Recap from Season One

There are sounds of a small waterfall, a river, a babbling brook, something. The water was gently streaming and moving nearby. Sunlight filtered through the surrounding trees, warm but not burning for the ones susceptible to such light.

Eyelids lifted to reveal the group gathered in the woods. Natural rocks cultivated a half circle waterfall, the sounds both soothing and grounding. They were all dressed in something they would have worn normally before the moon bled, before they were called to save the world. Leif had an extra ring on a finger, magic pulsing within it. And that's when knowledge flooded in, flowing as swiftly as the water beside them.

Everyone was 'back', they knew without a doubt who, and what they were. Vivian was Roje, Dwight was Edwin, Leif was... Leif, and so on. The when was modern day, the year as if they never left. The where, now that was a little more complicated. While they did return to the correct bodies, the correct time, it was not the place they recalled leaving. Or was it?

A certain coin still lay resting against Indy's chest, tucked underneath the shirt she wore. It felt warm, alive with a heartbeat, it was home. Indigo knew this place from long ago. Her adoptive mother lived here, Annabeth was here and likely waiting for her daughter's return to Marasong Harbor, a village just on the other side of the trees.

Indigo Sanderson has returned home, and brought some friends along for the ride.

The air was crisp, clean, with a heavy pinch of an ocean scent, somewhat similar to the coast of Maine. A slight breeze helped carry the briny smell through the trees, though it picked up a few other scents along the way. Someone was cooking, the tantalizing smell would help lead them to the village, where they could see firsthand the quaintness that drew so many to its location.

A few bicycles traveled over cobblestone paths that twisted and circled every which way through the old foundation homes they had to pass by before reaching the docks. Cars and trucks did not exist in the town, but could be found on the far edge, closest to the roads leading away. It wasn't a difficult task to walk from one side to the other, and the residents liked the lack of pollution. Life here moved slower, there wasn't a rush to get from point A to point B. People actually took their time and enjoyed the journey along the way.

Overall, Marasong Harbor had a feeling of intimacy, like most small towns. It was both good, and not so good, for the close knit community knew who lived there, and who didn't. Most new visitors arrived by ship, very few came from the opposite end of the town, even with the main roads coming from the same direction as the group. It was too rare an occurrence, which would bring closer scrutiny. Like many small towns, strangers were recognized as newcomers to the area, and the weight of many gazes would be felt. Some would hold that gaze if caught, others would turn away to resume whatever activity they were currently engaged in at the time.

Regardless, Indigo knew the way home, like a heartsong, it beat stronger when she traveled in the correct direction. And she could probably place bets on who she'd find waiting for her.

OOC Information

Clementine AsherMasher AsherMasher : After five minutes, a wordless melody plays in the back of your mind, soft like a lullaby. You can't place it, and you can't shake it off for several hours. It's haunting as much as it is reassuring, but the inability to name that tune will bother you all day and make it difficult to stay focused. It will be gone the next morning.

Edwight Thropian Thropian : The forest sings to the bear spirit, but it clashes with something emanating from the nearby sea. After several minutes, it feels almost like you're being pulled in two different directions, leaving your senses disoriented. This will clear up after a half hour, but leave you more fatigued than normal until you can get a good night's sleep.

Indy Rhyme Rhyme : The coin pendant is nearly too warm to keep around your neck without something in between as a buffer, but it's only warm to you. It pulses like a heart, beating strong and fast, eager to return home. The closer you get, the faster it will pulse, and the louder it sings to you. If you take too long, the song will reach deafening levels, stopping only when you find the one who is waiting for your return.

Leif KodakWolf KodakWolf : The ring on your finger looks very similar to the one worn by Roje, only with a different design. Your ring bears an etching of a sun between morning and noon with small rays. It pulses with magic when you are in direct sunlight, though the sun does not immediately burn. However, it's quite bright and you will experience pounding headaches behind your eyes when you are outside in the daylight for longer than five minutes, and this effect will last for several days. You'll also notice after a cumulative half hour of exposure, you begin to feel heat upon your skin. This heat gradually increases, becoming rather painful, and begin to burn after one hour. The burning will stop when you are no longer in sunlight, direct or indirect, but remains painful until you stay out of the sunlight for a full night.

Roje Britt-21 Britt-21 : About five minutes after 'waking up', right around the time the realization of being back to your old self seeps in, a blanket of complete silence falls over you. You can see others moving their lips when they talk, but no sound reaches you. A minute later, there is a loud snap, and everything rushes back into existence. However, the sound isn't the only thing that rushes over you. You're suddenly famished, starved to the point of being physically painful. This hunger will continue until you have 'properly' fed.

Silver Silver- Silver- : After five minutes, it feels like hackles rise along the back of your neck, even in human form. A thick sense of unease floods your senses like a sudden wave crashing over you. You experience a jolt of doom and gloom, as if something dark has run their fingers along your cheek. There is a quick, sharp need to center yourself before you can keep moving, but you'll feel off kilter the rest of the day.

Welcome Aódh McFaol

The tour bus rumbled at the southern edge of town, not allowed into the city itself. The guide made sure Aódh had his belongings before wishing the lad good luck with a small shake of his head. He wasn't surprised when Aódh said he wanted to stay behind, having seen a few visitors in his time choosing to stay once they stopped at Marasong Harbor.

Truth was, for the last year, the tour guide had avoided this stop, but on some strange auto-pilot mode, found the Welcome to Marasong Harbor sign glaring at him before the realization of where he was sunk in. Now, he'd lost another one and was sure to hear about it back at the tour office. Nothing to be done for it, the lad had his mind made up and if Aódh decided to leave, there were plenty of ways he could get back to the airport.

And that was just yesterday. Barely twenty hours ago since Aódh booked himself a room at the Marasong Inn, at the very end of the eastern docks. Seraphim O'Connor checked him in, a lovely lass with strawberry kissed brown hair, and clear blue eyes. She wore a pale blue and white Victorian dress, the kind with slightly puffy sleeves, frilly lace cuffs, and a skirt that would have been full if an underwire hoop had been worn underneath. The result was a slightly more modern appearance, but the hem of the gown brushed the floor as she walked.

Aódh was shown to one of the smaller rooms on the first floor, and while the bed was only a double, it would feel like floating on water. The view provided a grand scene of the open water and some of the trading ships when docked. Each room shared a full bathroom with another room, doors locked from the inside to accommodate privacy, and common etiquette was expected, aka no hogging the bathroom all day or night. He also received two meal vouchers for each day he stayed with them. The vouchers were good at the cafe on the docks 'The Loving Spoon', open early and closed late.

Seraphim smiled as she made sure he was settled in before closing the door. Her voice was nearly melodic as she almost sang, "Good night. Sleep tight. I'll leave on the hall light." The door latch clicked shut, and the bed was looking very, very comfortable.

OOC Information

Aódh Larry Larry : That first night, you sleep like a babe in its mother's arms. There was just something so calming, so serene about the place. It was easy to see why so many called it home, it felt like one. There were no dreams, just a soft lullaby that looped in the back of the mind and lingered into the morning. In fact, once you realize the melody was still there, it would be very difficult to tune it out. It wasn't necessarily a bad thing, it brought a sense of relaxation and was something one could hum along with.

Seraphim would be able to direct you to the cafe if you wanted breakfast first, or she could recommend a number of other places for sight seeing folks like yourself. You can stay in the room, sleep in, grab you some food, or start exploring the town. At this time, you will not run into any of the other player characters.

The sound of chattering birds filled the humid air. As Indy was slowly roused, the sound of babbling water assured her she was still with Augie, deep under the water, soft and secure in its encompassing hold. Wearily, with blurred vision, she slowly blinked her eyes and tilted her head to the side. Something was biting into her palm and, as she uncurled her fingers, she saw the curved edges of the white shell in her palm.

"When you doubt yourself, look at this and remember. The sea will always be good to you."

The memories hit her like a freight train. She jerked, groaning as the fog slipped from her brain and was replaced with pulsing lances of pain at her temples. God fuckin--how much had she had to drink? She wasn't Nahla, she remembered that, but had she been, she had been a goddamn fish and now she was---

Oh fuck. She slapped a hand against her eyes. If someone had drugged her again, she was going on an absolute goddamn Terminator-style rampage. She was getting too old for this shit.

A groan rattled her body from head to toes as she rolled onto her side, the wet grass pressing against her cheeks. Unsteady, she attempted to raise herself onto her elbows, quickly patting down her sides. A loose shirt and jeans clung to her limbs, the cool air slightly dampening the fabric. This was a far cry from the medieval cosplay she had been wearing wherever, whenever they came from. Did this mean they were back? Did she--

She gasped, rolling upward as she clutched at her shirt, grabbing desperately until she felt it--the coin, warm and humming against her chest within the pouch. Relief flooded her body. It was here, it was safe. The shell Augie had gifted her, the coin, she had to be back, then. But where were...

Where were they.

"Roje!" Indy scrambled onto her hands and knees, still unsteady and wobbly as she looked over the group scattered around her. "Roje, are you--" That was when she finally noticed the tall black rock cliffs around them, that familiar scent of thick pine, the sharp "Cheet cheet" call of the Fantail. The realization sank in her gut, dragged her back onto her butt as she gripped the grass with one hand and the thrumming coin against her chest with the other.

"Oh fuck." She hissed.

It made no sense. How had that woman--what was her name? Layla, Leira? How had she known to send them here?! And why the whole lot, how had she known to send all of them to this exact place? Why, why after how hard Indy had worked to keep her mother out of this--she slammed her hand against the ground, swearing again sharply as she crawled over to Roje. "Wake up, wake up--we have to go. We have to get out of here." She shook her shoulder, praying her sister was okay--that she would be able to run. They needed to get the first flight out, swim if they needed to; anything to keep whatever might have followed them far, far fucking away from this place.

Even as the thought cemented itself in her brain, Indy knew, rooted deep inside herself, that she could not leave, now.

