The sun had shown itself over the Eastern mountains, and as usual the Alpha of the Borealis had awoken before so. As usual, she patrolled the territory and strengthened the scent of her own land to warn any potential threats of the land they were entering. Leila would soon return before her pack woke, and stretched herself out in order to relax herself from the tension in her muscles; As an Alpha, Leila's instincts picked up from the Executioners would automatically kick in when she was patrolling her territory - She couldn't risk any violent rogues stepping onto her turf and harming her pack. Crystal eyes sparkled as she watched the sun rise over the mountains, and she stood atop the Alpha's Rock that overlooked the clearing. She laid near the edge of the large stone, head rested atop her paws as her steady gaze watched over the clearing below her.

She couldn’t risk any intruders on her turf, not on her watch. As the Alpha of a starting pack, Leila would never let it happen. Not even if her former pack discovered her and threatened them; Even those in her pack who were new, she treated like the siblings she’d lost with her escape from the Eastern Executioners. She did her best to keep her pack safe, happy, and overall: protected.

Leila was aware of the rumors passing about regarding her pack, and she was neither ashamed nor proud to be rumored as the possible Fifth Wind. What mattered to her, was having her pack succeed over the smaller packs her former family had destroyed.

With a low grown, the pup slowly opened his eyes and glanced about the den. He snorted, noting how early it was, before scooting himself further back in the den. He could feel the cool falling leaf wind, and it chilled him so much he actually wanted to snuggle underneath a pile of leaves. Kaga rarely did, he was too stubborn to give in when wolves would offer leaves to use for warmth… Though now he actually regretted that decision. With a sigh, he shook his fur out and padded his way out of the den, adjusting his eyes to the sunlight as he turned his gaze up to the Alpha’s Rock. He saw their leader, and sighed in relief. The wolf he looked up to, Phaethon, respected their Alpha—Therefore, Kaga did, as well.

The pup would then trot off to the clearing’s watering hole, and took a drink from it. Luckily for them, their Alpha managed to find a good clearing with water close enough to sate the pack. He lifted his head and looked about, at first looking for Phaethon, though now he just wanted someone to play with…

Artemis sighed softly, her blue eyes adjusting to the  sunlight pouring in through her den, and she curled herself up into a tighter ball. She grumbled softly, before opening her eyes again with a deep sigh. It was no use… She’d had the nightmare again. Shaking her head, she reluctantly rose to her paws and stretched herself out before padding out of her den, she looked over the clearing, making sure everything seemed to be in order, before noticing their Alpha atop her usual place, making sure of it for her. Artemis would breathe a sigh of relief and sit outside of her den, licking her injured paw.

The previous day didn’t seem to go exactly as planned when a particularly aggressive stag deer tried to fight before its last breath—Of course, as expected, the Borealis Deltas managed it, though Artemis had her paw slammed upon by its hooved in the midst of its thrashing. She cringed at the memory, licking her paw again as she sighed. Luckily, the Zetas managed it carefully, albeit with her brother trying to compose himself. She wasn’t too bothered by the coolness of falling leaf—After all, her fur was pure Northern Mountaineer, thus making her quite capable of managing the cold. When it was hot, however…

… She didn’t even want to think about it.

The Selsa leader gave a groan, shifting in his place. He had taken up refuge in the bowls of a once great oak that had long since fallen. Why did he seperate himself? The-...no, that was to personal.

As the male shifted, something shiftedthe leaves at his snout. Eyes opened witb a golden fury, gazing at the culprit. A small lizard had wandered into his place of rest...foolish pest.

It quickly vanished in the jaws of the warrior, before he stood, making his way out. The sun graced his burns with a gentle warmth, one he welcomed in the falling leaves. It was becoming colder, and soon be near unbearable for the thin furred canine. But that was another day. On this, he needed a drink!

The warrior made his way to the watering hole with a breathy sigh, letting the breeze grace his fur...

(Open!)

Fade~

The sun slowly crept into the cave of the lead Delta herself. Fade yawned and shook out her fur softly before her silver sharp eyes opened up. With a piercing gaze she got up and stretched out hearing a satisfying click before shaking out her fur again. Fade's paws slowly made their way to the entrance of her den as her white furry head pecked out. Ugh was last night a mess. Nightmares plagued her night and that made the wolf extremely tired. She had no idea how many times she had woken up last night. Deciding to shake it off the white female walked out as the suns rays hit her softly. Ah yes that's right, It was falling leaf season. Looking to the right of her she saw Artemis  in the distance and trotted over to her, making herself look awake as ever. Seeing Artemis lick her paw Fade frowned lightly. "Good morning Artemis, How is your paw?" She asked obvious concern in her voice.

Andromedos

Letting out a satisfied yawn Andromedos instantly bounded up and stretched out his limbs for a minute before tripping out of his cave in his usual silly and bouncy manner. He got up with his tongue out and sniffed in the air of falling leaf season. What a day! He ran out and enjoyed the weather while occasionally snapping at leaves. He saw his sister talking to Artemis and decided to leave the two females alone. He knew how short tempered and fierce Fade can get. Instead he'll annoy someone else. Running to a familiar Zeta cave Andromedos felt his tail wag. Crouching down he grinned before pouncing on none other then Apollo. "Morning! Hey! come on! Wake up! Wake up Apollo!" He whined pawing at the males nose.

