Queen of SHIIIPS
It was exactly one month after the attack of Relandra, the murders of the King and Queen, and since Malice took the throne. Things weren't any better. Many walked on egg shells, others calmed down, especially the nobles and wealthy citizens, whom Malice seemed to favor, though he was still cruel and cold. Tonight would be better, it was a "celebration" after all.

On in this night, Malice himself hosted an event. In the palace of Relandra, a beautiful ball was being held, to celebrate the new King, though many were not celebrating. All the dukes and duchesses, lords and ladies, nobles and wealths were "invited" from all five kingdoms. And who could refuse King Malice?

Guests danced in the beautiful ballroom, where musicians played  a beautiful orchestra on one side of the room, in a corner. A dessert table on another side of the room, with cakes and pastries of all sorts, dough balls, cream buns, chocolate rolls, etc. Ladies in corseted dresses some only dreamed of, dressed in bright silks and chiffons billowing with each step. They spun and twirled, their partners dressed in black and white, taking their hands and sweeping them into dance as they spun and twirled to the orchestra. It was quite lively, mainly due to the circumstances that Malice was unable to attend, some rumors of rebellion in Dwalip that he himself had to "take care of." Even palace workers were allowed to attended, including the tutor, the caretaker, and head of the royal guard. Although servants and guards were still on duty, guards stood at random places in the palace, watching silently, or joking around in a group, able to relax without Malice. Servants frantically rushed around, formally dressed, but serving those that sat out dances, occasionally refilling the dessert table, etc.

The trees arranged in the corner of ballroom, had left an empty pie-bit sort of space, now filled with all eleven siblings. All eleven of them, crowded about together, hidden, pressed between the trees and the wall. A pair of yellow-green eyes watched the dancers through the ribbon and silver-decked pine leaves.

It was tradition. All twelve siblings always watched every ball. Last year, when another type of ball was held, all twelve had huddled outside in the bushes, watching through the paned window, huddled for warmth. None of them were of age to attend balls, and were not allowed in. Now, the eldest was able to attend the ball, and Bramble, and the eleven other siblings had snuck into the ballroom at tea time. Malice had ordered them stay inside and have locked them in their room, but Bramble had of course, broken them out.

"It's not so bad now that we can't feel our legs." Bramble grinned, her lips turning into a wry smile. "It's a bit squashy but it's worth it." Bramble spoke to her siblings, her yellow green eyes filled with a delight, along with a glint of mischief.

Elisa Harcourt

Elisa twisted and turned huddled with siblings. She loved the people of the kingdom don't get her wrong, but she hated that they were here in fear rather than in choice. Her gaze barely left the floor for quite some time before she finally looked up and spoke "What is worth it though Bramble. Not as if anyone would even look at us.." She didn't mean it of-course. But it had been so long in her head since the death of her parents, she couldn't shake the feeling that the Royals were just as hated as Malice was, were they cowards for standing idle?

It was cold outside and her toes felt as if they were going to fall off, it gave the opportunity to give her an excuse to leave if she wanted too. "Can't we just you know, go? I mean, Malice isn't here is he.." Elisa tried to say, it was more of a quivered mumble rather than an actual question, it was rare Elisa would directly disobey Malice to the point where he would more than likely find out, but she couldn't stand the sight of it.

Rose sighed in resignation, dressed in a white formal dress and heels with her hair curled and pinned up on the side with a moonstone flower hairpin, making her look graceful. She watched the guests dance around and the staff relaxing without their...king...here. She couldn't find the children, including the young ones who she was supposed to take care for and she's disappointed in herself. Though she left the children alone...just this once.

It's a ball after all and with the king gone, of course the royal children will run away and hide somewhere. She understood that...but she still wished to know where they are in case the king came back and she could warn them to go back to their rooms.

After talking a bit with some of the other guests, Rose excused herself and walked away, wanting a bit of fresh air. She had enough with the somewhat stifled atmosphere and needed to get away. Walking quietly, the red head stopped by the front gardens of the palace and tried to relax. Her thoughts wondered towards the head guard, her close friend, and tried to think of any reason as to why...why would he pledge loyalty to...to Malice?

She sighed again, now staring at the moon absentmindedly.

Ben never really liked parties such as these. They were always too fancy for his taste, all these people waltzing around with their rich clothes and rich gems and rich foods and rich drinks and rich air and all this wealthy stuff he could barley afford. He had spent a small fortune on buying a house for his family only to find them dead, and the house burned to the ground when he came back. So he was working his way up from nothing, though the KIND Malice gave him his own room. How great! Replace the house I bought your Majesty? Here's a room in the palace! It was nice but shit he didn't get much else! He was still struggling to afford his ingredients which Malice never gave for free...though he did offer discounts.