She had always known. Even as her desperation to leave cracked her voice, that soft call--echoed by the waterfall, the screech of the Fantail, it said what she always knew:

Once she returned home, there would be no going back.

circle-cropped (12).png Aódh McFaol
Location: Marasong Inn.
Mood: Happy, after a good nights rest.
Interaction: Out Of Words Out Of Words .
Aódh couldn't have recalled a time in which he had a better nights rest; there was something, ever since he first landed in New Zealand, a certain feeling in his chest that drew him to the country. One thing, that for certain didn't draw him, was the heat. As he much as people loved to complain about the dreary, dour weather that people in Ireland were routinely used to, when compared to the baking heat below the equator, Galway appeared to him to be a temperate paradise. Yet, as the the ferry departed from Wellington for a tour of the northern shore of the south island and, on their towards the north-western side of it, Aódh felt the panging in his chest thump even farther when the sign for Marasong Harbour flashed into his vision. It was fortunate that the guide said that they were to stop in Marasong regardless of Aódh's feeling, for, if they happened to have sped on in continuing their tour, the young man might have felt his body throw him from the vehicle in the direction of the harbour town. As they all disembarked from the bus, Aódh wandered around the rather quaint settlement, a scouring of the place not taking much more than fifteen-twenty minutes. Finishing his tour of the place, owing to this strange sensation arising within him, he told the tour guide that he wished to stay in Marasong beyond the allotted period of time which the tour company allowed. As he expected, there was a great protest from the tour guide, a man by the name of John, who really tried to encourage him to get back on the bus but realising that further remonstration was pointless, he let Aódh go about his business but said if he so wished, that the bus would travel back again by Marasong, should he wish a return journey to Wellington.

Seeing John off with a frenetic waving of his arms, along with the other few passengers he had talked on the way to Marasong, Aódh, who couldn't very sleep out in the open (lest he wish to ought himself as being a fabled man-eating beast to the residents!), sough out the Marasong Inn. I hope I haven't made a big mistake, the young Irishman thought to himself as he made his way through the door. In line with the general feeling that he had, the guesthouse had the same cosy feeling the town possessed but mixed up with a degree of modernity that he would have seen in the likes of Galway City or even Wellington. Ambling towards the reception area, somewhat sheepishly, he started conversing with the concierge, who later introduced themselves as Seraphim and details about a room were promptly drawn up. As the lady led him to his room and unlocked the door for him, it was as though a spontaneous drowsiness fell over him and it was no sooner than the soft-spoken receptionist closing the door that he snuggled into bed and conked it.

Waking up from his slumber, he went through his rudimentary routine of brushing the teeth first (he was still getting used to sharing it with another stranger), then getting changed into a less formal attire than what he was wearing the day before. Making his way down the stairs, the young man noticed the fair-skinned receptionist and made his way over to the counter.

"Good morning Seraphim," Aódh said jollily, the rumbling of his stomach a sign as to what his intentions were, "I was wondering about a bit of breakfast. Would I be able to get something to eat here? If not, is there somewhere in time where I could?"

At first, the sounds of the woods didn't strike Leif as unexpected or unfamiliar. They were there when he last remembered falling asleep in the small village by the water. Strangeness began as his other senses kicked in, and it was quickly clear that the only thing in common with the place he'd last fallen asleep in were the nature sounds.

He'd gotten up before he could process the fact that the warm sunlight appeared to be harmless, somewhat similar to another grove he recalled being in. Where was it again? A quick look at the others who were present revealed mostly familiar faces, some of which were present in said grove, although the ones he sought the most weren't there, and a wave of dread washed through him. How much of that had actually been real? More importantly, who was real?

Given how many times he lost and regained memories recently after being teleported between worlds/timelines/universes, this time the memories seemed suspiciously clear. He remembered perhaps too much, from Texas, to Ecuador, to... a more recent trip to the middle ages. He wasn't sure he'd ever been to those woods, although the briny scent mixed with those of the settlement nearby made him wonder whether he'd actually been teleported again (geographically speaking at least, since the modern day clothes the group wore hinted at at least some sort of time travel).

The bright daylight wasn't helping him focus, and it diverted his attention to the extra ring he wore, the one that seemed to pulse with magic. What it did, he could guess. How it ended up there? No idea, but he was grateful. Still, it wasn't a comfortable feeling, and while he'd managed to stop himself from rushing somewhere away from the sunlight the moment he'd stood up, the creeping onset of a headache reminded him that perhaps it was time to start concerning himself with finding decent darkness.

Again, it wasn't something he could focus on for very long before something else drew his attention, this time it was the movement of some of his time travel buddies, a dark haired woman especially, that shortly after waking up seemed to be flipping out and trying to wake her sister up. Her sister? Come to think of it, he didn't remember any of their faces. Perhaps there lie an answer after all. However, what actually fixed his gaze on her were her words. She seemed too desperate for someone who supposedly woke up in a strange place. Too certain of where they were.

"Get out of where?" Leif uttered those words loud enough for her to hear. His tone was serious and his eyes pierced her, looking for any more signs she could give off, but he didn't move from where he was standing, and waited.

The feeling could only be described as disconcerting. Gut-wrenching perhaps, since being pulled from one environment to the next without warning placed one’s mind on both high alert and in a swathe of confusion. Silver didn’t remember having fallen into unconsciousness as she stirred from her spot amongst the crowd, greeted by the shifting of fabric against dewy tussocks of grass while she brushed away a few blades that clung to her clothes and face.

She blinked at the sight of her dark sleeve, recognizing the outfit she wore as her eyes scanned the articles with scrutiny. Images flitted across her mind, bringing memories that had once been buried in a thick fog to the forefront of her mind as she now gazed at the other people around her. It felt like she’d lived a completely different life only moments ago.

A crisp breeze had her shuddering—the scents that wafted along the currents rolling in fresh wariness towards her surroundings. She felt herself moving with slow caution, even if it were something as simple as turning her head to capture what the area around them offered. The perpetual waterfall rushing into a bubbling pool, the hushed tones that the canopies spoke in among the wind and the oddly familiar scents radiating from the others carried a certain comfort—yet the gentle atmosphere seemed to carry an off-putting aura. It felt as if the shadows around them were crouching readily, patiently awaiting the perfect moment to strike.

A flicker of strength reminded her of the beast within that flexed it’s powerful sinews, ready to take reign with ease should she allow her focus to drift. For how soothing this place appeared, attempting to shift didn’t seem to be the right move nor did allowing her mind to stray on one thing for too long. It made her want to pace until there were furrows dug into the earth.

It feels like I’m being watched from afar but by something that isn’t even there. When blood threatened to roar in her ears, she clenched her hands repeatedly, attempting the breathing technique that Ravens had taught her and in doing so, began to remember bits and pieces of the village ravaged by battle. The people whom they had swapped bodies with—had they returned now that they were here? Vivian. Ashley. Dwight. Leif. Maybe.. Nahla?

In glancing around at everyone, their names came to mind but she was unsure if they were the right ones. Whatever the case was, they were all stuck together in another mess between timelines but perhaps this one was closer to home more than they thought. The one she recognized as Nahla rolled on the grass and groaned whilst swiftly reclaiming her bearings. She was quick to scramble over to whom she thought was Vivian but was instead.. Roje?

The urgency in which Nahla spoke with had Silver’s gaze darkening upon hearing how desperate she was to get her and Roje away from this place. Another had risen from the damp earth carrying a scent she recalled from what felt like long ago. He was someone she’d only seen as a wolf but recognized their stature and also how the person that had once sat with them wasn’t among them. A man with dark hair and blue eyes that had also been a wolf. Had he and Rhevens not been a part of the timeline they’d fallen into now?

“And why so urgently?” She spoke up after Leif bore his stare down on them, brushing away more grass from her clothes as she came to stand and offer them her own distrustful look.

When the crystals shattered, and he watched the others fall, a part of Edwin knew what was coming. He could brace himself, even if he could explain to Dwight what it meant. When their crystal was broken, and the world ripped out from around them, Edwin and Dwight tumbled through the nothing, weightless non-existence, falling without moving, flying to nowhere. When they finally crashed back into a reality, they couldn't tell where they were.

Nor could they tell if they were separate. Their thoughts collided, their inner voices overlapping. It was deafening, but they were already figuring out how to interact together. So when they heard the other voices, it only took them a few minutes to work their body into motion. By the number of voices, it seemed the others were faring better.

First was the voice of Nahla, calling out to a "Roje." Neither mind could recall this name, but the body looked like Vivian. Perhaps they'd known each other in some world. Next was Leif, a name both remembered clearly. Strangely consistent. And last, one that neither truely remembered. The name Aria floated faintly in, but the voice was more familiar than a name. The wolf that spoke in spirits.

The twin souls worked to move the body into standing. It felt strange, some movements were too quick and forceful, others felt slowed by thick mud. The result was a sort of drunken stumble up. The thrumming beats of nature cascading against their head only made this drunkenness worse.

"If we must move," they spoke as firmly as they could, "then it would be best to make sure we can all move." His half assured steps carried him past the two that were standing, as they seemed to be doing well enough. Nahla seemed to be moving at least, and Roje/Vivian was in Nahla's grasp. He knelt by the young girl. Ashley? Clementine? Both names felt far away. He checked for her pulse, and was satisfied that she was alive and breathing.

"Where would we go? We seem not to be fully ourselves yet, and I doubt we'd make it far without help." He asked aloud, though kept his attention on trying to wake the girl.

Welcome Beatrice Welles

Time passes differently in Marasong Harbor, or rather, one's perception of time. There are many who lose track of the measured moments of the day and night, too caught up in the sunrise or sunset, or the way the water moves with the breeze and lap at the wooden planks of the piers. Or the soft caress of the waves along the ship hulls as they bob with quiet creaking groans of wood likely as old as the largest of the trees farther inland.

