[IC] Catching a Troublemaker

VIRGO CAPRI

Virgo smiled in glee at such an answer. That was exactly right! There were multiple Kishins and/or other creatures with odd appearances roaming around Death City, but he didn't hear of a green or small one. Heck, most of them weren't even talked about individually!  With a green creature who's mischievous inJUSTICE was talked about throughout the city in the manner of a week or two, there was no WAY they could fail this mission! He giggled to himself cheerfully as he took another sip. This was so exciting! Virgo might complete his first mission in only a short time! At her question, Virgo gasped and opened his mouth, ready to excitedly babble about all the wonders root beer, and even soda itself, had to offer. "Well, ya see, it all started-ACK!"

And just like that, a thirty-minute answer was stopped short from a pull by Naia and a cry of distress from a woman. Green eyes quickly looked around their surroundings before they locked onto something in the distance, causing him to gasp loudly. Oh No! ...SENTIENT UNDERWEAR! He jumped in surprise. Was it a Kishin?! Did it have powers?! Did it have an allegiance to the green-oh. Virgo blinked as he watched the green creature throw the underwear from off his head before running again. He then breathed a sigh of relief. Phew! It was just the green creature under the under-wear. He giggled at both the repetition of his inner-thoughts and the fact he thought the creature was living underwear.

At Naia's response, Virgo nodded and took out his phone, only to blink as he had already received a message from Jack. Wow! Jack sure was a fast texter!
"Look, Naia! Jack texted us first!" He told the girl, too focused on the phone to notice the green smoke, as well as the change in smell. "Lets see...it says here that the 'Target is running toward the factory' and to 'Be wary of-'...Stinky Green Smoke?" Virgo said confusedly, looking up at Naia for an answer, only to blink in surprise at the clouds of green smoke passing by. Oh. That. Whelp! It was time to catch the creature! But like everyone said, it was best to do it together and NOT alone! Based on the little creature's tricks, Virgo was glad Naia was here. Speaking of which, he looked up at her again, noticing how she reacted to the smell. Hmmm...

His eyes widened and he snapped his fingers.
"Hey, Naia! Now's the perfect time to try and match our wavelength things now! You can't smell the smoke in weapon form, right? And we'll be super prepared when we meet up with the others at the factory!" Virgo suggested. If she transformed now, he could just hold her there and they wouldn't have to worry about transforming on the way there. Plus, he didn't mind the smoke at all!

Naia Mahiʻai

Naia listened to Vigro read out Jack's message, though her eyes didn't leave the creature. She coughed once more, before she shook her head a tad with her hand still in it's place"Be wary of green smoke... Gathered that one already." She commented under her breath to herself, as she turned to look to Virgo. He didn't really need to finish his last few sentences about her transforming, because she'd already begun to do so the second he finished talking about their wavelengths. Her body became a flash of what looked to be a pale green, nearly white, light. The light gathered itself in the palm of Virgo's hand, and dispersed to leave behind a short blade made of what looked to be some kind of white material, otherwise known as bone, with the handle wrapped tightly in old looking cloth, bound at one end by string. Two blue feathers hung off the bottom end of the handle opposite the blade, completing the look of Naia's weapon form now resting in her meister's hand.

An audible sigh of relief left her, glad to be 'away' from the stench of the smoke for the time being. This was about as far as she understood of what to do, as the last time she'd transformed with a partner he'd mostly done the rest himself. With Virgo, however, she had a feeling he didn't know how to go about matching their wavelengths, and neither did she for that matter. She supposed they could take a moment or two to try and figure this out. She racked her brain trying to remember what they learned in class. "Okay... " She started, though it was not through any kind of link as that had yet to happen, her voice seemingly coming from the dagger, "I do not know how this is supposed to work for you, but we need to get our soul's wavelengths to match somehow. Try to sense my soul?" She finished, throwing a random suggestion out at the end, as she let her eyes drift closed where she was inside her soul space. She was hoping, pushing, reaching, and searching for Virgo's soul. She was only able to find a small glimmer of said soul, mostly due to her own inexperience, but she didn't stop trying, hoping Virgo would do the same somehow.

She seemed to be quite relaxed, calm, collected even, despite not knowing what she was doing. Whether she was trying to keep that attitude up for her sake, or her partner's was unknown even to her, as it just felt natural. Somewhere in the back of her mind, she knew they couldn't spend all day working on this, and because of that she decided if they couldn't get it soon, they'd have to move on for the time being and head towards the factory after that creature before it could cause any more damage.

Virgo & Naia

Virgo couldn't help but blink in surprise when Naia had already seemed to be transforming after he just finished, but his surprise quickly turned to excitement as he felt her land in his hand. She felt light. Small and light. He looked on in awe as her transformation ended, the weapon now in his hands. It was a knife, or dagger to be more specific, the blade made of bone and the handle wrapped in soft, but old-looking cloth. It even had blue feathers hanging off the end! In Virgo's opinion, she looked pretty cool!

...but why did he have a sort of dreadful feeling when holding her? He frowned and gripped her handle lightly. He held plenty of sharp objects before, but they were just used to spread butter and jam or cut bread. He'd actually have to fight with this. Virgo pursed his lips, looking at the green smoke. If traps didn't work, and if talking had the same result, would he be able to go through with a fight? And what would happen if he accidentally…?

Virgo shook his head when Naia began to speak, looking back down at the dagger and tilting his head. Right. Time to focus! He nodded when she mentioned matching the wavelength, but was a bit lost on the subject of ‘Sensing’ her soul. He didn't know what she meant by that exactly, but he at least had to try. “Right! Here I go!” Virgo said and looked intently at the dagger. And looked at it. And looked at it. He pouted and narrowed his eyes. Come on, Capri! You could do this! He closed his eyes tightly, feeling a small headache coming on, yet ignored it. He felt so close.

Just. A little. Mo-

He jumped as he saw something flash. What was that?! He quickly opened his eyes and looked around, but saw the same green smoke and running people. He slowly looked down at Naia again. Was it? He closed his eyes again and concentrated, and for some reason, the headache came back, just lighter this time. Confused, he concentrated harder, gasping as he saw the flash again. Yet it stayed, and as he waited a bit, it grew a little dimmer before he saw it. Just... Floating there.

“Na-Naia! I see it! I see it!” He whispered excitedly. He was actually looking at a soul! A real soul! The soul of his partner nonetheless! “What's next?”

While Virgo made his attempts to find his partner’s soul, the weapon girl’s search continued to be fruitless at best. Past that first glimmer, Naia was having a considerably hard time locating her meister’s soul. All she’d seen in the time since was darkness. Maybe she hadn’t tried hard enough yet… Her concentration increased, but didn’t seem to help much. What would happen if she was to be completely…

That train of thought stopped when something other than the unending darkness finally caught her eye. She found herself drawn towards the flash of light she’d seen, hoping she was doing something right and that flash was indeed Virgo’s soul. Her concentration lead her to not pay attention to the outside world, and as such she was very much surprised when she heard her meister’s exclamation and question.

“Great! I have no idea what’s next…” Came her distracted response, as she wondered how he’d managed to find her soul. She continued to look for his, felt like she was getting closer for a minute there, as she really had no advice to give him at this point, since she had no idea what he was experiencing or seeing.