Anyway, his upbringing never prepared him for such parties, where people expected you to remember all twenty of their names and titles and who they liked and disliked and yata yata blah blah. He was technically above a servant, and was able to do what he wanted here, however he had a rather unimpressive job title to give, Alchemist. Sure it was nice but how could he relate to these socialites and dukes and barons and earls. They couldn't understand what he did, few were smart enough, and he didn't drink very much as it were. So he just wandered around trying to fit in, and when that came to a crashing failure he just went around looking for something to entertain him. He had sprinkled some crushed up leaves into the punch that would make people more hyper...hopefully livening up the crowd a bit. He tried to blend in but it was painfully obvious he did NOT belong here.

He passed by the group of trees many times without noticing anything off, though anyone watching would see him horribly out of place. After Malice had taken over he took a great liking to his poisons. It was a shame poison was not his favorite thing to make, but he did it anyway as Malice had something he had always wanted. Magic!  wondrous thing, something that nobody else had that somehow this brilliant one had managed to get! Why the hell would he chose any other side? He pitied the Royals, the children who probably watched their parents get murdered and now had to live under the man who did it. Of course they probably had no idea who he was, as he was usually in his little lab where he made gadgets and potions and such. One of his favorites was a little contraption that demonstrated a law of Physics, action=equal and opposite reaction. So he made these little metal balls that were hung by silver strings, and when you pulled one back and dropped it, the other side would go up (Newton balls guys). Of course Malice didn't care for his knick knacks, he only wanted things that would silence rebels forever.

Anyway, here he was, this young man, hardly 26, walking around here having no idea what was going on for the most part. Really he was waiting for more people to drink the punch so he could have a good laugh. Malice wasn't here so he dared to pull of such stunts, and while he wasn't afraid of Malice to a big extent, he did fear not being able to ever learn how he used such magic.

Still, this was getting extremely boring he figured he had a bit to wander before the stuff kicked in, so he slid out and took a walk in one of the many gardens. He loved the night, and a full moon made a night perfect. As he walked, not doing anything in particular expect wondering what would happen if he heated potassium nitrate, baking soda, and sugar... as he walked, he sang

"A Tinker's debt is always paid

Once for any simple trade

twice for freely given aid

thrive for any insult made"

~Deborah Ann Harcourt~

"Do we have to do this?" complained Deborah, her tone whiny. She was at the end of her straw; huddled and squashed between all of her siblings, her legs so numb she could barely feel them. except of course Kaladin. Lucky goose, thought Deborah, sick with envy at the thought of her oldest brother inside, enjoying the rich, sweet food and dancing. Deborah loved dancing. She was good at it, even Bramble said so! And Bramble's never wrong, she mused happily. Bramble, the best dancer in the whole universe, told me I'm an amazing dancer, talent deserving to be shown to all! So why can't go in and dance?

Deborah sighed a loud sigh, jealousy sprouting inside her as she watched the twirling ladies in glistening gowns, the chivalrous gentlemen dancing elegantly beside them, the servants running around carrying mouth-watering sweets and guards who stood stiffly at various points around the area, some even joining in the festivities, now that Malice was absent.

Deborah couldn't take it any longer. She wanted to go out there, and show off her amazing dancing skills. She wanted to stuff her face with chocolate fondue, and pull a few jokes here and there on unsuspecting dukes and duchesses.

"Bramble, I wanna go over there. Els (nickname for Eliza) is right; Malice is gone, so why don't we just enjoy the chance while we've still got it?" Just in case, Deborah showcased her best puppy-eyed face, her innocent blue eyes wide, her lips in a pout, her hands folded, pleading.

"Pretty please, with extra cherries on top?"

Bramble turned towards Elisa, which was rather hard in the confined space. This was always tradition. Every time there was a ball, the siblings snuck somewhere to watch the ball. Considering they weren't old enough to dance and attend a ball. Now it was different Bramble supposed. She did her best to cheer up her Elisa.

"Cheer up," said Bramble "young peep."

Bramble glanced back out at the dancers, in awe. Bramble loved dancing, and rightfully so. "Aye," said Bramble, agreeing with Elise. "But that rotter is out there." Bramble snarled, referring to the head of the guard, in her head he had betrayed them when he pledged allegiance to Malice.