Marasong was just a different beast all together, and at first, it might be a little intimidating. If one was accustomed to the faster paced world of the cities, bustling with technology and people who didn't so much as glance at the people they passed on the street, the degree of culture shock would be even deeper. Here, people knew who lived here, and who didn't, but whether or not that was a good thing was all in how a newcomer reacted.

Take for example when a certain Beatrice Welles arrived. A bit of sea sickness plagued the young woman, and the open seas had been a might more turbulent for those on the ship 'The Myrmidon'. It was one of the larger trading vessels that made Marasong Harbor a regular stop. Passengers weren't unheard of, especially during the fairer weather months, so they were accustomed to having someone a bit green around the gills, and had requested a bit of assistance for the lass.

Assistance came even before they were fully docked and secured to the pier. A young man, fairly close in age to Beatrice, had been waiting on the wooden planks just for her. He wore a slightly oversized green sweater, thinner than typical winter fare, more like a buffer against the chillier breeze from being on the ocean's edge. Dark jeans were tucked into black combat boots, and just as dark waist length hair flowed freely in the wind.

Dapper was his name, and he took her bags, and greeted her with a smile easily reflected in his light hazel eyes. "Welcome to Marasong, pleased to have you visiting!" He pointed out some of the things most tourists liked to see on their way to the inn at the eastern end of the docks. There was the cafe, The Loving Spoon, right in the middle of the docks. She'd get two meal vouchers for each day she stayed at the inn, good at the cafe which was open early and closed late. There was the art gallery a little bit farther down, and a number of other small stores.

At the Inn, Dapper handed Beatrice off to the innkeeper, Seraphim, who enjoyed Victorian style gowns, minus the underwire hoop that made the skirt full and a little cumbersome. Seraphim showed her to a small room with a double sized bed along the first floor. She'd have to share the bathroom once the adjoining room had a guest, but the doors on either side of the restroom would lock for privacy, and common courtesy was expected of everyone.

Since the young lady was feeling poorly, Seraphim would have a meal brought to Beatrice's room if requested while she was recovering for the first day of her stay. The bed was heavenly, and the scent of the open sea was pleasant presence rather than something overpowering. Everything felt right, aside from the bout of sea sickness, like Beatrice was right where she was supposed to be.

OOC Information

Beatrice OrganicUFO OrganicUFO : The first night might have remained slightly unpleasant due to the sea sickness, but the second night was the best sleep you've had in recent memory. Another guest joined sometime during the second day, the one spent recovering from the sickness. You could hear someone in the shared bathroom, but they didn't linger past what was 'proper'. Around the same time, you register a soft melody has been gently playing in the back of your mind.

It's not clear how long you've had this playing in your head, it's unobtrusive, but persistent and pleasant, like a lullaby. You might have heard it before, somewhere, but there are no words to sing, only the soft melodious humming. It lingers through waking up on your third day in town, feeling better and ready for some exploration. The tune keeps swimming through your brain even as you find yourself drawn to the Inn's front desk in the morning.

Someone else is currently speaking with Seraphim, a fairly tall young man, with striking blue and green eyes, chestnut-brown hair, and fairly casual attire. You can hear him asking about somewhere to eat a bit of breakfast.

Beatrice Welles
Beatrice woke up feeling like she'd slept in the clouds. Her dreams were pleasant, and when she awoke her seasickness was gone. She really couldn't remember the last time she'd felt so refreshed after waking up, and as she stood, her bare feet touching the cold wooden floor, she felt more at peace than she ever had in her own home. A soft melody played in Beatrice's head. As she closed her eyes, she noticed a soft melody playing through her head. The sound wasn't intrusive, and Beatrice found it oddly comforting. Beatrice rubbed her eyes and made her way towards her suitcase. Her blonde hair brushed against her shoulders, and as Beatrice bent down and began to rummage around her suitcase, she decided that today would be the day to finally explore. Beatrice decided that to mark the occasion she'd pull out her favourite sweater. The sweater had always been one of her mother's least favourite parts of Beatrice's wardrobe, and while she would never admit it, it was part of why she loved it so much. The sweater itself was a mustard colour with large red squares checkering the bottom. As she put it on, the fleece hugged her just right and brought some warmth into her bones. She then threw on her dark grey corduroy pants, and rolled up the cuffs. She then collected the rest of her things, which consisted of her phone, wallet, room-key, and the old crumpled flyer that had originally drawn her in. When she was collected, Beatrice then put on her beaten up black Doc Martins, which had seen more than their fare share of wear and tear. Finally, when she was ready to go, Beatrice made her way downstairs to the front desk of the inn.

There were only three things on Beatrice's mind. The first was that she wanted to thank the man who had guided her to the inn. She felt horrible that she couldn't remember his name, but when he helped escort her she was so nauseous she could hardly see straight. However, she hoped that since the town was small she'd run into him soon. Plus it helped that he had some of the most beautiful and striking hair she'd ever seen, so he'll hopefully stand out in a crowd. The second thing on her mind was to thank Seraphim for all they'd done. Even if it was just bringing food to her room, Beatrice felt incredibly safe under their roof, and comforted by their presence which to her is worth the world. The third and most dominating thought in Beatrice's mind was that she wanted something to eat. She was starving and due to her seasickness hadn't eaten much other than the snacks she'd bought from the first floor's gathering room, so the idea of having a meal that didn't consist of potato chips or cold plastic wrapped sandwiches made the prospects of breakfast even more exciting. As she turned down towards the front desk, she saw someone ahead of her. Beatrice has always tried to ignore the conversations around her when she isn't actively involved in them, however, when she hears him ask Seraphim about breakfast, her ears naturally perked up. She goes to stand beside the man, however still far enough away as to not be super weird. A respectable distance, or at least what Beatrice would consider to be so. When she turns to look at him, she first notices his height. He was tall, but not obnoxiously so. Beatrice always appreciates that in a person since she finds it annoying having to crane her head up at people. She then noticed the strange man's striking blue eyes, which she thought looked quite nice in the light. However, it wasn't his looks that concerned her. It was his questions. Beatrice turned to Seraphim and softly cleared her throat, hoping her voice wouldn't come out sounding funny because of how little she'd been speaking in these last two days.

"Hi! So sorry to barge in but I couldn't help but overhear you enquiring about places to eat for breakfast." " she exclaimed, with her upbeat and chirpy mask falling into place as naturally as trees blow in the wind. "If my flyer is correct, I hear there's a nice place around here? Something something spoon it's called? If you want, I'd love to accompany you to wherever this place is. Also! I'd uh... love to bring you back something to eat, Seraphim. You've been really lovely to me since I've been here and I'd really love to show my gratitude. Without you I don't know what I would've done." Beatrice states.
As she looks at the two individuals, Beatrice really really hopes that this mystery man will join her for some food. If only because she could use the company while she settles in, since something was telling her she'd be here longer than originally planned.

Roje didn't appreciate the silence that surrounded her. It was always something that unsettled her, actually, made her uncomfortable as if something was going to happen any second. But expecting the unexpected, she still seemed to flinch when she heard a loud snap. That's when it happened, everything began to expose itself to her memories. From saving the world, finding out about her sister, being shadow kissed, and getting thrown into some kind of time back in the day where no modern technology lived. Her lover had been there, Dusk. A man that she carelessly fell for and lost not too long after. This was a curse she carried with her wherever she had gone. Did she accept that fact? She did. She was trouble and everyone she knew, knew that. With her sister in the picture, she knew that she'd do anything to keep her safe from harm. Even if it had meant her own life.

Aside from all of that, the sounds of nature filled her ears, and if it weren't for her extreme hunger, she would have enjoyed it. Not a second later did she hear Indy screaming out her name and possibly moving over to her with all the shuffling? Her hazel eyes opened but squinted at the bright sun while her arms moved to squeeze her stomach I feel like I had been starved for weeks... slowly and painfully she rolled onto her side and then moved her arms to slowly get up, only to release a hiss of pain and lay her upper half on the ground while her lower half remained up. "Mother fucker..." she muttered, taking a few breaths, she sat up and sat on her feet so she was kneeling. But those arms went right back to being wrapped around her stomach. I can't...Move like this...I need blood... and that blood she really didn't want to come from a living person, it was possible she had no choice. Painfully but slowly looking around, she spotted others with her. They seemed familiar, but at the same time not. Was this because of all the memories that came through? Either way, she couldnt think of their names right now. Not when her body felt like it was going to turn her inside out.

Her eyes landed on a dirty blonde male who asked the same question and was staring at her sister. Gritting her teeth, she glared at him "Eyes off, fucker." she hissed in pain as she leaned her head down a little. Closing her eyes tightly Dammit. I can't help Indy like this. Especially when she's so worried about being here. Where the hell even are we? Roje began to take deep breaths, trying her best to subside the pain in some way. A few others began to speak up as well, and Roje took note of that. At least one of them had the right idea to make sure they could all move. Then another had spoken up, a female voice who seemed concerned and also not sure where they would go. Damn, its like the Blind leading the Blind out here almost.

Bit O' Breakfast

Today, Seraphim had on a light lilac and cream colored gown, with a demurely scooped neckline, and smooth long sleeves. It laced up in the back, and her cuffs were still adorned with delicate lace embroidery. A small clump of three lilac flowers had been tucked into her hair, which had been swept up into a bit of a messy bun. She had opened her mouth to answer Aódh when another guest came alongside. Her smile never wavered, and she let Beatrice talk before answering.

"Oh yes, the Loving Spoon, it's called." Her voice was soft spoken, but still clear and audible. She had a soft accent, and her lips barely moved as she spoke. "You have two meal vouchers for each night you stay with us, and they are for, coincidentally, the Loving Spoon." Her smile grew wider and there was a soft laugh. "It's easy to find, and it should be open, it's usually open before sunrise."

