@SpiralErrant War, battle, and combat will have a separate page from this one. The standard formula for utility, knowledge, diplomacy, and leadership checks is a d20+any relevant modifiers. If you have (insert skill) rank 1, then you have a +2 modifier bonus. If you have rank 5 in said skill (essentially, five skill points spent into that skill), then the modifier is +10. It's always double the rank. Whenever a skill reaches rank 10 (such as your mercantile skill), you are able to attempt Expert Skill Checks, which utilize 2d20s.