LUPO

The gray wolf didn't mind the Falling Leaf season, the cold actually kind of nice. Freezing Ground was a bit too much for him though. He let out a huff as he pawed, standing on his hind legs, at the now patched hole at the side of the den. He always woke up early. "There," he said as he lowered himself back onto all his legs. "That should do it." The pups were always too rowdy for their own good. Well, wolves in general. Luckily though, the hole just needed a small amount of repairing. What kind of games do they even play? he thought to himself, nodding at the only awake occupant of the den he just maintained. Most probably the kind of games Lucio plays. he continued thinking, snorting in amusement. From where Lupo was, he could see Leila at her usual post. He gave her a short bow of his head before turning away. The female wolf was their leader, and he treated her with utmost respect. While the Epsilon wasn't a pack defender or hunter, he contributes to the pack in his own way. He makes sure all members are living comfortably. Speaking of Leila, I should start my daily sweep earlier. He already fixed one den, so he might as well look for others.

LUCIO

"...Ngh," Lucio groaned, his ears pressing flat against his head. He did not want to wake up. But when he thought about it again, not waking up meant death, and he did not want to die. At that scary thought, he shot up from his place on the ground, ears now pointed upwards. "I'm ready for another day of training!" he said to no one in particular before a yawn escaped his maw. He stretched his limbs and tried to shake the sleepiness away. At the other side of the den was the sleeping figure of his mother. He made his way towards the exit extra carefully and when he finally got outside, he trotted around in a small circle before sitting down. Oh hey, it's the Alpha! he thought as his gaze landed on the said wolf, completely overlooking his Big Brother who was only a few dens away. He puffed his chest in an attempt to look big and strong. He wears the title 'Gamma' as a badge of honor, even if that meant he was a hunter-in-training. Gamma awaiting orders! he said in his head.

Lakota

Lakota blinked his eyes open. Upon realizing he wasn't in his den, he leaped to his feet and looked around. After a moment, he realized where he was. It was a cave he'd found behind the waterfall. It was damp and cold, but it shielded him from the disappointed gazes of his pack members. Ever since he'd arrived, he'd been wary of them. His wariness caused him to wish to isolate himself, and to do that he had to stay a low priority omega, meaning he made no effort to contribute. He was surprised Leila hadn't just exiled him. It wasn't that he liked being the one wolf who was the only one not helping, or in training to help. The Iotas that occasionally watched him, looking for hidden talents they could turn into a status for the reclusive young wolf, always did so with disappointment written on their aged faces.

But it was Leila he was truly hiding from in this cave. She had done everything for him. When he was left without a pack or a family, she took him in. When he was hurt and weak, her pack healed him. She gave him a home and a shelter and a pack to call his own and he had repaid her with nothing. The shame and the guilt he felt every time her disapproving gaze landed on him made him want to curl up in a ball and hide. So he'd started sleeping in the cave, because he could hide there. But, during the day, he was still forced to return to the center of territory, as it was mandatory for all omegas. So he shook out his fur and stretched before jumping from the cave into the water below. Probably not intelligent when the weather was chilly, especially not with his thinner fur. He swam to shore and shook some of the water off before heading back to the center of territory. When he reached it, he kept his eyes aimed down and limped his way over to a sunny rock to lie down on. The limp was due to the shattered bones in two of his legs that were still healing from his battle with the Alpha of the Executioners.

Lycaon

Lycaon stood on a rocky ridge overlooking the Borealis Territory. He was just far enough away from the borderline that the wolves wouldn't catch his scent, but close enough he could observe. He needed to determine whether this pack would be safe for him. He had heard the rumors. This pack was believed to be the prophesied Fifth Wind, strongest of all the Continental Packs. Their Alpha was rumored to be kind and generous, but fierce and strong at the same time. Just the fact that their primary Alpha was female was impressive enough. But, despite these rumors, his past allowed no blind trust. He wanted to know how they worked before he exposed his presence. If he exposed who he was and his past arose.....

He didn't want to think about it.

His eyes were drawn to a tall female wolf as she lay upon the Alpha's rock. Her presence commanded respect, and she radiated strength and morality. The epitome of a leader, she was. He knew the roles within their pack, and who the leaders and members of each one were. He'd been observing since the last Dark Moon. He'd been living in a cave in the small mountains above them for an entire moon phase. But the weather was growing colder, and even his Northern Mountaineer fur coat couldn't protect him from the harsh Freezing Ground. He needed a den, one designed to protect a wolf from those conditions. He jumped down the ridge, landing on a ledge for a split second before he jumped to another. This was his way down. It was dangerous, and could result in fatalities he couldn't heal from should he ever make a mistake. He was confident that he wouldn't.

He was wrong. As he jumped to a ledge about nine feet off the ground, he realized he'd jumped too early. His paws landed wrong, sliding on the rocks. The force of his momentum sent him into the air off the opposite side, and he plummeted to the ground. A splintering crack resonated through the scarcely vegetated valley that the Borealis called home. Pain ricocheted from his front leg as he rolled double and landed on his back. He whined, raising his head to lick gently at the limp leg.