Virgo's eyes lit up at her praise...only for it to dim when she finished her response. Could she see his? He looked at her soul in thought, wondering what to do now that they both didn't know what to do. He narrowed his eyes and thought harder. Think, Virgo, Think! You read some books on souls! There must've been something he skimmed! He pursed his lips. Let's see...wavelengths. Wavelengths. He tapped his cheeks in thought. And Tapped. His eyes slowly widened as he tapped in a certain rhythm.

Rhythm.

Being the rhythm of the soul itself, the Soul Wavelength carries some of the characteristics of a character that helps a user of Soul Perception determine the type of characteristics of an individual.

His eyes widened. Rhythm! He looked down at her soul and blinked. It did seem... Rather calm. He slowly raised a hand to his heart and felt it beat, noticing how fast it was. If they wanted to match wavelengths...did that mean they had to match rhythm? He shrugged. Whelp, it was the only thing he had! He nodded. Alright!

“Naia, I have an Idea. If we both concentrate really hard, we might be able to do it.” He closed his eyes tight before inhaling deeply, and exhaling slowly. Have the same focus Naia, Be as calm as Naia. He could do this. He felt his heart beat a little slower, and he squeezed her handle just a little. They were close. He could feel it!

Naia blinked at Virgo’s response, wondering just what he’d figured out. She decided that if she couldn’t find his soul, she’d just imagine it. She closed her eyes, and thought about Virgo and what she knew about his personality so far. In her mind, she imagined a hyper, excited soul for her meister. She concentrated hard, as he’d said, and her soul’s calm image would excite just a tad to meet his probably hyper one in the middle. Virgo had figured it out. Their wavelengths began to match and mesh together because of their combined efforts.

For Naia, that lead to the black turning to a bright light of white as a familiar feeling of home washed over her. Slowly, the area around her began to fill in. The once empty void became a vast green span of grass, a gentle breeze brushing the tops of the plant-life peacefully. As their connection grew stronger, the picture filled in more, until it eventually stabilized. When Naia opened her eyes, she found herself met with a sight she hadn’t seen since she’d been invited to attend the DWMA.

She was standing near the center of a ring of conical tents, in a span of green grass. Each had a heavy cloth door and were made of a strong hide material. Only a few steps in front of her, was a low burning fire in a circle of stones. Smoke billowed out a gap in the top of the largest tent, the chieftains. It was different from the first time she’d linked with someone, but it felt so right. It felt like home.

“So this is a soul-space…” She murmured, as her eyes wandered around the space. A grin grew on her normally calm features. “We did it!”

Virgo, eyes closed and breathing slow, could feel it, he really could! At first, it was a feeling of similarity, as if him and Naia, for the first time, had something in common besides their allegiance to the DWMA. And then, it was a sort of blending feeling, their two souls intertwining to create a strong bond between each other. Before Virgo knew it, the black space surrounding Naia’s soul was transforming, causing him to gasp and smack his cheeks in surprise.

No longer was he surrounded by buildings and green smoke, but was now surrounded by tents and green grass. His cape flapped in the breeze, and as he looked around in awe, he saw a fire surrounded by stones just a few feet in front of him. Hearing Naia’s voice, he blinked and looked across from the fire to find Naia standing across from him. And logically, he did what any meister would do in his shoes…

Zoomed around the fire and hugged her.

“This. Is so. Exciting!” He squealed and looked up at her. “I mean, I always thought having a weapon partner would be cool, but now, it just got even cooler!” Virgo said, letting go and looking around. Crouching, he stared into the fire and held his hands out a little. It felt so...so real. Tilting his head, he looked back at Naia and stared at the pale-green soul just glowing at her chest, floating there. “...Hey, Naia? Is this...your home?” He didn’t know what a soul-space was like his partner, but due to the fact they both shared a sort of tribal look and the expression she gave it, even someone as Naive as he could make this assumption.

The excited hug surprised Naia for a moment, before his contagious excitement lead to her returning the motion best she could with their height difference. Her grin changed into a peaceful smile that stayed even after their happy embrace ended. Her eyes moved around the circle before his question hit her ears.

“Yeah… This is my home.” She answered, a wistful look made it’s way onto her features as she spoke. For a moment, she lingered there at Virgo’s side, before she walked towards one of the smaller tents. She didn’t go inside, seemingly content to linger by the door and run her hand over the fabric covering that felt so real. So much like what she’d grown up feeling. “So different from Death City. I miss this, the simplicity….” She mused, her back still turned away from her partner, “I don’t regret coming to the DWMA though. It might be different, but there’s so much more I can learn. So many more people I can get to know. Like you, Virgo.” She finished, her body turned back towards him as she spoke.

The peaceful look on her face drifted away to something a little more serious when she finally remembered they were on a job. That they had teammates to meet up with and a troublemaker to catch. “We should get moving towards the factory.” She commented idly.

Virgo nodded at her answer, looking at her face the whole time. She looked so...peaceful. Even more so than usual. He watched as she moved to one of the tents, stopping and taking the time to run a hand across the hide. He couldn’t help but smile widely at this, his heart swelling in happiness. It always felt so good seeing a friend be so content. Naia must’ve missed her home a lot. It must’ve been a huge relief to see it again…

‘At least some of us can go back home.’ He thought in his head as his smile twitched a bit, yet he shook his head, surprised he even thought of such a thing.. He tuned back into reality when she began to speak again. Even if he didn’t cause it, he still felt a bit guilty due to her missing her more simple life. But he lit up again when she finished, his smile coming back and only getting wider after she mentioned him. He couldn’t help but blush and look away, waving his hand dismissively. “D’aw!”

It was time, however, to get a little more serious again. At Naia’s comment, Virgo blinked before nodding with a determined look and turning away from her. “Yes! Let us apprehend this fiend in the name of JUSTICE!” Virgo exclaimed before throwing up his arms. And with that, everything around disappeared, and he was back into the real world as if he’d just opened his eyes. Looking around, he noticed the smoke was still there, yet most people seem to have found some sort of shelter or a way to plug their nose.

Looking down at his hand, he smiled at the sight of Naia still in his hands, causing him to nod before he took off in the direction towards to the factory. If he didn’t know before, he knew now that he couldn’t mess up this mission. Not when he had a partner that was counting on him. He’d find a way to capture the creature with hurting it too much, or even better, without hurting it at all.

‘After all,’ Virgo thought as he ran with a big grin. ‘JUSTICE always finds a way!’

Jack E. Trinity

“I’m glad you aren’t one” Jack replied, his fingers wrapping around the hilt of the short sword as Kalin completed his transformation.  “Storybook heroes tend to encounter a myriad of difficulties for the sake of an interesting plot.”

Slipping his phone into the inner pocket of his blazer, Jack took a deep breath, his free hand moving to keep his bowler hat in place. He could see the path he wanted to take in the dark alley. Now to take it. Not bothering to hesitate, the NOT student got a running start, jumped, kicked off the lid of a trash container, and kicked off the ledge of a window, until finally landing on the roof of a square house. It wasn’t any more difficult than the obstacle course his uncle had him run in middle school. For once, he was grateful for all the drills he was forced to do in his youth. Not that the Grim Reaper’s academy hadn’t done its part in keeping him fit and healthy. Everything from Fuller’s outdoor lessons to DWMA’s stairway was designed to maintain the physical wellbeing of DWMA’s students.

Or train soldiers.