Due to weather delays, it was said Malice would be arriving tomorrow morning, Bramble was satisfied, knowing his horse was caught deep in the snow, and he was probably freezing his ass off.

Bramble turned back around at the sound of Deborah's voice, her mischievous partner in crime. Bramble grinned wryly, the famous mischievous returning glint in her bright eyes. Bramble too, was starving, they'd been there since tea after all. "Oh fine." Bramble said, her lips slightly turning up.

Bramble grinned wryly. "Never fear, young chicks!" said Bramble as she began to crawl out from under the trees. "I'll go and fetch your sweets, if I don't come back, don't come find me!" Bramble said as she crawled out from the tree, she stood, surveying the ballroom, her dark locks braided into a side braid, resting on her shoulder, her simple jade-green, corseted dress was definitely not as exquisite as the dancers.

Bramble gracefully glided her way through the dancers, as subtly and as quickly as possible, so far, nobody had recognized her. She made it to the dessert table, where she began to load an assortment of sweets on a large silver platter.

-Rose Sabella-

"Hmm?" Rose heard something, like leaves rustling a bit and then soft footsteps that faded away in a hurry. 'What in the-?'

Suspicious, the red head headed to where she heard the rustling in the first place which was near a large pine tree. She noticed a soft mold of feet on the ground and it started from the...tree?

She looked up, seeing all of the children she lost earlier (except for one, Bramble), and grinned warmly, her eyes glittering in amusement. As she puts her hands on her hips and raising an eyebrow, the red head yelled softly as to not catch the attention of anybody from inside.

"Oi! What are you doing up there, you silly ducklings?" A nickname she made to address all of them since they tend to follow each other like ducklings follow their mother. She tapped her heeled foot on the soft ground, waiting for their response though she wasn't mad at them...not too mad anyways. "Well? I'm waiting~"

~Tobias King~

The ballroom was magnificently decorated, more than the late King of Relandra could've ever achieved to do. The large, crystal chandeliers glistened in the bright and luminous room, sweet melodies floated in the air, and the atmosphere was lighthearted and enjoyable. The tables were dressed in delicious foods, extravagant platters of exquisite dishes, rare delicacies  and sweet, flavoured juices of all kinds, including the best brewed and expensive wine in the land.

Tobias King was standing next to a wide window, watching it all. He wore light armour, since it was not necessary to wear heavy armour, it being a party and not an enemy attack. Memories of the ferocious attack not so long ago, flashed across his eyes for second, before he flitted them away. He didn't need to think of that now.

As he watched the dukes and duchesses dancing, his mind wandered off to his parents. If they'd been alive, they would be here, dancing along with all the other nobility. Tobias clenched a fist, tears brimming in his murky blue eyes as he thought of Laura, the woman who had sacrificed so much for his parents, and him. In the end, he couldn't help but think of her as a mother, and without her, he wouldn't be standing here today. Tobias's mind strayed to his quarters in the basements of the palace. The guards were considered almost no higher than the servants, but each class had their own set of quarters. Despite this, Tobias kept his servant quarters, the one he had shared with Laura when he was a child servant. The small, modest room held too many memories, both bitter and sweet.  He couldn't just leave it. Tobias's expression darkened for a moment, remembering about those papers. The wills and inheritance papers of his deceased parents. Ever since Laura's death, he hadn't touched them. Nor has he looked at them. He had abandoned them under a loose wooden board in the floor of his room.

So much bloodshed for a stack of useless papers, he thought angrily to himself, thinking of his parents. and Laura. He remembered that night, where he learned of his past, that he was really the nephew of King Malice. It was a concept so alien to Tobias, he spent countless hours trying to convince himself it was a lie. But then again, hadn't his entire life been a lie until that moment of ultimate truth? Tobias almost could chuckle at the thought of him, a lowly guard, used-to-be servant, actually being someone of royal blood, of such nobility and riches, and actually having a chance at getting the throne. It was impossible. He could never do such a thing. Besides, he had a promise to keep. He was never to tell anyone. Malice could never know that there is someone who can oppose his rule. He could never know that his own, traitorous brother's son is still alive, after years of believing everyone in the King family is dead, that his rule is sealed and secure. So, Tobias kept his head down, lips sealed, and avoided the malicious King as often as possible. He wanted to be invisible, even though being invisible is rather lonely, Tobias decided that, granted that Malice was absent, he should spend some time socializing. He may not be accustomed to such royal events, but he had the royal blood. Besides, it was just one night.

