the throne was theirs to inherit.

ten of swords, barely more than a child, might not have laid witness to the emperor's men laying waste to their home; but they certainly saw their father's grave and the emperor now where once he stood, at the head of the family. due to their young age, they were not involved in the murder and were spared the threat of death, though some of their close relatives might not say the same. all grown up now, the ten of swords has been fully included in the modern adamski family; one of the last remaining members of the previous age when another ruled the city. rumors have it, ten of swords never forgave what happened - though, well, what would be rumors if there was not some truth in them?
justice
avancini
a lawyer-criminal representing the avancini family, making sure all is forgiven in the courts of law - and making sure nobody catches wind of their crime for it to even come to that point. charming, well-spoken and a social chameleon that could make you doubt about things as basic as your name, justice might not seem as dangerous as the rest at first glance. after all, they don't sport guns or muscles or knives, only expensive suits and a bright smile. the first mistake their enemies make is think justice is only a shallowly attractive debater, one that should be a politician rather than a gangster.
it's usually the last mistake they make. they probably should have looked up on their long-standing record of murders and cases of bodily harm being dismissed.

avancini
a family associate and local trust fund kid, one that has been raised in the avancini business for as long as they could walk and talk. you know the deal - scandalously rich heir, being raised in a dangerous world that would like to see them dead, all while they do terrible and morally ambigious things to others in the elite, private schools they were raised in. typical shark in a city filled with them. though, worse for everybody else, strength happens to be the smartest, meanest and the most ambitious of them all.
they'll eat their enemies alive and pick their teeth with the bones, all while wearing this year's newest prada.
for better or worse, they're a constant presence in the avancini headquarters. they were raised alongside the members and while some might complain about their nose being where it doesn't belong, strength is a part of the family. even if sometimes they might seem like a tyrannical little cousin.
the moon
avancini
a soldier, working directly under the avancini lover and death, the moon is a rather new presence in the family - and not a willing one. cunning, broody and quiet when they need to be, the moon is mysterious in both past and abilities. there's plently of circulation of who they were before they appeared one day, in tow with the too smug smile of strength. they are not a secret assassin, nor a goverment spy here to disassemble the avancini from within, though neither rumors are too far off. once a loyal member of the lorenzos - a crime family known for the love of violence and dramatics alike - they've fallen into a tricky debt with strength.
it is not easy, when your parents are poor. it is even harder when your parents are poor and sick, with nobody to pay for their treatment.
the moon is smart and with poisonous words to spare, but that will only take them so far when there are others relying on them. that is how people get crushed in this city, and the moon will be damned before they let anybody rule over them for too long.