There were two reasons Jack decided to get to higher ground. One was to escape the stench that was steadily reaching his ally. The other was to get a clearer sight of the gremlin from a higher vantage point without being easily seen—unless the critter decided to look up. Feet moving, one in front of the other, Jack began the chase even as he continued to talk—his eyes trailing after the small creature on the ground as he navigated from rooftop to rooftop. The key was to not stop moving.

And not look down too often.

“I’ve always thought  Galahad  to be a fascinating choice for a username,” Jack commented conversationally to the weapon in his hand. He’d taken to referring to Kalin as Kalin when the blonde was in his human form and Galahad when he was in his weapon form.  It seemed more fitting for a grand-looking short sword to have a grand name—like Excalibur, Durandal, or other swords of legends. Kalin had named himself after one of the Knights of the Round in Arthurian legend and—after seeing Kalin’s soul scape for the first time—Jack could imagine why.  Though… “King Arthur had many knights. Why did you chose Galahad in particular? You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to. It’s just an idle curiosity—because I’m considering choosing one of my own.”

Talking kept his mind from focusing on how much he wanted to leap down and cut up the thief who stole his beloved die. It also served to keep the atmosphere light—since his partner still seemed to upset about the whole farmer episode. Even if Jack weren’t Kalin’s meister, didn’t have his soul in contact with Kalin’s, and hadn’t spent a bit of time observing his NOT-mate, the resigned expression on Kalin’s face right before he morphed was a dead giveaway. Jack had clearly said something wrong…something unknowingly hurtful.

Not like I haven’t done that before.

Still Jack continued without pause. “I asked my Uncle once—while I was working on my application—why DWMA students have nicknames. He said there were many reasons for people to keep their real identities hidden—especially those working for Lord Death.  Believe it or not, I’d even read that some witches can track you down if they know your true name. So I’ve been think that I’d might pick one as well…at least something to use just in case. Nothing elaborate like Golden Soul of Justice; It doesn’t even have to be anything meaningful…”

The sound of some unintelligible gibberish from bellow drew Jack’s attention to the little thief he’d been stalking and his expression hardened.

“After we finish the mission, of course.”

Fortunately it had stubby legs so keeping it within sight hadn’t been terribly difficult. Stopping at the edge of a rooftop, just short of the factory, Jack watched as the creature disappeared within. It was better to have the creature enter an enclosed establishment than let it roam Death City—at least, that was Jack’s  logic. If they could trap the gremlin inside the factory all the better.  Removing his hand from where it’d been holding his hat in place, Jack pulled his phone and texted to Virgo and Kassana that he and Kalin were at the enemy base. And, just so they wouldn’t be lost, he snapped a picture of the building and sent it to them as well. Jack spoke through his and Kalin's link.

What do you think, Ka—Galahad? We have two close ranged combatants and one long ranged one. Virgo and I can try to jump the imp together while Dakota and Kassana provide cover fire. Or we can work together to lure it into Kasana’s firing range. Regarding the latter option, I’m worried that Dakota won’t be able to shoot well, since she’s never worked with Kassana before…and she doesn’t strike me as the fighting type. As for Virgo and Naia…I honestly don’t know.

It wasn’t like Jack too be so cautious—especially with a creature that barely reached half his height. However, without his die, Jack found a storm of worries flashing in his mind. Options. So many. Which was right one? What if he made a mistake without his die? A pounding headache caused Jack to reach into his pocket and pull out his glasses, slipping it back on. There were too many souls in death city. And when there were too many people, he couldn’t focus without them.

There’s another thing I’m worried about.

Climbing down from the roof he was on, Jack entered the factory grounds, but not the main building. Instead he stood outside, twirling Kalin in his right hand and a phone in his other as he stared at the industrial building analytically.

If we take fighting to the extreme, we risk injuring any workers that may be inside. Jack hadn’t sensed any souls before putting back on his glasses, but then it had been terribly difficult for him to focus, what with the sheer amount of people in Death City. With that in mind, do you think we should scout the building ahead of time—to check for any potential obstacles while keeping out of the gremlin's sight—or wait and regroup with the others?

Kassana Silverstream

The silver haired weapon girl listened as her meister relayed messages that she was apparently receiving on her phone. She wasn’t quite sure who they were coming from because Dakota never specified, but she also wasn’t sure that the person messaging them was important at the moment. “Got it,” she replied to her meister, keeping the communication simple because she knew that she herself wasn’t in the best shape in the world. If she talked too much while she was running, she wouldn’t be able to run anymore.

Kassana knew the way to the factory, though, so she could continue moving in that direction and it seemed that Dakota was content with that plan for now.

When they reached the factory, Kassana looked around hoping to find the others on their team somewhere nearby and she was quite surprised when she didn’t see them initially. She could smell the remnant scent of the green smoke that had been mentioned, though, and it was such that she started coughing for a moment.

She stopped running so she could gather her surroundings and then she turned to her meister. “Do you see them, Dakota? Am I missing something?” There was a sound from the factory - probably a completely normal sound, actually - that made Kassana jump and she stepped away from the building just a bit. “Uhm, maybe I should transform.” She knew that she would feel safer that way, but she wasn’t sure if Dakota was ok with that.

Then again, the were on a DWMA mission. Dakota ought to be.

A silvery aura enveloped the silver-haired girl and she was wrapped in it before her body began to take on the shape of her weapon form, spinning into the air within reach of Dakota’s hands.

@Zenaida

Note: If either of the other two pairings are nearby, Kassana just didn't see them. I'm not intending to force them to not be there.

                                                                                                            Kalin Mickleson "Galahad"

Kalin, no, Galahad, felt different in his hands. Not uncomfortable, but different.

Galahad found his partner's dexterity both admirable and surprising. He wasn't sure why though. It was fitting for a Meister of a weapon his size and caliber. Agility and speed would be key in future encounters. 'Some famous person said something about not doing things because they were easy, but because they are hard,' He pauses for a moment, trying to relay it in a manner that his partner would understand. It took Kalin a moment or two to find the common ground he couldn't while trying to be Galahad.  'When you're playing a Video Game, you don't play it on the easiest difficulty if you know you can handle normal or hard. It's no fun.'

Kalin took another moment to be astonished that his partner was jumping from roof to roof like a guy from....one of those... vigilante movies that he wasn't allowed to see. Then again, this is the DWMA. Still, the scrawny scrap of a boy acknowledges that it'd take him at least a year till he felt comfortable doing what Jack was. Galahad however, continues to respond to questions through his soul link with Jack.

'Galahad...Galahad was a bastard, but He drew a sword from a stone that could only be wielded by the greatest knight in all the land. He was the purest of them all, the one destined to seek the grail. And most importantly... he knew when it was his time to die. Kalin was told stories of him. He remembers those times fondly. He aspires to that ideal. That is why he's here. It was an appropriate name.'

Galahad cared little about what his Meister decided to call himself. That was a choice he had to make. Well, he supposes if he already had a nickname from others, that would suit his needs, but he'd still need to make the decision to adopt it officially. Kalin had only heard the zombie from the carnival give Jack a nickname, and he didn't think that'd work.

However, what did matter is how they approached this and it had been reaffirmed who should do the talking. 'We'll corner it in the factory when we scout ahead. Pull the fire alarm in the factory to get everyone out. And then we'll smite it. That's  all there is to it. Find a way to cover your face holes. Save any damsels in distress we encounter. That includes other teams if they get caught in some form of tomfoolery. Watch out for traps. '

VIRGO CAPRI

Virgo ran down the market as fast as he could, following the direction the little creating took with such determination, you could qualify it as a chase between predator and pray...that is, if predators were known for tripping over boxes, running into stalls, and knocking over people, all in which were obscured in green smoke. But still, Virgo wasn't going to let up anytime soon because of some stinky green smoke! JUSTICE could overcome any obstacle!