Tobias prepared himself, wanting to try and dance. Even if he wasn't the best dancer, he could at least try. He knew none of the noblewomen would accept his offers, so he could try the servant girls. Tobias took a deep breath, and started to walk out, before something else entirely caught his eye.

A particular woman was standing at the dessert table, dressed rather poorly for the dance, but enough to show she was noble. From another's point of view, she seemed normal, just enjoying the sweets spread on the tables. However, from Tobias's specific point of view, he could see her stuffing her skirts with sweets, as discreetly as possible. To be fair, it almost worked, and Tobias would've never caught it if he had stood at his post all along.

Tobias raised an eyebrow, a little confused. Tobias decided to approach her, to politely ask her to stop her hoarding of the sweets.

In a few moments, Tobias was right behind her, lightly putting his hand on her slender shoulder, smiling slightly.

"I apologize, ma'am, but I believe hoarding is not appreciated nor is it allowed. I kindly ask you put the sweets back where they were."

"Rose!" cried Deborah, happy to see their babysitter. Deborah loved it when she called the little children 'little ducklings'. It was funny to imagine them all ducklings, reminding Deborah of her most favorite story: the Ugly Duckling. Deborah imagined herself (if they were ducklings of course) as the ugly duckling, and even though she'd be laughed and ridiculed at, at least in the end, she'd get to be a beautiful, radiant swan. Who's gonna be laughing now? Deborah liked to think that way. Right before emerging from that squashy spot and running towards Rose, Deborah decided to sketch the ugly duckling the most ugly as possible, and then draw it as beautiful as possible, later. Deborah sprung up, and ran towards Rose, giving her a charging-horse hug, nearly knocking the woman over. Rose's been Deborah and her other little siblings's babysitter since forever. So long, that Deborah can't even remember when she came. Deborah felt sadness bubbling over the edge as she remembered her pa and ma, as she watched their horrible, terrible death. Rose was like a mother, and even though the feelings weren't fully developed, Deborah knew she'd be thankful for as long as she lived, that Rose was here. Even though she loved Rose, the woman was a great target for pranks. Secretly, as she hugged Rose, Deborah began hatching a plan for a new prank. She'd share it with Bramble later. Besides, they did every prank together. Els was too absorbed in her books and Emrys is too much of a smartypants to join in their childish fun.

"Bramble went to go get candies for us!" said Deborah happily. "Isn't she the bestest of the best?"

Elisa Harcourt

Almost grabbing out at Bramble after she quickly hurried away, Elisa stood and rocked on her heels. "Come on, hurry Bramble.." Was about the only thought going through Elisas head. She didn't want to be outside for too long this night, but she did want Bramble to have fun, maybe she'd even meet someone who would work up to her standards for once? After all she was well-known for her awkward treatment of suitors hoping to claim her hand. Just wanting her happy after all, just wanting to have her happy-ever after, if that was even possible anymore with the circumstances.

It didn't take long before Elisa knew that Deborah would jump out to Rose when she heard her voice, she knew the connection the two had, but it wasn't the same for Elisa. She only really felt the connection to her piano and her books. It was strange really, the other siblings seemed to have a connection between each-other or to someone else at least, but Elisa liked her own company, and didn't mind it either. She stepped out from the trees a looked to Rose with a small shrug. "As Deborah said. Bramble went to get sweets." There wasn't much of a smile either, more of a pretend, half-arsed smirk, wasn't that she didn't like Rose not at all. She really liked her in-fact, but Elisa thought her time could be better spent reading, practising or sleeping this late at night than standing outside in the cold. "You aren't going to tell anyone we were out here are you, Rose?" It was only a slight perk of worry that hit Elisa at this point. But worry still, Malice was cruel and everyone knew to what extent as well. Elisa didn't want anyone else hurt, no one.

beautiful-cute-fashion-green-eyes-lips-Favim.com-458321.jpg
Bramble was putting all sorts of sweets on the silver platter for her sister, puddings, dough balls, chocolate rolls, cake, etc. Just as the platter was almost filled to the brim, Bramble felt a hand on her shoulder, and a kind, polite voice telling her to put the sweets back. Technically, the rules were not to eat after supper, but they'd missed dinner, and they were all starving at the point, at least, Deborah and Bramble were.

Bramble turned around, her yellow-green eyes flaring angrily. "Oh hang-" Bramble cut herself off short to see one of the most attractive men she'd ever seen, certainly not one of the boring suitors her father had tried to throw on her. Bramble flushed a brilliant red. She knew how this looked. It looked like she was stuffing her face with desserts.