She leaned forward a bit, to gesture toward the front doors and point in the direction of the cafe. "Just head left once you're outside, follow the docks to the middle, and you can't miss it. It has a heart and a spoon on the front, but I wager the smells will lead you there just as well." Back to standing, and she gave them both a meal voucher. "When you need the other, let me know. I think you'll love Tilly's cooking! If you bring back a bagel, I'll be set!"

Sure enough, barely a few yards down the dock, their nose would be able to lead them to The Loving Spoon. There was a bit of space between the docks, and the front of the cafe, where cobblestone steps lead to a glass door with a silver vertical push/pull handle. The floor was made up of wooden planks, lighter than those of the doc, with some faded areas due to foot traffic, indicating it has been here for some time. There were several tables still open, with a deep blue fabric tablecloth and white, mid-back dining chairs, four to a table.

oldian.png
One of the tables against the front glass windows was already occupied. An elderly man sat in a chair, his face turned out toward the sea. He was dressed in a suit without a tie, and chalk white hair cut short, but still with enough length to look mussed. Wrinkles spoke of his age and experiences, blue eyes a little glossy and vacant as he seemed to watch the roll of the water just past the piers.

oldtilly.jpg
A woman had just set a plate of toast and bacon in front of the man, and a glass of milk, complete with a bendy straw. Her hair was a mixture of gray and white, swept up into a neat and perfunctory bun. She didn't have nearly as many wrinkles, but light blue eyes said she had seen her fair share of things. The smile was genuine as her face tilted upward at the soft ringing above the door, triggered by when it opened.

"Ach, welcome to th' lovin' spoon! Ya loverlies can sit wh'ever you like. I'll be wit' you inna pinch o' a minute." Her accent had heavy flavors of the Scotts, her mannerisms were very motherly. She made sure the man was aware of the food in front of him before wiping her hands on the pale yellow apron with a seashell and seahorses pattern. One hand gently padded the man's shoulder and she spoke a bit softer. "A'right Marius, your food's righ' in fron' o' ya. I'll check on ya inna bit. Eat up."

The woman turned then and headed to the table they selected, the menus were already on top of the table, nestled in one of those silver condiment holders in the middle. "Welcome, welcome. I'm Tilly and pleased ta meetcha. I'll give you some time to look o'er the selections, but don't hesitate to ask me anythin'. Okay, loves?"

OOC Information

Beatrice OrganicUFO OrganicUFO and Aódh Larry Larry : The menus have the standard breakfast, lunch and dinner items you'd find at a local diner. Simple descriptions, with sea faring names, one can order anything on the menu regardless of the time of day. The place has enough light to see, but not enough to be bright and harsh to the senses. The walls have what appear to be local murals, and there is a small display case next to the register in the back with various baked goods meant to tantalize and build the desire for a take home box. There are about five others, including Marius and Tilly, all with their food and talking quietly amongst themselves.

About a minute after you sit down at the table, you realize the odd lullaby in the back of your mind is no longer playing. The smell of bacon, eggs and ham waft from the kitchen area in the back.

Indy let out a choked laugh as Roje swore and jerked upward, alive and as shattered as Indy felt. She reached to help steady her sister but flinched, hot drumming against her heart bumping into her skin and sending waves of pain across her body. It hadn't been apparent, not at first, but a strand of soft humming was weaving apart from the symphony of birdsong and waterfalls.

The shell in her palm bit into her skin as she recognized the voice, a ghost hiding in her shadow; easily forgotten until it apparated with a slow, inevitable rise in volume.

Roje's quick snap toward someone over Indy's shoulder was enough to break the beginning of the trance, pulling Indy back from the rapids and into the present. Roje looked exhausted; could it be something to do with her...condition? Hunger? How the hell does one describe a sick vampire? That was going to complicate things, complicate them very much. As was the fact they were traveling with a goddamn circus.

Indy turned to appraise the group behind her, all but one now roused and teetering, standing, or in some form of other unsteadiness. Whatever trip they had just completed seemed to have jarred the group as a whole. One man, glaring absolute daggers at her, carried an uncomfortable familiarity that Indy could not quite place--distrust followed in the wake. It was impossible to trust any of them; they had been with her and Roje in the...before, but how were they tied to the Coven? Were they employed, or... like them?

The drumming again snapped her from her thoughts, the coin a lump of hot coal against her chest. She plucked at it under her shirt, hissing as it burned her fingertips. There wasn't time. Her mind was reeling as she pushed onto her feet, buckling slightly as one knee gave out under the sudden movement.

"We're in New Zealand." Her head was throbbing. Judging by the cliffs, the sound of water--she knew this place. It was maybe a mile, just under--could they make it to the next town? There might still be a bus station there--no. That was easily a three-day walk. And--she glanced at the guy, blue eyes peeking out between curtains of shaggy hair and a thick beard--it appeared not everyone could make the journey. They could leave without them, but if they wandered they would inevitably fall right into the exact last place Indy wanted them to land.

Her heart was drumming now, even as she simply considered leaving. The pain was clenching in her chest, lungs heavy and hands trembling against her sides as her breaths came in quick puffs. No, leaving them here was an impossibility; as was going to the next town. They would have to move forward, together; the consequences were already heavy in the air.

"There's a town," the words came stuttered as she sharply jerked her head to the side, attempting to rid herself from the voice that interrupted her ability to hear even her own voice. "Boutta mile, shit, that way." She waved a hand. "I can take us. I can lead you all." This was a terrible plan. "You can stay here if you want--the next town is three days that way, give or take--but this is it."

Indy appraised the group again, glancing at the lithe girl who had questioned their urgency, the girl still lying unconscious on the grass. She blew a light whistle through her teeth. They appeared normal enough, but she had been around supernaturals enough, now, to recognize that certain glint; a soft sheen of quiet fire in the ways they held themselves. A certain hesitance and grace in their stances, like alley cats perched on a rooftop. These people were different, as she was and, therefore, endangered as she was.

"I don't know," she started carefully. "Who you all...what you're about. If you're...different. In any way..." she trailed off. There was really no way to go about this without feeling painfully awkward. "I don't know if you're all, what, mermaids, demons, some sort of shifter, but I would encourage you, from here on, the minute you step into that town, you keep that shit to yourself--tell no one. Show no one. Don't--shit." The singing was getting louder, the heat from the coin burning a hole through her sternum. "Just be human. As human as you can be. These people, they don't like 'different.' They will help humans, we have to be human."

She dropped, kneeling back beside Roje. "It'll just be an hour, but we can get there--can you walk?" Then, to that shaggy man and the sleeping girl, "Can you carry her? Or do you need me to carry her? I'm sorry, I don't--I don't remember your names." It was true, she realized; she didn't remember a single name, not even from the time before. Though the shape of them danced on the edge of her mind, the singing was quickly filling every space of her consciousness and making it difficult to take hold of her memories.

They would go. They would go because it was their only option, then they would leave. As soon as possible, she would shuttle the group back out into the wild, far away from Marasong Harbor.

Leif's eyes didn't move from the dark haired woman, not even when the one she was kneeling next to woke up and started to get her bearings. Barely. Out of everyone, the one whose name was 'Roje' seemed to be faring the worst. Aside from the girl still lying unconscious, that was. But none of that mattered, only the answer he was still waiting to get. His eyes didn't move away from the woman when he noticed that two others were also awake, and he paid attention to their words without moving his eyes from the one they focused. Only when Roje seemed to have referred to him as 'fucker' out of the blue did his eyes finally move and he regarded her, a slightly confused expression crossing his face. What was it with her?

Only then did he start to notice the scents that filled the air, not the nature scents, but those that emanated from the blood of those around him. It was a strange mix, both familiar and unfamiliar, and rather overwhelming, making it hard to properly identify each and everyone. Only one scent stuck out, however, perhaps because it brought back strong memories. Memories of the fair haired child that were so etched into his mind, and yet he was unsure she was even still real. Unsure she'd ever been real, at this point. There was another vampire there, and the scent seemed to come from Roje. Yet before he could properly process everything, the woman that'd spoken first spoke again, and he diverted his attention back to her. Arguing was pointless, as was trying to figure out who was who then, and the pulsing ring on his finger and the annoying pain behind his eyes was also a significant reminder they had to take action sooner rather than later.

New Zealand, she said. New Fucking Zealand. And there was no indication at all that this time they were actually there and not in some collective comatose delirium. Just like all the last destinations they'd been to, this one seemed real, but 'seeming' was all. However, there was nothing to be done but play along, for now. He wasn't willing to put his sun immunity to the test in this timeline. As the dark haired woman spoke further and offered seemingly reliable answers, muscles that were tense began to loosen, and his piercing gaze softened. Thankfully, she seemed to be collaborating. Not that what she was saying was too reassuring, but she at least seemed to know more than all of them together.

Then she started to awkwardly talk about them being 'different', and he frowned with confusion, trying to figure out what in the world she could be talking about. It was only when she spoke further that he realized what she was referring to, and he nodded, brows raising in realization, remembering that while the blood scents in the air made it clear to him that none of those people were merely human, maybe that wasn't such an obvious thing for everyone. As bad of an option this place she was referring to could be, it was apparently their only option. And he wasn't too bad at pretending to be human, as long as there was shade available, that was. And then she added the bit about the hour long hike to town, and he gritted his teeth in concern. At the rate in which his discomfort from being under sunlight seemed to be progressing, one hour was a concerningly long time. And it'd probably take even longer since not everyone was likely to be able to keep pace.

Leif wanted to ask her how she knew all that. How come she was the only one who seemed to know where they were. However, there was no urgency to that, and he'd hopefully be able to pose her those questions later, when they were safely sheltered from the deadly rays. He then glanced at the other young woman that'd spoken earlier, one that he didn't recognize, although her scent was familiar, and at large man that had drunkenly moved to kneel next to the unconscious girl. Edwin, was it? The bear? Leif wasn't exactly pleased with the decision he was about to make, one that went contrary to everything Edwin had said about sticking together, and one that would likely make him unpopular. However, unpopular was still better than a dead pile of ashes, so he glanced in the direction the town supposedly was before speaking again.