SMACK!

...Well, some obstacles. Virgo stumbled back after hitting another stall face first before shaking his head and continuing to run. Now, he needed a plan when he got to the factory. But what? Virgo hummed, a small plan cooking up in his head. In fact, he was so distracted in coming up with this plan, he didn't notice the silvery light that he ran past. Nor did he notice that he had ran past a certain gambler and his sword as well. Virgo didn't even pay attention to the fact that he was now running in the factory grounds! All he could focus on was a solid plan. Finally, after a few more seconds of quiet thinking, Virgo gasped. "Naia! I know how we can capture it without having to hurt it!" He said to the dagger. "What if we-?"

SMACK!

Virgo had stopped running, but not because he was tired or he decided to stop and talk to Naia, but because of the fact he ran face-first into the factory doors. Face still in the door, which may have cracked a little, his hands twitched before he slowly put them on the door and pushed himself off, a loud comedic Pop sounding as he did so. Eyes crossed and vision a bit wobbly, he stumbled around and held his head in pain. "W-We...ge-get a-a bottle...o-of as-aspirin." He stuttered to Naia before stumbling into the door, pushing it in and falling inside the factory. And as he laid on the floor, he felt his phone buzz in his pocket, causing him to take it out and look to see it was a message from Jack. Blinking, he opened it to see...

A picture of the factory from the outside.

Tilting his head as the blurs cleared, he looked around and blinked at all the moving machinery he saw before he gasped in delight. Quickly, he stood up and snapped a few photos of it before sending the more visually appealing one to Jack, typing 'Already Located, Teammate!' under it. Putting his phone away, he turned to the door and waited for the others. "Naia." He whispered, rubbing the big bump on his head with a proud smile. "I think I lost my plan!"

⤿ Dakota Eimear ⤾

Dakota continued to follow Kassana quietly, merely observing the people affected by the creatures antics as they passed them. The smell of the smoke lingered in the air as they moved, though she had an easy enough time blocking it out while they ran. When the pair arrived at the factory grounds, she too found herself looking for the others, but either they'd arrived at a different spot on the grounds, weren't there yet, or were already inside. She shrugged a little in response to her seeing them or if the other girl was missing something.

"We'll probably f-find them eventually..." Came her spoke response to the question, as she jumped to apparently the same noise as the weapon girl. They both were so very brave, it seemed. She didn't get a chance to say anything to Kassana before the other girl was covered from her view by a bright, silvery light. Realizing she actually had to play her part now, sort of, she reached out and grabbed a hold of the spinning slingshot. Out of the corner of her eye, something moved quickly past them, which went ignored for the time being. A very light frown was etched in her face upon first seeing her partner's completed transformation, which was quickly wiped away to avoid misconceptions about it. She wasn't frowning at Kassana, more at herself and her own capabilities but it could easily be mistaken otherwise. It was probably quite obvious to anyone she was nervous, even more so then normal for her.

Her phone went off in her pocket again only moments after she grabbed the slingshot, but for the moment she chose to ignore it.  "You've got a very nice weapon form, Kassana." A small smile found it's way to her face as she spoke aloud though it wasn't needed, for once not stuttering as she tried to cheer the other up a touch. She might have forgotten most things from her time as EAT, but some skills were very hard to forget, like soul linking. By the time she began to speak, she'd already matched her wavelength to Kasssana's enough to establish a basic connection to be able to work together properly. Her attention was grabbed again as she realized the movement she'd caught earlier was Virgo as he dashed towards the factory doors somewhere farther down the building...

Finally, she pulled her phone out with her free hand, and her eyes scanned the new message from Jack -- A picture of the Factory from a seemingly higher vantage point included -- and her smile moved upwards slightly. Jack and Kalin are here, just... t-that way more... I-I think... She confirmed the weapons earlier questions, this time through the newly established link, and gestured with the phone towards the factory grounds ahead of them along the building, And I think V-Virgo dashed by e-earlier... with Naia I a-asume because she wasn't r-running with him... She finished as she began to walk in that direction. She was in no real hurry to get there, and it wouldn't do any good if all of them got stuck in some sort of trap or the thing attacked her before the other two could get to it. Still, her walk was brisk and somewhere close to jogging. Her phone found it's way back into her pocket and her grip was tight on the slingshot. They must not have been very far from the door at all, because she heard the audible bang of something running into them. Whatever that was, she seriously hoped it wasn't bad.

As the group made their way to the factory, it wasn't hard for those standing around to notice something strange. The already foggy windows seemed to cloud up more, a green smog seeming to fill the inside of the factory. The gas cloud slowly leaked from the doors. Even from a distance the stench of the gas could be picked up. The smell of rotting eggs was just a tiny bit and the most pleasant aroma that the gas whiffed through t he air. Those who had found their way in, however, were greeting with a more direct 'smell' of it.  It was a quite hard smell to ignore as the green clouds went up the nose of Virgo. The strench would practically burn at the nostrils as it went in. it was as if you got a good smell of every single type of food whether pleasant or not all being picked up at once... and all horribly rotten laying at the  bottom of a sewer. The green cloud seemed to be coming out of what looked to be a shrunken 'zombie head' of sorts.

zombie_head_slice_by_faceone38.jpg

The fumes seeped from the mouth, portions slipping free fronm the various cracks ub ut, The one eye appeared to be our of marble while the other was... a bit eerily life like.  It looked as if it was staring upon Virgo from where it sat. It was easy enough to tell at the very least if it had been something living, it was long since perished... or if it was even living at any point was a likely tricky thing to do without carefully examining the decayed looking thing.  The factory itself looked abandoned, very little signs of people having been there. The factory itself was considered 'shut down' for the day, primarily to be inspected.

Ontop of one of the large furnaces, a big green head peeked over only to slide away, the sound of pitter pattering able to be heard as the glimpse of the small creature could be seen running with its stick heading further into the factory, not able to be clearly seen as it made its way along the conveyer belts seeming to avoid the big machinery still running.

Jack E. Trinity

Around the time that Galahad finished talking about tomfoolery, Jack received a message from Virgo stating that the African American meister was already there—along with several photos of machinery. “Looks we’re too late.”

Indeed, as Jack approached the main factory building from the front, he saw the doors were already wide open. And standing inside the factory was the Golden Soul of Justice, wielding a bone knife Jack knew to be Naia.   The slight crack on the door and the bump on the small boy’s head was enough for Jack to deduce what had happened—even without having seen the collision. Jack might have chuckled, if not for the putrid stench that escaped the opening. He instinctively blocked  his nose with his arm (the one holding the phone). “Bloody hell! It smells like something died in there.”

But there was no helping it. To catch gremlin that stole his die, he’d have to enter the factory regardless of whether he came in from the front, the back, or the window. Which reminded him…

I don’t like the little bugger either. But if we smite it before it talks, the chance of me finding my die dwindles.

It was a little strange talking to Kalin as if he were someone else. Galahad was braver than Kalin. Wiser. More confident/cocky. But it was still Kalin. The soul was still the same…it just…changed shape. Jack didn’t know why Kalin felt he needed to pretend to be someone else, but he really didn’t mind playing along—especially if it would help him find his die. Pretend games were  games. And if Kalin could pretend to be who he wanted to be, that meant he already knew how.