So much for revealing his presence on his terms.

If it hadn't been clear already, it was daybreak. Already in the midst of Falling Leaves, which Priam absolutely despised for many reasons,  much work needed to be done. The male found himself easily awoken, no dramatic drawn-out resisting to the morning light as so many others did. He was better than that, he could take the disruption to his sleep. As he shook himself off, he looked out into the light, observing the scenery of his pack.

"And I wonder why we call it Falling Leaves," Priam said sarcastically as he went out into the open, "not a very creative name for a dismal time of year."

Such comments were typical of the near-adult. He never quite took for accepting being wrong or inaccurate about anything anymore. He couldn't afford it. With his pack depending on it, his dear alpha, his mother and young brother, the leadership position he one day hoped to be his. Speaking of which, he ought to get his assignment from Barok. Priam went to his den, and found it was unoccupied. Oddly enough, he wasn't the type to go off on patrol alone, yet where may he be? Priam did notice, however, that Barok sometimes went off on his own, isolating himself and disappearing. Of course, who knew the reasons for his condolence. All that Priam noticed, however, that emotional discord can sometimes hamper the abilities of a leader. His father, a former Mountaineer, told him that; Priam believed it.

But Priam had respect for Barok. He was a decent leader by his standards- not that Priam had ever had any leadership experience. Following his scent, the male traced the lead selsa to first a tree stump, and then to the watering hole. There, the male was lapping at the water rather thoughtfully. Priam made his approach carefully, not wanting to surprise his leader. Also, he was thirsty. Lapping some the water himself, the male came to the side of his leader, drinking from the very same water. After he finished, thus he spoke:

"I'd ask for my assignment, Barok, but you don't seem too well. Are you alright?"

Sleeping was one of Aggaroth's favourite times of the day. Usually curled up to his sister Astaroth in the mornings, he was usually quite content to sleep there for longer than he should. But this morning, he woke to find Astaroth gone, and a cold spot at his side. Brilliant. Now he'd actually have to wake up and do something. Whatever something was. Perhaps today would be interesting. From his spot he stretched, and peered around. Nothing exciting seemed to be happening, and so he sat to think. Where could Astaroth be? The pair were rarely seen apart, the exception being when they had their duties to perform. So where could she have gone without telling her brother?

-------

Astaroth was, in fact, out of their camp wandering the territory. She'd been up far too early, nightmares of the day their parents died having woken her. She was only glad Aggaroth didn't seem as affected as she was, but then he hadn't seen what had happened. Still, she hadn't wanted to wake him, not when it was still dark. So she'd snuck out. No one had seemed to notice, and she just needed some time to clear her head. Besides, she wasn't aware of any rule stating she couldn't go onto the territory alone.  She wandered on, but made sure not to go too far, just in case something happened.

Phaethon

Phaethon watched as every wolf arose to begin their daily duties from his den's opening. The Beta watched as Kaga, the pup who is essentially his apprentice wondered over to the waterhole. He thought of what he might be able to teach the young wolf today. Perhaps hunting or combat. Phaethon eventually stood and went after the pup to find him drinking by Priam and Barok. He took a place beside Kaga and lapped up some water before speaking. "Hello Barok. Priam." He greeted the two before shifting his attention to the pup. "And good morning to you, Kaga." The Beta sounded stern, almost intimidating. One would not be able to tell that he had slept well and is as content as he.

Barok's silence gave him quite the cold shoulder feeling. Or haunch. Cold haunch feeling. Nonetheless, Barok seemed to be in no mood for talking. Though, to his surprise, the beta and his pup apprentice decided to make their presences known. And suddenly, the lead selsa had become the most popular wolf to be sought, as now four of their kind occupied the very same water hole. Priam did not like to be ignored, certainly by a commanding wolf.

Phaethon's stern commanding welcome reached Priam's ears with quite surprise. Such a way to make an entrance, surely! As if Priam needed any more assurance that he was not in charge, no? Such was Priam, such was how he viewed everyone in both a respectful yet scornful lens.

"Hello, Beta," Priam greeted respectfully, "and good morning young Kaga. I see you are full of energy as always."

Kaga had a youthful sort of aura at times that was both relieving and repulsive to Priam. Though nothing truly happened as of now, Kaga seemed promising. As the willingness to learn and excitement charmed many, the childish behavior pups of his age exhibited. The playing, the rolling, how idiotic of some kids. Yet that indeed shows that Priam himself is not a full adult yet, as though he may as well wish.

For it is truly an adult that looks back on child behavior with nothing but adoration, and not a child nor an adolescent.

"I was just discussing with-"

The scene suddenly became rather dramatic as the sound of a crack echoed through the scene. The sound seemed rather close, yet somewhat distant. As a matter of fact,  if it was any day, and perhaps any other wolf, the crack would be nothing. But Freezing Ground would soon be upon the pack, and no risks could be taken. Priam was hyperactive, on guard for any threat to prove his worth. And that crack, rather a raiding party or canine error, would not go ignored.

"Dear beta, did you hear that?" Priam said.