"Bout a mile that way?" He double checked with a wave, glancing at the dark haired woman who'd spoken first. "I don't have an hour. I'll be a lump of coal in an hour." If by that she didn't get what his problem was, well, she'd have an hour of hiking to mull that over. "I'll go ahead and meet you there." he added with calm resolution. Even if the group didn't end up heading there in the end, it was still the only option he had, so not much to ponder there. He couldn't use any obvious abilities to get to town faster, like turning into smoke or even shifting (if he was still even able to do that), lest any locals spotted him. But as a vampire, he definitely could traverse the area faster than the whole group together, and he wasn't willing to bet the farm by sticking with the group.

Leif had given a few steps in the direction he intended to go, but he paused shortly after with a sigh as a thought crossed his mind and he turned around, eyes moving between Roje and the woman kneeling next to her. "I'll take her if she's also running out of time." he waited briefly for their answer; he'd leave the group regardless, sure, but he wouldn't be an asshole to the point of leaving the other vampire behind to burn to death, if she was running that risk, that was.

New Zealand. Silver stared at Nahla as she reluctantly gave them all some insight as to where they were, sending her mentally reeling backwards a bit at how ludicrous it all sounded. She was on the other side of the world at this point, far from the rural suburbs of her hometown. She hadn’t even left the state before and now she was in an entirely different country altogether. If she hadn’t braced her legs and tuned back into what Nahla was saying, she was sure that she’d be ambling about like Dwight by now.

Her eyes glanced slowly to the outline of some sort of circular medallion on her neck while she continued to explain, Silver noting the low hiss that left her, the touching and fumbling sort of reaction she was having as if the necklace was almost forcing the words out of her. The distrust for them all was stamped across the woman’s face so Silver wouldn’t push her luck and ask what exactly was happening to her just yet—they’d probably find out soon enough.

Something urged Silver to help Nahla after catching the trembling of her hands as she spoke to them, her breaths not quite smooth as if she were suffering to some degree. She continued to push on to relay that if they wanted to find shelter, they’d need to follow her to town. In the condition that half of them were in, she wondered if they would even make it without at least one of them blacking out.

Shifting the weight between her feet, Silver looked to Roje now whom she understood had been Vivian in the other timeline. Back then she was a werewolf but with how she was deteriorating along with how she shared a similar scent with the dirty blonde man she’d recognized from the underground caverns, she guessed they were not quite wolves. It was then that Nahla pressed almost desperately for them not to show any non-human tendencies which made Silver tense up a bit as her gaze darkened. To revert back to humanity with the knowledge that they weren’t quite that, would it be an easy task?

The idea of it made her skin crawl uncomfortably for some reason even though they all wore masks and the concept itself should be easy. To ignore her animalistic tendencies was going to be rough, but it looked like the blonde man was going to have an even tougher time. Vampire. A flash of awe struck Silver when she looked up to him now, remembering how he always carried that hint of blood that set him apart from the others and in thinking about it now.. Roje held that underlying scent as well.

Is she.. hungry? By referencing the basic information humans knew about the ‘supernatural’, vampires lived off blood and in turn, that’s what they consumed for energy, so it would only make sense for Roje to be in such a weakened state not only because of the trans-dimensional traveling they’d done but who knows what she’d gone through back when they had been in those caverns and for how long their bodies had just.. floated in nothingness before being shoved back into ever-flowing time. The other problem was age-old: sunlight. Both Roje and this blonde man appeared to be on a timer until they dissipated into dust and judging by how strong the sunlight pouring into the forest was, it had to be morning or perhaps getting closer to noon.

Silver watched as Dwight, no, Edwin, went to check on the girl whom she knew as Ashley. She alone had yet to breach the surface of their new reality, her chest rising and falling gently with quiet slumber.

Silver noted how easily she picked up on scents and sounds even more than before. Raven’s training seemed to have done more than she believed it would. With that being said, she remembered Edwin from when she’d been a wolf, his soul seeming to share residence with that of a bear and maybe even more beings or spirits connected to the earth. It was relieving to know things were flooding back into her mind with greater ease than before. “If you can carry Roje,” she murmured, looking to Leif briefly, “then I can carry her.” Silver nodded towards Ashley where Edwin now crouched. If they could stay together, it would be their best bet but hopefully the townspeople wouldn’t associate a large, unfamiliar group with an ill omen. She dipped her head instinctively to Nahla upon her apology to them, “my name is Silver. Are you well enough to walk on your own, Nahla?”

She wasn’t sure if Edwin would be alright to carry Ashley in his clumsier than normal stupor but he didn’t seem to be the kind that would allow that to stop him from helping another. The one thing she could confirm now, at least, is whether or not Nahla was still Nahla.

It felt as though the floor had been ripped away from under her feet. As the crystal broke, Clementine felt weightless. She fell into a darkness that felt never ending as her body seemed to fall away into a pitch black void.

A subtle light permeated through the darkness that seemed to encompass Clementine’s vision. For a moment, it felt as though her consciousness and body were disconnected, attempting to form a connection to one another unsuccessfully. In an instant, her mind was thrust back into her immobile form.

The sound of moving water and the smell of grass hit her senses immediately. Clementine reached out blindly on the ground and took in a frantic breath of fresh air. She eyes opened and took in the scene while her heart frantically beat in her chest. Immediately, she looked up at the man kneeling next to her. Panic quickly arose, but as she inspected his face she realized that he was an ally.

“So I’m not the only one that felt that too. That’s reassuring,” she mumbled. Clementine shakily stood up and wiped her trembling hands onto her clothes. Noticing her father’s old sweatshirt, she happily ran her fingers along the worn sleeves.

“I finally feel like me again. Thank god. Where are we? Is everyone okay?” she asked Edwin as she shook out her limbs. The people surrounding her were thankfully all familiar as the panic in her died down. However, it seemed to be replaced by a strange melody that played softly in the back of her mind. A slight chill ran up her spine as it softly echoed beneath her thoughts. She clenched her teeth and rubbed her head trying to will it away to no avail. Never get a quiet to myself anymore, huh? She tried her best to ignore it, but the haunting tune permeated through her. I guess we’ll see where this goes.

Nahla named the land, though neither soul knew the name. The others of the group reacted as though it was concerning. What concerned him was that it would be an hour walk. Normally that would have been no concern, but his body was no longer fully his. And the girl had yet to stir. Would they be able to carry her? Would Nahla be able to carry Vivian such a distance?

The latter was solved by the nightwalker, Leif, as he offered to take her. He seemed to only be able to handle the sunlight for a short while, and was desperate to get moving fast. He also seemed concerned that Vivian had only a short while. Was she a nightwalker here? Was she always this way, but merely hid it in the other world?

They were distracted from these thoughts by the former problem solving itself. Clementine roused and stood, mumbling about reassurances. He smiled as she asked questions.

"New Zealand, and we are alive." He answered. "We will be heading for a nearby town. An hour's walk." He hesitated a moment. "We are glad you are okay."

Indy rolled her bottom lip between her teeth, brows pinched, shoulders hunched over her sister against the man towering above them. Would it be so terrible, she considered fleetingly, for him to turn into a lump of coal? Yes. Maybe. Evidently, him and Roje were the same--or similar--brand of different. Different enough to matter, different enough to not have an hour to spare. The young girl, the one unconscious, was waking up; she could hear quiet murmuring as the elven-looking man spoke to her quietly. There would be no guarantee she would be able to walk on her own, no guarantee there would be anyone to carry her. The rest of them were balancing on fawn legs. Indy's own knees threatened to bend backward like a snapped longbow, the tight strings of her tendons loose and frayed.

The one girl, footfall soft as a dancer, was at their side. She offered to help, to carry the smallest girl; Indy doubted the man curled over the small figure still on the grass would be able to carry Roje, nor could Indy herself. Not as quickly as she needed, not like this.

"Remember what I said," Indy eased upward, ankles cracking. "Be human. Find something to...to eat where no one can see." As she helped lift Roje into the man's arms, she jerked her chin again toward the main road. "One mile. That way, follow the road. If you see a car heading toward the town, that's fine. If you see them heading out, don't bother. It's a day-long trip to the next town over." She didn't need to threaten him about Roje's safety, she could teach her own lessons.

To Roje, "Stay safe. Ask for Beth, tell her my name--you remember my full name? I'll see you there."

And that was done. She turned, letting them take themselves off to the road. Fuck knows what they'd find after so long, but she'd find out soon enough. There were others to guide now, a cold spike running down her spine as she finally recognized what the small girl--what Silver had called her. "No," she turned, wrapping her hair into a knot at the base of her neck as the humidity gathered on her cheeks. "Indy, I'm Indy. I'm fine." She took two determined steps toward the road and froze, balancing unevenly on her heel as she turned, hesitant and shaken. "...Thank you, though. Silver." It was a stunted, awkward apology for her curt response that she immediately wanted to wipe from her mind.

The song was drumming at her temples, burning at her chest, muddling her thoughts and understanding as the landscape seemed to blur and curl around her like a fisheye lens. She told them to start moving--maybe, maybe she only thought it. Hoping they followed. That Silver, or the man, someone was helping someone along as Indy marked the path through the thick grass and thicket, onto the small road.

The wet dirt road sucked at her shoes. Indy tried to stay close to the sides, ready to duck aside if a car came rushing from any of the many blind curves hidden by thick trees and brush. Branches bit at her clothes as she walked; she didn't consider them, only throwing a glance back every few feet to confirm the small remnants of the group still followed.

Each step was marked by a breath. Every inhale a lull in the song, every exhale a rising crescendo. There was no mercy, only music.

Eventually, too soon, lights flickered through the trees around the nearest bend. Indy pushed her legs, urging the others forward with a wave as the shape of a small shack was carved from the fog. Too small shacks, similar to a hunting cabin and its shed; the only defining features being two gas pumps, paint peeling from their once bright red coloring, the gas prices listed on old hand-painted numeric cards.