Slipping his phone into the pocket of his blazer, Jack searched around a bit with his hand before pulling out a white handkerchief. He wrapped the cloth around his face so it covered the bottom half—like a bandit mask—before stepping up beside Virgo.

“The enemy probably knows we’re here,” Jack stated to the short African American meister, pushing up his glasses as he looked around at all the operating machinery. He was glad he wore glasses. It kept the disgusting looking green smoke from getting into his eyes…though it blocked out soul perception.  “If you want to talk to it, you’ll have to call out to it. That was your plan, right?”

I’ll be counting on you to keep your eyes peeled.  Jack silently addressed the short sword.

If Virgo was going to act reckless, he’d need someone to cover for him. And Jack didn’t know where Dakota was…though he didn’t like the thought of his quiet NOT-mate walking into a trap. Her soft-spoken demeanor drew forth feelings of protectiveness from Jack...despite the fact that she was the more experienced meister and had been in DWMA for much longer. Violet eyes roamed until it found its way to a decayed looking head beside Virgo. Jack blinked. Seeing as his uncle was a zombie, the sight didn’t disturb the dice-lover as much as it should’ve. Still…it wasn’t the most pleasant of sights. He pointed Kalin/Galahad at the gruesome head that green smoke seemed to be leaking from. Even with his mask, the scent in the air made Jack a little nauseous.

To break or not to break…?

Jack posed the question to his partner. After all, it wouldn't be him cutting through the gross-looking head. He was half hoping someone else would volunteer to do the dirty deed.

Naia Mahiʻai

Naia didn't do much other than wince whenever Virgo ran into a merchants stall, fell over something, or knocked someone over. There really wasn't much she could do anyway. She did however, notice that silvery light and the gambler he dashed past, but was not much concerned about saying anything at all about them, for the fact that there was a slightly bigger and more painful issue up ahead. Was it a good idea to warn him? He didn't seem to have noticed that metal door he was headed for, for whatever reason. She wasn't quite sure on that one.  Still, she made use of their link to make a hasty warning, paying no mind to what the meister was excitedly telling her aloud. Virgo, you really sho-

Too late...

"Are you alright?" She questioned, concerned about his health after hitting the door so hard. She was slightly confused at this 'Aspirin' thing he spoke of, but shook it off as he stumbled into the factory... to be met with more disgusting looking smoke, that probably smelled just as bad, or worse. Due to the fact that Virgo had ended up on the ground, she really couldn't see the disturbing skull that was the source until he finally stood up with his phone in hand. While he seemed to be... doing something with his phone to the surrounding area... she was scanning the area around them, or what she could see of it from her spot in Virgo's hand. Her eyes locked on the skull, and she was entirely glad she was not a human at the moment, for that fact that she was not stomaching this very well at all. She turned her focus away as Virgo spoke about his plan--which she didn't even know he had--and sighed.

"Well, I suppose you will have to come up with another. Maybe with the help of the others this time though..." She replied aloud, just before they were joined by their dice-loving team-mate and his grand looking sword that was Kalin. He's got a point, Virgo. I suppose it probably wasn't the best idea to just rush in here. We could have walked right into a trap. Are you going to try to talk to it? She inquired after the sword-meister finished speaking.

Virgo nodded in agreement. He could come up with another plan! JUSTICE was full of surpri-UGH! The hand that wasn't holding onto Naia immediately flew to his nose as his eyes widened, the smell having finally penetrated through his shield of his determined and distracted mind. Virgo had encounter many smells such as this when wandering around as a child, but he never smelled something this...this foul! It was like the forces of evil played in the mud and didn't take a shower for two weeks! By the time Jack made it inside, Virgo's eyes were slightly tearing up at how bad the smell was. Hearing Jack, Virgo's eyes widened as he remembered the plan he had! Although he was slightly guilty for revealing their location, he was sure this plan would work so well, it wouldn't matter. 'Yep!' Virgo said through the link, finding it strange, yet incredibly cool that they could communicate this way.

Clearing his throat, he stepped forward, looking through the smoke and humming, giving the skull a side-glance for a moment, before looking back up into the smoke. "Hello? Mr or Ms..." He scratched his head in confusion before shrugging. "...Gooooblin?" He drawled out before continuing. "Are you still here?! We're not here to fight, okay? We're just here to talk!" He said, hiding Naia behind his back. Grinning, he reached into his pocket and pulled out the second root beer he'd been giving. "If you come out, we can make a trade! You talk to us, and we'll give you a sweet. fizzy treat!"

Kassana Silverstream

Now transformed and in her meister’s hands, Kassana could already feel the results of her training with her former meister taking effect as her soul melded and adopted the tune of her meister’s own, getting to as close of a match as she could safely manage at that precise moment in time. She did notice one thing about Dakota’s soul that caught her attention and it wasn’t something she had considered to be even possible before. Dakota’s soul was faint, quiet, almost hard to hear even when she was supposed to be able to perceive these things better in her weapon form. For a moment, she wanted to ask about it because of her inquisitive nature, but she kept herself from saying anything for the time being.

In regards to Dakota’s comment about her weapon form, Kassana said nothing. She knew that if she tried to say anything about that, then she would get herself all worked up and then nothing would work right.

‘That’s good to know,’ she made herself heard briefly when Dakota mentioned that Jack and Kalin were there. ‘It probably would not have been wise for us to try to go in alone and now we shouldn’t have to.’ All of her words were spoken directly into her meister’s mind and they were sent through the soul link that Kassana’s soul essentially knew how to establish without any help. It was one of her more unique qualities that she still didn’t understand.

As her partner started running, Kassana reached out with her own soul senses to see if she could find their comrades because it was starting to feel more and more imperative that they all be together for this part. And she found them, too. Kassana could sense the glow of the four souls of their friends and… well, something else too. She wasn’t quite sure if she could call it a soul and the very sense of it alone just felt very icky too her. She couldn’t get too caught up in that ickiness, though, because she had to make sure Dakota got them there first.

Through the soul link, Kassana created a mental map for Dakota to follow. ‘They’re this way. Be careful. There’s something… uhm… odd there with them.’

The little creature popped its head out from behind one of the machines before ducking back down. Its body jumping back to another machine. It was at that moment a groan came from the strange zombified head. More of the foul odor slipping out of the mouth as it spoke almost like it had bad breath. The voice from the skull was... quite proper and civilized sounding, nothing like the strange higher pitched jumble of sounds the actual creature was jabbering out in his down town rampage.

"Excuse me good Sirs and Ma'am, but the Master does not appreciate such intruders upon his fiery fiesta extravaganza. If you would be so kind as to exit the factory in a orderly fashion it would be most appreciated. Be careful of the ticking device as well on your way out, the Master would prefer you didn't unintentionally set it off before time and and make quick work of this factory before it is the correct time." The voice epoke with the one eye glowing. Its jaw suddenly snapped off letting out a bit more of the noxious smell. The sound of distant almost ritualistic gibberish could be heard as the creature could be seen shifting by on the conveyor belt lifting its staff above its head as if in celebration.