Ah, at last the pack was awakening. She noticed Lupo bowing his head towards her, and she gave a curt nod in response, then doing the same to Lucio when he stood proudly. At least he was proud of his role, regardless of being a Lead or not. Attitudes like that made Leila proud of her pack, albeit small and new, it was strong and filled with strong wolves. She gave brief nods and greetings to the wolves leaving their dens, before she laid down upon the rock and listened.

Leila had her eyes closed for just a moment, her ears pressed forward as she listened to the breeze. She tried to listen for something, anything, really. Ancestors, please, give me a sign that my pack is meant to be here… Not that our work s for naught. She pleaded in her thoughts, claws digging into the stone of the Alpha’s Rock. Her eyes quickly opened and her ears pricked as she heard the sound of rocks rolling, along with the quiet whine of a possibly injured wolf. Her gaze moved about from the height of her rock, before sniffing at the air in an attempt to find anything familiar… No, not the Executioners. She relaxed, though she was still alert, the she-wolf skillfully climbed down the rock, and upon landing still somehow managed to hold herself the strong, proud stance all Alphas held themselves at.

She heard Priam ask Phaethon about it, and she was relieved—at least she wasn’t going crazy. “Someone, make sure the pups stay in the territory! Phaethon, Barok, Priam, come with me, I heard the sound coming just some ways beyond the Hollow Tree, possibly an intruder. I can’t tell how many, or how dangerous, but please come with me.” That was what was different about Leila compared to other Alphas, she wasn’t always commanding or domineering, but she added ‘please’ on occasion to give wolves the option. She gave Kaga a gentle nudge with her snout, “Don’t follow us this time, young Kaga. You remember what happened last time.” With that she rushed off into the forest, towards the source of the sound.

He tried to grow up too quickly, it seemed, by how he was resisting the urge to hop about in excitement, like a pup meeting its father. He then turned to Barok and nodded to him in greeting. Priam spoke then, and he gave him another nod, “Good morning, Priam!” He spoke, excitement filling his tone.

He heard the sound too, and clawed at the ground as his head looked about, like a deer searching for its predator. He drew in a deep breath, then shook his fur out, he observed Phaethon, and did his best to not show any fear or concern. Kaga wanted to be just like Phaethon, and that he will be one day.

Their Alpha rushed in their direction, and Kaga bowed his head in greeting, making an effort to be respectful towards the dark-furred she-wolf. She took him in when he had lost his family, and for that he couldn’t be more grateful. That was when she gave him the gentle nudge, almost making him giggle if it hadn’t caught him by surprise. Though the pup pouted at the memory brought up—Kaga had wanted to follow the Selsas in pursuit of an intruder, and got himself caught in a thorn bush in the midst of tracking. Needless to say… It was an embarrassing position.

It hurts a bit, but I’m sure I’ll be fine. I’m prepared for the next hunt, anyway.”

Artemis was never the type to sit still, regardless of injury. She always sought to be the strongest of all the Deltas, aside from their leader, of course, though she made an effort. Lycaon

Lycaon growled at himself. Good job, Lycaon. You've certainly gotten their attention now, he reprimanded himself. He heard the sound of wolves heading his way and forced himself to his feet. Despite the pain it caused him and the extra damage it was causing his leg, he began hobbling towards the borderline. If he managed to get off their territory before they caught him, they wouldn't have control over him. If they caught him inside the territory, he'd be defenseless. He'd been raised believing weakness was not an option, and that philosophy powered him on even now. But the lack of food and the exhaustion from running all through the mountains since the last Dark Moon, coupled with the broken leg and the bruises and cuts from his fall, were too much for the sturdy Mountaineer to handle.

Lycaon stumbled, catching his body on a small boulder. Letting it hold his body up, he waited for the Borealis to find him.

Tarika whined, and shifted closer into the much larger mass of fur that was the elder she'd fallen asleep tucked beside. The morning had come, and she could hear the other wolves outside of the den talking. She whined once more, and then got up onto her small legs, wobbly from sleep. "Galen. Hey, Galen. It's morning! Come on, get up!" She yipped as she wandered to the elder's head, and stuck her paws into his fur. She continued to poke a prod at the old wolf, until she grew bored of waiting and the alpha's voice drifted into the den. Something was happening.

One pure white, tiny head stuck out of the den, eyes bright as the pup looked around at those outside. Her eyes landed on Kaga, one of the older pups, from whom the Alpha had just turned away from. "Kaga!" Her cheery, hyper call rang out through the camp as she darted out of the den. She slowed down after a few steps, not wanting to trip again so early in the morning. She stopped beside the larger pup, her face alight with excitement. "What's going on?" She questioned, as she looked up at him, curiosity heavy in her voice.

Galen grumbled a little, and attempted to ignore the tiny paws jabbing into his warm fur. He grunted at the pup as she darted from the den, and planned to go back to sleep. However, he pushed himself up with a huff, unable to do that as of current. He walked to the den's entrance, and out of it, to sit back down just to the left of the opening. A large yawn pulled from him, as he looked around at the canines who were all getting into the swing of the day. His eye lingered on the pair of pups for a moment, before his gaze traveled over to the omega asleep on a rock. He shook his head a tad, and watched the alpha make her way out into the forest. His upper body slid to the ground as he made himself comfortable for the time being.

