That One Fear In My Enemy's Eyes
The World's Wing:
The Dragon's Maw Gateway

It had been taking place for several months now...

Sparks of energy and momentary bursts of power emanating from the Dragon's Maw, a gateway to realms unknown.

No being, Divine or otherwise, had used it since before even the Dragon Race's birth. Who created it? What was it for? Who would be in control of it? And just what kind of fearsome power was amassing beyond that glowing mirror-like center?

The Dragon Race had felt it since the beginning. Power beyond the Gateway growing steadily stronger day by day as if something was growing closer and closer to their world. They could feel the power no matter where in the world they were which spoke volumes as to how powerful the being, or beings, generating it must have been.

Far to the Northwest in Sehrehn, a young Dragon currently in his human form stood on the beach staring at the sea.

Behind him was someone new who had recently joined his company on the road. She was a beautiful young human woman with long light red hair clad in ebon armor wielding a finely crafted sword. A warrior true, and a fighter through and through. She was strong, fast, agile, and she knew of his reputation and position as the infamous Red-Eyed Demon. In fact she'd been sent to kill him by her client. But upon meeting him in combat she was overpowered and restrained. Having accepted her fate, she was shocked when he spared her life and chose to continue on his way. Out of curiosity as to why he spared her life she tagged along and has been at his side ever since trying to uncover the mysteries surrounding him.

But she will not know of his heritage. She cannot know. If she knew he was a Dragon she would abandon him or worse, try to kill him again. And if she did she would not dare do so alone. She would likely attempt to rally others to join her. She had already revealed a deep hatred of Dragons, her father having fallen to the claws and teeth of a Rogue Dragon when she was young.

Despite her hatred of his kind and her feisty attitude, he enjoyed her company. It took the usual monotony out of traveling as well as much of the loneliness which came with it.

...

Back at the base of the Dragon's Maw, the King of Dragons stood in his mighty white Dragon form with a small army of Dragons behind him ready to stand by his side if the need to do battle arose.

The Dragons would be the first line of defense for this world... Or its last.