"Who the devil are you?" she said.

Bramble glanced past past the guards shoulder to the decorated trees on the other side of the ballroom, in the corner. Where Deborah leapt from the tries and hugged rose, the wee chicks caretaker, then before long, Elisa came out of the tree. Bramble cringed, knowing people were bound to notice children in the ball. If Malice found out..

"Rats." Bramble muttered, grimacing.  They'd been caught. Her bright eyes flicked back to the guard, yellow-green eyes narrowing

-Rose Sabella-

Rose laughed quietly as Deborah hugged her, steadying herself in time before falling and hugged her back. "Oh~ I see. Bramble went to get candies for all of you, hm?" That sounds like Bramble. The mischievous teen girl loves to sneak out and cause little pranks with Deborah. It's no surprise that she went inside to get some sweets and share with her siblings.

"Yes, she does sound like the best of all the bestest." Rose warmly giggled as she gently patted the young girl's head. She always looked at the royal kids as her own children (for the youngest ones) and older sister (for the oldest ones). Ever since the beheading of the previous king and queen, some of the children...couldn't handle the executions well and Rose knew that most if not, all of them must have been affected, even if the youngest one.

When Elisa came down and asked her, Rose quickly shook her head, still smiling at her. "No, of course not. I'll tell everyone that you kids needed fresh air after being stuffed in your room for so long if they ever find out." Then she patted the stoic brunette's head as well, still gentle with her affections. She knows how Elisa would rather read books than spend time with her, which she doesn't blame her for. Reading is fun, but sometimes the red head wished that Elisa would want to come out of the library without a book. It wouldn't be healthy if she didn't. Then again...she wouldn't change her for the world. In fact, she wouldn't change any of the kids.

Princess Bramble Harcourt?

She was definitely prettier than expected. Sharp, yellow-greenish eyes, soft, wavy hair, and a figure most women would envy for. Tobias wouldn't be surprised if she was bombarded with suitors all day long.

He would've bowed, if it weren't for Malice's decree that all shall bow to him, and no soul else. Even though Bramble was a princess, Malice's selfish order stopped him. Tobias blinked in surprise as her face flushed a shade of red. He wondered if it was because of him; he had worked out today, a must for all men of the royal guard, but he had made sure to shower for the evening. Before he could ponder on it any longer, her question caught him off guard.

"Tobias King," he answered, stammering slightly. Noticing her gaze was on something else, Tobias looked over his shoulder. There, he saw the young Princess Deborah Ann Harcourt, Princess Elise Harcourt, and their caretaker, Rose Sabella, in the ballroom. Alarmed, he turned back to Bramble, already knowing the risky situation. Malice restricted the children from particpating the ball, not even letting them show their faces any time in the event. He guessed the fact that he wasn't here was what drew them out here, but still, if Malice found out, he would fuming. And who knows what punishment will be inflicted on the Harcourt siblings?

Princess Bramble's gaze was on him again, her eyes narrowed. "Get out of here," he urged quietly. "Get out before anyone else notices your presence, and get the rest of your siblings out of here." Tobias glanced at the platter filled with sweets, then back at Princess Bramble. "And don't worry, I'll make sure to bring this platter to you later."

|Emrys Harcourt|

Emrys found himself pacing in the small space, a glass of water in hand This was a bad idea; the king had ears everywhere, and the royal children many enemies. Emrys had told Bramble so, but she declared it didn't matter, because it was tradition. Yet this was little consolation to the young prince. If Malice found out, it wasn't a farfetched belief that he'd have their heads. He had, after all, killed their parents without hesitation.

At the thought of that day, the day they were forced to watch Malice kill the king and queen, the day they were 'coerced' into his service, Emrys felt his blood begin to boil. It wasn't enough that he had torn apart their family. No, he had to parade them around like trophies; constant reminders that rebellion against Malice meant not only death, but utter humiliation. They were reduced to cattle inside their own home.

Emyrs jolted back to reality as the glass cup shattered. He had been so absorbed in his rage, he had hardly noticed his grip tighten. He brushed the shards off his hand, ignoring the slight trickle of blood, and lifted his gaze to find Bramble already caught sneaking treats. "Oh for heaven's sake!" He cursed. He may be younger than her, but his sister was headstrong. She often landed herself into trouble, especially when trying to appeal to the younger of the siblings.

He leaned back and watched his sister. He really hoped she would be able to charm the guard into keeping his mouth shut, lest they die but a month after Malice rose to power.