Nessa grunted out in her sleep, and sighed as she woke up. She gathered her feet beneath her as she stood, and stretched out quickly. She made her way out of the den she'd fallen asleep in, and into the outside world. Her eyes flicked between the wolves gathered, and lingered on her father for a moment. She smiled to herself and walked to the water for a quick drink before she found a spot to sit down, and watch the others for a while until she got something better to do.

Hickory

It had been a couple of days since Hickory had crossed what the Southern Suns considered to be the cold border of their territory. It was then that the winds turned chilling; the trees were taller, toning themselves in a strong shade of orange that contrasted harshly against the morning sky; the plains, usually clear and grassy, now displayed odd mounts in the form of valleys. He had been marching on a steady walk through the shoreline of rivers, eating small rabbits and the occasional unsuspecting squirrel to make his way into the Borealis' terrain. As focused as he could've been on his task of finding this new pack, he was well enjoying the scenery that forests had to offer during Falling Leaf.

His principal reference was the existence of a clearing that he had yet failed to find. He was mildly frustrated by not having done it yet; the sight of deer and bisons brought the best out of his sense of taste and made him think of how nice it would be to have a bigger animal to gourge on, but it would be irresponsible to risk getting hurt on a lone trail.

As the sun started to settle in the sky, he heard a falling sound come from some miles. Hickory instinctively hunched into a charging position and, as his eyes darted, he spotted a gray wolf that had seemingly slipped from one of the creeks. He cringed a bit at the sight of his hurt leg and his mental reconstruction of the accident, but as he saw him make an effort to stand and leave, he figured the possibility that this wolf was being chased. He decided to stand his ground from a distance which allowed him to observe; in any case, this uneventful situation might help him track the Borealis back to their location if they were to show. Were his guess to be wrong, he could approach him in helping terms.

Cypress

"I'm going."

"D'ya realize how recklesh you're bein', Cypresh? Thisus goin' to getcha in trouble with the Alphas!"

"Well!" she replied, elongating the E. "Maybe the Alphas will take notice of my merits when I find the Borealis before Hick!"

"Nonsense! That's not'ow any of this wor-"

"Mallarchy!" she snapped back, not disgruntled at any point, but boastful at every word "I'm in no position to keep being an Omega and if finding a bunch of renegades in the mountains gets me a medal, I'll gladly take it!"

"Sheesh..." The old wolf said, catching his breath from the run "Yoo'll make me join the Ancients soon'r"

Cypress waved her tail at him and, much to her intentions, she fled. The Iota had found little productivity in talking her out of going after her brother, but he was too old to be in the open and knew that the two could defend each other well enough to survive in the wild.  It was so that Cypress started following Hickory from a distance. She was successful in passing by unnoticed and she strotted with great pride at that fact, but she grew irritated at every prey he caught with simple, calculated movements. Cypress gave little attention to the change of pace because her focus was deeply invested on her cover, but everytime she managed to pause and eat a small hunt, she looked up to the orange pines in awe. At some point, she heard a loud crack and a fallen wolf in an open ledge in its direction. He had a hurt leg and it seemed he was struggling with getting back on his paws.

"Goodness!" she muttered to herself. She took a quick glance at Hickory (who still hadn't noticed her) and then to the hurt wolf again. She figured that he was going to take the chance to lure the Borealis out with him and, feeling distasted with the idea, she made her mind to help him. Cypress acted quickly, taking a big branch with her teeth to try and pull him towards a more secluded area. She felt presences approaching, so she rushed as discreetly as her skill alowed it.

"Hey, you! Pssst!" She called, whispering loudly as she headed towards him "Come over here! I'll help you hide!"

Priam felt relieved that someone else had noticed the sound and had drive to investigate. Perhaps this pack had a chance after all! Priam followed his alpha, following her to the nearby clearing. Tarika and Kaga, two troublesome pups, were not to attend. However, if Barok and Phaethon followed, the threat stood no chance.

As to what happened "last time", as the alpha referred to, Priam did not want to remember such an event. Many wolves now joined the pack, too many. Priam did not trust all of them, and there were surely some out there that would love to see this pack crumble. Priam followed suit, determined that, if it had to come to it, the male would surely exact retribution on the threat.

Leila was a somewhat decent leader. Though, for Priam's terms, that means she was quite well inclined for her job. She was kind, yet just. She was harsh, yet fair. The pack was in relatively good hands while she ran it.

"Alpha, you know it's coming. Freezing Ground," Priam said rather quietly.

Fade

The white wolf nodded before looking away and turning. A small barely visible smile made it's way on her face as she saw her annoying and crazed brother pestering Apollo. "Ah good, I can't afford weakness Artemis and you know this. Freezing Ground is on its way. Now you can join me, but I must stop my brother from being an annoyance and focus" She said turning back to her tough exterior and walking over to the den which held the two males. This was no time for fun and games. She had a job and so did Andromedos. He needed to stop this pup attitude or he'll have her to deal with.

Fade knew she was hard on her brother.....and everyone else. However, he still looked up to her. Just as she was about to walk off the she-wolf picked up The sound of the alpha and some commotion coming from her rock. Looking over she narrowed her eyes before sighing "We shan't get involved, but keep alert Artemis" She ordered before running over to her brother and Apollo. "Andromedos what did I tell you about annoying others of the pack?"