It wouldn't take long after the words were spoken and an observant eye might catch hold of the so called devise. A drum was sat upon the floor, propped up in place with various random goods that the creature had take from around the town. A face was planted on top consisting of a large melon with a mouth crudely cut in it. An ice cream cone somehow was shoved into what was meant to be one eye and a knife through the other. On the 'head' a bowl of spaghetti rested acting as a hat and 'hair' with a... bra on top of that... it was quite a terrible attempt at art. The issue however was the timer resting on it, the timer upside down although a quick look over it wasn't hard to tell it was at 43 seconds. Various wires jutted from the timer attacked to what appeared far too much like an explosive device.

Wait... it looked way to much like the classic Dynomite you see on TV... almost exactly... right down to every detail....

WAS IT ACTUALLY DYNOMITE ATTACHED TO A TIMER? That could easily blow up a good portion of the factor, even worst if whatever was in the can was explosive as well it could casuse a lot more damage not only to the building but areas around. Who knew what kind of hazardous materials might be near the building that could aid in a chain reaction if it was explosive.

The Goblin could be seen further back running swiftly down another conveyorbelt. "AK GEE AK GEE GYA GYA GYA 'OOM 'OOM KYA KYA KYA" Its loud mumbled muttering escaped out as it was hard to tell if it was excited or in some sort of panic.

Kalin 'Galahad' Mickleson

Galahad's attention was immediately brought to the dynamite. He didn't wait a single moment to let his thoughts be heard. 'Go after the bomb. Virgo can waste his time with the head or the goblin, but we cannot afford to let anyone get hurt. If all, goes to hell, prop me up against it in a way that'll deflect the explosion upward rather than outward. Demon Weapons are indestructible, right?' This was a less than optimal situation. He had been prepping himself for combat, but now he needed to think. Bombs, what did he know about bombs. They explode, they have fuses. They can be set off a number of ways. Defusing. He needed to think Defusing.

'I got it! Fire! If it's actually Dynamite,we can do it! Just need to remove the blasting cap! I don't know what a blasting cap looks like but I read about them once! But without it the bomb is useless. You can set it on fire and it won't go boom!' Kalin suddenly and excitedly scrambles to communicate. Other than that, conventional rules probably didn't apply. It was assembled by a little gremlin. Who knows if the device even works. God help them if they have to chose a wire. Jack didn't have his die, and Kalin hated making decisions. Especially when there was more than his dumb life at stake.

Jack E. Trinity

"God. It talks," Was Jack's comment as soon as the disgusting head started speaking in a somewhat civilized manner. Despite the deadpan of his tone, the fifteen year old couldn't help but peer at the thing curiously. Was it a machine? A living corpse? A zombie like his Uncle? Lowering his partner short sword, Jack reached forward--despite the stench-- and plucked the zombie/skull thing from where it was perched on the ground. Any desire to destroy it vanished as soon as it showed signs of sentience. Of course, the contents of its words were quite nerve-wracking. Eyes widening, Jack swiveled in the direction of the dynamite just as Galahad spoke through the link.

He was pleasantly surprised when Kalin also chimed in. The pleasantness was overshadowed by the sight of the bomb attached to the jacked up melon. Virgo's calling seemed to have worked, since he could see--from the corner his eyes--the gremlin popping its head out and  running down the conveyor belt. Though the gibberish spouting from its mouth meant nothing to Jack. 40 seconds left until detonation . Jack swore.

"And here Professor Mitsaki said the worse its done is drop a bucket over someone's head…" Clicking his tongue, the meister hurried over to the bomb despite his instincts. Violet eyes roamed the red sticks, searching for where the blasting caps might be located, though, truthfully, he hadn’t a clue what one might look like either. Or how to safely take it out of a dynamite stick. Bomb defusing wasn’t something any of the NOT classes had gone over.

Should I start dicing up the dynamite sticks until I find the blasting cap?

It sounded ludicrous even in thought. Raising the zombified head by its skull, Jack shook the thing irritably.  “This level seems exceedingly difficult for beginners. At least give us a hint,”

No dice. Then again, given how its jaw had fallen off, Jack didn’t expect a reply . Sighing behind his cloth mask, Jack closed his eyes. If a bomb was going to go off, Jack didn’t want him or his partner to be anywhere near it. Period.  However, letting the bomb explode and destroy the factory without doing anything seemed rather…wrong…as well. Not that there’s anything any of them could do about it. And if that was the case…

Sorry, Galahad. I'm only brave when I have my die.

"Everyone get out now!”

Opening his eyes, Jack acted quickly, slamming his foot into the melon as if it were a football. The action sent the jacked up fruit, the bowl of spaghetti, the timer, and the dynamite, hurling towards the happy little gremlin. Jack didn’t look to see the inevitable explosion because in that same motion, Jack pivoted, running the opposite direction towards the exit with a zombified skull under his arm and Kalin in the other. Tactical retreats were sometimes necessary in war...and Jack had a feeling their battle with the pesky little gremlin was going to be a long drawn one. He could only hope Dakota and Kassanna had kept clear of the factory.

Virgo blinked as he heard a groan, causing him to spin his whole body towards the head. He tilted his head when he saw its mouth slowly open, but his eyes widened when it seemed to start speaking! Not in weird gibberish, but in an actual civilized tone. Virgo smiled excitedly at this, only for this smile to slowly disappear as the head seemed to be disapproving of them here and had politely asked them to leave for a...fiery fiesta extravaganza? Virgo blinked and looked around the room for the device the head mentioned before squinting at a device.

Ooooh! That was the ticking device! He had to admit, it has nice detail! The watermelon was a nice touch, but the spaghetti, in his opinion, tied everything together. He didn't understand what the bra thingy had to do with anything, but he just shrugged it off. He wasn't an artist, and besides, JUSTICE doesn't judge. But he had to admit, where was the whole 'Ticking' part of the...oh. He slowly looked down at the sticks of dynamite. OH. He saw the timer literally TICKING down. OOOOH. It was then Virgo blinked and began to sweat a bit, too in thought to pay attention to what Jack was doing behind him.

Whoo! Okay! Nothing to worry about, Virgo! His smile widened as he felt his nervousness dissolve a bit. Yeah! There WAS nothing to worry about! After all, this skull had extraordinary manners and etiquette. He could just politely ask it to defuse the bomb until they were done their questions and THEN they could possibly workout setting off the bomb in a less populate location. Heck, Virgo could even get some new wires! His smile widened. Yeah. Everything was going to be Oka-

"Everyone get out now!”

Say wha-?

Virgo turned to Jack, about to ask what was wrong, but the short vigilante's eyes literally could not believe what he was seeing. Jack Trinity, his teammate and the current holder of the nice civilized skull, punted the device...AT THE FREAKING GREMLIN! "OH MY GOD!Virgo screamed at the top of his lungs, watching the thing just sail towards the poor gremlin. Wha-Ho-What could he do? Ma-Maybe he could save it! Except...Naia was in his hands. And the seconds were still ticking down. Eyes wide in horror, he found his legs moving on its own...and then he found himself turning around and running toward the door, his heart screaming for him to turn back and do something, yet his mind pushing him further.

Dakota nodded, and her pace picked up a bit as she began following the map Kassana had made. I will be. I just hope they're alright. She replied, worried about her teammates safety now after learning about an odd presence within the factory. Her feet carried her towards the others as fast as she could physically go, and even then she was pushing it a bit. I seriously hope they don't do anything rash. Maybe we can catch this thing without fighting it. She commented as the ran, not a hint of a stutter present for whatever reason, That's probably just wishful thinking though..