Sir Gavin Tirndas.

From the balcony above the party sir tirndas watched the guests as they danced about. He sat in his ceremonial armor, a shining suit of silver with gold embroidery of wings, both batlike and angelic as two tiny golden armies of angels and demons clashed on his chest. Few could know how relevant the scene had been, almost a testament to what went on in his mind the past month. Every day every fiber of his being shouted to strike the wicked murderer down, but he would hear his fathers voice

a wary enemy is a dangerous enemy, let them have the upper hand, and you take the underhand.

and as with every battle before he heeded the warnings, and as usual they kept him alive.

A glass of red wine sat in his hand as he watched, despite the thoughts in his head his eyes missed nothing on the floor. Every shift a guard made, the dancing of the lords an ladies. As usual the Mr. Majere the alchemist seemed uncomfortable, Gavin figured the man wasn't one for formal events, many of the guards shared his disdain for them. He also noticed princess bramble up to her usual antics, he figured it was only a matter of time before she got to the sweets, she had been doing so most of her life. To his amusement he noticed Sir King had caught her and was attempting to convince the princess to abandon her conquest. Good luck Tobias. he thought to himself.

It was a streak of red hair in the moonlight outside the window which drew his attention from his amusement. Rising to his feet he called "Sir Danvos, Take Overwatch, I wish to patrol the courtyard." The sergent nodded and moved closer to the edge studying the ball intently.

Sir Gavin proceeded Through the guards passageways, stone worked corridors within the main walls of the castle allowing the guards to move unobstructed throughout the palace. In moments he reached the exit. Opening the door into the cold he walked silently around the perimeter of the ballroom, rounding the corner he spotted her...Rose. She was with the royal children as usual, who were likely spying on the ball.

"Pardon My intrusion Your highnesses, but it is dreadfully cold out tonight. Would it not be wise to have had brought your Cloaks" He asked in a soft tone.

(sorry guys I can't tag people)

Abenthy Majere

After his little stroll outside, he returned to the party. The punch wasn't strong enough it seemed for people to actually get hyper. Damn. Well that's fine. He was going to turn and leave when he saw a small conversation with a man and a woman, then the girl run off. He figured that would be a sufficiently awkward enough time for him to step in and talk to someone...even if they were a part of the royal guard. He wasn't sure how they felt about him, they probably didn't like how he put sleeping powder in their rum, but how could they know that was him. He slid up to the man carefully. "Ho there...sir." He added the sir with a hint of sarcasm. "There are plenty of other fish in the sea-I mean I have been rejected all night." He tried to laugh, then followed his gaze. Was that...the Princesses all running with their caretaker? Damnit... "Oh or are you going to arrest them for being out here? Whatever you do I support your decision. Long live Malice you know?" He hoped he hadn't said too much... @Ms. Sparrow @Esther_Silvers

-Rose Sabella-

Rose jumped, not expecting to hear Gavin' s voice out in the open. She thought he was still inside and guarding the ballroom-! Dammit!

The red head immediately turned to face him and blocked the children's view with a cold glare. It was like she's protecting the royal family by standing in front of them as a shield of sorts, making sure he doesn't start something.

"Kids...run to your room now." She quietly urged the ones who can run to run fast as they can. She'll distract the head guard for a bit...Rose greeted Gavin with a small nod though not as friendly like before when they were children...

"Evening Sir Tirndas. Yes, they only wanted fresh air, so I let them out for a bit. No harm done. Now if you'll excuse them, they'll be on their way....Go! Go!" Rose whispered the last part to the kids, watching them run before looking back at the head guard...Oh look, Abenthy is there as well...

Dammit! More witnesses!

"Evening Sir Majare. I hope you're night is doing...well?" Rose asked, warily as she slowly walked up to the pair of men. She's going to make sure that they don't chase after the kids. Not on her watch..."...and you Sir Tirndas? Lovely night, isn't it?" She smiled, though very coldly. The red head has little to no faith or trust in either of these two men. Why would she when she couldn't tell who's friend and who's foe anymore? Especially not after what Gavin did...

But there's that small piece in her heart that tells her otherwise...a very small and tiny piece that's screaming 'Something's up with Gavin.' She wants to find out what though...and made it as her secret mission to find the answer, no matter how heart-wrenching it feels every time she sees him.