Andromedos

He grinned and wagged his tail before sitting beside Apollo. "Well if I annoy my sister she'll make sure my tail is no longer attached to my body. You know how she has anger issues.  Same with Artemis. I know you more than the other pack members so you seemed like a good joke. Plus~  You promised me that you'll help me talk to her about her anger. It's been getting worse to the point of her snapping at me when I ask for something. She's a scary wolf and you're older than me, plus your sister is just like mine. Can you just...I don't know...calm her before we talk? please? She'll crush me if I try and you're much bigger pleassee?" Andromedos asked before yelping when his sister stepped on his tail. Oh god oh god. "U-Uh, sister! Hey...." He mumbled getting out of her grip and bowing down until he was lying submissively. How embarrassing.

Lycaon

Lycaon's ears perked up at the sound of crunching leaves, his nose twitching as the scent of two Southern Sun wolves blew towards him from the sides. One male, one female. From the direction behind him, he could hear and smell the approaching Borealis. His body shook with effort and as tried to stand up. When the female Southern Sun got closer too him, he turned his pained and panicked gaze to her. When she offered to help him, his distrustful instincts were overpowered by the chance to get over the borderline, even though it was pointless. Even with help, he couldn't make it that far in his state. The border was too far away. Still, Lycaon pushed himself, and attempted to stumble towards the Southern Sun. He made it but a few steps in her direction before his legs gave out and he collapsed onto the mossy forest floor.

He turned his head to face the Borealis as they entered the clearing.

Phaethon

Phaethon heard a loud thud and crack. He nodded to Priam "I heard." Phaethon observed the Alpha running toward him and listened to her words with one last drink of water. The Alpha was off with Priam following behind. "She is right Kaga. Stay here. When I get back we will practice combatives." Phaethon quickly caught up with the two and with his powerful legs pushed ahead of the duo. He felt as if he owed his life to Leila and would always be the first to put his life on the line. He burst through the tree line and into a clearing with a small mountain and a mess of rocks. He caught the sent of three wolves. He approached the two within his sight. " Identify yourselves." He growled out from between clenched teeth.

Hickory

"What in Cain's name!?" He screamed internally, raising his whole position as he noticed his sister talking to the hurt wolf and a third one approaching. It seemed that she was going to try and rescue him. There wasn't much he could do and calling her out to escape would just put three wolves in danger instead of two. Running this figure through, he decided it would be better to risk one instead; hopefully, there'd be time later to scold on Cypress for coming this far for whatever reason she had conjured. He ran towards a ledge, jumping carefully to land between the coming wolf and his sister.

"Stand back" he stated. This was left to ambiguity; his hope was that the offender would take the message, but if he was a wolf of authority around these parts, he could always rely on Cypress taking the note. After a brief pause, he continued "We're not aggressors. The two of us are Southern Suns and we intended to come here in meeting terms with the Borealis. As for this individual here, his reasons are unknown to me, but he's hurt from a bad fall."

He glanced back sternly at Cypress, but then turned back to the growling wolf. Preventively, he posed himself on a defensive position facing him, he did not know what his intentions were, but, to his judgement, he seemed flustered enough to leap at them at the drop of a feather. Still, he didn't take too kindly to his attitude and he decided to test his temper a bit. Glancing at his scarred eye, he said "Were you to be in this new pack, take this advice from a wolf who comes from an older one: Trespassors are to be warned with howls before they're chased down. It might save your Zetas some wounds to treat."

Cypress

Cypress got a goosebump at the approach of this wolf, but much to her frustration, Hickory descended to intervene. She was about to answer the interrogator when her brother called someone to stand back and, almost in reflex, she found herself doing it. It seemed he was going to appropiate the soptlight, so she grunted to herself and after Hickory threw a mean look in her direction, she decided not to mind the white wolf anymore. A little disgruntled, Cypress directed her attention to the hurt wolf that lay beside her. Chewing down the dried leaves of the branch she still held in her mouth, she went to treat him. The Southern Suns did that with Horsetail, but when said thing lacked, they went with any dry leaf just to stop the bleeding and infections from settling in; this being a trick she had learned from the Zetas.

"This might help you a bit; think of it as a quick cover. Although... I wouldn't trust things to remain quiet for long." She said as she overheard Hickory's remark on trespassors. "My name's Cypress. You are?"

And it just happened to be a train of foreign wolves. Priam bared his teeth back at the announcement that the wolves were Southern Suns. He did not like them one bit. It made him even more enraged to see how they addressed one of his own. "Perhaps your blood does give you such high opinion of yourselves, but your 'old ways' will not help you here. Our trespassers and aggressors will receive no warning, so you'd best treat us with humbling respect. Unless if your 'old advice' is to provoke a fight."

Priam was Mountaineer by blood, his father having been one who left. However, he grew up with hatred of the Executioners and Suns. The other packs were truly irrelevant forces in his life. "Are you on diplomatic mission? If so, we'd expect proof. As for your wounded friend-"

Priam noticed the coloring pattern on the injured one's flank. Based off of his memory, and probable guesswork, the pattern was Mountaineer. Instantly, he turned to Phaethon. "the injured one is from the Mountains. I don't trust this group."