At some point, she'd managed to get close enough to see the doors, based on the smoke still tumbling out of them. With that, came a final push from her to get to them, which she did, just in time to hear Jack shout for everybody to get out. What now!? She questioned to her weapon as she stumbled to a stop a few steps from the open door. She was seriously getting tired of this mission and it had only just started getting hairy.

She didn't wait around for an answer. If he was shouting to get out, then there had to be a serious issue. While she wanted to try and find out what had happened, her body did the opposite of going inside and followed suit with the order. She spun around just about as quick as she'd stopped, stumbled over her own feet a little, and ran away from the factory, back the way she'd just come. Again. Only this time, way more confused, and running from... something, she didn't know what.

The little creature blinked as it was going around the conveyor belt. It spotted the 'bomb' it created flying back landing before it with a bunch of sphegetti and melons. He tilted his head to the side,. staring curiously upon it. The creature propped itself up poking it with a stick before picking it up. "Graahrahhhga..." The gremlin shook it, glancing upon it as the timer ticked down more. Its hadn lifted up toying around with it a bit. The little creature suddenly jumped up and down, taking off from the conveyor belt and out of sight.

A strange shuffling noise could be heard as the group seemed to be pushing to leave to avoid the explosion. Some spaghetti suddenly started to drop down from above, falling down onto the ground in what looked to be like some kind of light rain, somehow stuck in place by some strange red sauce. It would be easy to quickly think it might be marina sauce, but given how it seemed to be quite stick to keep the spaghetti pinned to the roof, along with its rather unsavory odder it looked to be a bit more then that... not to mention flies in it.

"ARKKAHAHAHAHA" The voice came out a bit closer. The bomb suddenly came flying over from over a piece of machinery with its time lessened at this point to a few seconds. Several more of what appeared to be an exact copy of it flew out, landing all over the place around them and a few landing by the door. The time ticked down as suddenly the timer beeped.... reaching 0. An explosion suddenly errupted... well... what they thought might be an explosion. The device broke open in a load pop.... a small explosion perhaps. Confetti shot all over the place, as if on queue (or through some creatures magic) the speghetti and red sauce fell from the ceiling falling all over the place showering the entire factory with the less then savory food, made worst by the odor already lingering from the gas.

The little gremlin popped out from behind another machine holding a mellow above its head. "KAKAKAKKAKKAKYA" It muttered tossing the melon up in the air before grabbing its staff and making a break from them jumping up attempting to get a high ground after its strange antics attempting to make an escape from a window up top getting itself into the rafters.

'Go back, Go back, Go back, Go BACK!'

With each and every word from his angry conscience, Virgo was slowing down, turning from a sprint to a light jog to a thought fast walk as they neared the door. What was he doing?! He had to go back! He bit his bottom lip. But...the timer was probably even lower than it was originally! He looked down at his feet and frowned...but it felt wrong to run, It felt wrong to go against everything he stood by just because he thought he couldn't do it. Huffing, Virgo shook his head and clenched his fists, looking up with determination. Yeah...Yeah! He couldn't just run! He'd rather die knowing he at least tried to save someone instead of living knowing he didn't do anything! 'Sorry, Naia...' He apologized to Naia through soul link before whirling around. Alright! He only had a few precious seconds to run back, grab the gremlin, and run out of here. If he was lucky, maybe the explosion wouldn't reach the machines until he was at least halfway-where did the gremlin go?

Eyes widening, he looked around wildly. He heard little pitter-patters of feet and ticking that sounded...oddly close. Hearing it quickly sound above him, his head craned upwards to see an army of those ticking devices fly in the air. Eyes wide, he watched as they landed all around him. U-Uh oh! If all those exploded at once then! Heart thumping in his chest, he looked down at the bone knife, thinking quickly before crouching, holding Naia to his chest and covering her with his body. He was a meister now! If the explosion hurt him, he'd at least have to try to make sure they wouldn't hurt her! He smiled, closing his eyes. Well, he lived a good life. At least, in the end, he died doing the one thing he loved...JUS-

BOOM!

...

Was...Was he still alive?

Opening his eyes slowly, he looked around and saw that instead of fiery death bursting around him, red spaghetti sauce was in its place. He slowly stood up and looked around, a big smile on his lips. I-It was just another trick! He started to laugh, throwing his arms up in the air in victory, ignoring the red sauce falling on his head. Yay! Both them AND the Gremlin were alive! Haha! He was so silly! Worrying about an actual explosion when it was all just red sauce!

...Red...Messy Sauce.

...Red Sauce that could stain anything white.

...Red Sauce that was landing RIGHT BEHIND HIM?!

Eyes wide, he placed Naia on the ground before taking his cape off, anyone watching noticing him without it around his neck for the first time they met him, and what he saw was more horrifying than hell itself. His cape...HIS CAPE OF RIGHTEOUS JUSTICE...soaked in red sauce. Sticky red sauce that would take at least three HOURS to remove. He didn't say anything. He could only just watch the slow red glob slowly slide down his cape's once clean fabric, leaving a red trail behind it.

"You..." He said quietly, staring at the Gremlin trying to get away. "Little..." Dropping his arms to the side, hands now clutching his cape tightly, he began to walk towards the retreating Gremlin. "BASTARD." And with that, he ran straight at the gremlin in an angry charge, leaping forward with his arms out in order to grab the Gremlin before its cape-ruining little fingers could destroy anything else.

Kassana Silverstream
The weapon could feel that her meister was nervous and all of a sudden, even though she truly felt like she had control of the situation, Kassana felt useless as well because she wasn’t sure what she could do to reassure her meister that they were doing alright and that they had a handle on the situation. Granted, this was when Kassana did think they had a reasonable handle on the situation. The more her eyes watched the souls of their friends, though, the more she began to realize that that could quite possibly be more than a little inaccurate.

‘What is going on?’ she couldn’t help but to wonder as they approached the factory’s main entrance. ‘What could possibly have gone wrong?’ She didn’t have an answer and she could hear everyone running back.

Her mind started racing through everything she remembered. She recalled the details that Professor Mitsaki had given them, she remembered their plan as a team that they had formulated before they separated from each other and she remembered the little details that she knew about each member of their team. In reality, Kassana was frantically searching for some little detail that she might have missed and she couldn’t think of anything at all that would lead to the team running away from the problem. After all, she could still see the soul (if it was a soul, anyway) of the little gremlin the were tasked with catching.

‘Why are we running away!?’ Kassana’s mind screamed it out loud, searching for answers. Although she didn’t realize exactly how loud it had been - she didn’t have the slightest clue, actually - Kassana’s mind had reached out in such a way that it was quite possible some of the other meisters would hear it… if they were listening for it.

Translation:Tlaigoliga means I don't understand
Naia eyed the shadows as Virgo called out to the mischief maker, watching for any sort of reaction from the green being. When a response came from an entirely unexpected source, she quite literally squeaked into the link. Her focus was drawn to the talking skull while thoughts of spirits ran through her head. This was magic, and she didn't like it. After a moment, she managed tow rite it off as just another odd occurrence in Death City, and was able to actually listen to what they were told. She didn't really get the memo about the rigged 'bomb'. Heck, she didn't even know what a 'bomb' was, let alone the danger that were now in.

The panic that followed from Jack kicking the pile-of-apparently-dangerous-stuff was only all that much more confusing. It all began to blur for the Indian girl, and she didn't really comprehend anything other than the shout to get out and the boy's turning to sprint out of the factory. The next thing she knew, Virgo was apologizing before some kind of red substance and confetti burst out of things flying overhead accompanied by bursts of noise. She was very thoroughly confused and thus said nothing in response to Virgo.