♔ Elisa Harcourt ♔

Elisa seemed to hold her breath when she heard the footsteps coming closer. The rattle of the chain together from Sir Tirndas's armour made her skin crawl. Apart from Malice, this was one of the only people she was deathly afraid of. Being Head-Guard basically meaning, I am Malice's puppy, and I'll do as he tells me, whether you die or not, at least to Elisa. She'd read about Knights, they were bold, strong and most of the time handsome. In her, 'educated' opinion, Sir Tirndas was all of these things, for the wrong reasons. After all, where is a fox without it's sly abilities?

Soon enough, he was right in front of them and Rose jumped in front of the siblings all huddled together. It was like a mother cat hissing and clawing at the person who came too close to her kittens. But Rose knew what she was doing, she done it one to many times since Malice had taken over. Elisa lent down and spoke into Deborahs ear softly. "Go, run to your room and keep the door close." She patted her shoulder lightly after, before Elisa backed herself slowly away and ran with her siblings, looking into the ball that was going on, her eyes caught Bramble talking with Sir King, she smiled greatly, maybe this was it, maybe she found the one. But there wasn't time for questioning, she kept running.

Sir Gavin Tirndas.

Gavin let out a chuckle at Abenthi's comment. "You Aren't under arrest my friend, the need for fresh air is something we all share" He assured him. Rose's tone on the other hand hit him like an arrow however, a well trained eye would likely have seen the brief flash of pain across the knights face. His composure was gathered back quickly however. "The children will be fine I assure you, King Malice need not be bothered by children being children, wouldn't you agree Mr.Majere?"

though his voice was soft his words carried a certain weight to them, the same weight that causes the other guards to avert their eyes when he was lecturing and training them, it was as if what he said had been spoken into law. As the snow began coming down in a powdery Drizzle he smiled once more. His memories took him back to this same courtyard, but twenty years ago.

He had just heard of his fathers death and figured training was as good a way to grieve as any. What he didn't count on was the snow, by the time any had noticed the young knight was missing he had already fallen into the snow, yet rose found him, she and her mother nursed him back to health. What her mother said still stuck to him this day.

"Even the coldest of winter days will melt to a warm heart" He said aloud as if the memory was happening over again. He had hoped rose would remember, and she would be reassured. He knew she must feel the same way about him as much of the kingdom did, to them he was a traitor, but it was for their own safety that they couldn't know his plan. He was ok with himself loosing his life, but he couldn't let the children, Rose, or even the maids of the palace die, He wouldn't while he still breathed. Inclining his head he spoke again. "Have the children go upstairs, they needn't be confined to their rooms, ill have the servants and the chef fix them up a warm meal." with that final utterance he Turned nodding respectfully to Abenthi before turning the corner and reentering the guards passage. In the passage was Sir.Dinklion "I shall retire to my quarters, the nights end draws nigh and the wine has begun to take its toll, send a servant to me and bring me a report every half hour until the ball has ended." he ordered earning a salute and a resounding "YES SIR" from the guard.

entering his quarters moments later he closed the door behind him and began the arduous task of removing his armor. Surely word would get around that the head guard abandoned his post, but he couldn't stand facing all of malice's friends and lackeys, especially with his heart so heavy. After bathing and changing into his Silk Nightgarb he sat at his desk and continued the letter he had been writing for the past month.

Again I apologize...

he started this line as he had every other one, and he continued to quill the letter in the cover of the night.

-Rose Sabella-

Rose noticed the flicker of pain in his eyes, but it went by so quickly that she couldn't believe it. Thinking it was her imagination. When Gavin told her that unforgettable quote however, she relaxed a bit. He...he still remembers that? Then...he's still in there after all. The Gavin she knew and grew up with is still in there! Then why would-?

Of course, she had to keep up appearances and nodded at his command, though she smiled and it was warm this time. "Yes Sir Tirndas...I'll be sure to have the children in their room. Goodnight Sir Tirndas. Goodnight Sir Majare. Pleasant dreams." With that, Rose calmly walked away and went inside the castle, to go to the children's room in their private wing. Once she arrived there, the red head knocked on the door and softly asked. "Hello again Ducklings. Are you still awake? You can open the door and let me in."

Then she remembered what Gavin had said and decided to mention it to the kids. "Food is coming up soon." Rose sighed to herself, now feeling relieved for so many reasons. Her friend is still her friend-! Maybe...maybe later...she could talk to him?

'We'll have to see...' She thought.

Abenthy Majere

He was rather silent through the exchange,  but actually followed Rose out,  as he had to go through a long hall with the children's rooms in it to get to his. Thanks Malice. Not that he despised them in any way, but he felt like they didn't like him...