Lycaon

Lycaon's eyes flitted to the eastern side of the valley as the second Sun descended from the ridge to stand between him and the female Sun. Lycaon noticed similarities in their fur and other aspects, leading him to realize they were related wolves. Lycaon ignored him, turning his gaze back to the four wolves who had approached them. He knew the minute the one in front spoke that he was the Beta wolf, Phaethon. The other two males were both Selsas; one a leader, one a follower. "Identify yourselves," the Beta growled. Lycaon's inner leader reared up at the exertion of dominance over him. His past caused him to be resistant to command, and appreciative of lenient authority. The injured wolf listened as the Southern Sun answered him in a diplomatic tone. He seemed to be a strong wolf, but Lycaon didn't trust him.

Abruptly, his attention was pulled to the other Southern Sun as she wrapped dry leaves around his wounded leg. He hissed in pain, muscles jumping as he kicked his back legs in reflex. His instinct to distrust people nearly made him bite the leaves away, but looking up at the Southern wolf and the concern in her eyes, he decided against it and rested his leg on the ground. ""This might help you a bit; think of it as a quick cover. Although... I wouldn't trust things to remain quiet for long," she said. Lycaon had to admit, he was grateful for the help. "My name's Cypress. You are?" In response to this question, Lycaon decided he'd kill two birds with one stone; answer hers and the Beta's question with the same answer. But he wouldn't do it while lying on the ground like a weakling. Wolves valued strength, and Lycaon would be damned if he wasn't going to show he had it.

Pushing himself to his feet, Lycaon wobbled for a moment before steadying himself. Even the slight pressure on his injured leg had him biting back a whine. He raised his topaz eyes to the Beta, squaring his shoulder and raising his head so he was at his full height. He was larger than your average wolf, his thick coat making him seem even bigger. "My name is Lycaon," he began. His eyes flicked to the Selsa who had recognized his markings and nodded. "I am from the Northern Mountains, yes, but I haven't been a part of that pack for several years." Lycaon turned his gaze to Alpha. "I mean your pack no harm. I came seeking refuge, but should you ask me to leave, I will go," he said.

Leila stood in the shadows for the meanwhile, watching how Phaethon and Priam handled the situation. She shook her head with a gentle chuckle, of course they were to react in such a manner—Both wolves were naturally quite stern, so she didn’t expect anything less. She didn’t mind it either, but she understood that she had to step in, lest a battle broke free. She couldn’t have such things in her territory. She stepped out from the cover of the trees’ shadows, her black fur making it easy to blend with such, and she padded her way between Phaethon and Priam, though took a step forward as she initiated her dominance over them. Her head was held high and proud, and she exhibited such things with ease. She wouldn’t call herself a natural-born leader, but moreso a smart she-wolf. Not many packs were led by females, after all.

She’d arrived just as one of the Southern Suns had warned her wolves, and she shook her fur out before glancing between the she-wolf with the injured wolf, and the male wolf who defended them. Her expression was stern, though not cold, like she could snap at any moment but she was also thoughtful. “Surely, dear Southern Sun, your elder had also taught you to bite your tongue when speaking to a Beta and Selsa.” The Alpha motioned her head towards the wolves of their respectful titles as she spoke so, before drawing in a deep breath and clearing her throat.

“Rest assured, I don’t allow my pack to attack trespassers without a good reason. Though be warned, you nearly gave them one. Phaethon and Priam are not ones for taking disrespect.” Her blue gaze flickered to the injured wolf, surprised that he could stand with such dreadful wounds, though she inspected the nursing the female gave him… She could make a valuable Zeta. Though for the meantime, she thought of them as nothing more than trespassers who believed it was their right to speak back to wolves of authority. Then again, the Southern Suns were known for being quite ‘traditional’ in their methods.

Leila’s expression had softened for a moment when the wolf, who now identified himself as Lycaon, claimed to seek refuge. She sighed, she knew Freezing Ground was coming, and wolves were desperate for the safety of a pack. Food was scarce, and it was a cruel time indeed. Though it seemed they had enough dens and food to last them thus far, and Leila was without a doubt proud of her pack, especially since they had just started many Moon Phases ago. “Lycaon, the former Northern Mountaineer…” She tested the name, her gaze focusing on the sky, mentally calling out to the Ancestors for a sign that she shouldn’t take this wolf in… “If refuge is what you seek, then my pack may be it… In your eyes, I see a kindness that no wolf ever shows when faced with such intimidation and authority. Though be warned, unless you prove yourself before the Full Moon, you will be an Omega in our pack…” The she-wolf finished with a deep breath in, before focusing her attention to the two other wolves.

“As for you two… You came seeking the Borealis, and you are now met with both the Alpha and Beta. If you so with to speak, do so now.” She glanced to Phaethon, chuckling softly, “Though I’d doubt you’ll have my Beta’s favor after that comment of yours. Nor my Selsa.” The Alpha didn’t relax in the slightest, still keeping her proud stance with little to no sign of easiness. “Now, speak.” She commanded, glancing between Phaethon and Priam momentarily.