"What the hell--" When did they get a gas station?!

Indy froze in front of the station, just beside the two pumps as she tried to decipher whether anyone was inside. They might have a phone, may know her mother. Her body felt like a mountain of dust, ready to be blown into oblivion with the slightest gust. The others must have felt similarly, if worse.

"We can try to call someone here." Indy turned to the group. "See if we can get a ride. Maybe not spend the next forty minutes tripping over stones. All in favor?"

Aódh & Beatrice

What a cosy little place! Aódh thought to himself, his head panning around to absorb every last detail of the quaint, self-contained establishment. The fact that it was a bit more quiet was something that he might have to get used to. When there's a lot of people in such a tight-knit space with each other, the collective noise makes it easy for people to talk a bit more freely. Somewhere in that particular pensée, it made sense to Aódh. There would be good reason for assuming that it was the hunger that was making him engage in rather dubious logic, given that he wouldn't have ate anything since leaving Wellington the day before.

He was glad though for the company though. Marasong didn't seem like the place that would attract too great of a tourist crowd, deduced from the size of The Loving Spoon alone, so to have two people lodge in at the same inn just one day after the other? Certainly not impossible but maybe, just maybe, suspect. These thoughts would have to wait.

There was food to be eating.

The smells surrounding Beatrice made her feel an incredible sense of calm. She had no idea what to expect from such a small town’s food establishments, but this place smelled amazing, and as she glanced at the food she felt even more excited. The quiet atmosphere made Beatrice feel very relaxed. Usually she preferred loud and fast paced environments but the relaxing atmosphere felt perfect for breakfast. She was very happy for the company too, as having another tourist to eat with would maybe help divert the stares she was feeling when she’d first arrived. Plus she couldn’t help but feel curious as to what got him to visit such a remote part of the world seeing as Marasong Harbour really didn’t feel like the kind of place that had a bustling tourist industry. She hoped her breakfast companion was talkative enough to share his travel story although the hunger in her stomach came first, and she was dying to try the food.

Tilly was giving them some time to look over the menu while she checked on the food making such delicious scents from the kitchen. Her voice carried well enough through the space without being overbearing. "Jus' wave me down when ya kins wots yer appetites cravin'!"

Marius mumbled incoherently from his seat by the window. He did manage to find the bacon and was munching on it between the mutterings.

Upon a cursory glance across to his fellow tourist, Aódh realised that they were both thinking the very same thing. The Irishman, looking towards the direction of the kitchen, were those enticing, and at the same famishing smells were wafting from. "I know my friend here is starving Tilly and so am I, so when you're ready, would I be able to get the full English breakfast, if it's no problem?"

Having said what he wished to order for breakfast, Aódh turned his attention to the woman who had lodged into the Marasong Inn a mere day after he had arrived. "If you don't mind me asking," he said, adopting a semi-serious tone to his voice, "How did you come across Marasong? It isn't exactly the most conspicuous tourist destination on Te Waipounamu, if you know what I mean? And secondly, would I be able to get your name? It was rather rude on my part not to ask you this first!"

As Beatrice glances at the menu and tries to make out what Tilly is saying, she really struggled to decide what to order. When she hears her companion order the English breakfast however, she decides that she'll do the same, seeing as she wouldn't know what to order either. "I'll have the same!" Beatrice chimes in before turning back towards the stranger.

Beatrice looks up at him and smiles when he asks the question."My name's Beatrice! I should probably ask your name too since I don't want to be rude either! I like your accent as well. Mind if I ask where you're from?" she begins, "and as for why I'm here, well, truth be told I just needed a vacation and as I was walking out of Victoria's airport a flyer flew right at me. I'm normally one to trust the wind, so when I saw it giving me an advertisement for Marasong Harbour I really couldn't help but see what it was all about. It really was just by chance, but I'm very happy to have arrived. I see the city all the time back home, and its a nice change here. Like I'm back in my grandmother's country home." Beatrice says, smiling.

"Mind if I ask what brought you here? Truth be told now that I really see how small this place is I'm surprised I'm not the only tourist here!"

"My name's Aódh McFaol," he said, a lingering consciousness over the oddity of his name being pronounced, still present, "And if I'm being completely honest with you Beatrice, I have no idea why I'm here. I was flew into Wellington there a few days for two reasons; the first being that I wanted to see the world after having gone through state exams, while I had the chance to do so; and secondly, so I could have a wee bit of time to myself to think about what I want to do going forward, since I'm not entirely sure about heading off to college."

He paused for a moment to gather his thoughts. "And yet," he began, a feeling of reticence threatening to recall what he was to say back into his mouth, "When I passed Marasong, on a tour bus traipsing its way across Te Waipounamu, I felt this...this panging in my chest when we arrived there as a stop. It was...one of the strangest things I ever felt."

Beatrice listened and nodded along as Aódh spoke. She found the fact that he said he too was unexpectedly drawn to the harbour to be very interesting. His words made Beatrice think. Maybe there really is something special about this place. All Beatrice can really hope for is that it isn’t magical. She was hoping to get away from it all and the idea of being swept up again frightened her.

As these thoughts swept through Beatrice’s head her smile faltered, if only for a moment.
“Maybe this place is prone to attracting people having quarter life crisis’s.” Beatrice says, snapping out of her thoughts, “I mean, you’re from ummm… where are you from? Point is we’ve got two totally different accents going on and it seems we’re from different parts of the world. I mean, I got drawn in here from Canada! That’s pretty far. Plus I mean part of why I needed my vacation has to do with quarter life panic.” Beatrice says.

"Oh, I must have completely skipped over that part of your question," he replied, the young man chuckling nervously at his omission, "I'm from Co. Galway in Ireland, so it seems that we're both coming a long ways to reach this place it seems."

It was interesting how quickly a bunch of strangers suddenly became a team. Supposedly, being teleported back and forth together played a big role in that. Regardless, there he was, carrying a stranger through strange woods toward a strange town, guided by the words of another stranger. Her words were repeated over and over in his mind: ‘be human… one mile… ask for Beth… be human…’. Leif tried to focus on them the best he could, as he was aware the longer he stayed out in the sun, the harder it’d become to focus on anything.

He pushed forward at a steady pace, not running, but fast enough to justify splitting from the other group. Vampires didn’t need breaks to catch their breath, let alone vampires under the threat of sunlight. Even if they’d just time travelled. Perhaps Leif would feel the effects the others were suffering from later, but right now he had little else in mind than to find shelter. He stuck to the woods and the relative safety provided by the trees, but walked beside the road at all times.

It was in a denser part of the woods, where the shade was more comfortable even with the indirect sunlight, that Leif’s mind grasped a detail he’d been overlooking in his hurry to keep moving.

“What’s her name? We need to tell a Beth her full name.” he blurted. It’d just occurred to him that the woman in his arms didn’t seem to be faring too well, and she was the only one who knew the other woman’s full name. Or should. He’d better ask her before she passed out or something. Then perhaps he should ask her name.

If it weren't for her sister, Roje would have blocked out what everyone was saying. Hunger pains were no joke when it came to a Vampire. Not only did they get Hangry, but the woman herself already had her own temper issues which would have only added to the fire.

It didn't take her sister long to hoist her up with the help of a male, who had a similar scent to that of a Vampire, and were now on his way to save both their asses from the strong sunlight. If she had enough energy, she would squirm and fight to walk on her own. But all she could do was complain within her thoughts and listen to the sounds of his footsteps in the grass, the birds in the trees, and the consistent sound of his heartbeat in his chest.

His chest then rumbled and his voice filled the air, causing Roje to tune in for just a moment and remain silent as she took a few breaths before replying, after all, if she passed out from this hunger pain, who else would tell him? "Indigo," she took another breath "Sanderson." with that information now left for him to absorb, she wondered how it was possible to even be human when she was in a state of starvation. Opening those Hazel eyes of hers, she took a glance at what she could without moving too much while her head still remained against his chest. Closing them for a brief second and a breath, she spoke "Name?" she asked softly.

Leif froze just as the woman was finished uttering the surname. His mind was in no condition to properly process the name and make the due associations, but Indigo Sanderson was undeniably familiar. He blinked several times, mind reeling as he tried to remember to no avail. He'd known a good dozen Beths, but Indigos were definitely not as common. Trying to force his brain to remember, however, seemed to do little more than reward him with a stronger headache.

Then the woman spoke again, almost a whisper, making him glance down at her with a slight shake of his head as he recentered his thoughts before resuming the fast walking. "Leif." he spoke, eyes back to scanning the woods. Yes, he remembered his own name. For now, at least. "You are?" He couldn't remember her from any of the strange memories he had. The ones from before being teleported to New Zealand. There hadn't been another vampire... speaking of which, "Suppose you could use some blood..." he muttered under his breath. Whatever was wrong with her, blood would definitely only help. He glanced briefly at the surrounding woods, but it was useless. He probably wouldn't be able to catch a single hare with the sun out like that. She'd have to wait some more time.

Leif? Huh. Interesting name. Roje hadn't met anyone with that kind of name before, but then again she didn't live for decades to run into someone with a name like that. He asked for her name in return, to which she replied "Roje." if she had more energy, she would have added more to that. She couldn't be bothered in all honesty. Keeping her eyes closed this time, she hid her face almost into his chest as she groaned in pain that slowly turned into a hiss "How does..." inhale "She expect us..." exhale "To act human...?" the vampire asked(Bearbeitet)

'Roje'. The name didn't ring any bells, not like 'Indigo Sanderson' at least. He'd have asked more, were the circumstances more favorable, but instead he had to almost stop walking to be able to pick up what she was saying when she spoke again, face almost buried into his chest. That was a good question.

"I suppose she meant something on the lines of 'don't bite the residents in public'. Can't be more human than that." Speaking of which, Indigo had talked about them 'finding something to eat where no one could see.' How easy would that be once they were in town? Prey would be more readily available for sure, but 'where no one could see' could become more of a problem.

