It is not very happy but it helps me sleep at night.
I Would Have Died for You
A breath in
A deep breath out
At one moment I was your greatest friend
The next you left me abandoned
Cold.
Gone.
For 2 years we had stated we loved one another
For 2 years were friends
Siblings
Yet you could not show me the decency you would show a stranger.
Stranded.
Waiting.
Is love nothing more than pain?
Is love nothing more than a tool to manipulate?
You spent time with your friends
I cried on the bathroom floor.
You laughed and spoke of how hard you work was
I was left in fear of ever touching a drop of alcohol again
Yet for some reason I still care about you.
For some reason I still don't want to see you hurt.
And I ask you to look in the mirror
To see if it is still yourself
Or if it is the beast that you see.
You told me how closely you hold your faith
I tell you now to go pray.
Tell your God that you were the reason I never came back to my room.
Tell your God you acted as though nothing happened.
Tell him as though he does not know already.
Perhaps he will forgive you, he is far nicer than I.
I would have died for you.
And you left me for dead.
And then demanded forgiveness be given unyieldingly.
But I am too cold for forgiveness.
Too far Gone.
Broken.
But not dead.
And thus, not without hope.
For love is there to cause pain, yet it also is there to rebuild.
To heal.
And those who use love for benevolence rather than malevolence still stand tall.
As long as they do, light shall triumph over dark
And I can Triumph as well.