Kaga’s ears were pricked, trying to listen for anything from the forest, making sure the trespasser wasn’t of any danger. He reassured himself of that… The pup was so deep in thought that upon hearing his fellow pup’s voice calling his name out, he jumped up and his fur stood on ends for a moment, staring at the female pup for a brief moment before calming himself down. He breathed out a sigh to ease himself, then lighly shook his fur out.

His gaze focused on the forest where the four wolves had left, before turning back to the white pup he knew as Tarika. “There’s trespassers on the territory, so Leila, Phaethon, Priam, and Barok went to investigate…” He glanced to the forest, “But they’ve been gone for a while…” He sat down to scratch the back of his ear for a quick second, then took a drink from the water. “You’re not usually up this early, Tarika.” Then again, neither was he. Though that was another story, “Did Galen wake you?” He asked, looking around for the Iots, before setting his gaze on the pup again.

Hickory

"The Beta and a Selsa? Now, that's new." Hickory thought.

"I beg your pardon and your companions', Alpha. I assure you that we believe that holding back one's hastiness is indeed a virtue to all wolves." He said with a smidgen of sass, flickering his eyes in the general direction of the Mountaineer and the white wolf that were by her side. Then, he raised from his fighting position to stand respectfully. Hickory bowed his head and continued: "I hope we can pass this as a minor culture shock."

Much to his impression, both wolves seemed relatively young to hold such positions in power. Hadn't their roles been cleared, they would have passed down in Hickory's guess as two temperamental Delta admittees who had run off in an attempt to play heroes. Surprisingly, the Mountaineer knew not of warning howls and the Beta engaged directly in a minor conflict; furthermore, it was rare that a female was the lead Alpha and that they all seemed to be about his age, but Hickory reasoned he was in no position to judge. His function was to learn and perform his best as an emissary and squabbling wasn't productive to that end.

"I am Hickory. I've come in the interest of knowing about your pack. For you see, rumors have it around all corners of the world that the Fifth Wind is coming.

Now, these could just be legends and folklore, but too much is observed about the Borealis' growth in the last three moons and too little is known about them. It is said that the Executioners and the Waters fear the Fifth Wind and are willing to fall with fang and claw over your valleys, but in his wisdom, the Alpha of the Southern Suns has decided to send an envoy-- two of them, excuse me; to understand what's happening in this region."

Hickory paused to get a good breath and let everything he had just said sink in. He put a frontal paw forward as he would've done with the Alpha of the Southern Suns and said in formal poise.

"In the name of the Southern Suns, I'd be thankful if we could hold an audience to discuss the issues at present."

Cypress
"Or we could stay here."

Hickory turned his head quickly towards her; glancing in both extreme confusion and questioning.

"I mean..." she went on. "It seems kind of demanding to ask an Alpha to talk you through a detailed resume of her pack, Hick. If we held a den around here for some time, it might be easier to build a profile to bring back home." She turned from facing her brother to the Black wolf. Cypress had never addressed an Alpha before, so she spoke with leisure in tone towards her. Still, she felt an aura of strength coming from her standing place through her subordinates, so she reacted accordingly to the best of her skill "We can make ourselves useful. In our pack, my brother is a Selsa and I'm in-training. I guess we could benefit each part if we lent you our forces through Freezing Ground."

Hickory softened his experssion towards his sister. Then he took a look at the Alpha and, with a much more relaxed tone, he said "If it is your will, Alpha, this could also be an option. It goes beyond our instruction, but given the benefit, we'd try our best to earn and honor our residence; that and... we'd try to solve whichever complication that could rise with it."

Just hearing the emissary speak made Priam internally wish to see their paws stripped of any flesh and sent walking back home. The way they discussed their pack, it was as if their founding was a problem. As empires do rise and fall, the Broealis rose from the dissent of the four packs. And now the Suns were the first to send "proper" emissaries their way?

Priam felt in his hear that these messengers were nothing more than pawns in a larger game. Priam saw only a handful of logical reasons for as these dogs would show themselves (as Priam felt they deserved to be called, as he did not believe in the diplomacy they brought): perhaps they wanted to see the strength and number of the Borealis, maybe see if they could be conquered easily. Perhaps they were looking for traitors and exiles, ones who joined their cause. Perhaps they were assassins sent to eliminate the leader. That being said, if those fools were brave enough. Or, just maybe, the Suns sought mercy, to ally themselves for their own pathetic protection. Then, when the time is right, overtake the entire pack for their own benefit, and reap in the Fifth Wind as if it were a bubble of fresh air.

"Dear alpha," Priam began, "do excuse my behavior. I feel that, as a selsa, I must remain on guard from.... foreign presences," he said as he motioned towards them, "but Hickory do forgive me. I'm afraid I take my job quite seriously."

Priam could barely believe his own words, but in this matter, the mission was more over the opinion. He detested them, felt wary of their presence. With so many of the Borealis having fled the alphas of the packs such as the Suns, Priam saw no cause for diplomacy. Yet, it was best to support the cares of a superior. Nonetheless, he sought better terms from the Southerner.

"Now you must excuse me, I must now talk to the fallen one," the male said as he made his way over rather abruptly.

"You're a Mountaineer. I can tell by your coat. Not mine, surely, but my father taught me that you can discern our kind based off of the pelt. Who was your father?"