Almost as if he'd materialized it with his mind's will only, they soon stumbled upon what seemed to be a really peculiar gas station. It had only two old pumps, prices were hand painted, and the only buildings were two small shacks. It looked very much like some apocalyptic movie set, which did seem to fit in pretty well with their situation. Regardless, it could be shelter for some time - they could continue into town once night fell, and if they were lucky the group they left behind wouldn't bypass the station and would eventually join them there. That Indigo did seem to know the area pretty well, so perhaps it'd be safer to enter town together.

The place seemed pretty abandoned, but being on the side of the road, and possibly the only gas station in miles, they'd have company at some point. Company which could become a ride into town, or maybe dinner. Maybe both. Leif was quick to cross the road towards the gas station, but stopped before he reached the door to one of the shacks. Before walking in, they needed a minimally believable story, in case someone was inside. He couldn't pick up any scents, and the pounding headache certainly didn't help, but just in case.

It didn't take him long. Perhaps his adrenaline soaked brain was suddenly extra effective, perhaps it'd just lowered its quality standards, but he had something.

"We're tourists, van broke down at some point on the road and we've been wandering the woods for two days looking for help." he spoke, giving her a light shake to make sure he had her attention. "You're severely dehydrated. " The place was remote enough. That could work, and could justify anything compromising she could end up spitting out. He didn't want to give the idea second thoughts, as he'd probably want to scrap it, and there wasn't enough time for elaborate plans. Dumb tourists with no foresight were everywhere, weren't they? He could be one, for a little bit of time.

So Leif stepped up to one of the doors and knocked on it. With no answer after a few minutes, he tested the handle, and the door opened effortlessly. Thankfully. A place where they could at least sit down and wait for nightfall. He set Roje down carefully against one of the walls before closing the door behind them.

The Loving Spoon

avanjogia1.jpg
The bell on the door jingled as it was pushed open. Usually the sound is soft, but in the early morning it tended to be louder than expected. A man and his dog entered with a bit of a head nod and small wave of his right hand to those inside who glanced their way. The man was average height, with an olive complexion and wavy dark brown hair tied loosely at the back of his neck with a piece of twine. He had an anchor beard style, light blue-gray shirt with the first three buttons undone, providing a glimpse of various bead and seashell necklaces around his neck.

By his side, the black dog was about the size of a German Shepherd, but looked to be more of a mixed breed. There are scars visible, and a few patches of thinning fur here and there. The dog is on the lean to too thin side, but has a very engaging face, but the eyes never focus on anything in particular. A slightly faded green collar bore a tag boldly stating on either side "Marasong Harbor Mascot".

They stayed by the door, and the man didn't even have to call out before Tilly was there, grabbing some extra bacon she had cooling on her way to the pair. "Ach! Augie! Wot's this? Ye got yerself a doggo?" She wasn't put out or upset, if anything she was grinning ear to ear as she drew up a chair next to where they stood and offered the dog the bacon. She playfully thwapped Augie's arm. "How long a'fore ya waited ta brin' him 'ere?"

riodog.png
Augie laughed and pet the dog behind the ears. "Not long. Wanted to make sure you met though. He's blind, so working with making sure he knows his way around town. If you ever see him about, he likes all of your food so far." He grinned big when Tilly gave him a look that said she know understood where all that extra food was going. "Figured I'd bring him along to pick up our usual."

Tilly gave the dog a good pet as well before standing up. "A'ight. Lemme finish these folks' orders, an' I'll work on yers." She gestured to the table in the corner, "'Ave a seat, dearies." On her way past the table, Tilly patted Beatrice on a shoulder and smiled at them both. "I'll 'ave your plates out in two shakes o' a.. dog's tail." With a laugh and another pat, she moved to the kitchen area to wash her hands and dish up two full English breakfasts.

Augie and the dog settled in at a table with a glance toward the old man still mumbling under his breath now and then. "Hey Marius. I see Tilly's got you covered for breakfast. Do you need anything?" He was checking in on the older man, trying to get him to engage in conversation but his expression said he didn't think it'd work. Yet today, it did, to a degree.

Marius' voice was scratchy, like he needed a drink. It trembled here and there, and sometimes the words wouldn't be audible, but he responded. "..in the day, everyone... Loch Ness... now, now it's... 'gotten. They've all just fore...!" He banged a fist down on the table, prompting Augie to lean over and cover the man's wrist with one hand.

"Hey, it's okay, Marius. I remember." Augie had heard the story enough times to know what Marius was trying to get out, enough times to know the right response to quiet the man before his anger got the best of him. Tilly had poked her head out to see what the noise was, but Augie had it controlled so she focused on the tray of food to be carried out. "I remember, Marius."

Marius patted Augie's hand before his face drifted back to stare out the window and the ocean beyond the docks. Tilly set down plates in front of Beatrice and Aódh, then a basket full of freshly baked sliced loaves of bread. "Bread's still warm 'nuff to melt th' butter if'n yer quick e'nuff. Enjoy, dearies, lemme know if'n ya need any'ing." And then she returned to the kitchen to work on Augie's order.

The plastic dashboard of Wiri's truck was a mottled black from accumulated dust which had been covered and stripped off hundreds of times by just as many post-it notes. Two reams of the stuff were squashed into the truck's cup-holders.

With a pen held between his teeth and one hand on the steering wheel, Wiri slapped a new post-it note onto his dash. He grabbed the pen and jotted a quick memo: CHECK SHARK PROPERTY. He hit a bump while writing, and the 'Y' veered into a scribbled mess.

"Fuck it, close enough."

Wiri stashed his pen in the cupholder. He'd have to hit the books in the evening once he'd wrapped up at work. He needed a starting point before he began snooping. Some idea of what he might be looking for. Fuck knows how many-

"Huh." Wiri squinted and leaned forward, close to his windscreen as his two-door Hilux crawled over the bank and into sight of the station. "The fuck is this?" Almost instinctively he rested his foot on the brake pedal, slowing the pickup to a less enthusiastic pace as he counted ... three ... four forms approaching the station.

It wasn't often that Wiri met traffic on the short trip between the town's edge and the station - let-alone foot traffic, of all things. Rental cars, sure. Tourist buses, sure. But Marasong wasn't exactly a hub; there wasn't too much to do outside of town itself unless you were the outdoors type, which meant most folks didn't have a reason to walk to or from town. It had happened plenty enough times, sure, but you could never be too careful. Some folks might've called him paranoid for the way he eyed up newcomers, but they hadn't seen the shit that he'd seen. Treat the unexpected with caution.

He thought better of parking up. Not yet anyway. It was always good to be facing an escape route. He rolled past the station instead, cruising into a u-turn and coming back the other way so his truck was facing town. His right foot hovered over the accelerator, and for a split second his eyes darted to the rifle stowed behind the seats. It wasn't the time of year for tourists to be out and about in full swing - not many of them, anyway. They usually came in the summer months. Though it did coincide with northern hemisphere holiday time, which typically saw a small influx of college students. At a glance, most of the group looked about college-aged. This wasn't outside of reasonable expectations.

Fuck you're paranoid, mate. Getting jumpy at some goddamn college students. He sighed and grabbed the window lever, quickly winding it around as he lowered the glass pane several inches. He'd be careful anyway. Being careful never hurt.

"Oi. Are you lost?" He nodded vaguely toward the group. "Fuel isn't going to help much around here, unless you're heading back the way you came. No cars are allowed in town. Did your vehicle break down on the way over?"

A breakdown was easily managed, Wiri kept a few spare tyres behind the station. It was either that, or freedom campers somewhere nearby who were taken by their wanderlust. Sometimes folks just radiated out from their campsite on foot, circling the area like predators pacing out their territory. Fortunately things had been quiet in the immediate forest, as of late.

Hatsu Black, Time to Pack

Real estate in Marasong Harbor didn't change hands very often. Most stores and homes have remained in the family for generations, but there are times when someone doesn't have any more family. When someone's line ends with them, and when they find their own ending, then they trust the handling of affairs to a local, Angelo Kritikos.

gerard_butler1.jpg
Angelo has resided in the town for just over twenty years, and was well versed in legal matters, including some real estate on the side. Everyone in town knew him, but didn't always see him. He traveled a good deal, but always returned home to Marasong at least twice a month to take care of whatever was needed. Today, it was closing on a house, Mr. Miller's house to be exact.

It rested on the very edge of town, one of the closest to the path that turned into a road leading out of Marasong Harbor. It was also the closest to the Post Office and Petrol Station, but it was still a good bit of a walk if on foot. The house backed up to a stretch of trees, and had a good woodland view. The house had been in Mr. James Miller's family before Angelo came to town, but James had gone missing six months ago.

Then the worst happened, and they found his body, washed up on the shore about a month ago. There wasn't a next of kin, so the matters of the house fell to Angelo. The contents had been cleaned up, what could be sold was sold, or given away if needed. There was a core set of furniture still within the house, and the inside and outside cleaned from top to bottom.

This activity hadn't gone unnoticed by a few hopeful permanent residents, yet the base price of the house was beyond what most of them could afford. Add to the price the scarcity of real estate even becoming available in Marasong, and only one could afford to pay for it outright, Hatsu Black. And in a simple exchange, the house was sold and pending closing sale. Today was the closing sale.

Angelo opted to meet with Mr. Black at the Town Hall, so they could record the bill of sale and file all the last moment paperwork right then. Dressed casually in a solid black shirt, worn jeans, and his nearly trademark cowboy boots, Angelo offered to shake hands when Hatsu arrived and they sat down to go over the closing contracts. "Sign here, here, and here.." His voice was on the deep side, but his grins were ear to ear. "Glad to see Marasong is gaining new residents every time I turn around."

He chuckled and held out a black pen for Hatsu to use. "I'll get these filed as soon as we're done here, and then I should be able to turn the keys over to you. As stated before, all the contents that remain inside are yours to do with as you please." Angelo chuckled, "What's the first thing you're going to get for your new home?"

