The Leader of the Pantheon
Location: Hero Inc. Base, outside
Time: 14:30 CCT
Weather: Temperate, sunny
Outside the base is always set up for training, the equipment built to withstand the weather possibilities. The first noticeable thing by the base entrance is a ladder leading up into the trees, the start of an obstacle course that wound around the island including climbing, running, jumping, and swinging. By the edge of the water a circle was marked out, meant to be a sparring arena for anyone wanting to test themselves that way. On more solid ground, some dummies and targets were set up for people to practise on something that couldn't hit back, all of them in some state of disrepair. Overall, it was just like the indoor ones, but a lot of people preferred the outside one because, well, it was outside. Being in an underwater facility could get a little same-ish, so the outside part of the island, not to mention the missions, provided a nice break from the monotony.
Today there were no particular people using it, so it was open to everyone. Oscar was stood at one end of the shooting range, glowing almost unnoticeably with a silvery light. Taking a deep breath, relaxing as he exhaled, he channelled it into his left hand, then swung said hand around, throwing a ball of the same coloured energy at one of the targets. It flew wide and hit the very side of it, leaving yet another scorch mark on it. He sighed as the glow around him faded and stepped back. He'd been practising for about half an hour so far and none of his attempts had even come close to hitting the centre. There was a reason he was an architect and not an athlete. Turning away from the targets he glanced around to see who else was there, if there was anyone he could talk to.
Cass slid down the ladder at the end of the obstacle course, covered with sweat from both exertion and the heat. She picked up her water bottle and took a deep drink. That was her fastest time yet, but she knew that she could go faster. She could always go faster. There was no need to be satisfied with where she was at the moment if she could get better. And she could always get better. She moved over to an empty space of ground and sat down, taking a rest while watching what everyone else was doing. She didn't interact much, being more of an observer, and now was no different. Besides, it wouldn't hurt to know what the people she was working with could do.