When her meister set her on the ground to take off his cape and then start after the Gremlin, she snapped free of her confused stupor. In a flash of pale green light, she reverted back to her human form, her feet landing on the sauce covered ground a moment later. It probably wasn't the best idea in the book, but she was doing no good laying on the ground in her weapon form anyway. Still greatly confused, she stared after the gremlin's retreating form, then at the mess around her, before her eyes drifted to her meister who now seemed out for blood. One simple, Cherokee word slipped past her lips as she looked about at the mess.

"Tlaigoliga..."

Nothing seemed to be going according to plan. Though his meister once again showed impressive agility, his knowledge of explosives was apparently insufficient to be of any use. He understands his meister's decision, and the fact that it could have been prevented if Kalin had possessed adequate knowledge. He would not neglect such studies ever again if he were to survive.

His survival, however, was low on his list of priorities. Everyone else had to get out of this ok. That was the rules. He frantically scanned his surroundings, looking for any solution, but feeling hopeless. They weren't going to make it out of the blast radius of this much dynamite on time.

As the time ticked down, he couldn't help but be devastated. He'd only just gotten here. He had so much work still to do. This is not what she wanted from him. To die, in some old disgusting factory, unknown. For him to fail his partner, not to mention a whole team.

'Fight to the last.'

He couldn't control what had already happened, and all he could do was fight it. With every fiber of his being. With only seconds before detonation, Kalin once again became golden light, perhaps, for the last time, and clung to his miester's shoulders, aiming to be as an effective meatshield against shrapnel he can manage for his meister's head and squishy insides.

...but the explosion doesn't come.

Instead, Kalin is left mortified and embarrassed, that he'd been had, and his efforts had only likely hindered his partner. And then the combined smell of the rotting flesh, stinking smoke, and the sensation of the tomato sauce (which he managed to spare Jack from) in his hair and running down the back of his shirt catches up to him.

He drops from Jack's back eyes burning with tears, and gagging. He makes it a few steps before dropping to his hands and knees and vomitting up what little he had to eat recently, as well as continuing to dry heave miserably.

Jack E. Trinity
The sudden weight on Jack’s shoulder’s caused the fifteen year old boy to stumble before he could reach the exit, his hat tumbling free from his dark hair and his perception-blocking glasses to crack a bit against the factory floor as he landed. However, his accessories were the last thing on his mind at the moment.

“Kalin! What do you think you’re doing!???”

Even as the words escaped Jack’s mouth, he knew what Kalin intended. Their souls were linked after all…at least until his partner returned to his human form. And even then Jack knew Kalin. It had been a little less than a month since he’d met his blonde partner, but Jack already had a fairly decent understanding of Kalin’s personality. Escape was futile at this point. The disgusting gremlin had too many bombs and, given the way they were all laid out all over the place, the ensuing explosion would be…massive.Too massive to escape.

‘Fight to the last’

‘Why are we running away!?’

Reasonable responses flowing into his mind. Still, Jack had no idea how Kalin planned to fight to the last in his human form. Kalin had been safe in his weapon form. Even if Jack died or gotten grievously injured by the bomb, Kalin would’ve still been able to complete the mission if he survived the explosion. Dying together was not ‘fighting to the last’. It was giving up on the game. It was foolhardy. Clenching his hand, Jack ignored the bit of wetness that fogged his cracked lenses.

“Get back in your weapon form, damn you!!”

Having his soul reaped by Lord Death was one thing.

Having a partner that would shield him from the explosion using his human form was another.

It was the first time in his fifteen years that he’d ever experienced such an act and it was very…frustrating. Touching yet frustrating. But it was too late to do anything about it as the timer went down to zero moments later. Jack shut his eyes.

The explosion…wasn’t as loud as he expected. More like the popping of firecrackers. He could also hear splattering and catch the scent of rotten tomatoes. When in felt the body on top of his crawl off him, Jack opened his eyes to see a red-covered Kalin gagging. Not that he blamed his partner. The scent of the room had gotten noticeably worse with the addition of the red dressing. Though, Jack hardly noticed it—too relieved that his partner and him seemed to be alive. The bomb had been nothing but a prank. A bad prank. Virgo’s laughter sounded off and Jack was tempted to join him. He held it in though, only a wry smile to reveal his feelings.

The little bugger is soooo dead.

Getting to his feet, Jack dusted the bits of confetti that got in his hair and removed his glasses, pocketing them. Then he kicked his hat into his hands, flicking away any of the sticky stuff, before returning it to his head. While Virgo chased after the gremlin in a rare moment of anger, Jack’s foot crushed the zombie skull that was producing some of the toxic odor. Keeping the thing as a trophy might have been cool, but his partner’s health mattered to him more. And it was clear Kalin had a weak stomach. His friend probably wouldn’t appreciate a zombie head decorating their dorm anyway.

Kalin was willing to risk his life to save Jack. That much he’d ascertained from the events that transpired.

It hardened Jack’s determination.

Walking over to Kalin, Jack pulled off the handkerchief covering half of his face and used it to wipe some of the red stuff off the other boy--ignoring the vomit that didn't help the mess of a room any. His other hand rubbed soothing circles on Kalin’s back. His anger at Kalin was lessened at the sight of the boy’s sorry state.

“Want to get some fresh air?”

As he spoke, he noticed Naia seemed to be a bit confused. He also remembered that he’d heard Kassana’s voice in his mind. He had been in too much of a panic over Kalin to focus on the foreign thought. How she’d managed to convey her thoughts to him , though they weren't partners, was a complete mystery to him. An EAT technique? Or was it some sort of weapon ability? He didn't imagine the quiet EAT student would have such a loud voice. It was rather...impressive.Whichever the case, Jack didn’t dwell on the thought for long. He was about to ask Naia to message Dakota, informing her it’d been a false alarm, when he remembered she didn’t have a cell phone. Did she even know what was going on? The look on her face spoke otherwise…

I’ve got to show her the wonders of technology one of these days...

“You should probably help your partner,” Jack directed his gaze to Virgo and the little creature trying to escape through the window. “We’ll join you once Kalin’s feeling better. In the meantime, I’ll see to contacting Dakota and Kassana, informing them about what’s going on. The game’s not over yet. Round two has just barely begun. That goblin…” Jack’s violet eyes narrowed on the disgusting runt. “ I REALLY don’t want to lose to that…miscreant.”

The little goblin stood covered in the sauce himself, bouncing around excitedly briefly halting its little escape in celebration. It was then it saw Virgo charging for it. "WAAKAISHUUU!" The creature called out jumping away running away in a hurry before it could get caught finding itself back along the factory floor as it scurried off using the machinery as cover slipping under it not seeming at all to care about the massive mess it had made through the factory. Its cry could be heard as if in some panic, or perhaps in a way mocking the so called 'heroes' as it scurried off for safety.

The creature jumped up once again towards a window, wiggling its rear end as it worked to get it open so it could slip out of the factory, much of the sauce dripped from its body. The place smelled horrid with the various odors conflicting so much. The crushing of the zombie skull didn't help at all as it only seemed to add to a smell of rot to the room as the seemingly confused and angry kids all seemed to dodge a bullet of possible death, only to take one of potential humiliation that some took a lot better then others with the Goblin finally cracking open the window to try and slip through.