OOC Information

Hatsu silverwhere silverwhere : Angelo stands about six foot one, with a stocky build of mostly muscles, but softened around the edges a little. He's in his forties, with salt and pepper hair kept short, and a perpetual shadow that's a little past five o'clock. His eyes are hazel with a good bit of green at the edges. You're both in one of the small offices in the back of the town hall, with a typical office setup. There's a desk with a chair behind it with Angelo, and one in front of the desk, where you're sitting. There are a couple of file cabinets and Angelo's laptop is open and facing him, as he prepares to make all the required fillings to finalize the sale of your new (to you) home.

There are also forms to fill out so you will be given a mail cubbyhole in the town hall, and registered with the actual post office on the edge of town. He has also provided you with a list of contacts should you need help moving in, or ordering new items for the house. Most items will have to be ordered and delivered by one of the ships.

Hatsu Black
Location: Town Hall
Hatsu had been keeping an eye on the market for about 3 and and a half months. And it was very apparent that there was really only one way to get a house in this town - you build it. Plenty of land was for sale in the vast forest that belonged to the town of Marasong Harbor, the main problem was building on it. Not only do you have to cut trees you have to figure out how to get the supplies, the building permit, plumbing, and electric. Hell who knows if you would get internet there. So instead he made his home the Marasong Inn and he had planned on sharing a single bathroom for a few more years- until about a few weeks ago. While on another chance look on a local website, he saw that a house went up for sale. After some research into the house he found out that the house once belonged to a James Miller who was recently found deceased on the shore.

It took a bit before he placed an offer on the house, he felt like he had to wait for the locals to properly mourn the lost of the long time resident before he did anything. Besides, it was only fair that he gave the locals a fair chance at the property. It was no secret that Marasong Harbor wasn't a rich town. It was small and had an economy of its own, and he was trying his best to not fuck it up too much. So after a week of it being on the market he put down the asking price and wasn't too surprised when his offer was accepted. The house itself wasn't anything fancy- but he didn't need it to be fancy. He figured he could make it into something fancy eventually - make it his.

The next hurdle is right now, wasn't figuring out paint colors. He finished signing the paperwork before sliding it back other to Angelo who sat across from him. First, he had to make a good impression and actually get the keys to the house. Hatsu was glad that he didn't dress up for this especially since Mr. Kritikos was dressed so casually. Hatsu was also dressed simply - in a pair of jeans, a dark blue button up, and a black leather jacket. However he couldn't help but feel a bit odd, he was sure that the person across from him was probably expecting some elderly couple who was looking for a retirement home out in the country - instead he got a short young adult who happened to have too much money. Hatsu finished signing the papers and shifted in his seat a bit uncomfortable as he twirled the pen between his fingers.

This was both exciting and terrifying at the same time - at first it didn't process that Angelo had said something to him. Hatsu looked at the older man for a few seconds, "Oh uh, yeah. It's nice here." Hatsu hoped that he didn't wait too long to answer, "Yeah sounds good, I'm excited about the new place." He watched as the person across from him took the paperwork and started to review it, "First, I'll probably get a bike." Hatsu hadn't realized how far the property was from everything. He had grown use to having everything in walking distance from the Inn he currently lived at. This wasn't the case for his new home - so if he wanted to get anywhere fast he would probably need a bike. Maybe in the future he could get something more motorized, but for now a bike will work. "I'm not really sure what to do after that- oh does the house come with a bed frame?" This was new to him, he didn't really know that a home could come with stuff, but it was nice to not have to worry about everything...however he really wasn't sure if he was prepared to sleep on a dead man's bed. That's some bad omens and he wasn't going to risk it. If there wasn't a bed frame he was fine with sleeping on the floor or even staying at the inn for a bit longer before stuff came in. That was the only con about this place - it took a while before anything got here.

"Is there anything else that I have to do?" Hatsu asked kinda ready to just get the keys and go. He had came to the conclusion that he was more excited about the idea of owning his own home and he was ready to just go and look at it and live in it for the night.

Beatrice Welles
As the bell to the Loving Spoon rang, Beatrice leaned over to see a man and what looks to be his rather poorly dog walk in. Beatrice glanced at the pair and wondered if they would both be let in. Watching as her suspicions are confirmed as the pair enter, Beatrice realizes she might be acting a bit rude by staring, and Tilly's pat on the back and promise of food snaps her back towards her companion. However, before the conversation can flow further, the food arrives.

Beatrice watches in excitement as Tilly places her and Aódh's food down. The smell of her first English breakfast wafted through her nose. Beatrice doesn't know much about beans, but they looked absolutely divine and cooked to perfection here. The tomatoes had a perfect charred sear, the toast perfectly browned and ready for butter. The yolk of the sunny-side-up eggs shone beautifully, and even the dark black blood-sausage looked amazing. The only thing Beatrice wasn't the most excited about was the bacon. She'd completely forgotten to ask they not prepare it for her due to being so focused on Aódh. However, some pesky bacon won't be stopping her from enjoying a meal, and besides, she'd started eating pork not too long ago anyways and seeing how good everything else looked, maybe the bacon would be nice too. She licks her lips and grabs a small plastic container of butter from the side of condiments and opens it up, noticing the brand is different than what she was used to back home. She then carefully spreads the butter onto her first slice of toast and looks up at her breakfast partner.
"This looks amazing!" Beatrice exclaims, smiling up at Aódh, "I have no idea where to start though! We don't really have these types of breakfast meals up north. It's more of a pancakes and maple syrup kind of thing for us."

“Indy, right, sorry.” Silver nodded at the woman’s firm words that sounded almost as if she were speaking to confirm that truth to herself. It was obvious that having allowed Roje to be carried away by some unknown vampire had shaken her further and whatever was bothering her now she was stubbornly keeping a good facade so as to not reveal what exactly it was. Silver briefly watched Indy walk away, deciding that perhaps now that Ashley was awake, perhaps now she could simply keep an eye on her rather than carry her since it would probably be odd for her to be taken away by someone. Edwin and her exchanged concerned words, the majority of which being Ashley referencing her concern for the rest of them rather than of herself despite her late awakening.

Indy’s teetering shape soon spun around as quickly as she’d begun to march forward, a flicker of surprise crossing Silver’s face when Indy thanked her and kept shuffling off towards the direction of the town. All Silver could do was nod before she followed an invisible path in which only she knew of. It was then that Silver made a mental note to keep tabs on Indy to make sure she really would be alright. In the meantime, she’d stay with Ashley and Edwin so that neither of them would fall back too far. They couldn’t afford to have any of them get lost now. “If you don’t think you’ll be alright walking the distance, I can carry you,” Silver offered to Ashley now, glancing between her and Edwin. “I’ll stay in the rear regardless, should either of you require something.”

Carrying someone for a mile on grassy, wet turf bordered by asphalt was honestly not one of Silver’s forte’s but she wouldn’t voice a complaint now knowing the cards they’d all been dealt at this point. Should Ashley choose to be carried, Silver would do so without hesitance and although she would say the same about Edwin, half of her wondered if he’d be as heavy as the bear spirit he bore and she knew for sure that she wouldn’t be fit for that sort of lifting.

The cusps of trees that they passed didn’t seem to end as they trekked on parallel to the slick road that marked the border between man and nature. In a way, it was comforting being surrounded by nature once more. Should she have continued living with her parents, they’d never allow her to experience such sights even in knowing she would be safe with friends out of pure despair that it would be too far, dangerous or would be downright unacceptable without their constant escorting. Unable to appreciate the caresses of a forest zephyr or the wildlife that teemed beneath it’s canopies without thinking about just how long she had until they’d be forced to return home or leave within a moment’s notice out of discontent that was never her own. Even with it’s soothing tendrils reaching out to embrace her with the whispers between the arbors, Silver could feel her mind still hard focusing on the sound of their path being marked by Indy along with the sensation of being watched or followed to some degree. She glanced over her shoulder casually a few times but the harsh look she cast at what they left behind would be enough to strike hesitance into anyone or thing that might have followed them.

The journey felt almost too short lived when Silver caught sight of artificial light gleaming against some of the trees, noting how much darker this part of the area had become as they drew closer. Indy seemed surprised by their technology alone so perhaps she hadn’t been here in some time? For such a small, tucked away town maybe electricity or innovations were major transitional steps to urbanization that she hadn’t expected. Or worse. Tourism. The pause in front of the gas station allowed Silver to loosen her shoulders a bit after realizing how tensely she’d walked, nodding in favor of Indy making the call that she needed to and silently making another note of how she’d have to remember who exactly they were to Indy. At this point they had to trust she wasn’t going to draw them into a trap and should it be the latter, they would be screwed.

A quiet stir had her pausing for a moment as she thought she could hear the low hum of a pickup truck coming from somewhere behind them. It accelerated then proceeded to quiet down only moments later, but behind them was only forest and road while a gas station now sat feet away. Surely someone wouldn’t stop for no reason on this kind of path? She didn’t dare turn around for risk of exposing the fact that she may have caught on to whomever had decided to pursue them on foot or with stealth. “Indy,” she hissed lowly, “I think we’re being watched.” Her voiced was easily drowned out by the Helix truck that drove past them only to pause to make a u-turn, sending Silver’s instincts blaring to be acknowledged.

She could only hope that Indy caught her words somehow or else neither her nor Edwin or Ashley would probably know the best way to explain why they were struggling out of the woods like they’d slept on boulders for days. The truck that had just ambled past them now revealed the person who’s interest they caught as the window was slowly cranked down a few turns. A man sat in the driver’s seat with extremely short, perhaps buzzcut hair, a beard and eyes Silver couldn’t catch as she looked away at his questioning. She bit back a growl of distrust, her dark gaze wanting so badly to narrow at Wiri in scrutiny but instead she said nothing, looking over his truck in an attempt to seem distracted as a lump sat inconveniently in her throat.