He saw their caretaker whispering at one of the doors. That's fun. "Good evening m'am, are you locked out? I'm sure I have a...key. " He knew very well this was the children's room...he just new how to pick locks. Sure the lock might be a bit broken after...but the point was you got in.  "I didn't see you much at the gathering. I can't say I much enjoy them...I am obviously not much of a noble." He said slightly shamefaced, not knowing what the rest thought of him. @Katsuya @Ms. Sparrow

-Rose Sabella-

Rose quickly looked to the side, blinking in surprise that someone followed her. "Good evening-! Y-yes, I am." She cocked her head a bit to the side, raising an eyebrow at him suspiciously. Wait a minute...

"I...I didn't like how stifling it is today. So I left early and played a bit with the kids." Rose then smiled at him, though a bit awkwardly. She didn't know how to feel about him but...if he's nice then she won't think much about it.

"I could care less if anybody is a noble or not. I mean, I'm the caregiver for these kids. I don't have a high title, so...you're okay with me." Then squinted her green eyes. "Do you really have the key to their room?"

Bramble was grateful to say the least, although she didn't show it, like usual. "Yes..erm..uh. Thanks." Bramble stammered, still recovering from the initial surprise of letting her leave. Behind Tobias, the dancers were doing a Christmas Jig. One of her favorite dances, she was disappointed she would not be able to witness it. But knew it was necessary, at the far end of the ballroom, all eleven siblings quickly ran out of the ballroom, one sibling holding tiny Willow, just an infant, and another held Kale, only two years old. Bramble's eyes flashed at seeing the Gavin, her lips pressing together the slightest with anger. Then Abenthy, the Alchemist. Bramble gave a exasperated sigh. Now they'd surely be found out by Malice. Bramble caught Elise's eye, and gave her a wink as they ran up the stairs.

The siblings all shared one big room, with ten beds, and two cribs. It was on the third story of the palace, located in the north wing. The room had a giant, grand fireplace, and window seats, one that gave them full view of the beautiful palace gardens.

Bramble dragged one foot behind her, and gave one of the most graceful curtys she'd ever had to Tobias, in thank you for letting them go.

Bramble took o ok a step away from the dessert table, heading for to leave, when suddenly, the ballroom doors burst open, and in his sleek, catlike movements, Malice entered the ballroom, stoping to gaze around the ballroom.

"Ack!" Bramble made a sort of strangled sound as she turned and dove under the dessert table. The white table cloth hiding her from sight.

Everything stopped short. The dancers stopped dancing, the talking instantly hushed, and even the orchestra cut off, a violin cutting off with an embarrassed rosined whine.

Malice wore his usual attire, dresses in all black. Not boring black but dashing black. His sleek midnight hair pulled back into a ponytail. A spector of high cheekbones, showing traces of long dimples. And even across the room...his eyes blazed black, eyes so dark one could have gotten lost in them, if they weren't so dead, cold, and empty. He wore a formal suitcoat, all black. His cloak rippling straight behind him, just grazing the marble floor. His black eyes flicked around the room, his lips curving in the faintest of a smile.

"Well," Malice said, in his chocolate smooth voice, his tone even and gentle.  "Don't stop on my account."

Shivers  ran up Brambles spine, as the entire room swept low into a bow. Bowing to Malice. Their false King. Bramble was relieved she was hidden from view.

"You may rise." He said after a long moment, and everyone graciously rose. He snapped his long gloved fingers, and the orchestra started up again. The dancers warily danced, and the chatter a slight quieter then it had been before.

♔ Elisa Harcourt

Covered in her bed sheets, the whispering from outside the door came through along with the music she could hear from the ball. Unsure whether to open it or not, she stayed in her bed reading one of her books with faint candle light. Her peace was soon disrupted though. The music stopped. The laughing stopped. Everything just seemed to stop. In this moment, Elisa knew that he was back. It was like the palace was covered in a blanket of horror in mere seconds, and tears fell from her eyes again. She jumped out of bed counting all her siblings. Making sure the youngest of them all were okay for now. "Wait, Bramble, Deborah? Oh no.." Elisa thought the utter worst. Malice must have found her, must have her caught in the grand hall. She rushed over to her chest and grabbed her boots again, slipping them on and looking towards the door. She couldn't go out, someone or more than one person was out there. But she had a plan. She edged her way towards the door and unlocked it, letting the door open slowly before she'd wait for them to come in the room or become distracted so she could slip by. She watched her siblings for the time being hoping they were asleep but if not, hoping they weren't watching.  "Please be safe you two.."
